Hello Everyone,

For some reason I couldn't post a reply but I could post a new thread. I can't figure this out.

Terri sent me this. I'll be back later. I'm behind schedule this morning.
************************************************

Hey,This is Terri
I am trying this again.

Thanks for all of the missing you posts. Makes a girl feel good.
This only works 1 out of 30 times. FRUSTRATING I miss all of my friends.

Congrats to all of the losers out there and I don't want to make this too long because it probably won't work.

I maintained this week. Brittany lost 10 pounds in the last 3 weeks. She is a happy camper.

Jen,
I just read about Joe. I will be praying and I am sure he will be ok.

Hope you are feeling better Dianne and Zoe.

Essie,
Thanks for posting this. (I hope you say yes) LOL

Hi Sandy, Ruth, JanieD, and Myra. I hope I didn't miss anyone.
If anyone has any ideas why my messages are hanging let me know. LOL

Terri
My e-mail is terrmor@knology.net Anytime. I miss y'all. Have a great day.

Way to go, Brittany!!! It was good to see your post, Terri. Hope you get the problem resolved soon. With Es having a problem now as well when trying to post a reply, perhaps we will have to try another site.

The hospital scheduled Joe's cardiac cath. for the 13th of Feb., which is a Wednesday. He'll work the two days before, but will be taking off the remainder of the week.

I had a very weird (for me, anyway) moment yesterday: after a 1.5 hour meeting w/a banker (we're refinancing), I got out at 2 p.m., thought "well, I haven't even had lunch yet, but what I really want to do is walk instead of eat" ......can you believe it?! I came home and changed right away and got outside and walked 2 miles. After that I was happy with a yogurt and an apple. It was such a good feeling, to be in control.

Sandy, I'm glad to hear that your Mom is doing better. Facing more surgery must be rough on her, how does she handle it? It's a good thing you're there for her. Post when you can, keep in touch!

Dianne, banking 5 points is a good thing :D take it any way you can get it.

I have class today. There are about 40 students in my class.....and they're all 19 :( And then there's me.....no one knows what to make of it

have a great day, girls.

luv,
~Jen

Terri, I was so happy to read your email this morning. We miss you so much. Wow Brittany lost 10 lbs. WTG!!!!!

Jen, Sunday evening I typed this long reply & when I hit send the board said it was down. Talk about aggravation!!! This morning I couldn't get in then I figured let me try to post a new thread & that when thru. I hope I don't start having problems.
I'm so proud of you:D Great choice you made to go for a walk. It makes you feel good, doesn't it? Joe's going for his procedure on Pete's birthday. Keep thinking positive for his sake & yours. ;) I'll say a prayer for him.

Dianne, yes I'm still stressing at work:rolleyes: I have to keep saying to myself that I'm grateful to have a job. There will always be stress it's how I handle it that counts. I pray a lot, that's what gets me through the day. Thanks for asking.

I feel lazy this evening & I really don't feel like going back to read the other pages on #117. Sorry:(

Hi Myra, Janie, Ruth, Sandy, Viola & Zoe(I hope you're feeling better).

Hi buddies

Es - thanks for printing Terri's post. Hope you are not going to start having trouble too!:(
Oh, I meant to tell you, I was never able to open David's picture. Would you mind sending it to dpadro@poly.edu? Thanks! I really would like to see Derek, Jr. LOL!

Terri - Nice to hear from you, hope things get straightened out with the posting soon. We really do miss you, mucho! Congrats to you for staying the same, guess that's what maintenance is all about. Congrats to Brittany, wow 10 lbs., she must be feeling fantastic. Tell her I said "way to go"!;)

Jen - congrats to you too for taking that walk instead of eating. Sometimes, we are just bored (I know that's the type of eater I am) and think we are hungry. Soooooooo funny, a bunch of 19 year olds in school and then there's you! That's right, YOU ARE UNIQUE! I'm sure they all think its great that you decided to go back to school - they probably admire you;)

Ruth - busy, busy, busy - slow down, you're moving too fast - remember that song "you've got to make the morning last", etc. Stop and smell the roses girl!

Myra - Good luck with WI tonight!

Zoe - Are you okay? I hope you're feeling better!
I, thank God, am soooooooooo much better.

I've been doing well so far on program. The only thing is since I was sick I haven't been walking or getting any real exercise. I hope this good weather continues, cause I'd like to get some walking in this weekend. I miss that.

Hi Janie, Viola and Sandy - have a great day!

Hugs,

 Hi everyone,

Today was weigh-in....I lost 2.4 lbs. :D Due to the two weeks I fooled around and gained, my total is at 4.8 so far...missed that 5 pound star by .2 ! It's a start and I feel very good. I haven't begun the counting pts. at dinner method, have been using only 3 for breakfast and no more than 5 or 6 for lunch so I can splurge on dinner and dessert. It's ok so far.

Es, I forgot that Pete and Joe's birthdays are so close together; Joe's is on the 10th of Feb. I'm glad he can at least enjoy his day, his 50TH ! before having the procedure.

Dianne, glad you're feeling so much better. Now you can go back to walking. That's my favorite exercise. Loved your gif! (stole it)

Myra, where did you cut points when you moved to the lower range? That must be difficult. Good luck on WI tonight.

Ruth, hope your classes are going well. Take a breather, girl!

Terri, get back here! Hi to Zoe (hope you're feeling better), Janie (how's the elbow?) , Sandy, Viola.

We're getting socked with a major winter storm; they're predicting up to 12 inches of snow, followed by ice. Since we've been so lucky up till now, we can't complain. I'm looking forward to a snow day! It's so much fun for the kids.

later!

So many losers. It is great. Congrats Jenny and Janie! I am hoping for about a pound loss too (at least that is what my home scale says) even though I had problems keeping to this lower range, but I guess slipping into the higher range when I am only 149 did not matter that much, but eventually I have to get a handle on sticking to 18-23. I really don't know what to cut, Jenny. That is my problem. When I do cut it back I get so hungry at night that I am back to eating what I was when I was over 150. Hopefully it will eventually click.

Everyone seems to be losing except me.:( It's my fault. So no self pity here.

Myra, you have lost quite a bit. I can't imagine being on 18 pts. for the day. I guess you adjust eventually. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Jen, I am sooooooooooo happy for you. We are very much the same when it comes to cravings & weight loss. I had lost 4.6 but I haven't weighed myself since then. It's very wintery where you're at. We might get some ice but that's it. Enjoy the snow. Winter's going by very fast.

Janie, 30 LBS. HIGH FIVE!!!! That's some accomplishment. I'm inspired.;)

Dianne, I'll try & send it again. It's a slight resemblance. He says he doesn't know why people say that. I think he's a cutie.:D

Ruth, I'm starting to miss you :( Hope you can have some time to relax soon.

Zoe, hope you're taking care of yourself.

Terri, we miss you kiddo:wave:

Till tomorrow.

Hi everyone

Janie - congrats on the loss this week and the 30 lbs overall loss -FANTASTIC!!!!! You must be thrilled.

Jen - congrats to you too - you're really making it happen. Great loss. When you must get some really tough winters in Chicago - 12 inches is a LOT!!!! Well, enjoy the beauty of it. I'snt it weird though. I mean yesterday it was 69 degrees in NY and tonight it will be 30 something:dizzy:

Myra - congrats to you as well. Good job!

Es - I got the picture - David IS a cutie! Thanks for sending it again. Don't stress the weight thing too much, when you're ready you'll do it. You know you can - we all know we can, but sometimes "s--t happens" :s: and life gets in the way. It will happen, you've already lost over 4 lbs. - that's an accomplishment. I'm proud of you and all of us!

Hi Terri, Ruth, Zoe (better yet?), sandy, and viola. Talk to "you's" tomorrow.

Somebody stop this merry-go-round and let me off!!! Just kidding. I feel so guilty for not coming around very much in the last few days I decided to take that breather Jen was talking about!!

JEN, I have 3 test next week: Algebra, Sociology and Heredity so you might find me "holding my breath" in the near future!! I've started my heavy duty studying today and I guess it will continue until the last test next Thursday. Wow, sounds like winter finally has arrived. I'm ready for sping myself. It is suppose to rain here and drop back down into the 50's tomorrow. We were in the 70's today. Congratulations on the loss. With every loss you'll get more determined, just wait and see.

JANIE, congratulations on the loss. We are doing a happy dance for you. Doesn't it give you new found motivation?

MYRA, glad to hear that you lost a pound. You have worked so hard and are doing so good. Keep it up, are you still exercising?

ES, thanks for missing me. As for losing your weight, you'll get there. Hey you have us to cheer you on. So when you are ready, just consider us your personal cheerleading team.

DIANNE, loved the smiley faces relating to going back to school. They were hilarious. In fact, not to far from how I feel sometimes.

Well, I hope everyone is having a good week, back to the Sociology book for me.

HAPPY THURSDAY to you, too, Essie!! I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am very glad to have met everyone here. I come here for more than just weight loss support. :D

Last night's RAD class was our final session. We were suited up w/protective gear and had to face two attackers alone in the gym. I was apprehensive all week about it; turned out that I have more moxie than I thought. They were very aggressive, taunting verbally and physically. We had to go through 3 scenarios: standing at an atm, waiting for a bus, and standing w/eyes closed, being assaulted from behind. They videotaped each one of us and we were able to see how we handled ourselves. It was incredible. Again, if this class is available to any of you, I'd strongly urge you to take it, along with your daughters, friends, and relatives.

We received 10 inches of snow since yesterday afternoon. :D It's beautiful...a winter wonderland. My class is cancelled today, so I can stay home, enjoy a fire and nest!

Myra, good job on the pound! You continue to inspire me. Two more pounds and I have to lower my points range. :( Mixed feelings about that.

Ruth, good luck with your tests. How long have you been taking classes? I've been thinking of taking more than one class next fall; the idea of pursuing a degree is starting to appeal to me.

Dianne, you're right about Es's son David being a cutie ;)

Jen and Myra,
Congratulations you loosers

Es,
I agree this is a great place with a great group of women. I get way more than WW support here.

HI everyone,
This has been a really s---y week. Ellen came home sick from school yesterday, Wally is leaving today, and RIght now my father-in-law, who is turning 80 next month, has moved out and is filing for divorce. He has had 3 heart attacks and is taking meds for dimentia. This is so stupid I can't believe it. I am sure that it is the dimentia talking. It sure seems stupid to want to go it alone at this point in life. Steve agrees with me but he doesn't talk to his dad about personal things. I guess they have never connectd on that level. ANyway we are very worried about him. His wife, Steve's stepmother, is a fantastic woman. I just don't get it. Oh well enough complaining.

Have on OP Thur,

Hi Buddies:wave:

Thanks Jen & Dianne for saying my boy is a cutie. To know him is to love him. He's nicest guy & is so thoughtful. I know, I know, I'm bragging but it's the truth.

Janie, I work for a Law Office that helps low income people. We handle all kinds of problems. One unit is for divorce & we got a call from a 79 yr. old woman who wants to divorce her 80 yr. old husband because he commited adultery!!! I could not believe it!!! There must be something in the air!! LOL You are not complaining, you're venting. We're your buddies & that's what we're here for. Not only to talk about weigh loss.

Jen, I would not hesitate to take that class. I would really get into it. Karate chops & everything. You are in a winter wonderland. Must look so pretty. Today we had warm, misty weather. Definitely a bad hair day! Seems strange having warm weather in January.

Ruth, when I read your post I got exhausted just reading all those courses you're taking. Whhewww. I give you & Jen lots of credit. WTG.

Evening, just a quick post before I check into the chat room for a few minutes.

Well, I recieved good news and bad news from the doctors office this afternoon. The good news is that my cholesterol is under 200, the first time in over 3 years. I am totally thrilled with that piece of news.

The bad news is that the ultra sound found gall stones, so at some point in time I will be having laser surgery. Oh well, as someone told me if you look for problems you'll find them. He was referring to my view of men at the time, guess it holds true with deciding that I needed a checkup!! Oh well, it won't be that bad.

Talk later,
Ruth

Hi Buddies,

I don't mean to be in hiding, but I have had too much going on to spend much time at the computer. I know I've gone on about my mom, but up till now I was hesitant to mention that my dad is also in a nursing home because of Parkinson's disease. Between visiting mom and dad this week, working in Boston, and serving on the board at our church, plus the normal home and family stuff, I haven't been able to visit with you all.

I did take an old escape route and lose myself in a mystery novel. Better thatn spending my free moments eating!

Janie, I am sorry to hear that your father-in-law is a victim of dementia. My dad is too, from the Parkinson's and they sure can develop some odd reasons to do things. Remember that we are here for you, and be sure to vent here.
And Janie 30 lbs down EXCELLENT!

Jen, I can't imagine myself doing a tenth as well as you did with that course, I am so unaggressive, it is hard for me to picture it. My dad used to have me practice punching a pillow when I was a little kid, just to get me to learn to defend myself against the school bullies. I think I failed his course then!
Ruth, those courses sound so ambitious. But keeping on top of your studying now is great, I know that you will do really well. Do you like the sociology? My son David took it last term and loved it.

Dianne, I hope you are continuing to get better.
Zoe, I hope you are recovering too!
Myra, congrats on the pound, you are doing great!
Hi Terri and Viola, hope I remembered everyone

Hi Es, I have to admit I am not losing right now either, I am only down 2.8 since Christmas. My goodness, all this talk about your Cutie, I wish I could see him too.

Hugs to you all, I will check in again as soon as I can

Hi:wave:

Sandy, you have a lot going on:( Sorry about your Dad. My parents are both deceased but I remember they use to say they never wanted to live to the point that we had to take care of them or be in a nursing home. I always told them I wanted them around a long time, long enough to see great grandchildren. My Dad died of a heart attack in 1994 & Mom in 1984. Do you have a close relationship with them? Hope I'm not getting too personal.
I can show you a picture of David if you send me your email.

Ruth, I get my cholesterol results Tuesday. The last time it was 237. Before the meds it was 303:eek: I'm getting there slowly but surely. When are you having surgery?

Janie, with your father-in-law leaving his wife where will he go? Hope Ellen is feeling better. So many people are getting sick. I guess it's that time of the year. Our weather has been so unusual, up & down. Even the bugs are confused.

Be back later.

I am on my way out the door to work so I don't have time to write long but wanted to check in and let you's know that I was on my way to recovery. also, I lost 2.5 this last week (Wednesday was weigh day). I guess being sick helped some. Ha!

Janie,
I hope Ellen is feeling better. You'll miss Wally, it's bittersweet to say goodbye to a good friend. The situation with your father-in-law, well I don't know what to say other than just vent here; the support you give your husband is the most important of all.

Zoe, congrats on a good loss, in spite of how you lost it. ;) Just don't overdo it till you're 100%.

Sandy, it was good to hear from you. Many women our age are struggling with their work, home, kids, and then their aging parents. It's heartbreaking to see them go downhill, all you can do is be there for them and be strong. I wish you well; enjoy the reading, much better than food! :)

Ruth, how soon do you have to have the surgery? So sorry to hear that; the laser advances make the recovery time so much shorter now, at least that'll work to your advantage.

Since there have been notices on this site about possibilities of it going down temporarily, does anyone want to share email addresses? Some of us have done so already in the past. Mine is jstar0612@aol.com.

Today's my Mom's birthday, she would have been 82.

Hi gals,
Thanks for letting me vent yesterday. Thank you all who asked about Ellen, I think she wasn't really sick just upset about her grandpa. She said that she had a tummy ache but she ate fine that evening. I think it was stress.

Wally stopped by my office yesterday. We said goodbye (I am terrible at goodbyes  ) and he gave me his hat. I don't know about you guys but I thought that was really sweet:o

Zoe,
COngrates on the 2.5# loss :D WTG girlfriend! Do take care of yourself. I don't want you pushing yourself back to working full time and getting sick all over again!

Sandy,
I am sorry to hear about your dad:( You certainly have a lot on your plate girl. Your strength is awesome!

Ruth,
I tried a homeopathic remedy which consisted of fasting, apple juice and olive oil for gall stones. I know this sounds hokey, but I tried it and I passed my stones and didn't have to have the surgery. Now I do it once a year just to clean things out. If you are interested, send me your e-mail @ddress.

Jen,
I am planning on taking that RAD course as soon as my elbow is healed. I think it may be offered at Steve's college. BTW I agree about the e-mail my @ddress is dignon@llnl.gov

Janie, I felt so bad when you said Ellen was upset about her grandpa. (awwww):( That was nice of Wally to give you his hat. Where did he go? Are you going to stay in touch? Sounds like a great guy.

Jen, where did you hear about the site going down AGAIN?

Hi guys

Just a quick hello, and to let you know I lost .8 (big whoop, LOL)! But hey that's better than gaining right? I'll take it and be happy. Its funny, because I felt I did so well this week so I was a little disappointed, then I thought "hey, until I went back to ww 2 weeks ago, I hadn't lost weight in 6 months". That made me feel better, then I was listening to an oldie station driving home and I heard the 4 Tops "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch". OMG, one of my favorites 4 Tops songs, LOL.

Anyway, today is Willie and my "love" anniversary. It's the anniversary of when we met again after 16 years. Today is our 23rd love anniversary. So, we are going out to dinner and a movie in the city (NYC, Jen:D ) So, I just came in quick, I've got to go get dressed. I'll come back later or tomorrow morning to address everyone! Love you guys!

Happy Love Anniversary Dianne. Have a great time in the city. .8 loss is better that .8 gain. I weighed this morning & I'm up 1:rolleyes: Wow, talk about an oldie. Sugar pie honey bunch. You know that I love you. Can't help myself, I love you & nobody else. In & out my life.................. Got me started. I can sing the whole song. Those were the good old days, right? Sweet memories.

Viola, I start journaling then I only get up to lunch then forget it, I stop there. I will start fresh tomorrow. Glad to hear from you.

Ruth, surgery today is so quick & not as painful. You'll be okay;)

Dianne, .8 is not bad....you're doing it! Ok, you've got my curiosity aroused.....you and Willie met again after 16 years? I don't remember hearing the story; what happened? OMG, I love the 4 Tops and the Temptations....Sugar Pie Honey Bunch is one of the best. Hope your night was fun  Congrats!

Es, I've always had the same problem with journalling, stopping after lunch. Now I'm trying to write down in the a.m. what I'll be having for dinner, then I can plan the snacks, etc., around that. To me those are more important than dinner sometimes! At my meeting on Wed., the leader began a contest, if we show her a week's journal our name goes in a drawing and the winner gets a box of 2 pts. bars. Then for every week we show a journal, our name goes in, after 12 weeks, she draws and the winner gets a WW cookbook.

Viola, good to hear from you. Keep on trying!

Joe and I spent the day shopping, had lunch (I was good and had salad and 1/2 a turkey sandwich; eating out is very tempting!). Thing is, we shopped at Home Depot and another home improvement store.....not too exciting. But we had a nice day.

see you tomorrow

Mine is pattiandgreg@charter.net ~ Glad that you did well eating out and had a good time. I too am too tempted when I eat out although I do well MOST of the time...(hear that? Most...haha!) I love going to Home Depot and Lowes so I know you had a blast.

Es ~ Rose Red would have been a movie I didn't miss years ago but now, I just can't watch that stuff. Did you watch your tape yet? Scary, huh?? YIKES! I'm too afraid these days, to watch that stuff. :)

Dianne ~ glad your feeling good now. Losing .8 is a good thing, really. Did you know that we tend to GAIN weight when we're sick? Anitbiotics, etc, can make us put a few pounds one so you did great. Happy LOVE Anniversary!! Hope you had a wonderful time in the city.

Pogo ~ Welcome, come on in! The fact that this thread was a inspiration for you makes us feel good. :) Journaling is so, so important but don't worry about 'forgetting'. It's something that becomes a habit in tme, just keep starting over with it and it will become second nature. Tell us about yourself.

Hi to everyone else....sorry I didn't address y'all. Gotta run. Have a great Sunday afternoon.

Hi guys:

Thanks myra, essie, jen and zoe re: the .8 loss and the "love" anniversary, lol. We had a great time last night. Went to see "in the bedroom" with Sissy Spacek. Real intense movie - great acting, but be sure to bring a box of kleenex. Then we went to a new restaurant with a jazz show and great food. I splurged last night - penne pasta and shrimp scampi - fantastic! I lovvvvvvee shrimp scampi. Anyway, back on track today!

Jen - I guess I didn't tell you guys this, but I knew willie when I was a little girl. I was 10 and he was 18 and I went to his little sister's birthday party. They had a pinata and it was my turn to hit it, but I was soooooooooooooo skinny (believe it or not, lol) so he helped me swing the stick and break the pinata. Well, I fell in love, head over heels and had the biggest crush ever:D Then I didn't see him again until 16 years later. I met him at a club and told him, hey you know, I had a crush on you when I was a kid, and I guess he got embarrassed so he said "well, I hope you got over it":s: Baloney! He really didn't mean that. We were both divorced and we started seeing each other and the rest is history!
So, that's the story. ;)

Es - "sweet memories of a tender love that used to be, now its the same old song" another 4 tops favorite. OMG, I was definitely a motown baby, 4 tops, temptations (yes, Jen - loved them too), supremes, smokey robinson -- DO NOT GET ME STARTED:smug: Once willie took me to a Jones Beach concert with the 4 Tops, Temptations and the Spinners and in that same week we saw Smokey Robinson in Brooklyn - OMG, I was in motown heaven:cool:

Zoe - sooooooooo glad to hear you are better girl. I think you're right about the meds not helping with weight loss, so I guess I was lucky to lose the .8. Thanks!

Hi ruth, sandy and Janie - and welcome Pogo. This is a great place to be - I love these guys. We don't just talk about weight either as you can see. Hope you'll stick around!

Well, let me go have a ww dinner (6 pts.) since I eat 10,000 point shrimp scampi last night :s: Have to try and make up for that, lol.

I hope you all have a great night and I'll talk to "you's" tomorrow.

Hugs,
Dianne

Hi Zoe, My WW Cheese soup is simmering and I have a minute before I pack it up with my crockpot. We're going to a Superbowl Party! And I became a football fan just last weekend. I've been sort of following the Patriots for the whole season. But never thought they'd get to New Orleans! So we'll have fun tonight - no matter the outcome. I'm bringing the soup and a fruit salad.

I'm 47, married, 3 kids - 19, almost 18, and almost 15.

That's all I have time for. I'll fill you in with more info next time.

Hi Buddies,

I sent a long reply to all a couple days ago and it got lost in the cyberether:( .

Es, I want to include my email Sandyboz@aol.com, I still wanted to see a pic of your cutie. If you are willing I would send you a pic of my two guys.

Welcome Pogo This is a great bunch, alway caring and encouraging. BTW,I am in MA too.
We had a super bowl party too, I had pizza, but I also made a soup recipe out of Cooking Light and had a huge veggie tray with a low fat dip.

Ruth I understand laser surgery is a lot easier to recover from. I hope you will recover quickly. You must be one efficient lady scheduling it during your school break. But sweetie, be careful and take care of you!

Zoe Glad you are feeling better, This will be your week!

Dianne That is a neat love story, I love hearing ones where what is meant to be finally comes together.
It's funny, I had scampi too, on Friday night, I forgot how much oil a restaurant can use. When I make it at home the shrimp are not going for a swim!

Jen A good idea for journalling, I am the same too, but I don't even make it past breakfast sometimes. If I fill in dinner first, and plan around it that should help. I especially like the drawing, that your WW leader is doing. :s: I should suggest it to mine.

Janie Thanks for your kind words about my dad's situation.
I really find that mom and dad's situations are a huge part of my daly life. Also a big part of why I ate for the wrong reasons.

Hi Myra, Viola, everyone I missed too!

Luv Ya all, Sandy

Es,
My FIL decided to rent an apartment and buy himself a car at 80yrs old. He signed a 1 yr lease besides. I think he's lost his marbles. Steve is being very quiet about the whole thing. I think he is in denial. I wish he was the type to express his feelings, but like most men he keeps them inside.

Jen,
Wally was a security officer here at the lab. He has left LLNL to work in Security for DOE directly. He will be at the academy for 12 weeks then he will be assigned to Amarillo TX. From there he will be traveling all over the country guarding the transport of top security items. He may even have to come to Livermore once in a while (I hope). I have his e-mail so I intend to keep in touch. He really is a special person. I miss him a lot.

Dianne,
You need to look at the glass half full, .8 is almost a whole pound!! That is great :D COngrats on your Love Anniversary!

Hi to everyone
I lost the football pool at work. I now have to proudly display a plunger in my office for the next year. Oh well it is a fun way to connect with the guys and although I have never won the pool I usually do pretty well. This is my first bad year.

Hi Sandy, What a game! We stayed up and watched the coverage til 12:30AM. So, early to bed tonite. But I'm planning on fitting in a walk around 8 tonite. It's cold, but once you get moving - it warms up quickly. I'm also thinking about going to Boston tomorrow for the parade. I've given my boys the day off from school!

I made the cheese soup (for the superbowl party) that everyone was talking about at the WW meeting on Friday. It's pretty good. I have some left over, so I'll freeze it. I also have some fruit salad left. Both of these should help me get through the week. It's easier when there is something all ready to eat.

I'm thinking of using the journaling thread - do you guys use it? Does it help?

Hi ladies

Pogo ~ how did the WW cheese soupd turn out? I think (can't seem to remember......) I've had it before. BTY, I am 46 with a girl 26 and a boy almost 22 (in march). No little ones running around but I wish I did. I love babies and would have 4 more in a heartbeat. :)

Janie ~ sorry you lost the football pool. And to have to remember that loss ALL YEAR with the plunger in your office. Haha. What fun.

Hi Sandy, Es, Dianne, Myra, Viola, Jen and Ruth (Terri, come out and come out)....hope I didn't miss anyone. Hope you're having a good night. Talk to you's guys tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

Dianne, the story of your Love anniversary is so cool...I guess it was meant to be between you and Willie! Glad you had a nice evening. I love shrimp scampi too; it's one of the few seafood dishes I'll eat, can't stand fish.

Pogo, nice to meet you. I'm from Chicagoland, am 48, 2 grown kids, 2 grandsons . I'd be interested in the cheese soup recipe also; that wasn't mentioned at my meeting. I am not using the 40's journalling thread; Myra is very consistent with it, posts daily. She has been very successful recently with losing, shows there is a definite correlation between journalling and losing! Congrats on the Patriots' win!

Janie, enjoy that plunger  why don't you dress it up a bit? Like hang a lei on it, or a hat. It'll make the guys crazy. Hang in there with your FIL.....sounds like a teenager showing their independence.

Sandy, It was good to hear from you. Do you use Cooking Light recipes often? That's one of my favorite magazines.

I had a terrible day yesterday, food/points-wise. Couldn't stop eating. I didn't journal either. I hate when that happens; besides the damage done w/food, it's also not good for my mental well being. Today is a new day.

Hi to everyone else......Es, Myra, Terri (?), Zoe, Ruth, Viola....

Hi gals,
So far I have been OP all week. WI tomorrow. It has been harder with the lower point range. I find myself at the high end of the range every day, I feel like I have lost though so maybe it is ok to be at the high end when you first transition. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

The FIL thing is getting uglier. His wife removed all of the money from their joint acct so he doesn't have any cash for another 2 months until one of his CDs comes due. I guess he will be living off of his credit cards until then.

I have to go. My work buddies and I try to walk at lunch time and I am late. "Talk" to you later,

Just a quick note before I leave for school, hope everyone is doing okay. I have 3 test this week, so my time is limited. I will try to catch up on everyones posts on Thursday after my last test.

I can't wait for this weeks weighin, my scale is weighing me at 158 every morning. So, I should definitely see a decrease, finally.

Hey ladies

Tomorrow is weigh day and I've been sooooo bad. I didn't eat much last week due to being so sick but I've caught up this week. :( Anyway, I know it won't be good but I'm going to weigh anyway so that I can kick myself in the butt and get back on track. I wanted to be a certain weight by the time I go on vacation but it's not looking good. (I leave 2/15). I have about 6 more to go for that, not counting if I gained this week. Soooooooo, I'm getting back on track today. Stayed in my points so far but the night isn't over yet. I am praying.....I really need to get back to drinking my water....that really helps me.

Hope y'all are doing great tonight. I'll talk to you's guys later.

Es - everything okay? Just busy, busy??? My boss in in Panama on vacation until next Wednesday, so I've been able to "catch up" on stuff without him bugging me. Its funny, I'm glad when he's away, but after about the 3rd or 4th day, I start to get bored, lol. Never happy! Anyway, miss you.

Terri - Miss you too, hope you and the family are doing well. Keep in touch with us, please.

Hi Jen - mmmmmmmm, shrimp scampi. WW sent me a receipe today for shrimp scampi and linguini - 8 pts. I'm gonna try it this weekend. How are the little guys? How's school?

Ruth - OUCH, 3 tests??????? Yikes, girl, that's rough. Good luck.

Zoe - I know what you mean - I was doing great and then today, I went "loca" ;) Just about ate everything in sight. Oh, well, tomorrow's another day. Good luck with wi.

Hi Myra- how are you doing girl? Everything okay.

Janie - Your father-in-law situation sounds so crazy. I mean, what is he thinking? I've heard of middle age crisis, but not at 80! I feel bad for him and your mother-in-law, she must be heartsick. I hope things turn around for them. You take care.

Hi Pogo - how are you doing? Hi Sandy, how's it going, girl?

Well, NYPD Blue is about to come on - gotta run. Talk to "you's" tomorrow.

Real busy. Going to a two day conference in NYC this week, which means that I have to squeeze in five days of work in three. The conference is also tough eating-wise. They always have a prepared plate -- no choices -- and the richest, highest calorie stuff you can find. It is definitely going to be a challenging week. Also going to miss WW meeting. Wouldn't you know it that the only days there are meetings here is the days of the conference. Well, at least I have you guys.

Hi Gals,
I WI this morning and am disappointed. I really thought that I had lost some this week but I showed no change  I guess it is still better than gaining. I am so close to my goal weight that I can smell it, but it seems to be to illusive. I guess I have to cut the points further

I had PT yesterday and so far today I don't seem to be in as much pain. Last time I was really hurting the day after. I go to see the Dr on Friday. He will probably take another xray and determine whether I will need surgery. Say a prayer for me gals.

Pogo,
Let me introduce myself. I am 44 and an environmental scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. I have been lifetime member since 1995. I have a great husband, Steve, and a wonderful 8 yr old daughter, Ellen. We Live in Livermore which is about 50 mi outside San Francisco. The reason I am in Physical Therapy is that I broke my elbow roller skating with Ellen the day before Christmas.

Dianne,
The Shrimp scampi recipe sounds wonderful. I hope you are willing to share, please... please... please:^:

Terri,
I hope you get your problem solved soon. We miss you :(!!!!

Myra,
Don't worry about the conference. I have found that I do ok at conferences as long as I am able to get my h2o. I tend to eat a little bit more, but my anxiety level is higher and I think I burn more. Just make sure you get your h2o.

Ruth,

Hi guys

Janie -- a miracle just occurred, I was actually able to copy and paste the shrimp scampi receipe from the one weight watchers sent me - amazing! If you make it let me know how it comes out, please. I'm gonna try it this weekend I think.

Hi everyone, will be back later.

Shrimp Scampi:

Ingredients

2 tsp olive oil
4 medium garlic clove(s), minced
1 tsp dried oregano
1 pound shrimp, medium, peeled and deveined
1/4 cup wine, dry white or vermouth
2 tsp cornstarch
3/4 cup reduced-sodium, fat-free chicken broth
1/8 tsp table salt, or to taste
1/8 tsp black pepper, or to taste
8 oz uncooked linguini, cooked and still hot
1/4 cup parsley, freshly chopped

Instructions

1.Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and sauté 1 minute. Add oregano and stir to coat. Add shrimp and
sauté until bright pink, stirring frequently, about 3 minutes. Add wine and simmer about 1 minute.

2.Dissolve cornstarch in chicken broth and whisk until blended.
Add mixture to skillet and simmer 2 minutes, until sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper.

3.Transfer linguini to four individual shallow bowls and spoon shrimp and sauce over top. Sprinkle parsley on top. Yields about 1 1/3 cups pasta, 1/4 cup sauce and 3 ounces shrimp per
serving.

Dianne,
the recipe sounds great. I think I'll make it on Saturday. Thanks! Oh, and WAY TO GO on the copying and pasting! I could totally identify with your sense of achievement.....each time I learn a new 'puter skill I am in awe. :D

Janie,
I'm praying that you won't need surgery; it does sound positive that you weren't in as much pain after your last pt session, right?

Zoe,
where are you going for vacation? Hope it's somewhere warm :)

Es,
HI! I miss you :( Hope you're not going to becom MIA like Terri.

Ruth,
good luck with those tests. I'm sure you'll do well. :)

I've had a difficult week, beginning back on Sunday, and the snacks for the super bowl game. My own fault. I gained .6 This has got to be the last time I pay them to post a gain!!!

Joe has decided to stay home on Sunday, his 50th; we'll have some family over for a small party.

Hello:wave:

I've been waking up earlier than usual & I'm knocked out early. By 7:30 I'm yawning:yawn: Work has been stressful but that's nothing new. I was just watching Oprah about menopause. Great show. They talked about how hard it is to lose weight when your even in the early stage of menopause. I guess that's me:rolleyes:

Jen, I think staying at home with family to celebrate Joe's birthday sounds very nice. I bet the boys are looking forward to spending the night with grandma. If you were my grandma I'd be thrilled to hang out with you & Joe. (spoiled)

I went for my cholesterol results & it's up a little since the last time. She said it's not too bad cause the good one is high. My Dr. is a woman. She asked if I've made any changes in my diet & I was honest with her. I told her I haven't been as careful as I usually am but next visit I'll be down again.

Janie, staying the same isn't bad at all. I can relate with the disappointment. I'm going to be praying for you.;) Hope you won't have to get surgery. Think positive okay?.

Dianne, mi amiga! here I am:) Enjoy your days without your boss. I love when mine is on vacation. I have 4 bosses. It's totally ridiculous:mad: If I want to take time off they all have to approve. I think that's so dumb! One more day of work....ahhhhhhhhhh.
Pretty cool with the copying & pasting.

We're celebrating Pete's & my niece's birthday Sunday. She's also my goddaughter. She'll be 14. That's my brother's oldest. That's where I'll be Sunday. EATING CAKE:mad:

Zoe, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Myra, I know you'll be fine at the conference. You always make the right choices that's why you've lost so much. So proud of you.

I sware if I hit the lottery I'm buying Terri a new computer!!! Seems weird not having her here right?

Good Evening Ladies ~ I'm home alone, Greg went to Vegas on a business trip. (oh all places!!) I am finally back on track. Yesterday was my first day back OP but I went over my points by 3! :( How strange that when I cheat for a few days, it's so hard to get back. So even though I wasn't 100% yesterday, I was back to counting points. Today I was REAL good and still under my low points. I'm afraid that if I try to eat my low number (5 more), I may over do it. I know you're not supposed to eat under your low number but I'm afraid. Maybe I'll have a few cookies for the 5 points.

Es ~ don't get too stressed with work. Like me, your job must keep you hoppin'. Mine is so busy all the time that when I finally take time off, I have a million things to do before AND after. My 'good' cholesterol is the high one for me too.

Jen ~ have fun this weekend with the boys and happy birthday to Joe!! I don't know if you remember that I had cancelled my vacation back in Oct and then again in Nov....but this one is the re-re-scheduled vacation from back then. We're going to FL. This was almost cancelled too due to Greg's schedule but it's looking ok right now......Florida, here we come!

Dianne ~ I don't like shrimp but this recipe sounds like it would be GREAT with chicken. Thanks for posting it.

Janie ~ don't worry about staying the same.....like you said, better to stay the same than go up. (hiding my face)

Hi to everyone else. I'm alone so I'm going to turn the heating blanket on and jump in with the TV in the bedroom. Es, like you, I've been nodding off early too. I guess taking the prescription cough medicine doesn't help....knocks me out.

Have a great Wednesday night and Thursday. Today starts a perfect week......:D

Dianne,
Thanks for the recipe, and congrats on the new computer skills :spin:! I made it last night with chicken. My family doesn't like shrimp even though I love it. It was very good although I recommend adding more garlic than the recipe suggests. I ended up sprinkling additional garlic powder on it at the table.

Jen,
Staying home for Joe's b-day sounds good. I always stay home on my b-day cause nothing is ever open on my b-day except church .

Hi EVeryone,
Yesterday I was a little over (.5) on my points but I did walk 6 miles and do 30 min on the stationary bike. I hope the Dr says I can go back to kickboxing soon. I really love that class.

Howdy women!

Janie - I'm glad you liked the recipe, substituting it with chicken, that's a good idea too. I think Zoe will be happy to hear it was good, cause she wants to substitute the shrimp for chicken too - you guys sure are creative with recipes;) Now me, I would never have thought of substituting one thing for another, lol. I would follow that recipe to the last letter (except, I do take away things I don't like, lol). Did you use the wine also?

Jen - Happy Birthday to Joe - the big five-0 huh? That will be me later (MUCH later) this year. YIKES! I hope you enjoy his birthday with the family and especially with those little guys!

Hola Es - que pasa? Happy Birthday to Pete and your niece/goddaughter too! Listen, I told you a long time ago to smack that office manager, and don't forget when you do it, you must say "Snap Out of It!", lol, CHER - my girl!

Hi Myra - How's that conference going? Drinking lots of H20? You'll be fine and since you have a whole week before you can go to WI, you can do damage control;) See how my mind works? lol.

Hey Zoe - are you feeling better? Still not 100% right? I know that cough meds I was taking not only made me dizzy, but it made me a dizzy broad! I was seeing these zig-zagging lines in my peripheral vision - really weird, had to stop taking it. Well, feel better girl! You have to be better for that fantastic fun in the sun florida vacation!:smug:

Hey ruth, sandy and Pogo - what's up, ladies?

Well, I'm not doing too great re: being on program these last couple of days, so I'm not expecting a loss this Saturday. Just hope I don't gain. But, I'm not sweating it - I'm just going jump right back on the train tomorrow!

Hi girls,

Dianne,
When I try a recipe for the first time, I follow it to the letter; if it's a "make again" then I will be daring and sub. or change an ingredient the next time I make it. I love to cook when it comes to making new dishes or special/holiday meals.....the day in and day out grind is what I hate! That's why I'm always looking for new recipes; the internet is a wonderful source.
And you'll be a young 5-0, right? I picked up some party goods for Sunday's get together, totally avoided the over the hill theme. The one I chose is "50-Better Than Ever!" and that's what Joe is

Es,
Just ignore the witch.....life is way too short to worry about people like that!! I know it's easier said than done when you spend the day w/her. Just have a "better than thou" attitude, she's way out of your class! Thank you for the kind words about being a gram. :)

be back later.....have a great afternoon!

Hello:wave:

Jen & Dianne, so funny about the office manager:lol:

I'm so glad the weekend is here. I have a lot to do tomorrow. I missed 2 meetings so I'm thinking of rejoining for the 300th time! I hate having to pay $24.00 when I can pay $12 to start over. I work with a social worker that's quite heavy & I've been noticing that she looks smaller. Today when I looked at her I could not believe how thin she looked. I asked her was she dieting & she said yes, WW! She lost 30 lbs! This program really does work if you stick with it. I love to hear & see when people are so successful.

I have to buy Pete something for his birthday & I don't know what to buy him. I'm thinking about a CD player for his car. Mine came with one & he loves it. My niece I'm just going to give her money.

I got my WW cookbook today. I haven't had a chance to look at it. I'm sure it's going to have great recipes.

Jen, that is very sweet about the 50 & better than ever. I like that.;)

Janie you go girl!! 6 mi. plus 30 minutes on the bike is excellent! I love kickboxing too.

Well, gotta go.

Hey Myra - Welcome back. Sounds like it didn't go too badly food wise. You made the choice to only eat half a dessert - wow, that's not easy to do. And whatever damage, if any at all, you'll take care of in no time.

Es - Which WW cookbook did you get? Is it the one with the "best collection of recipes" (or something like that)? Did you get it at a meeting or order it? By the way, love that rose (stole it!). Willie has a cd player in his car, he could not do without it. Even if we go on vacation and have to rent a car, it HAS to have a cd player. My man loooooooooooooves his c.d.'s :D

How's everyone else doing? Talk to you's tomorrow. Geez, I've been on here like 3 times today-you guys will get sick of me!

Hi buddies,

I caught a touch of the cyberflu too:(. Yesterday it hit me on the way to work in Boston. I put in a full day anyhow, just sipped some gingerale and plugged away at work, then came home to bed.
Today I woke up still queasy, but hour by hour I improved and by 5PM I was able to make dinner for the guys. It was a strange way to go low on the points.

I'll have to catch up with you all later. It is looking really busy here on the boards.
Hugs to all,

Hey girls, sorry I haven't been around much. I had three test this week so I've been keeping my nose to the grindstone. I past all the test, not sure to what degree I past them, would love A's, but I'll settle for B's and C's.

I weighed in tonight, I've finally been redeemed, I lost 4 lbs. I'm now down a total of 19 pounds since the week before Thanksgiving.

Sounds like everyone has been having a busy week. Have any of you heard from Terri? JEN how is your class? DIANNE, when is your birthday? I probably missed that post. ES, hang in there with ww, it really does work. SANDY, sorry you are feeling bad. MYRA, only ate half of the dessert, that is great. I had a piece of peanut butter cake over the weekend, I ate the whole thing, then starved myself all week.

I still have homework left to do. Talk to you later.

Hello ladies  ~ I'm still 'home alone' and you'd think being alone would be good for staying OP......NOT!! :( I was bad today/tonight but I am getting right back on track for the morning. I really don't want to think "diet" while I'm on vacation (7 more days till we leave) but I don't want to over do it either. And I surely didn't want to be this size for my 'fun in the sun" FL trip but oh well......

ES ~ 14 yrs at your job...wow, that's a long time. I am at mine just over 7 yrs and I really love it but there are times when I wish I was a homemaker. As for your office manager thinking she's got the power, I think a slap is definitley in order for her. Ha!!!

JANIE ~ just .5 over isn't bad. You exercised more than that off so you're doing great!

SANDY ~ oh no....did Dianne and I give your that cyber-flu? So sorry girl. Do you have a fever? That was really scary, to have a fever of 104 ~ I was worried. Take care of yourself, get lots of rest and lots of fluids....even if it's OJ instead of water. We're thinking about you.

Hi Jen, Myra, Ruth, Pogo, Terri ~ hope you're all doing well. Have a great Friday...(TGIF!! YEAH!!)

Wow aren't we busy. Everyone is posting.

Dianne, you can post 20 times a day & I would look forward to reading every single one. You always put a smile on my face. :D

Zoe, I use to love my job till all these new high & mighty, holier than thou people started coming in. I probably will never leave. Sad thing is we don' t have a pension plan. I'll live off of Pete's. 7 days & counting:cool:SUNNY FLORIDA.

Ruth, congrats on your 4 lb. loss. That is awesome. Busy studying huh? Hope after it's all over you can have some R & R. ;)

Awwww Sandy. There is something going around. Take care of yourself.

Dianne, with Pete home during the day I have to sneak to go to the stores. Those of you that know how much he loves to shop I can't let him know I'm going to the mall or to any department store for that matter. His hours are changing again. It was 7-3am now it'll be 10pm till 6am. He likes the night shift. Less people & more money. I'm going to Circuit City today to check out the cd players.

Hi Jen, Myra, Terri, Pogo & Viola:wave:

Well guys, till later.

Myra, the restraint you showed in having only half the dessert is commendable. I'd count that as successfully getting through a difficult situation. :)

Ruth, 4 pounds!! How awesome :D I feel the same way you do about tests.....we know we'll pass 'em, but want to ace them! My first exam is next Thursday, the day after Joe's angiogram; I'm bringing my books w/me to the hospital, as I'll be there for about 8 hours. No pressure

Sandy, take extra care of yourself this weekend...that flu bug may just be hiding.

Es, Pete will love that gift! I have no idea what I'm getting Joe, probably clothes. He hates shopping and always needs things. His new van has a cd player and he loves it; maybe I'll get him some new cds. I think it's wonderful that you're at your job for 14 years. Shows reliability and loyalty, work ethics that are sadly lacking in many people now. It is a shame that you don't have a pension plan, but even those aren't guaranteed anymore....look at the Enron employees/retirees.

Dianne, I'm in here 3 times a day most days, sometimes more! :dizzy: I know, I need to make better use of my time! Being "retired" is a luxury that I am taking full advantage of for as long as I can....my time is essentially my own and I'm loving it. :D :D

Zoe, Janie, Viola, Pogo, HI  Terri :( I'm guessing you're not able to resolve your 'puter problem.

We went out to dinner last night for a Mardi Gras celebration.....I love red beans and rice....and hurricane ! Definitely not a low points night. As Dianne says, life happens, we just have to do what we can around that!

have a wonderful Friday,
~Jen

Congrats on the 4# and if I know you girl, you aced all 3 tests. WTG :D

Myra,
Great job only eating 1/2 of the desserts. You are awesome!! Such control

 Everyone,
I was not OP yesterday. Thursday nights Steve teaches an Astronomy Lab. Ellen and I have our special girl's night out. I usually let her pick the resteraunt. Last night she picked Strizzi's the local Italian place (besides we had a coupon for a free dessert). Along with the bread, I had a glass of red wine, spinach/artichoke ravioli with garlic cream sauce. For the free dessert I ordered capacchino which comes with a biscotti. I drank the coffee and Ellen got the cookie. I was really bad, I didn't even try to figure out my points. I am usually in better control when I go out but for some reason I was totally starving and lost my perspective. Also I am really nervous about what the Dr. might say today. I did walk 2 miles though.

I hope I do better today. The guys at work are going out to lucnh to celebrate the end of the football pool. ( This is where I get awarded my plunger:lol: ) I will try to make better choices today. My Drs apt is right after lunch.

Have a great Friday,

Hi:wave:

JanieD, I always remember hearing lots of women on WW saying they had 1 day when they splurged a little more. Usually it's after weighin. Now if you did the Wendy's Plan, thursday could be your high point day or you can always make it up on activity points. I think it's so nice that you have that day to spend with your daughter. What did the Dr. say?

Jen, I make red beans & rice for Pete all the time. He loves it. Are you cooking for Joe's birthday? I'm taking Pete out to eat on his birthday. Sunday is just for the cake so we can sing happy birthday to the two of them.

Have a good evening everyone:D

Hi everyone

Another lazy Saturday. After being sick, I am trying to do some things around the house. I slept late today, something I really NEVER do but I guess I needed it. I did run some errands like the bank, the post office and the dry cleaners. Greg's flight got in last night a little early, about 10:08pm but still, by the time we got home, both he and I were exhausted. He's playing golf this morning....(something new, Ha!!...)

I'm doing laundry and then, I'm going to do something relaxing for ME! I hope that everyone is having a great day. Talk to you's later.

Good morning buddies:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JOE, PETE AND ES'S NIECE/GODDAUGHTER (WHAT IS HER NAME, BY THE WAY? LOL)HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JOE, PETE AND ES'S NIECE/GODDAUGHTER (WHAT IS HER NAME BY THE WAY?, LOL Hope you all have a great birthday celebration.

Awwwwwwwwwww Es - that was so sweet of you to see about my posts making you smile, you're such a Sweety from St. Petey!
Did you wind up getting the CD player? Oh, I meant to ask you which ww cook book did you get? And did you order it on-line or buy it at the meeting. I'm asking because there's supposed to be a kind of "greatest ww recipes book" out now, but I haven't seen it at the meeting yet.

Hey Jen - hope you have a great day celebrating with the family. Did the boys stay over last night? I know what you mean about missing them. Yesterday, we went to see Strawberry Irish Puffy Jade. She is sooooooooooo cute. You have to work hard to get her to smile at you though. It takes about 3 hrs. before she warms up to you - she just stares at you like a little bull-dog:lol: We took her and her sister Alissa to the park. It was a great day. Then at night we went to the mall to buy Alissa's birthday present. She said there was a place in the mall that stuffed teddy bears, cats, rabbits, etc. while you watched. Well, I can't remember the name of this place, but I've never seen anything like it! You actually pick out the animal you want, they have a machine, and they stuff it right there in front of you, then you put a heart in it (like a little valentine heart), then you pick out clothes for it. Now, I'm talking all kinds of clothes, shoes, accessories. I mean they even have cell phones for the darn animals. And the clothes, wedding dresses, little 50's outfits with the poodle skirt and the neckerchiefs, etc. Unbelievable. Then you actually go on a computer to fill out adoption papers and name your animal  It was an experience, believe me! But Alissa was happy with her "snuggles" so that's all that matters. But I'll tell you, when one of the employees was explaining the process to us, I wanted to bust out laughing. He was so serious!

Sandy - Sorry to hear Zoe and I infected you with the cyber-flu. Take care of yourself, its nothing to sneeze at -- well maybe it is something to sneeze at:D But, seriously take care and feel better soon.

Ruth - WOWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE - 4 lbs! Girl, that is soooooo great! Congrats, I know you must have felt wonderful. How did you do on the tests?

Zoe - Getting ready for your fun in the sun vacation? Are you doing to do disney, etc.? I hope you have a great time and the weather cooperates. When we visited the new grandbaby, David, in January it was actually cold in Florida - I was surprised. One night it was 33 degrees! Have fun girl, you deserve it after all those cancelled vacations!

Well at my WI yesterday, I gained .4, but I had a feeling since the night before we went out and I had ...........guess............SHRIMP SCAMPI :s: What a "pig-erella" I am. So dumb to do that night before weigh in. Oh, well, I'm not sweating it. I'll have that off in no time flat.

Hi Myra, Pogo, Viola and Terri (miss you, girl).

Have a great Sunday my friends!

Hi Everyone,
I was just scrolling thru the messages from the last week. There are alot of you who are active on this board. I have fun reading about where you are from and what you are all busy with. I'll sort you all out eventually.

I'm heading out for a walk. I thought I'd start with a positive. During the past week, I think I did pretty good staying OP. But, I again neglected to write it down. This week I'm going to try to go to the journal message board in the morning and write down what I aim to eat for the day. Then the next morning I can see how I did.

I did not go to my meeting. I went to lunch instead. I had a yummy salad, but the dressing was on it - not on the side. I'll have to get a bit more assertive about sending stuff back.

I'll send you the soup recipe after my meeting this week - I want to make sure I get it right. It's supposed to be one point per serving. There are a couple on this site on the recipe board that are similar. You use light velveeta cheese. My husband and one of my sons had it for an "appetizer" two evenings in a row! Never told them it was WW.

Have a good week!

Dianne, you crack me up. I quess that employee takes his job very seriously. If you would have smurked you would have insulted him. LOL My goddaughter's name is Alisa Rodriguez. She is so cute! I love to sit & have a conversation with her. She's very dramatic. We'll be leaving around 2:30. I have to go pick up the cake then we're going straight there. My brother lives around 10 minutes away. I got Pete's CD player. He loves it. Now he has to try to figure it out! I'm still waiting for the WW cookbook. It was an offer they sent by mail. What I thought was the book turned out to be a free gift. (lunch bag) It should be coming soon. Do you weighin early? .4 is so little. You'll have that off by next week.

Pogo, I've gotten too lazy when it comes to journaling. I start out okay but never finish. I don't know what the heck is wrong with me. I think I'm going thru my changes. I'll be 48 in April. I'll tell you a little about myself. My son will be 31 yrs. old, his birthday is 3/2. I've been happily married 21 yrs., second marriage. Been on WW since the 1980's but never made lifetime cause I quit all the time:mad: I don't have much to lose, around 30 lbs. I'll try & be back later to let you know how the party went.

Hi everyone!

Es, sounds like age-wise we're in about the same place. I'm in the middle of menopause - a pretty mild one when I hear what my friends are experiencing.

I just entered my "tentative" journal for the day. (on the journal board). I'll let you know if I can continue this trend for a few days. Now, on to my breakfast!

Have a good day.

Hi Buddies:wave:

I am feeling lots better, but Mike my DH is having his bout with the bug. I hope he will recover quickly too.
Yesterday I went down to the rehab hospital to visit my mom. She is getting so tired of the hospital food, I brought her a small chili and a caeser side salad from Wendy's at her request. I spent a grand total of $2.34, I told her she was a cheap date. She really loves food, and I suppose that is where part of my weight loss problem comes from, we talk about recipes and restaurants all the time.
:D

Es,
Happy Birthday to Pete, glad he is excited about the cd player, it is a great gift.

Ruth,
Congrats on the 4 lb, and 19 total, you are making great progress! I expect you did better than you thought on those exams, you have sure been putting in your study time.

Dianne,
I had heard of those stuffed animal specialty stores, but I thought they were only in NY city. I bet Alissa just loved the whole process. It is a learning experience to see something made. We used to go on factory tours every so often as a day trip. But as a grownup one of my favorites is to visit a vineyard in the Napa valley.

Pogo,
I know for myself that journalling every bite I eat is the most effective tool. I always have good losses when I do that. However, currently I am not in the mode, or mood, to make the effort. I hope that inspiration will overtake me soon. I think that reading and posting here and seeing all the good habits that we can work towards, that I am moving towards being better at WW again. I have only lost 6lbs since I started during the holidays.

Zoe,
Wow a vacation coming up, you deserve it, Have a great time.

Hugs to all,

Hi everyone,

Es, hope Pete's birthday celebration was great. What you said about him having to figure out the cd player was so typical of us! Over the last few years, Joey has given Joe and I a new vcr, cd player, and dvd player; last week I purchased a vinyl organizer, with different pockets to put all the manuals in. Now it's all in one spot, if we want to watch a movie, etc., and Joey's not here to give technical support! That really made me feel old......if he ever moves far away we're in trouble

Dianne, your trip to the bear store sounded cool; little girls must love that place! I do agree with Sandy, tho, a great field trip to me would be touring a vineyard ;)

Everyone has so many posts I'd like to address.....I've got to run some errands, so will be back later to chat some more.

Happy Monday!

Hello:wave:

Jen, it's so funny that you mentioned all the manuals in one spot. We have them close by in case we need them. First thing that came out of my mouth when I saw Pete having a hard time was"why don't we call David"LOL. Does make me feel old. The celebration ended early. I thought my SIL invited her family but it was only us. The twins had a ball with Pete. I was a little disappointed that she didn't mention it would only be us. I bought a half sheet of cake!!! Oh well<sigh>I'm sure it won't go to waste. Joe's procedure is Wed. right?

Pogo, good going with journalling:D I've been a little irritable lately so I'm blaming it on early menopause. It's mainly the people at my job that are stressing me out.

Sandy, how are you holding up? I heard about the Wendy's chili. I'm not too crazy for chili but I heard it's good. I'm so tired I could hardly keep my eyes open. I've been up since 3:30 a.m.

I'll be back tomorrow.

Have a goodnight everyone.

Es, yes Joe's angiogram is tomorrow. He did say yesterday that he's a bit apprehensive, which is surprising, cause he usually is the silent type. But that's to be expected; I'm maintaining a positive attitude for his sake.
I ordered a 1/4 sheet cake for his bday; we had 14 people here on Sunday, so there was some leftover, but not too much. Of course we had some last night for dessert  I don't know if I should weigh in this week.

Dianne, now that I've figured it out, my sister Kathie and you are very close in the age/grandkids stats! She's got 13 grandchildren and she's 54. :)

Janie, what did the Dr. say about your elbow? Sounds like your Thursday nights with Ellen are special; they grow up so quickly, it'll be a great memory for both of you.

I don't have class today due to the Lincoln holiday. My plan is to do laundry all day and study/homework. Of course I'll probably be back here later today

Hope everyone is well.....HI Myra, Sandy, Zoe, Terri, Viola,Ruth...

JanieD
02-12-2002, 01:12 PM
Jen,
Thanks for asking about my elbow. I saw the Dr. on Friday and most of what he said was really good news. He said that I am progressing really well. The bone chip healed correctly so I won't need surgery. I need to do more strengthening exercises. The one bad thing is that he is reasonably certain that, since I did so much soft tissue damage, I will never get full range of motion back. I may have to settle for 90-95%. I hope things go well for Joe today. My prayers are with you guys.

Sandy,
I had to laugh when you mentioned wine tasting in Napa. The Livermore Valley is the third largest wine producing valley in California (After Napa and Sonoma). I drive through the vineyards on my way to work. There are about 30 wineries within 20 minutes of my house. Most of them have nice little cafe's associated with them. I probably hit a winery for lunch once or twice a month. All the other local resteraunts serve local wines as well. It is really lovely and not as expensive as Napa because we don't have the "name".

Hi to Essie, Pogo, Dianne, Zoe/Patti, Ruth, Terri and anyone else I might have forgotten. Have a great Tuesday!

Hugs,
JanieD

Janie,
I was very glad to hear that you won't need to have surgery. It must be disappointing to know that you might not get your full range of motion back; continuing with the strength exercises will certainly help you to feel your best.

I'm jealous that you have so many wineries at your disposal! Joe and I have become very interested in wines over the last few years. We've visited wineries in Michigan and
Tennessee, have a favorite right here in a neighboring suburb; we are planning a trip to NY: Niagara Falls and the fingerlakes, which are dotted with wineries. I prefer reds, while Joe goes for the less dry whites. You're in a wonderful location!

Good Morning everyone,
I've been trying to enter what I'm planning to eat on the journal message board. Monday was fine. Tuesday, well - the pizza won! Today I'm thinking about weigh-in on Friday, so I'll try to keep with my plan. It looks like only two of us are using the journal for the Fab Forties - does that mean you all use the good old paper ones that they pass out at meetings? I always start strong, but usually by Wednesday, it's shoved in a drawer somewhere.

Hi gals,
I WI this morning and was I supprised. I knew I had lost this week but I thought it was only about .5 lb, well to my suprise and delight I lost 2 lb this week:spin: I am almost there!!!

Pogo,
I understand your issue with journaling but I can't tell you how important it is. I used to be very inconsistent too until I figured out a system that works for me individually. You just have to figure out your own way of being consistent. I neither use the Journal forum nor the WW sheets. I have a daily planning calendar (I use Franklin but Daytimer or any of the others would work as well). Anyway, I keep my journal in my daily planner. I also put journaling on my to do list for everyday. I can't check it off until I've completed it. I hardly go anywhere without my planner so it really works for me. If you have a PDA (Palm Pilot etc.), you could use that as well. What ever works. Now with all that said I do have to confess that there are still days where I don't get to check it off. :s:

Jen,
God's healing hand to you and Joe :)

Terri,
Where are you girl? We miss you!!! :(

Myra, Ruth and every one else (I can't remember)
who WI on Wed have a great WI. I hope you are all suprised like I was!!
