Wow, it's here!
We will have a happy, healthy, prosperous year.
If this is your first time here, we are a great group who follow Weight Watchers and weigh-in or used to weigh-in on Thursdays.
Some of us weigh different days but that doesn't matter.
You will find great support, new ideas and happy people here. So, come on in. ;)
Tammy, it's normal for you to worry about Tim driving that truck, in this weather. How are Bob and Kramer doing? :D
Dori, good luck to you and Justin starting WW. Y'all can do it!!!
Susan, how is your kitty? I hope playing in the band didn't make Pat hurt more.
Maureen, are you still out there reading this? If so, get yourself back to posting. We are wondering what you've been up to.
Amy, please post again!!!!!
Larry and I had a nice quiet time last night. It was hard to stay awake until midnight. We have so much to be thankful for.
Oh, since he's going to be home for a couple of months, I'm going to do my best to only fix healthy meals.
Last night we had a lot of Chinese food. It's the most I've eaten in several weeks. I stepped on the scale this morning and didn't see a gain! :carrot:
Everyone have a great day!

Happy New Year!!
Tina, thanks for getting us started on the new thread for the new year. It is so hard to believe how 2007 ended up for our families, isn't it?
Bob is honestly concerning me. He mentioned last night that he doesn't miss the drinking at all, but he said he is worried about other things. He wouldn't elaborate. I'll be pumping him for info later. I know he is sleeping quite a bit, and different foods are still bothering him, even mild foods. He goes back to the liver specialist on Jan. 23. I think it wouldn't hurt just to go in and see our family doctor and tell him the concerns. We'll see.
Kramer is another story. He is still wetting in the house every now and then. He is taken out often. He seems to be drinking more water, so I should get him into the vet before we leave for GA. I don't know how I'm going to handle being that far away from Tim and Kramer. We'll talk to Tim often, but it's kind of hard to do with a dog. Tim will also be flying to GA for a few days in Feb.
I love Chinese food! That's great about no gain!!
I haved tried getting things for healthy meals, but I never know what Bob will be in the mood for or what will bother his stomach. One of these days we'll figure something out.
Tim just said he's planning to leave here about 4:00. That should get him back to school in daylight. He said he'll call when he gets to the motel. I'm sure he won't have any problem finding a place to eat tonight. Bob said he'd give him some money to eat out on tonight and tomorrow. The band is being provided meal money for the days that they are in Toronto. Not sure how much a day, but I thought that was great that the kids don't have to worry about it. Their hotel rooms are also being furnished. They are so excited! I wish I was going, but I'll just have to watch the game on Saturday. Ball State plays Rutgers, and I'm pretty sure they will be on the losing in, but you never know.
01-01-2008, 11:54 AM
I just changed my tracker to show the weight that I've lost and the weight that I still want to lose. The weight I want to lose may change the closer I get. We'll see how I feel and what the doctor says. I had thought doing it in 10 pound increments would be better, but I'll give this a try and see what happens.
01-01-2008, 08:14 PM
Happy New Years!!! 2008.... oh my!!!
We had a good time last night. Pat isn't saying much about how his feeling. I can just read him. I told his friend Martha today, "Keep encouraging him to go back to the doctor." Maybe if we tag team him, he will.
I'm feeling good or better. Skinney (the cat) had to go yesterday for an IV of fluids to help flush his kidneys. He HATES the antibiotics and one of us normally ends up with some blood and scratches...... humans of course. He seems to be better. He goes back on Saturday for blood work again.
Tammy, ya'll be careful on your trip. I would worry about Tim, Kramer and Bob too! Keep us posted.
Tina, I know you are exhausted!!!!!! Try and get as much rest as possible.
Amy and her crew head back on Friday. What a long time to be gone? At least I think so but I'm a home body. :)
01-02-2008, 05:51 PM
Brrr.... It's too cold here to exert much energy for exercise.
I know, it's not cold like up North but we had a wind chill of 26 this morning. It's supposed to be a little bit colder in the morning.
Be proud of me because I'm cooking such healthy meals. My wonderful sister has brought us several things to eat and they were all healthy, too.
A friend from church came the other day with a large bag of fruit. They have a lemon tree and two different kinds of orange trees. We'll certainly get in all our vitamin C. :)
Getting rested is something I can't do. Larry needs my constant attention. My mornings are gone before I know it. I did stop this afternoon and have some hot tea and a WW chocolate ice cream bar and watched an episode of "Charmed." That was a nice break.
Tammy, let us know how Tim does driving that truck.
Susan, when do you go back to school? Is it Friday?
Dori, please tell us about your WW meeting experience.
Are they doing anything new/different this year? I haven't been to a meeting in months.
I hope we get a few new members to our group, since it's a new year.
01-02-2008, 06:49 PM
It is cold here too! This Texas girl would never survive up north in the great blue yonder!!!! BRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! Is right!
Tina, I agree too cold to exercise. I go back to school on Monday. I'm glad has gone back to work so I have a few days to do just stuff.
I am sure that you are having to do EVERYTHING for Larry. I remember when Pat had his neck surgery. It does get better :)
Tammy, how are you doing?
Dori, I think it's great that your husband is going to WW with you? Please tell us about any changes.
I had lunch with a friend and got my hair colored. I just wish I could fix it like he does. After I wash it, it looks the same :)
01-02-2008, 08:26 PM
Well ladies things are going well. We didn't get to the grocery store until today, so we will be starting a little later than anticipated. However, I have been watching what I eat. My meeting will be tomorrow. I'll let ya'll know how it goes. I'm trying to decide if I want to continue to pay for meetings or if I just want to do it at home. Justin will already be doing it at home. I will probably end up just doing it at home. The reason is we have bowling Thursdays and we leave at 6:15. Well weigh in starts at 5:30 and the meeting at 6. The majority of the time I'm in such a hurry that I just run in weigh and run right back out. We'll see though.
Sorry for not posting sooner. Trying to get into the swing of things after being gone for a week. *sigh*
01-03-2008, 09:49 AM
Susan, I hope Pat goes to the doctor until everything is straightened out with him. Bob didn't do that after he had been to the doctors last spring and look where that got him this fall. Stubborn men!!! Glad that you are feeling better.
How long has Amy been gone? I like to go away, but I'm always ready to get home. I know I'll really be ready after spending a little over a month down south.
It is 5 degrees this morning, BUT there is no wind for the first time since Monday!!!! That should help get all of the roads cleared from all of the drifting. Also, I won't have to go out and shovel a spot for Kramer every time he needs to go out.
Tina, that's great about the healthy meals. We have oranges and grapefruit that I'm going to peel and make a fruit salad for later. Glad that you did get to take a little break! I know you are busy with Larry.
Tim and crew were supposed to head out this morning. They should be in Michigan by now. Not sure what time they'll get to customs. I hope they don't have any problems. He has his passport with him to make things easier. I just hope they don't want them to empty the back of the truck of all the instruments to check things.
I'm feeling ok. I even cancelled my chiropractor appt. yesterday. The only reason I had made it was because she said if I was still having problems with the shoulder blade to come back in. No problems!! (knocking on wood!!) I do play to go in to see her before we leave the end of the month.
Dori, I can understand why you wouldn't want to continue doing the meetings. If you have something else going on, you really aren't getting anything from the meetings except the weigh in.
I really need to kick my butt and get moving. I hated to change my tracker to show the holiday gain, but I was feeling guilty knowing that the other one wasn't right. I want to move that butterfly!!!
Most of the goodies are gone, so I should be able to do better. Bob just went to the store to get fixings for chili for later today. Yummy!!!
01-03-2008, 10:26 AM
Tammy, 5 degrees..... WOW!!!! I can't even imagine, plus all the snow. I think the 20's is freezing. I agree with you on Pat but you know men. If I keep bugging him, he won't go for sure and if I just play it low key, he JUST might go in.
I sure hope Tim and the band don't have to empty the truck. That would be HORRIBLE!!! I plan on watching the game.
Tina, how are you? I'm glad that they are bringing you some meals. Cooking would be just one more thing to worry about for you.
Dori, I agree with Tina and Tammy! I would go get the information and not go to the meetings. You can do it at home and if you went you would just be stressing yourself trying to get to bowling.
I need to get serious again. I just like to eat!!! :)
Amy has been gone since Christmas day. They drove out and it took them 2 days. They are starting back today. I think they are ready.... at least Jump is ready to be home. They will get home on Sunday and then have to go to school on Monday. I wish they had a little time to rest before they have to get back in the swing of things.
Better get moving and go to the gym or I'll change my mind and not go.

A "Larry Report" :D
 We just returned from the neurosurgeon. He was so pleased at the progress Larry's made. He removed the little strips of tape and showed Larry how to shave around the area.
I didn't see it real good because the men were standing in front of me at the mirror. I felt like I should jump up and down, but didn't.
This time, the dr. said Larry's numbness should go away within a year's time. He was very positive that it would go away.
I forget how long he wants Larry to have therapy.
We go back in 6 weeks. Then, they'll take x-rays to see how it's healing. He might be able to take off the soft collar (but probably not for another month after that). I'm still going to be tired for a while. But, everything is positive!
Everyone have a good day!
01-03-2008, 01:55 PM
I hope we get a few new members to our group, since it's a new year.
Hi! I'm new here :) I posted in the thread in the sticky to introduce myself. This is my third time on WW but I do I'm doing it on my own this time. I do great losing the weight and then I'm horrible at sticking to the plan after :(
01-03-2008, 03:40 PM
Hi Kelly, Welcome!
Glad you found us and will join us.
I know the feeling - sticking with the plan. It's much easier said than done.
I'm Tina, I reached Lifetime in '92 but have been "off the wagon" for a long time. Once I upped my goal weight and wish I'd upped it more.
I have a grown son and one great husband, who recently had spine surgery. He (husband) wants to lose some weight, so, it'll be easier to cook healthier meals now.
Anyone have any great recipes to share? I will look one up and post it.
01-03-2008, 05:28 PM
Welcome to the group Kelly!
Tina, :bravo:  I'm so happy for Larry and YOU!!!! He sounds like he is really making some major strides.
It's cold here. My nose and checks are raw from being out from running errands. I had lunch with my student and her mom. It was good seeing her. I sure miss those kids and will be glad to be back with them on Monday (now ask me Monday if I'm as happy :)
Well, better run feed the dogs, and do a few things before Pat gets home.
Oh, I did go exercise this morning.
01-03-2008, 07:50 PM
Welcome Kelly. I have down WW's numerous times, but never followed it like it should have been. I started again today and I'm determined to lose this weight.
As far as recipes go. I have one for Taco Soup. Here it is.
1 lb Lean Ground Beef
1 can Kidney Beans
1 can Fat Free Refried Beans
1 can Chili Beans
1 can Black Beans
1 can Corn
1 can Rotel Tomatoes or Plain Tomatoes
1 can Tomato Sauce
1 Package Taco Seasoning
1 Package Hidden Vally Original Ranch Dressing
Brown meat and drain. Combine remaining ingredients and meat together. Cook in Crock Pot on High for 4-5 hours or prepare on stove top. I like using the Crock Pot because it allows all the flavors to blend. Yummy. Justin (DH) loves this recipe.
1 cup = 2 1/2 pts
01-03-2008, 08:19 PM
Dori, that recipe sounds so good. I'm going to make it right away.
Susan, I went out this afternoon to drag the Christmas tree out to the curb. Brrr...... Glad you had a good lunch.
Tammy, what's the word from Tim. I hope they made it over the border without a hassle.
Kelly, what's your weather like in Vegas? Does it really ever get cold there? I've only been there in the dead of summer!
01-03-2008, 10:12 PM
Hi all! Just a quick note to let you know that they made it to Toronto with no problems!! Tim called earlier to let us know. The band had practice tonight about 9:00. They are probably still practicing as I type. I'll check in tomorrow and read posts.
01-04-2008, 06:09 PM
Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Tina, a few weeks ago it was below freezing at night and in the morning and would get to high 30s-low 40s. This week has been much warmer! It's 61 outside right now at 3pm. The super cold (for here anyway) lasted for about 3 weeks. Not sure how long this warm streak will be, we usually get about 3 months of freezing our booties off.
It's funny how I think 30s is bitter cold when I lived in Buffalo for 3 winters...(Texas though the first 17 years of my life.)
I hope your hubby has a smooth recovery.
I finally weighed myself this morning - ack! - anyway, not so bad as I thought - I was at 156.4. I thought for sure I was going to be 160 again. I am filling out my 10s/12s :( Where did that size 4 go before I had my kiddo!!
01-04-2008, 06:09 PM
I am glad Tim made it there safely. I'll have the game on tomorrow so tell Tim to wave :)
01-04-2008, 06:12 PM
Tina and I are both from Texas. If Lil Sis ever post she is too. That's my little sister.
I'm just north of Dallas and i am ready for spring already.
01-04-2008, 08:46 PM
Susan, I can understand about not bugging Pat to go to the doctor. I keep thinking about Amy and crew getting home on Sunday and going back to school the next day. I'd want a day of rest first.
Tina, what a wonderful report about Larry!!!!!!!! Keep us posted on how he is doing.
Welcome to Kelly!! I was in Las Vegas once, and that was in 1987. BT = Before Tim (our son)
Dori, I need to make that soup.
We've had a heatwave today! 30 degrees!!! After 5 yesterday, it was great!!
Tim called a while ago. He and Lauren went to the National Hockey League Hall of Fame. He is a big hockey fan. He even got to touch the Stanley Cup. He has a picture of that. He said he got to meet a very nice and polite Toronto police officer. I thought, OH NO! I guess he was taking the truck somewhere, turned right on red, and the officer pulled him over. He told Tim that at most intersections, you aren't allowed to turn right on red between certain hours of the day. Tim didn't see the sign I guess. Anyway, he told the officer that he was transporting things for the Ball State band, had never been to Toronto before, etc. The officer checked his license, insurance, and registration. He finally came back to the truck, told Tim to have a nice day! No ticket!! Relief!!
I hope they show some of the band during the game. I know Tim will have on khaki pants (shorts?) and a black band staff shirt. I told him to wave and tell me hello if he's close to a camera. lol
My goal is to get started with my good eating habits and hit the Y on Monday. I need to go pay my fee for 2008. I'm getting a single membership with the cardio room. Bob doesn't want a membership this year.
01-04-2008, 09:44 PM
Tammy, I talked to Amy a little while ago and they were pretty far. They drove 12 hours today, so tomorrow they will have less than 6 hours to drive. She said the kids were being good but ready to be home.
I'm glad that the police was nice enough to let Tim off. That's cool that he got to touch the Stanley cup.
I've done something to my knee. It hurts (not the one with the replacement) but my calf is hurting too. I hope I didn't do anything to it. I just took Advil.
01-05-2008, 07:54 PM
I watched most of the football game but never saw Tim. :(:(:(
It's bad that they don't show the halftime.
01-05-2008, 08:49 PM
Susan, hope your knee is better soon! My left ankle is swollen and hurting. I think it's the rainy weather and arthritis.
Tina, I was a bit disappointed with the coverage of the game. Lots of shots of the Rutgers crowd and band. Very little of Ball State. That Ray Rice is a good player, but I think focusing on his mother in the crowd so often was a bit much.
Some of the Ball State players live on the floor where Tim will be an RA starting tomorrow when they get back. He called at 5 to say everyone was loaded and they were ready to pull out of Toronto. The other driver (Amy) went out to the truck at halftime to sleep, so she'll be driving the first leg of the trip. Tim will sleep (hopefully) while she is driving before it's his turn. They should be back in Muncie by 6:00 in the morning. Tim will be able to get into his dorm since he's an RA, but the rest of the kids who don't live in apartments will camp out in the music building until the dorms open at 9:00. Classes start on Monday.
I'm taking Tim's stuff over after church tomorrow. His car is over there, but we didn't want him leaving everything in the trunk, especially the computer. Not sure what other kids did.
We are officially leaving Ohio on Jan. 29. We have reservations made for a couple nights on our way to Jekyll Island. Driving straight through is a thing of the past. I need to make reservations for 2 or 3 nights in Tampa after we leave Disney the end of Feb. so we can visit Bob's brothers and their families, then reservations for a couple nights on the way home. We'll be home a day or two before Tim gets here for spring break. He's flying to GA on Feb. 21 and he'll head back to Indy on the 24th.
Well, I need to go do some reading. I've started reading the Bible in a year. I need to get into the habit of doing it when I get up in the morning, but that hasn't happened yet because I'm usually still so dopey from one of the meds. Many people think that I'm dopey without the meds!!!!
01-07-2008, 10:47 AM
Awesome, Tim is in band? I was in ASU's marching band back in 1995-1997 and it's so rare that they actually show the bands on TV even during bowl games.
01-07-2008, 10:55 AM
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm afraid that I really overdid it yesterday. I do not want to use my flex points but think I ate all 35 of them!
Kelly, is it hard doing WW on your own? I did the online WW for a little while but wasn't impressed. If I want to pay, I'd rather go to meetings where I can actually interact with others.
Tammy, did Tim get back okay? I hope you are feeling better.
Susan, how are you feeling??? I hope better since this is your first day back at school.
Dori, what's up with you?
Maureen, how is your weather? Any roller blading?
01-07-2008, 12:35 PM
Not much happening this way for me. Trying to get on track and stay on track. Last week was spent trying to get back into the swing of things and I honestly shouldn't have tried to start back. So I chose today to start back and I'm doing good so far.
Today was the first day back for students and they are off the hinges. AHHH!!!! I'll be so glad when 3:20 comes. My next class starts today so I will be very busy for the next 8 weeks. It seems as though I always have something going.
01-07-2008, 01:33 PM
Kelly, Tim was in the band last year in the percussion section. They cut back from 45 to 30, and he was cut this year. He ended up still working with the band as an equipment manager/truck driver/first aid dude/etc. He enjoyed that position, but last night he said he doesn't think he'll do it next year. If he is an RA next year, he really won't have the time to devote to band since he isn't a music major.
Tina, that's what those flex points are for, right??? I didn't think I'd like the online WW either. I know that I should go to meetings for the accountability. Maybe I'll rejoin when we get back from GA, or maybe I'll join TOPS. It's much cheaper, and I could still do the WW plan.
Tim got back into Muncie about 4:30 yesterday morning. They had to go to the music building and unload the truck, then return the truck to the rental place. I think he finally got to sleep about 7:30. I went over about 2 and took him and his gf out for a late lunch. They were both tired. When I took them back to the dorms, I told them both to go get some sleep. They both had 8:00 classes this morning.
He did his first official RA duty last night. Quiet hours start at 11:00. Some of the guys on his floor were still a bit rowdy about midnight so he went down and asked them to quiet down a bit. One guy got upset wondering who this kid was telling them to be quiet. Tim thought he'd have problems, but the other guys there were from the football team, and they told the kid that Tim was the new Ra, that's he is cool, and to leave him alone. Big sigh of relief from Tim!! lol
I'm not hurting so much today, but I'm feeling queasy. I don't know what the deal is. I ate some toast a while ago, and I am feeling a little better. I might go ahead and go to the Y for a while. I need to get into that habit again!!
Dori, today was my day to get started again too. I feel for you with the students coming back after a break. I do not miss that! I also don't miss having to take classes anymore. Have I mentioned that I'm really enjoying retirement??? lol
01-07-2008, 09:40 PM
I'm finally sitting down for the evening. I met with the new trainer. I really liked her. We are going to take it month by month. She had me use this roller thing and lay my legs on it. I moved so it was putting my weight on it. She said it helps find where you have knots at and it helps release them. I found several of them. She said since I have knee problems that I probably have a bunch. I'm going to meet with her on Mon and Wed.
I got back on track today too. I am doing it this time!!!! I think I've said that before but I am!!!!!!!
School was good. I missed my kids and I'm not sure who was happier to see each other me or them.
01-07-2008, 10:09 PM
Susan, I'd like to roll my body to find lumps!! Glad to hear you liked your new trainer!! I'm sure the kids missed you bunches too!!
I did ok foodwise today especially since I didn't feel so good this morning. I did end up going to the Y and worked on the machines in the cardio room. Didn't do the bike or treadmill because that room was filled with skinny people. Couldn't bring myself to walk in there. I did take Kramer for a walk when I got home. He was happy!!
Busy day tomorrow. I know I'll be eating lunch out, but I know I can make good choices there.
01-08-2008, 12:15 PM
Susan, glad you had a good day back at school.
Tammy, I'm sorry you've felt yucky. I think one reason I don't join a gym is because of the skinny people in there. And, I don't have those fancy, skinny clothes to wear, either. :)
01-09-2008, 06:14 AM
Tina, when I was going to the Y before, I must have been hitting it at the right time, because most of the people were closer to my age, and there were some who were my size or larger. I plan to hit the mornings from now on. When I went on Monday, it was after school, so there were several high school students and other young whipper-snappers in there. As for the fancy clothes, that isn't the case. Most of them were wearing shorts or capris and t-shirts. That's about as fancy as it gets here in the sticks!! lol
I was on the go all day yesterday, and I'm hoping to not be that busy today!!
Even with staying busy, I did remember to make wise choices with what I was eating yesterday. Also did some walking and drank water.
01-09-2008, 02:26 PM
Kelly, how are you doing today? You mentioned wearing a small size before the baby. I've never worn a size 4--a size 8 was more like it.
Dori, how is school? Do you take healthy snacks with you?
Susan, how are you feeling? Are your students getting tired during the day--not being used to school?
Tammy, That's funny about living in "the sticks." :) I think it's stupid to "dress up" to sweat but people do that.
Bravo on drinking your water and walking.
Yesterday I walked 20 minutes and the day before that I did 15 min. I'm slowing getting back into it.
Larry had his evaluation at the rehab place today. He'll be going twice a week for physical and occupational therapy. He feels so much better now. We just wish the hand numbness would go away completely. He can feel shapes now. that's an improvement.
I need to drink lots more water.
01-09-2008, 10:11 PM
Hope everyone had a great day. I went for my allergy shots today and they asked me about my break. I told them I was sick and the virus I had I ended up taking the 2 and 1/2 days of antibiotics. I thought I was going to get beat!!!!! The nurse said "Oh Honey don't do that again. You need to be on it for at least 10 days because now the infection is just dormant and might come back." She went off to see the nurse practitioner and came back with samples and a prescription. She said "Now take these" The nurse practitioner came around the corner and waved for me to come back. She is really sweet. She said "next time CALL ME, you don't want it to come back and be stronger." So I guess I was in trouble :(
I worked out with my new trainer. I love her. We did pilates and yoga. Let me say "It was hard work."
School is going good. The kids are happy to be back. But they are starting to get tired.
01-10-2008, 05:20 AM
Tina, I feel like we live in the sticks because we have to drive a bit to get anywhere. I do like small town living though. Good for you for getting back into the habit! I told Bob last night to push me out of the house this morning about 8 to go to the Y. I have to get into that habit again. My goal for the new year is to go to the Y at least 3 days a week.
So glad to hear that Larry is feeling better!!! It has to be so frustrating about the numbness, but even that is better. I remember how frustrating it was for me before my carpal tunnel surgery. I even mentioned to bob last night how glad I was that I had the surgery for my right hand. Now I wish I would have done the left one also, but it wasn't as bad as the right.
Susan, it sounds like you did get into trouble there!! Shame on you!!! I think many of us do that same thing though. Glad the new trainer is working out! Maybe I'll just drive down and work out with you. Ha!
I'm waiting till I change to go to the Y to get weighed this morning. I know I'll be upset if I'm not down anything. I feel like I've really been working at it.
01-10-2008, 12:56 PM
Still having a bit of a hard time here. I really don't know what's going on. I want to lose the weight and follow the plan, but generally have a hard time. I guess I need to take baby steps. *sigh*
01-10-2008, 09:54 PM
Get this..... Pat fussed at me for the antibiotics too when I mentioned it to him last night. I think they ALL need to mind their own business and let me treat myself :D
School was good. I'm glad it's almost Friday. Next week is exam week. I don't give them and try to keep a normal schedule well as much as possible.
Dori, pick just one thing that you want to concentrate on.... drinking your water, exercising, or if it's just making sure you eat breakfast. Then once you have that under your belt for a while, then go to the next thing.
Tammy, I live out a little too. Once I'm home, I'm not getting back out. Good for you for going to the gym.
Tina, how are you Darlin? I'm glad that Larry is doing better.
01-11-2008, 11:01 AM
Dori, slow and steady is the game but it can be SO frustrating when you want to see results quickly. I was sitting and thinking that if I could just lose 1 pound a week, I'd be down quite a bit by the end of the summer. Possibly even to what I want to weigh. I need to keep with it!!
Susan, lol to Pat and the antibiotics!
I did go to the Y yesterday morning, but then I had trouble sleeping last night because my back hurt. Makes me want to give up. I was using the same machines that I used for therapy for my back, so I don't get it. Not much happening here today. Naps are always good!!
01-13-2008, 12:30 AM
Hi everyone - I'm hoping you have room for more in this fun group? ;)
This is my first week on WW - I'm doing flex since there are "forbidden" foods on the Core. If you tell me I can't have it - I'm going to want 10! :D
01-13-2008, 05:51 PM
Welcome to cdonley!!!!!!!! We always have room for more!! Glad to have you join us.
Right now I am not attending WW meetings. I have been journaling my foods online. I'm watching calories and fat grams. Not doing the WW points at this time. Just trying to make wiser decisions when it comes to eating.
Keep coming here and posting your thoughts, concerns, and ask questions. If we don't know the answer, we are really good at making up things!!!! lol
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Yesterday I took a nice walk with the sun shining, and today it has been yucky with rain and some snow. I liked yesterday better.
01-13-2008, 07:18 PM
Welcome to the group cdonley! Like Tammy said.... if we don't know something we will just make it up :D We are do have fun.
I just got home from seeing PS I Love You. It was good. It is a little different from the book. I love the book and have read it several times. I read it several years ago.
I'm a little tired.... went with Pat to play last night. So now I'm sitting here under a blanket with a fire going and watching the football game. Hope I don't fall asleep. However, I will be going to bed EARLY.
01-13-2008, 08:19 PM
It's my turn---cdonley, welcome to the group!
I'm with you, I have to do flex. I need the structure of knowing how many points I can eat. Good luck. We are always here for each other.
Susan, I haven't seen that movie. Wow, I haven't been to a theater in months. Before Larry got bad (first part of last month), we just hadn't seen anything worth going to see.
We watched the last part of the Dallas game. I was hoping they would pull it out. :(
Tammy, yuck to bad weather. Good for you, taking a walk yesterday.
Dori, are you taking "baby steps?" Remember just one day at a time.
Kelly, how are you doing?
I blew my flex points tonight. It was fun. We passed a KFC and went back and bought chicken!!!!! Greasy chicken!
I will be better tomorrow.
Larry is feeling stronger every day. We are ready for the numbness to go away, though. Tomorrow afternoon, he goes to see the head rehab doctor for a check-up.
01-14-2008, 06:03 AM
Susan, I haven't seen the movie or read the book. Maybe I should do that sometime. I think we should all go watch Pat play sometime.
I started a book before Christmas, and I haven't finished it yet. I'm trying to catch up on magazines. I get Arthritis Today and Fibromyalgia Awareness. I always try to read everything in those to make sure I'm doing things right and to get new ideas to help me out. I also will buy the WW magazine, and I have to read everything in that. And sometimes when I'm standing in line at the checkout, I'll grab a magazine that looks interesting. OH! I also subscribe to Positive Thinking magazine. I just saw my new one on the table.
Melissa and I are doing a study where we read the Bible in one year, so I'm doing that plus a mini-Bible study. I also have Devotional books for morning and for evening. I think I'm trying to do too much.
Tina, lol to KFC. sometimes it just tastes good, doesn't it? We ate Mexican yesterday afternoon, and it was delicious. Glad to hear that Larry is feeling stronger. Sure helps you feel better too, doesn't it??
Heading to the Y in about an hour. I'll check out the 7:00 crowd and see how it is.
01-14-2008, 04:51 PM
Hi ladies, I was hoping to join your new group as well, looking for a nice chatty bunch and you looked just the picture ;);)
I did a rejoin last week, I got to the meetings and following points for now, as it is summer here and school hols there are quite a few bbq's and improptu dinners etc that I need to be abel to account for.
I have been a member for years but faded in and out and lost touch with the ladies that I used to chat with. Makes it a bit difficult being in different time zones as if I don't post in the morning you ahve all gone to bed.
Anyway my name is Nikki so lovely to meet you all..
01-14-2008, 05:09 PM
Nikki--:welcome: We are so happy you found us.
Not to worry about when you post. We post at different times of the day. I'm sometimes on late at night!
Wow, I'd love to be down there with you for summer. :D I'm not a cool/cold weather person.
Would you tell us a little about where you live! What's your favorite fruit? I love peaches and have to get the frozen ones now.
I hope everyone has had a good day.
Larry went to see the main rehab doctor (from the hospital). The dr. told him he was doing too good. Usually, people with such major surgery don't come back so fast. That was nice to hear.
We just want his hands to de-numb! Larry is more patient than me. :)
01-14-2008, 05:23 PM
Hi Tina, thanks for the welocme, do you know I have never heard frozen peaches, do you buy them in the supermarket, like the frozen berries? I live in Auckland, New Zealand, at the moment we are right in the middle of summer, and although it is nice and warm it is not unbearably hot and never gets to really high temps, I am not sure how to convert the celsius but is around 25c during the day. Our winters are OK and it doesn't snow in Akl but it sure does rain a lot!!
The nectarines, plums and peaches are lovely at the moment, I love all those things but cherries would be me absolute favourite I think, I love Xmas when you get to eat lots of them !!! Second would be a tie between strawberries and watermelon.
Your Larry sounds like he is doing well, I once did something to my back, maybe a nerve or something and I was stuck on the floor and couldn't move, it really makes you realiseif you don't ahve your health you have nothing. My father had huge problems with his sciatica nerve and got very sad, so it is nice to hear that he is on the mend so well !!! Is nearly lunchtime here I am at work, best I go and do some work :-)
01-14-2008, 08:34 PM
Nikki, yes, we do like to chat!!!! Welcome!!! You never know when we will be reading posts. I'm often up in the middle of the night to let the dog out, well, it seems like the middle of the night. I often check for messages then. I always get confused on the celcius and Fahrenheit stuff. It has been snowing here today, nothing terrible though. It's about 26 degrees Fahrenheit, and that's pretty cold especially with the wind blowing.
Tina, that is wonderful about what the doctor said about Larry!!! Bob is the impatient one in this house.
I went to the Y about 7:15 this morning, and I left there at 8:30. Tonight I went to the water aerobics class, and we had a blast!! I need to go to the Y earlier, because it got really busy about 7:30.
01-14-2008, 09:22 PM
Hi Nikki, Welcome to the group!!! Yes, we LOVE TO CHAT :D You never know what we will be talking about. We've been chatting for a while!!!!! and there is always something to say! So we are glad that you joined us!!!
I live just north of Dallas, Texas. I teach hearing impaired mentally challenged students. I love what I do. However, you will find out that some days are more stressful than others.
I have one child. He would be 3 1/2 years old. He passed away when he was 2 months and 24 days old. He was born 11 weeks premature. But what a blessing he was!!!!
Tina, YEA!!!! for Larry!!!!! I'm glad that he is doing well. Recovery is never fast enough.
Tammy, good job going to the Y. I love water aerobics.
I went to work out tonight. I really like my new trainer! I think she is going to really help me.
01-14-2008, 09:37 PM
Hey all -- thanks for the warm welcome! :D
I have a week off before I start a new job venture - whoo! So you'd think I'd be exercising my rear off...but without the daily structure a job provides, I keep saying, "I'll work out later" Oy...maybe the dancing carrot will motivate me. :carrot: lol
I have a 6 yo DS and a 4yo DD - and they are a bunch of goofs. Right now they are watching the oven because I made a batch of that Apple/Oatmeal pudding - they LOVE it.
01-15-2008, 12:20 PM
Susan, I just can't imagine a school teacher's life being stressful at all! I mean you only work a few hours a day, you get summers and holidays off, what's the deal??????????????? HA! If people only knew!!
cdonley, I think I'm hungry for that pudding!!
I went to the Y again this morning. Need to get into the habit of getting up and moving instead of getting up and being a slug.
01-15-2008, 02:31 PM
Morning ladies, Tammy it would be hard to get motivated with that snow, where is OH, US - Ohio?? :o I sit here with a map of the US and a calculator for the lb's conversions otherwise it gets me a bit confused :D
Susan you are obviously one of those people I admire and that we couldn't do without in the world, what a good job you do  I do IT project management so although it can be stressful sometimes it is rather cruisy, hence my being on here during work!!
Wednesdays here are bikkie Wed, and the office next to mine is the "lunchroom" so it does take a lot of willpower not to pop next door - bikkies are a huge weakness of mine, I love all of them - only ones I don't eat are the belgium ones which are cinnamon softer bikkies stuck together with raspberry creamy icing.. what the ???????? :barf: and at this stage I can't stop at one or two, has to be all or nothing so I am trying the nothing approach for now. I will have to check the roster for when it is my turn and provide carrot sticks :carrot::carrot: that would upset the fellow workers !!!
I am trying to the www.c25k.com which is couch to 5km's (not sure what that is in miles) in 9 weeks, so I am on the second week and seems to be going OK, Monday gave me a sore back but that seems to have gone away for now, we also do workplace stretches each day so think that helps!!!!
Anyway enough from me, hello to cdonley a newbie like me, that pudding sounds lovely, my kids are 10 and 11 so they are more the sit on the couch hurry and bring it to us mum types..
01-15-2008, 08:08 PM
Nikki, yes I am in Ohio. I am very close to the Indiana border, about 15 miles from me. I get confused with all of the measurements also. I believe that those bikkies would do me in! It would be hard not to join in on the eating.
The reason that I picked on Susan about her job is because I just retired from 30 years of teaching. I ran into a couple of parents of some of my former students this afternoon at Wal Mart. They both told me how their boys still talk about how much fun they had in my class way back in 2nd grade. The boys are now in college!
01-15-2008, 09:27 PM
Nikki, those bikki sound wonderful!!!! I can smell them now!!! Thanks for all the kind words. I do love my job! Now there are those days that I think I'm just crazy but my kids have really helped me heal.
Tammy, I know teachers have it SO easy!!! In at 8 and out at 3, all that free time! HA!!!!! I love it!!!! I still think my husband thinks that at times. I would love for him to come do my job one hour!!!
Do ya'll watch The Biggest Loser? It is amazing!!!!! I want then to come train me!!!
Cdonley, did you save us any pudding???? :)
01-15-2008, 09:32 PM
Hey Tammy that is nice having them come up to you, I sometimes see a few teachers I used to have at school, but not sure I would want to say hello, they probably just think oh right you are the one that talked to muck :D
We get the Ozzie and the US Biggest Loser, we don't have on in NZ, to small I guess. I love watching it so I guess if it has stated there it will be on in 6mths I guess.. is Bob still training - I loved him !!!
01-15-2008, 09:36 PM
What time is it there? It is 8:36 pm here in Texas.
Yes Bob is still on. I love him.
01-15-2008, 10:02 PM
Alright , already---I'm not getting notices that y'all are posting. :(:(:(
It's hard right now for me to have time to get online. I cook and clean and help Larry with showering and take him to therapy and go outside walking with him. I' so happy he's better. I'm trying to pace myself so I don't get down.
Nikki, I also live in Texas. I'm in Houston.
I must ask---what are bikkis?
Cdonley, that pudding does sound good!!!
Susan, how is Pat feeling? Has he decided to go see a doctor?
Dori, what's going on with you???
Tammy, bravo for going to the Y and water aerobics. It sounds like you're getting in shape for your trip. How many days is it until you leave?
Maureen, are you still lurking around?
01-15-2008, 10:08 PM
Susan, it's funny because when we first were dating, Bob just didn't see what the big thing was with teaching. After we got married, he saw all of the work that I brought home and how much time I put in at school, nad he changed his opinion. He came to bat for teachers when others would make comments about us. His brothers used to be royal pains in the patootie about teachers, but even they are more mellow now.
Nikki, when I met with my friend today for our Bible study, I looked up and there was a boy (man?) walking across the restaurant to a table near ours. He was with a man that I'm pretty sure is a probation officer. I looked at the younger one, and I realized he was one of my former students. He looked at me and called me by name, and he told his po who I was. I called him by name, and he was really surprised that I remembered him. He was a really good kid for me, but I know that he got into some trouble during his high school years.
When you see one of your former teachers, say something to them!! I know how good it makes me feel when my kids do that to me.
01-17-2008, 10:14 AM
Ummmm, this is the Chatters Thread. Where is everyone????????????
I got up this morning and headed to the Y. It was snowing and blowing, but I knew that I needed to do it. Felt good once I got there.
Hope you are all doing well!!
Post People!! Please??
01-17-2008, 10:45 AM
I went out and did day 1 of week 2 in the Couch 2 5k (again)
I started the program last Spring and I never made it past week 4 in the training. However, I did do a 12K (about 7 miles I think) and ran about 4 miles of it - not continuously. Anyway though, I'd like to complete the program this time and be able to run a 5k without stopping - whoo.
It was so cold though that my toes were numb for the first part - brrrr
I got up this morning and headed to the Y. Good job Tammy! :carrot:
01-17-2008, 02:41 PM
I'm really still here. Taking care of Larry and everything else is about all I can handle now.
I need that spa trip right now!
01-17-2008, 04:21 PM
cdonley, good for you for getting out and moving!! It is hard to do sometimes, isn't it? I am usually a very warm blooded person, but I just can't get warm today. That happened a couple weeks ago too. My hands are so cold, I am seriously considering putting on a pair of gloves.
Tina, I know you are busy. Believe me, I can relate!!! As time goes on, it will get easier on you, but don't let yourself get too tired. I can relate to that too!!
I need to get out a suitcase and start throwing things in it that we'll need for the warmer (hopefully) weather down south. We're going to pack a smaller suitcase just for the nights we stay over on the way to Georgia. I can't believe that the time is almost here!! We leave the 29th. Our first day is really going to be a killer. NOT! We are going to the gambling boat that we like in southern Indiana for the night. Free room, free meal, lots of people watching. We decided to do that and then really head out the next morning early. We'll stay in northern GA on the 30th. We arrive at Jekyll Island on the 31st. We're staying at a Days Inn ($50 for the night) at a hotel right on the ocean. We move into the condo on Feb. 1.
My food journaling has been great this week. I am also journaling my workouts, which has been interesting to see. I hope that I am into the habit of doing something most days of the week that when we get to GA, I keep it up. I know that there will be plenty of walking!! I'm planning to take the pedometer for those walks.
01-18-2008, 06:20 PM
It's raining and I might just wash away. Does anyone need some of this rain? :)
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Larry is feeling so much better every day. He, David and I are going out for seafood tomorrow. We'll get there around 5:30 before the crowds come. I can't wait!!!
01-18-2008, 07:14 PM
NO to the rain! We've had plenty. The creeks are finally going back down.
It is wonderful to hear that Larry is doing so much better!!!!! Enjoy your dinner.
01-19-2008, 09:26 PM
I didn't go to the Y today, and I really didn't have an official workout. I "almost" miss it! Spent the afternoon with Tim at school. His new room is looking nice. I had seen it right after he moved into it, and there were things everywhere! It is very organized.
Church tomorrow, then I'm not sure what the afternoon will bring. I should go to the Y I guess. Or at least do something!!
Hope you are all having a great weekend!
01-19-2008, 10:38 PM
Hi all - is everyone having a good weekend? I didn't get out to exercise today - bah! Tomorrow I'm taking a walk - no matter how cold! :carrot:
01-20-2008, 02:31 PM
cdonley, so far it is a good weekend! I haven't done anything today either. I know I should go to the Y, but I don't want to go back outside. I think it is up to 10 degrees now. When I got up this morning, it was 1 and windy. Brrrr. I did go to church though. I was surprised that there were so many people there as cold as it was.
I just finished James Patterson's Kiss the Girls. Boy was I surprised at the end! I kept trying to figure things out, and most of the time I'm close, but I was way off! I do like reading his books. I plan to start another one of his, but I can't remember which one is on the shelf in the other room. Also need to do my bible reading and study for the day.
Hope everyone is warmer than I am!!!
01-20-2008, 03:06 PM
I'm glad we don't have cold weather like some of y'all. :D
It was 38 and windy this morning. I wish it would warm up this week. We're expecting more rain, though. :p
Exercise----I get my arm exercise from moving the walker in and out of the house and car trunk. Larry should get a 4-footed cane pretty soon. Yea!
(He can walk without anything but they don't want him to fall, of course.)
Tammy, I guess everyone up there is so used to the weather that it wouldn't keep them from going to church. We were down some at church this morning.
I do not like to read much. I'm the only one in the family.
Hope everyone is okay. Some people aren't posting to tell us how they are. hint...hint...hint.........
01-20-2008, 05:17 PM
Tina, after Bob was in the car accident a few years ago, he had one of those canes too. He was so afraid he would fall and mess everything up that they had fixed. There are times that I think I could use one. Last week at church there were about 180 people, and today we weren't much under that. I love to read!!!!!!!! Bob used to read all the time, and he rarely does anymore. Tim gets started on a book and has trouble putting it down (like me), but he goes for ages between reading anything.
I didn't go to the Y this afternoon. I did take a nap though!! I thought I'd check out things on the computer, then I need to get my Bible reading/study done for today. THEN I can start [U]Four Blind Mice[U] by James Patterson.
I'm meeting a group of teachers (some retired, some still teaching) for lunch tomorrow. It is always a fun time. The 3 of us who are retired are all leaving on trips soon. I'm going to GA, Deb is going to Florida, and Pam is going to China. Pam won't be gone as long as Deb and I though. lol
Hope to hear from everyone!!!!!
01-20-2008, 05:32 PM
Hi Ladies, well another Monday morning, is 11:25am here and I am pleased to say I survived the w/end diet wise, and will go and weigh in tonight at the meeting. The leader is on borrowed time, my time that is, I don't find her very motivating or personable so I am giving it a few weeks before I change meetings, am ever hopeful she is just filling and will be replaced, mean I know but not all of us click that well do we, and I likto be inspired. One thing that does inspire me as she would have 3-5 rings on each finger !! yes and the pinkies, so I think maybe that was her 5kg reward as she has lost a lot of weight :D
The w/end was OK I do have a puter at home but have to wrestle the kids to get on it, I had Friday off and then sports with the kids on Sat. I did however do my t-mill all last week, and this is week 3 of the c25k which I managed today and are quite pleased with myself.
It is raining today but still humid, hopefully that will go away by tomorrow as DD has a cheer camp to go to for 4 days, ahhh the peace and quiet :jig::jig: I still have DS but he spends most of his time annoying Dh. I also like to read but haven't been doing much of it lately, got a book read at the beach while we were there but the kids still want to do stuff so can't read all day long. I have promised myself that each week I have a loss on the scale I am allowed to buy a Womans Mag, that can be my treat as I luuurrvee the gossip mags.
Anyhow I have best go do some work, fingers crossed the scales are my friend tonight - how much longer of winter do you have Tammy?
01-20-2008, 11:05 PM
Good luck at weigh in Shaker!!! I have been to meetings where I really didn't care for the leader either. I like your reward of a magazine when you have a loss!! Good idea!!!
We can have winter and some pretty nasty snow up to the beginning of March. Usually it's decent after that. I say that thinking of when my son was born (March 5). There had been an ice storm a couple days before and the roads were awful.
Hope you have all had a nice weekend, and I hope the upcoming week is good for all of us when we hit the scales!!!
01-21-2008, 09:16 AM
Our dachsund died during the night. I'm a mess. I'm meeting Tim halfway so we can just give each other a hug this afternoon. Bob is even upset, and it really surprised me. I guess he knows how much that silly dog meant to me.
01-21-2008, 09:35 AM
:cry::cry::cry: Oh, Tammy :(
I am so sorry about Kramer. He was such a darling little dog.
You know that we all are grieving with you.
01-21-2008, 05:30 PM
Tammy that is sooo sad about the doggy :( I hope you feel better soon, such a shame was he getting on in doggy years?
I am a foster mummy for the spca, but I just foster kittens, I have 4 of them at the moment, funny little characters they are, but I don't think i could do doggys would get to attached to them!!!
I had a good meeting lost another kilo, am well pleased and the meeting leader was a diffeent lady :D she is only a stand-in though, bit of a hard meeting to find a leader I guess, we are a tough ole lot ha ha. I don't think they get paid much and at the moment every mum and their aunt is joining, always a big rush in Jan I suppose, but it takes a long time to pay and weigh.
Have a good tue everyone, I am alone tonight have got D at :cheer2: camp, DH going away for work for a few days so DS staying at inlaws as they are still on school hols so need someone to have him while I work.
Is blowing a gale today terrible wind, really humid as well with a bit of sun chucked in for good measure..  bye for now, my thoughts are with you Tammy..
01-21-2008, 06:13 PM
Tammy, you've been on my mind all day. How are you doing, friend?
Nikki, it sounds like you'll have an empty house for a time. What will you do with yourself at night? We should all come down to party with you. :D
Kelli, how are you doing?????
Dori, you've been awfully quiet lately.
Susan, how is school going?
01-21-2008, 09:30 PM
Kramer turned 14 a couple of weeks ago. He had been slowing down quite a bit lately, and I think we were kind of expecting it sometime soon. My meeting with Tim was good. We hugged, cried, laughed, talked. We both needed it.
Nikki, you must be tough on those leaders!! lol I agree with Tina about coming to party with you.
Tina, I'm doing ok. Then it hits, and I burst into tears and cry for a while. Then I'll be ok again. I am truly surprised at Bob's reaction. I think he liked Kramer more than he let on.
I did go to the Y for an hour this morning. I need to keep it up, so I'll set the alarm for morning. I like to beat the rush. lol
01-22-2008, 08:50 AM
I did get up and go to the Y. I was only there 35 minutes, but I guess it's better than nothing.
01-22-2008, 11:23 AM
Tammy, Wow! 35 minutes are great. And, that's great especially when you are having such a hard time.
I'm glad you and Tim could meet. I am sure it helped him so much. Our "boys" try to be such big men. It's hard being away from home when something bad happens.
I hope everyone has a great Tuesday. The sun is out here!:carrot: It won't stay long because another front is coming in this afternoon-with more rain.
01-22-2008, 12:42 PM
Tim tries to be touch, but he's a softy just like his mom. He said after we called him yesterday about Kramer, he waited a while and then called his gf. She came over to be with him, and they cried together. She is usually scared of dogs, but when she came here for the weekend, she and Kramer were buddies.
I want some sunshine!! It is snowing and sleeting here, and the wind is blowing. I'm glad I'm inside. I'm supposed to go to an Emmaus Gathering tonight, but I'm really not sure that will happen. Might just stay in and hibernate.
01-22-2008, 03:51 PM
Hi ladies, well yes do come and party at my place :hat::hat::cheers: I was feeling a bit down this morning but am sure that will cheer me up :D
Tammy hope you are feeling Ok and good on ya for going to the Y !! We need some sun here to, is a bit overcast and been a bit drizzly, still humid though.. it is suppose to clear this arvo so that is grand.
I stayed up and watched the tennis for a bit then went to bed, I got up to do my run this morning on the tmill and are quite tired now, is funny when you don't have to be quiet so as not to wake anyone.
Have a fab Wed everyone, I like being first to get here.. bye
01-22-2008, 03:59 PM
Hi Nikki, did you watch the funeral of Sir Edmond Hillary? I just assume it was on your TV.
It's still really nice here, 70! Tammy, you can come on down for some warm weather!
How is everyone today?
01-22-2008, 04:01 PM
Yes I did watch some of it, there have been a lot of tributes to him lately, great man that he was. Do you know what the conversion from F to Celcius is there Tina?
01-23-2008, 10:03 PM
Hello all. Things are still pretty tough, but I'm not crying as often today as I have been. Bob had an appt. with the liver specialist today, and he is very pleased with the progress that he has made. He has to go for bloodwork which I think should have been done before the appointment. Now we have to call to get those results because the doctor may be switching some of the meds.
I brought suitcases in from the garage today. I think we need to get serious about this packing thing! I have things on top of the dresser in the bedroom, so I guess I can throw those in one of the cases. We know where there is a Wal Mart close to where we are staying, so we can always go shopping. lol
The condo place has a workout room. I wasn't sure about that. I'm glad because I've gotten into the habit (or almost into the habit) of going to the Y and doing the bike, treadmill, and cardio machines. There will also be plenty of walking space on the beach! I can't wait.
We were up to almost 30 degrees today! Heat wave!!
I'm behind in my Bible reading that I started Jan. 1. I've tried to read the past couple of days, and all I'd do is cry. Tonight I sat down and read, so I am almost caught up.
Carol, Melissa, and I are meeting for Chinese tomorrow night. We decided that we needed to get together before I leave. Tim is coming home on Saturday afternoon, has to go back early evening. Bob's son and his family are coming over on Sat. also.
Hope you all had a great day!!!
I want my butterfly to move faster.
01-23-2008, 11:00 PM
Ok, I'm not getting notices of posts. I thought everyone had been really quiet but I see differently :(
Tammy, how are you doing my friend? I know it's rough. when do you leave foe your trip?
Tina, I'm glad that Larry is doing better. I know that ya'll enjoyed going out to dinner with David.
I'm doing ok. I got 2 new guinea pigs today. A momma and a 2 month old baby. They are so cute. The girls loved them.
01-23-2008, 11:26 PM
Susan, we will be leaving sometime on Tuesday the 29th. We aren't going too far that day. Just to the riverboat in southern Indiana. Maybe we'll make some $$ gambling for the trip. lol
It's late, and I should be in bed. I want to get up and go to the Y in the morning. I like going early then I have the rest of the day to do whatever. Packing might be a good thing.
The guinea pigs will be so much fun for them!!
01-24-2008, 01:20 AM
Hi everyone! I've been silent due to a dead modem (bah!) and starting my new job.
Tammy, I must have read this and forgotten (darn short attention span :twirly: ) Where are you going for your trip? Sounds WARM! Yay for you.
How is everyone else doing? Well I hope. It has been COLD here - 12 degrees and then WIND on top. brrrrrrrrr
01-24-2008, 10:02 AM
We are going to Jekyll Island, GA, for the month of Feb.
I didn't get up early and go to the Y this morning. Slept till about 9:30, so I need to get moving. I'm planning to do the bike and walk today. We did quite a workout on the arms at water aerobics last night, so I'm giving them a break!!
It's about 16 degrees here this morning. Hope it's warmer in GA!!!
01-24-2008, 10:32 AM
:carrot:Good morning, Good morning:carrot::carrot:
(I'm letting the carrots exercise for me today.:D )
Tammy, you are my hero----going to the Y almost every day. I wish I had a water class, too.
Nikki----see if this conversion works for you. I found it on the internet (where else). To convert Celsius temperatures into Fahrenheit:
Begin by multiplying the Celsius temperature by 9.
Divide the answer by 5.
Now add 32.
cdonley, sorry about that dead modem. What kind of job are you doing now?
Dori, please check in. I miss you!!!!!:?:
Susan, send us a photo of the guinea pigs. And, sometimes I don't get post notices.
Kelli, where are you? Hope you are doing okay OP.
I've got to drink more water today. I haven't been. Instead, I've been filling up on Diet Cokes. :o
01-24-2008, 10:53 AM
Well ladies it's been busy around here. Nothing serious though. Just the every days duties of being a mom, wife, and teacher. I have signed up for WW's online and plan on sticking to it this time. Today is my first day official OP and I'm doing well. I plan on having a baked potato and some chili for lunch. I already calculated my points for that as well. I'm really excited about it this time around. Time to get skinny and fit. :)
01-24-2008, 03:36 PM
Dori, I love your enthusiasm. You make me want to keep my journal more accurately! Thank you!!!
I hope everyone is having a great day.
01-24-2008, 03:56 PM
Tammy, that's great about Bob's doctor appointment.
The only reason I can think of about the blood work after the appt. is maybe they might want something else done and it'll all be done at one time.
'Can't tell what doctors think, though. :)
01-24-2008, 08:32 PM
I did manage to get to the Y this morning for the treadmill and the bike. I felt good afterwards, so I guess I know I should go all the time.
Dori, good for you for journaling! I still need to put in my supper. Met with friends, so I know it isn't going to be pretty.
Tina, that is for sure about doctors. They are hard to figure out sometimes.
01-24-2008, 10:18 PM
Alright ya'll are making me VERY COLD!!!!! I know why I'm a good ole' Texan! It's been in the high of 40's and in the 20's at night..... and that's way too cold for me!
Tammy, take care of yourself and don't over do it!!! Yes, get some rest! I'm proud of you exercising.
Tina, I'll post a picture of the guinea pigs, if not I'll send you an email with them. I told Pat tonight that I needed to get them out of the cage to hold them. I want them to get use to being held. He actually let me put on in his lap. He was so funny. He said "Don't give me the one that wiggles a lot."
Dori, glad you are back!
Donley, where do you live?
01-25-2008, 09:51 AM
Ladies, I want you all to know that I did something yesterday that I have never done before.
In the past if I knew I went over my points I would completely blow the day and say I'll start tomorrow. Well last night I had a basketball game to go to and I knew I only had 4 points left. With that said, I had a hotdog, Coke and Snickers bar. After the game we had bowling and at the bowling alley I had an order of Nachos. Well I knew that I had definitely gone over my points, but instead of saying I'll start tomorrow I calculated my points and used some of my flex points. Yesterday I had a total of 42 points and I journaled them all. I'm so proud of myself. Today is a new day and time to make better choices. Ta Ta for now. I'll check back in later.
01-25-2008, 10:34 AM
Good morning, It's a beautiful day for fishes! I'm so tired of rain, yuck and muck. However, it's great that I'm OP and Larry is feeling better.
Dori, Good for you!!! You did the correct thing using those flex points and counting everything.
Keep it up.
Susan, do send photos of the piglets. That's so funny about Pat. I'm surprised he would hold one.
Tammy, are you counting down the minutes now? How many cases are you taking?
Maureen, are you still lurking? ;)
01-26-2008, 10:12 PM
Susan, I chuckled about Pat and the wiggly one!!
Dori, that is great!!!
Tina, you would crack up if you would see Tim's bedroom. He was here this afternoon to visit a while, and he just stood in the doorway and shook his head. We have 5 suitcases of decent size. We have a couple of smaller carry-on style bags. I have a CJBanks bag and a box. I also have my computer case. We bought a larger one to hold more of my junk, and it is on wheels!
One of the suitcases will have overnight stuff for the nights that we will spend on the way to Jekyll Island. That way we don't have to take everything out of the van. We'll also take in one of the carry-on style bags because it has all the toiletries. The computer bag will go in at each place also. The box and bag are for groceries that we are taking from the pantry and taking with us. Also the small crock pot, mixer, flashlights, paper towels, and other necessities.
I keep thinking that I am packing so much, but then I remember that we won't be home till March 6 at the earliest. Long time! I am sooooooooo glad that I have the laptop to take along!! What would I do without you guys for that long???
01-26-2008, 11:26 PM
Oh my, I wouldn't want to think what we would do with you for that long either Tammy!!!!! It's great to be such friends and we've never met face to face. I do know we've made life long friendships!!!!!
I can just picture Tim. I got a good chuckle myself picturing him shaking his head.
01-26-2008, 11:30 PM
Is that all you're taking, Tammy? You sound just like me. I'm never sure if I can do without something so I want to take it. Once, I took so many outfits and only wore one thing the whole vacation.
You all will have so much fun. And, yes, I'm glad you have a laptop. Those things are lifesavers.
01-27-2008, 05:58 PM
a Happy Sunday to everyone!
Boy, I've got to get back OP in the morning. This weekend has been "the pits" OP-wise. I have not journaled. I didn't want to see.
It's okay because I will do everything correctly again tomorrow.
Is anyone going to watch The SAG Award Show tonight? I love those award shows.
01-27-2008, 06:06 PM
Hi everyone - it is snowing here - about 7 inches so far and it is still coming down! Needless to say - I have not gone on a walk today.
cdonley, sorry about that dead modem. What kind of job are you doing now? I'm an office manager for a veterinary clinic. We just had our Grand Opening and it went great - but it has left me feeling beat at the end of my shift!
Donley, where do you live?
Washington State, USA
Dori - Great job journaling even the "bad stuff" ^_^ Isn't it fun to see though that if you really want it, you can have it (as long as you've left yourself some points.)
Tammy - that is a smart way to pack. NExt time we do a long car trip, I'm going to do the travel bag. Usually we do it the other way and end up having to pull every bag out of the car...oy!
01-28-2008, 05:21 PM
It's been a long day for me. On Mondays we get up at 6:45 because Larry has an 8 o'clock physical therapy appointment. (He likes early appt.s.) I guess that's why I'm tired.
Not much going on here.
Tammy, I know you are excited! What time do y'all leave tomorrow? Please be very careful. I hope y'all win lots of money gambling. :D Be sure to get on the computer whenever you can.
cdonley, you must enjoy working in a vet office. We had a beautiful cat, Smokey, for 16 years. The last year, we were in the office about once a week because he had CRF. The vet suggested I become a vet tech for her.
I couldn't be around hurt or sick animals.
Susan, are you and the gerbels doing okay?
01-28-2008, 05:29 PM
Hi--Kelli and Nikki---how are y'all doing???? :)
01-28-2008, 08:14 PM
I agree about us all being such good friends!! I couldn't go that long without being in touch with you.
LOL I keep adding things to the bags and boxes. Bob keeps reminding me that there is a Wal Mart somewhere close to where we are staying.
I haven't journaled since last Friday, and I haven't been to the Y since then either. Getting ready is really taking its toll on me. I have been sleeping so much. I took a 3 hour nap this afternoon. Tina, I rarely watch TV, so no to the awards show. I do watch some things with Bob every now and then, but not too much. 6:45 is pretty early, but I can understand wanting to get the appointment out of the way. Bob said he'd like to be on our way by 9:00 or a little after. I might be out of bed by then. I can't believe how much I've been sleeping!
cdonley, I think it takes very special people to work in a vet's office. We received a nice card and notes from the people in the vet's office about our dachsund dying last week. Also received a beautiful poem and letter from the doggy hotel where we would take him.
Bob's son was here earlier today to see us before we leave. The school called and he had to leave because his 6th grader was ill. We talked to Tim earlier. He is having some sinus problems and has a sore throat. I told him he isn't allowed to be sick while I'm gone. Todd told us to tell Tim to call him if he needs anything while we're gone.
I don't know if I'll be back on in the morning or not. You guys behave yourselves!!! I should be back on the computer by the end of the week for sure, possibly on Wednesday.
01-29-2008, 06:21 PM
What's going on?
There's a new house being built next door. It's been pretty doable until yesterday and today. The house is up and now they are working on tearing up the old driveway and sidewalk. What noise!
I've eaten within my pt. range today. Yea for Tina! :D
Tammy-----I already miss you!
01-30-2008, 12:05 PM
It's hard to believe that January is almost gone.
We've got to begin thinking about Valentine's Day. It won't be long.
I'm going to save up all my flex points and get in lots and lots of exercise before then. :)
01-31-2008, 08:02 AM
Hello ladies. Everything is going well this way. School is moving along smoothly and I'm patiently awaiting our Winter Break in February. Saturday is Teresa's (DD) 2nd birthday. We're going to have a small family get together with a Mexican dinner and some cake and ice cream. I plan on still staying within my points though. Next Wednesday is my birthday and I have no idea what my DH has planned. Looking forward to it. Well I hope everyone is keeping warm.
01-31-2008, 02:13 PM
OH, OH, OH.....
Dori, being from TX, I dearly love Mexican food. I might have to crash your daughter's birthday party. :o I'm sure it will be lots of fun.
So, what do you want for your birhday?:D
I hope everyone is doing good OP. We're having pizza tonight and so I'm trying to eat very few points today.
01-31-2008, 09:20 PM
Hi gang! We are in a Days Inn at Jekyll Island, GA. We move into the condo tomorrow. Looking forward to getting settled and going to the store to get some healthy foods. I've tried to make good choices when eating out, but you know how that goes!!
I'll be back on sometime. It's cool and windy here, but still better than the cold and nasty storm they are getting at home tonight!!
01-31-2008, 11:35 PM
Hey Tammy----great to hear from you. I'm glad y'all made it there okay.
Nikki, how are you doing???
Kelli, what's up with you?
