Happy New Year everyone! :)
This thread is all about the ONE reason we are going to stay on plan today. Of course there are TONS of excellent reasons to. But we're just wondering what's the ONE thing that's gonna do it for you today. It is meant to motivate us when we start wondering why we're working so hard and thinking "Ummm, why are we doing this again?". Or simply just to reinforce our new lifestyles.
It's a new year - with a new beginning!

My husband just asked if that was my knees he heard when I was coming up the steps... they are really that loud! I am only 34! That seems like a motivator for the day.

Im staying on plan today because I have a 5k race to run with my daughter in May and I refuse to let her or myself down by giving up. Plus... I dont think my sports bras combined could handle these puppies if I go at it the way I am now!!!! yikes...

I'm staying on plan today because life is great!
I just found out I have two years no claims discount on my car insurance and not one thanks to an offer my insurance company were running (woohoo!)
I also just hooked up with someone via facebook.... oh my he's so fab! I don't mean hooked up in that sense though! We've known each other for about six years through the internet and friend or whatever (although I'd kill for the 'whatever' with him) hearing from him puts such a big smile on my face! He's out in afghanistan at the moment so just praying that he keeps (as he puts it) playing hide and seek well enough
Oh and I'm on plan ;) and I'm going to the gym tonight and I'm going to kick some ***!

My One reason for today: Today,for the very first time ever, I could tell that my 11 year old daughter was proud of the weight I've lost. This is a biggie for me and I can't wait to show her what I can do in 2008.
Because 6 months maintenance is enough. I'm tired of the 170's. The calories are going down until I see 14-something. Then I'll re-assess. Today is a great day!

I'm tired of worrying if this batch of -insert bad food here...like cookies, or popcorn- is going to be the cause of a major heart attack or hospitalization. Sounds extreme, but I worry about it all the time.

Because I want to be thin (don't get me wrong I want to be fit and healthy first and foremost but at least I'm being honest in my desire to be 'thin' and I don't mean stupidly thin more the blend into crowd would never know I have been/am big kinda thin)

I'm on plan as I was at a hotel in team meeting's all day... managed to get my protein snacks in and eat my lunch (had a bit of an issue with me appearing 'awkward' for not wanting to eat what they were having but ho hum I stuck to my guns), got my liquid in and well... I did good!

The reason I've stayed on plan today....its day 7--1 week.
One reason why I'm staying on plan today...because after a week of staying on plan I lost 5 lbs. If I can continue to do that I will have this weight off me in no time!

Okay, today I am staying on plan because I AM MAD. The scale won't budge. And it *pisses* me off. ARGHHHHHH.....I resisted so much temptation last night, I was so good, drank 1 cup of green tea and lots of water after dinner...and this morning on the scale....NOTHING - no loss, no budge ....nothing! I finished dinner at 530pm, and suffered through the entire evening not snacking until I finally fell asleep at 11pm, with my tummy grumbling.
It's a battle this time - I am mad at my fat. Maybe my FAT is mad at me?
I guess I thought the first week I would at least lose a lot of weight (water weight) and right now I'm only at a 3 pound loss as I started last tuesday.
I am going to stay on track today. No matter what.

Kissingginger--Two things came to mind reading your post. First, are you sure you are getting enough calories? If you are not eating enough it can stop you from losing...I think your calories would have to be pretty low for this to happen, but thought I'd throw it out there. Second, i think 3 pounds is good! I usually just lose 1 a week, and when I first started my big debut was 4...3 lbs. is nothing to be disappointed at. Maybe you don't have a lot of water retention to let go of...that's a good thing! I think you should celebrate those 3 lbs and relax some. Stay on plan and the scale will catch up with you.
Maybe you should take measurements? That allows you to see the real change in your body, the scale doesn't measure real progress as much as that. :hug: hang in there!
Okay, I WILL stay on plan today because I don't want my slip last night to ruin my whole week. It's over, I'm moving on today.

Purplefirefly: I think I just needed to vent the mad out. You are right about the calories, as I am not counting I have no idea. I should try to find the time soon to see if I can find out what everything is. I just found out my bmr is 1975 calories, or just under 2000, so maybe I am not taking in enough food. I am not hungry though, except after dinner when I am determined NOT to snack the night away...I know, I could squeeze in a small snack, but I know myself, and as a major binge eater, it's not something I want (or am ready) to face quite yet.
I have measured myself, and hubby took before pictures - because I want to be proud of my progress pics. I just didn't think that remeasuring after 1 week would be a good idea...I though I might do it monthly.
I think it's TOM, my attitude, my focus - I know it's coming soon...
Also, I AM proud of 3 pounds :) I just had a higher expectation!! I guess I just need to re-focus!

I've eaten a good breakfast, a fruit snack, a healthy lunch, a protein snack, done an hour and a half at the gym with cardio,weights and stretching and came back and had a good dinner. I even had a bit of dark chocolate as trying to make sure I eat enough.
What's in there ^^ for me to NOT stay on plan :p

I am staying on plan today, because I am MOTIVATED today! :carrot: I have the whole day ahead of me and I am planning activities that are active - not sedentary. I am going to do a Richard Simmons video this morning, then head to Walmart (and park FAR from the door!) I also need to clean the house and walk the dog. No sitting at the computer or TV all day long (although this site inspires me SO much that I am tempted to!)

Today I will stick on plan because it is the beginning of 2 weeks "on the road" at clients, which means eating lunches out.... yuck!!! I'm planning ahead - and having a salad with grilled chicken today. Then I'll map out the rest of the week.

Right now, I am dealing with a lot of strong external issues that in the past would have caused me to turn to food. I feel very grateful that instead I am choosing to stick to my new food plan to the letter. It is the one thing that I can control right now in my life.
Just to let you'all know what those "things" are: my mom was diagnosed with two types of cancer two days before Christmas and tomorrow she has a hysterectomy. We will know by the end of this week how far along the cancer is and what the prognosis is.
We are going through some horrible financial problems right now and I have had to watch every food item carefully because I couldn't afford to buy more if I overate. There is no room to binge or even consider it!
My only daughter is incommunicato to me since Christmas. We have had a very stormy relationship for decades and it seems like it has reverted to its old self again. I really am concerned because she is a very troubled young woman.
However, today is bright, sunny and cold (for Atlanta) and I am happy to be posting that I am on plan today and hope to be tomorrow.:carrot:

I'm having one of those days when I don't know *why* I am on plan but I'm doing it anyways. I've been on plan for about 2 weeks now and I'm starting to get into that "familiar pattern" like I did before.
I'm kinda sad because another month went by without the desired result. I know that losing weight my help fertility but sometimes it's hard to keep a positive attitude about it when it's been taking so long.
My goal last week was to exercise more and I ended up playing wii twice last week for almost an hour each. I'm not even sure if Wii sports counts as exercise. You are moving around, so I suppose it should. Today I dusted off my leslie Sansone Dvd and did the 1 mile since I haven't done it in a while. I did it all without any major issues :-) I really should clear out this ticker on my signature. I did that over a year ago. I don't *think* I gained much back but it makes me look like I'm doing better than I have been :dizzy:
I'm going to try to do some form of exercise each day but that's usually a tough issue for me. Congrats to everyone else who has stayed on plan today!

I am not proud of today's reason for staying on plan. Here it is: I am staying on plan because I WILL show people that I can do it. I am on two different Biggest Loser competitions. A team member came up to me after work and gave me a diet and suggested that I use it (the fat-burning soup diet. . no thanks, I want to eat healthy for life!!). He is a rather thin man, and he said that he could lose 30 pounds on it, then just LOOKED at me. I know what he was thinking - he is not thrilled with being on the fat girl's team. I'm sure he thinks his chances of winning any money are shot to h*ll because of me. So my reason today is to show him (and anyone else who is doubting) that I can do it.
That is a terrible reason to stay on plan, I know. :(

DH's band played at the bar Saturday night and I got dressed up. Felt really good about how I looked - down almost 60 pounds, feeling great. Got lots of compliments on how I look and it dawned on me that I need to finish this. Lose the rest. Quit being happy in my size 14 or 16 jeans. Yes, they're much better than the 20's and the 22's, but I want to get my butt back where it belongs in a nice pair of 10's. NO LONGER OBESE OR OVERWEIGHT!
Had a good day so far. Eating on plan - never went very far off, actually, only gained five pounds in two months of "vacation" from the plan. I just don't eat crap anymore. Went to the Y today and did my treadmill time. Legs hurt, running minutes were WAY less than they were two months ago, but I got in 2.3 miles in 30 minutes, so that's okay.
One reason to stay on plan? I'm worth every bit of effort!

Anyway - my reason for staying on plan today is that I feel better when I'm not eating so much garbage. And I'm happier when I'm being good to myself :)

I'm staying on plan today, because I was disappointed in my weight yesterday. I was pretty inactive during my workday yesterday, and I'm blaming the LOW temps on not going outside and exercising. I only lost 0.2 pounds yesterday, which is ridiculous, since I'm still in the first weeks of losing. As big as I am, and as sedentary as I used to be, I should be dropping more than that each day, at least for a little while longer.
So today I am going to take the disappointment and turn it into motivation. I have the whole day ahead of me (dh is gone for the day), and I have a list of things I want to accomplish. I am going to stay active today and not become lazy.

Beth - I am glad that maybe something I have said here helps you. I found 3fatchicks last fall...I was one month into my living a more healthy life. I needed some support.
