Well, we sure were talkative this last thread. Made it to the 4th page in record time:lol:
Joanne - A lecture never really hurts any of us. Sometimes can make us see things more clearly, through someone else's eyes. I use BenGay (the smelly stuff) as it seems to do the most for me. I tried the 'Ice' gels, but they didn't seem to do much - unless it was right after a massage, and the fellow appliced it. Then it felt pretty darn good. Have also used Tiger Balm and it is not to bad either. They just smell.
Linsue - I have no idea what gold shots are either, but they seem to help Meme. I don't know if it is for arthritis or not. I am glad that you have a supportive husband, because that helps so much. My husband is that way as well, and tries to make my life easier. I truly appreciate how caring he is. I just joined ww and I want to lose 40 pounds, so hang in there with Meme and Me, and Ally. The others have already reached their goals and are maintaining, I believe.
Meme - Hi. Ross goes to MacDonalds everyday!!!! How horrible. I can't stand MacDonalds food except for their french fries. I think they make the best, but the one time a year I eat ff won't support a Macdonalds.
Mima - That a girl, Mima. Keep counting, the days ARE going. Soon January will be over. Watch that exercising as we can hurt ourselves so easily. I am glad that you are having a good time with your grand daughter. They are such a delight.
Candice - I will post that recipe int he next thread. I hope you are not hurting to badly. I suppose this up and down weather the world is experiencing doesn't help either.
Ally - Hello. Hope you had a good weekend.
Well ladies, here the high today is -29 or 21 below F. It is supposed to start to warm up tomorrow. We have had this kind of temps. since last Thursday evening. Thursday was 40 above zero - What a difference a day makes.
Well, my diet appears to be going well. Not to hard to stick to it, as it is basically how I ate anyway. Just added my own touches, such as cookies, cake, dessert, candy. Have never been a fat eater, nor have I eaten chips or had a lot of pop to drink. I just need to get everything back in order.
Hope you all have a great day.

WHEW!!!
Boy...that was a lot to read and now I can't remember what all I read!
Someone asked about gold shots...I think it was Linda??? They saved my life. I started taking them about 6 years ago...at that time I couldn't raise my arms above my head and in just 2 or 3 months of the shots I was about 75% better. The arm and shoulder pain is slowly coming back now so I don't know what he will do...I go back in 2 weeks. But the gold is for rheumatoid arthritis, not for fibromyalgia.
About the pain patch...The ones I am using right now have Natural Menthol in them...the box doesn't list any other ingredients. I only have one left so I'm saving it for tomorrow...I have to teach! After I pick Ross up from school I'm going to go to the drug store and get another box of some kind...they really have helped my arm.
No...Ross doesn't go to McDonald's every day...I couldn't afford that. But he does go a couple of times a week. If I have any running around to do after I pick him up he always says he is hungry...and I can't stand to see a hungry child! I don't like their fries as well as Burger King's. I usually have a few of his, though. Can't stand the temptation.
I've had Jenna all day today, she has the same thing Kaylyn and I had last week and she can't go to preschool if she is running a temp. Then all the kids came over to eat tonight. I'm pooped. I've been having a lot of trouble with my computer locking up on me so the guys cleaned it out for me and then reloaded everything. They worked on it for almost 4 hours and are coming back Sunday night to finish. I told them at least they were good for something! They said now I had to bake them a Milky Wonder Cake...EACH! I said, I fed you tonight...even made you a banana pudding...what more do you want...they said (again) a Milky Wonder Cake and looked at each other and laughed! Guess I'll be baking this weekend!
Hubby bought me a van yesterday. It isn't new...a 99...but has been taken care of and doesn't have many miles on it. It is dark green and in perfect condition, Pontiac Montana. It is fully loaded with everything you could imagine. Has a long wheel base so has lots and lots of room and seats 6. It isn't high off the ground like some...more like a car...it drives like a car, too. Has 4 bucket seats and a long rear seat...4 doors and one of the sliding doors is electric...you can even open it with the key remote. It has power everything, front and rear air, front wheel drive and even a tape and CD player. I'm excited...can you tell??? :p We were sitting in the livingroom last night and I was looking over at my (dead) roses he bought me last weekend...I said...well, it was roses last weekend and a van this weekend...what are you gonna buy me next weekend? A new house! He just looked at me over his eyebrows!

Mima...Sounds like you are having a great time but please watch those wieghts..I only lift pound weights now and I still hurt!
Joanne...don't get me wrong, I appreaciate your comments, gives another perspective like Happy said! Dh has always thought his job was more important than anything I do......they way he was raised! (those darn in-laws again!)
I use Bio-Freeze that they gave me in Physical Therapy but I can't hardly stand the smell..stong smells give me a headache! I use heat in the winter and ice in the summer.....got my heat on me now!
I swept out the garage today and picked up some trash that blew into our yard, had the dog with me and she got all tangled up in the plum trees sniffing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did good eating today..no sweets yet and points banked:) Walked the treamill too!
The road I walk on..wish it was paved:)

Candice - it serves 2 and has 3 points  Weren't you a busy one yesterday. Here it was so cold, I didn't even leave the house once!!! Today it is a little warmer going to go to 3 below zero today, for the high, but that is like a heatwave after the 30 below we had on the weekend and 21 below yesterday.
Meme - A new van!! good for you. My daughter has an extended van, a Dodge Caravan and it is like driving a bus, after I have been driving my little Honda CRV, that I absolutely love and would never even think of changing - except, of course, to a new one:lol: Maybe later this year we will do that. This one is a 1997 and we have never had a minutes trouble with it. Test drove the new model which came out this year, and it is beautiful. A little bit roomier all round and they made a few minor changes. They are so easy to drive and so responsive to touch.
Mima - What are you doing to yourself? Take it easy! I hope that you feel better soon. Those frozen veggies make such good cold packs, don't they?
Hi Joanne and Linda. Hope you are doing well this morning.

Happy- I agree with you but I would never want to hurt someone with words. I know that will open a wound and the pain is as bad as the first time. I tried to teach my son esp. not to abuse the right of being bigger and stronger where wemon were concerned. He still inherited a sharp mouth. I am not sure from which parent. My daughter is the same.
Candice- I know well what you mean about how these men are raised. I wish sometimes my hubby would be more like his father was. I never realized that as he got older he would be like his mother so much. She was something to behold.
Mima- You have to get that back well in a hurry. Your sweety will be their soon. Stop lifting that child. Even in the water it puts a strain on your back.
Mem- WOW! you made out like a bandit. Good for you.
Hey Ally- Don't worry what your ex. thinks. He has to pay the child support no matter what he see's you have. Enjoy your treadmill.
I had a good weekend and didn't overdo the eating. Been sleeping on my heating pad. The old back again. Abug bit my and my arm swelled up. But I'll live. My hubby wanted me to go to Dr. I said 'for a bug bite. They will laugh me out of the place'. It is better today....Bye got to wash the dishes...Joanne

YES YES YES...hubby has changed drastically since last year...it's unreal...I'm holding my breath because it is almost like living in a dream!
I've got to get back in the WW groove. I got out a little bit the week following Christmas...when we went on our little trip...and I haven't gotten completely back in yet! I go down 2 pounds one week and back up the same two pounds the next! I cooked dinner for the kids last night and ate a little too much...went over ten points! Now I have to make those up the rest of the week. All I've had so far today is a WW Smart One's Teriyaki Bowl...only 5 points. I think I'm going to have some leftover ham and green beans and a baked sweet potato for dinner. If I can stay away from the banana pudding, I should be able to make up a lot of those points today! I sent the choc. cake home with the little ones! Let their parents deal with the temptations! My son just said last night that for the first time ever he weighed more than his dad! Hubby has really lost a lot of weight. All his clothes are too big now.
Mima...better slow down or you won't be able to Boogie when Brad gets there!!!
Candice...you should see MY yard...Sammy went down to the end of the driveway and got the paper and destroyed it in the backyard...now I've got to go pick all that up when I get home...right now I've gotta go pick Ross up from Kindergarten.
Candicej
01-30-2002, 04:51 AM
Meme..there must have been something in the paper Sammy didn't want you to see!
Happy....I saw that when I went back and reread the recipe before I printed it out and I editited it but it didn't show up! I just made one and they are yummy..well that was my treat for the day! (I just used semi-sweet choc. chips)
Mima, I guess you don't have an icepack handy!;) hope you get some relief!
Joanne...my DH is too much like his dad..all business, everything revolves around it!:(
Hey there Allya nd linsue!
I made that cheese vegetable soup tonight, one cup is 1 point, had 2 cups so I had room for Happys dessert! Sending some down to the boys with DH tomorrow, they like spicy stuff!
Raining here now and supposed to be a mixed bag of stuff for the next two days

Hi guys!!!SHE WON!!!That beautiful little girl won the spelling bee. She got so tese she was crying. Now she goes to the county and if she won that-to washington. All the words are in a book and once she sees it, she remembers. I would have gotten a couple of words wrong. And she's only in the 6th grade. I prayed every time she got a word-I guess God knew she needed to win. The next one is in March but I won't be here. My back hurts when I'm on the computer but it's better. I went in the hot tub yesterday. Now I know I have to treat the yeast from the Cipro-lots of litle stuff.to deal with-but that always happens when I'm on an antibiotic so I avoid them like the plague. It's going to snow Friday when he has to take the train-I hope it goes anyways and that he is safe. Bye for now. Mima

Candice, would you put the recipe in the that soup. I love soup. I only have week one program, should get week two today. Haven't seen that soup, but my daughter keeps sending me recipes that are legal:lol: She phones and checks up on her Mom as well!
Mima - Tell Allison congratulations from us!! What a great achievement for her. She is a 'gutsy' little gal, isn't she! I hope that you get all fixed up soon. Yeast infections happen to me when I take antibiotics as well. I hope your back starts to feel better soon.
Candice - I am glad you tried that dessert. I will give it a try soon as well. Was weaning myself off sugar last week, so didn't seem like a good thing to do. I will have to get to the point where I won't want to eat more than one of them.
Meme - I am so glad that your husband had a change of heart. I think you probably scared him really good last year and that he does NOT want you any place else, than with him.
Hi Ally and Linda. Did anyone get hit with that storm? Candice, did it get you?

Hi Guys......I have been using my treadmill at nite and then limp to the couch and die. I was going too fast and too long. Have to cut back and get used to it.
Meme....Nice wheels!!! And there is always hope that a man will finally "get it"...so you can now consider yours a keeper. My ex is in my house right now helping my son put his new door up. My other son did his own as we had planned and wouldn't you know exhubby comes in and tells him it is all wrong. I said that it works and the door closes....fine with me. Now he has to make this HIS little project. He is NOT a keeper. Pretty soon my son will come in here with me and tell me his father is a jerk....
Candice...I like that nice long road to walk on...how far do you go???
Joanne....My son will tell me his dad is a jerk, but then he will turn around and act just like him.
Mima....How are the wedding plans? And the spelling expertise comes with the name. I was in the spelling bee in 6th grade and I saw in my son's class another Alison was the big winner this year.
Happy....I am embarrassed to admit that McD's fish sandwiches are one of my favorite things. I skip the fries but love that fish.
Joanne D
01-30-2002, 08:41 PM
Ally For goodness sakes don't eat McDonalds fish sandwiches, I used to love Burger Kings Fish till I found out how much fat is in them The breading soaks it up in the cooking. A hamburger has less fat.But you know that.. These sons are carbon copies of their fathers. But we love them just the same...
Mima.. There is a saying..Once your child and twice your grandchild. In other words as much as you love your child you love and are prowd of the grandchild. I hope she wins that next spelling bee.
Happy how did you do at your weigh in?I make a veggie soup where I start with a can of tomato or stewed tomatos.I use a can or so of chicken broth. From there I build it up with all kinds of free veggies. Put in some garlic.and seasons. Then I cook some pasta. When all done I use about 1/2 cup of pasta to bowl soup. 2points.I like to keep it simple as you can tell. I usually say if I can cook it in 15-20 min. that's fine for me:lol:

3 days, 2 nights to go!!Storm in the NE too, hope it's ok. Trains run in everything. No mail yet-it's been 2 weeks!!!!I had it forwarded. Alison has gone to Future Business Leaders of America today. She is such an achiever -sometimes too much. But firstborn are like that. I was one and her mother and father both are!!!!I know I pushed my son-at 4 he would go up to the McDonald's window and place our order. He was good in everything-other 2 are smart also but not like him. Alison has damage from the spina bifida-her left grain and right brain are not connected but they sure do work. I still hurt all over-been doing a lot of needlework-maybe that's it. I haven't gained weight says the scale in Winn-Dixie. It's the walking. That muscle pull hurts when i'm on the computer so I guess I'll go now. Hi to all!!!!Mima

Hi, can I join in with you girls? I just found this board and it seems to be really great. I post on the WW boards but I wanted to talk to others who have weight problems and fybromyalgia. See how you all are managing the pain and fatique while trying to loose weight. I was diagnosed with fybromyalgia a few months after a car accident. I had been having problems with pain and severe fatique years before that but my doctor couldn't find a problem besides a little early arthritis. I still don't have a doctor to treat this problem. I was in another auto accident a year and a half after the first and almost lost my right leg and injured my back and neck. I have had 8 surgeries in the last three years and gained over 100 pounds from not being able to excercise. Plus my right leg is shorter by an inch and a half and my back hurts all the time. I also have pain located at all the trigger spots for those with fybro. How do you all cope with the pain and fatique? Any suggestions on where to get treatment? My family doctor is about useless. Hope I haven't rambled on too much.

Welcome to you Kyredhead(do you have a shorter name, or can we call you Ky). I started out years ago with disc problems in the lower back. I had surgery 18 years ago, and have now developed o/a in the lower back, hip, knee. I have been diagnosed with FM a couple of years ago. It seemed to start out like a breathing problem, but apparently it is the muscles in the neck and sternum that cause that problem. With taking meds (and I don't take many, but I do take 10mg of Elavil before bed everynight) and no exercise, like you, I have put on weight. I have tried so many different diets, and have recently (last week) decied to start ww. I like the diet and I haven't really had to make any great changes - just deleteing all the good stuff, and I guess I could have some of that as well, but once I start I can't seem to stop, so it is just easier if I leave it alone. Haven't had any serious craving so that is good. I hope you feel comfortable with us, and just jump in. You will soon learn all about us. We don't just talk about diets here, we talk about everything. So feel free.
Joanne - 80 above zero. My goodness, I would think I had died and gone to heaven. We are slowly coming back, but it is still 5 below zero at the top of the day. Oh well, only 2 months until spring. By the way, I lost 2.6 pounds in 6 days. Don't know if that is good or not, but it is the best I could do. I didn't even eat all my points!, but I did try to stay at the bottom of them. Just one day, when it was 30 below, my body must have needed more fuel, because I was sure hungry, and I ate all my points on that day.
Mima - time is slowly dragging on for you, but it won't be long now. I hope that ice storm isn't wreaking havoc for too much longer. Did you try rest? Perhaps that is what you need. Being bent over doing petipoint would kill my lower back, and my neck. Can't knit for that same reason (good excuse I thought)
Candice - Thanks for the recipe. I am off to try find some Velvetta lite and then make this. Sounds good. I got a cookie recipe yesterday at ww, so will post that later on today. Have to hurry here, as I have to go to water exercises, and I am still sore from overdoing it on Tuesday. Shoulders and upper back really kind of sore, but maybe the stretching today will help it, if not a couple of muscle relaxers will:lol
Ally - don't try kill yourself on that treadmill. Start slow and increase by a couple of minutes each day. Don't be like me and start at the top and then have to quit. Boy that is painful. As for MacDonalds, I just don't care for any of that kind of food, be it MacDonalds, Burger King etc. I do like Taco Time however. I love Burritos - think I could eat then for all meals. I only have one ever couple of months, however. Everyone has their weakness, and your is Macdonalds Fish Burger. That's ok, once in a while I think. Ally, you can't seem to get that ex away from you. I wish Tootie was hear to enlighten you, she would know exactly what to do. I wonder how she is doing. I kind of miss her.
Meme - I suppose you are driving all over the country in that new van. Good for you. Are they cancelling your goldshots - did you say that, or am I dreaming? What will you do?
Cravings (carb) - I read an article that said to increase your magnesium if you are craving carbs. That really won't hurt us anyway, as it is good for the muscles.
Everyone have a great day.
Ally0306

Yes, Happy....I do miss Tootie. She knew how to put my Beloved in his place, didn't she???
Welcome KY...I assume that you are a Kentucky Red Head. I am a NY brown head. And we got that ice storm too Candice. No school today.
Mima.......Your Alison sounds like a sweetheart. Tell her parents I'll trade for two twin boys. Just for a day or two. My kids don;t even care about spelling.
Joanne....Oh yeah, I know about the fat in Fish Sand. I had to find the least fattening meal in fast foods with my son when he was in 7th grade. Here I was thinking that a fish sand was better than other choices. Duh. But I love them. I haven't had one in quite a while. We have Taco Bell which is probably the same as Happy's mexican fast food place, but I suspect that the burger isn't even really burger. It doesn't even have the same consistency. But their Chicken Quesadillas......Marvelous.
Today we had to ride in 4 wheel drive vehicles to even get out of work for lunch. I was "forced" to eat at the local burger place. I ate every fry and a big burger. I tell you, that tasted so great. And I only had some broccoli soup for dinner. It tells me that I am not eating enough at lunch time (usually a salad and some cut up chicken) cause usually I am starved when I get home.

Happy..2.6 lbs is good. It sounds like you did real good with your eating and points.Don't try to lose too much more than 2 lbs a week. Slow is better. And you don't want to lose muscle. Varity will be the key. Keep up the good work.Yes, It was 86 degrees here today!!!Very unusual.
Kyredhead.. Welcome..I gather you are red headed. Take one thing at a time..You have made a start by joining WW. Find yourself a good Doctor and follow his guidence. If you don't like and trust the one you are with he will not be able to help you.
Candice that cheese soup sounds really good. I will try it. I will have to watch the colesterol though.
Mima.. Relax.. You know that stress will go straight to the back.. Can you believe this warm spell we are having.
Hey Ally.. Slow down on the treadmil. You work up to what you want to do.My brother hurt himself on his and I don't think he has gotten back on it. He offered it to me. But he lives in AZ.

No...not driving all over the country...don't like to drive that much! I do quite a bit of driving but just because I have to!!! I don't know about the gold shots for sure. The Dr. isn't canceling them...he said he wouldn't discontinue them even if they stopped working as well because I might get a lot worse and then you couldn't just start them up again! But the last bottle the Dr. in Cookeville ordered for me the Pharmaceutical Co. told them that they stopped making it and that was the last bottle they had. I went to the Pharmacy that I get the rest of my meds. from and asked if they knew anything about it...the Pharmacist called his distributor and they told him they hadn't heard anything about it and that they had 6 bottles at that time...so I don't know what is going on with that!
You all remember me telling you about all the trouble Ross was having at Preschool at our church and how they kicked him out (at 5 yrs. old!)? Well he has been having a little trouble paying attention in Kindergarten, too. His teacher said at the first of the year that he was a young 5 yr. old...just turned 5 in August...and asked if they would consider letting him wait and start next year. But his parents both said he is so smart that they hated to do that because they were afraid he would be so bored next year. He already knows how to read some now and if they waited until next year...learning colors and numbers and such would be much too easy for him. So on he went to Kindergarten. Well...he started getting up and wandering around when he should have been listening. He would interrupt the teacher during class time right in the middle of a lesson. Then the other day they had a real episode. My daughter fell going out of the house that morning and hurt her leg and then when they got to school he got out and they took him right in and he didn't get to give his dad a hug...he was so upset that he started crying and wouldn't stop. My daughter had to leave work and go back to the school and assure him her leg was alright (he told the principle that his mom broke her leg!). We have all been really concerned about him. Well...they took him to be evaluated (to Knoxville to a specialist) and the woman who tested him said he has Attention Deficit Disorder. He isn't really bad, just bad enough to diagnose. Here are a few of his symptoms:Getting easily distracted by outside stimuli, like people talking or things going on outside the window
Forgetting to do things -- very frequently, which means things don't get done
Physical restlessness for some people, fidgeting, can't sit still, etc.
For many children, a lot of difficulty remaining seated, waiting in line, etc.
For children, having difficulty playing quietly or co-operating within a group
Reacting impulsively, without thinking first -- with ADHD it is often a matter of "act before you think," instead of "think before you act"!!
The sad thing is...the director of the preschool that he was kicked out of has a son who is ADHD and is now an adult. She had lived and dealt with this behavior for over 20 years and didn't recognize it in another child...she could have saved us some of this if she had just CARED enough to bother!!!!!!!
We don't know yet if they are going to put him on meds. or not. He isn't severe...just enough to drive you nuts sometimes!!! But he is the sweetest child ever born. He constantly hugs and tells you that he loves you!!! He tells me at least once a day that I'm his best friend forever! Oh...he's no saint...he acts out occasionally but what 5 yr. old doesn't? His real problem is he just can't seem to pay attention to you for very long. You have to hold his little face and say, Ross...look at me...did you understand what I said? I hope this is something he will outgrow...it really has me worried!
We've had 2 deaths in the family in the last 2 days. My sister-in-law's dad and hubby's uncle. He was with his Uncle when he died this morning about 5 a.m. He had gone to sit up with him so the family could get some rest. He had bone cancer and went fast. He was a preacher and he married us almost 37 years ago. When hubby moved to Michigan he lived with them until we got married. I'm not really crazy about either family...sister-in-law or hubby's cousins...they are all a bunch of snobs!!! But...guess I'll have to put up with them...have to go to 2 funeral homes tomorrow night and to 2 funerals on Saturday! I know the fibro will be acting up big time this weekend!!!!!!!
Welcome to KY...sorry I went on so...guess I needed to "talk". We all try to be here for each other...anytime you all want to skip my "ramblings" feel free...I'll never know! Anyway...welcome to our group...we're usually a happy bunch...(no pun intended Anne!!!) As for how I cope with fibro and dieting...I actually feel better when I lay off the junk foods and sugar. I get these really strong cravings though when the fibro is at it's worst! That makes it harder to diet when that happens.

Meme is writing books again! :p They thought a one time my son my have adhd but it turned out to be an auditory processing problem (learning disability that involes the way the hearing and brain connect)! We all no I have the problem of my brain not connecting to any of my body parts!LOL
Just got our power back on from the storm and it is flickering again! When you live in the country it is not fun to have no water, heat or lights! (I did have some drinking water so I was still peeing up a storm even though I couldn't flush!) :o
Had cereal and milk, then tuna and lettuce, and Tomato soup(heated on a camping burner) and some more cereal and an apple to snack on. Now I need a hot cup of tea! (and maybe something else cause I'm hungry!)
Welcome KY...............

Just talked to Brad-train leaves at 11 and wather is good!!!!!Bad weather stayed up north. My son was tested for ADD or ADHD and they said he had an oppositional disorder but he also has an auditory processing problem. I think his father had the same thing. Anyways, despite all my efforts, he didn't straighten out til he was in his 20's after suffering a lot of consequences for his behavior. And now he is the BEST . Anyhow-back to Ross-sometimes they put them on behavior modification-setting rules and limits and rewards and sometimes meds. He certainly sounds like a typical case from my teaching experience. Just don't like to see them zonked so maybe they'll try the beh. mod. first. Good luck. Hi Ky-can you see a rheumotologist-I find them the moast knowledgeable. Yes, I had to stop the needlework-I always overdo things, It's going to cool to the 70's next week. Boohoo. Hi all!!Mima

Ahhh Meme...I was waiting for you to say he was tested for ADHD. That is what my twins are. And so many kids these days are too. You will hear people say that kids are overdiagnosed and over medicated. I do believe kids are more hyper these days. Lots more additives in food, tons more sugar, and our lives are just so much more chaotic. Lots of stuff to read out there, but I do remember that one thing about hyper kids is that they fear that they are so BAD all the time that they have to be reassured all the time that they are loved. So they develop strong loving personalities. They have to....cause they ARE in trouble all the time. My son drove his car to school today after specifically being told not to. More trouble. NOt a big deal, but it is an infraction of the rules. I get sick of asking for second chances...people expect that kids should be mature at age 16. I have a meeting with the special ed people next week. I don't know if they have a Committee on Special ed in your state, but it can be a Godsend. If your child is LABELED, they can't constantly punish them for being hyper. They get an Individualized Education Plan and their behavior is taken into consideration. I would encourage you to check it out.
It is good that Ross has a wonderful person in his life like you. I miss my Mom so much cause she was also so supportive of my kids and so loving.

Thanks for all the input...it helps a lot!!!
Yet another death! A young woman...in her twenties...died early this morning! An Overdose. When she was a teenager she was in my SS class, Wednesday night teen class and in the all girls choir I directed! I'm really upset about this one...makes me wonder if I should have followed up on her after she grew up! I knew she came from a troubled home...a couple of years ago her mother died (mysteriously) and we all wondered if she killed herself! Also, I knew her sister was on drugs. I saw her at church a couple of months ago and begged her to come back but never did call her!!! Makes me feel I should have done more! :?:

No more sleeps I hope. to wait I mean-computers arevawesome-I can check the status of the train right from my computer. Brad forgot his cell phone so he can't call me except from a pay phone. Luckily I gave him 2 phone cards in his Christmas stocking with my numbers on it. Men!!!!!!!Auditory processing!!When my son was in the 8th grade , he had an idiot math teacher who was about to fail him from the high level math class-Bobby-excellent in math-could not process it fast and idiot would not move him to the next level, I went to the principal who did. i was always his advocate except when it came to him doing bad stuff. And I never gave up on him. When he quit high school in his senior year, I encouraged him to get his GED which he passed without any classes. He now has a degree in HVACR engineering technology fro Ferris State-one of the happiest moments in my life. One thing that he did was sabotage his success-when things were going good, he could find a way to mess it up. Luckily, he has gotten over this, He's 26 and bought a 2 family and has a great job. Now if he would only pay back the 6,000 he owes me. He will!!!Wow-did I go on about him!!!!Love that cookie recipe-I will try it-I love coconut. I wonder what the sugar content is. No mail yet!!!Bye for now. Mima

Meme- I hope that everything will be tried before meds are used for your G/child. I am very against giving these so called 'hyper' children meds to slow them down. I took my daughter to a so called popular Dr. when she was small and hyper. He put her on Ritalin. It only took me about a week to decide that I did not intend to put her in a stupor in order to control the issue. She grew up to be a well adjusted adult. She teaches 2nd grade and has twice been named teacher of the year in her county. Please get a second opinion. I think some Doctors are too quick to solve a problem.I have met some teachers that just loved the idea of Ritalin. They had no distractions when the hyper children used them. The Doctors don't tell you about the long term side effects.
Sorry to hear about your friend that died. It was not your fault. I guess when these things happen we all wonder what we could have done to change things.Very often it is nothing we could have done.
Hey Candice..We are looking for a little of that winter you are having. It will help to control the bug problems. I live in a older Florida home and it is a constant battle to keep them out of the house.
Mima.. I guess you are on 'cloud nine' Hope your back is better..Get a good back rub.
Ally.. You think 16 is fun wait till they are in their 20s and 30s. My son grew up at 40. He was here for supper the other night and said something that I have been trying to tell him for years. You would have thought it was his idea! That's o.k. At least he got the point, at last.He doesn't mind me sticking my nose in his business. At least he doesn't complain.
Hey Happy...

I assume the overdose is Heroin. We have had a few kids in the area die of overdoses and one came from a prominent family. One of my friend's daughter is in rehab because of heroin.
I think that is what is scary about having hyper kids....they are so easily influenced.
If you end up trying medication with Ross, I did read a study that kids who took medication for ADHD had a much lesser chance of getting involved with drugs as teens.
But don't feel personally responsible. I am glad the sister went to church...that might help. Most of the treatment programs are Christian based.
I just ate half a bag of Ghardetto snacks (those pretzel and little crackers). I love my treadmill, but I swear it is making me hungrier....
Anyone watching the Superbowl tomorrow. Go Patriots.

I don't like ball games! Too boring...give me a thriller anyday! :dizzy:
That funeral this afternoon went from 3 to after 5!!! Plus the fact that we had to get to the church 2 hrs. early for visitation because my mother-in-law wanted to see her brothers, etc. Then we had to go to the cemetery and wait another hour...I am so tired. After that we had to bring hubby's mom and dad home, eat a bite and go pick up Garrett and Kaylyn from the babysitters...then go to Wal Mart and get groceries...come home & put them away, feed the kids and put them to bed. All my muscles are screaming at me! I'm going to go take a shower and two Tylenol PMs and die for about 8 hrs. because tomorrow is another busy day! Church tomorrow...and I have to do the music, then I have to sing at another church tomorrow night, plus...tomorrow is my daughter-in-law's BD and everyone is coming here for pizza and cake after church tomorrow night. I will probably wind up staying in the bed most of Monday! (If I don't fall over before that!)

Everything worked out fine-the Amtrak bus came 30 minutes early but the cell phone call sent us packing to pick Brad up. It;s so great that he's here. I think he fell back asleep but we are going to go for a walk in a bit. Big SuperBowl party at my son's tonight. There goes the diet again. But Brad and I eat healthy. Go Patriot;'s- all the people at the party will be from MA so it will be fun even though they are the underdogs. Gotta go make the diet chocolate pie for tonight. Mima

Meme- Boy are you a busy girl!! I get tired just reading about all the things you do and keep up with. You must not be too stressed, you don't have time to get that way.:dizzy: I lead a really busy life too. I look forward to when the dishes are done in the evening so I can get my shower and sit down with my book.
Mima.. What is a diet chocolate pie? It would be a 'close my eyes and pretend I didn't eat it' pie for me. I could not resist it.
I am like a lot of people .I don't get too excited about ball games. I like to watch some of the winter sports. I am amazed at some of the skiers and what they are able to do. Ofcourse being from Florida and never being around snow it would be interesting to me.
Hello Happy, Candice.
Ally ,You ate the whole bag? I like those too. I have to avoid cheezetts . My hubby told me to get some if I could control it. I said I couldn't . So I didn't buy them.. this time...
Bye...Joanne:wave:
