GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:
No matter what happens, you can control the way you think about it, the way you act in response, and the way you feel. Your thoughts, actions and feelings aren't forced upon you -- they're whatever you decide to make them.
Look down, droop your shoulders over and frown. Notice how lousy you feel? Now, sit up straight, look upward, take a deep, refreshing breath and smile. See how great you feel? What a difference! Your external circumstances did not change, but you did.
The way you think, the way you act, and the way you feel can make a tremendous difference in the quality of your life. And those things are all under your control.
In each moment, you have the opportunity to decide how life will be for you. So how do you want it to be? Take control of your thoughts and make them positive. Take control of your actions and make them effective. Take control of your feelings and make them empowering. Take control, and enjoy the grand experience being the best you can be.

TOP OF THE MORNING TO YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!!!!
I haven't got much time, but wanted to pop in quickly to remind everyone that we have just over a month before we can register for the WDW MARATHON and HALF MARATHON! :D
They fired the other girl on our team last week and so we've been doubly busy and this week is month end reports so we're going to be even busier. I'm not complaining though - she didn't do squat and should have been fired a long time ago. I'll gladly work 20 hours a day to have the peace and quiet and nicer atmosphere that we have without her coming to work every day.
I'm walking and eating OP so I hope that WIW shows the results of my work. Got 3.5 miles done in 1 hour 2 minutes last night - that's about 4 minutes faster than last time I did that distance. I would have gone further, but we went to see Blackhawk Down and didn't get home until late.
I'll check back in later with personal replies, but wanted to check in and tell DEBBIE that we had some lamb-burger type thingy from the Taste of Lebanon book last night. (Meister fixed it while I was out walking). It was yummy!!
Gotta run! have a great day everyone!!!

Gonna be a glorious day here! About 48 F. Washed the car yesterday, it was like a spring day!
Great MM post Deb! That's how I've got to be! I don't care if I get a cold, I'm gonna keep at my exercising! No more excuses!
I finally finshed the BFL book yesterday. He says if you're looking to lose fat, that your workouts should be done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I'm up making DH lunch at 5:45 and he's out the door by 6:05. DS has been getting up around 7:30. So I have the perfect window of opportunity to get in my workout! Well, TODAY I DID IT!!!!
I decided to start the challenge over again! But this time, no matter what, I'm gonna keep going! Just like the book says. I've just finished my first mini-meal and have the whole day to do what I want and I don't have to worry about fitting in my workout! I think someone should have dropped a weight on my head a long time ago so I could have come to this realization earlier:lol:
I've also got motivation cause DH is starting the plan today too. Don't want him to get buff without me! Also makes it easier to plan meals if we're eating the same.
SOL--WTG on your walking! You'll do great at the WDW marathon. Sorry you have to be working so hard, but like you said, at least it's more enjoyable.
EVERYONE have a great day! I have to go thru the house and get rid of a lot of stuff. I've given myself til the end of the month. Ha! That's only 3 days away! So I'll get back when I can.

Hi ladies...
I introduced myself to you all about 4-5 months ago, but fell out of the loop pretty quickly because I actually just got too overwhelmed with the SB plan. I've continued looking into it, and I "think" I'm ready to make a go of it again. ;)
I do have just one basic question though. I have devoured the book, and actually have maybe tried to analyze it too much... but my question is this: (and I know I'm asking for a BIG generalization here...) Is it "legal" to eat foods that just have 2 or less grams of sugar. For instance...I got this GREAT SGWW bread, 100%... but it does have 2 gms of sugar... Is this "legal"?
I think what frustrated me before was analyzing labels soo much. For instance, cream of chicken soup... less than 2 gms of sugar .. but has trace amounts of wheat flour in it. Okay...or not?? Some people say yes... some say no. :?: I think maybe if I start out saying I can't eat anything with more than 2 grams of sugar (except of course, flour, pasta, rice, potatoes, corn, etc), maybe it will all kick in eventually. It's gotta help to some extent..I have over 100 lbs to lose.
My family is just going nuts with me trying to pick a plan. I made some manicotti last night... maybe for dinner I'll just eat the insides which are chicken, spinach, ricotta, egg and mozarella. That's all okay isn't it? :)
I guess I just need a little hand holding from a pro. :)
I'm usually on yahoo messenger during the day at work...please feel free to say hi! My screen name is holmesx2.
Thanks ladies! I admire your dedication to this WOE..and hope to join the ranks!!!

Good Mornin' Again Everyone:wave:
Just got in from my jog/walk and am happy to report that I have a NEW SECOND BEST TIME OF 44:29!:spin: That's only 9 seconds above my best time and let me tell you, it's hotter than the dickens out there-I could only imagine what my time could of been if it were cool, like it's suppose to be!
Also, happy to report, I didn't have a single piece of cheesecake yesterday! Didn't even desire it-guess the shock of the calories I found over the weekend did me some good:s:
Well, today is Lauren's audition to get into the magnet program. It's at 4pm and will take about 2 hours. PLEASE SEND GOOD THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS HER WAY TODAY All I told her was to do her best and if that doesn't get her in, that's just fine, I know she tried her best and it would be the schools loss not to have her in the program. CROSS THOSE FINGERS PLEASE!!!!
I went to p/u the pictures from Orlando Saturday-one roll was ready, the other one they have to re-do. They put them on a CD instead of on line, so I'm hoping they will be back on Wed/Thursday-but I am going to get some of the pics posted below-so be patient while they load.
I made a FOOD FOR THOUGHT JOURNAL BOARD for this week. What's everyone's thoughts about doing this each week and those who want to participate in it do, those who don't don't have to-or should we just keep it this one week and not do it anymore, or once in a while-any thoughts????
SEF, we have WINN DIXIE down here-but I've never seen SB PISTOLETTES there-actually, I still don't quite know what to look for if I go there. Hmmm, I haven't seen the NO SF ROLLS either, and we have the outlet down here-guess they make them for different regions. Would be nice to have for a Boca Burger once in a while. Congrats on being able to stay OP so well of late-are you going to weigh in when you go the the Neurologist? To change your avatar go to EDIT PROFILE, I believe-if not EDIT OPTIONS:)
BUSDEB, sorry, I did miss that post about Dixie. Glad you knew enough to make the right decision, seems you got the right horse now-she's a beaut!
SOL, I bet by the time the entry day for the marathon rolls around, you'll be seeing even faster times! You're doing great. I bet you'll be jogging some, if not all, of the marathon they way you are going-a year is a long time to train! I'm crossing my fingers for you for WIW girl! You probably made the GRILLED KAFTA??
ZANNE, glad you like today's MM-he always has such great thoughts! I find doing my exercise in the morning not only gets it out of the way, but it makes me feel good and also, I find that I'm not as hungry as if I don't exercise, or try to do it later. Keep up the great work!!
CJANE, welcome back to the board. To answer your question, SB RULES are anything that contains 3 grams of sugar, or less PER SERVINGS is okay to have. Try not to over-analyze the book, there are quite a few discrepancies in that book anyhow, and it can drive you batty as ****. You've read the book, now, just ask questions-that's what's going to help you. You have to understand, the book is a guideline and doesn't have to be 100% exact. I followed it to a T, but others didn't, like our old pal BEACHFAN, she ate bananas the entire time and still made goal after losing over 80lbs. Those same bananas could effect me where I won't lose, but for her, it didn't effect her weight loss at all. SB can be a very forgiving WOE. For the soup, from what you posted, I'd say it was fine-if you want, list all the ingredients, and I'll be happy to throw you my 2 cents worth of opinions. The manicotti innerds are fine, but you could try to find a WW manicotti shell, or make WW lasagna, which is delicious and my entire family loves! We're all happy to help-don't be afraid to ask for it!!!
Okay everyone, gotta run get something to eat and get in the shower, have some errands to do before I have to get Lauren later.
REMINDER: TOMORROW IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST-hope you can all make it!!!
Have a great week!

Gosh, I'd thought I'd take a quick peek at the board and there were 16 (!) replies! But then I discovered they were the long awaited pics from the Orlando meeting. Thanks Deb, it was fun seeing everyone together!
This morning this phone is ringing off the hook (both lines) with last minute changes to the banquet list. sheesh. I think it will be Ok, really all the real work is done now, just calming the panic stricken people around me.
The food tonight may not be an issue at all. While I did order SB legal selections on the buffet, if this is like the last one, I won't even get to sit down to eat at all. So I'm going to try to have something ready to heat up in the fridge when I get home. Or maybe I can get the conference center to let me take a plate home (after all I just got them a $9,000 event). I'm also going to try to have a high protein snack about 4:00 to keep me from getting ravenous.
Of course one phone call and all these carefull laid plans could go out the window! I think I'm going to need all of my SB angels on my shoulder today!
I'll let you know sometime tomorrow how everything goes!

This morning began with a wonderful little note from Nance. It's so good to hear from you, now will both be back on the boards.
If you haven't read my post from last week, but I'm coming back on board today after being gone a month or more. This morning's weigh in of 166 (ouch!) wasn't too shocking. I knew that the rapid weight loss I had this month was a result of being on a liquid diet for 20 days (I was down to 156 at one point), of course I went hog wild as soon as they said chew and thus gained 6lbs in 4 days. YIKES! Any who, I'm starting back on SB today. I have to get good, strong and healthy as my double implant surgery should be in April. Today's motivation is one that I hope we all can remember as we struggle to obtain the goals we so badly desire. May we all have patience with ourselves and keep focused on our long term goal, and we fall off the wagon, that we may try again, with more strength and diligence than before.
Today's thought is:
Patience is needed with everyone, but first of all with
ourselves.
One night Sandra was having trouble putting a puzzle
together. Angrily, she pushed all the pieces into a
huge pile.
"I can't do this," she said. She got up and walked over to
the couch and plopped down.
"Let me tell you a story," said her dad, as he sat down next
to her. "There was a daughter who helped her dad take
care of her baby sister. Again and again, she helped her
baby sister stand and try to walk. One day the daughter
tried to put a puzzle together but gave up after only a few
tries. She had forgotten how many times she had helped
her baby sister."
We are all like Sandra, sometimes. We forget to allow
ourselves to fail, even though our growth up to now has
been a series of failures that we learned from. With
patience, we allow ourselves to take chances we might not
otherwise explore, and we widen our world of possibilities.
Life has been patient with us so far, now it's our turn.
Have a wonderful Monday!

Hey to you all,
I was like Fillise ....couldn't believe so many posts this early on a Monday morning but was very glad to see the pics that Deb Posted. You all looked like you had a wonderful time and I am so glad to see the pics. I want to be at the October get together. Now I just have to talk one the other Alabama gals into driving up with me.....anyone interested?
I posted a picture of my DD Sara riding our new horse April on the board last night but I am thinking a lot of folks may not see it since it was late last night. So I am going to post it on this one. Please forgive me if it is a rerun for some of you. Now this is the girl who said she would never get on a horse 2 weeks ago...so I am very proud of her. She will be riding like a pro in a few weeks and I may never get to ride my horse again. LOL
I went to Breakfast with my bus buddies this morning. They are not on SB but are always an encouragement to me because they constantly tell me that I am doing great and that they can really tell that I am losing. Makes me feel wonderful inside. :)
Deb.....don't worry about not catching that post. We are very happy with our decision and love that we had the option to do what we did. Thanks so much for posting the pics. They turned out great.....have you tryed out Eli's digital camera yet? I love mine ...I take pics all the time and as I said one time before you all may get sick of seeing me and my family but I love sharing with you all. So please be kind. LOL
Fillise .....good luck with the banquet....you have worked so hard at that thing I know things will go great and you will be beaming from all your hard work. See me sitting on your left shoulder....that is the one where the bad girls sit ....right????
Liz.....so good to see you hon....I think of you often and hope you are doing well. I didn't know you were in Pensacola....I am only about 5 hrs from there .....maybe we can meet sometime before too long. Lets talk about that ok.
Well need to run....you all remember JUST SO NO TO SUGAR!!!!

Hi everybody. I tried to post this weekend and my crazy computer never would let me.:mad:So I'll try to remember what I wanted to say. Dennis' bday was Sat. and I was good. I had a bite of cake - toooo sweet. I thought ahead and got some SF ice cream for me.:)And no, I won't share. :s: We went to El Chico for dinner and I had the fajita chicken salad. WONDERFUL! No chips for me. Again... I got a gift from Dennis as well. He's on the lookout for a tiller, so he took Sarah and Jame with him Sat and they were gone about 4 hours. So it was just me and Maggie. Ahhhh, a calm house.:) Another bit of good news for me this weekend...I weighed yesterday morning and after many many weeks of stalling, I finally am down about 1 1/2 pounds. It's got me really fired up now. I've already changed shoes so that I can walk after my next two classes are done.
Sorry I can't reply to everyone. I'll try to do better this week and maybe my puter will cooperate.
UPDATE: I walked!!!:smug:Just thought I'd share.

Wow, loved those pictures! All that food is making me hungry.
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun in Florida!
Its monday and it is already a very long day! I know it is motivational monday, but I do not feel very motivated at all. I have been working out at least 3xs a week, eating non fat and lowfat, no sugar and no simple carbs, I just do not feel that I am getting anywhere with this. I do not feel any weight lose since the 1st 7 1/2lbs week before last. I am being really god, not eating after a certain hour at night, I am not eating seconds and I am not eating junk legal food!
Anyway, I am still trucking along, trying my best.
Sorry for the grouchies so early in the morning.

Hey All:wave:
Thought I'd get in a post before going for Lauren and her BIG AUDITION!:D
LIZ, we are getting together to welcome ROSALIE to the Sunshine State the weekend of March 8th. For some reason, I thought you were in the Tampa area-where did I get that stupid thought! Would love for you to be able to join us, but if it's not possible, with you being so close to BAMA, I'd love for the BAMA gals to have a get together one day soon and that would be close enough for you to join them there!!
FILLISE, sorry to scaring you this morning with all the posts-but glad you liked seeing the gals! Enjoy your evening-can't wait to hear about the wonderful success it was!:D
LDBLOND, glad to see you back on the wagon and back with us here on the board. How did the surgery go, and how are you feeling? I pray no complications! Don't worry about the weight you gained, you'll lose it the healthy way soon. Glad you heard from NANCE, now the two of you need to get together for lunch! Loved your MM message-thanks for sharing!:D
BUSDEB, as the group from AL gets bigger and bigger, I'm SURE you will find others who are interested in carpooling to NC come Oct.-If the fun we 6 had together in Orlando is any indication of what could be with even more of us getting together, we are insured to have a FABULOUSLY WONDERFUL TIME that shouldn't be missed! SARA looks lik a pro already!! Thanks for sharing the pic of her, and APRIL!
I'm guilty, still haven't taken the camera out of the box-I have to get my act together-and soon!
MUSIC, CONGRATS on being down another 1 1/2 pounds-your patience has paid off!:D That walking sure seems to be helping-keep up the great work!
PRAVDA, hope you got my reply to your PM. I'll be happy to help you figure all this out, but once again, it's very evident that you need to EAT MORE!!!!!!;)
Well, time for a potty call (already had 1.5 liters of water today) before I start to head out to get Lauren. I'll give you a full report later this evening when we get back. Cross those fingers (toes, eyes, hairs, anything!).
"Talk" to yo all later!

Just jumping in while I have a minute.
DEB Thanks for sharing the pics! They're wonderful! Now I can print out more angels to carry with me. The food spread looks great too. Way to go with the walk. Sounds like everywhere has unseasonal weather. If the Food for thought Board is there, I will try to contribute.
I've got everything crossed for Lauren! Hope she does well.
SOLSHINE The name fits! You have such a lovely smile, it just makes you "shine". I love your couch! The colors and style are exactly what I want to put in our new family room!
CJANE Welcome back! We all have our ups and downs. I can't really add anything to Deb's advice. Like she said, don't make yourself crazy. The book can be vague and some things work for some people and not for others. You'll figure out what works for you.
LIZERY Always glad to see your posts. Hope you're doing well.
FILLISE Hope you'll be able to rest some after tonights big dinner! Good idea to eat something before hand. If you want, I'll come along with you and try to keep you out of trouble ;)
LDBLOND Your MM quote is right on. I know I let go of the exercising, blaming my cold. I'm starting again today and instead of staying down if I fall, I'm gonna just get right back up and keep trying. I hope your mouth is better. You'll lose in no time.
BUSDEB That's great that your buddies are so supportive of you. The pic of you DD on your horse is wonderful. I love seeing all these pics!
MUSICTEACH Congrats on the 1.5 down! I don't think any of us will go looking for it  Keep up that walking!
PRAVDA It's ok to be grouchy. We're here to give a shoulder to lean on too. You might have to tweak something to get this WOE to work well for you. Keep trying and your persistance will pay off.
Ok, gotta run! Take care everyone!

Hi all. Been away for over a week. Not away--out of town, but just so busy with life that I had no time to post at all.
Rosalie--Debelli--What town is Rosalie coming in to? The Tampa area? Is this a vacation or business? You can see how far behind I am in reading the board. I didn't even know she was coming.
My motivational thought for the day--WILLPOWER
This is a word that describes a power we have over our will. When we say we have no willpower, we are actually describing something about our own power over our choices. We truly have the will to either do one thing or another. Perhaps we would make more progress if we were more honest with ourselves and said that "I have control over my own will--it is not a separate entity from me. And right now, ist is my will to eat (fill in the blank.) I know that this will not do me any good in the long run, but this is my choice right now."
When we take ownership of our choices, then we are taking a step toward a healthy lifestyle.
Gotta go. On Monday's I work at the pregnancy center in the morning until 1 or 1:30, and then work our at 3 pm. Then leave again at 4:30 to pick up our daughter for dinner and a class together.
Wednesday is French class (I have a test this week!!) and between all that I am reminded of Fillise's schedule, with a big banquet coming up for which our little group is responsible. Actually, it is a 4 day meeting, with home dinners each of 5 nights. We will furnish the food and transport the speaker each night. We expect about 35 at each home. I'll be glad when that responsibility is OVER!!!
Take care all.
Rosalie

Hi Everyone
Had a bad eating day yesterday. I made some granola bars that my ds had requested so of course I had to try them out - they were not exactly legal as I had used an oatmeal cookie mix. I have another recipe which I got from the Quaker Oat website for oatmeal cookies. I'll try that next and see if I can make it legal. I also bought some new bread yesterday 3 Grain with flax so I had to try that out too. Ended up eating more than I should have and felt rather yucky last night. To-day I am trying to be good. I just wish I could keep my hands out of the homemade granola. I just made another batch.
Hamsm - I saw the movie GOSPORT PARK last week and really enjoyed it. The best movie I have seen in a long time.
Zanne - Did you try to order the agave yet? I phoned the Vancouver number this afternoon and was told the person that looks after the orders for shipping will not be in until tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Lamap - It's good to hear that things are going well for you and you are getting out and about. I'm happy for you.
Deb - I had to laugh at you having to make another cheesecake for the family the other day. I know what it is like to have a little bit, then a little bit more etc. etc. That's why I am so reluctant to do much baking. I know where most of it will end up. It was great to see all the pics from the Orlando get together. Looks like you all had a good time. I think it is a good idea to keep the FOOD for THOUGHT board going. I'd be prepared to contribute a couple of times a week. It keeps me in check when I write down what I am eating, particularly as I am not using Fitday anymore. If a lot of people are using it a weekly board would be fine, otherwise how about leaving it there for the month? Just my two cents worth.
LdBlond - Welcome back into the fold. Hope the surgery was successful and that you are feeling better. It's no surprise that you gained a few pounds once you started eating normally again after being on a fluid diet for so long. But I am sure you will be losing them again soon - at least now you will be eating healthily.
Fillise - Hope all goes well with the banquet tonight. You deserve for it to be a success with all the hard work you have put into it.
Gator - I am coming to Orlando with my dd, ds and grandkids to visit Disney World. We should arrive on the evening of Friday, 8th March and I am hoping to meet some of the SB girls on the Saturday, 9th March. Will you be around that day? Would love to meet you.
I was wondering if any of you Florida gals could give me any info on the purchasing of tickets for Disney World. The only ones I can buy here are either 5 or seven day passes. Their website does offer a 4 day/4 park ticket which I may end up getting but even a three day pass would be sufficient as we will only be there for seven nights, or 6 whole days, and there are other things we would like to see as well as Disney. I'd appreciate any hints or tips you can give me.
I thought I would have more time to catch up on all the posts but it is kind of hard after not posting for 4 days. The board has been so busy lately. I have to stop and finish geting dinner ready as I am off out to badminton again this evening. Already played a few games this afternoon.
Greetings to everyone that I haven't responded to.
Bye for now.
Marie.

Evening Everyone!
Great Pictures! Everyone looks like they were having a really good time and the food looks wonderful.
I was absent yesterday from the board. My grandson spent the night with me and so I spent the time talking to him. I was soooo dissapointed yesterday morning. I got on the scale after have gotten down to 277.5 (9.5 pound loss) to weigh 282. I cried. Then I analyzed what I was eating and decided that I am eating way to much starcy carbs and not enough veggies and fruit. So, yesterday I ate:
Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs
Snack: apple
Lunch: Salad w/1/4 cottage cheese and 3 oz of roast beef
Snack: apple
Dinner: 1 bowl of goulash (ww pasta, tomatoes, onions, garlic and ground round)
Today:
Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, salsa, 1 oz cheddar cheese in 1 ww tortilla
Lunch: 1/4 cup LF cottage cheese, 3 oz roast beef
Dinner: 1 bowl of goulash leftover from yesterday
Snack: raw veggies
This morning I weighed and was back down 1 pound to 281. I am retaining a bit of water and excuse the subject matter but have not been running to the bat-room as much as I should.
Anyway, my goal was to be at 277 on January 31. I was 1/2 pound away. Now it looks like I might not get there:(
Well, glad that you are all here. It's so great to be able to post how you feel and what you're eating and have friends help you with it all.
Thanks
Sheann

Hey gals,
Been catching up w/reading and you all have been awfully busy!!
I didn’t do too much this weekend…. Took the boys to a monster truck show on Sat. My 4 yr old got to ride in the back of a monster truck on Sat – he was THRILLED!! Church and Wal-Mart were the only things I got out for yesterday.
My emotions have gotten the better of me the last few days. I’m waiting on word from the doctor last week and I HATE WAITING – my imagination goes every which way!! I’ve not had any willpower so I’m disgusted with myself. DH has been sick and whining (I love him but he is such a baby). Here is the kicker – My Mom has started “seeing” an old flame it seems….. Daddy has only been gone 8 months, so this is really throwing me for a loop. I never even dreamed that she would date again – I would be OK with it, of course, but it seems too soon for my liking. I’m being very supportive of her up front, but when I walk away I fall to pieces….. I know she isn’t doing anything wrong in my head – but as the famous line from Steel Magnolias goes – “I wish someone would tell it to my heart”!
NASCAR – I tell my DH that it isn’t polite to ask a lady her weight. That shuts him up pretty quick. I don’t like him asking about that either!
Fillise – Hope the banquet goes well!!
Sef – where did you find the Nature’s Own SF roll/bun???? I’ve known they make such a thing but have never been able to find them anywhere!!
Deb – sounds like you have a handle on the legal treats now – admitting the problem is half the battle – However, I’m not convinced you have a real problem cause you are too smart to let it get out of hand!! Hope your DD does well!!
Hello to all I missed.
Gotta run,

This must be a record for me--3 times in one day.
GATOR You ARE busy! your motivational thought is wonderful. Just remember to take some time for yourself.
ROSALIE I called today and ordered the agave. I called just after 2 our time. It turns out the girl I spoke to was the same person who had been emailing me. Hope you don't have any further problems!
SHEANN I have the same problem with getting in enough fruit and veggies. I found that when I was journaling my food, I did much better and then I could see what areas need work. I can forget what I had a couple of hours after I've eaten.;) Are you drinking your water?
TV (((((((HUGS))))))) I think I can understand how you feel and it must be a difficult struggle. I'm not always good with words, but I'm a good listener and the HUGS are free.
Time to hose down the munchkin. I'll try to catch up more later.

I am 100% exhausted. Didn't get enough sleep this weekend so this will be VERY short!
Have been going to the gym for workouts. Not able to run yet, knee is still bothering me, think I have tendonitis. Calling my chiropractor bud tomorrow!
DEB - Thanks for sharing the pics! DH is usually the photogenic one, where is his smile? Can't wait to see how lovely we look at the race. Should be pretty scary! Keeping a good thought for Lauren. When will she know if she was accepted? Glad she liked the card.
Have a really busy morning at work tomorrow so I am gonna go stretch out on the couch! Will sleep if it comes!
Welcome NEWBIES!
Peace,

Well it's been a continuation of an icky weekend. I think I know why I woke Saturday am with the passing out episode. I caught a virus!!! I was in bed and sick all weekend after I posted about that. Last night I was in bed shivering so badly with fever that the bed frame was rattling!!!
Needless to say I've not eaten much, because nothing stays down or in very long! I've survived on mostly apple juice cut with water and chicken broth and I'm doing a little better. Might actually try some chicken meat tonight and see how I do.
Not the way I want to lose weight for sure!! I'm glad I don't own a scale, because I"m sure I've dropped a pound or two from this and I don't want to disappoint myself when I put it back on once I get some FOOD in me again! (Although, I'm going to have to do something to not feel left out on WIW..LOL! )
TV- We went to the Monster Truck show on Friday night! Wasn't it a blast!
BusDeb- I have family in NC, and I've driven it before.. would be GLAD to carpool up there!! I have room for 7 besides me in my Suburban! LOL!
Well... I'm off to nap.. I had to work today despite being sick (3 others called in sick so I went anyway  ) And 4:30 comes early when you're dead on your feet.
Night ladies and I hope everyone had a better Monday than I did!

THE PICTURES ARE GREAT....always good to put a face with a name!! FROGGIE!!! HOW SKINNEY YOU ARE!!!! YOU LOOK BEAUTIUS!!!!
TV...I went thru the same thing when my Mom started dating after my Dad died...you can beat yourself up till the cows come home, but you're the only one who will understand why you feel like this...I tried time after time to explain why I thought this was wrong...FINALLY I just gave up..I'm here for you...just HONK the horn on the wagon when you pull up...I'll be right out!
DEB...IS THAT MY COFFEE IN THAT PICTURE?????
SOL...isn't that the BEST cookbook??? I'm looking for one to have for my very own!!!
I'm off to recline...Tonight is one of my favorite TV nights...I've bathed SKEETER....now I have to change the sheets and get settled in...Have a good evening everyone...Sorry I didn't get to all of you....

Hey All:wave:
Well, it's over. Parents were not allowed to go in and watch, so I went shopping until she got out, a little after 6 o'clock. She said she thinks she did really well and I can only go by that until March 15th, when we should hear either yay or nay-so fingers still have to be crossed please;)
Waiting for Eli to get home soon. Already ate dinner, so he doesn't have to cook for me, at least not in the kitchen;) Had some leftover salmon he made the other day-yummy! I'm pooped and look forward to going to bed a little early. Had a hard time falling asleep last night which is unusual for me, so I'm pooped, plus, I have a slight headache, which has been happening the last few days and I'm not sure why.
Did really great with the eating today-journaled everything and will be posting it on the FOOD FOR THOUGHT board. Thanks for your input on the board-anyone have any preferences to doing it as a weekly or a monthly board (thanks for that suggestion ROSALIE).
ZANNE, thanks for keeping Lauren in your good thoughts! You are so right when you talk about SOLSHINE having the perfect name-her smile does beam!!! She's such a sweetheart!
GATOR, as you can see, ROSALIE is coming to Orlando-and another get together is being planned for that weekend of the 8th in March. Don't have any final words, but I'll be coming up again! Thanks for your MM contribution!!:)
ROSALIE, I bet we could make some decent granola bars out of the Almond Granola recipe! Then you could have your granola bars and eat it too! I have seen some passes for 4 days for the 4 parks for $99, if I'm not mistaken-don't know if that's still going on or not. I could also check with AAA to see what they have available. When we went to Orlando to meet the SB gals, my kids went to Universal and my cousins said if we had bought tickets at AAA it would of saved a ton of money. Check out this site: http://www.aaasouth.com/acs_pages/14.asp#Charges I'll be happy to help any way I can:D I tried the 80% bar I had from Yves Thuries and think it's not too bad. Have you ever seen this brand in your area??
SHEANN, you CAN'T let the minor fluctuations bother you like they have. There are so many reasons you can go up other than overeating. Hormones play a big part, water retention, TOM, the blue moon! I use to let that bother me, but not any more. I see a trend and I know when I will probably go up and when I will go down. As long as you know you are following the plan as you should, don't worry, just be paitent and the weight will go back down. I do wonder though if you are eating enough-seems to be a problem with many as of late. From what you have posted, it sure doesn't look like you are and this may be the cause of this weight going up.
TV, sorry to hear you are having a tough time with a few things. I think with your Mom, it's hard to even imagine her being with someone else, but wouldn't you rather see her living and trying to go on with her life rather than be depressed, on anti-depressents, couped up in her home not wanting to go out in the world, etc. etc. as many people do after they've lost their spouse? I don't think it's ever going to be easy to see her with anyone, but you have to think about what's best for her and her mind, to keep going forward in life-just my 2 cents:)
FROG, the other pics should be back Wed/Thurs-they messed up and put them on CD instead of on line. I did get to see them though-some good ones in there! Any news on the beach house??
BETH, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well-but sorta glad to hear it probably wasn't your eating on SB. Hope you feel better soon. Try your best to get some soup into you-something that will stay down! NO CHEATING BY NOT EATING FOR WIW;)
BOB, don't worry, that wasn't Columbian Starbucks-you'll be getting your bags in March:) You are right, FROG is a skinnie!
Oops, gotta run-want to watch FEAR FACTOR!!!
Nite!

Hi, everybody! Sorry I’m getting on here so late, but I really felt lousy today. The TOM is arriving soon, plus my throat has been bothering me and a whole assortment of not so nice stuff. So I stayed home today and slept and just remained prone most of the day. Sure do hope it was better for all of you!!!
DEB---Your motivational thought was great. I do believe if we’d all have good posture, we would feel better. And I think there’s something medicinal (or therapeutic) about BREATHING. That’s the best thing about yoga is getting all that oxygen to all parts of your body. Thanks for sharing. Oh, I so hope today went well for Lauren. I hope by the time you read this, you all are celebrating her brilliant performance.
SOLBABY---Glad to hear you are okay. I missed posts from you and were ready to send out the guard dogs. Hang in there with your work. Hope it gets better soon.
ZANNE---WTG on the early (and I mean EARLY) morning workout. That’s great that you can find the time to get it in first thing. Then you have not time to procrastinate it. GOOD FOR YOU!!!
FILLISE---Hope it all went well for you tonight! You will get a good night’s sleep tonight, I’ll wager.
BUSDEB---Thanks for posting the picture of your DD. How cute! You must be so proud of your little one. That’s great that your bus buddy friends give you so much support. Good for them and even better for you!!!
BETH---Sorry to hear that you missed the whole weekend because you were sick. Sounds like a nasty virus. Take care of yourself and get better really soon.
Well, that’s it for me for tonight. Sorry I missed some of you. But just know that I wish for all of you a WONDERFUL day tomorrow.
Take care.

Good Evening all!
Just a quick hello before hitting the sack! I want you all to know, that I enjoy everyones posts, even though I don't reply to them all. I am still getting to know everyone. Had a fair day today but didn't eat enough and am starving right now- but I think I should just head for bed and fore go a snack. I would love to try and meet all of you in Orlando- any ideas on where you'll be meeting? Just as long as it's not Space Mountain!
Rosalie: I don't think Disney offers anything less than a 4 day park hopper pass. You can however buy individual days. I think it is around $50.00 a ticket. There are alot of ticket booths when you get in to the area that advertise free or cheap Disney tickets. Stay away from those booth's - they are a rip off. They buy back from people there unused days on the 4 and 5 day tickets and then resell them, however it is illegal and Disney can refuse your admittance and then you're really out! Are you a memeber of AAA or any timeshare exchange program? Sometimes they can get you discounted tickets? Are you coming with Children? There are 4 parks in Disney- Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center and MGM. It takes a day to see each one, so you may want the 4 day pass. Also, if you have little kids, there's a great farm not far from Disney where the kids can see and hold the animals, milk cows, etc. Hope this info helps. Let me know if you need any further info. I feel like Disney expert, we had passes that just expired. I would have renewed them but after 9/11 I decided I was going to stay out of crowds! :)
Sheann: Don't be disappointed by your little setback. Those extra pounds you lost were probably fluid. If I remember correctly you lost that 9.5 lbs very fast, and you do not lose fat that fast! So keep on plugging along, a slow loss is better than a fast loss!
Deb: will keep my fingers crossed for your daughter! I have not posted on the food board yet but I do enjoy reading the posts and see what everyone is eating. Also, I think the 4 day pass to Disney for $99.00 is only for Florida Residents (I think).
I have not figured out how to insert those little icons in my text after I have typed it. It won't let me go back up and I'm not coordinated enough to do it while typing the message.
Oh well, off to bed for me. Have a great day tomorrow everyone!!

Thanks everyone for your support!
I difinitely will not give up this way of eating. I feel so much better. I can actually sleep at night. For quite some time now I have had so much trouble sleeping at night. Thanks again for all of the encouragement.
Debbie: You mentioned that you didn't think that I was eating enough. Do you think I just need to add more veggies and fruit? I would love your advise.
I'm sorry to hear that so many of you are not feeling well. I hope that you feel better soon.
Will be back on tomorrow.

Hi Everyone, my what a busy board! Haven't really read much of it, just scanned through, but wanted to reply to a couple of things.
Debbie Loved the pics of the Orlando get together! Looks like everyone did have a great time. I'm glad I had a chance to read your post of the events before the board went down & the post was lost. Yes, your get together reminded me of my meeting with SolShine & GatorGal. It is a pecious memory for me, as I had such a great time. They are both lovely gals. We'll be going back to New Smyrna Beach June 1st for a week at the condo again this year & really am hoping to be able to have another visit.
Also noticed something that Kim mentioned last week, not sure if you had picked up on that, but in your opening post of the week, the link you posted for the photo board is actually a link to the Exercise Board :o . Also, I did take some new pictures yesterday. My sis took some with her digital camera for me & was suppose to send them to me last night, but I'm still waiting for them  Anyway, I will post an updated one as soon as she sends them to me.
LAMAP I read your post of last week & am excited for you that you are again dating after all this time. That is rough as well as exciting. I still remember how I was with my first date after being alone for so long. Was widowed for over 7 years. Had a couple of dates before dh came along, but it wasn't the same, as I did not have an real interest in either one of them. They were not what I was waiting for. DH was special from the start. Good luck to you.
TV I can relate to the emotions you are going through with your mother starting to see someone. See my post above to LAMAP. I also had my first date with an old flame about 8 months after my first DH died, but it was too soon as I quickly learned. After 1 or 2 dates, I told him I could not cope with it. It was another 2 years before I had my next date, but it wasn't until I had been alone over 7 years that Thurman came along. We saw each other at public get togethers for about a year before he asked me out. Within a couple of months, he had proposed & I accepted, but not without much praying & heartaches over wheather or not it was the right thing to do. My oldest daughter was the one that held back, refused to meet him or get to know him. Even at our wedding, although she was there, she was still upset that I would remarry. Not because she didn't want me to be happy, but that she was having a hard time dealing with the fact that someone else had taken my heart the use to belong to her Dad & she just could not let go of her own sorrow. She wrote me a letter right after the wedding & explained her feelings that she could not express with words otherwise. I still have that letter & it meant alot to me that she did that. She now LOVES my DH, probably is closer to him than my other 2 girls are. We all deal with things differently. Don't be too hard on yourself. Your love for your Dad & the lose you are still feeling is understandable, but at the same time, understand that your mother's still feeling that same lose also. Don't think that she's not. She's just trying to fill a need in her life for companionship. That is what I missed the most during my time of being alone. My prayers are with you.
Well time to go. Good night all!

Hi to all,
JUst wanted to drop you all a note before I felll into bed. THings on this board are reallyjumping. I couldn't believe that we had three pages, until I saw the great pictures from Orlando. Really makes me wish it wold have worked out so that I could join you, Hopefully I can make it for the March get together. What days are you all gonna get together??? Need to request off call.
I may going to promise that I will get much better at answering some of you individually, but I cna't tonight, just too pooped.
BUt I do want to take everyone for the well wishes for me and the new adventure in my life. We were out for the afternoon and dinner yesterday. We met at a park near me and sat and watched the sunset and then went for mexician food. Tried to eat as legal as possible, ate only the inards of the burrito. He knows what I am tring to do and is willing to try and cook for me. He grows peppers as a hobbies and makes salsa. (but he forgot mine and the minature roses he grows on the counter, so I didn't get them????) ANyway, I am not sure how I feel about him, I like his company but I don't see any fireworks going off. But it is sure nice being out with someone my own age, and being the center of attention. (Is that using him???)
Enough of that already. I went to a meeting tonight, which is being called a transformation class. It is with the counselor that I had been seeing and it is gonna be for people who want to make
changes in their lifes. And it happens that the other two girls also want to workon weight issues. After we got done we were standing around talking and I got to explain SB. ANyway next week I am bringing the book so they can look at it. The girls were encouraged when I told them how well I have been doing.
Well, I need to get to bed, but I want to wish you all a great day tomorrow. Thanks for being here.

HiedieHo All!!!
The pictures are great, you all looked like friends having a good time! I guess no one who comes to this Board remains a stranger!!
Went to NH today and then to gym. I talked to a therapist, who said that the exercises could cause my problem, especially if I wasn't breathing right. He suggested I cut back on weights and on numbers of reps until my symptoms are gone. In the meantime to use the recumbent bike and the URE (the arm mixmaster!) So today I did those two.
I don't know where the day went but it sure was in a hurry!!!
I am excited about tomorrow, my friend that is a native New Orleanian is taking my into N.O. tomrrow to show me the "real" New Orleans. She just rhapsodizes when she talks about it. We always seem to have a good time together so we should have fun.
Wednesday I have appointment witht the Neurologist.
LDBLOND - Glad to so you back, we have been thinking of you.
Someone asked about Nature's Own SGSFWW rolls. I am able to get them in the regular bread sections of Winn Dixie, Sav-A-Center (A & P) and Albertson's. If your grocer carries Natur'e Own Products why not ask them if they would get the rolls?
It is wonderful to see so many posts. I guess we all hit the ground running after the holidays.
Hope to be to chat tomorrow night if not too tired, also post about my day.
Am still OP!!
Take care sef

Good Morning All! Just wanted to touch base this morning before we leave for work. Still feeling pretty poorly. I'm thinking the majority of my woes are due to the TOM. Yuck!!! Anyway, as I learned in yoga, I will spend the day trying to just be with how I feel and not try to fix it. I think most of our stuggles come from us fighting what is. (Wow, how did I get so deep with just one eye open?)
Hope you all have great days. The kind that when you get in bed tonight, you can smile because you know did the best you could and that feels great.
See you at the chat.

Don't have much time to post, just a quick hello to you all-Eli is off this morning, taking his DD Denise out for lunch and who knows where else, so I have to get ready. Will be able to reply to all later today.
Happy to report the scale is going in the right direction again. Felt nauseaus, headache and tired last night, always a good sign for the scale the next day:) Journaled my food really well yesterday, will post that on the FOOD FOR THOUGHT board later as well.

Good Morning
It's another bright and sunny morning here. The temp is about 34F which is wonderful for this time of year. I was down a pound this morning to 194, same as I was five days ago but it has been back up to 195 since then. Thought I'd better mention it to-day as it is usually up for WIW.
Deb and Slaphappy - Thanks for the info on Disney tickets. I did check out the AAA site and the discounted tickets are for Florida residents only. Too bad. A friend of mine did get a good deal from the CAA a couple of years ago but they don't seem to have any specials at the moment. Who knows maybe they will have something before my trip. If not I will wait until I get there before buying tickets. I will be checking out the hotel that I will be staying at to see if they have any good deals. I will certainly stay away from those ticket booths that Happy mentioned. I had already been warned about those.
Deb - I hope everything went well for Lauren yesterday. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for her. Too bad she has to wait so long to hear the results. She must be on tenterhooks.
Slaphappy - I'll be coming with four of my grandchildren as well as my dd and ds. The childrens ages are 15, 13, 10 and 8, all boys. I may skip the Magic Kingdom as that seems to be for the younger kids. But it will be up to them where they want to go. I'm glad my son is coming with us as he can take the older boys if they wan't to do something different to the younger ones and I can go with my daughter and the younger kids. I'm sure we won't have time to do everything I'd like to do. I would like to go to Universal Studios if there is time. Also I've been told Seaworld is worth a visit. It looks like I will have to make more than one trip. Maybe I can come with my other son and his family next year. I would have liked them to come with us this time but my ds had work committments and couldn't make it. Next January may be a good time for him.
Have to get going. Have to go to work this aftrnoon, so going to have an early lunch and go and do a bit of shopping before work.
Bye for now.
Marie.

HI-good Tuesday! I have been out of the loop for a few days-my little one is sick :( we just got her report card (kindergarten!) and commented on her perfect attendance! now she has this horrible hacking sore throat bit of a fever thing! poor little thing. Tomorrow my boys have a half day so kindergarted has none sooo three days off she should be better! I forgot how much attention they need when they are sick. My kids (knock on wood) are rarely sick.
As for my food problem! LOL I have been TRYING. No excersise since Fri. I am using her as an excuse. Tomorrow hubby is home i am going for a walk (i hope).
Deb--about this heat wave! we are having one too ! (50ish yesterday) but tomorrow back down to the 30's . I have no sympathy for you!!!
Well gotta gooooooo read all the posts hope you all feel better! Hope i can get back on tomorrow and reply a bit.

Looks like a Spring morning here in SW LA. Temps in the upper 60's, birds singing & still kind of hazy, even though it's almost noon. I slept in again this morning. Seems like I just can't drag myself out of bed when I don't have something diffenite on my schedule. Just being lazy & trying to catch up for all those horrible shifts I pulled last 2 weeks I think. AND getting ready for some more this week, as I hear the cencus is still up.
Rosalie You had asked last week if we were working short-handed. Yes we are. We don't have much of a PRN pool to draw from & sure don't have enough full-time people for the increased patient load we have right now. We are a small hospital, so we don't have the adequate staff alot of times when we get this busy. I'll make it. We are happy that more people are utilizing our facilities. Our Docs are over worked right now too, which is a blessing in alot of ways. Anyway....enough of that....your upcoming trip sounds like it's going to be alot of fun. Wish I could plan to go & meet you, but it's just out of the question for me right now. My dd brought her boys to a really fun place in Orlando last summer, but right the name escapes me. Discover Zone maybe??? She said they all had a blast!
Laurie Your date sounds like it was a really nice time. Using him??? NO I don't think so. You are filling a need in your life & enjoying his company. Sounds like he's enjoying yours as well if he wants to cook for you. Enjoy the adventure.
Debbie Hope you & Eli had a nice lunch with his dd. Glad to hear the scale is on it's way back down. I hit a new low this am, just not real sure what it is:lol: It's BELOW 135 for sure, but not quiet 134, so I put 134.75 into my Weight Commander. I got one of the pics from my sis & will post it here today. It was taken Sunday after church.
Kim Sure hope you feel better by the time you read this post! Have a good one.
SEF How's the sitter???:D Hope you & friend have a wonderful day on the town. Did you go to the Cafe' du Mun? I always like going there & the walk in the square. It's been a few years since I've been there.
Well, got to get moving. Have clothes to wash & dishes to load in the dish washer. Will try my best to be at chat tonight. Have a great day everyone!

hello to all,
well it is official, i have lost a total of 26 and 1/2 big pounds! i got on the scale this morning at work(could not wait until WIW)because i just felt smaller(?). anyway a measly 1/2 pound, i guess i looked agitated because of the slow loss again and was reassured again by my co-worker that several people had stated it was weighing heavy. my patients wife who had lost 60 pounds over the last year on a 1200 cal ADA diet told me she weighs everyday at home and had weighed that morning, so she got on the scale and emphatically told me that it was 5 pounds heavy!
i go back to the doctor in 2 weeks for a check up and will know for sure but in the mean time i feel good! my blood sugars continue to drop and so has the amt of insulin i take each eve, i really hope i can get off the injections soon! i am in a smaller size scrub outfit and my stack of too big clothes keeps growing, hooray for sugarbusters!!!!!
will try to post later, i need to get my daughter to scouts. ( i do not want girl scout cookies, i do not want girl scout cookies, i need to keep repeating this over and over!)
i will be at chat this evening, talk to you then!

Well... the virus didn't last, and boy was I starving today!!!
I was off work because my 9 year old woke up throwing up, and can't even keep down juice... poor guy!
Anyway, I've basically snacked my way thru today because I'm afraid to bring back the "cha-cha-cha's" if ya know what I mean. So it's been :
Juice this A.M., triscuits and cheese, and lots of water...
For dinner I'm gonna try a real meal. Pork steak, Green Beans, and I'm thinking of making some cheese dip to eat my triscuits with! Velveeta, ground beef, and tomatoes. I'm craving it... prolly not the best for my tummy.. but I'm off tomorrow anyway, It's my son's awards day at school!
Deb - I didn't mean I was gonna starve for WIW... I meant I'd probably weigh less this week because I got rid of so much this weekend.. and that I'm not going to be disappointed when some of it comes back because I start eating again!! LOL!!
I also meant I gotta buy a scale sometime because I"ll feel left out on WIW's because I can't WI!!!!! No scale in my house... anywhere!
Anyway.. I"m off to search the paper for a good used washer since hubby burned ours up this weekend overloading it!!!!!!!!
~when it rains...~

BigKnightsMomma Sounds as though you did to listen to the way you feel, how the clothes fit, & the decreased amount of Insulin you're taking instead of the scale! All adds up to me & sounds like you are surely on the right track! Congrats!!!
Beth Glad to hear you're feeling better today. Hope you can tune out those desires to munch!

HiedieHo All!!!!
Did not think I would be here this afternoon, but here I am!!!! My friend and I cancelled our excursion. It was very foggy this morning and she doesn't like to drive in fog, so we will go another day. Around here the fog gets so thick the police convoy cars across the causeway. The other day traffic was backed up for miles because they weren't letting cars go across the lake.
I have spent the morning cleaning out last year's paperwork from the file drawer. It's amazing what you accumulate during the year. I bought a shredder and filled the basket almost twice.
MELF - I'll have to ask my friend if she knows Cafe' du Mun. She probably does.
QUILTER - Was you that was mentioning Changing Places? I like some of the shows on BBC America, a lot of our shows are versions of their shows. They have a show called Changing Rooms and one called Ground Force that is like our Surprise Gardner, Both shows allow two days to complete project. On BBC there are some good mysteries too.
DEBBIE - How will you ever manage to wait until March for Lauren's audition results? You know we have everything crossed that we can possibly cross!!
Well, time to move about again. Take care, sef

Hello all,
I have had a fun day. Sara started crying on the way to school this morning saying her tummy hurt. So she came back home with me and layed on the sofa all day. She never threw up and now she feels some better. She ate a little chicken broth and crackers for lunch. I was planning on taking my MIL to the dr. this am but someone else had to pitch hit for me b/c of Sara.
I am back on track just as planned and today I have had no cravings ...I am so happy!!!!!!! I hope to be in Chat tonight.

Hi all- I feel like a lurker, there is just so much on this board and I don't have time ever to reply! I'm not quite sure what I'm doing, but I seem to be busy all the time. <aybe I'll make it to chat tonite, for a change.
Melf- That is a much more flattering picture of you. What a great job you've done!
BKM- Good for you! Isn't it great to see that stack of too big clothes? and even better on the med levels.
Laurie- whooohooo on the date! I'd be terrified to date again. Glad it went well.
Deb- I've got my fingers, toes, eyes, ankles and everything else crossed for Lauren but I don't think I can hold it til March!:dizzy: Just practice for you for waiting for those college letters! Not too far in your future....
Beth- Glad you're feeling better, seems to be quite a bug going around everywhere.
Get your water in everybody...tomorrow is WIW! I for one will not get on the metal monster tomorrow because I'm so puffed up from pre TOM that I can't get my usually falling off rings off my finger. Weighing would just have me in tears, so I'll skip it tomorrow!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!
BOB just got home from the gym where she did her workout for 45 minutes before I had to stop. My Dr has told me to stop when I get tired and right now that's about my limit..but I sure do feel better after I do it..
MEL...I'll turn the spigot on at the end of my post so everyone will remember to drink their water.
BETH & BUS....load that big ole auto up with all the SB gals out your way and head on over...That would be GREAT if all of you could come to the beach this fall...
BKM....WAY TO GO GIRL!!!!!
MELF....OH....MY...GAWD....!!!!!! I would not have known you had I met you on the street!! You look MARVLOUS!!
ROSALIE...You could take a chance with the $99 tickets, they don't check everyone, but if they do stop you, you'll not only be out of the park, you'll be out all that money..I would go on their web site..that way you can email them with your questions. They have been hurting for business so there just might be some deals over at the park.. ;)
OK, the SHRUB is on TV tonight and taking up my NYPD & PHILLY time....I'm not a happy camper...
Later ;)

Hi all! I'm working late - my hunny is working late - it's a good thing we didn't have anything planned this evening. I decided if I have to work late I deserve a break to check in with my buddies.
Has anyone heard from SparkleScamp? My parents are going to be in Hawaii for a few days on their way to Taiwan to see my little brother for Chinese New Year and I really want her to meet them. I've e-mailed her, so hopefully I'll hear from her soon.
Haven't walked since Sunday. I was supposed to go to the gym last night, but we had to go pick up my car. Had to get a new alternator - ouch! Tonight, well, it's a good thing tonight was supposed to be my night off.
MEL - I'll definitely be pounding the water tonight! Poor Meister will be so tired tomorrow from me getting up and down all night. :o
BETH - A very belated welcome to the board! Your posts totally crack me up.....Rice Krispy Treats would be disappearing rather rapidly if they were in my driveway. :^: I think we bought our scale when I started WIW's here. Now Vince is threatening to hide it and only bring it out on Wednesdays if I don't quit weighing.
MELF - So good to see you posting regular again and what a beautiful picture!! That's an awesome photo of you! How's your jaw doing?
RHOO - Sorry to hear the little one is ill. Nothing breaks my heart more than sick little ones. You'll get back in the swing of things. Don't be too hard on yourself - don't be too easy, either, though! ;) What used to be my motivation for walking was books on tape. I'd get a really good book on tape and only allow myself to listen to it while I was walking. Lemmee, tell you, I did some walking! Now my motivation is FROG and getting to walk the WDW marathon with her!
FROG - I completely understand what you mean about Bill and Vince and running speed. What I was thinking was that Vince will not run the 1/2 marathon if there are only a couple of us, but if there's what he feels is a good size crew of SB Gals walking, running, cheering then he won't feel bad leaving me behind. (that sounds bad, but isn't supposed to be) I know how hard I'm working to do my best in the marathon and I, selfishly, wouldn't want to slow down my pace to walk with someone - this is my first and I really just want to see what I can do all out effort-wise. Likewise, I would not want anyone to short change themselves and alter their pace to slow down to walk with me. I was thinking that we could be like that purple team - just have a bunch of us out there walking, running and cheering and each one of us doing our best and we can cheer each other on at the finish line and have a rendesvous at one of the family reunion tents (after those massages in that other tent). That way if the guys and you and DEBBIE and MELIRIS want to all out run y'all could without feeling bad and we'd have them waiting for us at the finish line. Vince would feel better if there was another man running - especially Bill since he really likes Bill and he will definitely have quite the wait for me after he finishes if he runs. (sorry for the book)
DEBBIE - Got everything crossed for Lauren - but, why, oh, why are they going to make us wait so long?????? Poor girl - at least she knows she did well. I like the food journal thread. I'll post on there sometime soon - I promise. I like seeing what other people are eating - I like looking in people's windows when I'm out walking too! Some cool decorations and some people still have their Christmas trees up! I'm a voyeur - I admit it. Thanks for posting the pics! Please, e-mail me your snail mail address and I'll send you some money for copies of them.
BTW, Y'ALL I don't glow - I'm just so freakin' PALE WHITE that next to everyone else it looks that way! I'm also so pink that when I stand next to Vince he looks like dark-orange man! But thank you very much for the kind words.
BUSDEB - No cravings?!? I'm still waiting for that day!
BKM - Hot diggity dog!! I'm so happy for you! Those smaller clothes mean more to me than the scale ever could. (did I say that?)
SHIRLEY - We've had really bad fog here too. The other morning I missed my turn off for work and ended up at Orlando International Airport. That little sidetrack set me back almost a whole 30 minutes 'cause there's not really anywhere to turn around and I had to drive ALL THE WAY up to the luggage/passenger drop off area to get on the road back out. Talk about a GOOBER MOMENT! :dz:
LAURIE - Awesome that you had a good time on your date! I agree with everyone else - just have fun. It doesn't have to lead somewhere. If it's not something serious it will end up petering out anyway, but you'll have had fun and probably met some other interesting people along the way. I'm so happy for you!
MARIE - I've got a big red circle on my calendar to get to come meet you! I'll look into Disney discounts as well. We may have some coupons or something at our HR Department.
QUILTER - One eye open? Are you cheating in yoga class? I hope you're feeling in tip top shape soon!
I know I'm desparately missing someone I wanted to say something to, but I can't remember and I really have to get back to work - I'll post it tomorrow.
 I won't make it to chat, but I know you will have fun!

Sloshine & BOB, thanks for the compliments! Yea, I'm pleased with the picture. My Sis took that with her digital camera. I had my Baby girl here for the day today & when I dropped her off her friend said hey, do you feel 20 years younger? Cause you sure do look it! :o I'm still surprised when I look in the mirror. It's like.... is that really me?
SolShine, my jaw & mouth are feeling great. I have not had much pain at all the past few weeks. Still wearing my splint for the jaw & medication seems to be keeping the Trigeminal Neuralgia in check. Thank the Lord. I don't miss it at all.
Slaphappy Hey, You're not far from New Smyrna Beach! That's where we vacation in June! Hope you feel better soon from that bug. Seems like that's going around the board pretty much the last couple of days.:(
SEF Sorry you didn't get to go on your outing today. Guess I spelled it wrong, it's actually Cafe' Du Monde. It's right off the square. Here's a link to it. http://www.cafedumonde.com/
Well, Got to go. Been a long day & I'm not sure if I'll get to chat or not, but will try.

Evening All:wave:
Lauren and I went out for dinner tonight upon her request. It was her BIRTHDAY DINNER that she gets each year. She LOVES:love: lobster and each year we go to a place called CAPTAINS TAVERN. Eli had to work, so it was just us two (Michael won't go, hates the seafood smell, as well as the seafood!)
We ended up at (where else) Ole Ole with Denise today-was good as usual-Carbolite today was butterscotch and vanilla mixed, at least for me it was. Also picked up 3 more cases of agave, 2 for me, 1 for my Sister. Took the guy a piece of my CRUSTLESS CHEESECAKE, he went nuts over it and couldn't believe it was made with the agave syrup. He said if anyone wants to order it, he'd try to get it and ship it out (he's checking on availability)-the shipping is the killer though-they would ship USPS and that's abou $9 for 1 case-but if anyone's interested, just e-mail me and let me know and I'll provide his phone number for you.
QUILTER, hope you are feeling better tonight. Seems we both have been feeling a little funky later, I'm about mid-cycle and it's been plaguing me. I hate when I feel "weird." Do you have any plans to go to any more yoga classes? I remember when you were going, you seemed to enjoy them.
ROSALIE, I will keep my eye out for any specials, as I am sure others on the board from FL will. I wonder if I can buy the FL passes and just give them to you? I know they do ID sometimes, but not sure if this is always the case-will call the AAA office and find out. I have a membership until April.
RHROO, sorry to hear your little one is sick:( I'd take your heat wave ANY day!!!
ZSU, congrats on your 5K-that's great! Seems you are moving right along in your pregnancy. Did you ever decide if you want to know what you are going to have, boy or girl? Hope you can change your schedule in March so you can join us-let us know!!!
HAPPY, not set plans yet for Orlando as far as meeting place, but it will be somewhere outside of a theme park, that's for sure. Sure hope you can make it, like I said, even if just for a few hours, it's better than nothing. I personally am going to try and come up on Friday and stay overnight both Friday and Saturday, but definitely Saturday night. I liked the hotel we stayed in at our meeting this month and would like to stay there again-thought maybe those who wanted to spend the night in O-town would want to do a slumber party in the room-bring some SB LEGAL goodies that don't need to be heated-and just veg out and talk in the evening-day time, who knows! Shopping is always a good thing to do when you're among women!;) If you want to type in the smilie icons, just click on the little board that shows them and you can see all the dots and dashes that make them up so you can do them yourself. Like  is colon lol then colon : lol : but put together. Some are easier to remember than others. FEEL BETTER!!!!
SHEANN, I have to look again to see what I think you may be lacking in (doing this off line at the time). You may just need to increase your intake as a whole. I see so many people not eating enough and it's going to get you into a rut you don't want to get into-easy enough to fix though-bet you never thought anyone would tell you to EAT MORE!!!
MELF, CONGRATS on another new all time low-girl, you are wasting away!! Glad you liked the pics. I enjoyed seeing the one you posted today-lots better picture, can finally see your angelic smile:angel: I too hope you can see the gals in Orlando again in June. I always try to make a meeting but June is hard for me due to the end of school and so many volunteer programs we have going on-but I'll keep it in mind:) Would love to meet you too!!! Thanks for reminding me about the post I screwed up on, will have to fix that tonight.
LAMAP, hope this time you can make it to our little weekend get together, you def. have enough time to request the time off where they should give it to you. It's the weekend of March 9th & 10th. Maybe you can carpool with BOB?!? Guy sounds nice that you are seeing. Maybe no sparks yet, which may be a good thing actually, better to become friends first, at least I think. My ex was never what I'd consider a friend, but Eli is my best friend-a big difference between the two! I don't think you are using him at all, it's nice to have someone to go out with-as long as you don't lead him on in thinking anything different than what you tell him and you're honest with him, he should be happy. Cool beans on the gals in your class and having them possibly join you doing SB-good luck!
SEF, we all did have a great time and I swear, I don't think any of us felt like we were meeting for the first time that day-like old friends who haden't seen each other for a while, that's all. Good going on the exercise today-you seem to be getting into the exercise routine!! Sorry you had to cancel your plans today-hope you reschedule soon. Good luck at the neuro. tomorrow-let us know how things go. Twas I who asked about the Natures Own-will ask them next time I go to the outlet:) Accumulating papers in a year-you should see the crap I accumulate in a day! Trust me, I hate waiting to see if she gets in, but I have no alternative-ummm, just keep a hair crossed, that will do the trick until we get word;)
BIGK, congrats on another 1/2lb gone as well as finding yourself in smaller clothes!
BETH, glad to hear the virus is leaving the bod, but sorry to hear your son seems to be sick now. I feel so lucky, my kids never get sick. LOL! I was joking with you about starving for WIW, since you were sick, I figured that was "cheating". BUT, I say, take the weight loss, any way you can get it-keeping it off, that's harder!!
BUSDEB, sorry to hear Sara's not feeling well, but on the other hand, glad to hear you are back OP!
MEL, I know what you mean about waiting-when we were waiting to see if Michael got into the IB PROGRAM it was like that, or at least what I think it would be like. Thanks for all the good thoughts!
BOB, good going on the exercise-I'm impressed!!! Wish I could get interested in going to a gym.
SOL, when I get all the pics back I'll e-mail you with the site and you can let me know which pics you want to have copies made of. Hey, I don't see you counting the days down to our next meeting-just the WDW sign-up! LOL!!
Well, it's almost time for chat, so time to finish this up. Please remember TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!! I wish you all luck with the metal monster tomorrow!!

Was out with a friend and her daughter and missed chat. Tried to log-in when I got home and couldn't. :( Ended up sleeping from 7:30-9:30 last night and then fell back to sleep after 11:00. Sleep cycle still all messed up!
Kitty update: She is recovering nicely from her surgery. Quiet most of Friday and Saturday. Has been in all the time since coming home Fri, except for a little quick out this morning. DH, remember, the non-cat person that he is, encouraged her to sleep on the bed Friday and Sat nite if she so desired. He really seems to have taken a sharp liking to her. Go figure! :spin: I really think she won him over with her cool, demure demeanor, just like me  NOT!
Still no report on the beach. Sorry :?: Will contact Allison tomorrow. Did find out that she attempted to get us Wed-Sun or Thur-Sun in late October and that the family rate (rate we're anticipating) is $150 a nite. Non-family rate is $300.00 per nite. She has asked to come with us, she's been SBing since June, and I told her "of course!" Will post something as soon as I know!
Don't have time to post to all now, but did want to send a quick note to SOL!
SOL - Hey girl! Saw your post. I have to say that sometimes we lose so much in translation with this form of communication. I hope we didn't miscommunicate. I appreciate your honesty in your last post about what you need from others in the race next Jan. I think that is 100% the right attitude for you to have. I think BP would enjoy running with Vince if they can work it out and I can see Vince's point of view about running it or cheering us on. I hope that he and Bill can work it out to do it together, Bill would probably really like to do this with someone who could challenge him or at least have a similar pace. Bill and Vince have a mutual respect. :) I think it would be great if we could all start together and just go from there, as each of us will have our own set of needs. I wish I could convey to you how PROUD of you I am! I think your spirit and attitude are terrific! And you do too glow! You have the inner peace and beauty that lights up your lovely exterior! I mean it too! I was kinda yucked out by mine and BP's pics. We both commented on how round we look. We're our toughest critics aren't we? I look forward to hearing more about your training! Hang in there and remember: "A fit woman is a powerful woman!" GO FOR IT!
Good Luck tomorrow everyone! Hope the scale is down for me too. Hard for me to tell how it will turn out.
Goodnight

Hope you all who chatted had fun. I was watching the State of the Union message and couldn't do both at the same time.
Danged if I wasn't up 2 pounds this morning. I've been doing this for the last month and am really sick of it. I can't even tell that I'm losing inches. I only measure bust, waist and hips, and there's been no movement. :?:
Drum roll please: I exercised today. :smug: Yay! I rode my elliptical for 30 minutes before dinner. If I can do this every day, maybe the scale will start moving again.
We are in for storms tomorrow and it sure looked like spring in the skies today. I surely hope this is not a look at things to come in March. They don't call it tornado ally for nothing.
I hope you all have a successful WIW tomorrow. We'll see on me. I'm not hopeful, though.
I haven't heard from Chris in a couple of months. Had gotten an email from her between Thanksgiving and Christmas and she had decided to take a break from the board. She was feeling a little too competitive with it all. Let me know if you do hear from her.

Hey Everyone!
How goes it? I’m feeling a tiny bit better today. Still exhausted, but managed to make us two huge salads for supper tonight. The only thing that sounded good. Thank goodness we had all the supplies at home.
Oh, I posted a picture of me and the better half on the photo board. It's not very recent, but at least give you a somewhat clear idea as to what we look like. But we don't dress up like that very often. It was one of our better days. LOL
DEB---I just relayed to Paul what you said about your weather down there. He literally cringed and said, “YUCK!” We wish we could send you a little relief. I’m not surprised it’s so hot down there, because we’ve had weather in the 60’s for the past three days at least. That would feel like a cold front to you, right? Glad to hear that the scale is being cooperative. Sounds like your defective detective work is paying off.
ROSALIE---Congrats on the one pound loss. That’s great!!! Are you doing your last minute weight loss before your trip??? Are you getting excited about your trip? You are going to have so much fun. And then you’ll also get to meet some of the gang. Can’t wait to see the pictures. Hey, you’re not laying over in Cincinnati airport, are you? Just wondering. Cause if you were, I’d come out and visit for a bit.
MELF---I know what you mean about it feeling like spring. It’s the same way here. I noticed that our daffodils are peeping up out of the ground just a little bit. I want to go and cover them up with more dirty, because they are going to get frozen badly pretty soon. Thanks for the kind words. I am feeling a bit better. Supper is managing to cooperate, so let’s keep our fingers crossed. My gosh, Mary, are those collarbones that I saw in your new picture???? Way to go!!!! I used to have collarbones, but I think I loaned them out to someone, because I haven’t seen them for a LONG time. HA!
BKM---26.5 pounds???? THAT IS AWESOME!!!! You should be so proud of yourself. I sure am proud of you. I can’t wait til I can say that. Guess I should get on the scale some time soon so that I’ll know when I do start losing. How are your clothes feeling? Just keep thinking about those wonderful 26.5 pounds everytime you are tempted to have a sneak at one of those pesky GS cookies. You can do it. You can live without those cookies. And think how good you will feel. Those cookies are loaded with all sorts of terrible stuff, lots of preservatives and things we can’t even say the names. Stay away and have an apple! Not very exciting, but it’s all I could come up with quickly.
SEF---Yes, it was me talking about Trading Places. I like that show, but didnt’ know there was the original one from England. Lucky you for getting to see all those shows. Enjoyed our chat tonight. You are great!!!
Well, I know I didn’t get through everybody tonight. But I chose to go to the chat instead. I’ll get with the rest of you tomorrow. It’s late. Past my bedtime!
Sweet dreams!

Rosalie - here's some information from a vacation discussion board where they were talking about discounts and Disneyworld.
they are offering some good discounts on their resort rooms. Some arae with codes. Others are free upgrades for those with standign reservations. Whew! I am a happy camper today!
The banquet went very well last night. Over three hundred people attended and everything went without a hitch (well, only a few). As I suspected, I didn't get to eat anything at the banquet (thought everyone there raved about the food--so apparently my choices were popular. I had more than 20 politicians on the program and kept it to under 90 minutes. That's something of a minor miracle--but I'm fierce about making them observe time limits!
I came home exhausted and fell into bed. Today I felt like I had a hangover--but seem to be reviving some tonight. It has been very peaceful NOT having both phones ringing all day long!
Thanks to all my angels riding on my shoulder! I appreciate all of your good thoughts!
I got a phone call from one of the HFS in town. When I asked them for agave and they didn't have it they said they would order it. I didn't think about it anymore, but they called this morning and said they got it. So I went by and bought all they had--three 8 oz bottles. It is the Sweet Cactus Farms and they said they would start carrying it from now on. So folks in Auburn now have a supply of Agave (or will when the next shipment comes in on Monday). It helped that another woman was there and said she also used agave and would like it if she didn't have to go out of town to buy it.
I hope all the folks on the board who are sick or who have loved ones who are sick will be better soon. it is no fun and throws your metabolism for a loop! I'm thinking about you!
I've got to answer some emails and crawl into bed. I'll talk to everyone tomorrow!

I know I said I wasn't going to get on the scale, but I'm glad I did. Down a pound. Yipee! 175/138/130. I was sure I'd be up due to water retention and bigger muscles, so going down really means something to me. I'm actually looking leaner from all the Body for Life weight lifting, so I think the BF% has dropped more than the scale. Will see next time I try my caliper gadget in a week or 2.
Will post more than bragging later,

Real quick:
FILISSE---Congrats on the successful banquet. Sister friend, I wish I had you up here with me in October. We could use your expertise!!! Glad it went well and that the politicians weren't too windy.
MEL---WAY TO GO on the pound loss. Awesome!!! You must be doing something right, because you have whipped the one-eyed monster into shape. Keep it up!!! Every pound you lose is a fantastic step in the right direction!!!
Bye Gals. Catch you later.

MARCH 1 IS COMING QUICKLY!!!!
37 DAYS UNTIL SB GET TOGETHER IN ORLANDO - PART DEUX!!
Not much time, but wanted to check in and let you know that the friggin' scale says 198. I don't get it! I'm working out harder, more often now than I was when I was actually losing weight. I'm gonna start plugging my stuff into www.fitday.com again and see if there's something that I'm missing. After I get back in the swing of things I'll make it public, but I'll also pick some days to post on the Food for Thought board. I'm running late because i measured everything and wrote down all the essential information for everything to put into fitday.
DEBBIE - I'm DEFINITELY counting down the days until our get together in March!! Let's see......who all is going to be there? MARIE and YOU and BOB and GATORGAL and ZSUZSU and BKM and SLAPHAPPY and LAMAP and me. Who am I missing? It will certainly be a blast - even if, like you said, we only get a few hours for all of us to get together. My whole week-end will be set aside to spend time with you wonnnnerful wimmin!
Gotta run to work, but I'll check back in to see everyone's good news at lunch.

Well, I lost a pound this week. :) I think I'm going to resume my treadmill workouts soon, so that should help with the weight loss. My short-term goal is the get under 200 pounds!

I know I've been missing the past few days, but things have been crazy! I'll post more later, but I wanted to share my good news: I'm down 2 more pounds! Yaaaayyy!! That's a total of 11 pounds gone since I started Jan 7! I hope everyone's having a great day!

Good morning all
Well, I am back up a wee bit this morning, just as I predicted. But still below 195 , barely, at 194 1/2. My lowest weight is always a Tuesday or a Thursday :s:
Rhroo - Sorry to hear your dd was sick yesterday. Hope to-day is a better day for her.
Melf - That's a beautiful picture. You look great.
BKM - 26 1/2 pounds lost is great. I wouldn't worry about only losing half a pound this week. Every little bit counts and some weeks you'll lose more than others. More important is the fact that you are eating better and getting your bs under control. It must feel good to be able to reduce your insulin. Way to go on the smaller clothes. Those girl scout cookies are a pain aren't they. There was a box on the desk at work the other day and I tried my hardest to ignore them. O.K. I did give in and had one but most of the time I have been able to ignore them.
Beth - Glad to hear you were feeling better yesterday but sorry to hear your son was sick. Hope to-day is a better day for him.
Sef - Sorry you had to cancel your excursion. Hope you can get to go another day. It is certainly no fun driving in fog.
Busdeb - Hope your dd is feeling better to-day. So many board and family members sick this week, there must be a bug travelling through the computer :).
BOB - I wouldn't want to take a chance on those $99 tickets - it would be just my luck to be asked for ID. I'll keep looking and see what I can find. I probably won't get the tickets until I get to Orlando. They may even sell them at a discount at the hotel I will be staying at. I may give them a call and ask them. Glad you are keeping up with the workouts.
Slaphappy - Hope yopu are feeling better to-day.
Deb - Thanks for your offer with the tickets, but I think I'd better forgot about those - see my post to BOB above. I was checking the site that KAREN told me about and found somewhere where I may be able to get a 5% discount. Doesn't sound like much but when you think of the cost for 7 people it would add up to quite a bit of saving.
Frog - It's nice to hear that dh has finally accepted Kitty as a family member.
Quilter - Hope you are feeling better. Last minute weight loss before the trip? That's the joke of the year  I was 197 last September, and still only at 194 1/2. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, eat more or eat less, it still doesn't want to come off. Oh well, as long as the gals at work keep calling me skinny  I will try and not obsess over it too much, although I do get p....d off over it sometimes. We should be driving through (or around) Cincinnati on the morning of 7th March on the I 75. If you stand outside your house I will wave as we go by :D. Wish I had time to stop for a visit.
Karen - Thanks for all the info about Disney. We do have our hotel booked already, we are staying outside Disney, not in their resort. I am just looking for tickets. I checked out that website and they had lots of good stuff, although most of the better deals are for US residents. The one I found that looked most promising was a 5% discount at the Walmart Travel Agency in Kissimmee. I will check out mousesaver.com again later to see if they have anything else. It looks like it is updated quite often. Once again thanks for checking this out for me.
Fillise - Glad to hear that the banquet went well. You must feel relieved that it is all over.
Mel - Another pound off - way to go. And only eight pounds to goal!
Solshine - Sorry the scale wasn't kind to you this morning. I wish I new a way to help you win this battle. All I can say is hang in there. You know you are doing the right thing, exercising and eating healthily. I'll keep my fingers crossed that things will turn around for you soon. I'm looking forward to meeting you and all the SB gang in March.
Darasmus and Hamsm - Congrats on your loss this week.
Gotta run.
Marie.

Good morning everyone!
Congratulations on pounds lost Daramus and Hamsm.
If you stayed the same or gained, just keep on the program. The last few days I have been depressed that I gained 4.5 pounds. Everyone was very supportive of me and told me to hang in there and this morning I am down to my January goal of 277. So... it really does work to be positive and keep on keeping on.

Good Morning all,
Glad to report that I am down 2 pounds this week. I knew that I could do just had to get back on the ole wagon. One more pound and I will be half way to goal. I will be there when I get that....like they say THE JOURNEY IS HALF THE FUN.
I was glad to see you all in chat last night that were there. I am sorry I had to leave before I was actually finished. It is always good to be able to talk one on one like that. I am a chat nut so it is right up my alley. LOL
I think I am heading out to ride April....I think it has dryed enough to be able to lope in the pasture.
Daramus....I don't think I have welcomed u to the board...so WELCOME. Good job on your loss. Keep up the good work.
To all others that loss WTG and those who didn't keep plugging you will.
Cya all later.

Holding steady this week. It is too be expected. I didn't have my best week--not my worst either. So holding steady is about right!
Trying to catch up today with all the work I let slide in the last week.
Kim--glad you are feeling better! Hang in there--I hate TOM too.
Sol--are you measuring yourself? Remember it doesn't seem to be all that unusual for weight loss to stall a bit when you begin building muscle. I've seen a number of us go through this--including myself. When I stalled the tape measure was still going down--so I knew I was doing myself some good! The scale will get moving again!
Congrats to all the losers!

AArrrgghhh! I had typed a long one and the computer gremlin ate it! Gotta make this one quick!
To all those who aren't feeling well or have loved ones who are not well, I wish you all a speedy recovery.
Well, I'm down a pound from my low! :D That's great considering TOM is due any minute. Now at 163. Will have to change sig later. My goal for January was 5 lbs gone--that would have been 159. Don't think I'll make it, but I just have to keep trying.
Hope EVERYONE has a GREAT day.

I'm down 1 (I think) I was a little bleary-eyed when I looked at the scale his morning. I need to get a digital one with big numbers.
Hope everyone is having a good day. I was so bummed yesterday. My friend told me that the Sam and Libby shoe stores are going out of business and are having huge sales. The only problem is I promised my husband I wouldn't buy any new shoes until I had lost 15 pounds. I'm almost halfway there, but still, a promise is a promise.
Congrats to all the losers. Way to go!!

Congrats! To those that have lost weight! I have not weighted myself today at all. I was sick all day yesterday, so I am sure that my weight is back up, I have not even excercised this week at all. So tonight I have to work out 3xs as hard! I am ready for the weekend.
Next week I am on vacation, so I will not be posting.

That's a good sign!

HiedieHo All!!!!
Congrats to all the losers. Cheer up it will get better for the stay the samers and gainers. I did not get weighed at Neuro office today and will not weigh other than doctors.
Yeah, went to the neurologist today. Not very encouraging. Unless he can find what is causing the neuropathy there is not much that can be done for it. None of my meds are anything that helps pain and discomfort it causes and unless I wanted something he felt it was best to live with pain. I take 9 pills a day now and don't want to add anymore. I have a good tolerance for pain and have been living with it quite a while so why not a little longer.
I had to go to lab for a slew of blood tests, urine, etc. Then he has me scheduled on the 18th for nerve tests. Neuropathy could be caused by the rheumatoid arthritis. In the hands it is overlaid by carpal tunnel syndrome. So let's hope the various tests and lab work can find a cause so it can be helped!
Because there is no sense of feel in feet I often stumble (I can see the Church Lady thinking I'm in my cups!) and when on bike I lose the pedals. At least I can walk and pedal!!!
Okay, I don't like myself with this negative attitude!!!! Now that I've lost weight I can reach those boot straps and will pull myself up by them!
QUILTER and Others who have been under the weather, I'm so glad you're feeling better.
To those who are still low I hope you all feel better soon.
It seems like a nap kind of day, think I will take one.
Take care all. Shirley

Hi all,
Congrats to all the losers this week.
Special message to Catlover.
I went out for the 3rd time to a par three course and played 18 little holes!! My best score was 43 for 9 holes. I need a lesson in woods and in how to hit my wedge. My putting is mediocre! All the balls off the tee go pretty well, up in the air with an arc, etc. I just push my tee woods off to the right, as in slice! Thought you'd want to know that I took the plunge.
I walked all 18 holes this morning. And I was somewhat tired when all finished. But it was fun.
Have a great day, all.

One more thing--
I got an e-mail from someone in Uganda, asking for help in translating her e-mail. It was all about what she had to eat that day. I am not sure if she was perusing the French bulletin board that I participate in, or if she is a lurker on this board. Hmmm. I'll let you know.

Evenin' everybody!
Wel, WIW was so-so, looks like I am up 8/10's of a pound, knew I shouldn't have eaten meat at dinner! I KNOW i haven't been drinking enough water this week. Unusual for me, SHAME on me! I also think that not running has impacted my fat-burning cardio and the bike at the gym isn't enough. Calling the chiropractor right now!
Congrats to all the losers! WOW, there were so many too! :D
SOL - I know how frustrating it can be to feel like you've gotten everything aligned - diet, exercise, rest, etc - and the scale still doesn't show you any love! Keep it up and the numbers will change for the positive. BTW - I  the countdown to WDW part 2!
"Talk" to eveyone again later. I'm off to the gym again! Remember, I'm not super keen on indoor exercising! Wish me luck!

Where is our fearless leader???? Deb? You out there? Or did you get buried under another 9 cases of agave?
DD and DS went off to cub scouts, so I have some quiet time alone. Thought I'd post before I run up to lift metal. I need a dress this weekend and except for a spiffy one for New Years's, haven't bought anything since forever except jeans, khakis and tops. So after work I went trudging off to the mall, found a real cute sleeveless shift with a matching embroidered sweater- NEVER would have bought that 6 months ago! First thing I tried on, so I was happy. Then I noticed the BATHING SUITS were in. OK, finding a dress in my new svelte size was easy, so...full of confidence, I scooped up about 3 dozen suits, even a few 2 piece which I haven't worn since 1980, and headed for the dressing room. Well, there's nothing to ruin a perfectly good day like trying on bathing suits! I always thought when I'd wear whatever size, or weigh whatever, it would be so easy and fun. WRONG! UGH, I've a long way to go before even those 2 piece tankini's that cover the middle look good. About another year of weights and abs, then maybe.
SOL- With all your walking, even if the scale's not moving you've got to be hardening up those leg muscles. Remember that muscle weighs more! Are your pants any looser in the thighs? Nothing seems to budge my tummy fat, but walking and running should at least move the thigh and butt fat off! Your WDW countdown cracks me up!:D
Beth- That's great you need smaller gear! Do you have to buy it or is that something they prove with the job? Hope its a job perk and they have to get you lots of smaller sizes!
Fillise- Congratulations on pulling off the banquet. You did a tremendous amount of work and certainly deserve a rest. Good idea to eat first- I always find a t my own parties, I'm way to busy to eat, but watch out a clean-up time! Luckily you probably didn't have to clean up
BusDeb- WTG on the 2 pounds! Getting back on track and mucking stalls must have worked.
hello everyone I've missed, like FROG, I'm off to the gym. It's arm day.

Well, I got my wish today. TOM came roaring through this afternoon and I feel so much better. Amazing, isn’t it?
Had a pretty good day today. I felt much better and was able to last the entire day. Paul’s in the kitchen cooking some supper (burgers) and guess what??? I’m NOT hungry. Where did that come from? Today I took tuna salad and some cheese for lunch and ate half at 1 and the other half at 4. So I’m really not ready for any supper yet. I kind of like this idea.
SOLBABY---Sorry to hear about your gain. Doesn’t make sense to me. Have you taken your measurements lately. In WW they used to tell us, if you’re doing everything right and you aren’t seeing a loss at the scales, check the tape measure. I know you’re thinner. Your pictures are screaming it! {{{{HUGS}}}}
DARAMUS---Congrats on the loss. I dig your short-term goal. You’ll see it before you know it!
HAM---Missed you at chat last night. Hey, way to go on the 2-pound loss. That’s terrific. You haven’t been on it a month and you’re already at 11 pounds??? That’s great.
ROSALIE---Your story of weighing the same doesn’t make any sense. Especially if everybody is calling you skinny. Are you holding your purse while you weigh? That might be it. You’re getting THINNER and your purse is getting HEAVIER. LOL Hey, at least you didn’t do what I did and gain everything back. A lost that remains lost is much better than a loss that gets found. I will mark my calendar for March 7 and be on my porch waving as you all pass through. I really wish there was time for a visit, but I understand that you are with a lot of others who don’t me from Adam. But just in case, we’re in the phonebook.
SHEANN---Glad to hear that you met your January goal. That’s great!!! You are so right about that positive attitude. I really have to work to keep that going. Because the first thing I do when I feel depressed or start having a pity party is head straight for the kitchen. And it’s NOT to make a salad. Keep up the good work. Remember, we are all pulling for you.
BUSDEB---Way to go on the 2 pounds!!! Super!!!! You are doing really well and that’s such an inspiration. Just think . . . that’s two pounds of butter GONE from your bod!!! Hope you had a nice ride with April.
ZANNE---Congrats on the loss. You are getting closer and closer to your goal. That’s wonderful!!! Just think, after TOM you’ll be even lighter.
SEF---So sorry the neuro didn’t have a solution to the pain. It seems impossible that they can’t find anything to help you. I am praying for a miracle, because there’s nothing I’d like more than to hear that you are pain free. I know it must be hard, but I hope you are able to keep your spirits up. We all know how powerful a positive attitude is. You are the queen of positive attitudes . . . hang in there, friend!
FROGGIE, honey---You’ll get that 8/10s off in no time. I’m sure of it. What’s with the water intake being down? That’s not like you at all. Good luck on the indoor exercising.
Not much else to talk about tonight. Tomorrow my boss is taking some of us to her Rotary Meeting. There’s some health expert who’s going to speak on health and weight management and stuff like that. That’s why we’re all going, because we all are fighting the same battle. The battle of the bulge. And the spare tire. And the cottage cheese dimples. You get the picture??? Anyways, I’m taking my notebook so that I can write down what he says. I’ll report in about it tomorrow night and tell you what I learn. Maybe I should tell him about sugarbusters! And all the successes we’ve had here.
Have a great night and a better day tomorrow. Take care. And SMILE!!!

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone:wave: (started this this morning, now it's after 9pm)
I am POOPED! I am sooo tired it's not funny. I was up around 2:30am when I saw Eli wasn't in bed (he worked late last night), so I got up and found him watching the boob-tube, went back to sleep but didn't fall back to sleep. He came in bed and ALL NIGHT LONG he had some weird SHAKING LEG SYNDROME (is that something real-sounds good enough to be something!). His leg would shake about ever 30-45 seconds, thus, shaking the bed. Finally, I go out of the bed around 3:45am and came on the computer until about 5am. Was finally able to fall asleep for bout a half hour-wasn't enough sleep and I'm just feeling pooped now.
Okay, the above was written this morning, didn't have a chance to finish until now, Eli was off today-surprisingly, we DID NOT GO TO BROWARD! We stayed down here, went to lunch at Maroosh
(ME rest) and ran to a few stores. By the time we ended up getting out of the house it was late morning, almost Noon.
Needless to say, I had no energy to get in my walk/jog today-my brain wanted to do so, but the body said no and the body won. THUS, I've seen a BIG increase in my food intake today with nothing satisfying me, thus, over eating today. BUT, in defense, it's mid-cycle for me and I find as much as I try to prevent this feeling, my hormones seem to go on a warpath all their own. It's like they are screaming "FEED US MORE!!!"
So, it's WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY and I can't complain (doesn't help if you do anyhow, right?) I'm at 120 this week. Still up from my lowest of 118 by 2lbs, but thankfully, in the lower range of my cushion:D I did take some measurements today and saw a slight decrease in my waist, tummy and thigh-the only places I ever measure. I sure do wish I had started measuring when I started SB. I can tell you on April 9th 2001 my waist was 33.5in, it's now just under 31. I can only imagine the 1 year before what it was when I started SB!
Thanks to all of you who joined me in the chat room last night-always a pleasure to get to speak to you in "real time."
FROG, we missed you in chat last night:( Sounds like someone named BP is becoming a pussy cat as far as the cat is concerned! Hoping you will hear about the beach house soon so we can start the REAL planning!! PALEEESE 8/10 of a pound, just go to the bathroom, you'll be back down again!!!;)
JRED, sorry you haven't seen a loss on the scale-would be happy to try to help you figure it out. Are you sure you're eating enough? Hormones wrecking havoc? Staying OP? There's usually an explanation for what's going on-just have to play detective. Congrats on getting some exercise in-maybe that just what you need to boost your metabolism to drop a few pounds.
QUILTER, glad you're doing a bit better. THANKS FOR POSTING THE PICTURE!!!! I love it, you two look like you were the wedding couple! I have to find some of the pictures from last year and get them posted-they were on disk and gosh knows where I stuck them!
FILLISE, sounds like you did a great job last night! CONGRATS! Good for you in getting the agave-hope they will get in some more for you before the supplies run dry-stock up!
MEL, see! You kvetched for nothing! CONGRATS on the pound loss! Couldn't post on the board for some reason this evening. Finally getting on here now! Hey, at least you tried a suit on-I would never dare to venture doing that in my life ever again. There's a big picture of me in every swimsuit dept with a big slash over my face and it reads "DON'T LET HER TRY ON A SUIT!"
SOL, 37 more days til we meet again-cool! Got any ideas what we can do for the day? Are you going to join us at the hotel-we'll have a slumber party! We'll have more than a couple hours, more like the entire day! HAPPY & LAMAP aren't sure yet if they can come. ZSU is trying to get that weekend off. GATOR hasn't said yay or nay, I think. And Sunday too-don't have to leave until about 4ish I'd say. I'd like to come up on Friday evening, just so I'm not so tired on Sat.-will discuss this later with you. I wouldn't worry about the scale, remember, you're exercising quite a bit lately and I'm sure you've lost fat and gained muscle in it's place-which weighs more.
DARAMUS, CONGRATS on this weeks loss!!! Weigh to go!
HAM, CONGRATS on your 2lb loss this week-you're doing great!!!!
ROSALIE, well, if I hear of anything else that may be good between now and then, I'll let you know. There's lots of other things to do in the Orlando area besides the theme parks. On International Drive there's a water park and a place my kids loved, can't remember the name (SOL?) it looks like an upside down building and it's all hands on things for the kids-and adults-we had a blast there too! Heck, don't worry about those little fluctuations, you know it's going to go downward in due time:)
SHEANN, CONGRATS on not only meeting your January Goal, but for being patient. I promise you, always be patient and you will be rewarded. It's too easy to throw in the towel when you see the scale going in the opposite direction, I know from experience. Many times I had gains, sometimes 6lbs in a few days time and I wan't cheating, I was eating perfectly, no reason to gain and I knew if I just stayed OP and was patient my patience would pay off and it always did!!!
BUSDEB, CONGRATS on this weeks loss of 2lbs-being 1lb away from your half way point must be very motivating. It's like climbing to the top of the summit and then finally being able to climb down!!!
ZANNE, CONGRATS on your loss this week. Anything that takes you closer to your goal is good, even if you don't make it to your goal. At least you're headed in the right direction, right?
JMUIR, CONGRATS on your loss this week as well! So you're a shoe nut, huh? Well, maybe by the time you lose that 15lbs, the sale will be so incredibley good and worth waiting to buy some shoes.
PRAVDA, hope you feel better. Are you going anywhere on your vacation??
BETH, I bet you have lost-definitely need to get some gear that fits, sure don't want your pantaloons to fall down, do you? Hmm, as long as you don't get scale obsessed like moi, a scale could be good. Maybe you have a friend/family member who has one that you could run to and weigh once a week??
SEF, sorry the news wasn't good at the Dr.'s today-would it do any good to get a second opinion? I have to say, I do love your attitude-some people would just sit down and feel sorry for themselves, but not you-you seem to live your life to the fullest, and I truly admire you for that!!!;)
Time to go figure out what to throw out on the table and call dinner:s: Though I may not be allowed back in the kitchen, Eli says I have gas bad enough that I could smoke Bin Laden out of any cave he's in! LOL!
Please remember TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have an good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please try to post them tomorrow.
Have a great nite!

Good Evening Everyone!
Feeling a little bit better- but still not back to normal. Haven't really followed plan the last few days due to this stomach thing.
Regarding the Orlando get together. I will try and keep that weekend open. My husband will think I'm nuts. I can just hear him "You're going to meet people from the internet!!!!!!!!!!!" Night before last at the dinner table, I called him by the wrong name! I don't know why or how it happened,it just came out of my mouth. So all night he kept asking me, if I called Michael yet (thats what I called him, his name is Micky). Anyway----- are all you Orlando people skinny??????????? Because if you are, I'm not coming!
Deb/Rosalie: the name of the upside building is Wonder Works. We took my son there to see a magic show- it was cute. There is also a Ripley's Believe it or not museum. Can also take a day to see the beach (that's free).
Ok, good nite all- keep losing!

Hi all,
WOW what a great job everyone did this week, there are a lot if losers here!!!!! That is so super, makes you want to try hard and join you. I am not sure how I did this week. We got busy at work this morning and I didn't get to weigh in. Tomorrow I hope to have a chance to jump on the scale.
The day was bad, and tomorrow will be worse. I will be glad when Friday gets here, I am off call this weekend and plan on resting and just taking it easy, maybe I go swim some laps. This is my newest thing. I went and swam 1/2 mile on Sunday. Boy I know what is really tired after doing that.
I am starting to get the hang of this dating thing, I am making plans to meet this other guy I started writing to at Christmas. His work work taken him out of town and meeting, up till now wasn't possible. I just want to make sure that I don't get to hung up with just one right now. I want to take things real slow, I think it would scare the daylights out of me if I didn't take things slow.
Well, hopefully I will get a handle one this posting stuff, but I am so glad everyone is starting to feel better and the weight is dropping.
I will be in touch soon. Have a great THursday. Laurie

Just lurking before hopping off to bed. Gym was not sooo bad, at least I got in a pseudo-run on the elliptical trainer which wasn't 1/2 bad. Then the "metal lifting" as Mel calls it. Wish I had a weight lifting partner, think it would be great motivation.
Want so badly to sit and respond to each of you but must MAKE myself go to bed before 11:00 so I can't. PROMISE to catch up with all on Fri a.m. as has been my M.O. of late.
Have a happy Thursday everyone!

Just stopping by before we head out to work to say HOWDY and here's wishing we all have a wonderful day. It's Friday Eve, so let's get cracking on creating some fantastic weekends. I'm going to try much harder this weekend and keep focused. For some reason, I carry my angels with me during the week, but ditch you all come Friday night. Not very neighborly of me. Sorry. LOL
Almost forgot . . . WELCOME AMANDA!!!!! It's good to meet you. Thanks to Frog for posting your post here. We are glad you found this site. You're going to love it. Ask all the questions you want. We are here to help. Good luck!
Hope you all are well. Will talk to you tonight.
Take care.

Well I'm tired for some reason:dizzy: I don't know why, I've already completed the 5:30 AM walk!
I think I didn't sleep too well last night so that could have added to it!
Made the world famous Deb's cheese cake last night and it's waiting for me to try it today at lunch! I finally got a small container of agave. I'm still looking fo it though. Frankferd farms never responded to my email.
Well better get to work everyone have a great day!

Good morning everyone! I'm very tired this morning :( I got up at least 3 times last night, and I'm feeling it this morning. I think a good portion of my weight was put on in the middle of the night over the past couple years. I don't know why, but I have slept through the night about a total of only 12 times in the past 2 years! I can't even remember the last time I had 8 hour of uniterrupted sleep. A "good" night is one in which I get up only once. Since i've been on SB, I have managed to stop the "night eating," but for some reason last night I decided to eat a bowl of cereal (kashi). I was genuinely hungry so I decided to go ahead and eat. Anyway, I'm going to make some coffee so I can wake up. :)

Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:
Got in from my jog/walk already-had my third best time yet, 44:56-not too shabby with it being hot, humid and a bit windy out there today!
I was looking back on my jogging and when I started trying to get in small spurts of jogging back in May (adn thinking I was dying in trying!). Having the WC Program, I can easily look back in the entries I made and was quite surprised to see just how far I have come. It means a lot when, even as a kid in Elementary School, I couldn't run when we had to for PE and to see where I was just 8 months ago to where I am today, for me, seems unbelievable. Thought I'd just share some of my entries with you all-hope I'm not boring you!:D
May 10, 2001-Did 4.5 miles today, 1 mile jogged, broken down in 5 spurts. Did it all in 58 1/2 minutes.
May 14, 01-Jogged longer than ever before. Did 4.5 miles in 57.15-not too bad
May 21, 01-Did 4.5 miles this morning with 11 short bursts of jogging, time was 56.15, my best yet.
June 8, 01-NEW BEST TIME-Best walk/jog time yet for 4.5 miles, 53:08!
June 27,01-NEW NEW NEW BEST WALK/JOG TIME!!! Did 4.5 miles in 52:01!!!! WOW, that's really unbelievable! I beat my other best time by 1 minute 7 seconds!! WOO HOO!
July 16-01-NEW BEST WALK/JOG TIME!!! Can't believe it, that I beat yesterdays best time by over 1/2 a minute! I did the 4.5 miles with 17 jogs in 50:56-awesome!!!!
July 31,01-BEST WALK/JOG EVER! I can't believe I was able to beat my best time before this! It's OVER 1 1/2 minutes BETTER than my last best time! I did 18 jogs in a time of 49:21! Right under an 11 minute mile!
Oct 3, 01-NEW BEST WALK/JOG TIME EVER! 48:59 and even got in a 1 mile jog!!!!
Oct, 23,01-NEW BEST WALK/JOG TIME!!!! Was running late getting back from taking Michael to school, Eli left early and I had to get in my walk fast, or make it short. I did my 17 jogs, some combined lengths, in 48:31, 28 seconds better than my previous best time!
Oct 28, 01-NEW BEST WALK/JOG TIME!!!! Umbelievable-I did it in 47:27, over a minute faster than my previous best time last week :
Nov. 25, 01-NEW BEST WALK/JOG TIME! 46:23 which beats my previous best time by 1 min 4 seconds!!!!!
Dec. 26, 01-New best jog/walk time: 46:13
Jan. 07, 01-Best walk/jog time ever, 44:20, almost 2 minutes less than my previous best time!
******
I am up 2lbs from yesterday. Though I know I ate way to much in all departments I know it would not cause me to gain 2lbs overnight, I think I owe this to hormones and being the fact it's day 14 of my cycle-hoping to see it go down next week as it usually does. At least I'm not feeling like I did yesterday, wanting to eat everything in sight and nothing filling me up.
Found a delicious bread yesterday at the HFS. It's made by a bakery up in (where else) BROWARD called GERMAN BREAD HAUS. I've seen other types of their breads, but first time I saw this one. It's called COUNTRY POWER and is a WHOLE GRAIN RYE BREAD Ingred. are SG Organic Whole Grain Rye, Orangine Wheat Flour, Oat Bran, Water, Vinegar, Spices, Liquid Aminos and Kosher Salt. A 1.3oz slice is onlu 75 calories and has 3 grams fiber-delicious! I'm going to call and see if they have a regular place open to the public next time we go up that way on. They even have printed on the back that the grains are milled daily on the premises! Cool!
HAPPY, tell DH that you aren't nuts, that you are meeting a group of friends in person, you already know them on the board! Any time I've gotten together with either 1 person, or a group from the board, it's been like seeing someone I haven't seen in a long time, not ackward as meeting someone you don't know at all. Ask any of the gals that met earlier this month and they'll all say the same thing. All skinny, LOL! Don't we wish! Besides, who cares, we aren't wanting to meet each other to see who has the most to lose, it's really just a way to connect to each other that much more and solidify the on-line/board friendships that we've already been able to establish. Trust me, when you come, you'll feel like you have belonged forever! Thanks for the name of the bldg, I had a blast there-in front of those carnival mirrors, I was in stitches!!! LOL!!
LAMAP, good going on the swimming! That's great that you are exploring all the options you have when it comes to men. I think, with age and experience, you can easily take your time and be selective, choosey, discreet, etc. It's not like we were when we were younger, I think with maturity comes lots more options. Have fun and enjoy yourself-if Mr. Right comes along, you'll know it!
FROG, thanks for posting AMADA'S post on this board:)
AMADA, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! :D I'm sure you will find the support you are looking for here-as we all have. The gals are great and more than willing to help answer any questions you may have-so don't be shy. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, it's always nice to learn more about our current board members!
QUILTER, okay, stick me on your arse instead of your shoulder this weekend, I can kick you when you get out of line! I just think weekends are probably harder for most because they aren't kept busy as they are at work, and being home, with access to the fridge wrecks havoc with some people-the change in the 5 day routine just turns some into feeding machines. Do your best and that's all you can do;)
NASCAR, CONGRATS on your loss and for keeping up with the walking. Let me know how you like the cheesecake! Remember, you can get the agave from the guy down here, but once again, it's the shipping that's costly-finding it locally is definitely better. How'd you find the one bottle??
DARAMUS, hope you can conquer your sleeping problem, not good when you can't sleep-I'd be miserable-and *****y to boot!
Well, I'm going to go, for now. I'll be back on later to post a few recipes. I have so many, it's hard for me to decide which to post. I try to post ones I've already tried, but since you all know how much I "love" cooking;) sometimes that's hard. I'll see what I can find between now and then.
Have a wonderful day!

Well, I'm down a pound. :) but since last week I was up a pound, I'm even!!! LOL
SlapHappy--No, we definitely are not svelte down here in Orlando. Debbie is, but she has been on SB for a while, and you can get inspiration from her when you see what SB accomplished. So you can feel very safe in coming. Furthermore, we don't judge anyone, but just give support. We are in person like we are on the board.
My husband was kinda like your husband, wondering if I was crazy meeting some people I had just "met" on the internet. Only kooks do that, right? Anyway, after our first meeting, he actually joined right in, and went out with our group to dinner. He had a very good time, and was able to meet some people with whom he had other interests in common. And my husband is very conservative! So your husband might just give it a try, and join the crowd.
Re. whether I will be able to come on that weekend, someone needs to give me the dates again. Somehow I missed out on all the plans and am in left field about it. We are going to Cuba for 6 days coming up this spring, and I have also accepted the responsibility to speak at a conference this spring, for which there will be several planning meetings. So I'm starting to get maxxed out. Hopefully I can fit it in.
As far as other things to do in Central Florida, it depends on what you like to do. If you pretty much just like the touristy (fill in the blank)-World park type of thing, anything down on International Drive, Disney, MGM, Planet Hollywood, etc., etc. is available. You can spend weeks visiting all those parks. I think Sea World (another World!) is one of the best because it comes the closest to being real. You've got real animals, and you can get close enough to some of them to touch them. But, of course, we don't have too many penguins or walruses here in Florida otherwise. And I don't have a dolphin leaping in my backyard fishpond! LOL With all the attractions in that International Drive-Disney area, you can see why Orlando is a big tourist center.
If you need to come up for air and get away for some more sedate and quiet R & R, the little village of Winter Park is quaint with its cute shoppes, brick streets, central park and good restaurants. There also are guides who will take you on a fishing trip in one of the many big lakes around here. There are bike trails, and even a winery to visit. With your grandchildren, though, Rosalie, I think you probably will be 100% in the park scene.
Gotta go. I did well on my French test last night. I still haven't heard back from the person from Uganda. Catlover I am taking a golf lesson tomorrow. I'm not sure what it will be on. I need help in several areas. Today is just for housework, laundry, some studying, and cooking a good dinner.

Hello Everyone!
WELCOME AMANDA!!!
I am stuck inside for a while. We had an ice storm last night and are supposed to have another tonight with snow on top of that. At least I am one of the lucky ones that still have power. So today, I am going to plan my meals and snacks for next week. Maybe if I plan everything, I will do better in eating the amounts of veggies, fruits, protein, etc that I'm supposed to eat. In the past I have just been waiting until the time came and finding something.
Debbie: Thanks for posting your information on your walk/jogs. You should be very proud. It just shows how far you have come. Soon, you'll be jogging half of the 4.5 miles. I saw your pictures on the Photo Board. At your heaviest, is that when you started on SB? I look at your progress (I think we were about the same weight, unless I'm thinking of someone else) and it helps me to know that I can do it too. Also, seeing Filiese and Lamap and Melf and everyone else that has done so well. You are all a real inspiration. Thanks again for your help and support.
Daramus: Sorry to hear about your interrupted nights. I know how you feel. I'm up 5 or 6 times a night. Not eating, but up and down anyway. I do have to say, that since I have been on SB this past 3 weeks, I have slept better and not had to get up quite so often. Hope things get better for you and you start getting a great nights sleep.
Well, I'm going to plan next weeks meals. Everyone take care.

I still did not make it to the gymn last nite. Dh didnt get back from church until almost 9p. So, I just ate dinner and went to bed.
Well, I guess that is enough for now.

Well, I found out about the e-mailer from Uganda. Her name is Fiona, and she like to eat traditional dishes, such as bean stew with bananas. She also eats normal food (normal to us) such as fried chicken, tea, toast and sandwiches.
Anyway, she got my name off of the French language website, and I believe she got it inadvertantly, thinking she was posting something on a discussion board. I gave her detailed info on how to get to the spots she would probably want, and hope that she can navigate to the correct URL. I got the idea that she was not very computer comfortable at all.
Might be interesting to correspond with someone from Uganda, but I just don't have the time. If anyone is interested in an African pen pal, I'll send you the e-mail address.

hi everybody,
have had a good week, staying sb legal has not been too much of a problem. i find that planning is the key. one of the doc's bought pizza the other day and for once i did not feel deprived. i had a nice salad and a sandwich, then for dinner that nite i got my heavens bistro pizza, i find that some days i do eat more carbs than i should but at least i am legal.
the girls at work are really into the walking and doing some of these mini walks around the county, i guess i will drag out my ortho knee brace and catch up! i may not be ready for the wdw but after the fun we had last january i will definitely be in orlando to cheer the rest on!
zsu is off the weekend in march for the get together in orlando, so i hope she will drive over with me, if not deb can i stick out my thumb on I-95 and hitch a ride? it will be fun to see everyone again. slaphappy my husband too wondered about my going to meet people "from the internet" but as i walked into sonya's house i knew these women were my friends and that i had known them for a long time. the support and caring from this board is what helps me on a day to day basis meet the challenges of eating legal. i may not post everyday but knowing you guys are out there really helps me stay on track!
i am off tomorrow, will be going to orlando to bring the big guy home for the weekend. he wants to see his little sis play basketball sat. morning. or the real reason is he needs money or
has a slew of laundry!
hope everybody is feeling better, weather here is beautiful 78 degrees with a nice breeze, perfect florida weather.

Hello strangers! Been MIA for a couple of days, but am trying to catch up.
Well, I got the dreaded phone call (I really, REALLY wanted the blue card). The pap is showing moderate dysplasia. The nurse is having me come in for one of those “long visit” consultations. I had told the doc when I went in last week that if anything showed up that could possibility lead to really bad stuff, that I preferred that it all be removed. I have been waiting to see how this turned out before scheduling a tubal anyway. I had 2 major “female” operations when I was younger, so I’ve had my share of problems. Those organs have served their purpose and now I just don’t need them anymore. I have 2 beautiful boys that really need their mommy and I’m not willing to take any chances, whatsoever! The nurse said that the Dr. told her to tell me specifically that he wanted to discuss a hysterectomy. I think he was relaying to me that he was willing to go along with my expressed wishes. He seemed to think I was being drastic when I was in the office, now it seems he has changed his tune… we’ll see – I go in on the 12th unless he has a cancellation for a “long visit” before then.
Really wanted to respond personally to everyone, but time doesn’t permit. I worked a 16-hr. day yesterday because of a huge project that had to be completed and I’m exhausted! Gotta run for now.

Hey All:wave:
Thought I'd get in a post long before Eli was due home.
Finally got the YEAR 2000 RECIPE BOARD put together. All the recipes from our first year are on there. It's not a full year since we didn't start a recipe board until May, but it's there! Now, instead of having to bring up 7 months of boards, I have just one. When I get some time I'll do the same for our 2001 recipe boards. Just wondering if I should do it in two parts, first 6 months and the following 6 months-or just do one board for the entire 2001 year-ANY THOUGHTS??
Was able get a few recipes posted on the recipe board today:)
GATOR, thanks for the skinny plug-wish I felt like I was deserving of it. Getting together on the 9th for sure, which is a Sat., though I'm planning on staying until Sunday. Cuba, does that mean you are coming to Miami? That's what we tend to call Miami these days. Hey, it's 90 miles closer than the real Cuba. What the heck are you going to do there?
SHEANN, ice, cold-what's that? We're dying down here-send some cool weather our way PALEEESE!!! Our newest member AMADA is also from MICHIGAN I see-are you close by each other? Actually, I jog probably 4 out of the 4.5 miles I end up doing:D Sure didn't start out that way. I'd start jogging and get maybe 20 feet before I thought I was going to faint. Each day I got a little farther. Never thought I'd be doing what I am doing today. My "fat pic" was taken almost 18 years ago, right before I got my stomach stapled and weighed in at a weight of 284lbs:eek: I don't have any picture of myself when I started SB at 194-I thought I'd just be screwing up again. If I took a picture each time I started a diet in the past I'd have more than a photo album or two packed! I went to 2 affairs at the beginning of my SB ODYSSEY and would love to try and get a copy of either picture-will try. I do have a picture taken early June 2000 and what a difference I see between then and now. I don't see it much in the mirror, but pictures speak volumes to me.
PRAVDA, I hope you have a good vacation and take some time for yourself to relax and maybe get into somewhat more of a routine that you can enjoy and look forward to. Have a good time at your DS's party!!!
BIGK, congrats on resisting the pizza the Dr.'s got. With once owning a pizzeria it amazes me that I don't crave it. I guess with being able to have a pita pizza when I want it helps. People can't believe I haven't eaten pizza since I started SB, knowing how I use to eat it before. That's great ZSU is off that weekend in March-of course, if you end up needing a ride up you let me know, though I am going to try and get up there on a Friday evening-leaving as early as we did on Saturday to get up there was tiring:yawn: Have a good trip to get your son tomorrow, enjoy him while he's home!
TV, boy, it sounds like you have some decisions to make. I'm sure you've pondered all the information and will make the choice that suits you well. I think your way of thinking is good and it seems that your Dr may have realized that. Whatever the decisions are that you make, please know we are here for you in any way and are ready to help any way we can;) Your boys are very lucky to have such a level-headed Mom!
Well, that's about it for me, for now at least. You know I'm never at a loss of words;) I'll probably hit the hay again early, will watch THE PRICE IS RIGHT special and then go to bed. I have a busy morning tomorrow and may not get on til afternoon. I'm volunteering for an event for the 11th graders who are having a picnic at one of the families homes that live in what's called HORSE COUNTRY and I got 125 subs to p/u at Subway in the morning (even got those donated!), so if I don't get on in the morning, I surely will in the afternoon.
Have a great evening!

Hey All,
I have to say I feel so good since I finally got my act together. I just can't figure out what took me so long. I must say chocolate of any form will never cross my lips again. That is what started the whole thing and once I started I couldn't stop. I know now that I have a terrible addiction and I just can not handle even a bite. Thank you all for the encouragement .
DEB......at a loss for words......WHEN **** FREEZES OVER. I am out of agave syrup. If you or anyone else knows of some places to order on the net ......please let me know. Thanks
TV........I am glad you finally found out where the problem lies. I think the decision you have made will be a good one for you. I love life a lot better since I had my hystorectomy. I am a much better person to live with also. It will probably help a lot with your mood swings. I thought I heard someone mention a new job for you ......did you change jobs?
Big K......wtg girl for staying on plan. I would think that being in an office like that with other ppl eating whatever would make things difficult...so I am so proud of you. They will be jealous as you continue to drop those pds.
Pravda......enjoy your vacation and wish your ds a happy birthday from the SB gals.
Sheann......I am with Deb....send some cooler temps down this way. It has seemed like spring all week and as much as I love it I know we are in for some bad stuff when this happens. I predict a snow or ice storm for sometime in Feb....just hope it is not the last weekend as we are heading to Gatlinburg then.
Gatorgal....congrats on lossing the pound you picked up.
Daramas......I can not sympathize with you about lost sleep....when I finally hit the hay.....I sleep all night long until my 5am alarm goes off. I think it has something to do with the country air we have here. Also working at the barn ....all the pysical labor helps too. I am proud of you for sticking with us. Keep up the good work ......you will enjoy the results.
Frog......good to see you. If I was there I volunteer for a wieght lift partner. I need one too!!
To all others hello and I will see ya later. I am going out with the girls tonight ....so it will be a fun night for me.
Smiles,
Debbie :)

Would love to respond individually, but I just don't have the time today. I feel like I'm always up to the ears with things to do that just can't be put off, so I scanned the board real quick.
Looks like WIW wasn't too bad for most. Congrats to all the losers. Those of you that stayed the same or gained, have faith & continue to put out the effort to do this WOE & it will happen.
I was back at 135 yesterday & today, so can't claim that new low any longer, but I WILL persist. Seems like yesterday was a day of cravings. Guess I ate something I shouldn't have. :?: Anyway, there was no time to eat much of anything today, so I'm heading for the kitchen before DH gets home.
BOB , I'm gone cook some chicken! Your favorite!
MEL , looks like you'll catch up with me soon! WTG!
Debelli , You're so sweet to put all those recipes onto one board! I think that will really make it nice when we go to retrieve a recipe, that we don't have to go from one board to another! I haven't forgotten that you asked for the Chocolate Cheese Cake recipe I mentioned aroung the holidays. Will try to post it after supper tonight. I made some Bobaganose yesterday. I LOVE that stuff!
Later ya'll,

Once you know them....you're hooked!! ;)
I'm back on track I think..I'm not telling nothin until I see everyone in March...SO...come on...
DEB...you and DARAMUS should have called each other last night...Since both of you were already up!
Where are you going on you GIRLS NIGHT OUT???
ROSALIE...no doubt in my mind that you will find something to do in Otown...Didn't get to the gym today, kinda feel a little guilty!

I talked to Allison today and we've narrowed down the beach house to one of 2 weekends, I'll know for sure NLT Saturday. Looks like we have a reservation for 10-13 (Thurs-Sat) or the following weekend 17-20. We will have to take the one we are given, so hope that both will work out for most. My bet is on the 10-13. The rate for the house is $150.00 per night which will be divided among attendees. There is also a MINIMAL amount of check-out cleaning that we'll need to do, no big deal though. Allison will also be joining us for the weekend. Y'all will enjoy her!
The house is in Atlantic Beach, NC and additonal plans for payment and "reservations" with me will be forthcoming, as will some other ideas DEB and I have been talking about for the weekend.
Now, I said "LADIES" and I do mean LADIES. Sorry gentleman (ah hem... Daramus - I think you're our only male at the time) this is a Ladies's retreat only. Hope you understand. We'll have to plan a mixed company get together some other time. :)
Please don't hestitate to send me any ideas or questions. More tomorrow!
Peace,
FROG

Hi everyone
Well winter has finally arrived here. We've had about 6 inches of snow and the temp is down to about 18F. I was out shovelling the driveway and cleaning off the car this morning about half hour before I had to go out to the dentist and by the time I was ready to leave everything was covered again. At least I was able to clear the windshield with the wipers this time and didn't do anymore shovelling. Hope ds will finish it off when he gets home tonite.
Been a bit of a picky eater to-day, mainly because I was starving at lunch time but had to wait for the freezing to wear off as I didn't want to find any teeth marks in my tongue later. Consequently eaten more carbs than I should have but at least they have all been legal.
I'm having a really lazy day to-day. Played several games of badminton last evening and was pooped when I got home - but it was fun. But this morning I was feeling very tired - it didn't help that I was woken up with a phone call asking me to go in to work. Anyway apart from shovelling and going out to the dentist I have had a relaxing, sleepy, day.
Tv - Sorry to hear that the news at the doctors wasn't so good. But at least you can have it dealt with and hopefully prevent any further complications. I have a friend who had a positive pap test many years ago and she had a hysterectomy and has been fine since then.
Sef - I hope they can find out what is causing the neuropathy and get you some treatment for it. I am amazed that you can stay so positive and do so much when you have so many aches and pains to put up with.
Quilter - That's a beautiful pic of you and hubby. Glad you are feeling better and hope you have had a better eating day.
Slaphappy - I'm sure my dh would have thought the same as yours about meeting people from the internet (he passed away a year ago). Now I am coming with the grandkids I'll have to let them think I am meeting old friends and not people I have met through the internet as they are always being warned about the dangers lurking on the 'net. They might think if grandma can do it why can't they  (I do consider you all friends but I am sure you know what I am trying to say.)
Amanda - Welcome to the board.
Daramus- Sorry to hear about your sleepless nights. I have quite a few myself so can sympathize with you. Hopefully when you are established eating the sb way things will improve for you.
Deb - It's wonderful how your times for walking/jogging have improved. I can remember you saying about a year ago that you will NEVER jog and now you are thinking about the 1/2 marathon. :spinning:
Gator - Thanks for all the info about things to do in Orlando. I was never one to be interested in theme parks but as I am bringing the kids I guess I will be accompanying them, with their Mom of course. I would like to try and get to Seaworld as well if there is time. Someone I work with was there last year and was raving about it, saying how good it was. Another place that has been recommended to me is Universal Studios. Who knows what we will have time for. We will only be staying for 7 nights, which gives us 6 whole days, so I can see it will be a busy week. May have to come back for a second visit. We plan to arrive on the evening of Friday 8th March, and I hope to meet up with Deb and Sol and BKM and Zsu and anyone else who can make it on the Saturday, 9th March. My kids can look after themselves that day and give Mom/Grandma a day off :D. Hope you can make it.
Gotta go. Been here long enough. I started this before supper but had to stop to cook the rice. Planned on having brown rice but didn't have time to cook it before the other stuff was ready so had to settle for white basmati. This happens quite often .
Bye for now.
Marie.

Well, I told you I’d report about the lunch speaker today. First of all, the most important thing is this: THERE WAS CHEESECAKE AT EACH PLACE SETTING AND I DID NOT EAT MINE (OR ANYBODY ELSE’S FOR THAT MATTER)!!!! That made me so excited. It wasn’t like I was trying to make a point with anybody I was with, I just thought, “Kim, you don’t really want that. You are sufficiently full from lunch. So STOP!!!” Besides lunch was a yummy vegetariant lasagna and I’m willing to be the pasta was not WW. So I figured I’d “sinned” enough with that.
Now on to the speaker. His name was Dr. Douglas J. Markham and his book/program is called Total Health, Beyond the Zone. He said he advocated a high protein, favorable carbohydrate way of eating. He said a lot of things I agree with. Food is a drug and we can become addicted to certain things. He also said that fats don’t make you fat. I bought the book mainly out of curiosity (and whenever the author is around, I will always buy the book to get it signed) and with the book comes one month free access to the membership of the online program. That’s where he give you menu ideas and recipes and all the real “meat” of the program. I haven’t had time to look at it yet. The site is www.totalhealthdoc.com. If anybody is interested in checking it out. I think I heard him say to limit carbs to about 40 g per day. That seems awfully low to me. I think when my MIL (who is the low carb queen) started, she was giving herself 75-90 carbs a day. I figure, even if I don’t agree with everything he says, it’s keeping me focused on my health and eating right. Plus I might find some good recipes. He had tons (pardon the pun!) of before and after pictures.
So that’s about enough of that.
DEB---Thanks for sharing your walk/jog log. That was truly inspiring. I remember the very first day you said you did some jogs. I was jogging a bit on the treadmill at that same time. You kept going and you are reaping the benefits. I stopped and went to weight-gain ****. Now I’m kicking myself for neglecting my TM. I’m proud of you. Keep going. Can I tag along behind you??? Sure I’ll carry you with me all weekend. It may get ugly. And I’ll probably have a huge bruise on my hiney in the shape of your shoe!!! But I will try to get through in one piece. Hey, do you think Eli was dancing in his dreams??? Could be. You haven’t been watching Saturday Night Fever or reruns of American Bandstand have you?
SHEANN---My teeth are chattering for you. Ice and more ice and then to top it off snow??? I hope you are well stocked with staples. Be safe if you do have to get out on the roads. Otherwise, just relax under a heavy blanket and find a good book.
BKM---congrats on staying strong against the pizza. You were so smart to have something legal with you. How was the heaven’s bistro? Yummy, I hope.
BOB---Missed you at chat on tuesday. Not one person talked about a thong. Hmmmmm. Glad to hear you are hitting the gym. Are you becoming a regular? When you walk in the door, does everybody stop and yell, “BOB!”? Good for you for being so disciplines. Do you go straight there from work or do you go home first and then go back out to the gym? I have difficulty leaving the house once I get in after work. I just love to stay here. Is this working out with your schedule or did you have to sacrifice any activity to make time for the gym? Also, I forgot to watch the pet psychic. How was it? Did you believe it? Was she believeable?
TV---So sorry to hear about your report from the doctor. I’m sending good thoughts and prayers your way. You have such a good attitude about your decision and what’s the right thing for you. That’s great!!! Just keep your mnd focused on you and your family and the doctor will have to see your side of it. I hope it’s a short and sweet procedure with a minimal recovery period. Good luck!!! Hey, I liked the image you posted of the guy putting his head into his monitor. Haven’t we all felt that way before?
BUS---Sounds like you are planted firmly back up on that wagon. Good for you. I can so relate with what you said about how the chocolate can make you forget your good senses. It certainly has made me kind of wacked out in the past. And once I start with the illegal stuff, it’s so hard to stop.
Okay, everybody, have a good night. My eyelids are starting to droop. Oh no, it’s going to be one of those evenings. Better go get my jammies on now. Talk to you later.
Take care.

Happy Thursday Ladies and Gents :)
I never remember who asks what, so I can't respond personally... but:
YES the department buys the gear! (Thank Gawd... cause I plan to make them shop till they drop for the next few months!!!)
I found out that Carbolite = ExLax. Next week is my TOM so that means this week = PMS... So I ate 4 little squares of the Dark Chocolate Carbolite trying to make myself easier to live with... and It worked... I can't b*$ch at anyone in my house unless I do it from the BATHROOM. Guess what Beth can't eat!
(Never thought I'd look forward to TOM, glad I don't have a scale cause this week and next I'll be up from it.. I'd hate obsess. And I would  )
Made some cheese dip last nite and ate it with triscuits... I know I ate too many, but I was proud of passing up the bag of chips for triscuits! I've made all legal food choices since I started SB, and I'm so proud of that. Even if my portions aren't "with it" right now, that will come as I learn to live without the junk I've been feeding myself.
I'm still off caffiene, but haven't been drinking as much as I should. I need to get on the water wagon, but I'm only up to about 40 oz of it a day... not nearly enough. Especially since I don't really drink much of anything else... maybe 10 oz of tea. I know I need to work on it though, and that's half the battle.
I have stuck with this WOE like I have never stuck with anything before. I'm really proud of myself, and DH is proud of me too. He keeps saying so!! He even asked me if I could fix dinners that are all SB legal, so that even though he isn't cutting OUT carbs, it would cut down on them for him. (He drinks about 6 colas a day!!! but he has the metabolism to die for... skinny brat..lol)
Oh... he's 6'2 so he wears 200 pounds VERY well since he's a Firefighter too... but it's the FIRST time since we started dating that I've ever weighed LESS than him!!!!! When we met he was only 17 and was about 130... and I was 145... and we've gained together, so I've never weighed less than him!!!!! UNTIL NOW!
This is the least I've weighed in 6 years!!!!! Gosh I feel so good.
I have so much energy lately. I figured ditching the caffiene would lower my metabolism and make me more tired, but NOT AT ALL!! I've even started back my walking. I used to do 2 miles a day, and quit about 6 months ago when my walking buddy quit. But I've started back and I'm doing a mile now, I'll be back to 2 miles by next week!
Sorry to ramble... part of my new energy is even WORSE blabbermouthitis. Which I had in abundance before! :D
Thanks for all the support everyone... and all my best wishes and support are there for all of you who are working just as hard as me!!!!! Our goals are achievable!!!!

HEY FROGGIE!!!!!
ELI IS ONE OF THE GIRLS.....CAN'T HE COME EITHER???? :?:
KIMMY....I FORGOT TOO!!! That should tell us both something...
No, I would probably fall over if they all yelled BOB!! like you all do when I hit the chat room!
I do come home first...the only reason I get on back out the door is that I meet someone there...we split up once we've warmed up, but we're both there for each other...Y'all need to pat her on the back for getting my big old tired ARSE there
BETH ....have you had any trouble stopping the caffeine? I'm addicted BIG TIME to STARBUCKS COFFEE ..not only do I love it, but I've padded ELI's retirement fund like you wouldn't believe!
OK...CSI is about to come on...gotta go...

Pravda--I sent you an e-mail with all the pertinant information about the woman from Uganda, including a copy of the e-mail I received from her, plus her e-mail address. However, it was returned because the e-mail address wasn’t right. I used the one you posted on the bio board. Can you go to page 3 of the bio board and get my e-mail address and send me your correct e-mail address and I will send you the information. Tnx.
Debbie--LOL, no, we are going to the island! I must say that we in Orlando also think of Miami as “Cuba”, and somehow that city does not have the allure it once did. We have helped fund some churches to be built in Cuba, and we are travelling there to see them, plus some others. We will probably see about 15 churches in all, that is, not just the building, but the pastors and the people that meet in the buildings.
We had the greatest dinner tonight. I kinda made up a recipe. We had a lovely tossed salad with non fat cottage cheese in it, along with fresh orange slices. Then I sautéed some onions and red bell pepper and garlic slowly, caramelizing them. Added some chopped tomatoes and curry powder, and finally some fresh shrimp. Cooked till the shrimp were just done. Yum. Nice light meal.
Have a great evening everyone.

This board sure is hoppin lately!
My bathing suit blues and raging PMS sent me into a tailspin and I ate everying in the kitchen except the pots and pans. Luckily, it was all SB legal, but sure not BFL:mad: . So today I felt like nauseated slug, and will hopefully remember that next time. The weird thing is I was brain dead at work, but then played the best tennis I have in 6 months, then did a super weight workout. Go figure. Maybe that's what they mean that you have to shock your body every once in a while.
Anybody up for another Florida get-together? I just made air reservations for 3/24-28, unfortunately not a weekend. I'll be staying with my brother and his family in Plantation, just on the SW edge of Ft. Lauderdale. Deb- isn't that pretty close to you? Very short visit, but that's all the cheapy airline tickets allow for! I'm really excited, I haven't seen my now 1 year old niece since last July. I'll really have to stay OP on BOTH plans so I can actually find and wear a bathing suit. Ds insists we are spending every waking moment at the beach, and only he and I are going....my excitement just dropped a notch.
Beth- Your post left me breathless just reading it! Glad the dept. buys your togs, your going great girl! Just try to get more water in you, that really helps.
Frog- what month are we talking about, October or November? I think both were mentioned at one point.
Quilter- Good going on ignoring that cheesecake or at least only staring at it. Lowering carbs to less than 40 a day?? Does that mean all carbs, or just starchy? I'd be exhausted on that. I think the fruit and vegie carbs are really important. Did you get hit with the big midwest storm too or is that all further north? I've been trying to get a hold of dd in Columbus (at OSU) but she's not answering her cell phone so I don't know if Ohio got hit too.
TV- Sorry to hear you didn't get the little blue card we were all pulling for. Your attitude sounds so good. Your health and being able to take care of your family are the most important things. Laproscopic hysterectomies aren't supposed to be too physically traumatic. I haven't had one, but have had lap. surgery twice for endometriosis, and the recovery time sure beats the old way. My thoughts are with you.
Sheann- Are you encased in ice? Where in Michigan are you? I spent 2 very cold years in East Lansing, and 1 even colder one in the Soo. It was so cold there that the dashboard of my brand new Toyota Corolla cracked!
gotta go, hi:wave: to everybody I've missed ( a list that gets longer daily!)

Today was a good day. The rain stopped about noon here and the wind was blowing cold out of the north. The weirdest thing was yesterday when this cold front moved thru. It stalled right about downtown Dallas and we are about 20 miles east of downtown and had a temp. of 77 when downtown was 48. Today it's cold everywhere.
Deb: I've been OP about 98% of the time. I think the lack of exercise is my biggest reason I've stalled. I was able to get in 30 minutes on the bike today and am trying to do better at putting down my food intake at fitday. I have to say that people are beginning to comment on my weight loss. That helps to keep this stall from driving me too nuts.
TV: So sorry about your test results. Hope you have a positive outcome with this health situation.
Sef: Ditto for you! I'd love to go for a visit to the "real" 'Nawlins with a hometown girl. There's some fantastic history there in the Quarter. Have a blast for me!
I'm like BOB tonight and CSI is really getting good. So I'll sign off and see all of you tomorrow night.
Take care,

Hi everyone!
Feeling much better. I had a surprise at work yesterday. I was selected as Employee of the Year! They had a big (I mean big) chocolate cake w/chocolate frosting and ice cream! They awarded me with 2 tickets to the theme park of my choice and $100.00 spending money! I had a very small piece of cake and brought home 3 pieces (which I can proudly say) I haven't touched :)!
I do have to tell you all, since we're all friends, and hopefully I will get to meet some of you. I have an addiction! It is to carbs. I can not control myself. If I taste it- forget it I go on a rampage. I did good today until tonite and there was this stinking pecan coffee cake staring at me and calling my name and guess what (unlike you guys with your resistance) I ate 2 pieces! Now I hate myself. I really do not know why I do this. It has to be a mental illness. Maybe I need xanax :dizzy: Oh well, tomorrow is another day. DH is sick with a cold (you know dying) so I have moved in to the spare bedroom. Nice and quiet in here. DH and I both smoke but not in the house and I am sitting here like a teenager with the window open sneaking a smoke and blowing smoke out the window! Last time I tried to quit smoking gained 10 lbs!! That will be my next journey!
well good nite to all. Sorry for my ramblings. I'll carry you all with me tomorrow!
See Ya

Hey Guys-
One more quick question I forgot to ask. Those of you who make pizza out of pita's. Do you split it open or leave it whole or stuff it? I've been meaning to ask that question for a week:blush:!
Thanks!

Hiyas...
BOB - (by the way, I must say I LOVE the name... my hubby was born and raised in Nashville and we're UT fans :) !! )
I had a headache for about 2 days when I stopped the caffiene.. and I quit cold turkey. I was drinking probably 5 of the 20 ounce Mountain Dew's EVERY DAY... and I just stopped cold. Sunday was ok, Monday was pretty bad, Tuesday I was the demon from hades.. and Wednesday morning I woke up a new person. It was not as bad as I thought. LOTS Of water helped me through it, unfortunately, without the headache to remind me, I haven't had as much water!
meliris - I'm glad my post came through as energetic as I feel!! Thanks for the support!! It means a lot and goes a long way to helping me stick to it!!!
I keep meaning to ask... and instead go off on some weird tangent...
I went to Wally World and was looking for the stuff to make Fajitas... I got a kit for the family, and was looking for the WW Tortillas for myself. I found them and upon reading labels found that they had 1 MORE carb gram than the regular. My guess is, that in my infinite need for MORE information than I seem to have at the time... that there was another word besides WW I'm supposed to be looking for. These were the MISSION tortillas.
Clue me in someone? I didn't eat any of them just in case.. I just ate the Guts ;)
All you lucky people with snow... no bragging!! Although, for the last 2 days it's been about 75 here with a nice cool breeze from the north!! Tonight we get the rain and it's back down in the 50's for us.. but I'm STILL going to walk!!!!!!!!!
Off to drink another bottle of water and take a shower... then off to bed :D

MEL---It hasn't been cold enough here during the last week for a snowflake to ever make it to the ground. Today it was in the 60's. But it has been really wet. Rain, rain, rain. I don't know what's happening in Columbus, But they are far enough north of us that they could have easily gotten some of the white stuff. Do you come visit DD in Columbus? I didn't know you had a baby buckeye in your midst! Maybe I see a SB visit . . . or at least a meal in the future!!! My crystal ball is a little fogged up due to the rain, but I definitely think I'm seeing something. LOL I hope your dd is okay and that if worse comes to worse, she can walk to classes.
Good night everybody else.

Just a quick note,
I have four days of meal plans on Fitday and have printed them out so that I don't go overboard.
Mel: I am in St. Joseph, Michigan on Lake Michigan about 35 minutes north of South Bend, Indiana. Fortunately, we did not get as much ice as Elkhart and Southbend but enough. As you can tell, I do have electrical power and no problem getting on-line.
Have a great day tomorrow!

28 DAYS TILL REGISTRATION FOR THE WDW MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON!!!!
35 DAYS TILL THE SB BABES HIT O-TOWN!!!
Good Friday Morning! I had my job review yesterday. They do reviews for the entire company in January and February, so even though I've only been here a couple of months I got reviewed. Of course it was glowing.... :smug: I know I work my booo-teeee off, but it's so nice to hear that others notice it.
Last night was the first night I walked this week. Between car problems and doing the work that belongs to the open position I have not been home in time to go. I seem to get cranking the last mile before I get home. The first 2 - 2.5 miles drag and are really hard, but by the time I get on that last curve for home I start crankin'. Tonight is my heavy metal night (is that what you call it MEL?) and tomorrow I'm going to go for 5.5 miles. That will add a whole extra mile to what I've been doing. I really feel like I'll be able to do it as long as my left foot holds up. I've been having problems with it hurting really bad across the ball of my foot. It's not the shoes, they're brand new and most of the time the foot doesn't hurt.
DEBBIE We fixed lamb and veggies from page 53 last night and the fatoosh (?) salad like we had from Hovan in the food court. I put the lamb in the oven to cook while I was walking. I think we'll use only a tad bit of water next time. Thanks for posting your entries from WC - that was really cool to see your progress - you'll be sprinting in the marathon come January! There is a condition called 'restless leg syndrome' that's real. I don't know much about it except that Vince says I have it. :o He claims when he's doing it he's just chasing bad guys and I should be glad that he's protecting us even in our sleep. Water Park is Wet n Wild - my favorite ride is the one where you everyone gets a wedgie who comes down it - watching people at the bottom, not riding it, mind you!
FROGGIE Vince has decided to walk the half with me instead of trying to train to run it. He would love to, but he does martial arts, weight training, running (but not for distance), SWAT training AND he's still looking for a racing bike he can afford. He's thinking that it would be too much on his plate and he could easily walk with me without having to alter his schedule any. Maybe I'll just make him sprint the last 3 miles so he'll be at the finish line waiting for me! ;)
QUILTER - WHAT A DOLL YOU ARE!!!! That picture is awesome!! You two look like sooooo much fun (of course, I already know that you are)! I can't wait to meet you one day so I can hug your neck for how wonderful you are and have been to me. WTG on passing up that cheesecake!! I'm gonna check out that guy's site - sounds like it was a good meeting - did the menu match what he was teaching, I wonder.....
FILLISE Holding steady is good - sometimes I think our bodies are breathing, just stopping to rest. I measured, but I hadn't been writing it down so I can't confirm any changes there, but after your post it wrote 'em down so next time I'll have something to go on. I do think less of my legs are rubbing together now - does that count? :^:
BETH - You also have a great picture on the board. I can totally picture you talking when I read your post. I, too, weigh more than my husband and always have. Vince is 5'10" or 5'11" and he would love to weigh 200 lbs, but, alas, he's 'stuck' at 185 or so. I'd LOVE to weigh 185! He's my very best friend and I've never been embarassed to share my weight with him, but it's because of how he handles having that information, I think. Some of it's because he saw my weight continuing to rise when he knew that I was doing everything I could to stop it - he saw what I was eating, he suffered through the cabbage soup diet with me, the WW points thing, the exercise all the time, etc. So when I went to the Dr. he went with me to vouch for my weight problem really being a problem.
SEF I hope the Dr. is able to help you with some kind of treatment. I know what you mean about taking pills. I absolutely hate 'em, but I probably take 6 pills a day between vitamins and such.
DARAMUS CONGRATULATIONS!! At my highest weight I was 220 and all I lived for was getting under 200. Now it's 185 - next it'll be 170 - then 155. I already have my mini-goals planned out and it's kind of exciting because I look forward to meeting my next goal so I can start working toward the next goal.... Of course, right now my focus is to get back down to 195 before MARIE gets too far ahead of me. My husband has rough weeks sometimes where he can't sleep. Are you hungry when you wake up or is it something to do since you're up? Maybe if you're hungry it's your body telling you that you aren't eating enough during the day. Many people who need to lose weight need to eat more because they are starving their bodies and they hold onto the weight because the body doesn't want to emaciate.
MARIE I'm sooo looking forward to meeting you in person!! In Kissimmee they have a place called "Old Town" that's supposed to be nice shopping - they have 'Ricky's Rocket' too, that's a seat attached to bungee cords high on a pole. They bring the seat down, tension-ing up the cords and then release the seat and you FLY very high up into the air, rotate around and FACE PLANT on your way back down, before you get too close to the ground it bounces back up and they let you bounce like that until it slackens up enough for them to pull it back down. Interested? :dizzy: Me either! The shopping area might be nice, I can look into it. Winter Park, that GATORGAL mentioned, is a nice brick streeted Park Avenue-type shopping area. They also have pontoon boat rides on the Chain of Lakes here around all these beautiful, huge, multi-million dollar homes. It's only about 5 bucks per person to ride on that tour. It would be a bit further drive from Kissimme, but it's nice.
LAMAP I just had to tell you that Vince and I were just friends for the longest time. I tried to set him up with several of my friends, but, kinda like "When Harry Met Sally" we would end up goofing off together the whole time. I'm glad you're out having fun. Men can be a blast to go do things with and it's so nice to be around the ones who treat you like a lady.
AMANDA WELCOME!! You're definitely at the right place for answers, support and comraderie!
NASCARGIRL Maybe try calling Frankferd Farms. I called and they are nice as can be and they ship the agave very quickly. I think maybe it's a mom and pop and they they aren't all that technological savvy. Are you counting down till DAYTONA???
 Have to get to work - I'll catch up with everyone else later. I'm going to post the recipe for TACO BELL'S TACO SEASONING before I really go, though. Have a great day everyone!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!
I thought it had only been a few days since I last posted, but can see I haven't been on the board all week long. GEEZ!!!! I've been on the go, go, go 24/7 lately. Full of energy (since I'm eating OP) and have been in such a creative mood....Wanting to cook, sew, and of course scrapbook!!!!
I had something soooooo cool happen! I went out to lunch with a friend of mine who is a Doctor and his girlfriend the other day...we started talking about sewing, and I said I was looking for a machine, and the Doctors girlfriend had one to GIVE ME, because she just got a brand-spankin' new digital one for X-mas!
I was THRILLED!!!!! Has a bunch of neat stitches it can do, button hole function, the whole nin yards.....FOR FREE!!!! SCORE!!!!
Went to "Lane Bryant" and got to face reality that I am a size 20:eek: Didn't end up buying anything...as usual, left depressed seeing myself in those mirrors and kept saying, please don't tell me I look that bad!!! UGH!!!
Deb: Loved the photos....Dan was busting up when he saw Eli in the kitchen making java!
Frog: Your haircut is sooooooo cute, fits perfect with you!
Sol: You have gone down girlfriend! I can tell from the last photos that were posted from awhile ago, and the Vincemeister is too cute! You two look so good together!
I want to chat ALOT MORE....but as usual need to get my butt in the shower!
P.S. I am planning on going to a scrapbooking convention in March
in Viva Las Vegas!!!! They are having a seminar on how to start your own business!!! I am so there!!!:D

Morning everyone!
I didn't get on the board at all yesterday--and it seems to have been busy. I won't get to respond to everyone today mostly because I feel like crap!
All day yesterday I felt a cold coming on and presto today here it is! Purring kitty in my lap helps, but I'm probably headed for a nap soon. Ick.
Of course the danger here is that when I don't feel good the temptation is to eat anything I want. So I need ALL the SB angels on my shoulder today--and bring your whips ladies and gentlemen! The good thing is that there is nothing in my house that is not SB legal. Of course I can always overeat on that--but that's not as bad as getting into the sugary--refined flour stuff. So If I don't leave the house today, I should be OK. As it is rainy and miserable and I don't have any outside appointments, I might be able to make it.
Frog--gosh the beach house sounds like so much fun, but October is out for me. I'll be with y'all in spirit though!
Sol--good on taking the measurments! I think having your thighs rubbing together less counts for a LOT! I was thrilled when I realized I could actually cross my legs for the first time!

Hi everybody. TGIF.:D Boy, I need it too. This has been the week from...well, you know where. And now I have a terrible headache. OK. I'm done whining now. I've done pretty well this week. A few slip ups along the way, but it hasn't caused any real setbacks. I just keep thinking of the pounds I might have lost if I hadn't messed up. Oh well, onward and upward. Congrats to all who lost this week. There were a lot of you. TOM is here and I'm Mrs. Bloat so I'm not even looking at the scales.:rolleyes:We have a bday party to go to tonight for one of Sarah's classmates at Pizza Hut. I'll hit the salad bar instead. Sorry I can't reply to y'all. I'll be lurking. Have a good weekend.

Hello! Here is my attempt to respond to all this week. Hope I don't miss anyone.
Have been to coffee with Allison today, who still hasn't heard from her DH's uncle, maybe this afternoon or in the morning.
Went to the gym and had a GREAT workout. Lots of weights and a mils aerobic workout. Felt good too!
Went to TJ Maxx this week and got a few goal clothes in a smaller size. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that they will all fit this Spring/Summer.
Gotta tell y'all a quick funny story about a kid we saw at work this week. He is of normal intelligence but has some moderately impaired social skills (he's 5). Anyway, his mom reported the most precious story! During the past 12 months he apparently called 911 when he couldn't find his Power Puff girls!
Had a revealation yesterday. I am no longer embarrassed to meet DH's old college buds or coworkers anymore. We met one while out at lunch and I told DH that I was glad about that.
Kitty update: She must be feeling better because when I got in from Chiro visit last evening the back door was open. I shouted "hello" to DH and he said, "We have a problem. Keep Dixie (dog) back there with you!" I thought, OMG what is going on! Then he said "Kitty has a mouse and the mouse is alive!" Then I could hear him running around in the bedroom. Next thing I know he comes through the kitchen with the live mouse trapped in my house shoe! I always feel bad whenever we have the need to put out a trap because I hate to kill something like that. I hope that mouse will run awau and find another place to play. DH said he didn't know if she caught the mouse inside, or brought it with her from outside!
DEB - Glad that Lauren was happy with her performance at the audition. Thanks for your work on the recipe board. WOO-HOO on the tape measure exercise! You sound like you are having a rough time with sleep lately. Hope you catch some Zzzzs this weekend if you still need them. New pics for us yet? :D BTW - a trip to the bathroom took 4/10s of those pounds away. You have really made some great progress with your running! Keep it up chick!
MELF - WOW! You're face shows MANY changes in your overall appearance. Good for you!
SEF - Is your booty better? Sorry that your trip to NO got nixed. Sounds like the fog was very thick!! Sorry to hear that your trip to the doctor didn't bring the news you were hoping for.
Big Knights Mama - The scale moved, SUPER! Also great that the sugars are down too! No GS cookies! Cookies in green boxes are bad! ;)
MEL - Thanks for the BFL info. Think I may check out the book at the store this weekend. Bathing suits! UGH! You are brave. I bought 2 2-pcs at the end of last year for $10.00 each and have them as goal suits for this year. They are the bare you belly kind and I don't think that I will be in them by first beach trip at the end of April, but I'd sure like to be! That's one of the reasons I asked about the BFL info. Brag on with that 2 lb loss girl!
BOB - As wonderful as Eli is, he's not a girl. Are you becoming a "gym honey?" Good job on the workouts! You sound serious about it too! Go on wich yo bad sef! Thanks for your "skinny" comments. Don't feel skinny per se, but I do feel much better about myself.
JMUIR - Take it from the Queen of Sole herself, wait until you lose 7 more and get this S&L shoes for an even deeper discount! TJ Maxx is getting in alot of summer shoes! I gotta get a toenail in before I can think about open-toes!
NANCE - I've been to Lane Bryant and have left feeling the way you did. I got myself together and went back and found some lovely things. What a cool thing with the sewing machine! Sweet! Thanks for the haircut comments. This is a style that I really like. Are you into Creative Memories?
QUILTER - The luncheon speaker sounded great! Your pictures on the photo baord are great! I pictured you with longish brown hair. Why, I have NO idea. Like your hair the way it is! Is your DH a red head? Mine is. Remember your yoga while on your TOM, "Be one with your womanliness." Glad you're feeling better. I continue to enjoy your enthusiastic posts.
FILLISE - Glad the banquet was a success. Feel better and let Belle help. Sorry you won't be able to make the beach trip. :(
BETH - This is an easy WOE isn't it? Glad you're feeling better too. New work gear! Hooray for you! You're really making great progress! I have than Ex-Lax prob with some of the SF stuff too!
ZSU - I hear the sleepiness will wear off soon! Great job on the charity walk!
SHEANN - Glad you're able to sleep at night. Y'all have had a mild winter haven't you?
PRAVDA - Glad you're feeling better. Would love to hear more about growing up in Africa.
TV - Sorry to hear the report from your doctor wasn't good. My thoughts are with you.
NASCAR - Yeah that you're down! Your gonna be a Winston Cup girl when you get to Daytona!
DARAMUS - Sleep is so important to me! Sounds like you have had several years without some! Sending a lullaby your way!
BUSDEB - Almost 1/2 way to goal! YIPPEE!! Would like to ride English some to work on the lower body! Take a ride for me will ya!
ZANNE - Would like to find that computer gremlin and get rid of it!
SLAPHAPPY - You gotta hook-up with other board members in O-town!! You will make life-long friendships and the board will be more meaningful than ever! Employee of the year! What on honor!! Happy for you!
SOL - Glad your review was positive. We know how terrific you are, glad to know your bosses do too! Love the WDW coutndowns. It will be fun with everyone! I  that Vince will walk it with you. It is such a meaningful experience, one worth sharing with others. And just think of the picture at the end! BTW - you do glow!
JRED - Hang in there with the up and down on the scale! We've all been there and will see you through!
HAMSM - You're making good progress!
ROSALIE - You're gonna really enjoy the Orlando get together. I wanna come too!
LAMAP - Like your dating philosophy. Good luck and have fun! This can really be an enjoyable time in your life.
AMADA - Sorry I goofed on the spelling of your name! Hope you're out there!
OK. That is all I can do for now! Hope you all have a nice weekend!
Peace,
FROG

Hey All:wave:
Finally got some time to post-boy do I feel like I've been off of the board forever and not for just the day.
Didn't think I'd get my walk in this morning, was raining when I took the kids to school, but luckily stopped. I only walked today, no jogging-got a lovely blister on my heal that made me walk slower and painfully slow:(
Scale is up yet another lb, 3lbs in 2 days, 5lbs from my low-hope I'll see a downward trend soon!
The 11th graders event went off without a hitch-they had a great time and the rains basically stayed away.
Went to Penneys today to see what they had on sale. Got Michael a few things, one pair of sneakers orig. $65 got $19. I tried on a few items-I HATE SHOPPING FOR MYSELF! I tried on a pair of stretch capris-they feel so weird on my calves, plus, the size 4's were too big (trust me, they can't be true 4's)-I tried on a couple dresses in the petite sizes, I'm not a 6 for sure, more of an 8. Big on top I guess. One thing for sure, I WILL NEVER WEAR ANYTHING SLEEVELESS IN MY LIFE EVER AGAIN-I've never seen anything more gross then my arms!
Please forgive me if I don't answer everyone this evening. Eli is due home soon and I don't have the time to do so. I have read all the posts though:) I'll be back into the groove tomorrow (I hope).
BUSDEB, I know exactly what you are saying about the chocolate. Being a recovering Chocoholic I KNEW if I even tried to eat any at the beginning of SB I'd be in BIG trouble. That's why I steered clear of it for the first year. Now, it's not an issue with me. I think SB did a big disservice in not explaining that chocolate should not be eaten until at least being near your goal weight-not even high cocoa content. Sorta defeats the purpose of GETTING THE SUGAR OUT! I can get you a case of agave, but the shipping is about $10 for the one case. The store would be the same, as they would ship it via USPS, same as me. I think the only place on line who still has it is FRANKFERD FARMS. I just called SCF to see if I could get any word on how stock is there and who she may be able to suggest us trying to get it from on the web.
MELF, you KNOW we won't stay at that one weight and also that one day of eating isn't going to make you gain. As much as I WISH I could of stayed at the 118 a few weeks ago, I know that I should be happy with staying within that 5lb range. Have you determined what range you want to stay in? You had me laughing:lol: I loved your bobaganouse, made me think of BOB! It's funny, with ME foods, there's so many possible spellings of the same thing, sorta like Hanukah/Chanukah/Hanukkah! At home, we spell it baba ganoush;)
BOB, you THINK you're back on track-haven't I taught you anything at the DETOX DUNGEON:rolleyes: You must say I AM BACK ON TRACK!!! Girls night out????
BETH, be careful with that malitol crap, in can make your stomach and bowels do flips! I don't suggest anyone having that stuff. CONGRATS on detoxing from the soda! Were you drinking regular MT. Dew? I met a lady who drinks 6 Cokes a day, which equals to 54 tsp of sugar! YUCK!
MEL, YOU'RE COMING TO TOWN!! WOO HOO!! Absolutely, most definitely I'll come up. Guess what's in Plantation-OLE OLE! Ask your Brother how far he is from Broward Mall on University and Broward Blvd. I can come up any day but the 28th, busy that day. If we can at least do lunch and Carbolite, if nothing else, that would be great!!! :spin: Sorry, tell them to go to the beach without you for one day!
JRED, if you're doing everything right, then just be patient, it will pay off!
HAPPY, CONGRATS ON YOUR BEING NAMED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR!! How exciting! I was very much like you, and actually, feel I still am. I know if I have a bite of something off plan I won't be able to stop at one bite and will run in the completely opposite direction. It's bad enough when I make something SB LEGAL, I have no self-control! It's good that you recognize this, should help keep you on track. Don't tempt fate-stay away from the foods that drive you to go on a rampage!!! I split the pita in half :)
SOL, Eli LOVES fattoush! We'll probably have some tonight in fact. Great use for the old pita bread.
NANCE, picture brought back memories, huh? Vegas! Lucky you-I'm jealous!!!!
FROG, hope you got my e-mail-I can't wait to get a final word so we can start planning. Forgot to get the pictures from Kmart-will try over the weekend-should probably call them to see if they are even in-would help, I guess.
Okay, the big boy is home, no kids are though, so it's just us two. I'll try to post later, otherwise sometime tomorrow after garage sales.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. If I didn't get a personal post in to you today, I'm sorry, I truly was thinking about each and every one of you!!!

HIya Everyone... TGIF and that it's almost OVER!! Work has been crazy today, and the only thing that kept me from pulling my hair out was the paycheck...(ok that and the lecture from my dad about being the only grandchild who inherited the curls, and what a shame... blah blah blah.. too much guilt..LOL!!)
Deb- Yup.. I was drinking about 80 - 100 ounces of REGULAR MOUNTAIN DEW EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!!!!!!! Up until the DAY I started SB. I quit cold turkey exactly 12 days ago!!!! I've done GREAT!
Foodwise I've done AWFUL today... I never felt full. I kept it all SB legal, but good gawd I thought I'd chew off my fingers. TOM is approaching and once it gets here I'll be back to non-starvation-mode. (and I'll get rid of this bloat I have aquired in the last 2 days! UGH!!!)
I had... 2 eggs, about 3 servings of triscuits and cheese dip.(why yes I do want to vomit thanks for asking).. 2 bowls of salad, a piece of biscotti, a sugar free popsicle... I just never quit snacking. I guess if I add the calories, I didn't do too much damage, it just felt like I was. The fat was too high though. But hey... considering all the available snacks in my house... I'm kickin a$$ and taking names at staying LEGAL during PMS!!!
Tomorrow is another day... and I'll be on the road to Nashville to visit the outlaws. They'll probably take us out to eat for DH's birthday... I hope I can find something legal to eat!!! They love Chinese food... and SO DO I... if they take me there, what are my best options (I know I know.. NO rice! Duh..LOL) But Dish-wise, is there anything I can have that would be my best choice if that is where they take me? I love hot and sour soup... it has tofu in it... I love tofu, but is it legal??
I'm babbling again... geez I have diarrhea of the fingers lately.
No walk today.. it's rainy and cold and I have sick kids, can't leave them inside alone. DH is still at work. It's ok... I walked at work till I thought my legs would fall off today.
Deb you sound like me.... dresses have never fit me.. even when I was a 4 at 17 years old..LOL. I've always had bigger than a DD chest... so I have to wear pants and tops, no dresses or they hang down like maternity dresses... :( I'm not a dress kind of gal anyway. Most of my clothes are Lane Bryant Elemental Stretch button down tops, and pants.. and some knit pants... I'm a 16 tall.. I love their jeans and pants cause they fit right!!
Oh yeah... I recall someone on the board saying they were a Lane Bryant size 20... I have a Black Elemental Stretch (if you shop there, you know what I'm talking about) Blazer/Pants set. If you want it... pay to ship it and it's yours. I wore the suit twice and it's gorgeous!!! It was about $120. Looks great with any color button down under it. Too bad they don't sell it anymore, cause I'd love to have it in a 16! (actually... I'd LOVE to not be able to shop there anymore.. but as long as I have to.. I'd like one! LOLOL!) -Email me if you want the suit- DavesGirl2374@aol.com
Ok that's enough out of me.... Have a great weekend in case I don't get back :)
Later Losers :)) *that's a GOOD thing!!*

Maybe since ELI can't come, he will let DEBBIE bring the machine :s: I think between all of us, we could figure out how to make coffee drinks!
BETH...AM I GLAD TO HEAR THAT I HAVE HELP ON THIS BOARD DURING FOOTBALL SEASON!!!
I need to cut WAY BACK on my caffeine, but like I said, I am SO HOOKED on my STARBUCKS Got two coupons today in the mail from HEADQUARTERS :D

A quick post before I get off my tush, as my dd says, and ride my bike. The scales gave up the two pounds today, so I'm back to where I was on Tuesday. I hope my patience is winning out and the scales will keep on moving down.
The weather was crisp and sunny today. Hope all you ladies in the midwest and northeast aren't being hit too terribly bad by this storm that moseyd through the Lone Star State.
I woke up this morning thinking I was hearing a toilet running but discovered it was my FREEZER!!! The icemaker water valve had gone out and there was an inch of water on my kitchen floor.
We grabbed every towel downstairs and some blankets, too to soak up the water because our wet/dry vac tube was cut. At least DH was home to clean up the mess. That happened one day after the dryer quit heating. Luckily the same repairman was able to fix both appliances. We had an electrical switch out in the dryer. Now I just have to clean out the clean-out drain so the dishwasher will stop leaking from underneath! When I rains, it pours. :dizzy:
Hope you all have a restful, relaxing, replenishing weekend. I plan on it.
Keep on track and keep on losing!

Just a quick hello to all. Had a fairly good day today. Hope you all did also. Made reservations to go to Gatlinburg TN in June. Does anyone know anything to do in Gatlinburg other than Dollywood?
Hope you all have a great SB legal weekend!!

Hello all. Had a pretty good day and was Sb legal with lots of veggies. Had a PB sandwich for lunch, but should probably cut that out because it makes me start craving illegal foods.
We went on a mini-vacation tonight by driving over to Winter Park and walking down the Avenue, looking in all the store windows and actually going into Restoration Hardware. Pottery Barn was just closing by the time we got to that store. We checked out a new chocolate candy store and the homemade icecream store, but resisted. :)
To welcome Beth to the board, and to remind Big Orange that the Gators are still mighty, I will sign off with this wonderful insignia.

Morning Everyone!
Sorry I have been MIA for a few days been busy! Had a Dr's appt. and all is going well! (If I forgot to tell you I'm trying to have a baby)
Frog - I''m gonna check those dates to be sure it's not Talledega weekend; if not I'm planning on coming and meeting all of you wonderful ladies! Ok, a winston cup gal? Ya know those chick are models! I don't think I'll ever be that thin!
Daramus - Maybe you need more water. Sometimes that could be mistaken for hunger. our tummies don't really know the difference. If you drink the water and in about 30 min you are still hunry then chance are you may need to eat. Especially if 8 hrs has past since your last meal. Hang in there!
Sol - The lady from Frankferd farms called me thursday at work and said they were out temporarily so I told her to call me that I wanted a case. It is on sale $22 and some change for a case.
She's to call me back once they get it in. Ya know I'm counting down the days! It will be hectic there not time to do much. I wish I could meet up with some of you! But Daytona will be a nightmare to drive in for race week! I look forward to the Oct. trip that is if it's not Talledega weekend. If you want to go to that one let me know I may be able to swing the tickets for next year we get 4. They are great seats!
Deb - I got a sample from Golden tropical The shipped me a jar for free to try! The cheese cake was delicious! my Stepson loved it! of course DH has not tried it yet. He's not a sweet eater! I think my oven cooked faster than most so it's a tad bit dry on edges but yummy! :D How much is the shipping on the Agave? I may want to get some until the Frankferd farms stock comes in(hopefully).
TV - hang in there! I too have had those female problems that's why I'm where I'm at now! Trying to have a baby!! Thank goodness you have 2 little angles already!
Take care!
Going shopping today Rich's is having a sale and I have to get some wedding gifts!

Good Morning Busters!
Went to Longhorn for dinner with DH last evening. Had a little fried shrimp appetizer then a grilled chicken salad. YUM!
Then mosied over the bookstore and bought the Body For Life book. Have some questions for Mel about that later in the post.
Too early today to have heard from Allison about the beach dates yet. But, given the information I have - being one of those 2 weeknds in October, 10-13 or 17-20, Who thinks they will come? I am so excited I am chomping at the bit to know! DEB and I have been emailing each other about some FUN ideas for that weekend and will spill the beans when we make some decisions. One that I will toss out is a massage therapist from here (she is my massage person and she is also Allison's SIL) who has been soing SB and Somersizing may be available for massages at the beach. She will bring her massage table and supplies and set up on the 3rd floor. Just think of it ladies, a massage with REAL ocean sounds, not just coming out of the speakers! Ahhhh... Anyway, I asked her the rate she would chage for that weekend and she said $20.00 for a 1/2 hour and $40.00 an hour. More deatils later, but a schedule would be made for the weekend for those interested in this form of pampering! I have had numerous massages with her and think she is GREAT! I know y'all were hoping for a naked male masseuse (sp?), but "that ain't happening!"
So, who thinks they are coming to beautiful NC in the fall?
Need to clean this junky house today. Plan to get BUSY! in here after this post!
MEL - I probably have the most questions for you about BFL. I came home last night after 9:00 and practically read the book before going to bed! Here are my MANY questions!
1. Are you trying any of the supplements? If so, how do they taste and is there much sugar? Do you think the supplements are safe and that you can achieve the same results without using them?
2. How long have you been doing it?
3. What changes are you seeing?
4. Are you doing your own skin-fold tests or having someone do them for you?
5. Can you believe the before and after photos of these people?
6. Did you buy his other book too? If so, do you find it helpful?
7. Do you personally know anyone who's done this?
8. What do you know about maintenance?
9. Anything else you'd like to say?
Thanks for entertaining all of my questions MEL! I've got 11 weeks until my first bathing suit appearance and I think I'm gonna do the challenge and may enter the contest! :D I think that may keep me focused.
SLAPHAPPY - I found some sites on Google you may want to try for info on Gatlinburg. Galtinburg Info 1 (http://www.gatlinburg.com) and Gatlinburg Info 2 (http://www.gatlinburg-tennessee.com) . Hope these are helpful! Look for info on Cades Cove too.
Have a happy Saturday everyone. WIll check back in later!

27 DAYS TILL REGISTRATION FOR THE WDW MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON!!!!!
34 DAYS UNTIL MARIE HITS O-TOWN TO MEET THE FLORIDA BABES!!
Good Saturday Morning, Ladies!!!
Today will be my longest day ever - I'm planning to walk 5.5 miles today. I'll keep up with my time, but I will not worry about what it is or try to go fast - just get through the mileage without dying and having to crawl back to the house - or worse, call my neighbor to come pick me up because I can't get home. :o I hope my foot doesn't give me fits today. I'm also thinking of taking an extra water bottle, but that would be 3 of 'em and I already look like a total goober out there.
NASCAR - Are you talking about getting us tickets to Talladega this year or Daytona next year? We're tapped out on funds this year because we're going to the Gator Nationals, but I would LOVE to go with you to the 500 next year! BTW, we just got our new checks in the mail from www.checksunlimited.com = our NASCAR checks! :D We have to finish the Garfield checks before we can start using them though.
SLAPHAPPY WHOO HOO!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Employee of the YEAR!!! That's awesome! Don't know much about Gatlinburg, but I do know my grandparents love going up there and we've had quite a few friends honeymoon up there.
FILLISE - Kick your feet up and let Miss Belle comfort you. I'll bet you overdid it in your preparations for the big dinner and now that it's over your body is going - Whew! NOW we can rest! I do know what you mean about being sick and thinking I deserve to eat whatever I want because I don't feel good. My biggest problem is that there just aren't many soups to choose from in the store that are legal and when you're sick you don't want to fix anything. I do make French Onion Soup now and it's quick and easy, but I sure do miss my Chicken Corn Chowder and Chunky Beef & Vegetable Soups when I'm wanting comfort soups. I hope you feel better soon!
FROG I don't think I'll be able to make the beach gathering much as I would like to.....but I'll be at the WDW Marathon! :D I am jealous of that massage, though - I'd probably buy her for a few hours - even though she's not a handsome nakkked man!
BETH My Meister used to drink about 5 Mt. Dews at work, but he cut that down to 1 or 2 Diet Mt. Dews - I don't think I could go cold turkey on the caffeine. You ahve my utmost respect!
DEBBIE We also bought some Caradmom to add to our coffee, but can't get the amount down. I added 1/4 tsp to my coffee before brewing it, but I can't taste it. It smells so strong you'd think it wouldn't take much. We had some Cardamom coffee a few years ago and haven't found it since - and we loved it. I have a co-worker who's from Turkey and he gets a kick out of 'sampling' our attempts to cook ME food. He said I should add tomato paste and less water to the lamb and veggies dish next time. I think we'll be having fatoush quite frequently here - Vince loves it too! He made a whole big ole bowl of it and by the time I got in there to eat most of it was gone! I guess he could be mowing on worse things.
BOB We faithfully tape CSI, The Agency and Alias every week! Getting frustrated with the freaking re-runs though. Why the heck do they do that?!?!?
Ooops! I hear the cartoons - that means I've been online too long! Gotta go clean house!
 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!

Ugh, feeling worse today. Sore throat and chills. I have a little work to do, but then I think I'll crawl back into bed.
I left the house yesterday, so I gave into the "poor little me" syndrome. I really don't think i'm going anywhere today.
I made a breakfast burrito this morning with scrambled egg, a little melted cheese and a WW tortilla. It was good, quick, and oh-so easy. I'll probably make some pastina for lunch. Am forcing liquids today--mostly hot green tea.
Sol--speaking of soups. My Italian grandmother used to make pastina when anyonew as sick. It has been passed down and is known as "Italian penicillian" in our family. Hint it is the same as chicken noodle soups except instead of noodles, we use the star pastina. I was thrilled to discover recently in the Glycemic revolution GI list that star pastina was something like 38 on the glycemic index. All you do is heat up a little chicken broth (or even bullion) and put in a tablespoon of pastina for each serving you want to make. Use whatever seasonings you want and presto you have a good soup. BTW, this is also good for the stomach flu--you can usually keep this down when you can't keep down anything else. My mother makes it whenever someone she knows is on chemo therapy and is having trouble keeping food down--for a while there she was keeping half the neighborhood alive on the stuff!
BOB, Gator, and Missy--that wailing sound you hear is all them BAMA fans learing about the wages of sin! :s: If you read the NCAA memo, it is clear that the vote on the death penalty was close--they ought to thank their lucky stars they escaped. But now they have to be good for 5 whole years. I'm thinking they won't make it:devil:
Here is my plug for the beach weekend. NC beaches are GORGEOUS in October! It will still be warm, but not hot--and you will only share the beach with the fishermen. Go if you can---I'd be there in a second if I could!
Nascar--I'm crossing my fingers on the baby making! I think Winston-cup girl is NOT out of the question!
Jred--my sympathies. My washing machine loves to spew water on my kitchen floor every so often. The roto rooter man is one of my best friends!
Beth--If Nance doesn't take you up on that LB pantsuit, I might. I'm thrilled to be a size 20 (When I began SB I was wearing any thing from a 26-32). Now I am in the 20-22 range depending on the cut of the clothes. All the 24s I bought last year are about to fall off me.
UG--I have to get my work done so I can get into bed. You would know this is the one Sat. in ages it has been pretty and i can't go out and enjoy it!

Good Saturday Morning!!
Got the boys registered for ball this morning. Corey's 10 and is playing his second year of "kid pitch" and Andrew is 4 and this is his first season ever!! Don't you LOVE T-Ball... all those tiny kiddo's in uniforms running with the bat still in their hand, with that big helmet bobbing on their heads, and usually going the Wrong Way!! I'm Soooooooo looking forward to being a TBall mom again. I adore baseball!!! I don't like to watch any sport but Baseball!!!
Nascar Girl - DH Was born and raised in the Nashville/Brentwood area. He grew up around the corner from Bobby Hamilton and his dad still races in Nashville. He knows a LOT of the "old timers" in racing, and has just purchased his first race car. ( Boy am I gonna keep tabs on the $$$ he spends, so I can get new clothes while I shrink!!!) We go to Talladega every year, as Keebler is a sponsor and has a box. Last Talladega race, they were sponsors of Tony Stewart ( I love that guy, he is exactly like me!!!) and he came up and autographed a CheezIt box for Dave. This year they dumped Tony for Terry Labonte.... what the **** were they thinking? Dump number 3 for number oh-my-gosh-i-don't-have-enough-toes-to-count-that-high??? But oh well. Lots of folks don't like TS cause of his brash nature, but I'm a LOT like him in personality and I respect his decision to be himself and not act fake and PC because of anyone watching him. He is who he is.. I love it.
Fillise - It's a gorgeous pantsuit... I'm guessing you're familiar with the Elemental Stretch material. It's not shiny, but it is "forgiving" and wears so comfortably... it's yours if you want it. Nobody else has asked.
Well, I'm off to get our stuff ready to head to Nashville to see the outlaws... everyone have a lovely weekend and happy losing :)

Hello all I hope I'm welcome to come on this board. I've posted for quite awhile at low carbs board. But got off the plan and on the plan and off the plan. You know how it goes. But I've had the SB book for along time and I would like to give it a really good try. I sat down and read it this morning after I had got on my scale and was horrified to see my weight. I also have severe coronary artery disease which makes my weight a real risk factor for me. I've got along ways to go and have just got to get a handle on this. So anyway here I go. I'll have allot to read to catch up on who everyone is. Oh yea I'm a 53 year old, married woman with three grown children and three grandsons. I live in the beautiful hills of the Ozarks of Missouri. I've got a least 85 lbs to lose. So here I go.......... Toni
Starting weight 215
goal weight 130 :D

Good Afternoon All!
Haven't had a chance to read the board, but thought I'd better check in. Had our first winter storm on Thursday! Yesterday was really bad winds.
Just got back from our 3rd meal out this week. I think we've passed our quota for the year!;)
Overall, I think I've eaten well. Tuesday's dinner, the only "cheat" I had was one small roasted red potato. Today's breakfast my only "cheat" was a half slice of lemon poppyseed cake. Last night was the whopper tho. Buffet dessert! WOW! All the tempting cakes. Took a couple of slices of cake and a bowl full of fruit. One cake turned out to be mocha cheesecake--left it on the plate, I'm not a big cheesecake fan. The other slice had lots of icing which I left most of, ate the cake part tho:( . The fruit was yummy, but alas, mostly pineapple. I suppose the pineapple was the lesser of 2 evils as I got some fiber from the pineapple, but I know it's a :nono:
I really found I didn't like the icing! I found it too sweet! I'm not too much of a dessert person, but there are a couple of things I used to enjoy. So I guess eating mostly SB way, I've curbed most of my sweet cravings.:)
I took measurements today and I've lost a total of 2.75 inches in the last 2 weeks! One inch off the waist and one inch off the belly!:D I guess I'm doing something right.
I guess the moral of the story is that I'm not perfect. I just keep trying my best and things are happening. I was stuck for a few weeks gaining and losing the same lb. I lost a lb this week and also inches. So those of you who are stalled, just keep trying your best and you will get results.
I've gotta run. I hope everyone is keeping well. I'll try to read the board later.

My patience is paying big dividends today. I was down 2 more pounds and that makes --tah dah-- 30 pounds lost since August!:spin:
I thought I'd lost my post from last night because the laptop froze and I almost reposted my freezer experience. I'm glad I reviewed the board. Otherwise, I'd have bored you twice. :smug:
Welcome Toni! This is a great place for encouragement and support.
I'm hoping to make the trek east in October. I found today that Continental has $88 roundtrips from DFW to Baltimore so I'm going up to Annapolis to visit my DS at the end of April. Wish the sale lasted until Oct. It's through June.:(
Have a great weekend everyone.
Take Care,
Jeanie

Hi everyone
Went to the library to-day and picked up a bunch of books on Disney. So have lots of reading to do for the weekend. Can't believe it is only 34 days to go. I booked up a couple of motels for the journey down. Didn't want to be searching for a place to sleep at 9 or ten oclock at night.
Just made some granola bars. I used an oatmeal cookie recipe and added and changed a few things. If it turns out o.k. I will post the recipe. The first one I made tasted good but was a little dry and crumby, probably didn't put enough oil in. This time I have used butter, as the recipes says. I wasn't sure if the creamed butter would mix well with the agave but it turned out o.k. I planned on making the cheesecake as well but only had enough agave for one thing. Now I am completely out, may not have any for another couple of weeks. I have ordered a case but don't know when it will be here. It is coming from Vancouver B.C. but they had a big snowstorm the day before I phoned so it may be held up a bit. They aren't used to snow out there. I guess everything stops when it happens.
Slaphappy - If you plan on going over to Pigeon Forge when you visit Gatlinburg you will find lots to do there. They have about 9 theatres there. I've visited there several times and always enjoyed the time I spent there. You may want to check out their website. http://www.mypigeonforge.com/
Sorry I don't have time to respond to you all. I'm off up to my dd for dinner.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Marie.

Good Saturday Evening All:wave:
Finally getting my "chance" on the computer today. Had to beg Michael to take a break so I could get on-I was getting antsy.
Garage sales sucked today. I spent a whole $2-guess that's good, in a way though;)
Last night, I was all ready for Eli to walk in the door and the phone rings, he had left his keys in another Mgrs car that he went to a meeting with, and couldn't reach him. Sooo, I had to take the 2nd set of keys to him. He was hungry and wanted to get a bite to eat, though I told him I wasn't really THAT hungry and really thought I'd only have a small bit of something at home when he was coming home (so I thought). Anyhow, we ended up at SHORTY'S and I ate, not a lot, but more than I would of at home-than when we got home, ate some more. I swear, he's like a partner in crime!
Today's been a good day, eating and journaling-though we haven't had dinner and it's still being thawed out (going to make some meat, not sure what though). For me, I'm one who picks being more hungry at night. In fact, I'm hungry now and since din-din isn't going to be ready for a LONG time, will go make a milkshake when I get done with this post.
BETH, good for you for going cold turkey on the soda! I stopped drinking all soda in June 2000 and I really don't miss it at all. Even when Eli offers me a sip from a can I decline. I use to drink a lot of Crystal Light as well, stopped drinking that the same time. After reading about the Aspertame and having trouble with my memory I knew it was time to quit putting that stuff in my body. I have to say, besides the weight loss while following SB, subsiquintly, it's done good in other areas, besides giving up soda, I also started paying attention to what was in foods and thus started eating even healthier than any book ever suggested. I look to see what ingredients are in the foods I eat and for the most part, I don't buy things with preservatives in them, esp hydrogentated oils and things I can't pronounce. Forget that SF Ice Cream and all the crap in it, why eat that when you can have the real stuff (like Breyers) with no preservatives. This is just my way of thinking;) Anyhow, as you will well see, there are certain times of the month, esp. mid-cycle, that you will see me post that I've eaten myself out of house and home, that nothing seems to satisfy me, that I've probably had about 3,000 calories, though all of them being OP. There are times that hormones just wreck havoc on our systems and nothing seems to fill us up, listen to your body-try to eat more protein and more slow-releasing carbs (beans, high fiber foods). This will help some, but eat as you feel you should, just try to stay with foods OP, usually by the next day, you wake up feeling back to normal and wondering what the heck happened to you the day before! I can tell you, making one of my "milk shakes" does help get me full, at least for a while;) Hope you had a good time for DH bday and dinner-tofu is legal BTW. Hope wherever you ended up going for dinner making choices weren't that hard.
BOB, of course I can snag a machine to bring with us to NC, but if there's a SB in the area, surely I'll be able to snag some free coupons and save ourselves all the dregery of making it! You surely don't want ME to make coffee-gosh knows, it will probably come out tasting like sludge! LOL!! How'd you snag some free coupons AGAIN?? 10 MONTHS OF NO SMOKING IS AWESOME!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
JRED, CONGRATS ON HITTING A NEW MILESTONE!!! 30lbs, AWESOME!! I always say patience ALWAYS pays off;) The same thing happened to my Aunt and her ice maker a few years ago. Problem was, she was out of town at the time and they had a split-level ranch home where the kitchen was on the top floor. It flooded the top, and bottom. They had MAJOR damage. Thank goodness yours wasn't worse. I'm sure with Oct being an off month, rates to get to NC will be decent-I'll help find you a deal!!!
HAPPY, I too have been to Gatlinburg a few times-love Dollywood! We take the kids up to OBERGATLINBURG to go ice skating up there-it's been years though and I haven't a clue if they still have it, or what else is up there now, besides the restaurant. Pigeon Forge, very touristy, but nice to walk around. Try to see how far ATHENS, TN is from there. We took the kids there as well to the MAYFIELD DAIRY FARM for a tour of their factory-being ice cream freaks, it was great! Mom and I had ice cream before AND after the tour:s: Oh, and that Smokey Mountain Taffey Store BOB mentioned-forget about it, I have my spy cameras all over the place-I'll be watching!!!!! LOL!
NASCAR, hope FRANKFERD can still get some agave for you-have been in touch with a couple places and they no longer have it. I thought I had 6 cases, but only have 4, so I think I'll be ordering another 2 cases-and praying they still have it in stock! That's great you got in a free sample from that company. When I checked the USPS site for shipping, it was something like $9 without any insurance or confirmation delivery. E-mail me with your zip and I'll get the exact cost it would be from here to there. Just watch you oven next time and remove the cheesecake when you see it starting to lightly brown.
FROG, you KNOW I will be there in Oct unless something unfortunate happens (like death). That's my birth month and this will be my present to myself. Actually, there's quite a few of us with Oct b.days that should treat ourselves to this time together for our bdays! Of course, I wish EVERYONE could come, but I know that's not possible. Those who come will definitely have a memorable experience! I love the idea of the massage-maybe we can put a picture of a naked guy somewhere within eye-sight since we can't have a male massues do the honors!
SOL, did you get in your 5.5 miles today? How'd it go? I thought that when we finally get a little cooler weather I was going to extend my walk/jog another mile and see how I do time wise, not to mention how I feel. At the rate we've been having a heat-wave here, that doesn't look like it will be happening any time soon. Why don't you think you can make the NC trip in Oct.-it's going to be cheap (probably about $50 for accomodations, depending on how many come) and you can carpool (cheap again)-you just HAVE to come! We'll definitely work it out! I won't register for the WDW until you say YES! BTW, let me know if you need anything from down here before next month, will be asking everyone to see who needs what and then will go shopping. I've used cardamom in some baking, but never in coffee, haven't a clue how much to use.
FILLISE, hope you feel better! Take it easy and crawl back in bed, I did, and I'm not sick, just tired. Why can't you make the Oct. get together???:(
TONI, WELCOME TO THE SB BOARDS! Of course you are welcome to join us, no need to ask! If you've been lurking our boards, you can definitely see that we are a friendly and inviting bunch, and you'll feel like you've belonged forever in a very, very short time! We are more than happy to help answer any questions you may have about SB, if you do have any, and we are eager to support you in helping you reach goal and feeling healthy and getting healthier. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD! It was nice to learn more about you. Again, welcome!!
ZANNE, sounds like you had an interesting time at that buffet. I hate buffets, okay, I don't hate them, it's just a waste of money for me since I hardly eat anything and then with being on SB, I wouldn't eat half the stuff on there anyhow. BUT, I know, come April when we go up to NC we'll be hitting a Ryans at least once, or twice-so I'll be faced with eating a buffet most likely (though they may have regular meals). PERSONALLY, in my old days of eating stuff like that, down here, we have PUBLIX and I love their buttercream frosting on cakes. Any bday cake that was leftover, I would freeze and THEN I'd eat the frozen icing-hmm, and sometimes I wondered why I was gaining weight! LOL!!
ROSALIE, I wonder, on the Almond Granola, what if we took more agave and some egg whites and tried coming that and making bars? Any thoughts??
That's it for me, for now at least. I'll try to check in later, otherwise, will be back on tomorrow after my walk/jog.
Have a great weekend!

Saw Allison today. She reported that the weekend of the 11th has been reserved. However there is one minor glich that will be easily remedied. Allison's husband told the uncle to reserve Fri-Sun instead of Thurs-Sun. She said they would talk to uncle soon and get it straight.
I am keeping a list of RSVPs for that weekend and I have responses for SOL, DEB, FILLISE, and JRED. Please let me know if you are a definite or a maybe. I hate hearing NO's but I understand :(
Well, going over to a friend's to play cards with DH and her beau. Gotta go put my goat smelling self in the shower!

5.5 MILES TODAY! :D That's my longest walk EVER! It took me all of 1 hour and 41 minutes - but - by golly I did it!
I drank every single drop of the water I took and came real close to pepper spraying a dog that scares the crap out of me every time I pass their yard. I swear that dog is going to make it over the fence one day. Vince says I shoulda just sprayed him, but instead I yelled at the owners - next time I'm spraying his a**!
I've got a blister coming back on my pinky toe and the balls of my feet feel real tender, but overall I don't really feel any more tired or fatigued than I normally do. I think I'll stay at 5.5 miles on my long days for at least one more week though - maybe 2.
I'll get back on and personally respond tomorrow - gotta fix din din. Trying to decide between taco salads or falafels. DEBBIE - THIS IS YOUR FAULT! I'd have never known how good they were if it werent for you.
TONI WELCOME!! You're definitely at the right place for encouragement, advice and friendships.

Good Evening everyone!
Had a fairly good day today - hard to stay on plan on the weekend. Is sourdough bread a :nono: ? I had a tuna sandwich today on sourdough. Anyway my real goad is to start fresh again on Monday and plan my meals and take my own food to work so i don't get sucked in (I am weak  ) Anyway, as Scarlett always said "I'll think about that tomorrow". Well hubby is feeling better and waiting for me :o so I better get going. Have a great day tomorrow!!
BOB: Thanks for the info. I didn't even think about Cherokee! Do you think they have fake snow in the summer? My son loves country music - so he'll be in his glory if we find some country stars!Really looking forward to the trip but not until June! I sent for info from Chamber of Commerce. Hopefully my clothes will be a little looser by then and I can sneak some taffy. That is my goal! Oh, by the way 10 months without smoking and still on SB????????? That is great. I want to quit but know it will cause me to gain weight so after I lose some of my weight I will try....................AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't you just love North and South? I saw it several years ago.
FROG: I will definately check out the google site. Thank you! :) And if I was able to make October the massage sounds wonderful!!! But doubt I will make it - send her this way!
SOL: Do you have a recipe for that French Onion Soup?
BETH: I'm with you on the baseball thing! Just signed mine up for his 2nd year of T-ball (he's 6). He can't wait for coach pitch though! My husband is a racing fan and I dread Sundays during racing season, our lives revolve around the tv!
TONI: Welcome!! You have come to the right place. I am somewhat new here also and these are a great bunch of women and man (1)! I'm slow to start because I'm not good at planning but next week I'm going to plan every day and stay on plan!!! Good Luck to you!
JRED: Congratulations on your loss! You are very inspiring to us "newbies" :)
ROSALIE: Hope you find all your disney info interesting - You'll be Disney'd out by the time you get here! Thank you for the info on Pigeon Forge, I will check it out!
DEB: My husband is a q-tip with hair, and often gets me in to trouble!!! Did you make a legal SB milkshake? If so, how? If you spy on me while on vacation in Tennessee you may be shocked......because I'm sure I will try the taffy
Good Nite All!

hi to everyone,
welcome to toni, this is a great place to find support and lots of ideas for making that weight loss journey easier.
i found pretzels today that i believe are sugarbuster legal! deb, please say that they are because i am hooked. they are snyders of hanover organic oat bran pretzels. they are baked , 120 calories for 18 sticks, 2g of fiber, 3g of sugar, 0g of fat. the ingredients are organic wheat flour, water, organic oat flour and oat bran, ORGANIC AGAVE(!), salt, yeast and sodium bicarbonate.they are very yummy and satisfy that salty craving that i get right before my period. please let me know if they are o.k.
i am on a baking frenzy again, zucchini loaf and deb's cheesecake. we are having friends over for super bowl sunday and i am putting out a sb legal spread! i found a sb chili recipe on one of the boards or may do a cincinnati chili recipe i found (ooh to have real skyline chili quilter). the kids will have hot dogs on the grill, but everything else will be sb legal!
fillise- hope you are feeling better, so far knock on wood, in spite of the temperature swings here in florida nobody has been sick except for "the big guy in college".
BOB-am looking forward to meeting you and the others in orlando. we can talk football, we live , breathe and eat football at our house. alabama and kentucky will suffer for their ncaa indescretions. my son is a scholarship football player at UCF and his best friend from kindergarten is a gator. from what i hear the regulations are very strict and to lose bowl opportunities and scholarships will definitely hurt their recruiting in the future.
frog-i will let you know about the n.c. trip as soon as i know the UCF football schedule. when i was a kid(many years ago) we used to vacation in that area and also around wilmington. it was pretty then, i would love to see it again, the florida beaches where we live are not as nice now with all the erosion. i will keep you posted.
quilter- nice photo of you and hubby, you do look familiar! i did break down and bought some frozen skyline for my husband to have tomorrow, i think sometimes he dreams about the stuff.
sol- i was in orlando friday picking up jeff at school but i figured that you were at work (330p.m.) my husband will drive him back tomorrow after church so he can watch the game with his new family, the football team! the next time we are over there on a weekend i will definitely give you a call.
deb- i did it, i bought a scale! after my aggravation with the scale at work not weighing accurately i decided i would get one, i got one at sam's a scale with BIG numbers so i can see those pounds slipping away(ihope). this way i can WIW with the rest of you, during the rest of the week i will keep it covered with a sign that my daughter made that says keep off except for wednesday, i hope that will work!
all for now, husband neds the computer,
take care all,
chris

Happy - Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are great places to go. If you have never been, do go to Dixie Stampede. It's a dinner "theater" in an arena where you are served dinner while the shows goes on in the middle of the arena. It's based on a western theme with actual wagon races, etc. and lots of humor. Dolly started this concept and has other sites, but I'm thinking this is the original one. We really enjoy it, but you will pay about $35 dollars for the dinner/show. There is a Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg that is new and looks great. We've been to the one in Myrtle Beach and enjoyed it - I assume the Gatlinburg one is very similar. Gatlinburg is known for its artist community and you can take a trip around to the various artists' studios to look/buy. If you have kids there is always miniature golf and go carts. Obergatlinburg is interesting, at least for the cable car ride that takes you up there. Drive around the countryside - the roads and natural beauty are amazing there. Obviously, there's the Smokey's and Cherokee is fun to go to. Maggie Valley is beautiful, like BOB said. The whole area is touristy - but if you go with that in mind, you will have a great time! If you are driving, stop at a vistor's center on the Interstate (not a commercial visitor's center, but a state one) and pick up lots of brochures and flyers. You will find coupons for restaurants and some of the shows, sometimes for stores at the outlets. Hope this helps!

Hi all! My cable connection was down all day and I've felt cut off from the world! I'm about to fall asleep, so this may be short. I did WAY too much yesterday and am paying for it today. As long as I can keep from launching a fibromyalgia flare up I'll be happy. I did my carido in the morning, then decided I'd better do a good lower body w/o cause somehow I'd missed one this week, then I let another tennis mom talk me into 2 sets of singles while waiting for our kids to finish.... That was the proverbial straw:( . Woke up this am feeling like I'd been trampled, and real PMS'y to boot. Poor me. I had a session scheduled with the weight trainer a noon, so I had to go to the gym, but he took one look at me and said "we'll make today more instructional than a real workout" so I know my tail was dragging. He usually loves to torture me!
Sol: Congrats on that walk! I'd keep that distance for a few more long days before I upped it, too. Aside from your stamina, all sorts of other things need to adjust and get used to it before you throw more at your body.
Toni- Welcome! This is a great place and WOL (way of life). Ask questions, I'm sure someone on the board will know the answers, and just use us a support and long distance girlfriends.
Beth: NO! I hated T-ball. Luckily so did my son! He pronounced it "really boring" so that was the end for us. I much prefer watching soccer games. Glad you like it 'tho. I'd have suffered thru it if ds had enjoyed it, but both of us found baseball way tooo sloooow! We are hockey fans, here.
Frog- I'm a maybe, verging toward yes. When do you need to know for sure? October 13 is dh's b'day and I'm not sure how he'd like being abandonned.... Maybe he would :o I'll attempt some of the BFL answers, but as I said above, I'm losing it today, so if it doesn't make sense or I forget a question, just ask again!
(every one else who is bored silly by this, good nite!)
1.Are you trying any of the supplements? If so, how do they taste and is there much sugar? Do you think the supplements are safe and that you can achieve the same results without using them?
I use a protein powder from GNC (eggs and whey protein) sweetened with stevia to get in usually 1-2 of the six meals a day. I put it in the blender with water and a portion of frozen fruit(strawberries, blueberries, peaches, rasberries) and have in the last 2 days be cutting that to 1/2 portion fruit and 1/2 portion raw oatmeal. That gets the protein and carb both in. Tastes like an ice cream treat to my detoxed tongue. I have not yet used glutamine, but may start. I DO NOT AND WILL NOT USE CREATINE! The bodybuilder-trainer and my gym feels that only people training for contests should use it, and even then, not most women. Since it mainly helps muscles hold more water, women don't need any extra help in bloating! It seems nost poeple doing BFL use it, but I don't want to. I've avoided any of the meal replacement drinks because of all the artificial sweeteners (myoplex and lite have asperatame), and just make my own with the protein powder. I've also adapted his authorized food list to stay SB legal- not hard. Just didn't see the point of adding high GI foods to my diet.
2. How long have you been doing it?
I'm just starting week 5
3. What changes are you seeing?
I've only lost 1 pound of scale weight, but my arms, chest, upper abs, butt, thighs and calves are harder and more defined. I know I'm much stronger, and have significantly increased the weight I can do and maintain form. The scale part is depressing and BFL people are pretty disgusted with those of us who are scale obsessed. The husband-0-meter says I'm a lot leaner, and is annoyed that I can now wrestle out of his grip- playing, no he doesn't beat me!
4. Are you doing your own skin-fold tests or having someone do them for you?
I bought an electronic skinfold calipers and measure once a week, taking the readings 3 times and use the average. According to it, my BF has gone down 3% since I started. Not sure if I believe it.
5. Can you believe the before and after photos of these people?
I think some of those transformations took place over multiple challenges.
6. Did you buy his other book too? If so, do you find it helpful?
Didn't buy it.
7. Do you personally know anyone who's done this?
I hang out on a board at www.leanandstrong.com- pretty much all BFL'ers ranging from newbies on day 1 to people that have been doing it for 2-3 years. Check out the Transformation gallery there. I don't post a whole lot, but it's real helpful. Some of them tend to be a bit holier-than-thou, and a lot less warm and fuzzy than here, but it is a lively and dedicated group!
8. What do you know about maintenance?
???? keep liftin? Most of the long-timers on L&S (above site) say they'd never go back to their old ways. I personally enjoy lifting, but would probably take breakes from the intensity.
9. Anything else you'd like to say?
The meal planning is a pain in the a$$ with trying to get in 6 "feedings" a day, but it does seem to be the best way to do it. Speaking of which, its time for my peach blueberry smoothie treat!
Sorry to bore everyone else, hope that helps.--oh, there is a mini-board of runners at L&S doing BFL. Generally distance running is incompatible with building muscle (cannabalizes it after about 20-30 minutes, but look into the MTGBIS (Miles to go before I sleep) team board if you decide to do it. Hope this has been helpful, I'm passing out. Bye for now!

Froggie- Forgot something that's real important to me- I stay SB legal on the free days. I (unlike some of the BFL newbies) know how crappy I'd feel if I pigged out for a day on junk food! 'tho I've been craving a cinnabon for about 2 months now....have to think up some legal concoction that smells like one.
Now I'm really falling asleep. Hubby's out playing hockey til midnight and I know he'll wake me up when he gets in, but i'm heading for bed.

Hey gals! Its unusual for me to get on over a weekend, but we got a cable modem today and it is just GREAT!! Soooo fast, and you stay logged in all the time!
DH is in my big boy's room trying to get them settled enough to go to sleep. I swear, my little one could stay up all night if you didn't force him to get still!
I'm coping with the bad health situation fairly well. It sure helps knowing that you all are sending good wishes my way. You sure are a bunch of great gals! I find myself thinking about my friends on the board more and more each day!
My "Mom" situation has really got me down the last couple of days. She has seen that "old flame" 4 nights in a row now. Last night she went to his house and they babysat his grandkids! I don't know exactly why, but that lead to a real breakdown for me. Today she asked me to pick out a DVD for them to watch tonight!!! :?: Of course, I did, but not because I was happy about it. I really want to support her (sure don't want to upset her) but it just keeps getting harder. She said yesterday that he is going to come to church with her sometime!! His wife that died last year came to the same church as us and he NEVER came with her. I just think that is gonna look bad. Yes, she should encourage him to go, but I'm not ready to see her sitting with another man. We have always sat together, but I don't think I'll be able to if he is there - not yet anyway. As of right now, I have not really met him. In fact, if he walked up to me I would probably recognize him, because I know I've seen him before, but I wouldn't know for sure who he was. Enough rambling on that soap box now :dizzy: !!
Beth - We definately need to get together. We are a baseball family too! My 9 1/2 yr old is playing his second year of kid pitch this year and my little 4 yr old is playing t-ball (it's actually coach pitch, but they still call it T-ball ??). They both played fall ball last Sep/Oct and the gals here can tell you how much I enjoyed it, cause I gave them play by play many times!! My DH coaches the oldest one's team and has since the 1st year of T-ball. I get the fun job of keeping the scorebook - yuck. I've been meaning to email you from work, but I've just been really busy. I'll check in with you soon - maybe we can do lunch one day.
BusDeb - You should come up and do lunch with Beth and I when we all could get a time arranged! We can have an ALABAMA get-together and compete with that FLORIDA group !! :s:
Deb - did you do any good at yard sales today??
Bob - I quit smoking last April myself - It feels great to be rid of that habit! I have to say, I still have cravings every now and then, but I want to stay OFF that wagon and I know if I ever took one again it would probably put me right back where I was and I DON'T WANT TO EVER HAVE TO FIGHT THAT AGAIN!!! Good for us!!
Slap - We've gone to Gatlinburg several times. You won't have any trouble finding things to do! Its a beautiful place. We got a little cabin up in the mountains there once and it was just a wonderful getaway. I want to go back there soon myself!!
NASCAR - A BABY?!?!?! My fingers are crossed for you! I wasn't supposed to be able to have the 2 I had - fooled them didn't I?? My first was the outcome of a severe sinus infection and antibiotics (Keflex 500mg to be exact). I didn't know then that antibiotics cancel the effectiveness of BC pills!! I wouldn't take anything for that illness!! My second one came after only 2 months of trying. My doctor called me "fertile Mertle". I'm glad this problem is coming after I've had my young'uns. I would be really upset if this had happened before I had either of them.
Fillise - I sure hope you are feeling better. So many folks around here have the "CRUD" lately. Get some rest and it will pass...
WOW - It is 1:30AM - I better go to bed. DH just wandered through going from the kids bed to ours, so I'm going to join him!

Sorry for my absence, back at work...whew what a week! Payroll deadlines became 1st priority, which left little time for my "me" time. In addition, Michael’s asthma has come back to pay us a full fledge visit. He’s better now that we have increased his meds.
Yesterday’s weigh in was 161.5. Today’s weigh in was higher. I’m struggling with giving in to baked goods and sweets. Last night my daughters helped me and we made a book of all of your wonderful SB recipies. This morning my DH made me a total SB breakfast. Tomorrows my 1 year anniversary of adapting to the SB lifestyle.
I have to taxes, before I really get me time, so that's my focus on this SuperBowl Sunday.
Have a good one.

Good morning all! Slept late and would like to have slept even later, but have several things I want to get done before the Super Bowl. Pulling for the Rams to win but hope that Brady for the Pat's has a good game. I feel a certain sense of sadness that football season is over. I really like sports. I am glad that the Olympics are starting this week.
Am going to go to the mall today and check out the GNC store's protien supplement stuff with the info in hand that MEL gave me. I think I may also check out the scales that measure body fat %-age as well as weight.
Also hope to get some pics developed from WDW trip. :D
SOL - GO WALKER GIRL!!! :spin: Sorry to hear about your feet. May be just part of the toughening process. If I may ask, what type of socks are you wearing? If not moisture-wicking, may want to look into those. You may also want to conisder some with a little more cushioing, like Thorlo's, but only of these don't make your shoes too snug. You'll discover what you need through trial and error.
BOB - I gotcha down for the October beach trip and have made room in the cupboards for your dirty martini making supplies!
DEB - No Starbucks that I know of in that area, but we do have several coffee pots and I don't mind making the non-specialty stuff. Maybe BOB needs to come to your place to get some coffee/cappucino making tips from her boyfriend. ;)
MEL - Thanks for allowing me to pick your brain!! My friend showed me a magazine article in the Jan/Feb 2002 Health magazine about BFL. A real person took the challenge and was quite successful. Overall, it was a favorable article. I'm excited. The evil side of me loves the thought of breaking out my six-pack of abs on Spewer at the beach this April and May!! On a person level, it would be good to get this last 20 or more pounds off and have the body type I've always wanted. I'll certainly keep you posted as to how it is going!
Have a happy Sunday everyone.
Peace,

FROGGIE... Eli is NOT my BOYFRIEND....
he's my SWEETIE!!!
I know how to work my cappuchino machine, but ELI has FANCY one...I've watched him use it, but didn't do it myself...BIG DIFFERENCE!!!
SLAP...Oh GIRL I gained when I quit...that's what has me in the mess now...I gained probably 25 pounds and have to get that off before I can start working on my before weight
I do feel better..I also get those cravings, but they go away just as fast as they come on...I'm so glad I quit...
BKM...It's always good to have another knowledgable football woman on the board...it gets pretty rough around here during pigskin season ;)
Can't wait to meet you too..!!!
MEL..I could not live without my cable connection...You were kinda like a PIONEER WOMAN yesterday....
KAREN...what are you doing reading that from the AAA book??? You could work for the CHAMBER with that knowledge
TV.. been thinking about you and your situation..I'm here if you need to talk...
DEB...WHERE ARE YOU????
LARA..Good to see you. Hope you're back to normal???
SUSAN...Feeling better?? Let us know..
OK...this is a CONFEDERATE weekend...I'm watching GETTYSBURG today....and my ALL TIME FAVORITE.... GONE WITH THE WIND is on next...I'll not accomplish anything today!!!
ALTHOUGH...I did go to PENNEY'S when it opened and bought another pressure cooker ...this one is a 4qt..my usual Sunday morning run to STARBUCKS
and bought two bags of coffee and two boxes of DEBBIE'S favorite ORANGE TEA

Found an old cookbook of mine from La Leche League (breastfeeding support group) and it's a Whole Foods cookbook. It calls for whole wheat flour, etc.... and uses Honey or molasses to sweeten. It uses only whole foods, nothing refined or enriched, so I'm guessing - besides the potatoes, and other no-no's - that all of these recipes are SB legal.
I need to find some agave that you all are talking about, because I can't substitute splenda for honey... how the heck to you work that texture problem out..LOL
Anyone know where I can get agave in my area? I wish I could try it first... cause I'd hate to buy some in bulk online, and hate it.
Well... off to dad's for a superbowl party :)
Have a great Sunday!

HiedieHo All!!!
Just a quick note between trips to visit "john", seems I vaught the bug going around! I hope Fillise and the others in the ame boat are feeling better.
QUILTER - Wonderful pic! You look so familiar like I should know you from the past.
TONI - Welcome. I have stumbled on this plan but have never gone off it.
ZANNE - Inches off!!! Great!
JRED - Hope I find airline prices like that when I plan my trip east in the fall. Congrats on Employee honor.
MEL - Had a neighbor with fibromyalgia, she had good days and bad too. Very disabling during bad times.
ROSALIE - Snow, snow, beautiful snow!!! I am reading a book that takesplace in the Poconos and the author did a very good job of describing a snow storm anf the wonderful quietness in the aftermath. She also did a good job describing the work of digging out......the part I don't miss!!!!!
TV - If you have children then a hysterectomy is a good thing. One of the best things I ever did for me.
I want to thank all for the kind words about disappointing Dr visit. But he is doing tests and if the cause can be found it will be easier to treat. It's not something that's cured.
What the hey!! God put us here to live and that's what I'm doing! The living out weighs the bad times so make the most of it. I'm a lemonade out of lemons person.
Although I do admit to getting down at times and unfortunately I succimb to food, only now it's too much SB legal rather than candy bars!!!
Take care all. Shirley

I love all your posts they're all so interesting. Just got back from town getting my DH some superbowl goodies. And me some salad stuff and some things to help me out here. I'm a little confused about things in the SB book, maybe it stems from in the past I counted carbs. Is there a place here where you write a kind of daily menu? I'd kind of like to get an idea of what you all eat. This is only my second day and I would really like to do this right. And if you get this Agave to cook with do you get the dark or light? Guess I'll be bugging you all to death with questions. But any help you can give me would sure be appreciated.

Well, is everyone ready for football?
I am not really a fan, but you can't help but get caught up in the hipe, at least for this weekend. I would have to say that I would like the Pats to win, but only cause I am originally from Massachusetts.
This weekend has been a night mare for me. My boss told me on Friday that she needed this report done be Monday, and I have been working on it for about 12-14 hours so far. So much for the weekend, at least I can do this at home and I will get paid overtime for it.
My eating has been so out of control on Thursday and Friday, then I realized my Tom was starting Sat. Made sense then. BUt by then the damage was done. I am trying to get back in control and made up for it a little at the gym. Went both yesterday and today and swam 1/2 mile each day. Feels good when I am done and sitting in the hot tub.
Welcome to all the newbies here, great to see more and more people joining us each day. Now if I can only find my motivation again and make the extra efforts to help make the scale move.
well, I need to get back to this report, I be glad wehn the bosses meeting is over and I can get back to the work that I am already way behind on. I don't think I will ever get caught up with all this stuff. Maybe I should figure out what I can skip and just throw it out the window and forget it.
Hope everyone has a great evening and a great week.

Ladies, I had to post this article I found on msn.....I think you will all find it very interesting.
and, 'm sorry I've been absent - BUT I have been trying very very hard to stay OP these past few days in spite of a major mess up over the past week or so. I hope to be back soon - remember, I'm with everyone here in spirit. The job search has taken up an awful lot of my time, and I'm also trying to get things going in the house....have some proposals to write, etc.... Hugs to all....
here's the article....
Insulin Pill Fights Obesity
Anti-Fat Drug Cuts Appetite, Weight Gain in Animal Testing
By Liza Jane Maltin
Jan. 31, 2002 -- As a nation, we're getting fatter. The number of obese Americans has nearly doubled since the early 1990s, and there's no sign of a slowdown, or slimdown, in sight. We all want a quick fix, but so far, that magic bullet has eluded us. Now, researchers may have found a solution. Fat rats given a new pill that mimics insulin, a hormone naturally found in the body, ate less and lost weight.
Insulin is made by the pancreas. It regulates the body's blood sugar and helps control appetite. "Mice without [the ability to metabolize] insulin [eat too much] and are obese," write Ellen L. Air, with Merck Research Laboratories in Rahway, N.J., and colleagues in their study. Injecting insulin into these mice "reduces food intake and body weight."
But any widely available, viable option for treating human obesity would need to be available in pill form. So her team developed a synthetic compound that mimics the action of insulin but can be taken orally.
They then looked at what happened to a group of 40 insulin-resistant fat rats when half the animals received a daily dose of the new drug.
The rats that received the drug ate significantly less than the untreated rats. At the end of the experiment, about two months later, the treated rats had lost a good deal of body fat, although lean muscle mass was about the same in both groups.
The researchers conducted several tests along the way to ensure that the mice were healthy and hadn't simply lost their appetites because the drug made them feel sick.
Although the drug is still a long way from use in humans, these initial experiments "provide proof-of-principle for a novel approach for the treatment of obesity and related metabolic disorders," the researchers write.
If additional animal experiments show the compound to be safe and effective, the team can move on to human trials.
Isn't this what we've been trying to tell people???

Evening All:wave:
Sorry I was MIA today, but better late than never!
Eli made plans for us to go out with Minnie and Morris (his elderly customers) today. I hadn't slept good and woke up later than normal. Didn't feel like walking, but pushed myself to go and ended up doing my usual 4.5miles. By the time I got home and we took showers, etc. found the kids wanted to go with us, it was later than we had anticipated leaving, and getting on the computer this morning was not an option. We ended up (where else) Broward and OLE OLE, which I must say, was exceptionally delicious today! Of course, the Carbolite made the day even better when I found out they have one of my fav. flavors COCONUT! YUMMY!!!! Pig-o here ate a large:^: We also hit Penny's for the sale they had going on-what bargains we got-I didn't get a thing, but the kids, Eli and Morris made out quite well. Things were clearanced priced and we got 35% off, plus another 20% off-things like this give me a natural high!
Eli and Michael went to see AMELIE. This is Michael's 3rd time seeing it-he loves the movie and thought Eli would as well since it's in French-a reason I have the computer to myself tonight!
I have to say, for some reasons, the weekends for me, it's hard for me to get in my water. Hard enough during the weekdays, but harder on the weekends. I doubt I even had 2 cups of water in the last 2 days:eek: I REALLY have to try harder!
Anyhow, I want to take some time to respond to all the posts before it gets much later, so here I go!
TONI, if you haven't read any of my posts on agave in the recent past, in a nutshell, they aren't importing it anymore and whatever stock is out there is minimal and getting scarce. Once the agave is gone, it's gone-though they say they have a new source, supposedly, it's not the same, and it's more expensive. If you can find it, buy it, and don't contemplate finding it later on. The difference between light and dark agave is dark is not filtered and may have a slightly stronger taste, but it's hard to find now than the light and I only have the light, which is just fine. I have 4 cases, thought I had 6, so going to try and order another 2 cases-think that should last me at least 1-2 years. I have soooo many recipes that I had wanted to try using agave, but now I have to be so selective in what I use it in-hate to make something new and have it come out badly-don't want to have to waste any of this stuff! As for the daily menus-we just started doing the FOOD FOR THOUGHT BOARD where you can journal a day, or even more, of the foods you eat. It's optional, as everything is on the board, so if you want to participate in it, just post your menus on the board and you can see others menus as well. Hey, don't worry about asking questions-this is a learning experience and in order to learn, you have to ask;)
FROG, ask Allison what time we'd be allowed to come to the beach house on Thursday. The earlier the better I think. What do you think about doing it Wed-Sun? Also, can you get a list of what's available in the kitchen for us-like a food processor to make hummus? No STARBUCKS, well, I guess BOB will have to be making the coffee I bring!
SOL, I thought about you today. Almost had to pepper spray that stupid little Chihuahua that I sprayed in the past. I'm more pist off that she interrupted my walk! CONGRATS on your walk! You're doing great! I told Eli what you said about the falafels-he laughed!!!
BOB, want me to bring you some SHORTY'S SAUCE up next month with me? Anything else you want? Pita? LMK!
BETH, a falafel is a Middle Eastern food that's made of ground chickpeas and spices (sometimes also made with fava beans). It's shaped into a flat ball and fried. Eaten with tahini (sesamee seed sauce) and is a staple item in places like Israel in a falafel sandwich made with pita bread. Totally vegetarian and really good. I took SOL a good mix (easier and faster than doing it from scratch) and her and Vince are hooked! What's the name of that cookbook you mentioned-sounds like a good one! Ask any of the AL gals if they've been able to find agave, maybe they would know-otherwise, either Frankferd Farms, or I can get you some-it's just the shipping that's bad.
HAPPY, guess what-SOURDOUGH BREAD is just fine! There's an explanation on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD about it. Just make sure it's not filled with preservatives. I get a really good one at WILD OATS made buy RUDY'S. I make a legal milkshake by putting 1 cup of milk, a cup of crushed ice, 1 1/2 packets of Stevia, 1 tsp of carob and a 1/2 tsp of coffee extract into the blender and wiz it around-it's filling and delicious. You can use any type of flavoring-sometimes I put a bit of cinnamon in there as well.
BIGK, the pretzels seem to look to be okay. Just remember to stay to the serving size, as it does have 3grams per serving of sugar. Wonder what the company is going to do once the agave syrup isn't around anymore though! Congrats on the new scale purchase! Just try not to get hooked on getting on it a million times a day like I do. I think after this weeks WIW I'm going to have Lauren hide it from me for the week.
MEL, just reading all the stuff you did made me tired!!!!!
TV, have you sat down and spoken with your Mother about how you are feeling? Maybe if you sit and tell her what's bothering you it will help. I can totally understand about the church situation, and I too think it would look odd if he showed up not just with your Mother, but with any other woman, when he didn't come with his own wife. I sure would love to hear that you AL gals got together-just remember, if you do a CAMERA IS A MUST!!! Yard sales sucked, but thanks for asking!
LDBLOND, glad to see you on the board:) A SB RECIPE BOOK? How many pages did that take to make? Did you copy ALL the recipe boards??? WOW, it's been a year come tomorrow you've been on SB? CONGRATULATIONS! I'm sure you'll get back into the swing of it all, just be patient with yourself, but not too patient;)
SEF, hoppin to the potty I see-hope you feel better soon and it doesn't get worse! Take it easy and relax-for once!!!!
LAMAP, maybe you need another piece of jewelry to get you motivated once again-it worked with the watch-hmmm, maybe some diamonds would help;) I think we all go on a feeding frenzy during those TOM, just as long as you get back OP, I don't think they are going to hinder your loss. Are you going to be able to join us next month in Orlando-hope so this time!
VIV, good to see your post. I got your e-mail, please, bare with me, will try to answer you tomorrow. As you can see, I wasn't even on the board today-have to play catch-up with all the e-mails sitting in my mailbox. Thanks for posting that article-I always like reading these things!
Well, that's it for me for tonight! I'll have the new weekly board up and running tomorrow morning. I also started a new board for our GOALS, MONTHLY WEIGH IN & WEEKLY EXERCISE BOARDS already, so got half my work done tonight!
Please remember that tomorrow is MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any words of wisdom, quotes, etc. please try to post them tomorrow!
Have a great night!

[b]EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!!
Just passing thru...sitting here drooling over RHETT!!! O
I've already fought the battle of GETTYSBURG, seen ATLANTA burn, and after this....ANDERSONVILLE..but I won't be able to stay up for that one...it's on until 4:30 am....now if only it had been on Friday...I would have brewed up some STARBUCKS ESPRESSO and watched all of this from start to finish..
I cooked up twelve pounds of meat for SKEETER's food..I found TOP ROUND ROAST for $1.79 and had them grind it up...that's cheaper than hamburger!!!
I've bagged it up got it in the freezer, and now when it's time to mix, I just have to make rice..
I fixed some baked chicken cooked in fat free cream of celery, 1 tbs minced garlic, three tbs grated parm, 1/3 c lemon juice..wisked it all together and poured over the chicken breast..added some portabello's and baked at 325 until juices ran clear....YUMMY!!!
Hope everyone is enjoying there last evening of the weekend.
Debbie..we will need so much...a pan for the quiche...BIG BOWL for the HUMMUS...CREAM FOR MY STARBUCKS!! OH MY....I better start packing now!!!
Guess I better get back and help RHETT he's about to marry SCARLETT and I don't ....well....I've got to see if I can stop him!!
