Well... I didn't make it to the pool last night... we took too long in the city, and it was over by the time we got back to town! :( Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

Today, I'm off to Curves, and I'm kinda excited because I got a real good deal on some yoga videos last night... hopefully I can try them out this weekend, along with my exercise ball video. It's supposed to be pretty darn cold out this weekend, along with a bunch of snow, so doing something inside sounds great! The problem is that we have house meetings and stuff tomorrow, along with a friend's surprise birthday party, and then we have to pack some more stuff on Sunday... busy, busy, busy! I guess that all the lifting, carrying and packing counts as exercise too, right? :lol:

Anyway, Curves will fill my requirement for today, so I just gotta get to work on my water for the day, and I'm set!

Hi Marvin - thanks for posting this thread! :) Did you make it to Curves? You said it might snow - snow shoveling is great exercise isn't it? At least it feels like it.

I didn't exercise yesterday because I went to a Crop (scrapbooking 6 PM to Midnight) but this morning I made myself get up and go to yoga. I felt like a had a great workout. We were sitting the whole time but we did a lot where we had our arms lifted in various positions for a LONG time and I know my legs and arms have been shaking like I was lifting weights. Then I did 15 minutes on the Eliptical Trainer when I got home. It's supposed to be in the 50s today here, so maybe I can get out for a walk.

Whew! No, I didn't make it to Curves on Friday, Stamper, 'cause we had quite the snowstorm! :eek: It was all I could do to get home safely, so I thought I better not "waste" any time at Curves! Thankfully, I got home safely, and managed to do a bit of yoga and some ball work to make my 15 mins!

Then on Saturday, I got to do some shovelling, and I played in the snow with my doggie... she just loves that! :) And yesterday was time for some vigorous house-cleaning, so I'm set for the streak!

Today, I'm off to Curves, and if nothing else, it'll help me get warmed up! Brrr! It's freezing out.... we've been spoiled so far this winter, and this is the first real cold spell we've had. Trust me, it's taking some getting used to!

Hope you guys are doing well! Let's streak! :D

We're feeling better! Ds is 17 months old. He's finally starting to eat more normally and he's as busy as ever, LOL. I went back to the gym today and did half an hour on a recumbent bike. I'm going to eat good and excercise again, yay:). LOL. I'm a nut, I know. Thanks for starting this Marvin!

Stamper: I had been hoping to go to a crop on Sat night but didn't think I should with the sickness still being in the house. Oh well. Plent more coming up. I've got one on Saturday and there's another on the 26th. My scrapbooks are coming along!

Glad that you're feeling better, Pamela... it's terrible to be sick! And I can imagine it's no picnic when Emmett's sick either! (PS ~ I wish I was as "nutty" as you!)

I had a fabulous workout at Curves after work yesterday, but I don't get to bowl tonight, as I have to go to a dietician's seminar with my mom (who just found out she has mildly high cholesterol)

Oh well, I will just have to do one of my videos tonight! I watched my new "beginner's" yoga one on the weekend! Ouch! I wish I could do all that as a beginner! Methinks I'll put that tape off for a little while until I get a little better at the basics! :) I have a couple other tapes, so I think I'll stick with those for a while! At least until we get into the new house, and I'll be able to do my yoga in the morning without waking dh.. then I can start practising every morning, instead of just sporadically.

Hmmm I could teach classes on being nutty. First stay up really late every night. Next spend a ton of time with my dad. Finally be as silly as possible. Hey it could work:).

We walked The Mall today. We went earlier than usual and got to meet Snoopy (toddler tuesdays!). Since Snoopy wasn't all hot and tired already, he spent a good portion of time playing with ds at Camp Snoopy. I got some cute pictures. I think we walked for about 2 hours today. My hip is a little sore, but not hurting too much. I did 50 crunches too for a challenge.

Now if only Emmett would nap...

Well, I haven't been much of an everyday exerciser since the challenge started.

Sat - 40 minutes of yoga and 15 minutes on ET

Okay - that was great but its been downhill from there. Sunday I did some cleaning and that's sort of exercise, but last night I spent the whole night scrapbooking after I got home from work. Unless I want to count that as hand and wrist exercise, I didn't get in my 15 minutes. My DH made supper. I didn't feel too good though. I only had a glass of milk for supper - but today I had lost a pound.

Tonight I am pretty beat. I was hoping to walk at lunch or after work because it is gorgeous here today - about 60 I guess. I didn't even wear a coat. But I had to work through lunch and worked late. I plan to do some yoga later.

Marvin - it sounds like you are getting your exercise in, even if you've had to adjust your plans. That's great. I saw your reply on the other thread (about exercise burnout). That's a great way to think of it - certain days are "real exercise" and the other days are fun - just more active.

Pam - sounds like you are getting to do your exercise. It's hard when you have to work around nap times (especially if your DS doesn't nap)! When my DD was little, we had one of the jogging strollers because my husband jogged with her so I would take her for walks a lot. Eventually I used one of those cheap little fold up strollers though. It seemed like it was lighter and easier to deal with for just walking. I used to swim a lot then too because the health club I belonged to had a nursery. How many scrapbooks are you working on? Do you do any stamping or use stickers? I do a bit of both. I have 3 finished scrapbooks and 3 in progress. Finished are our wedding album that I redid, vacations from 1981 to 1999, and my DD's baby through preschool years. IP is vacations 2000 + , Christmas's, and DD's school years. I want to start a Heritage album soon.

I use stamps, stickers, whatever I can get my hands on that works! I'm not really working on too many 'set' albums. I'm not very organized, so I just make pages and stick them in an album, LOL. I'm pretty much caught up with Em's first year so I'm happy about that. It's all my childhood pics, etc that I need to do.

It's been too icy and cold here to walk outside:(. We did join the community center and my dad chases him while I work out. It's a pretty good deal, hehe. Otherwise we do a lot of indoor walking. Lots of malls close by and I walk really fast.

Hello everyone. I am new I guess. I haven't been here in over a year, so I had to start all over. I am counting calories and trying to exercise everyday. I work a full time job, so my days are quite full. Stamper, you and I are about at the same weight. I started where you did and I am at about 208 as well. Nice to have someone else traveling the same road as me.:dizzy:

Whew! I'm back! I lost my connection at work yesterday, and didn't have time to go online last night at home, so I totally missed out!

Speaking of missing out, I didn't get any exercise in on Tuesday... that seminar ran late, and then I had to go grocery shopping, so I didn't have the energy afterwards... but I did go to Curves after work yesterday, even though I REALLY didn't want to! So, thank goodness for small successes!

Tonight will be a challenge though... we have to go to my in-laws after work to meet our family accountant, which should take a while, after which I'm sure we'll stay for dinner and a visit. Hopefully, we won't be out too late, as I really want to at least get a short exercise ball workout in.... wish me luck!

Welcome B-Thin! Sounds like you're getting back on the right track... I did the same thing myself a while back, but now I'm back into this thread, and it helps me a lot! :D

Sounds like you guys are really into scrapbooking. I'd like to gett more into it, and have saved a ton of stuff from my wedding two and a half years ago. Hopefully, after the house is built, I will have some time/energy/money to put into it. I especially want to have a scrapbook(s) for my pregnancy(ies) and child(ren)... there's a Carter's scrapbook at my local stationary store that is in that John Lennon Real Love theme, and I want it sooooooo bad! I'm thinking of asking dh for it for Valentine's Day... or maybe that could be my reward for working hard on this streak...? We'll see!

Marvin: you should start scrapbooking! Well, I guess I can't tell you what to do but it does give you something tangible to do other than eating!

I mall walked with my friend today. That was about it. Dh and I had a nice date, so that did a lot for me. It's snowing too! Hehe.

Pam - sounds like you are making the best of the weather situation and getting out to do your walking at the malls. That's a good way to do it - plenty to see while you are walking. I agree about scrapbooking giving you something else to do besides eat. I know a lot of people snack while they do it but I'm always afraid of dropping crumbs or getting something greasy on my photos or paper. Plus I'm too focused to even think about food.

Marvin - I hate to be nosy, but I just wondered- you mentioned about your pregnancy - are you expecting now? I know you were planning to be a while back when I was on the board but I didn't know if you were still in the planning stages or not. Sounds like you are making the best of a busy schedule to get your exercise in.

Welcome Lady Nai - did you get your jump rope and get started? That's good exercise - too hard on my knees though.

B-Thin - welcome. Nice to have someone else at the same weight range. I was down to 205 earlier this week but now at 206. I went out to eat a few too many times this week I think.

My update: Didn't exercise Tues. or Wed. Thursday night I had yoga lessons with my daughter then I got on the Eliptical Trainer for 15 minutes. Friday night I started out on the Eliptical and just couldn't get into it. So I danced for 30 minutes to fast music - haven't done that for a while. I usually add low impact moves so I can get my knees up higher and move more of me than you normally would just dancing. Saturday morning I had yoga (about an hour) and then at home I did 25 minutes on the eliptical trainer. May do yoga today - something light. I felt nausious late last night and today I am achy all over. I can't decide if I am getting something or if I am just sore all over from yoga. Some of the poses we did were pretty hard on my arm and shoulder muscles and when we held the mountain pose after a while all the muscles in my arms and legs were shaking. Have a good week everyone!

It's alright Stamper, I don't mind you asking... but I'm still not pg... I'm in the process of being diagnosed with PCOs (like Jennifer3FC has) and I have my first appt. with a new ob/gyn tomorrow morning, who will hopefully prescribe me something to help me to ovulate (and then get pg!) It's been quite upsetting, and that's what took me away from my focus here a while back. PCOS explains why I have so much trouble losing weight, and though a low-carb diet has been recommended to me, I have a hard time eating with "rules". I'll see what the doctor says about it. But trust me, after my dh and the ladies of my fertility board (www.tcoyf.com), you guys will be the first to know! :lol:

Had a pretty active weekend.. just realized that we are moving out of our house in two weeks! :eek: So, therefore, we're getting right down to the packing and moving. We rented a trailer to store all our stuff in while the house is built, so we moved an awful lot of stuff out there this weekend, so I'm pretty sure I got my 15 minutes in each day! :D

Today, I'm off to Curves! Sounds like you guys are doing good, so I'll leave you all to it!

Marvin - good luck with the treatment. I didn't have PCOS (as far as I know - I'm not really sure what it is - I will have to read up). However, I had trouble getting pg because my cycles were so irregular. My doctor had me take a medicine - it's been so long I can't think what it was but I got pg the second month I took it. It was a drug that induces ovulation but it wasn't one of the ones that tends to result in triplets and quads. There was a slightly increased risk of twins. Anyway it worked.

Oooooo, I'm a little cranky this morning! I went to the doctor's this morning, and she had gone home sick! Aargh! Wait three months for the stupid appt, and then who knows how long until it can be rescheduled? :mad: Her office is supposed to call me, so hopefully, it won't be too long!

Anyway, Stamper, it sounds like Clomid that you're talking about. You take it for 4-5 days right after your period, and it induces ovulation....? Sound right? Glad to know that you were successful with it! That gives me hope.

I have bowling tonight, and I'm glad, because the way my mood is this morning, I sure don't think that I could drag myself to Curves... speaking of which, I found out that they're having a promotion that if you work out a minimum of three times a week for February, you get a free water bottle, so I'm hyped about that! :lol: I love free stuff!

And I borrowed a book from Curves about their weightloss plan, which is basically a lower-carb plan. I'm thinking of just trying to lower my carb intake overall, and see how that affects my weight. Hmmm... food for thought!

(Just looking at my profile... I need to weigh in! Yikes! It'll have to wait until next week though, the famous Aunt Flo is visiting!)

Sorry to hear your doctor canceled out - can't believe they didn't call you to say the doctor wasn't in so you didn't have to go in just to go back home. You are right - it was clomid. However, my doctor had me take a generic version. He said it may not be scientific but he'd had better luck with his patients with a certain generic manufacturer than with the brand name.

Yep, I've heard of that with the generic version of Clomid. I'm pretty sure that is the route that the doctor's going to want to take with me, and I've done some reading up on it... I'm pretty disappointed though, since I'm at the beginning of my cycle, and if I had seen the doctor yesterday, i might have been able to take it this cycle... but now I'll probably have to wait for the next one, and who knows how long that will be? Ahhh...the beauty of unpredictable cycles! ;) I still haven't heard from the dr's office yet, but I'm a bit more resigned to waiting now....

I had a good time at bowling though... I have to say, it's one of my favorite things to do, we've got such a great group in our league this year. Makes for a really fun night!

Pretty tired today, though, since I stayed up to watch 24 last night... have you seen it? It's great! But, it's on WAY too late for me! :lol: Regardless, I'm not really looking forward to Curves today, but I'll go anyway! (Gotta earn that water bottle! :D )

Whew! Yesterday was a great day! I finally got the call from the doctor's office, and I've been rescheduled for Monday afternoon, so I'm pretty happy about that! And when I was at Curves, they were training three new members on the circuit, and everytime they do that, it makes me work even harder... you know, so that I look real impressive? ;) I'm so wierd! But whatever, cause it means I got a great workout yesterday!!!!

Plus, then my dh got back from his business trip early! I really wasn't expecting him back until tomorrow, so that was good! :smug:

Today, I'm doing a video at home. I haven't decided which, but I'm leaning towards my Kathy Smith exercise ball video.... which only takes a half hour, and is a pretty good workout. We'll see though!

How goes it with all of you guys? (read: where are you?) :wave:

Marvin: Glad to hear your appt. is rescheduled - good luck. I know what you mean about working out harder when people are watching. I haven't been so good with my workouts this week - I walked Monday at the mall while my daughter was at piano but didn't do anything Tues, Wed, or Friday. I did yoga Thursday and this morning. I need to clean house later and then I will do a good workout on the ET. I did get a good yoga workout this morning and I feel great. Work has been so grueling lately and when I come home I just feel like I want to go to bed after everything is done. I want to try to make myself start getting up at 5 AM to workout. I've tried before and end up just resetting the alarm but I have to really try to do it. I hate taking two showers a day, which is what I have to do if I work out at night.

Well, today was a rainy day. I stayed home from Sunday School/Church because I had a sore throat when I woke up but was fine later. My DD had a fever and my DH had a higher fever. So they both layed around sick all day and every now and then I got them some meds, water, soup, etc. I think they have the flu. I had a flu shot so I am hoping I won't get it. My DD seems better tonight. She got dressed and seems pretty perky. Since they were both laying around too sick to interupt me this morning, I got a whole hour of yoga done and 30 minutes on the ET. I drank a lot of water too. I think I will make it through this day without breaking my diet too.

Good job! That's great that you got right back on track... I hope you don't come down with whatever it is that your family has! Crossing my fingers for you...

As for me.. ouch! I must have buggered up my back somehow with all the lifting and stuff. Anyhoo, I have appointments with my chiropractor and my massage therapist today... whew, I'm hardly going to get any work done today! :lol: I should be okay to get to Curves after work, I'm hoping. If not, I may do some stretching/yoga tonight, and get to Curves tomorrow in addition to bowling... gotta get that free water bottle! ;)

I was pretty active this weekend with all the moving, so I'm happy about that. Plus, I got started on a new project... I'm crocheting a blanket! Yay! (Okay, let me explain... I'm a granny in a 26 year old body, and I love stuff like this... knitting, crocheting, canning, etc...) :D I taught myself to crochet a while back, and I've made some dishcloths, but this is my first big project, and it's coming out great so far! *Okay, I'm a nerd!* :lol:

Im back.. and 2 lbs heavier :(
I am FINALLY recovering from my illness and ready to get back on track. I sure could use a lil nudge to get myself moving.

I have the mental desire.. just not the strength to follow thru :(

I saw a elliptical trainer at walmart this past weekend for 169. Im seriously thinking about purchasing it just to see if I like it well enough to spend more money on a nicer one. I know the story tho... you get what you pay for! I have a very bad left knee and I really want something to take alot of the stress and impact off of it. I'm thinking this is the way for me to go.

Marv, just to let ya know.. Im a knit-a-holic!! LOL I have been for about 10 yrs now. I knit whole blankets and bedspreads. :lol: I think if it keeps your hands busy, it keeps you outta the cookie jar!!

Im sure glad to be back . Im going to stretch and do my Tae Bo today. First time in over a year. I think this new thread has motivated me :) Headed for the exercise clothes right now.. I'll post tomorrow if I can move!!! :lol:

Marvin, I hope your back gets better soon. Glad to see you are keeping active - just take it easy on your back so it doesn't get worse.

I used to quilt but hardly ever sew at all now since I am always stamping or scrapbooking if I get a spare moment. I agree with Debbie (Honeyrose) - you can't munch when you keep your hands busy, especially when it's something you don't want to get crumbs or chocolate on.

Debbie, glad to hear you are feeling better. It's hard to get back into the routine of exercise but just try to take it one day at a time and see how much progress you make. A few years ago I was in a bad car accident and when I was able to start exercising again all I could do at first was walk around the parking lot at work for 15 minutes. But then a month later I could look back and see how much I'd improved. I have an Eliptical. I like it a lot. It seemed really hard at first but I've worked up from 10 minutes to 30. You're probably right to get an inexpensive one and see if you like it.

Today I got up early and did 30 minutes on the ET before work - YEH - I don't have to take 2 showers. I may do some yoga later.

Welcome back, Debbie! That's great that you're back here, and you know that you can count on us to keep you movin'! I'll have to check at my WalMart for an ET... haven't seen one there yet, but I really wasn't looking either! ;) I'm thinking of seeing about trying a one-time pass at my local gym to try theirs out before I buy one, though. Good luck!

Stamper, great job getting up early to do an ET workout! I would love to be able to do that!!!! Maybe once the new house is built and I'll have room for the ET and be far enough from the bedroom that I won't wake up DH!!!!

My back feels soooo much better today, although I'm still a bit stiff. I'm lucky, my insurance covers "therapeutic" massage, so I'll be reimbursed for that cost! Heavenly! I did get to Curves after work, and had a nice workout. Felt pretty good to stretch out my back muscles!

Finally had my ob/gyn appt. yesterday too, and she wants to do some blood testing on me and analysis of DH (if you know what I mean! ;) ) before she starts me on Clomid.... so it looks like I'll start treatment next cycle. I hate the waiting, but at least there is movement now!! :smug:

i hope you don't mind if i join your thread. i decided today to do something about fitting in exercise, so i need support! i just got off the phone with a friend who told me that it really helps to have people to motivate you to GET STARTED. i used to go to the gym 4 times a wk and work out for 70 minutes, but i decided to take the money i use to pay for my gym membership to get an internet cable connection/subscription. so since then (october) i've been jogging on and off and doing a pilates tape on and off. actually since three weeks ago when i decided to go on WW, i've done no exercise. my reasoning was that i don't want to put the stress of starting a diet and exercise all together. but now i'm used to WW and it's time for me to begin!

Pretty good night of bowling last night, I must say, even though I was quite stiff still. It seems to be going away now, so I'm crossing my fingers I won't do it again when I move this weekend! Speaking of which, I have soooo much to do! I better get busy!

Today is Curves day, and I'm glad! I'm actually looking forward to it again now, even though I'm so overwhelmed with everything else. I don't think I'll have time for weigh-in today, but I'm gonna try and have it done on Friday. I haven't weighed in since about the middle of December! :eek:

Where'd you all go? I'm feelin a bit lonely here girls! :lol:

Anyway, had a dissapointing Valentine's Day ~ romance-wise, but hopefully dh will make up for that on the weekend (in between moving? Yeah right, but let me have my fantasies!) :(

I did however pull out an old Kathy Smith tape (March to Fitness) and I couldn't finish it! :^: I did get my heartrate way up though, and it actually felt pretty good to sweat that much!

I also finally decided to really cut back on the carbs that I eat. I'm going with the new Woman's Day Diet (www.womansday.com./xp6/WomansDay/your_body.xml/0102/0102diet_start.xml) which basically gives you guidelines and you eat a certain number of starches/proteins/etc... per day. I think that I can make a go of it, although I'm not going to bother trying too hard this weekend. We're just going to be too busy moving and such! At least I won't have to worry about getting a workout in! :lol:

Hi everyone. Well, I've been sick with a cold or the flu (not sure which but I had coughing, sneezing, body aches and fever) off and on since Wednesday. Obviously my Valentine's Day wasn't too exciting. I did lose 2 pounds, probably because I didn't feel like eating. Tomorrow I am off work because my DD is off school so I will try to do a little exercise. I am starting to feel better.

Marvin, I hope your move is going well. I'll be interested to hear how your Women's Day diet is going too.

I've been gone a long time! Sorry about that. We were in CA last weekend and dh had an ingrown toenail removed on Tuesday and the meds made him sick! I haven't been excercising other than cleaning house and chasing my toddler, but I will start again tomorrow. I've cut back on my meat and sweets quite a bit too and I'm feeling really good.

Hello Ladies,

My name is Cindy and I have been searching for an active thread with people who are as serious about life improvement as I am. The group I found last Dec. seems to be fizzling out and it is becoming increasingly difficult to stay motivated. I am a committed and reliable "poster", but I need the benefit of a two-way street.

My program consists of exercise 6 days per week (I'm up to 3.5 miles in 45 mins.), water and a variety of eating programs. I have just added calorie counting to my program, but with every meal I try to follow "The Zone" rules as they apply to balancing carbs, proteins and fats. Once or twice a month I allow myself a "free day" just to keep myself from feeling deprived.

My biggest downfall (recently) happened today - I talked myself out of exercising (I use a treadmill). This, to me, was a sign of needing a refreshing support system. Until today, I had walked 6 days per week for 8 weeks without fail. I'm already worried about tomorrow. :?:

Stamper.... geez, we just can't stay healthy, can we? :lol: Take care of yourself, and don't push TOO hard, kay? As for the Woman's Day Diet.... I have to admit to not paying too much attention to eating this past weekend. We got moved and all, and I'm exhausted! Whew!

Pamela! Missed you too! Glad to hear that Emmett is keeping you busy.... I can't wait until I get to chase someone around! (Okay, I'll probably regret saying that eventually!) :D Good to hear that you're eating well too!

As for me, like I said above, I didn't eat "on plan" this past weekend, and I've already screwed it up this morning. I'm gonna try to get back on track for the day though, and hopefully, I'll do better this week!

Plus, they've got our new house about 80% framed already! It was sooo cool to actually see it in physical form! I probably got a cardio workout just walking through it! :lol: Seriously, though, it makes it seem so much more real now!

I totally forgot to get weighed/measured on Friday too! I've been so absent-minded lately! Hopefully I can remember to do it tomorrow when I have more time!

I have to try to fit Curves in today, as I'm not bowling... I have a business function tonight. Then, the rest of the week looks like this:

Wed ~ Curves
Thurs ~ AquaJogging
Fri ~ Curves
Sat/Sun ~ Videos & more packing/moving!

Now that I've written a novel! Let's go, girls! :smug:

Just let me know where/what the next thread will be. I will do my best to keep up. My first group moved over to yahoogroups after start-up, so I will have to learn my way around the 3fc site. I'm so excited about getting to know everyone.

Hi everyone,

I have been exercising 4 times per week the last three weeks and would now like to join a group to keep me accountable. Today I have an appointment with the personal trainer at the gym. She has put together a program for me to follow. I am also trying to fit yoga in twice a week. I will post the rest of my week tonight after going to the gym.

Sunday - Treadmill 30 min
Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Treadmill 30 min, weight training
