Default 30 Something Daily Chat: Monday Dec. 10th

Morning Ladies and Gentleman.

I haven't started the thread in a long time (us traditional early morning folks have been slacking off, eh RR?) so I figured I should do so today.

Renovations are D-O-N-E. I meet with the contractor one last time tonight for a final inspection of the work and the balance owed paid. DW and I are quite pleased with the work that has been done and are already planning the next round. (Not that I have a clue how we'd end up paying for it all. ) There's still plenty of work that needs to be done in the basement before it's all usable, but we have a little spot of heaven now.

On the weight front.....I don't dare say "weight loss" because 2007 has NOT been a good year. I've packed on pounds this year, not lost....and this is based on how my clothes fit, not a scale since mine is dead. (Thought it was the battery but the replaced battery didn't do a thing. Do you guys use manual or digital scales??)

Ever since my good friend packed up and moved to Ontario, I haven't been out for my lunchtime walk. Temperatures dipping into the negative degrees Celsius have also not been helpful on that front. However, with our lives starting to become "normal" again, with the renos completed, perhaps a regular workout routine will be something I can get myself back into. (Wishful thinking....)

Anyway, I'll try and become a regular poster again.
and to everyone who wants/needs them and a special to all the new people.

Good morning!!

Hey Rooster...glad your reno is done. DH finished the basement in our old house...it was so awesome to have that extra space, esp. done the way we wanted. Unfortunately, shortly after it was done our neighbor two doors down (in a townhouse, no less, so you know how close that is!!) was arrested for having the biggest collection of child porn in our county. All he got was two years probation, so needless to say, having two young children, we moved within a few months. Man, do I miss that basement!!

ALicia, good luck with the move, girl. It's amazing what kind of crap you find when you move your furniture, right? We decorated for Christmas last week and moved some couches, found some unbelievable stuff under there. The sad thing is, I usually move the couches to vaccuum a couple times a year. It just accumulates so quickly!! Anyway, hope everything goes smoothly this week. Bet you can't wait to be settled!!

GG..glad you enjoyed your time off. HOpe you get plenty of it in the next few stressful weeks!!

Lisa..how's retail lately?? Hope you're not too crazily stressed!! Oh, and I'm with Lauren, I wear my slippers all the time., I havew the cheapest big fuzzy ones..simply because they are so warm and my feet freeze in the winter!!

So, Jersey girls...yes, maybe we should meet up in the spring!!! It would be lots of fun!!

So, yesterday just took it easy and watched the Eagles game. Gonna clean & bake cookies today. I'm having my annual cookie exchange this Friday..soo much fun...we all get rid of the kids & eat apps. & have cocktails. But....I have 8 dozen cookies to make (I'm talking decorated supgar cookies, very time consuming) not to mention the cookie bouquets for teacher gifts, so I gotta get my rear in gear!!! Probably won't be checking in later unless I just need a break...

Hope you all have a super day!!

pam

morning all...glad to see you starting a thread roo...we missed you starting one up.
Morning pam..hopefully these weeks won't be too bad..but we'll see

Nothing exciting to report except i'm off again today..woohoo. DH and i are going up the road to get some stuff from home depot (we go FIL newer stove we're trying to install) and then we are going to check out a possible place for the pony when he comes up here. Its a pasture only place..but its in my price range...personally my pony doesn't like to be kept in a stall..he gets very bored. He's much happier outside. So hopefully it will be what i want.
And i think i've decided on doing the personal trainig...got one this afternoon.

Check back later guys...got to run!

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone has a pleasant and productive day!

As for me I am taking DD and DS to the docotor. I took DD on Friday thinking she had a UTI and they said she has bronchitis. She got antibiotics and a nebulizer treatment and she has a follow up today.
DS is going for his 4 month check up which means shots which means he is going to be cranky which means its going to be a long day.

Mornin' All...

RoosterDude! Yeah, you're alive and well! Glad to hear that the bathroom is finished. Big tub? Fancy shower? Double vanity? And, most importantly ... a commode. I just read that Joyce Meyer ("christian" preacher) had a $20,000 marble commode installed (WTF?).

Pam ~ Decorated sugar cookies ~ is there anything neater? Sure does beat a marble commomde in my opinion;-). Adults and kids just love pretty cookies. I'm having a cocktail/cookie party on 12/23. Throw some good suggestions my way please. This is the first time that I've ever done this.

GG ~ hope that all works out with the pony. DD takes lessons and the place where she takes them have almost all of their horses outside. There are stalls but often they're empty. She is loving her riding lessons. It's costly but DH and I have moved some things around so that she can keep taking them for as long as she'd like. Already I can see a difference in her. She's doing something different from the other girls and she works so hard at it.

tjjsmom ~ hi there. Good luck with the doctor visits. Not my favorite thing to do... Sometimes though I think that it's harder on the parent than the child LOL.

Excellent day on this end. I cannot believe how much better I'm feeling these days since quitting Accutane. I go to see my dermatologist on Wednesday and I'm not looking forward to it. He won't like hearing that I've stopped taking the stuff. Someone just told me that there is a (Accutane)topical cream that works well but doesn't have the side effects like the pill does. Hope so! Lots to do; clean up after the weekend, laundry, etc., etc.. so best get my buns in motion. My weight is staying the same. I have no goal for December other than not going UP. I haven't been able to take my walk outside since Thursday ~ too icy here. Have a great day everyone ~ Joan

Hi All!

Can you believe I've been BUSY all morning?! For the first time!! Wow, I don't know how much I can take!

Joan, Do you like shortbread? I made these awesome Scottish shortbread cookies last night with the boys. OK, I made them, Peter cut a couple shapes and ate them! I LOVE shortbread and my mom usually buys a tin if Walker's every year around this time. Gran loved shortbread too. Anyway, I found this recipe on Allrecipes.com and although they didn't come together real nice, the end result was awesome. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Scottis...IV/Detail.aspx. BTW, I made shortbread into shapes because I don't like sugar cookies...too sweet!

TJ, aww, poor DD. Poor DS too! Are you BF'ing? I know some people that actually BF while their baby got the shots and it helped tremendously. I was never coordinated enough to do that descretely...I'd have a boob hanging out! Sorry to hear DS has to have surgery. Hope it's nothing major.

GG, do they have some kind of overhang for bad weather for the pony??

Pam, have fun with the cookie party!

Roo!! It's soo good to see you! Glad to hear you're going to try and be more of a regular again. RR is MIA too...

Good morning everyone! Had a busy weekend here. We got a tree and got it decorated, and the rest of the house as well. Helped oldest DS make chocolates yesterday and made a few hats. I have a house full of kiddos today. They all got here early. What a wonderful way to start off a Monday, lol. DH will probably be working late tonight. I took the older two kids Christmas shopping yesterday. That actually went pretty well. Thought we would be there forever, but they actually had a plan. Amazing for teenagers. lol I even got my Christmas cards finished, now I just have to print out labels and put stamps on 'em and get them out in the mail. Have a few Christmas presents to finish making so I can get my boxes mailed out before it gets too late. Well I had better get busy doing my things while the kids are playing.

Lauren ~ I love shortbread! I'd never had Walkers until a friend brought me some after having my third child. She threw in a jar of lemon curd to go with it. Great stuff. Not that it needed anything, it tasted so good on it's own, except maybe a cup of tea;-).

DH makes a shortbread cookie called "eggnog spritz" that is wonderful. If you like eggnog, you'd love this cookie.

Why are we talking about sweets on the 3FC website??? We should be talking about broccoli, carrots and lettuce!

lol at joan- yes we probably should be talking brocolli etc...but sweets are more fun. I did go check out the pony place today...looks nice. Nothing fancy but good pastures...and yes there is a place for pony to hang out in if its bad weather. There's a poll barn...but in all honesty...most of the time my horse will hang out in the rain.

hey to all else. Well i looked at my finacnes...and discovered i could do the personal traininer...so i' m going to sign up today. It may put a little dent in my savings but i won't be suffering from it. Especially if i start working a day or two extra a month. But we'll see. I think its totally worth it right now

Alright...going to run and do some other stuff...by all.

I'm taking a break from cleaning... I am still not used to the space that we have in this new home. It's pretty amazing though how fast it fills up LOL. The only negative is that there is sure a lot more to clean! I'm not complaining though as I just love this house.

I just took the time to read the weekend posts...

Pam ~ The weirdo got 2 years?! That is just wrong. You were wise to move. There's no way that I'd stay.

tjjsmom ~ why is your son having surgery? I hope it's nothing too serious.

GG ~ The personal trainer might actually save you money in the long run. Fitting into old clothes would be nice!

Time to get clean another bedroom and bath. Later ~ Joan

skinny...it doesn't quite feel like the holidays until the decorations are up. What kind of gifts are you making?

LBH: the kids did great DD has slight asthma so she has to start on singular tonight and continue with the nebulizer. DS did really well only cried for a few minutes. He has a congential heart defect called tetrology of fallot. He was supposed to have open heart surgery last month but they postponed it until the spring. That is why I have been home so long but I can't afford to stay out until the spring so I am going back next month and then going out again for the surgery. We are doing our annual holiday baking on Sunday I am going to try the shortbread cookies.

gatorgal...goodluck with the personal trainer. My sister used to have one and she loved it. She used to write down everything they did together so when she didn't have the money for one she could do it on her own.

tj, I hope your little ones get to better health soon. That must be scary. How old are they?

I don't know much about baking cookies, just eating them. My favorite is chocolate chip. However, I've tried to give up all those things that I truly love because I know I could never eat just one cookie. I can't even have them in my house.

It seems like everyone is having a great Monday! Talk later.

Hi all! I'm new to 3FC! Technically I'm 29 but I turn in 30 in just a few months so I hope it's ok that I play a long! I didn't think it would be worth it to get all set up in the 20-something club only to move in a few months!

I work full time and have two young boys (one almost 3 and one 8 months)

I started "Fat Smash" today.
I started to diet in June 2007 and have lost 21 pounds but have found myself at a stand still so I'm trying something new.

Nice to meet everyone! I have to run - going up to the hospital to meet my brand new nephew who was born just a few hours ago!!

tj -sorry to hear about your son...hope that when the surgery occurs it goes well.
joan - you are right...it might help some...but once i get out of the 10's i'm out of luck...the lowest i've ever been in my life was a ten...but trust me..i'm glad to see most of my 12's almost gone..and hopefully i'll be eventually saying goodbye to the 10's. I think my health is definately worth the cost
all this talk of cookies...espicailly shortbread..i can't have shortbread in the house..that's a huge weakness of mine. I think (once DH gets our stove it), i'm going to make him some gingerbread before i leave for my trip..hopefully he'll have some of them gone before i get back LOL

welcome lola and good luck...we all are a very supportive bunch here!
