Morning! I went to a show opening last night and had a blast. I bought a bowl and will have my morning oatmeal out of it. :) It is fun having other potters' work- especially if you know them!

I sold my nesting bowls on Etsy last night, so I am happy! I slept ok, and my foot hurts from standing so long last night, but I plan on working in the garagio most of the day, so I feel upbeat!

We are into the holiday season, lets make it the best one ever for staying on plan!

Hello to everyone... this diet seems like such a healthy way of living, dieting and eating that will also work for my family. My current diet has me spending hundreds of dollars of each month on supplements, drinks, bars etc. Do you find this diet to be inexpensive, easy to stick to when you are out of the house / eating out at restaurants. If anyone could please give me some information how it all works or if there are any websites, what is your success.

Thank you for the help! Julie

Hi Julie! I find Sugarbusters to be very easy to follow at home and away. It is very healthy, and sensible. It is based on the glycemic index and you basically avoid high glycemic foods, like white flour, white sugar, white rice, white potatoes, corn, pineapple.... You are allowed to have 100% whole grains, like whole wheat bread, brown rice, and sweet potatoes are ok. When eating out, I find I can stick to plan if I just think a bit and make wise choices. For instance, at a steak place, I will ask for steamed vegetables instead of a baked potato, though at times I will get a sweet potato and ask for the butter on the side. Fast food can be a bit of a challenge, but some places are not offering whole grain buns, etc. You can always carry your own and put a burger on it instead. I will throw away at least half the bun in pinch, only using it to keep my fingers clean! :) My family has eaten essentially the same things I do for years. My kids are all grown now, and the two that still live at home will buy their own junk food, since I don't buy the stuff. It is hard at times having it in the house, but I am not too bad about it, since I tell myself it belongs to them! I highly recommend reading the book so you understand the program. It is easy though. The only counting you have to do is to check the grams of sugar in processed foods and make sure it is less than 3 grams per serving, and count 3 or less servings of starchy carbs each day. If you have any questions, or anything, ask away.

Monet, thank you for your input... do you lose significatn weight on the Sugar Busters if you adhere to the eating? Is there an induction period? Is the book just called Sugar Busters :dizzy: ? I have another 20 to go...

I did lose close to 20 lbs, but the plan I am currently on is just getting to expensive and I really don't want to have to place huge orders each month. This sounds easy and healthier for the family. I would appreciate any menus or further reading until I can get a hold of the book. Would like to start NOW.

Thanks again!

In need of an update.... My last visit to the SB board was Sept 2003.
I see a few names that I recognize but I'm curious about Deb.. Debelli the Moderator back in 2003. Is she no longer on the board? Does anyone keep in touch? How is she? What a whirlwind.. enjoyed her posts so much. Hope all is well with everyone.. I plan to back for much needed support.

Thanks..

Ellen

JULIE: Go check out the recipes, etc. Basically, to get started watch that any processed foods have less than 3 grams of sugar per serving, eat 100% whole grains, and do NOT eat corn, white flour, white rice, white potatoes. If you plan some menus including foods you like, we will all critique them for you.

VR: No, Debelli is no longer on the board. She has not posted for several years now. I think BOB was in touch with her for a while, so you could ask her. Welcome back.

Good Sunday morning. Gee Dec. 1st snuck up on me. I've got to go Christmas shopping next week. All is fine here in this mixed up mess of a place. We went grocery shopping yesterday and got stocked in. It was so busy and they had so many special things out for the holidays. I'm not doing well on my eating I've got to get back on track.

Monet - So happy you sold your nesting bowls. How cool that you're doing good with your pottery.

VR- Welcome back so glad you're here.

Bob- Hows work going? Watched any good movies?

GOOD AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!

I've calmed down from last night and today is the start of the CHRISTMAS SEASON for me. I've been to the grocery, picked up a perscription and now I'm ready to start my laundry.

TONI...I watched a movie last night that I laughed uncontrolably all the way through. "I NOW PRONOUCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY" with Adam Sandler and Kevin James. I swear, it was the best comedy I've seen in a while. With all you're going through, you need to see this movie. How are you feeling today?

VR...WELCOME BACK...It will be good to see you back on the board. Debbie left the board a couple of years ago without notice to any of us. I kept in touch with her for a while, but not now. She and ELI still live in Miami, her Son is about to graduate from YALE, her Daughter is now in college, and I can't remember where Lauren is going, but is studying DRAMA.
How have you been? You'll have to fill us in...GLAD YOU'RE BACK!!

MONET...GEORGIA IS GETTING SCREWED OUT OF THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP....The BCS is picking LSU and I'm sure that even MISSY would tell you, that's not right. THEM DAWGS will still get a good bowl bid as will TENNESSEE so all is not lost.

JACKIE...DID YOU SEE THE VOLS TOSS THE GAME AWAY???? Just wasn't meant to be. I see THE CATS lost their game Saturday...not good....

OK EVERYONE...I'm off to start the washer...I'll check back in later.

Hello! I spent a lot of time in the garagio today. I am working furiously to get all my Christmas presents done as well as the special orders I have. I am hoping to have all Tom's family's presents done by December 14 when we are going to visit his mother. :yikes:

 I will be back tomorrow! Time for bed! Sweet dreams!

Happy Monday Ladies

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was busy. Sat, we painted the garage. Now I like to start something and be done with it immediately. I thought this was going to be a 2 hr job. Ha. We had to move everything out, clean the walls, trim and then paint, then move everything back. I think we got most of it back last night about 6:00. I quit about 2 Sat and did some shopping. Yesterday we shopped a little after church, but then I came home and started cleaning. Then to the grocery and then to dinner. Weekends should be one more day.

Toni, I'm so sorry you are still feeling bad. I know those things can linger forever. My DH's did. His were quite painful. How is the house coming? What is the estimated completion date?

Bob, That was a tough game. I really thought the Vols were going to pull it off. Just like I thought the Cats would. I was torn on who to pull for. So DH was pulling for LSU, so I pulled for the Vols. (sorry Missy). I think LSU belongs in the BSC game, but not Ohio State. Their schedule is not tough enough. We are contemplating on going to the Music City Bowl.

Monet, glad you sold your nesting bowl. Pretty soon you will have you own little thriving business going. You won't be able to keep up.

VR. I was here in 2003 but under the name Jack-K. I think I remember you. Welcome back.

Ramswife, :welcome: This is a great group and a great WOE. I lost 105 lbs on this WOE. Lost 8 the first week. It is so simple to follow. Not expensive except I think fruit is expensive. I'm sure not as expensvie as buying all that prepared foods. Ask away any questions. Someone will have an answer. Give us your menues for awhile and we will help you.

My Bf today will be a ww mini bagel with cream cheese (lite) & coffee.
Snack: a banana. Bananas are not legel, but I take so many diuretics, I have to eat one a day.
Lunch will be salami, cheese and trisquits and a tangerine.
Dinner; ww spagetti and a salad.

Better get busy, I have tons of filing to do. Anyone want to help?

Toni48

Howdy all. Think I'm feeling better today. I'd better cause I've got allot of shopping to do tomorrow. Today I'm getting my son's last box to Iraq mailed cause he'll be moving around soon. Can't believe soon he'll be home. I'm so excited. And I know so is he. Not much else going on.

Solly- The carpet takes two weeks to get here and hopefully the carpet guy will come fast. We also have the guttering to put up. I'm hopeing that will be within these next two weeks then we'll be done with that part. Your menu looks good.

Monet- Hope you get it all done. What wonderful gifts your pottery will be.

Well I'm off. Have a good day.

I'm cruising through and stopping long enough to say hello to everyone.

Kate cooked a pot of PINTO's and I fixed her a small skillet of cornbread.

Have a "Sugar Buster!" book question:

Where does it say to keep ur sugar grams in processed foods to 3 grams or less?

BTW-- I finished the '98 ed. of "Sugar Busters!" and found out by trial and error in my library computer search engine that they have the 2003 edition of "Sugar Busters!" available for me to put a reserve order on it... augh.

Hi everyone. Just a quick check in. I just added up November's totals for the shop and did quite well!! I was even able to pay some of our credit card bills, which is mostly how I funded the shop with 0% interest. I have many days when I find myself sitting on my butt crocheting by the heater and listening to Christmas music, but then I look at my books and see the shear amount of people that have come in for a haircut or color or perm and I'd have to say I'm doing better than I expected!! I already have $300 stashed for January's rent and all my December bills are paid and in the mail. Now I have to do my taxes. The $300 is mostly saved tips in my checking account and a $50 customer I had on Saturday, but my books have showed a loss both months, so I shouldn't have to pay too much in taxes...if anything at all. I'm new to it all.

Anyhow...I have been feeling a little sick at night lately from snacking too late and eating dinner too late. I told Derek yesterday, "That's it...no more eating dinner past 6-6:30 and NO SNACKING and more things like lettuce and fruits. Working full time has definitely made me more apt to reach for the convenience foods and you all know what that means. I just don't like how I feel. Its not even about weight loss anymore...I just want to feel better.

In other news...Derek got a call from Kinney's that they want to interview him. So, if you guys think of it, send up prayers for him that they come through for us. A job with them would mean so much to us. No more unemployment, we'd have excellent benefits and he'd have a job for life! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We could really use it!!

Okay...have to go get the boy moving for school. By the way, he's doing GREAT in first grade. The teacher has him in a leadership role, being in charge of a reading group of kids that are struggling and he helps them out while the teacher takes a different group. He's quite proud of it and the teacher says he's a great friend to the kids he's helping and does a great job. I'm very proud of him. :D

Okay...I'm off.

Just a fly by! I am SO busy trying to get stuff done. I have to get a lot done by next week and so I need to be throwing it all today and tomorrow so it can dry adequately.

TECH: I am so glad you are doing so well in the shop! I will be praying for Derek! Keep us posted!

TONI: I am glad you are feeling better!

BOB: You never came back! :(

TEA: As I mentioned in your other thread, I can't remember where in the book the 3 gram rule is. I don't have time right now to re-read and find it. I will when things settle down, but I am a potter and this is my busy season. I don't think the newer version is too different from the old one, but since it will be fresh for you, let us know what you think!

Good morning ladies, oops! it's afternoon.

Got a few packages wrapped last night and ran out of paper and tags. Got up this morning and did 15 min on the :tread: Hoping to go to the gym tonight. I am trying my best to be 100% 90% of the time. I know there are a few parties planned and I will be off plan. So I have to be as good as I can now to make up for those parties. This is a tough season. I am trying to walk every morning. That's my plan, now to stick to it.

Monet, we understand how busy you are. Get your stuff done.

Bob, send me some of that cornbread. Do you make it from scratch. I always use a box "Jiffy".

Tech, you are off to a great start. You should get lots of business for the holidays. Sending prayers for Dereck's job. He deserves it.

Toni, Your son will probably be home before he even gets the box. It will be here before you know it. I am so happy for you.

Tea, I think the older book is better. But I don't think there is much difference. Carrots are added back in the new one I believe.

Rayoflight, This is a great group for support. Sounds like you are doing good w/o your sugar. Our group is small right now but it will pick up. It is important to come here everyday for great support and help. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Breafast was so good today, Oatmeal with blueberries, walnuts and milk. Yum!

Lunch was a salad with ham and those Bran crackers & a banana. Has anyone tried those Bran crackers. They are great. I love the Herb & Garlic ones. WW too!

Better get some work done. Have a great evening.
Dinner will be a roast with green beans, carrots and another veggie.

o.k. I will check in here every single day except weekends because I don't have access to a computer.

I was totally and completely turned around by William Dufty's Sugar Blues and have been on and off sugar via 30 days here and 30 days there. However, when I eat it I always want more so this is something that *I think I'm much better without. No one takes not eating sugar seriously because even poetry is written about being sweet,.....and it does taste so good --- how could anything so great be so bad for you.

Boy, I think TONI was pretty excited to get her shopping done!

I got a good bit done in the garagio today, but not as much as I wanted. I loaded up the kiln and turned it on low to warm up and dry the stuff I need to fire. Unfortunately, a platter I was making for a special order cracked. I tried to repair it, and will see in the morning if I was successful. I hope so, cause it was a LOT of work.

Tomorrow I have to throw plates. LOTS of em! :)

Good morning ladies,

Whew! I am worn out. I think I got to finally sit down last night at 10:45 and went to bed at 11:00. I am still worn out today. I did force myself to get up and got 25 minutes on the :tread: Went to the gym last night and got a good 60 minutes for more in. I will see how I feel tonight before I commit to going.

I finished wrapping all my gifts last night. I am finished with my youngest DD and DH, need to do some fore on my other DD. My SIL wants some gun, so he will have to go with us to pick it out. He is so into hunting now.

Monet, I am sorry your platter cracked. I guess that is the uncertainty of pottery. You never know until you open the kiln. Hoping you can fix it.

Toni, congrats on getting your shopping done. I am close to you, ti is such a good feeling.

Nancy, I think anything that tastes good is not good for you. I don't come here on weekends either. That is fine. Post some menues and we will check them out for you.

Bob, Working hard or hardly working?

I sure hope some energy kicks in soon. I am really dragging. Have a great day.

Morning everyone. Boy its windy and cool here, cloudy and yucky. But I'm sitting here having coffee and watching it out the door window. The chimes are ringing all around my house. I plan on going to the next little town and I saw some nice candles in their little store there and I think I want to get one for a gift to add to my other stuff. I need now to start wrapping and to make my DIL's stocking so I can get it in the box to mail this week end.

Monet- Sorry about the platter and I'm sure hopeing you fixed it. Good luck with the rest of the stuff.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

Sorry I didn't get back the other night, and missed yesterday completely!
We're really busy at work and believe me, I'm getting in my exercise..I'm running all over our suite! Our Christmas party is Friday night. They are having it at one of the COuntry Clubs and it will be buffet. That will make it easy to pick and choose. I've eaten at this dining room before, and the food is FABULOUS! I'll report back on Saturday about the evening!

TONI...I know you're glad to have that shopping done. We're doing something different this year. Only the KIDDO'S are getting gifts. My SIL made a good point...all we're doing is exchanging money and the Adults can get out and buy what they need when they need it but the Kids can't.

MONET...I'm so sorry your platter cracked....remember my first mugs??? OYE!! When will James be home for Christmas?

JACKIE...GOONESS GIRLFRIEND...you've been busy...slow down or you're gonna make yourself sick! How's RUDY???

NANCY...I can't remember if I welcomed you or not, but we're so glad you're here!

I'm off to eat some supper....FRESH CABBAGE and ROASTED YELLOW SQUASH that I know of, will have to dig for something to go along with it.

Oh....JACKIE...you asked about my cornbread. I make mine from scratch using ONLY white cornmeal, 2 eggs and buttermilk...all mixed up and into a black skillet at 425 degrees for about 30 minutes. JIFFY IS THE DEBIL around here!

Morning! I have to unload the kiln, glaze and fire again. Then I need to trim plates, and finish up decorations on a vase. I worked until after midnight last night and could not fall asleep until sometime after 2...and woke up at 7:30..my usual time. I don't feel too tired yet. I may need a nap this afternoon.

BOB: James comes home just about every weekend. Sunday is his birthday, so they are giving him half of tomorrow off. He will fly in from Newark early afternoon. I kind of think he will have a week off at Christmas. Tom on the other hand, doesn't get any vacation days, so he will work extra hours the week of Christmas to make up for it. That is one bad thing about being a contractor.

TONI: My thoughts are that a little of some no no is not going to hurt you, as long as it is just a little! If you want cornbread, then go out to lunch and order a corn muffin with lunch. Then you get it, and you don't have to control how much you can have, and passing up on the leftovers.

SOLLY: Yeah, that is the nature of pottery and it can be maddening! :) I hope you can find a solution to your energy deficit. I know how you feel. I am feeling MUCH better with the increase in thyroid meds now, but for a while I could barely drag my butt out of bed! I have not even started to do Christmas shopping for my family and her you are done and have it all wrapped!

Happy St. Nick's Day.

My stockings are filled. Not without incident though. I did not have anything for my DH's stocking. I wanted to get him a new American flag. I ran up to Meijers before work. Of course I was going 100 MPH and I had on new boots. I started to slip and caught myself. Then I as I was racing down the store, I slipped, turned my ankle and fell to the floor. No one was around. I pulled myself up by the boxes on display. Limped to the back to get my flag. By this time I am shaking and burning up. I have a not on my knee and my foot hurts. Most importantly, I skinned the toe of my new boots. I did tell someone that I fell and they needed to put out signs about the floor being slick. They were buffing them and I think that and my shoes being new, caused me to fall. Great way to start your day.

Today is my babiy's birthday. 25 years old. I can't believe it. I guess we will go out for Mexican tonight and then Sunday my other DD & SIL will go to a nice dinner somewhere to celebrate.

Toni, it is cold and windy here today. I hate it already. I do believe it is supposed to be in the 60's this weekend, but rainy. I agree with Monet, get some cornbread while you are out and enjoy it and be done with it. Denial is our worst enemy. Moderation is our friend.

Bob, have fun at your party. A buffet is a great idea. Rudy is fine. He loves to put everything underneath my tree. My tree skirt is al over my family room. I am leaving my packages downstairs until Christmas day b/c I am afraid he would chew them while we are gone. Getting his first haircut this weekend. I bought some cornmeal but the directions seemed like a lot of work. I like Jiffy.

Monet, you were probably so wound up when you went to bed. You were most likely still thinking about all the things you have to do when you got in bed. Hope you get lots done today. Take a nap.

Nancy, How are you today?

Better try to get something accomplished here. I hate when you day starts off bad. Have a great day

Good morning you all. Sitting here with my coffee looking out the window and yee gads its only 25 out. Brr..... I need to get my lazy butt out of the chair and go wrapped my box for a little soldier in my Scott's platoon that needs some Christmas cheer. I've got to get it off today. Then off to get a couple of things in the next town. I forgot a gift.

Solly- You poor thing I hope you're alright. That sounds terrible. And to skin your boot on top of everything. DH's stocking is the hardest to fill. I never can think of anything to put in and I'm always looking.

Monet- Hope you get everything done. And enjoy it as well. Take a nap today.....

Okay I'm off to wrap.....

Greetings!

I use to post here years ago when Debelli was the moderator. I recently reread sugarbusters the 2003 edition and would like to post here again. I use to post under the name Mercy. I just started doing sugarbuster again yesterday and plan to cointinue. I remember a few of the names from before. I know this is a great broad and I'm Back. LOL I've tried the weight watchers core but in my opinion Sugarbusters is better.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

Well, the cold weather is gone again and the humidity is back up!
Another busy day at work, but I'd rather it be busy than slow. My day just flies when that happens.

JACKIE...I'm sorry you fell, but I JUST LOVE THAT MEIJERS!!! When Cathy lived in L'ville, y'all must have lived really close together. She was off of OLD HENRY ROAD. I wish you had filled out those papers...I would have demanded it...
Now, about the cornmeal...I'm afraid that I didn't say SELF RISING CORNMEAL MIX (either Three Rivers or Martha White) I bet you bought the kind that's not self rising. Bite the bullet and next time you're at the store, pick up a small bag. If you don't have a black skillet, use a 9x13 pan. Put some cooking oil in which ever and get the pan hot. Usually while it's heating up (and I mean hot enough to sizzle when you pour in the batter) I mix up my batter. Pour it in the pan and into the oven (425) and bake about 30 mins. Make sure it's really good and brown on top and don't make it too thick (or it won't get done). Serve with your PINTO'S or VEGGIE SOUP or with what ever you've fixed for supper...OH MY GAWD....it's good!

MONET...I didn't know that James came home that much. Is he in NJ all the time now? Give him a big ole BIRTHDAY HUG http://bestsmileys.com/birthday1/2.gif from his AUNTIE'S here on the board!
HOW'S THAT LITTLE TWO LEGGER doing? Christmas will be so fun with him this year!

TONI...That's so nice of you to remember someone who need CHEER! Did you get anything done today?

MERCY...WELCOME BACK!! Now stay put!

I'm off to fix some supper...

Darn two days after Thanksgiving I got a hold of some sugar. Since then I've been eating horrible. Send the wagon I need it bad. I need veggies. I started to go out today and it started sleeting so I stayed in. We're supposed to get that ugly ice tonight and I'll tell ya my deck is slick.

Bob- Hope you have a good evening. I have no idea whats for dinner but it better be healthy for me.

Have a good evening all....

Hey ya'll--

I got the new edition of Sugar Busters! earlier this week, but have yet to really read it in depth.

I heard from a fellow moderator that The Rosedale Diet follows Sugar Busters to a certain point... I finished reading that book.

Does anyone know of any cookbooks that follow "The Rosedale Diet" plan closely? (I noticed Sugar Busters has their own recipe book available for review/purchase).

Thanks!

Morning! I am up early. I am such a good wife...I just made Tom some espresso. :) Of course I made myself some too! :coffee:

I have to unload the kiln today, and I am hoping :crossed: that the special order mugs are awesome! Then I need to load and fire a bisque. So much to do! But I seem to be doing a lot, so I am feeling pretty good about it.

Last night I had THREE sales on Etsy! One was for three items too! I was pretty excited. Unfortunately, that means I have to go to the post office! I can do it today though, now that I moved all my thrown plates off the hood of my car.

MERCEE: Welcome back! It is good to see you again. As Toni said, the board is extraordinarily slow right now, but should pick up a bit after the New Year. I grew up in Oak Park, by the way. Got snow yet?

SOLLY: I hope you are not sore from your fall! Be careful!

TONI: How are your shingles doing? Better? Get off that sugar! You know you will feel better if you do!

BOB: That is exactly the way I make cornbread! Except I flip it for a few minutes to brown the top a bit. Learned from my mother in law, so it is traditional southern! And me a yankee from Chicago!

TEA: I have no idea if Rosedale has a cookbook. You might want to do a search on the internet and see. As for Sugarbusters, there are tons of recipes on the recipe board on here for it....

Morning all!!
I am glad to be back on the boards. I have a question is it okay to have cornbread? I thought it was not allowed.( I still eat it sometimes) I make beans all the time. I make my cornbread the same way as BOB my parents were from the south. Sometimes my kids ask me to make Jiffy (they like it because it is sweet).

Bob- I will stay put this time.
Monet- I have lived in the south suburbs all my life. My husband is from Chicago the northside. I have friends in Oak Park it is a beautiful place. We have snow about 3 inches and are expecting sleet and snow tomorrow. That's Chicago!
Toni - :rollpin: Get back on the wagon!!! I hate when I fall off.

Well ladies I hope everyone has wonderful day!!

Ellen
12-07-2007, 12:15 PM
MERCEE: No, corn is still not allowed, but if you remember BOB, you remember she is just incorrigible on these things! ;) I think we all agreed that is it better to occasionally have some then pine for it then fall off the wagon big time over it. That said, I am a diabetic and I check my blood sugar regularly. I find that wheat raises my blood sugar levels more than corn. A friend of mine, who is also a diabetic, is the opposite. Wheat doesn't bother him at all, but corn makes his levels skyrocket! It is an individual thing.

Good morning guys,

...sometimes I miss it, like really miss and want some following a sugarless dinner or something. I would just really like to follow through on something that I believe to be true for gawd's sake!!!

I am compensating though by eating more FAT which I understand has the same effects on your blood sugar levels as sugar.....!!!! One step at a time......

You guys sound nice and friendly. I belonged to another website and got kicked off because I always posted about how happy I was not eating sugar. Apparently this was step 6 of "her" program and I wasn't focused enough on "her" step 1 or 2 for that matter. She accused me of having my own "program." It was a very awful experience. And expensive. So I'm glad to be here and I'm even gladder to be off of sugar.

Happy Friday Ladies,

I'm sure glad it is Friday. My foot is quite sore. It is swollen. I can walk, with a limp. I am trying to keep it propped up.

Tomorrow, My DD is having a birthday party for herself at our house. Since they don't get going until 11 and I would be going to bed, we are staying at a motel. One of her friends works for the Marriott and got me a comp room. So we are going to try to go shopping on some downtown streets and then go to church and eat and then we have to go back home and pick up the dog and take him with us. I will sneak him in in my doggie purse. I guess they don't want us at the house as much as I don't want to be there. Although my DH would probably love it. It loves talking to the guys from grade school days.

So I have to get up, clean some, get my hair colored and cut, clean some more and hopefully leave. No since cleaning too much as I am sure we will have to do it again Sunday.

Toni, I hate filling men's stockings. I never know what to use. I normally buy some cologne for my DH, socks. This year I bought a 4way screw driver for him and my SIL. I ususally do some food gift cards for my SIL. Stay warm.

Mercee, Welcome back. I do remember you. I used to be under the name Jack-K. I agree SB is the best WOE. I have been doing WW with my DD's and like SB much better. I have always used Jiffy cornbread. I love it. I guess b/c it is sweet.

Tea, There are plenty of recipes here. Don't know anything about the Rosedale Diet.

Monet, Wow, 3 items is awesome. Just in time too. Hope your mugs turned out. I had to laugh about the plates being on your car hood.

Bob, look what we have started. Now everyone wants cornbread!!. I love busy days too, if I am idle, I want to eat. That is a different Meijers. Mine is on Hurstbourne Lane. Close to Bardstown Road.

Guess I had better get some work done here. Have a great day and a great weekend. Talk to you Monday.

Good to meet you!!!!!!!! How long have you been off of sugar. I have never been off it this long - Since August 2 and had ice cream 3 times and that's it for gawd's sake.

I love that you have actually met some from here. Do you know that I don't know of ANY real live people in or around my life who don't eat sugar EXCEPT last week I meet a woman in another department who doesn't eat any sugar, bread, chicken now, pasta, rice etc.....I love it!!!

Afternoon all. I got back from shopping in the next little town over. I think I've got all my Christmas gifts bought now. The fun begins now all the wrapping and packing. I'll feel so much better when there in the mail. I stopped and had soup and a sandwich at a little cafe. Think I'll make a pot of soup tonight. Our carpet came in today and the store brought it out so we have a big roll of carpet in our livingroom until next week when the carpet layer gets here and installs it.

Ray- Yes its quiet here. Especially on the week ends. But it will pick up in less than a month. So stay with us.......

Solly- Guess you'll have a weird week end. Good thing you get to go to a motel.

Mercee- Good to see you staying with us. I'm trying to get back on. Thanks for the good wishes.

Monet- thanks for asking, my shingles are drying up and getting better. Man I'm so happy. Yippee on saleing the pottery. You're doing so good.

Tea- Hello how you doing....

Well I'm off to take a little nap.

Morning! I slept fairly well. Unfortunately, my sinus infection seems to be getting worse again. I hope it doesn't get any worse! I hate having a stuffy nose.

I have a lot to do today, and a trip to the post office to boot. I may use the automated station, but I don't think you can ship international from it, and I have a package for Canada.

RAY: The forum is rather slow this time of year. We have more 'regulars' who become very sparse during the holidays, but come back at New Years. Stick around! Like Solly, I have met a number of folks I knew from here. Some are no longer around. Some are the sparse posters... :) Also, I have met the three sisters who started the board, and a handful of the other moderators. It sure is fun to meet folks you know from online! I have a number of friends who are sugar free, so it is nice to have company. I love going out to eat with the one couple where the wife is off sugar. It helps a lot to have accountability. I won't eat something off plan in front of her! haha!

TONI: I am so glad the shingles are healing! Did you get all your shopping done? How is the remodeling going? What does Jackson think of all the work? :)

SOLLY: Wow! You are a BRAVE woman leaving your house to a bunch of 'youngsters'. When my kids have parties, I often hole up in my room, but I feel like I need to check on them occasionally, so I know they won't, 1. burn down the house, 2. drink too much, and 3. wreck the furniture, break dishes, or the like!

BOB: I worry about Christmas and Kaeleb! He is such a little hellion, we decided to get a very small tree that can sit up on a table, so he can't reach it as well. He broke one of the lids to my Revere ware pans the other night! Don't ask me how...he broke the handle off the lid! He doesn't mean to be destructive, he just IS! He has recently realized he can reach stuff up on counters and tables if he stretches a bit. The other day he got the ziplock bag with the Amish apple bread I made in it, and was walking around trying to figure out how to open the ziplock! He is not interested in toys. He is only interested in my drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. I really need to clean, and toss stuff. It sure would help.

Ok, off to find a Saturday post office!

Hi Everyone,

I hope I am posting this in the right place. I just completed my bio on the other thread. My name is Kate and this is my second time on Sugar Busters. I began in 2001 after reading about this diet on Soulcysters. Yes, I have PCOS and diabetes. I am not in good health and I physically and mentally feel horrible. I have a wonderful husband and children, but I simply feel gross all of the time. I am truly an addict. My drug is sugar and I feel like it is killing me, yet I can't stop. I have done my menu for the week, so after this I am off to do my shopping and being this new WOE tomorrow. It is a crazy time of year to begin this WOE, but I am always full of reasons why I can't start, so, enough is enough!! In 2001 I was successful....I lost almost 60 pounds, but then stopped following the program. I went through infertility treatments and to make a long story short...I have not been on program since September 2001. When I was following this WOE, I felt the best I ever did...so that is my current motivation other then my family. I am sorry this is long winded....I am looking to all of you for support....and in return, I will be there to support all of you!!! I love Sugar Busters and kow that I WILL be successfull. I look forward to getting to know all of you better!!!

KATE: WELCOME! :welcome3: That was not long winded! We are a chatty group so chat away! :) I am a diabetic too, so lets keep each other accountable! Do you check your bg levels regularly? I am not as good about it as I should be. I check in the morning and at night, but I should check in the middle of the day too. You are going to feel SO much better when you get off the sugar! Just stick to program, find ok stuff to snack on, and work on the portions once you get past the sugar stuff. You CAN do this! You did it before! Are you on any meds for the diabetes? I use Byetta, but I am hoping to switch to Januvia in a few months. Then no more needles! yay! If you would like feed back, feel free to post your menu on here for others to critique. Looking forward to getting to know you!

Hi Monet,

Thank you for the warm welcome!! I am on 10 mcg of Byetta, Glucavance and was on NPH at night, but I have taken myself off....with the guidence of my Endo. because it was not helping me with my fastings and it was adding to my weight gain. My goal is to be off all meds once I am well on my way to this new WOE. I do not check my numbers as often as I should....usually in the AM. Yes, let's use eachother for motivation. I will start documenting my blood sugar levels....I am excited to watch the numbers go down as this WOE gets underway!!

Hi, I've been looking all over the internet for a group that follows Sugarbusters, and I've finally found you. I got the newest SB book from the library and it looks like something I can follow. I can live without sugar, but not without fat! The other diets I've been on have always left me feeling hungry, but I find that this one doesn't leave me with cravings.

Am I getting it right that I can eat bread if it's made from all whole wheat flour even if its not stone ground?

And am I right in assumiing that popcorn is really out? I think that's the only thing I'm really going to miss.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!

Laundry day here on the West Coast of FLA!!
Went to the Drug Store to pick up a perscription, and dropped in at PUBLIX for a few things. KATE is watching FOOTBALL, and I'm watching A SMOKEY MOUNTAIN CHRISTMAS...Old movie, but I love it...DOLLY PARTON and LEE MAJORS...He's from my little town in KY and I grew up knowing him...I must say, he's not your usual HOLLYWOOD Celeb...he's so laid back and because
of knowing him, I got to know several CELEBS...ROCK HUDSON, TELLY SAVALAS, JIM NABORS and FARRAH....and believe it or not....the first three were very laid back too...no one bothered them when they came to town with HARVEY LEE (his real name), so they interacted with the Townspeople.
Back in my PARTAY DAYS, I was able to spend weekends at the lake when ROCK was in town...he was an avid fisherman....Ok..enough BRAGGING...not really though..

KATE...So glad to have you here with us. You'll feel so much better once you've gotten all that nasty sugar out of your body...You'll be surprised...I PROMISE!!!
Better tell you that when you see me post something about KATE, it's my Mom. She lives with me and the BUSTER BUDDIES here on the board have been through some rough times with me...Didn't want you to think I was talking about you, cause believe me...sometimes she's a character!

MONET...My Nieces oldest was like Kaeleb...he would get into her cabinets and pull everything out...he wasn't destructive, but he sure did make a mess!

TONI...What are you up to this afternoon? How are you feeling? Have the shingles subsided any at all?

DONNA...http://bestsmileys.com/welcome/15.gif

Well GIRLFRIENDS...I've got to go, but first I have to tell you....IF...you've kept up with the SHRIEK movies, DON'T MISS SHRIEK 3...I watched it last night and LOVE IT!!!

Morning all!!

:welcome3: Ray of Light, Donna and Kate!! This is a great site to post for support and encoragment. I just came back myself after being away for awhile.

I am a diabetic also and I think sugarbusters is the best WOE for me. Since I started back my cravings for sugar are gone and I feel great. I take metformin and glucophage and my numbers have been good. I came back because after losing 41 lbs in the last 6 months my new a1c was 5.2 and I want to keep it that way. I followed the plan years ago and came off all my meds so I know it is a wonderful plan. Sometimes we just get to lazy to do things for ourselves.

Well ladies back to work for me. I've been up since 5:00a.m. cooking my son had to make a South African dish for his geography project so I helped. I hope everyone has a great day and I will try to check in later.

Monet- I hope you finish everything. You seem to be awfully busy. Have a great day!!

WOW! I am so glad I am not diabetic. A friend of mine is a 'new' diabetic and she is really depressed - I think she is still having a hard time accepting that she has 'it.' My heart goes out to you too Monet and Kate. If I don't look after myself I am sure I could easily get it because the way food is set-up it's hard to know which comes first the chicken or the egg.....do I binge because of the food and what it does to my physiology and psychology or is it my psycholgy that dives into food first?????

This weekend was tough - of course I swear to abstinence after my belly is full!!! I drank a bottle of Coke and ate ice cream....this is the 4th occasion since August 2 - this is not bad at all......but there was no reason except HABIT ON A SATURDAY NIGHT.....HABIT ..... AND NO WILLINGNESS TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT....blaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh arghghghghghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (I'm screaming now) ekkkkkkkkkkkkkk ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
It's so frustrating. I am so frustrating. What a waste of precious life to keep doing this.

I am now insane.

RAY: No reason to beat yourself up about it. You don't start 'over', you just go back to being on program. We are afterall, humans and fail. The key to success is to accept failures, and move on. Plan for ways to overcome them. Next time you want something like ice cream and high fructose corn syrup laden Coke, remind yourself how you are feeling now.

Hi Buster buddies. sorry I'm so late but today has been so hectic. I just got done with cleaning spaghetti mess up. I made a pot then when Steve comes home its easy to heat tonight at 10. I made it with legal spaghetti and sauce and some Italian sausage. I got most my Christmas stuff mailed today. Still haven't done my cards yet. I'm so behind. But with all the remodeling going on I can't help it. The carpet layer is supposed to be here this week.

Bob- Thanks for asking the shingles are almost all gone. I'm so glad. Still have a little aching in my leg but boy am I glad its over.

Monet- You're going to be all worked out by Christmas gal with all the work you're doing.

Mom- Yep its so good to get the sugar out of your system. I'm a sugar junkie and its been good for me.

tea- I thought it was 5 grams but couldn't remember for sure.

Mercee- What is South African food like? What did you make?

Hi Ladies,

I am so excite with all the new members and lots of posts too :carrot:
I am so far behind. Yesterday was non stop so I never got here.

The party was fine. I tend to forget they are 25 and don't act like wild kids any more. At least most of them. There was not much mess to clean up and the house was in good shape. Only broken item was a small reindeer, that can be fixed. I think it went on until 5:00 in the morning. At 2:00 there were just geting into the hot tub. My poor neighbors. We ended up leaving the dog at home. I think he was litteraly a "party animal". I asked my DD if he got her up during the night to go to the potty and she just laughed and said "we didn't go to bed until 5:00" But he hung in there with them. I'm sure he loved all the attention.

Eating has not been good this weekend. I already can't wait for the holidays to be over for that reason alone.

I'm gonna work backwards on the posts:

Toni, glad your shingles are healing up so well. What day will the carpet be laid? Is that the last thing to do?

Kate, :we;come: I am not here on the weekends. Glad to have you with us. When stress hits you, if you can, exercise. It not only lets that stress ease away, you get the benefit of exercise. No one is perfect. Most important is to jump right back on program.

Ray, if ice cream is your weekend habit, stock up on SF ice cream. It is pretty tasty.

Mercee, Do tell, what kind of dish did you make. I would have no idea. I do remember those days of science fairs, etc. Can't say I miss them either.

Monet, will James be back in time for Christmas? How did the kiln turn out?

Tea, even though the new book says 5grams of sugar, I would suggest sticking with 3 if you can.

Bob, I saw the first Shrek movie on the way to Germany. It was good. Haven't seen the rest. Did you see the Shrek Christmas show?

Donna, :welcome: this is a great group. Some of us have been here over 6 years or more. Sugar is your enemy. Be prepared and plan ahead. I admire you for starting this at this time of year.

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Tonight we have to go to the Christmas party at the nursing home with my aunt. Not what I want to do, but sometimes you just have to do the right thing in life. Can you tell I was raised Catholic. I live on guilt. Anyway, they will have shrimp and meatballs, and desserts. The desserts aren't very good, so I don't have to worry. Probably have to stop at White Castle on the way home.

Have a great day. Talk to you later if I can or tomorrow.

o.k. I'm back on track......whew!

Thanks for all your kind words.

Solly: Yes - I think holidays don't know they are holidays....so we can just eat like any other day that we need food !!

Kate: With the exception of my "whacko" moments - I'm learning this in Buddism that all thoughts, and literally ALL thoughts are impermanent - meaning all thoughts pass on. I have found that to be true.....all thoughts come and go and go and come.........when I am deeply immersed in my lunacy I forget this important thing - hence the growing pains of being a beginner......

All: I joined a gym almost 4 months ago and have been going 3 or 4 times per week. When a gym works man-o-man is it ever a powerful place to be. My goal is to feel strong........my underarm woggles have almost stopped now and I can actually do leg-bent push-ups!!! I love going. I guess you could say I get personal training because there are 2 trainers there and because it's a new club I get all this amazing fitness attention.

Morning all!

Mom - Hang in there you can do it. Maybe you can try some nuts instead of the sugary food when you get stressed or cut up fruit.

Toni - I really enjoy making legal spaghtti too my sons and my husband they love it.

Solly - Well at least my oldest son graduates this year from high school. I hate the science fairs and all that stuff but I still help.

Well we made a dish call chutney chicken. My son said the kids and teacher loved it . He is a freshman in high school and it was for geography class.

Speaking of being behind, I haven'e even put my tree up we usually wait until the Friday before Christmas and we decorate the house because all of us are out of school and on vacation until Jan. (hubby and I are in education) I can't wait. I have picked up a free gifts though.

Well I hope all of you have a great day.

Hi Monet - yes I figured you were a potter or ceramist or jeweller....unless you're using the kiln to melt nachos and cheese really really fast.

Your kiln-load sounds fabulous....your gift receivers will treasure what you make for them!!!

Howdy everyone. Its good to see the board moving so fast. And its so good before Christmas to get a leg up on the eating. I'm struggling for some reason. I need some more veggies in the house. I'm just not eating enough of them. Not sure what I need to do today. Its so rainy and icky out it makes me want to sleep. LOL

Solly- We're waiting for the carpet layer to call the contractor we were hopeing maybe it would be tomorrow. Enjoy the party.

Ray- Thats so good that you go to a gym. I have a treadmill and thats my only exercise. But with the remoldling happening here I can't even dig my way to it.

Mercee-Thats a good way not to get sick of having the tree up to long. I'm happy to put it up and happy to take it down.

Monet- Your load sounds so beautiful. I can't imagine opening the kiln and all those beautiful pieces in there.

Well I'm off to finish my soap opera and then cook for Steve.

I got the kiln unloaded. It all turned out pretty good. I had one casualty, but I expected it as it had a crack going in.

Here are a few pictures!

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Good morning ladies,

Got my points in heaven. The party wasn't actually that bad. Food was good. DH had 3 plates full. She had already been out to get food and back in her room by the time we got there. We walked down to the lobby and just as we got there the carollers were breaking up. We talked awhile and headed home.

Tonight is my DD's last class. She actually has another semester of student teaching, but that will just be her job. At least she doesn't have to go out at night to school and weekends. This is her 2nd Masters. I think she is finished, finally. Bring on the grandbabies.

Tonight we are going shopping for the family we adopted. That should be fun.

Toni, was it warm there yesterday? It was 74 here. A little cooler today, but I am sick of this rain, 2 more days of it too.

Monet, your pieces are beautiful. I love the vase. There is nothing better than something made with your own hands to cherish.

Ray, We belong to a gym too. We usually get there 3 nights. My DD has a trainer so I follow behind her and do her stuff.

Mercee, has your son deceided on a college yet? We put up our tree the week before Thanksgiving. I will be ready to take it down right after Christmas.

Got to run help the boss figure out a problem. That should be fun! Have a great day

Morning! I slept like a log last night. My blood sugar was not as bad as it has been, but still not good. We did go for a walk last night before dinner, but could not go far as the stupid cats were following us. They were not safe in the road, so we walked up and down our street so they were closer to home. Next time, I want to lock them up first. grrr.

Thanks for the kind works about the pottery. The vase is for my mother in law, and I hope she likes it. She is not very appreciative of handmade stuff though.

I need to pack and ship a few gifts today, and perhaps fire the kiln. I may wait though.

I will be back later!

SOLLY: Just wait! You are going to LOVE being a grandmother. Sounds like the party was not too big of a party afterall, eh?

Hey Monet - your pottery is amazing!! Can you post more pics just for fun? The vase and flowers look so complicated....lucky recipients!!

I am wondering: I would like to do a challenge and that is: no overeating and eating ONLY 3 solid meals a day. I have checked around and there is a group for everything but I feel a little established here and supported. What do you guys think? If I checked in could you help support me by posting your comments???

RAY: Do you want to do a challenge on the forum here for the Sugarbusters group? Or am I not catching what you are trying to say? If you want to do a challenge here, please go for it! I would join in. I tend to snack more than I need to, and it would be good for me. Thank you for the compliment on my work. I have been a potter for a long time, just was not working for a while and got back into it about a year ago. I really do love it. My avatar is a set of angel ornaments I made too. I can post more pictures...I will have to look for some. :)

Hi Monet,

Yes I was thinking of doing the daily check-in's concerning the details of my challenge here because not eating sugar is what I'm about.

So o.k. good I will do that. So starting Monday I will begin logging something like this:

No sugar
3 meals
NO SNACKS
yay me for Monday etc. or whatever I put......

Can you think of something else Monet? and yes of course join in - the more the stronger!!!

Yes - your pottery pieces do not look amateur, that's for sure.

Morning ladies!

Monet - what beautiful work it looks amazing!

Solly - My son has not decided yet he is being recruited by a few colleges. He is a great football player. He has a few visits after break then he will decide.

Ray - I think a challenge would be fun although I always have to have a snack to keep my blood sugars steady.( or they will get to low) .

Toni - Maybe we should figure out hoe to get on Monet's Christmas list. LOL
Well I better get back to work. I hope you all have a great day.

Howdy all... Its raining buckets here and they're saying snow for Friday and Saturday. We're supposed to go out of town to my nieces graduation from colledge Friday. So I'm praying its not to bad. I've got to get something to eat, I'm starving.

Ray- Sorry I don't know how to help with the signature. I always have so much trouble getting it all straightened out. The challage sounds good. I'll be sure and join in.

Mercee- Howdy.....

Monet- sounds like you're still really busy. Glad you slept good.

Solly- It was about 60 here yesterday. But its raining like crazy here now. Hope you don't get all this nasty weather.

Well I'm off to eat. Missed breakfast and need food!!!

Ray of Light
12-12-2007, 03:04 PM
See Toni - I want my signature to read like yours - you show 213 then 189 and then your goal weight of 140....

We are 1 pound apart :) I weigh 188 but it doesn't show???

Ray

Ellen
12-12-2007, 03:15 PM
RAY: I am not sure why it is not showing. Perhaps it is because the slider is too close to the start weight...literally...and there is not enough space. I will go look at the trackers and see if I can figure anything out for you. Is there some where in there that you decide whether or not to show your current weight? Hmmm....

Ellen
12-12-2007, 03:22 PM
RAY: I looked at it. On the first page, did you put in your start, current and goal weights? If you did it should show it. If it is not showing it and you did that, it may just be as I said, the program doesn't have room to write it in there and once the slider moves further from the start it will show.

Ray of Light
12-12-2007, 03:27 PM
hahahah ok the Monet - that will be my first GOAL - is to get my slider to MOVE :)

I sold a special order of five mugs this morning. I have another of six mugs to deliver tomorrow and possibly a third of four to deliver tomorrow as well. I think then all I have left to do (and not by Christmas, thankfully!) is eight bowls with handles, and the urn for my sister in law's dog that I keep having to re-do.

Whew! Now I am mad at myself for not getting the urn done earlier. I had the time, I just flaked out. :(

Dinner tonight will be a shrimp stir fry with mixed veggies and brown rice.

Morning! Not much going on here. I have to meet someone today with a special order, then another friend with her special order, then to the post office and UPS. I also need to do laundry so I have clean clothes to carry to my mother in law's! :o She thinks I am a screw up as it is, so no reason to make her think even less of me by showing up in clay covered, dirty clothes! :D

I would much rather stay here this weekend, as I have ideas formulating in my brain box and I would love to get to them! Will have to wait until Monday though....

No Monet nothing started my screaming - sometimes it's just for good luck!!!

Sounds like you do your pottery for a living?? How long does it take you to make 4 coffee mugs?? You sound busy with creativity and prosperity!!!

Last night I was doing world famous and then I fell asleep on the couch - woke up - and like Frankenstein went into the kitchen and ate 5 large shortbread cookies my son :) had made. When I fall asleep like that sort of nap style I always wake up and binge on something....it's like all my guards are down or something. I always get upset AFTER - this is deeply deeply ingrained "in" me. It's my routine I guess you could say - and as I write this I think I know exactly what I am doing.....hmmm - very clever of that "other" side of me........I need a solution. I'm not going to let this get me down. Onwards.....Monet I love what you eat: stir fry shrimp and veggies and brown rice.....

This morning I ate: whole wheat toast, tomato, bacon and swiss cheese no butter or mayo or stuff like that.

This afternoon is our office Christmas party and I am just going to stick with my plan.

RAY: I don't really support myself with my pottery. My husband has a good job, thankfully! Or I would be REALLY skinny! haha! I am building my business, though I suspect I am doing much better due to the time of year, and once the holidays are past, I will not be making many sales.

Breakfast this morning was oatmeal with blueberries, a bit of agave and cinnamon and two cups of espresso!

I will be back later! gotta go deliver stuff and hit the post office and UPS!

Good afternoon ladies.

This has to be a wuickie. It is 4:00 and I still have lots to finish up today.
I won't be here tomorrow b/c I am getting a colonoscopy. The pre-treatment has not been bad. Only had to drink 1.5 oz of this Fleet stuff that tasted like lemon salt water and then again at 6:00. I have only had 2 jellos and 1 can of chicken broth and tons of water and coffee. I really am not very hungry either. Maybe I should eat like t his one day a week. Dinner will be the same. Fun. Oh well, tomorrow it will all be over with.

Monet, you are selling tons of stuff. I hope your mIL likes her vase.

Ray, I'm in on your challenge.

Mercee, how wonderful for your DS. I scholorship always helps.

Toni, unfortunately we are getting your weather. It has rained all week. We were eaxpecting lots of snow Saturday, but now just rain. Yuck!

Evening all. I'm busy, busy getting ready for a trip I don't even know if we're making. The weather sounds awful. We don't want to get into ice. And especially don't want to come back to ice. We live straight down a hill about a mile long. Its an old dirt road and its really bad when the ice is here. Eating has been okay. Really haven't had much today.

Bob- We just finished having sketti this week, I love it leftover. I'll bet your sauce is so good.

Solly- Good luck with the colonostophy. I don't envy you.

Ray- Oh boy the eating when you wake up would be a problem. I try not to have sweets in the house cause I'm so bad around them.

Hi, I've been away for a few days. Had to go to the city for a heart stress test. My heart is fine, but the lady who did the test said her 67 year old mother could have done better on the test than me, and I'd better work at getting in shape. My DD is starting a new business as a health coach and I'm her guinea pig, so we had a long talk about exercise. I'm going to include that in my part of Ray's challenge for next week.

It's snowing here and only 5 degrees.

I struggle to know what to eat for breakfasts. If I eat eggs and bacon, I don't get hungry till lunch time, but when I eat whole wheat toast and peanut butter, I'm hungry by 11. Today I had 1/2 grapefruit, 1 scrambled egg with salsa & cheese, 1/2 whole wheat bagel with cream cheese, and a cup of coffee. I was hungry by 11. COULD YOU ALL GIVE ME EXAMPLES OF WHAT YOU EAT FOR BREAKFAST?

Today is my husband's official retirement (from self-employed appliance repair). He's celebrating by making a batch of home-brewed beer - good thing I don't like beer!

Monet - beautiful pottery, my sister is a potter too, in Victoria, B.C. She also has a husband with a good paying job that helps pay the bills. Her son once thought throwing a pot was child's play, until she let him try it. He has a lot more respect for her now!

Hope your day goes well.

Hi Everyone,

I have been MIA all week, our school just finished the state program approval and it was horrible, but the good news it that it is over and we wont have to go through this for another 3 years. My eating has not been the best...I have never been good with stress, and I know I have to overcome this! Now that things have calmed down, I can go to the gym and be planned and organized with my meals and meal planning. Old habits are very hard to break. My goal is to be off all medicine for my diabetes....it's a long term goal, but that is my plan. I live in New Hampsire are we are due for a Nor 'Easter this weekend....I can't wait to go sledding!!! I can't remember the last time we had a white Christmas!!! Have a wonderful night everyone!!
By the way, has anyone ever tried Zumba....it's a Latin Style Aerobics class...I go weekly and I love it....just wanted to spread the word...esp. for those who do not like to exercise....Zumba is a fun way to do it!!!!

I can't leave until the last patient has been seen for fear of them needing surgery....The other day I thought the Doc was kidding after he told me I could leave and then the patient he was seeing needed surgery! He wasn't a happy camper, but I appologized to him today and all is well!
Got my Christmas Bonus todayhttp://bestsmileys.com/money/3.gif...I didn't really expect one since I've only been there 7 months. It was greatly appreciated though. The head of the OP Surgery Center came up and gave my Partner and I a $25 gift card to PIER ONE...Wasn't expecting that either!

DONNA....Why not get yourself some TURKEY BACON...fix it in the microwave on paper towels...less grease that way, gets really crispy and it is yummy to boot! I buy the JENNY-O brand.

MOM...Never heard of that kind of aerobics. You'll have to tell us more about it!

Hey all!!! Good Saturday morning. I've put a corned beef in the crockpot. Steve got it out of the freezer last night and wanted me to make it today. So I will. Wish I had some cabbage but dang I'm out of veggies. I've got to go to our little market in town and see if I can get some. But of course that means the weather has to hold out. We've got a wintry mix weather report out today with some snow later on. Its the ice I'm worried about. Went to my neices colledge graduation yesterday. And eating was horrible. My sister had made a large buffet with every kind of mexican food on it. Salsa was the only healthy thing.

Donna- Hello its nice to see you posting. Welcome if I didn't already

Ray- Getting my mind set for the challange on Monday.

Bob- hey gal. Lucky you with a bonus and I would love to go to Pier One I haven't been there in years. Oh boy I love your recipes. Thank you. Now don't forget.

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!

TONI...Here's the recipe...I'm going to do the whole thing just as though your were going to make LASAGNA...When we want SKETTY , I just make the sauce part.

KATE'S LASAGNA

1 1/2 lbs ground chuck (brown, drain)
Put into a sauce pan and add:

1 TBS sweet basil
1 tsp cinnamon
4 cloves garlic (minced)
1 large onion (chopped)
1/2 tsp oregano

ADD:
1 small can tomato paste
1 large can tomato sauce plus 1 can water
1 large can crushed tomatoes
Salt to taste
2 tsp parsley flakes
1/2 tsp black pepper
(if you're making lasagna, wait and add parsley to ricotta mixture)

Bring to a gentle boil and then simmer for 1 hr stirring occasionally.

1 lb ricotta cheese
4-5 eggs beaten
Combine and beat the two ingredients above

9 lasagna noodles
2 lbs mozzarella cheese (shredded or thin sliced)

Spread a layer of sauce in the bottom of a deep pan
layer noodles, then alternate until the pan is full but ending with sauce.

sauce
noodles
ricotta mixture
mozzarella cheese

When completed, cover with parmasean (sp?) cheese and bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes to 1 hr. Make sure it's bubbly but not dry.

Let set for about 45 min then slice and serve! YUMMY!!

ENJOY!!

We've got snow. Only about an inch but we've got the first snow of the season. I love it. Only thing it mostly came at night and I didn't get to watch it fall. Hopefully we're going to test our little Ford Ranger today. We bought a four wheel drive last summer after we totaled our car out hitting a deer. So this is the first winter with a truck. We also have a four wheel drive scout. Eating has been bad but guess my mind knows Monday I'm doing a challage. Maybe this is what I've been needing to get me going back on eating right. I sure haven't been doing well. This is our lazy day. So things are slow here right now. Hopefully we get our carpet laid and guttering down next week. And then we can put our house back together.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Toni: Oh, my Gosh, how I love corned beef...and I'm not the least bit Irish. But I do love it! Any more snow?

Mom: Well, now that you've established yourself as a Patriots fan ( :barf: )...I'm glad for you that they won and will keep my opinion about Marcia Brady to myself until we get to know each other better :s: I've been a Bills fan since I was little, so my MOST disliked team is the Dolphins...who I've been enjoying watch lose all year...after many, many, MANY Sundays destroyed by them pouncing on us for decades. Some people may feel sorry for them, but my resentment runs deep. How's the snow falling over there in New Hampshire?

 Monet and Solly and everyone else that hasn't posted in a few days.

Tonight we had beef Souvlakis for dinner on WW pitas. So good.

OUr 'snowstorm' seems to have peetered out. They were calling for Thundersnow...which I LOVE...and now it's been downgraded to flurries. Problem happened when my husband went out and snowblowed the driveway and then dusted off the truck and put up the wipers, took the garbage to the road and, basically, prepared for the thick snow...so the snow gods saw we were prepared and went elsewhere. That means no snow day. :(

Okay...have to run. Kyle's in the tub and needs to get out and dried off for bed.

My weekend was good. Whenever I can spend time with my girls, it is good. We shopped all day Sat for the family we adopted. we sept $180 ove rwhat we had. Oh well, that is what the season is all about. I wish I could be ther when these boys open their gifts. Yesterday, we spent the entire day baking. I mean the en tire day. My house is covered with cookies, candies, etc. :fr:

No time for replies, I apologize. Our office Christmas party is tomorrow and I have lots to prepare before then. I will not be here at all tomorrow. I will check in as much as I can t his week ,but I have to get ready for my vacation so I will have lots to do here. I will be off the 3 days after Christmas.

Oh, my colonoscpy turned out fine. It really was nothing. They did say come back in 3-4 years for a repeat b/c they could not get a clear picture. Guess I really am full of s**t.

Have a great day.

Howdy all; Gee I can't believe how quiet it is here this morning. I've got tons to do but wanted to stop in and say I'm ready to start Ray's challenge. I weighted this morning and wasn't happy. I'm back at 190. So hopefully I'll get back to where I was soon. I'm going to have a ww waffle and an egg this morning or it will really be a noon day meal. I've got to get veggies today when I'm out. Better run.

Mercee- Howdy ho. Doesn't Bob's recipe look yummy....

Solly-What a great week end. That's great about your colonstopy. Enjoy the party.

Hello all my bustin' buddies!

I mailed off a package this morning...the post office was not too bad...and then got my emission inspection done, so I only need to go to the store and get milk.

I had a hypoglycemic episode, so I had a few glucose tablets and I am waiting for it to stabilize. I am still shaky and cold. Then I need to go get things done, like unload the kiln, glaze and fire again!

I just finished lunch- a lean cuisine pizza. Not whole wheat, but it was good!

Tomorrow I am going to the toy store with a friend and we are both shopping for our grand baby. Hers is younger than mine, and a girl. Once I buy Kaeleb's presents, I only will need two small items. I feel pretty good about that. One year, I am going to get it all done BEFORE Thanksgiving...

Then, I have to wrap. I hate wrapping! I LOVE gift bags!

I will be back later!

I have been reading some of the post here as I have a few quiet moments (I am at work). I am learning some things I did not know about the program and I am glad to see some of you are posting your eating for the day. That will really help me get started on this plan to see some ideas on food as I am not too creative in that area.

o.k. - Well I don't know where I posted before but I think I get it now....I will post on Support - December 2007.

"Cause it's December and I need support :)

Lunch was a salad with 10 different veggies in it with avacado dressing and cheese for protein.

As I was posting before (don't know where post went) I have been reading about getting rid of fibroids by reducing one's body fat, fat 'ya eat, and of course not eating sugar.........this is a great goal all by itself - the anti-fibroid diet!!!

My breakfasts are going to be strong with veggies, protein and a carb of grain, or rice...........

Hi Everyone,

Tech-Your post made me laugh...I am a New England Fan through and through!! It snowed all day here in New Hampshire and then turned to ice. Today my school had a 2 hour delay!! I did akoay eating for today. My "new" favorite is baked oatmeal. I take equal parts of oatmeal and water and slice apples and bake it for 15 minutes on 400 degrees. It is so good!! GOOD EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

I'm home with the flu bug...my whole body aches and my lips are hot! It's a two ender process and that makes all the more UCK! I did go to work this morning and made it to about 11 a.m. I doubt I'll go tomorrow if I'm still feeling this way in the morning. Went down to the drug store to pick up some KAOPECTATE...it will settle my stomach and help stop the other. I'll be slugging that baby right from the bottle!

Good morning ladies,

Thought I had better get here early. I have to leave here around 10:00 to take things out for our party. I have to meet the performer (Christian comedian) at 10:30. I have his keyboard and mike stand. He does a puppet (life size) act and plays on the keyboard. He is funny, we had him about 6 years ago. We are having a pecan encrusted cod & some type of bourbon chicken for lunch. I hope the cod is good.

Got my house cleaned last night. It goes so much faster when everyone helps. DD did the bathrooms and DH swiffered and ran the vacume for me. Got all the adopted family presents wrapped and out of the house also. Just have 1 or 2 thinigs to pick up. Of course DH still has nothing for me. We went Friday to get some diamond earrings. He doesn't hve enough money for the ones I want (imagine that). So either I will wait and see how much my Christmas bonus is or go the clothes route. I really need clothes.

Toni, I wasn't happy when I put my pants on t his morning. I didn't need to get on the scale. Just a few more days.

Kate, That oatmeal sounds good, I may have to try it.

Monet, if I were going shopping for my grandbaby, watch out. Especially if I only had one. In fact, I probably would only have shopped for him this year. I am jealous. Little ones make Christmas so special.

Bob, I am so sorry you have the flu. DId you get a flu shop this year? Hurry and get better before Santa comes.

Jakebabe, COme join our group. This is a great way of eating and a great group of supporters. We will show you the way.

Donna, Congrats on your 3 lb loss  I don't think I officially welcomed you to our group. We used to have lots of people from Canada with us. Welcome.

Ray, that sounds like one nice salad.

Well, got to make sure I have everything together. Have a great day.

Afternoon ya all...... :mrsclaus::mrsclaus::mrsclaus::elf:

I am ready for Christmas, I am ready for Christmas!!!!!

And my eating is good so I'm happy..... Its a good day for eating right. I had one egg and a slice of bacon and a piece of ww toast for my breakfast. Lunch with probably be broccli and some cottage cheese. And dinner tonight is taco soup. I need some fruit but am going to have to get the canned fruit or something out cause I won't have any till this week end when we go big grocery shopping. Our little tiny store in town didn't have any that looked like it hadn't been there for 6 months. So I'm just doing the best I can. My main thing is staying out of the cookies. Normally I don't even have them in the house. Some are going in the trash today.

Ray- Your food sounds good. I didn't get to have my taco soup till late last night and thats rare for me I try not to eat after 7:30. But the phone kept ringing and I couldn't get it made before then.

Monet- Dang it for James. Hope he'll get to get home soon. Happy shopping.

Solly- Oh can you all come to my house. Its a wreck. Can you believe we're still waiting for the carpet layers. The main guy has something wrong with his eye. Then the gutter people are supposed to be here this week. Hope your party is so much fun and the cod is good.

GOOD MORNING LADIES,

Well our party was ok. The cod was not very good and I didn't get any of the chicken. I was so busy helping all the retired superintendents get in get their drinks, get their plates, etc. Then my boss had to leave to go to the airport to pickup our entertainer so I had to be the MC and give out all the door prizes, so I ate a salad and some soup and dessert. :bad: I was totally wiped out when I got home. I hit the couch and took a short nap. Dinner was chicken enchilladas already in the crock pot, so it was so prep. But afterwards I had to fix lasagna. We are having 8 people over for dinner tomorrow night.

The best part of the party was I won the 19" flat screen TV. Thankfully, by moss pulled my name out instead of me. We were planning on buying a small one for the kitchen and a big one for our family room so now we only have to buy 1.

Monet, I am so sorry about Tom's job. Not a good time of year to lose your job. Just remember, when on door closes. Maybe something better will come along. Will James make it home before Christmas?

Ray, I like your way of thinking. I need to be down 2, 3, or more soon or I will have to go naked. :fr:

Toni, you sound so happy. I will be glad when I can say the same. I haven't even planned my menu, but then it is always the same. Just a few more weeks when you son will be home. I can't wait for you.

Bob, are you feeling any better?

Got to run. I have a subcontractor's party to go to today at lunch. I am having a Reuben. Have a great day.

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!!!

Well, I made it an hour before I had to come home. I'm not hurling any more, but the back door trots are back! I have a fever and in general, I FEEL LIKE CRAP!!!

MONET...I'm sorry that JAMES is delayed. I just got an email from my Neighbors who live in Dalton, Mass....they have had snow every day and are expecting 3-4 more inches today! Where is it that he's stuck? Is he in DC or Boston? I've got all fingers and toes crossed for you as I know you like to have all of your MUNCHKINS gathered around you on the Holidays! Keep us updated on his travel progress.
I'm so sorry about TOM, but with his experience, he'll find something soon. He's a go-getter and I've got faith in him to GITTER DONE

JACKIE...Glad to hear that your PARTAY went well. As for your family gathering, you'll have to try KATE'S LASAGNA recipe some time....it's sooooo good and soooo easy to make! I think the key to a good lasagna is ricotta...so many people use cottage cheese and it's just not the same!
What's RUDY getting for Christmas? Give him a little scratch behind the ear from his AUNTIE BOB!!!

MERCY...Don't work too hard, but enjoy your time off...will you be able to check in from home while you're off? If not MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

RAY......STEP BACK FROM THE GOODIES!!!!!

DONNA....HOW YA DOING TODAY????

TONI...I've made an EXECUTIVE DECESION ......I'm coming to your HAMLET and opening a grocery store!!!! I think I could do well.....whatcha think?

Well, I'm off to find some juice....I've got my KAOPECTATE ready and I think I'll boil some eggs to eat when I do get hungry.

Bob- Wish you would come and put in a good grocery store. And have reasonable prices. They raise them in the summer when the tourists comes in and then they stay high. Hope you get rid of the flu before Christmas.

Mercee- What a great time off. Think Steve will take an extra few days off next week. Enjoy your self. Do you have a computer at home?

Solly- My gosh girl you're going to work yourself to death. You need some down time!!! Hope you're having a bit of fun at least. Thats great you won the t.v. I have one in the kitchen and really like it.

Crab Stuffed Mushrooms I
Submitted By: Jessica
Before stuffing, you marinate these mushrooms in bottled Italian dressing -this little prep step gives them a hearty and unusual zing.
Original recipe yield: 10

Prep Time:
20 Minutes Ready In:
35 Minutes
Cook Time:
15 Minutes Servings:
10 (Change)

20 large fresh mushrooms, stems removed
3 tablespoons Italian-style salad dressing
1 cup crabmeat
3/4 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup minced onion
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
In a shallow bowl, marinate mushrooms in Italian dressing for 20 minutes. Drain well.
In a small mixing bowl, combine crabmeat, 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, eggs, mayonnaise, onions, and lemon juice. Fill the mushroom caps with the mixture. Arrange the mushrooms on the prepared baking sheet. Top with remaining breadcrumbs.
Bake for 15 minutes.

This would be so easy to convert to Sugar Busters think I'll make them for Christmas eve.

Whats everyone having for Christmas dinner?

Good evening all!

What a day yesterday - I was downloading the new tax program yesterday - we're in the country and only have dial-up internet - it took 13+ hours. I started in the morning and it wasn't done till 11 last night.

While waiting - I filled the new bookcase my husband built me with all my cookbooks that have been in boxes since last Spring - washed down the door of our shower - did laundry - made lasagne - tried a recipie for roasted chick peas (not a repeater) - and went for a walk in the beautiful sparkling outdoors.

Food yesterday:
ww toast with cream cheese spread/1 egg/orange
lasagne & large green salad
lasagne & frozen brocolli,cauliflower,carrot mix
a couple pieces of dark chocolate

Food today:
ww toast with peanut butter/1 egg
shrimp with lots of veggies & ww pasta
popcorn
vegie soup/crispy ww tortilla bits/cheese

Drank my water yesterday - still working on today's

Monet - sorry to hear about Tom's job. I'm assuming he's your husband. Who is James?

We're having Chirstmas at my Daughter's. She told me today that she's planning a lot of decandant deserts for our holidays. I don't keep any sweets in the house except dark chocolate and that's how I keep myself from eating them. Any tips of how not to overload on sweets at someone else's house?

DONNA: Sounds like having a download take so long was a good thing! :) I would go crazy if I had to go back to dial up after having high speed cable. What a saint you are! Tom is my husband, James is my 29 year old son who lives with us, but travels at least three weeks out of four for work. He has been in Boston, is probably in DC now, and will be home Saturday for the rest of the year! Yay! I miss him when he is gone. On the desserts...make sure you TELL everyone that you are on a diet, and can't have sugar. The accountability will help. Then, take your own dessert, and eat that. Just don't start on her decadent ones, and you will be fine!

Just wanted to touch base and say "Hi" to everyone. I am still reading old posts, and reading the newer Sugar Buster book again. Is the older one the same but with no revisions? Which one do you like the most? I was already eating pretty well, I just need to do some tweaking to get totally on program. I don't think it will be too difficult to do. I have been stalled for a month and I sure would like to get the scale moving again so that when I go in Jan. for my diabetes check up, he will be pleased with my loss since my last visit. I still need to lost at least 75 pounds so I need to work this plan 100%!:carrot:

Morning! I don't have much planned for today. I need to go to the tag office and get the tag decals today for Tom. Then I think I am going to keep Kaeleb for a bit while Justin goes to an interview.

Yesterday was Justin's birthday. He picked bacon cheeseburgers and loaded fries for his dinner choice. I got whole wheat buns, used low fat cheese on Tom's and my burgers, and I found frozen sweet potato fries! I used regular for them, but I made the sweet potato ones for me- not loaded, just cooked- and they were REALLY good! :cb: I was excited!

JACQUE: I don't think much was changed from the old book to the new. I read the new one by taking it out of the library, and I own the old one. To be honest, I have not read it recently. I probably ought to take it out and read it again. I could use some inspiration!

I guess I will just stick with the new version of the book and not purchase the older one. Sounds like I have it covered between the book and this board!
I am doing pretty on food. Coffee and eggs for breakfast, salad and/or veggie soup for lunch, fish or chicken, brussel spouts for dinner. Sometimes I am having a small apple w/peanut butter an hour before bed as it helps my glucose reading the next morning. Look ok to you all?

Mom, I love that dip. I know what you mean about the baking, I am barrelling my way through ours. I'm going to look like a barrel soon.

Ray, you definately are on the right track.

Jaque, your menu looks good to me. Maybe add another fruit. I have found the SP fries at Whole Foods and Wild Oats

Toni, at least you will have your carpet down in time for Christmas.

Monet, can you play levels 2 & 3 on Spider Solitare? I just cannot figure it out or do much good anyway.

Mercee, Enjoy your time off. My DD is off until then also. Me, just the 2nd.

Bob, Rudy is getting nothing if he doesn't stop going to the potty on my basement floor. For some reason, everytime we go down there, he pees on the floor. I even sprayed perfume all over it. He was not speaking to me last night. Feel better soon and don't give it to Kate.

Evening buster buddies; Well the carpet is laid and I'm pooped. Got the bed set up and most of the livingroom put back together. Now the rest of the house and all the nick knack stuff. And tons of blankets. Where there going I don't know. Tomorrow the gutter guy is supposed to come and do the guttering.

jakebabe- I just copied it over from my computer.

Bob- So sorry you got the nasty bug. Rest well and get rid of it.

Solly- I never thought Jackson would get house broken I swear it took him a year. Thank goodness I didn't have the new carpeting. You sound like you've got it all together for Christmas. Hope your dinner turns out good.

Mom- Boy you got lots of snow. Just keep it there.

Monet- Was glad to get out of the room. And back to my computer in the livingroom. Did you get all your orders done and out the door?

Got to go. Have a good evening.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to check out Deb's cheese cake & take it along with me. We'll be at my daughter's for four days - I'll need to find things to take with me to replace chips and sugary pop as well. It's going to be a challenge, but I'm telling myself I should just fill my plate with good food and then enjoy the visiting and stay away from the food table.

One of my friends was telling me that I had good will power because I wasn't going to the cookie exchange a bunch of ladies were having. I told her I DON'T have very good will power, and THAT was why I wasn't going! I take my hat off to those of you who have kids at home that NEED cookies baked and you still are able to leave them alone yourself.

Monet - hope James makes it home ok. Do you have other kids and do they live nearby or far away? I have four grown kids and the closest one lives 2 hours away- she has a seven month old daughter so we visit her quite a bit. The other 3 are in Alberta (about 10 and 12 hours away). The last few years we've gotten together in the summer instead of having them brave the winter weather up here in Canada. Summer visiting is nice, but Christmas is a little different without having them here. Next year should be fun when our granddaughter is old enough to enjoy it all.

Thanks so much for the lasagne recipe. It sounds wonderful, a little different than a traditional recipe with the cinnamon etc. I like trying new things so I will be making it on Sunday!

Evening! I made a mug tonight with Kaeleb's hand prints in the clay. So cute! It is for my daughter and son in law to give to his father, who is hard to buy for, but crazy about his grandson. Then I threw a very large bowl. I will trim it tomorrow.

DONNA: I have three grown kids. James travels on business all the time, but he lives here when he is in town. My youngest daughter and her husband live with us too, and they have a 16 month old son, who is so much fun! My older daughter and her husband live about 45 minutes away, but we get to see them once or twice a month. Do you have tons of snow too? A few of the moderators live in Ontario and they have been talking about how MUCH snow they have gotten! And here in Atlanta, we are way behind on rainfall. Too bad they can't send it down here! Good plan to take your own treats to your daughter's. That ought to help!

TONI: Yay! I am glad the carpeting is done! I have one order left that needs to be reglazed, and then one I have not started on yet. The one I have not started on yet is ok- she knew it would not be ready until after Christmas. I got everything else done on time, so I am pleased! Now to clean house before Justin's parents get here tomorrow night...

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!

Guess I got some good sleep yesterday and last night because when the clock turned to 5 a.m. BOB WAS UP AND OUT OF BED!!!

Still feel like poopie, and the fever is still there. I'm starving, but then don't have the desire to eat....does that make sense? I'm drinking plenty of fluids
though and that's the main thing.

The weather must be getting ready to change too...my knee is killing me...we're supposed to get some rain and that's probably what's bothering me.

MONET...Please put a picture of the plate up so we can see it. I bet it's cute!

I'm not cooking a big meal on Tuesday. We've decided to have big thick rib eyes , baked potatoes, salad and something green. I'll probably bake Kate a pumpkin pie if she wants one, but who knows.

I'm off for now...I'll check in a little later!

Morning! I should have called BOB at five... I was up too because the baby was crying. He woke up at 4 and wanted to get up and play! He finally fell back asleep sometime around 6:30. He sure is stubborn when it comes to sleep!

I have to clean today. I hate cleaning. I am looonnggg over due though. The house looks like crap.

BOB: It is a mug, not a plate! :) I will post a pic when it is done! I am trying to decide which glaze to use - it has to be one that accentuates the texture of the hand prints.

Happy Friday Ladies! :claus:

Dinner was nice, one couple did not get to come. They were the main reason we were having it. Her brother passed away recently and now her mom is in the hospital. Oh well, just a reason to do it again.

I have Christmas for all my family. So Tuesday I will have 22 people and kids. It will be crazy, but fun.

I will be off until New year's Eve. So I will miss talking with you guys.

Monet, what a gret idea, the mug. He will love it. How's the cleaning going???

Jaque,

Toni, I am glad your carpet is down. Now you can get your house back together and enjoy it. Rudy is housebroken, it is just when we go down to the basement. We leave a puppy pad down just in case, he rarely uses it. Something about the basement.

Donna, I think you have great will power not to go to the cookie exchange. You are doing a great job.

Bob, Hope you feel better soon. Bet your arelosing lots of wt.

In case I don't get back here later, I wish all of you a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope Santa is good to all of you. "hohoho: :santa::newyear::rudolph:

Sounds like everyone is ready for the holiday! I did hardly anything this year. I am just not in the mood for it plus our last one at home is 16 so she is past the Santa thing. We got her a couple of big ticket items and that is it. I am always so glad when the holidays are over. I do love the after Christmas sales though! I love a bargain!

We are having finger foods for Christmas day. Anyone got any good SB recipes for that? I know there will be lots of food there I can't eat so other than veggies and legal dips I am not sure what to take.

Jake - what about a chickpea salad with garlic, olive oil, tons of chopped parsley, with diced red pepper - it's sooo delish and attractive too. Why are you not in the mood this year? Did something happen?

*I ate tons of chicken yesterday
*You know - I ate a hunk of fudge yesterday - I don't even really like fudge but I felt the hinges of my jaw coming undone at my friends place because I DIDN'T REALLY WANT TO BE THERE......I was a little bit ticked off at my friend and because I was afraid if I said anything it would end the friendship (I know, I know - ridiculous drama) I shoved food in my face for nothing and forgot all the good things I have been learning........POOP!!!

I did not exercise at my GORGEOUS GYM because I have 2 fitness days off and then go again on Saturday.

You guys rock.

Now I am on holidays until January 7 and don't have access to a computer -- so I will be hopping into a cyber cafe from time to time.....

I have NOT jumped ship just don't have a computer ......

Great idea on the chick pea salad. We all love hummus, taboli etc. so I will make one.

Sorry if I sound down on Christmas. I just have surrounded by more and more selfish people over the years who are on the take to the point that I hate the see the holidays coming and all it represents to so many people. So many do not remember what this season is really for and it saddens me.

Merry Christmas to you!

MONET....OOPS....I misread....and when I looked back, there it was as big as me....MUG!!! I can't wait to see it...When you're done at your house, come on down and clean mine...DEAL????

DONNA....We'll miss you while you're at your Daughter's...check in if you can.
If not, I'll wish you a Merry Christmas now! The cheesecake is wonderful. We've all been eating it for years.

TONI....I was just watching THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA and she did a recipe that I know you'll love so I copied it for you:

Spinach Gratin
Copyright, 2001, Barefoot Contessa Parties!, All rights reserved

4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
4 cups chopped yellow onions (2 large)
1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups milk
3 pounds frozen chopped spinach, defrosted (5 (10-ounce) packages)
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup grated Gruyere cheese

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Melt the butter in a heavy-bottomed saute pan over medium heat. Add the onions and saute until translucent, about 15 minutes. Add the flour and nutmeg and cook, stirring, for 2 more minutes. Add the cream and milk and cook until thickened. Squeeze as much liquid as possible from the spinach and add the spinach to the sauce. Add 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese and mix well. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.

Transfer the spinach to a baking dish and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan and the Gruyere on top. Bake for 20 minutes until hot and bubbly. Serve hot.

I think I'll fix it to go with our steaks on Christmas Day...I watched her make it and it looks so easy...I think you'll agree.

Here are your movie picks for the weekend:

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END
SHOOTER
THE HEARTBREAK KID
EASTERN PROMISES

I can't wait to see the Pirate movie...I hate that it's the last in the series.

I'm off to put on a pot of home made veggie soup...I've got some beautiful
oxtails that I will throw in the pressure cooker and then go from there.

Have a great afternoon!

My back is so sore and sweet Steve just hooked up the heating pad for me. Don't know how he found it in this wreck of a house. But its all ready now. We're having finger food on Christmas eve and then our prime rib with a bunch of fixin's for dinner. I'm doing a cheesecake for dessert.

Ray- would love to have a mall near by the nearst one is almost 3 hours away. But next Christmas we're going there. Just forget about that fudge and go from there.

Monet- You'll be tired tonight. And the cleaning too. That mug sounds so darn precious. What a wonderful gift.

I never got the chance to report back last night. We got the house in really nice shape before folks arrived. Tom vacuumed the whole house for me. I even waxed the dining room table! I was not too tired last night. I really enjoyed seeing Justin's aunt again. We are really good friends, but have not been able to get together for about two months. I will probably go up next week and work with her. I want to use the extruder and the slab roller in the studio up there.

Tom and I went out to breakfast with some friends this morning and had a wonderful time. Then he went shopping with me to Costco, and I got the pork roast and some stuff I needed for Christmas dinner. When we got home, he helped me wrap the presents. All I have left to think about are stocking stuffers, and usually the kids do those! So, I am wracking my brain to make sure I did not forget anything, but I think I am all ready for Christmas, and three days early! This is a FIRST! haha!

No word from James...he was supposed to be flying in this afternoon, so I don't know where he is. I tried calling him on his cellphone, but got no answer, which might have meant he was in the air. I hope so! I know he is tired and ready to be home for a few days at least!

TONI: Oh! A white Christmas! How lucky!

BOB: You did all your shopping online too, eh? Isn't it great!? I love it! I really need a small thing for Laura and one for Justin, but since Tom got laid off, money became an object, so I am afraid to spend anymore. I hope they are not hurt by a lesser amount of gifting than the others get....I am praying they are ok with it, but one never knows with her... :dunno:

Sounds like everyone is ready for the big day! I have cooking to do but that is all. We were surprised by an unexpected snow and ice storm late this afternoon. A drive that usually takes me 35 minutes took 2 hours. Not my favorite thing to do! :nono:
I got some agave syrup today to make the cheesecake with. I tasted the syrup when I got home and I really like it! I am anxious to see what everyone else thinks on Christmas day at the dinner.
I really like only having to be concerned with glycemic indexs and not carbs per meal. Sure makes things simpler! I also hope this gets the weight loss and glucose readings headed in the right direction again!

Howdy all, We didn't get our snow and it doesn't look like we're going to get it. So no white Christmas here after all. But brr is cold out. It was about 19 when I stepped out at 10 this morning.

Monet- I didn't get enough stocking stuffers for Steve's stocking and its mostly candy in it this year. Pretty sad looking sock. But it will have to do. Wish my house was nice and clean. We're pretty stacked up here from getting the carpet put in. It will have to do.

jakebabe- Can't wait to see what you think of the cheesecake. It really is an easy way of eating.

Well off to enjoy my coffee.

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!

Yesterday seemed even longer than "the longest day of the year" is supposed to feel! Today is even slower! I'm watching Anthony Bourdain on the Travel Channel...right now, we're in India.

Kate is layed out in the recliner watching the food network...says there isn't a good football game on.

It just doesn't seem like Christmas to me. I'm just not in the spirit. I miss all of my family being in a remotely close area.

I've got to figure something to fix for supper. That big pot of soup I made the other day is still available in the fridge, but I'm getting tired of it. It is good though....really thick with veggies and stew beef. I'm going to freeze a lot of it and we'll have it all ready when the urge comes again.

Hello everyone!

I'm just popping in to tell everyone Merry Christmas!!:hohoho:

It's been over a month since I've been around and I am so sorry about that! I've just been so busy these days. DH and I are starting SB again after the holidays. I know that it's no use starting before then because I won't do it. I have my 20 year reunion this year - I'm sure in the summer - and I don't want to go looking like I do. I was "the most athletic" girl of our senior class - HA! That's a joke now! So, I really can't show up weighing 286 pounds!! So, I'm going to TRY my best to do this again. I managed to gain back all of the weight I lost while I was pregnant (how many people actually get to say that?!?!) I'm miserable and I am having a hard time keeping up with the kids. So, like I said - I'm going to try my best. I know you all have heard that 100 times in the past - I'm like the kid that cried wolf! HA! We'll see what happens! I know that if I come to the board daily I will be better off and more likely to stay OP. So, I will have to make time each day to post. The kids go to bed by 8:30 so I should be able to pop in before bedtime!

I see we have some new faces! WELCOME! Can't wait to get to know y'all!

Well, here are the pics that I put on our Christmas card this year! Hope you enjoy!

OH................Guess what!!!! Lexie's adoption will be final on January 29th!!! Isn't that wonderful?!?!? Can y'all believe it's finally here?!?!! AMEN!

Well, have a good Christmas! See you SOON!

Missy

Hi all and espeically Missy! Glad you are getting back on program. Since I am just starting out we can support each other on our journey! And no, you do not have the market cornered on gaining weight while pregnant - I kept 20 pounds with my first child and 50 with the second and I liked it so much I gained 20 more! Now that I am a diabetic I have to get rid of this excess poundage. SB seems to be the best plan for me in all regards.

Hope everyone has a great holiday - I am at work - could not see wasting a day of vacation and sitting at home when I can come in to a work site where almost everyone is gone and still get paid to surf the internet all day!:carrot:

He finally got his stuff wrapped and all the snacks are made for tonight. So I'm relaxing and enjoying the day. Theres no excuses but my eating has been awful. It will be good when this is all over but mean while I'll enjoy the holidays.

Merry Christmas! It has been a busy day. Ruth and Erik got her about 10. I made crustless quiches for breakfast, and put out peeled grapefruit. Dinner was an awesome pork roast, mashed potatoes and gravy (and yes, I ate some) risotta made with brown rice, and broccoli in cheese sauce. For dessert I made a flourless chocolate cake with 70% chocolate. Yum!

Kaeleb got a percussion set for Christmas..it has a drum, tambourine, maraca, and xylophone. He LOVES it. He and James sat on the floor and beat on the drum for at least an hour. James had a little dog with plastic shapes for paws that he was using. Every time he tried to set the dog down and pick up the tambourine or maraca, Kaeleb would look at him, pick up the dog and hand it back to him as if to say, THIS is YOUR instrument! We laughed so hard my sides hurt.

I gave him a toy cellphone. They put him to bed about 7, and an hour later he was still in there playing with it. He also got a little rocking horse, and he seems to really like that too. Of course, he thinks his uncle James is the best thing in the world, so if James will play with it with him, he loves it!

My older daughter and her husband gave me a nice four foot folding table to use in the garagio. No dragging saw horses and boards around! yay! Erik also got my a huge bag of shop towels to use in the kitchen. I laughed when I opened them, because he is always complaining that I don't have enough towels for him when he is cooking. He cooked today, which is why the pork roast was awesome.

Tomorrow is Tom's birthday. He is working as many hours as he can get in before his contract ends on the 31st, so I will probably not see much of him this week. I hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Good morning you all..... Had a wonderful Christmas. Made my prime rib. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do with leftovers??????? I've got so much of the meat left. I got a new crockpot and a juicer. Plus a mortar and pestle. Which I'm really proud of. And I've never seen so much candy. In my stocking and gifts. I've got to give it away.

Monet- Your dinner sounds great. I loved hearing about Kaeleb. He sounds like such a doll.

Hope everyone had a great day. Be back later...

Hope everyone had a nice holiday. I am glad it is over and we can get back to semi-normal now!
I made the Bagna Cauda that is in the low carb recipes area and it rocks! It was the hit of the party with sour dough bread and fresh veggies. If you like this sort of thing you should like it. I also make Deb's cheesecake and it is amazing! This was my first time using agave syrup and it is definitely a new staple at my house.
Toni - I would take the prime rib and either add it to a salad with lettuce etc. or make it into a sandwich spread like tuna salad.

Oh, it's good to be back home! We were away for four days visiting with two of our daughters and my two granddaughters. Fun, but always tiring.

I made two cheesecakes to take with us. One without a crust and one with the Triscuit crust. My husband liked the Triscuit crust - said it tasted nutty.

Okay, I ate chocolates - and they weren't dark. I ate some kind of cakey stuff with a toffee sauce (specially made by my daughter - so can't say no). Did pretty good with only eating one plate of food at meals, but I gained back two pounds.

Monet - we have 3 or 4 inches of snow, but we didn't get hit by any of the storms they got in Ontario.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!

I went back to work today, and it was a busy one, but tomorrow will be even busier! Everyone is in such a hurry to get things done before the end of the year. I'm afraid everyone won't be happy campers...these DOC'S can only do so much!

We had a very quiet Christmas. My Nephew was over on Christmas Eve to visit for a while, but the actual day was just ME, KATE & TIPPY!! I fixed RIB
EYES on the grill, baked a couple of potatoes and fixed a salad. Tippy had her Christmas taste of RIB EYE fat but of course wanted more! We were stuffed. I in fact didn't even eat all of my steak. I hadn't been eating very much while I was sick, so it didn't take much to fill me up. I did eat all of my salad...it tasted so good to me.
I was poking around PUBLIX two weeks ago and they must have had an over abundance of RIB ROAST.....they had cut them from the bone and had a big package of them wrapped together. They even included the ribs and there is a big amount of meat on that. I think I paid $4 something a lb for them.
Now I wish I had bought more for the freezer.

TONI...I vote for a pot of soup! Do you still have the drippings from cooking the meat? Was there a bone? You don't have to use all of it, but talk about a good pot!!! Then I would take the rest and slice it into portions...wrap in wax paper, then saran wrap and put into freezer bags. VOILA!!! You can take it out when you and Steve feel like some prime rib!
I'm so glad you had a good day. After suffering with your shingles like you did, you deserve a day like you had! How are you feeling by the way? Are they gone?

MONET...I would have loved to have seen Kaeleb's face looking at James like that...did you get a picture?
Sounds like y'all have a great day. Did your MIL come? Got any leftovers? I'll be by! Wish I was coming up that way for the New Year, I'd slide in!
I've got y'all in my good thoughts...Something will come Tom's way..Tell him I said HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

DONNA..Glad you're back...We missed you. So good to hear that y'all had a good holiday! I love cheesecake!!!

JACQUE...OK...tell me what Bagna Cauda is????

When I got home, Kate had a big pot of Northern Beans cooked, and she had fried up some potatoes...I'm too tired to eat! I'll take some beans with me to work tomorrow and hope they don't give me gas!

I'm off to find something to eat. A scrambled egg sounds good to me!

Morning! I did just about nothing yesterday but go to the grocery store and fix dinner. I made steak fajitas for Tom's birthday dinner and it was pretty good. I tried to eat a very small portion but I still felt gross when I went to bed. The meds I take slow down digestion and it makes me feel ill. My morning blood sugar is astronomical again. I have NO idea why because I did not eat anything 'naughty' yesterday, and watched my portions. I have a few weeks until my next doctor appointment, but we are going to have to discuss this. It has been running WAY too high to please me, and with my ankle messed up, I have not been able to walk. I am very discouraged, and frustrated with it.

My order of bats (for my wheel) came finally yesterday, so I need to throw plates today. I probably will wander down to buy more clay first. I have been reading the book James bought for me and I have gotten a couple ideas I want to try...so I MUST work today!

I will check in later! :grouphug:

HI all!
I am at work so just wanted to drop in quickly and see what was going on. Glad to see every one is in the process of getting back to "normal".

Bob - The Bagna Cauda recipe is on the low carb recipes section of this board. Check it out!

Monet - are you feeling more stress than usual? That really raises my blood sugar readings.

Donna - how do you make the crust with Triscuits?

Gotta go - need to get some supplies ordered for the docs!

Howdy; Not much to report here. I haven't started my day yet. I didn't get to bed till almost 1 this morning. Steve came home early from work and we ended up staying up talking and watching tv. So getting around this morning has been slow. But I'm just staying in today. Later I'll do some laundry. And in a minute I'll make Steve his breakfast. So I'm boring.

Bob- a pot of soup sounds so good. I didn't get bones with my prime rib it was boneless. You always have good ideas. I also have some good sour dough bread to make sandwiches. Those northern beans sound good. Especially here in this cold weather. You sounded so tired last night I hope you got some good rest. I'm sure you're not built up good yet from being sick a while back.

Monet- Thats awful about your blood sugar being so high. What could be the cause of it? I hope your doctor has an answer. Have a good time in the gargio.....

Jakebabe- Sounds like you're awfully busy too. Have a good day.

Guess I'd better run and feed the man. He slid all over the road coming home last night in freezeing fog. Check back later.

Hey, guys! Guess who? I just wanted to pop in and say hello. It's a slow day at work today. I have a cold, wish I was in the bed. I'm trying to get back to Sugarbuster's. I think I'm in the lower 160's with my weight. I always gain from Thanksgiving to Christmas. My low is 157, which I'm hoping to see again in the near future. Today is only my second day back on track. I'm not as strict with SB as I used to be, not even when I call myself watching it. But this plan actually works for me. If I tell myself I can't have this and that, then I end up bingeing. So I keep to SB most of the time, but don't beat myself up when I don't. Alright, guys..I'll try to pop in again soon.

It's HAPPY HOUR SOMEWHERE!!!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

I'm feeling so much better. I really didn't start feeling good until Christmas Day. That one really took the wind out of my sails!

Nothing new down this way, I've just put a pan of cornbread in for Kate to have with her beans. I'm having some Hickory Farms beef stick and gouda cheese. My work partner gave me a big basket for Christmas and in it was the beef stick, a big wheel of gouda, a bottle of chardonay, some york peppermint patties and a gift card for one of the Amish places here in town.
I kinda felt bad, I gave her a handmade wooden ornament (well, it was kinda expensive, but I got my friend's discount when I bought it) and I made her a from scratch spice cake/cream cheese icing. That sucka weighed about 5 or 6 lbs. It was a big one but oh so moist...this recipe was my GM's and there's close to a lb of butter!

TONI...I was dragging last night, but I think it was because it was my first day back to work and we were busy. Thanks for noticing. SO...what did you decide to do with your Prime Rib? You can always do a hot sandwich with that sourdough bread...tell Steve to be careful out there!

LAURIE...HELLO!!! Get your butt back here. You'll have to post some updated pictures of the Kids!

JACQUE...I'll make it over there to check out that recipe. You've got my interest peeked now!

MONET...are you feeling better????? Did you get your plates done? The MUGS were a hit!

Did Jackie say if they were going to Nashville to the BALLGAME for sure?

MONET...get those SHAKERS back out of the closet...we've still got FOOTBALL to PLAY!!

I'm off to finish up supper...

Howdy Bob- I'm going to try and make a hot sandwich tonight with the prime rib tonight when Steve comes home. He'll like that I hope. Oh you've got my stuff. I love hickory farms beef stick and gouda cheese is one of my favorites. I have a wheel of it in my fridge right now. I hope you had a better day today. Get to bed early and get lots of rest. Oh I didn't tell you I got Steve the movie with Adam Sandler you said was so funny and we watched it Christmas day and got a kick out of it. Well doing laundry so better run....

Evening! I have been the model of Sugarbuster decorum today. I was very careful to eat only legal stuff. Dinner was a Lean Cuisine with whole grain rice, and brussel sprouts. I had some bleu cheese and triscuits, and some brick cheese as a snack. Breakfast was a bowl of cereal and some coffee. I never ate lunch, but I did eat a grapefruit in there somewhere.

I went down to the ceramic supply store with James, and they were CLOSED! I about had a fit! So, no throwing for me today. They reopen tomorrow, so I plan to be there early. James is supposed to go with me, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get him out the door 'early', so I think I will just go alone. I want to get back and throw plates before my friend and her daughters come to visit around 2. I might be able to get 8 plates thrown by then if I get an early start.

:frypan:Here I am (with my tail between my legs!) I have not been on here in ages, but still lurk from time to time just to keep up with everyone!! I did not realise how much increase in work I would have between working at the larger school andhaving two teens in the house now!
I am still in the 228-232 range depending on the day and I am just disgusted with myself!:p I have been a member here for over two years, I think, and have gotten nowhere! It is my fault and I certainly do not blame anyone else for it, but I have got to get myself in gear! I am blessed to have good genes in that both my parents families seem to live for a good number of years! My mom is now 83 and my dad is 73 and they still travel, go to friends houses and play cards and my dad still works 40 hr weeks! I could certainly expect to live a long quality life if I took more time doing taking care of myself. I know that God has blessed me, but I need to do some work for it too! :^:
I got a mini trampoline for Christmas and I also have an exercise ball.:trampo: I live out in the boonies and can go for long walks when I have or make time for it. Sean's high school band is one of the ones chosen for the Gator Bowl this year, so we'll be in Jacksonville for New Years, but it's on to the straight and narrow as soon as we return!! ( If you happen to catch the Gator Bowl or parade, look for the Creekview High School Marching Grizzlies in the green and blue!!)

OK yep - it's that time of year to think (once again!) about shedding pounds. I started last December/January, but had an AWFUL year so the last thing I thought about was weight. Anyway - hopefully that black cloud is behind me and I'm looking forward to beginning 2008 with renewed energy to begin dieting.

I followed Sugar Busters several years ago for a few months. I didn't lose any weight, but did feel better. (Meanwhile, my husband lost 30 lbs!) My biggest problem then was frequent cheats that I have vowed not to endulge in this time around. I'm glad I found this group because really believe the support will help.

Hello! I got my errands in...went to the post office to mail a couple packages- sales! hooray!- and then to pick up my meds at the pharmacy, then down to the ceramic store and got clay. Now I am all ready to go throw. I have about two hours to make at least eight plates. I hope I can get it done!

THIN: Good to see you! I will look for Sean's band if I watch the Gator Bowl! (who is playing in it? BOB will smack me for that...hehhe)

Morning all- Just having my coffee. Hope everyone is doing okay today. Steve has off four days again so hopefully we can get some stuff done today. Like putting our house back together. We've been lazy about doing anything. I'll need to run to the store this week end and get some fruits and vegetables.

Monet- You'll be working hard to get those plates done. Good luck on them.

Snap-:welcome: Do you have the book? It helps to go over it again even if you've been on it before. We're going to have a good year I just know it. We're about the same in our weights and heights.

Okay guess I'll go finish my coffee and do something like unpack a box or two.

Sanps - Welcome to the group - it is really nice to be able to ask questions and get support and ideas.

Jacque - the Triscuit crust was under one of the cheesecake recipies on the SB site - but I changed it a bit. You crush enough of the low salt Trisuits to make 1 cup and then add some melted butter and Splenda. I baked the crust for about 10 min. before I added the cheese cake part.

I got myself a book called "Choice Menus" which says it's for quick and easy meals and menus to help you prevent or manage Diabetes. It's got detachable menus for 30 breakfasts, lunches, suppers and snacks - and recipies. I find it really helps with the "what am I going to eat today?" days. It does suggest some of the non-SB foods like potatoes, but it's easy to do one's own adjustments.

I'm having a "housecleaning" day today - so far it's going pretty well.

Good Morning all - thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, I have the book - actually have a couple of them! I have the "original" and last year bought the new updated version. I have reread several sections. Went to the grocery store to stock up on the correct foods, and am really gearing up to GO.

One of my problems is always breakfast. Big hurry in the morning, so typically grab a breakfast bar and coffee to eat in route to work. Are any of the breakfast bars OK on SB?

My company is helping A LOT. They have invited all employees to get a group of 8 - 10 people together for a team. Each person will have a private weigh-in between January 2 - 4. Then will have a weekly weigh-in within their team. Every 2 weeks, there will be a motivational speaker - nutrition, physical therapy, goal setting, etc. At the end of March, there will be a "prize" for the team with the greatest weight loss percentage. :carrot:

Morning! I could not sleep last night so I wandered down to the garagio and threw a few items. It is so wet here (too bad it is not really rain, which we need desperately!) things are not drying very quickly. I hope I can trim my plates and the things I threw last night and get them drying today. Before I went back to bed, I checked my blood sugar and it had come down a nice amount (still too high!) so I walked and paced around the kitchen, dining room and living room 'circle' for ten minutes and brought it down another 15 points. This morning it is still high, but MUCH better. I am thinking my inability to walk 45 minutes every day is key here.

SNAPS: That is cool that your company is offering that! It is unusual to find a company that is generous with their employees now days. Most are cutting budgets, and benefits and perks with no concern for their employees at all! For breakfast, how about a carton of yogurt? I often will eat a protein bar. I like the NitroTech bars by Muscletech. I am very careful not to eat soy (thyroid issues) so I get the whey protein ones. Just read the labels to make sure they are not loaded with sugar. Many of them have sugar alcohols which are ok, but can cause lower GI distress. ;)

I have several questions. Can anyone recommend a good pasta? I dearly LOVE thin spaghetti with a fresh tomato sauce and have to admit that all of the ww pasta I have ever tasted tastes more like cardboard. Is DreamField pasta ok? cause I think that one taste pretty good.

Does anyone have a recipe for sourdough bread made with ww? We make our bread and I sure hate to throw my starter away after all these years, but don't want to deliberately sabotage myself! After eating our homemade sourdough bread all this time, I fear that I'm going to have a tough time going back to tasteless ww bread - am going to do it.

Is there anyplace that I can find a list of brand name products? Since I'm just getting back into this, think it would be easier with a bit more guidance until I "get the hang" of this a bit more.

Hope everyone has a great day. Am getting ready to watch the bowl game this afternoon then settle down for the Patriots/Giants game tonight. Sorry to have to root against the Patriots, but remember that Eli is from New Orleans - and so am I. His dad, Archie, his mom Olivia and I went to Ole Miss and we are HUGE Saints fans. So you can see that success isn't really necessary for me to be loyal!! :cheer:

Howdy doodie; Just popping in for a quick check in. Been working around the house today. I'm getting my drapes washed and Steve is putting them up again. Eating has been light today. I had a piece of sourdough bread toast for breakfast and an avocado for lunch. I think dinner is going to be steak sandwiches from leftover prime rib.

Monet- I hope you're able to get back to walking regular again soon. I'm hopeing to get my treadmill cleared out by the 2nd. so I can walk again. Hope those plates turn out good.

Donna- The tricuit crust sounds really good. I may have to try that.

Thin- Hey girl. Hope you're doing well.

Lady- come back and join us?

Snaps- Your company sounds great. What inspiration and support. Sourdough bread is okay to eat in moderation. I do eat dreamfields pasta but don't know if its really legal to do so. I know ww is the best. But I'm like you I don't really like it.

Hello everyone! I have been away from the computer most of the day, so I am just now getting a chance to check in.

SNAPS: Let me see if I can answer some of your questions. Pasta is ok if it is 100% durum wheat semolina. It does not HAVE to be whole wheat. A good quality pasta not made with enriched flour, but durum semolina that is not overcooked does not have a very high GI. I think the eggs in the pasta help slow the absorption. If you like Dreamfield pasta, use it. It is high fiber and probably fairly low GI. On the sourdough bread, sourdough is ok in moderation, but whole grains are better. Why not sub some of your white flour for whole wheat in your recipe and see how that goes? I know you can find lots of whole wheat sourdough recipes online, at places like Recipezaar, and SOAR, and YumYum. Try adapting your recipe first though. It may work much better. And once you get it perfected, can I have the recipe? :) I am not aware of any brand name lists on here. The problem is a brand I use may not be available outside of the south east. Perhaps you can ask what you are looking for specifically and the others on here can share what brands they use?! Saints fan eh? Didn't Bobby Hebert play for the Saints? I know he had a few year stint with the Atlanta Falcons...

Ladyfirefighter - The book is Choice Menus by Marjorie Hollands & Margaret Howard. It's published by a Canadian company. I haven't checked but it might be available through Amazon or one of those online book sites. I bought it at Chapters - but I don't think that's a US store.

I weighed in today - no weight lost - might have something to do with finishing off some Christmas chocolate.

Used the above book to make up a week-long menu yesterday. My poor hubby is sick and has only felt like chicken soup for the past couple days, so the menu may last for a couple weeks!

Have a great New Year everybody. I've been enjoying my time off this past couple weeks, but I'm looking forward to getting back to work (accounting & income tax) and especially to wrapping up my hubby's business books now that he has retired from his appliance repair business. I am soooo looking forward to never having to fill out another warranty form - ever!

Hey all! I am at work for awhile - did not want to waste a day of vacation and if I was at home I would be thinking of food so I am better off here anyway!
Aldis has a mini trampoline this week for $39. I had some Christmas present money so I went this morning and got one. I used to have one and I really enjoyed it. I have been reading lately how good one is for non-impact exercise and also serves as a good lymphatic cleanser. Several sites say how beneficial it is for diabetics so that clinched it for me! Anyone else here use one?

Hi all - Happy New Year!!!

Monet, thanks for all of the advice. We are going to work on the sourdough and see what we can do. I may also try to pull out the old bread machine and just make some whole wheat in there until I have time to try to perfect the sourdough. If and when I get it perfected, I'll be happy to share the recipe.

Yep, Bobby Hebert played for the Saints. He is back now with a pre and post game talk show. Same old guy - lots of hot air, but all in all he is really a nice guy.

As much as I LOVE football, I am just about footballed out already. It seems like football has been on nonstop for d-a-y-s now! Mississippi State won their bowl game, the Saints lost, so my one BIG hope now is for LSU on the 8th. Of course, MY alma mater is so pitiful this year (Ole Miss) that they didn't stand a chance for a bowl game - guess there's always hope for next year. Have to believe that my husband is secretly grinning since his alma mater is the University of Southern Mississippi and they did go a bowl game.

Just saw the posts about the trampoline. Mini advice - try one first! I bought one a couple of years ago. Now - you have to close your eyes and try to picture this. short, fat, large breasted lady attempting to bounce on that thing. I got to bouncing so hard that my boobs bopped up and about knocked me out! After only about 4 or 5 bounces, I was trying to hold onto to boobs and the balance bar at the same time when I fell off and sprained an ankle and a knee! I packed it up and gave it to my granddaughters who love it! I understand that some have these things and really like them, but they weren't for me! :D

Happy New Year, everyone (a few hours early).

I feel like someone filled me with air with a tire pump, I feel so bloated. Bleh. I'm going to try and talk Derek into taking the clothes off the bike and the stepper and set them up in the basement so we can use them down there. We already have a TV set up and then find a time when I can do it regularly.

Okay...off to play Rockband with Shelley and Derek...Im the singer. :lol3: It's pretty funny. I sang Nirvana yesterday. As if!!

Somebody get a hammer and some nails! Lets nail Tech's shoes to the floor in here....

The kids have a bunch of friends over. It is loud and messy downstairs. There are bowls of chips, cheese dip, and all kinds of crap all over the place. I spent two hours in the garagio throwing bowls. I may go back there and work some more, but it is cold and I am tired.

I got a new exercise ball today. James and his friends some how managed to get a hole in my old one. I love bouncing on it, and just like jumping on a trampoline, it helps stimulate the lymphatic system, as well as strengthen the core muscles. I have other exercises I can do with it too. I need to do something until my ankle is no longer hurting so I can walk.

SNAPS: :) Bobby Hebert went to church with us here in Atlanta. His son was in the program I was the director of. GREAT family. His wife is a lovely woman, very warm and caring. One of the boys in the program was SO impressed with who Bobby's son was, and was telling his mother that Bobby Hebert's son was in his group. Bobby's wife overheard the conversation, tapped her on the shoulder, introduced herself and invited the little boy over to play! It just MADE that kids year! haha!
