100 lb. Club - DECEMBER Points Challenge (This has NOTHING to do with WW)

DECEMBER CHALLENGE...the holidays are here! This is when we start to really get busy and sometimes lose our focus. How about a challenge as a last ditch effort to help keep us on the straight and narrow for the next month? It's somewhere to check in...some friendly competition. Come join us for our monthly challenge!!
Since this is a monthly challenge, it will start on the 1st and the day of the month is the day of the challenge. You need to post your points on a daily basis (or whenever you can). Simply reply to this post and then edit that post as you add points (no columns please). That way you always know where you are and so do I! I will calculate and post the totals, on a weekly basis.
For those of you who have NO IDEA what I am talking about - here are the details. Sometimes we work our hardest when we are held accountable. So I challenge you to do your very best for the month and we'll see who wins!!
Here is how it's going to go. Starting Today, December 1, 2007. We will try to do the 3 things that work. Food, water & exercise. You decide what your food plan is, how much water you want to drink and how much exercise you want to get every day. Every day you have the opportunity to earn 4 points.
2 point for sticking with your food plan (no splitting points here, you either stuck to your plan or you didn't)
1 point for drinking the amount of water you decided on
1 point for getting some exercise. (If you don't exercise on a given day - you DO NOT get a point for exercise - even if you planned it that way)
Post here with how many points you've earned for a given day, and I will keep track. We'll see who's did the best for the month.
This is a very cool way to keep on track, because even if you don't do so great on food, you might still get in your water and exercise to earn the points!

Exercise: 30 minutes a day, either walking or DVD

Exercise: (Once my foot is healed) 2 ten min. walks on workdays. At least 30 min. treadmilling on work days (except WW meeting nights). Weekends/Days off = Yoga DVD.

Yay! I was hoping we would be doing this again. I found it really motivating last month--thanks sandy!!!
Food: Mine will be a tad different this month. This month I will be calorie counting. daily 1500-1800 max
Water: again, 8 glasses
Exercise: again, 30 mins a day minimum

I'm going to join! This is exactly what I need.
Food - Stay between 1700 and 2000 calories
Water - Drink some. I'm shooting for 1 liter per day, but really I'll be happy if I can just drink something besides Diet Coke.
Exercise - Go for my run. I had so much trouble with this last month. It has to be the full three miles minimum, or it doesn't count.
12/01 - 4 pts (3 miles)
12/02 - 4 pts (5 miles)
12/03 - 4 pts (4 miles, just barely made it on the calories)
12/04 - 4 pts (3 miles)
12/05 - 4 pts (3 miles)
12/06 - 4 pts (3 miles)

12/08 - 4 pts (3 miles - my legs were killing me)

Good thing my food goal wasn't to get 5 F&V each day this month or I'd be failing! But since it's just a calorie number, I'm usually ok. Not today though. I think in January, I'm going to put more of an emphasis on veggies and have that be in my food goal each day. Right now the days are all a blur because I'm so busy. And nothing is wrapped yet! It will be so nice when the holidays are over...:)

I've been having this thought nearly daily for about a week and a half now... too many celebrations. I am obviously not mentally prepared enough to tough it out. At least I know that next December I will not accept so many party invitations... 8 holiday parties plus two birthdays are killing me this month.
Oh well, December 26th is not far off now and I'm happily surprised to not have gained anything since Thanksgiving. And I'm always amazed at how "on plan" so many of you are able to be... Congratulations and keep up the good work!! :xcheer:

I am doing okay with eating. I am not going over my calorie limit - but I am having a few cookies here and there, so I am not giving myself points for the food.
I have enlisted my husband's help to keep me on plan over the weekend, so that I don't have too much damage on Christmas Eve (our big dinner).

I'm not counting calories on Christmas Day, and I think the only reason I've managed to stay on plan is to try to minimize the damage. Actually, I'm surprised it's been going this well. I expected lots of calorie screw-ups.

This time of year is so challenging. I work on Mondays and Fridays (in a peds clinic), so those days have been hard since there is so much junk in the office. Yesterday was horrible...the closer it is to Christmas the more it piles up! There's this Mom who makes us brownies that are to die for each Christmas. I had to use all my self control to only eat one-I cut it into 4 pieces so it felt like more! Plus last night was girls night out at a really cool Tapas bar. Which went ok...although I didn't get food points yesterday...and it would sound like food porn if I went into detail about the amazing selection of tapas I tasted. I like ordering this way...and then only take a bite or two of each selection. It's probably 50-80 calories a bite - that's how I averaged it at least - probably high, but I'd rather figure over than under when I don't know.
I think actual Christmas is going to be Ok. I'm 1 of 7 kids and my family is celebrating tonight (big dinner) with many of my siblings, and basically having Christmas morning tomorrow. We cannot travel over until tomorrow night since Dh is on call, so we'll miss the big meal - and also 2 of my sisters who always brings tons of good homemade goodies. I'm sorry to miss them, but not their food!

Well, I might have made allowances for the food, except that I give blood regularly (I'm o negative, so someone always needs it) and I don't think I've ever come home and eaten that much afterwards. Normally I allow an extra snack, and that's fine. I don't know what happened yesterday. Christmas leftovers? Chips and salsa? Spice cookies? Bring them on! It would have been funny if it wasn't so awful.

well, you all seem to be doing pretty fabo in my opinion:D . Looking at all of our points I have to say that we all did pretty well. This has been my best december in years (not to say though that I don't wish I could have done better, but you all know what I mean). Anyways, congratulations and happy new years to everyone!:xcheer:

Yeah, for sure! This was the best December yet when it come to weight loss. I lost 12 pounds!! And I didn't kill myself doing it. There were mess ups, but overall I'm very happy with how this holiday season went. We have no plans tonight involving food, so I'm done with this holiday season!
