Well I thought we were getting a little full on the last thread! I am drinking a ton of water tdday...I had alcohol last night and I must flush out my system. I hate when I give in to temptation! Anyway..I did do the treadmill yesterday and plan on doing it today as well. Hope you are all having a great weekend and staying on plan!

Marcie don't you just hate that temptation, good job keeping up with the treadmill though. Even though I have been having trouble with cheating I also stick to my exercise and drinking my water.
Jibbelle we are getting a digital scale at our center, did you have a difference in weight the first time you went on?
I did O.K. with take off this time I went down just about 2 pounds from Saturday. I will take it I just feel that I keep losing the same weight over and over.
The center let me get an extra year of maintence for $79.00 I wanted the extra time to keep myself on track.
Have a great week

I do not really remember if the new scale made a difference the first time. I think you will like the digital one better though!

Two pounds down is great!!!

I went to the center today, but didnt look to see what I weighed. I will post on Saturday. It is going to be a hectic week so I told them I would not be back in until Saturday this week.

Hey ladies. I haven't posted in a while. I called today and put my plan on hold. I am going to the doctor Thursday to discuss my " emotional health". I just couldn't concentrate on the program. I did make it to aerobics tonight. That is something that I need to keep up.

I hope you all are doing well. I hope to keep posting even though I am not op right now.

Talk to you all soon,

Good Luck Crystal Takke care of yourself it is hard to lose weight when other things get in the way.
I am having a good week so far I am finally back to where I was and maybe a little bit more before I started my Holiday cheating.
When I weighed today she weighed me on both scales the digital and the regular one to see what the difference was not that much the digital one was about 1/2 pound more not to bad.
I hope all is going well with everyone else.
Have a good night

Hello all-

I just wanted to drop in really quick to say hello. Things have been super hectic so I have not had much time to post. I will be back in Saturday after weigh in.

Katie-
I will fill you in on the details then if no one else does before then.

Diane-
Congrats on being back down! Good luck on getting to that goal!

Hi Katie:
I paid I think about $343.00 That is for the weight loss, stabalization and 1yr of maintence. the bars are extra you can buy them up front which is usually cheaper or twenty eight dollars a week.
I have lost about 58 pounds, I liked doing this program because of the structure that they give you.
Good luck

Wow, everyone must be really busy! I hope you are all having a great week. I have had a rough week at work which in turn has caused me to make some not so good decisions food wise. I only worked out one day this week, but I am getting ready to jump on the treadmill right now and sat., and sun. to make up for the week. I have been kinda down this week and I hate it. Things will look up though.

Honey, I am sorry to hear that you had to put the program on hold. I hope you are feeling ok and please keep us updated!

Hey ladies. My ob/gyn gave me a prescription for paxil. It takes 2 to 3 weeks to reach theraputic levels, so I'll just hang out and hope that I see a change. I hope you all are doing well.

I just went to the center. I was down 2.2 lbs for the week! The plateau break I did really helped. WOOHOO I am back on track now. I am not sure if I will make it to my Valentine's goal but I am sure going to try. I have to lose 6.4 lbs in 3 weeks. I guess that is doable. I am going for it ladies!!!

Anyone else have any short term goals??

marciew
01-26-2002, 02:48 PM
Jibbelle, Congrats on your loss WEIGH TO GO!! I know you can make your Valentine's goal! I do have a short term goal and I am shooting to be at 195 by Valentine's day! I am fluctuating back and forth right now and it sucks..so I think I have about 8 pounds to go. Don't know if I can do it, but I will certainly try my hardest. I know that the key is exercise so I will keep at it.

honey, good luck with the paxil. I am on prozac and have been on it for a while. I am going to see my doctor on Tues. to dicuss it. Good luck and keep us in touch!!!

Marcie-
I think we can make our Valentine's goals if we try really hard! If I make mine it will be 50 lbs total loss! That will just be amazing. I think that will put me down another size. WOOHOO What a motivator!

Keep on that treadmill girl! We can make it!!!!

Hi Ladies:
i have been a little bit busy lately.
I can't cheat for anything lately especially if I want to finish. I cheated on thursday and weighed in on Saturday I was up two pounds. I guess I don't have anything to play with like I did in the beginning. I was thinking of quitting at this point and start stabalization, but then I tried on a bathing suit I was not to happy with it so I am going to finish and reach the goal that I set out to do. I have nine weeks left I made it through nine weeks before without cheating there is no reason why I can't do it now.
Jibbelle reaching that 50 pound mark is going to be great for you, it was for me, I will be reaching my 60 pound mark in two pounds some time I can't believe it.
Marcie good luck with your Valentine goal, I think of you each time I use my treadmill.
Have a nice evening all

Do you know much about the stabalization and maintenance. Is the food plan going to be like a gold or purple plan forever???

01-28-2002, 06:52 PM
Hello all! I'm a newbie here at 3fatchicks. Great site. I've been on LA weight loss for about 3 months and I've lost 25 pounds. Not really two a week, but I haven't been that great at not cheating either.

I also work there, I loved the people so much I signed up to work. It is the best place to work.

My center is based in Avonadle, AZ and I had a question, first of all what's the two pound challange, we're all owned by different people, so I didn't know if they did something specail for you if you hit the 2 pound mark every week, or if it was just an emotional thing.

Well, I've got 30 pounds more to go, so if you don't mind I'll stick around for the support. =)

Thanks,
Jen

Hi Jibbelle:
Once in a while the councelors will mentioned something that i can have on stabalization. I hope it is not like the gold or purple but I bet it is not everything we want either. I think we are going to have to be careful if we want to keep the weight off. I think sour cream was mentioned, syrup but not mech else I have not been asking lately just trying to stay away from the cheating. I was thinking ahead of myself but I was worried when maintence was over so I bought an extra year for $79.00
Jen welcome and the two pound challenge is just for motivation here. We have goals that we think of ourselves the two pound goal I think is was started by Marcie.

Hi Everyone,
I have not been here in a long time. I love to cook at the holidays and make goodies to give away.
I have just decided I cannot do this. It aways backfires.
DianeM1, I noticed that you said that you could sign up for $79 for another year?
I paid $343 for a year. My year will be up in March and I need to renew. I hear from others that they get a year plus a year for maintence.
All reply please and let me know how your center works.
My 30 year reunion is coming up August 24th.
I just have to have lost my weight by then.
I wish there was someone else that could do the program with me.
I got a treadmill and want to work out with videos to boost by loss.
Any ideas from anyone.

Hi Marcie:
Thanks for making me feel successful . You made my day.
I think we all can make things possible. The support hear is wonderful and no matter how many times we slip, I feel it is important to just keep going.
Sharon this is the third time I did La weight loss I have never made it this far before, but the program fee I always had to repay, sometimes they would give me 10% off for trying again. The $79.00 I paid was for a extra year of maintence, I asked if I could do that because I felt 1 yr of maintence was not enough.
I went over my weight loss weeks in November and have bought extra weeks along the way. I paid $7.00 a week for the extra weeks I wanted for weight loss. My year is up in April.
If I have not answered your question let me Know

I am supposed to be studying for a test, but instead I am putting out fires.

#1 Last night while doing laundry a little bit if water backed up in the basement floor. No damage, just skinky. So....there is a guy here snaking the drain.

#2 Every time the furnace kicks on the breaker trips. So...we have no heat. The electrician should be here before noon.

So...did not make it to the center. Thankfully I have enough bars to last till Saturday.

Good thing I have most of my studying done, but I still have a couple more things to memorize.

Welcome back to Sharron

Thanks Diane for the info.
Have you got to try out the new carmel crunch bars yet?
All we can get are the lemon and berry that are new. I made me a calendar on Microsoft so I can keep track of how many days until my class reunion.
I am trying anything to keep me focused.
I even thought about making a scrapbook starting with when I first started and keeping track of my loss and maybe try and take photos of me every couple weeks.
Any ideas?

Good luck with the test. I hope the fires are finished.
Did everyone get the nice weather I do not want winter to come back.
Sharon my center does not have the carmel yet still waiting.
I would keep track of my measurements I know sometimes at my center they would forget and not do it every four weeks. I had alot of clothes that I did not fit into and I would try them on to see how far I was from fitting them silly but it kept me going.
good luck

Test is over! WOHOOO

Diane-
We had some incredible weather earlier this week. It got into the 70s in Jan!!! Unfortunately, it is back in the 30s now. We are going to get some nasty weather over the next couple of days.

I am waiting on those caramel crunch bars as well. I keep forgetting to ask at the center if they know when they will be getting them. I really dont like the berry and lemon so much. Chocolate crunch remains my favorite.

Sharron-
I forgot to do this, but keep a piece of clothing that is your current size. You can try it on a few months from now and see how big it is! And try it on again when you get to your goal and it will be rediculous!!!

My center takes poloroids of you when you start...and again when you finish. They have a whole wall of before and after shots. Do all the centers do this?

Hi All,
Has anyone had a problem with the take off program.
My counseler told me to do it over since I have not been doing so good after the holidays.

Had no problem with it the first time, which was a year ago.

I hope you feel better. What plan are you on.

The take off must be different now than before.
The take off was 3 days all the meat and green veggies. 2 oranges, water 2 eggs.
I was told the only difference with the juice of that is what you drink instead of eating the oranges. Oranges are cheaper, don't you think.
I want to lose all my weight by Aug 24, my 30 year class reunion.
I want to be able to visit with friends without being embarrassed.
The reunion is in Michigan and I live in Tennessee now.
There are so many friends I have not seen in a long time, but I feel so depressed with all of the weight I have gained.
Am I boo whooing to much?

Thanks for reminding me about saving a piece of clothing.
I am a Creative Memories Consultant (Scrapbooking)
I want to keep a picture diary of my journey with photos and measurements.
Plus write down what problems I had with losing and what successes I had.
I thought that might boost my enthusiasm
The weather here is beautiful today. I can't believe it is in the 70's . I have the windows open, but going to be in the 40's tomorrow.
Did you ask your center about the carmel bars?
I wrote LA weightloss on www.laweightloss.com and they could not help me.
They sound good.

Sharon:
I did the take off with the oranges, I am suprised they want you to do it again, after the holidays my center said I could not do it, they said I could do the 2-day take off if I wanted. I even gained about six pounds then.
I don't remember how much you said you wanted to lose but you have over six months, don't put so much pressure on your self. You can do this I am sure you want to do this for yourself also not just a class reunion. I did not go to my class reunion because I was to embarrassed, I would send my husband to parties without me because I did not want to ge out looking as I did. I know how you are feeling. You can boo who all you want as long as it helps.
My friend joined WW this past week and she only lost 2.25 pounds and I thought it was great, ( She wanted to lose 10pounds her first weigh in) because at the first week of LA I only lost one. She said to me you only lost 1-2 pounds a week and I said yes. I told her I just keep going I do what I need to do to lose the weight I want.
I know it is hard but food has to become seperate from what you are feeling for me it was my crutch every time I was feeling depressed did not help much.
I hope I did not go on to much.
Good luck

Hi ya girls! Just caught up on the posting. Well I lost 1.4 of the 4 pounds I put back on over my vacation. Good thing I had a blast at Disneyland or the pounds would not have been worth it. .6 pounds to go for my 2 pound challenge.

If I ever start sounding too much like a counselor and not a client just hit me, but I couldn't resist.

We've had a lot of clients asking about the carmel bars as well. What was described to me was that they test marketed them and the clients were saying "Those buttersctoch bars are great." So rather than redo the boxes, they reformulated the bars to make them taste more carmel. Go figure, most people say it would be good to have both carmel and butterscotch. Oh well.

As to the take off issue. There are two of them. There is an express Take off which is the begining of the plan (3 days, lots of meat and veggies, etc). There is also a 2 day juice express. The first one you're only supposed to do in the begining of the program. Otherwise the otherone with the juice you can do as often as your center tells you.

Didn't get around to the work out the other day. I've been very depressed lately, eating stuff like BOWLS of mac and cheese, I think I've finally gotten the hang of it. Two days back on plan, and I think I've got it again. It's rough, but I'm working with it as much as you guys.

Good luck!!

Hey all!

There is a big superbowl potluck lunch at work today. GO RAMS! But darn all those muchies. I brought a big tray of veggies and some lowfat dip. They are providing Subway and who knows what everyone else is bringing. If nothing else I can have subway and raw veggies. Must resist the temptation!!! No other news really. I am going to weigh in tomorrow AM and see if I am down for the week. I have not made it to the center all week, but things have been so hectic. Between work and school I am going crazy! Hi all,
Went to weigh in and lost 2 pounds. I could not do the 3 day. One more look at meat and it made me sick. I think the headache was from that too.
I feel great now. Of course I took Ibuprofen yesterday and that makes you weigh more for weigh in. At least I lost. I was told today we may not get the carmel crunch in Tennessee and I don't know what other states that will not get them either.
I called the phone number on the box and left a message for them to call me back so I can complain.
I want another bar to chose from. Those berry and lemon are not my thing. I want chocolate.
I am also going to write to the address on the box to complain or find out if I can order from another center . I WANT CARMEL CRUNCH.How do you all feel about that.
Has anyone tryed them?
Sharon

Jibbelle
02-01-2002, 07:53 PM
I would like to have the new crunch bars as well. I really like the consistency of the chocolate crunch better than all of the other bars. It is not as chewy. I think the lemon and berry are terrible. They taste like a giant skittle or something.

Congrats on the loss Sharon!!! That is great.

I am going to weigh in tomorrow at 8am, so I will post the verdict!

I did really well at the superbowl party today. I had a piece of the subway sandwich, some raw veggies (with less than a teaspoon of dip that I counted as my fat) and one small bite of brownie (ok...so maybe I fudged just a little! ). All in all, not too shabby.

I am having a salad with grilled chicken and fat free dressing for dinner.

Hello Everyone!

I'm new to 3FatChicks, but after reading the posts I knew I had to register and join in.

I'm on LA Weight Loss here in Maryland; I joined just before Thanksgiving and started the day afterward. I'm on the Purple Plan and about to turn into a grilled chicken breast. So far, I've lost a little over 19 pounds; I'm averaging almost 2 pounds a week.

I like it fine; the center is good, although they're very shorthanded lately. They installed the digital scale recently; I kind of like it because there's little room for error.

I guess the only thing I'm not fond of is that they tend to push the expensive supplements. I'm not sure they're effective; I'm especially wary of the fat blocker stuff.

Anybody have any feedback/experience with them?

I'm glad to be here!

Cheers,
Mary

Jibbelle

Mary-

I am afraid you may get more feedback than you bargained for!! I am pretty lucky in that things are running smoothly at my center right now...even though they are without a manager.

They never push the supplements, which I am thankful for! I bought all the bars I would need for a whole year up front, so they dont have to bug me about that either. I just pick up two boxes once a week. All in all....they are pretty good.

19 pounds is great! Keep it up!!!

MaryR
02-02-2002, 11:38 AM
Thanks, Jibbelle!

You're lucky they don't push the supplements! I bought a year's worth of bars up front, too. They really help me; I feel pretty good about the fact that I haven't had an *official* candy bar since Thanksgiving! :p

Well, I'm off to the center now for my Saturday weigh-in. Here's hoping!

Cheers,

Hi Everyone:
Welcome Mary Great job. I started on the purple now I am on the gold probably till I finish.
Jen do you find it hard being a client and working there at the same time?
Mary my center usually does not push anything either just when they are having a sale, they try to get you to but. I also bought the bars in the beginning. I do use the supplements but not the fat blocker.
Jibbelle I am not a football fan but I am rooting for your team.
My weigh in went well today I was down from the other day, I am eating too much of the frozen foods, but if the scale keeps going down I am not going to worry about it. I have a dinner tonight my Mother's 60th birthday not sure if I will have cake or not I will see how I feel then.

Boy Howdy!

Down 1.6! So I've broken through the magical 20 pound barrier. Yippee!

Actually, I track my loss from October 15, 6 weeks before I joined LA Weight Loss, because that's when I really started this particular journey. Long story short:

I had a bout of viral meningitis in early October (think severe migraine headache, complete with nausea) for one week straight. After I more or less recovered, I saw a new doctor, who (natch) weighed me. While my weight was a shocker, my blood pressure scared the daylights out of me: 195/110. The doc put me on meds and suggested (nicely) that I really ought to lose weight.

And so it began.

So, tracking from October 15, I've lost 29.2 pounds; tracking from joining LA Weight Loss, I've lost 21.2.

Hope everyone has a terrific weekend!
Cheers,
Mary

1.6 is GREAT Mary! WOOHOO

The weight loss should really help with your blood pressure. Are you exercising also?

I also had medical problems that initiated my weight loss, so we are kind of in the same boat. I had a very rare degenerative joint disease that completely destroyed my left hip. When I was 25 I had to have a total hip replacement. The drugs I was on when I first started having problems (age 20ish) are what led to my weight gain over about 5 years. Well...along with lack of the ability to exercise. I was never a skinny child, but never like I was after I started having hip problems. Thankfully, that is all behind me now and it is time to lose lose lose!!! The doctor tells me my hip will last a lot longer if I can get under 200. I am shooting for 160-170, which is where I was before I started having problems.

Take care all and lets be BIG LOSERS this week!!!

:p

Hi guys, congrats on such a good week for some of you.

As for me, I need serious help. Yesterday alone I ate 3 pieces of Cheescake and so far today I've had 3 cookies and a few other little nibbles of things. I can inspire others at work, but I can not get my butt back on plan. I need something to inspire me, any one have any suggestions??

Thanks for the help.
Jen

When you start cheating it is soooo hard to get back on track. I cant think of anything specific that motivates or inspires me...other than my minigoals. I have a lot to lose and it is too hard to think of it all in one big chunk!

A counselor at the center told me that she ate 5 chocolate crunch bars in one day!!! GEEZ, that was an expensive snack! She said she was bored and hungry and couldnt help it. That is one thing I have not cheated on!

Hi Jen,

Hang in there. It helps me to sit down, get quiet, and really visualize myself at goal. I get really really detailed: what my hair looks like, what I'm wearing, how I'm feeling, what I'm doing. Then I write it down. Right now, I'm thinking about a banquet I'll be attending in May, where I'm getting a nice award. Although I won't be at goal, I'll be close; so I've already decided what I'm wearing (a sophisticated silk pantsuit, with a long jacket that crosses over in front and fastens with a single rhinestone button). (Don't know what color yet!)

Then, go over your list of why you're doing this and what the rewards have been so far and what the rewards will be when you're done. If you don't have a list yet, make one. Keep copies handy; even post one on the fridge if you have to.

It's okay to get frustrated. And you're not a bad person for "practicing maintenance prematurely". Feel it, finish it, and go forward!

Good luck!

Cheers,
Mary

PS: Jibbelle, thanks for the message! Wow! You've really been through it! Isn't it amazing what a difference it makes when your health is at stake? I'm still on BP meds (Maxide), but it's down to 110/68. One of the things I really like about LAWL is getting my BP checked each week. When I don't lose as much I'd like, I just look at THAT number and I feel much better!

Great advice Mary!

I am glad to hear that your blood pressure is down. I also like the fact that they check it at the center, although some people that work there dont really know what they are doing! :dizzy:

Tuesday I have work, then class from 6:30-9:30 pm. Leaving for Madison (on the corporate jet!) at 7am Wed morning. I have to get everything packed and ready to go this evening so I dont have to mess with it Tuesday night when I get home. It is going to be a hectic couple of days!

Hi Everyone,

So my Monday weigh-in resulted in a .2 (that's "point-two") pound loss. I'll take it! After 1.6 on Saturday, it's just dandy. I'm still averaging 1.9 pounds/week. And this with my "heavy pants" on, too!

Cheers,
Mary

Hi All:
Jen I know how you feel I caught the cheating bug too. I did terrible over the weekend a little better today. When I first started I did the mini goals also. Sometimes I will even take one day at a time as a goal they I go from there. Do you still have a councelor that you weigh in with, someone to show your diary to so you can't cheat?
I think my cheating has to do with being scared of finishing and reaching my goal believe it or not, I am just fighting it, I know I am sick of chicken also Jibbelle, but in a way I like the security the center gives weighing in all of the time. I know I am kind of weird but I guess going there for a year has got me attached to the place and they have good councelors now and I enjoy talking to them.
I am going to finish, it has been a long time since I have finished a weight loss program and reached my goal.
Great Job over the weekend Mary.

Well the cheesecake caught up to me.

Monday weigh in resulted in a 4 pound gain. OUCH!

Well, it came on, it will come back off.
Thanks for the good advice everyone. I finally got it in my brain that this is not just for looks, but for health reasons. I have to loose, and this is what works. I HAVE to loose and this will help me loose.

So, I guess I'll get there, slowly if need be, but I will be healthy.

Good luck everyone. Thanks for the help this weekend, and trust me the cheesecake is not worth the pounds.

I have seen a quote on this site several times that applies to cheating...

"nothing tastes as good as thin feels"

Maybe we should think about that next time we grab for something that isnt on plan!!! :)

I have also found that just a bite helps sometimes too....that is what I did at Thanksgiving and Christmas. When I really wanted a slice of pumpkin pie, I had a bite. It helped satisfy the craving. My Thanksgiving plate was turkey and raw veggies plus a bite of stuffing, bite of mashed potates, and bite of cranberry salad. :dizzy: It wasnt exactly on plan, but it satisfied the craving for the food and it was much better than binging.

I follow several sites to myself motivated; one of them is onephatman.com, run by a guy named Fred. Check it out sometime.

One of the things that I really like about Fred is how he decides what to eat. He asks himself:

Will this help me, hurt me, or hinder me?

"Help" means that the food would aid his weight loss efforts; "Hurt" means that the food would be bad for his weight loss efforts; "Hinder" means that the food wouldn't be bad, but wouldn't help either.

Just asking this simple question has helped me avoid cheating. The few times that I have gone off the program, I have done so consciously and by choice; for example, on Christmas I ate whatever I wanted for dinner. I gained over a pound as a result, but because I made the choice, I was okay with the gain (which came off quickly).

Cheers,
Mary

Hi Ladies:
How is your week going? I am back on track and feeling pretty good.
The manager is picking three people from our center for a commerical, and she keeps mentioning it to me, I am not sure I would want to do it, I feel a little embarrassed.
I am going to do 2 day take-off I want to get out of the 140's.
Hey Marcie we haven't heard from you, How are you doing?
I added a little bit of running when I use the treadmill it seems to get my heart rate up a bit.
Here is a quote I read on another forum:
What you eat in private, shows in public, this one bothered me because when I cheat I usually do it by myself.

How true that quote is.
I am having trouble staying on program.
I just can't get it into my head that
I have to do this, especially for my health.
I know I am not the only one with this problem.
I just need to get out of this slump.
I am getting a new panel on my treadmill today.
Just got the thing a couple weeks ago and the something was wrong with the console.
It weighed a ton to get it in the house and it folds up. My husband took it out of the box and did not wait for me to help hold it.
Well the track fell and put a 3 inch hole in the wall. Guess maybe he will listen to me now.
Anyway thought a treadmill and videos will boost my weightloss and give me more energy.
Have a good week everyone.
I have a convention to go to this weekend. Hope the food is not too bad. I sell Creative Memories.

Sharon:
Isn't it funny when ever we go to do something our first thought is I hope the food is O.K. Sometimes I do not want to go anywhere because I do not have control over the food. I have a birthday party this weekend for my niece and I do not want to go, because I usually weigh in on Mondays.
Good luck with the treadmill I enjoy mine. When ever I get in a slump I have to push myself out of it and just keep at it every day and it sounds like that is what you are trying to do .
Have a productive weekend
Diane

I lost a pound today! I'm really jazzed!

You know, I read a really motivational quote from (of all people) Susan Powter. Remember her? The infomercial chick with the platinum blonde crewcut?

She said:

"You have to get up each morning and work the practice of being a fit human being."

It's so true. We've all been on the roller coaster, I'm sure, of gaining/losing/gaining. Or maybe we've started a program only to quit quickly when the pounds don't come off fast enough.

But I really believe that if we picture in our minds what it will be like to be fit and healthy, then it will become much easier to stay on the program. We have to reprogram our way of thinking. If we decide to be fit and healthy, and live every day that way, then there's no question of success. It will happen.

And it's not just visualization. "Working the practice" means that you have to act. You have to make the right choices about what goes in your mouth and how you move your body. Remember, practice makes perfect!

I hope I don't come across as too preachy! I don't mean to be.

Take care, everyone.
Cheers,
Mary

Well guys! It's better. I finally got motivated again. I lost down to 190.4 It's my lowest point. Thanks for the advice guys. You guys are awesome.

In regards to the counselor that can help... well working there makes it difficult. People assume you know what you're doing and kinda just flip through your diary, which makes it hard to get a full daily. All of us have agreed to help each other out and have made a bet between all us that work it really helps.

Does anyone attend a site in NY?? Or heard anything about the NY centers?
