Brrrrrrrr, it's freezing out, and we even have a mention of snow in the forecast for this evening. I'm not ready for this yet!

I had a great day yesterday. Cindy called to say Maggie was going home with a friend after school, so she would just need me to pick her up on the way to get Audrey, so I only had to work from 3pm - 5pm! I got so much done around the house, then went to Bed, Bath & Beyond where I bought new throw pillows for the livingroom, and went a little overboard in the kitchen department. But I got a lot of little things I had been needing, and it was fun.

Caitlyn & Carley are spending a long weekend with us, Monica brought them out last evening, so they'll keep us busy! Caite will have to stay here with Carley though this morning, because I have a lot to do at Cindy's. I may bring Maggie over here for a while this afternoon. It just depends.

So that's my day. How's yours shaping up?

Cottage, sounds like you had a busy and fun day yesterday. I'm a sucker for the kitchen dept (and restaurant supply stores) too...whoever dies with the most kitchen toys wins!!!

I'm trying to rush to get some client stuff done before I need to go get ready for school. Just checked out the menu ( of the place we are going to eat this afternoon (per my son's suggestion). Hmm, seems like most everything is fried and sauced, so I guess I'll stick with some raw oysters and the Blackened Shrimp Remoulade salad.

My daughter called last night and said she was accepted into central casting to do "extra" work on her days off of her "day job" (which is really at night). She always liked to play "dress up" and can now get paid for it (and free food too!). There are 17 movies being filmed in N.O. right now and one here in town where we live. I told her to come home and work instead of LA...fat chance.

Good morning.

Cottage, you can never have too many kitchen toys, IMHO. Cat, I glanced at the menu for lunch and am salivating. Be strong!

I'm outta here shortly to get my snow tires installed! In this part of Ontario, there's no such thing as "all season" tires and I do a lot of back road driving.

First a coffee with a bit of LC hot chocolate in it - my winter treat!

I hate it when DW is sooo frikkin' loud in the morning when she gets ready for work! I don't have to get up for an hour after she leaves, 2 after she gets up. And today was one of those days that she was sooooooo loud that it didn't matter. Grrrr!

She did the dishes though so...I shouldn't complain too much!

I got all my Christmas shopping done yesterday! Well, I just have to get DW a few small things to open on xmas morning. We bought a couch a few months ago so we resigned ourselves to budgets for our family, friends and one another. I got a great deal in email for a points email thing I belong to (12 points per dollar spent and those points get cashed in for gift cards -- and FREE shipping!). So, I stuck to the budget and got it ALL done!

Anyway, that was my night/morning.

Cottage -- I agree with Ruth! There is nthing better than kitchen fun! I did the same thing with spatulas on sale at Crate and Barrel 2 weeks ago!

femme -- great planning!!! Great news about your daughter too!

Ruth -- Yikes! I don't know how I'd do it having to get snow tires!!! Do they come with chains?

11-09-2007, 08:39 AM
tomandkara -- I work for one organization and lobby for them. I work on Health and Human Services issues, Income Stability for all, and some tax issues. Not the most glamorous of issues, but important ones. I used to work for a GLBT organization and lobbied for equal rights. I get a lot further with Congress now than I did then!

dh worked all night and now he's being fantastic and taking me to work! This way I can have my scooter and not be trapped on the heck planet aka work.
Jenn that's great that you and DW can stick to a budget I wish we could!! I thought of being a lobbyist, But I can only the diplomatic for so long in the face of Arsitude and then I get pissy!
Ruth We could get you a big heat gun for the front of your car this way No Ice/schmutz would cross your path!
Cat Not even going to look at the menu it's too early for food porn!!! your choices sound great tho!
Cottage :) BB&B! *insert Homer Drool Here* I'm so glad your girls are going to be with you this weekend! I miss my Gramma!!

Not sure if it would work or not, but instead of heavy cream, how about combining some 1% or skim milk with some recotta cheese (mix it up in a blender before adding it to for a similar consistancy to heavy cream) and instead of the butter, you could maybe go with a combo of olive oil and some sort of lowfat margarine? Parm cheese is ok, so that could stay the same.

Morning chicks, I am early for a change today... the sun is shinnig but it is chilly... brrr..... Ruth- snow tires, I really don't want to think about it. Cottage- the S word. Please don't use swear words.. lol. You sound like you have another busy day. Femme- that is so neat that your dd is going to be in movies.... have a great day. Eat well. Jenne- Nothing worse than a noisy partner. My DH does that as well. I understand the grrs. Have a great day. KO- Have a great day.
ME- I will be MIA for the long week end as we are going to paint the floors in my livining room and dinning room, so that means that my computer will be unhooked til monday sometime. So I will see yas all then. Have a great long week end.

11-09-2007, 09:31 AM
Morning chicks, they are talking snow here too!:brr: Whatever, it's Friday, bring it on! No time for personals, gotta walk the kids to school, but I'll be back later. Kier, when I substitute for cream, I usually use evaporated skim milk. It has a creamy texture and tastes kind of rich. I learned that when I lived in Maine, it's how I was taught to make chowdah, and added benefit (for soups) is that it won't curdle if you boil it.
Okay, gonna go put on my parka. See ya chicks.

I have mosquito guts on my hand because I just squished a bugger that was trying to eat my head. Yes, they're *that* big here! (Not really, I'm just in a grumpy mood and I hate mosquitoes.)

I want to munch munch munch but my brain luckily is winning right now. I think I'll just go to bed so there's no more temptation.

See you all tomorrow!

Holy Crud it's a 2,3 or 4 coffee day! Let me just tell you about my morning! I sat straight up in bed at 3am this morning and realized something smelled "hot". I got out of bed make a quick run through the house, found nothing. Woke DH up and said "what is that smell?" He gets up, starts checking things and my DD walks out of her room "what is that smell?". Well after checking the house inside and out we still don't find anything. For peace of mind we called the fire department and requested they come "minus sirens and lights" and take a peek. They smell it to (well duh how could you not?), they go through the entire house with there thermal device checking wall, attic and floor for any hot spots. Nothing. After 45 mins they leave saying the good news is we have never been back out on a call like this.

Well I send DH & DD back to bed, but there is no way I am going back to sleep. It will be a year ago thanksgiving that the house next to use caught fire and it was so bad they had to spray our house as a precaution. Well I am sitting on the couch and the smell gets stronger! I notice the furnace sounds funny. So once again I wake DH, sure enough there was a huge black spot on the side of the furnace and it was HOT!!!!!

I am thankful this happened when we were home, there is no doubt in my mind had it been during the day the furnace would have caught fire! So today I say my thankful prayers, someone was watching out for us!

I don't know what the damage is going to be on getting the furnace fixed/replaced, but I am trying to focus on the good in this.

I hope you all have a great day. Sorry no personals today, I have taken enough space and time! Love all you girls!

Morning everyone! I think Barbs scale fairie came to see me this morning as I am back in onderland :carrot:

Cottage SNOW! I want some - it never snows in Fl. Enjoy your weekend with the girls

Cat Ruth Ko Schmoodle  Hi! Have a great day!

Jenne your done with your shopping already thats great, I still haven't started mine.

LC good luck on the painting hope it turns out perfect.

Kara you gotta fight the munchies and yes sometimes it is better to just go to bed. Good night!

Pacer you do have a guardian angel - I am so glad yall are okay

As for me tonight is Family Night Friday and the resturant of choice (which was choosen by my grandmother) is Copelands. Be nack in a bit as I have to make my rounds through the site.

11-09-2007, 10:28 AM
Wow, Stephanie, that is so scary! Glad you are a light sleeper and you guys are alright. That is one of my biggest fears.
GonnaBe, congrats on onderland! I hope to join you soon. Please send that fairy this way when you're done with her. I had a feeling somebody has been holding her hostage lately, since I haven't seen her in quite a while! We have Family Night on Fridays too, but we usually gather at my Mom's for pizza. Glad we don't have to go out to eat!

We had a nice walk to school this morning IN THE SNOW. It has stopped now, but it was snowing pretty hard for about 10 minutes and we may get flurries throughout the day, they say. It's pretty and I don't think it'll amount to anything on the roads, but I'm glad I'm not driving today, as people tend to freak out when they see the first snow.

Well, I'd better get busy - today is the day I try to get to all the things I didn't get to during the week, so I don't have to spend the weekend doing them!

First thing on the list - call college DD and yell at her for the big cell phone bill I just got. Looks like she's made some friends there!

11-09-2007, 11:05 AM
Schmoodle where do you live? Walk to school in snow how great that would be just once. Stay warm!!

11-09-2007, 11:08 AM
Good morning everyone. It's supossed to be in the mid-60's here today which is pretty chilly for this time of year. I'm sure it's obvious that I have never had to purchase snow tires. It's looking like a 3 cups of coffee day for me too. Have a great day everyone.

11-09-2007, 12:00 PM
Well girls here the latest. New furnace. Again despite the cost I continue to count my blessings. One despite the time of year we got someone out right away. Two the new furnace will be installed tomorrow morning. Three turns out the furnace was putting out carbon monoxide. We are indeed lucky! So today I will go out and buy a carbon monoxide dectector and urge you all to do the same.

My body is tired and I am shivering despite being at work with my space heater going, but know it is from a lack of sleep. But hey I and my family are safe and that is what is the most important.

11-09-2007, 12:04 PM
Pacer your right money means nothing if it will keep you and your family safe. Be sure to get some rest as soon as you can.

11-09-2007, 01:03 PM
Hey ladies, just a quick drop in. It's cold here this morning and I'm hoping that it will warm up before too least get to 50.

Spent about an hour catching up on posts to see how ya'll were doing. Sounds like you are all busy and doing good things. You all motivate me.

I'm hungry right now and thought if I came here I would keep my wits about me. Well, I'm not even hungry, just munchy.....must be hormonal.

I have to work on Thanksgiving day and I'm a little bit glad about that, I won't be tempted with hospital cafeteria food! Just hoping to make it through the holidays and lose at the same time.

Hugs to all!

Hello - and I wish it were cold here in Daytona Beach! It was in the 40's last night and it was WONDERFUL! Just wanted to stop in and say hey!

11-09-2007, 03:30 PM
Roundtable was fun last night. My den leader gave a really great talk on how to run a successful den meeting with ADHD/ADD kids. She has one and there are several others in the den. She has a lot more patience than I do.

The pool now has the tile and electrical done. I think the decking will be done next week. It is really looking nice.

DH kept arguing with me about where we should have people put the popcorn when we deliver it to the house tonight. It is 74 cases of popcorn plus 16 items so it is a lot. He just didn't want to get the library cleared of the camping stuff. He called a bit ago and it looks like he has finally agreed with me, reluctantly. He is so stubborn!

11-09-2007, 08:13 PM
Quick check in before I run (literally!) to the gym.

Not grumpy any more. Sticking to my guns last night gave me another pound loss this morning! I'm guessing the bulk of the loss was water weight, as I'm coming off my period, but I'll take it. Now the trick is to at least maintain this for the rest of the month. I've NEVER reached a goal and then stayed there or continued to lose, so this is where the real work begins for me.

I'll be back later!!!

11-09-2007, 08:28 PM
Anybody got any good drugs? :tired: It's been that kind of day again, having to deal with X-DAH. I've been pretty good though. Down to 122. It's just exhausting. He's getting ridiculous because he can't wait 3 more months to legitimally file.

Good news is I hired someone else for my store. He'll have the ladies flooding the place. Looks like Freddie Prinze Jr kind of. Sounds just like him. Seems like a good guy though. Hopefully he'll be an asset to me.

Had an interview yesterday and the Regional I interviewed with was so impressed that I had a 2nd interview with someone else right after. They all but offered me the job but I'm not going to take it because it's mostly commission and I can't afford that kind of risk. I'm good at sales, but their base pay is less than half of what I make now. I can't afford to go train for 2 weeks even. Yeesh.

Back to the ol' drawing board. Going to call a recruiter that a friend of mine recommended next Tuesday. Maybe he can find me something.

Well, better finish up and get ready to get out of here. Going to hit the karaoke hard tonight and have a "pizza" when I get home (not real pizza. Diet pizza.) Hope you girls are all well. Hugs and such.
