Good morning , afternoon or whatever it is where you live.

Hi Jill - welcome to the fold. I live in Canada and have never been to Michigan (western Canada) Hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us do. I am one of the ones having trouble getting motivated and mostly getting started. I guess next week, I will go join ww.

Joanne - you are absolutely right. I wish I DIDN'T see it so well
At least housework does have SOME merit - it is a form of exercise, and it is cheaper than going to a spa:lol:

Mima - 80 degrees above zero eh? Well, it is about 9 above zero here and is going to get colder for the next few days. Do you hear ME complaining? NO!!! We have had a phenominal winter, hardly any cold weather and no snow to speak of for over 1 1/2 months. Of course, what we did get, is still laying around, and we got a dusting of snow the other day. The little ones love it, as it is so nice outside they can play, and they use the hills behind this place to sled. I am glad that you and your grand daughter are having a good reunion. MIMA!!!! listen to the one who can't get with it, but get back on that program, as it sneaks on so steadily, that before you know it, you are back in the same old bad habits. It seems they are still the easiest to live with.

Meme - keep on running girl! I am so happy for you - having lost those pounds - good work - you keep that up, because you will be looking great in just a little while. My daughter has lost 70 pounds on ww and she looks so nice, but she is still not happy. She says she still sees a fat person when she looks in the mirror! Dieting is ok, as long as you don't let it take over your life, because life is about living, I think; and a big part of life is about socializing and that means food. I think we all have to learn how to control it, but still enjoy it. Maybe ww is the way to go. I certainly will give it a try. I have had success with ww before, many years ago, but the last time I went, nothing moved; but this is a whole different program, so who knows.

Ally - come on ww with me. We can do this, and I think some of the stress will leave as well. Eating a bunch of sugar and carbs won't help the FM, that is for sure. Chew on beef jerky or something that takes a very long time to eat. I hope things are settling down for you now. You poor girl, what you need is a great big hug, so here it is (((((((((( )))))))))))) I have NO idea if that is how you make a hug or not, but that is what it is meant to be:lol:

Well, I have now completed 2 weeks of aqua areobics and it feels great to be back in the pool. I made it to the fourth time, which is one more than I could do before. After 3 times, my back would be so sore, and locked up, it just wasn't worth it. I bought my pass yesterday and it is good until the end of March (10 punches) so it should be fine. They have the aerobics and the deep water exercises going at the same time, and you can go to whichever you wish. I think I might give the deep water exercises a try next week, to check them out.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Happy- I wish they had a place close by me so I could take water exercise. I don't have a pool and the ones I know of at friends are so cold I don't want to go in them. If I hit the lotto I'll get my own ,with heated water. Thr spa's are very expensive here. I think you will like WW. There are no limited foods. It is really mainly portion control.
Meme .so far today I have some banked points. Now all I need to do is last till bedtime.
See you all in the A.M. ...Joanne

I am so new to this I am still lost. I joined TOPS last week and went to my second meeting last night and had gained 1/4 pound. I was a little disapointed. I am starting to write down everything I eat...What a job...I didn't realize until now what a pain it is... It makes me realize just what went into my mouth today.. too much..

have a great day...

Hi Linda, glad to see you made it to the board. The weekend can be really quiet, but usually someone stops in. Keeping a food diary is a wonderful way to keep track - we usually don't think we are eating as much as we are. I will have to go that route as well. I think I will be joining ww next week. My daughter has lost 70 pounds on it and the ladies on this thread have done very well with it. Meme just started on ww about a month ago or so.

Hi Jill. Come join us again, please.

good morning!!!I am fine with eating all day long and then I eat at Mike's at night. He spent 38$ on lobster last night. It's not my favorite food but it was good. Anyhow, I started walking again even though I hurt. And I hope to swim today-I am at Mike's all the time so I haven't had a chance to go in the pool. Alison has a baseball game this morning-she hits the ball and someone pushes her around the bases. Plus she has a position to catch between first and second. Anything to keep her part of the mainstream. Every night she reminds me to take my Beano. My car should be here soon. Mike's letting me take his car tonight so I can go to church. They have a big van too because they have to pack 2 wheelchairs-they have a 5 year old who got slammed against the wall when he was 1 and now cannot see, walk, or talk. But he sure can smile. And he loves music. The person that did it only spent a year in jail-the mother's boyfriend. Mike and Jill are medical foster parents so you never know who they will be taking care of.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Do something good for yourself Ally after the week you had. Hi to everyone else and welcome Linda. Mima

Howdy Jill and Linda. Hope to get to know you.
I HOPE bad things don't come in threes...... no maybe I do. I have had at three three crappy weeks. I should be at the end of all that for a few minutes.
Old Boyfriend called out of the blue. Am going to his house for dinner. That kept me out of the fridge and cupboards today. Too bad I can't lose 20 pounds in a day.
Happy............thank you for the hug. This was a killer week.

Ally-Is old boyfriend the one you were dating recently? Hope you had a good time. Ok guys-I am NOT eating at Mike's unless I bring a WW dinner. WEnt out to an Italian place and had chicken and pasta-It's not just the calories-I'm allergic and I ache constantly. Fibro is definitely hooked up to the food I eat. No car yet-we went to the movies last night and saw Gorsam Park-an English mystery-quite good. Hey-did you hear of the link be

The Weekend is almost over. I did fair on my eating but I need to do better.
Happy.. I know what you mean about seeing the dust. I live on a well traveled road and it gets in no matter how much I clean..I also have a good sized yard. I did a little outside yesterday and boy do I know it today. The old arthritis just won't let me get by with anything.Let us know how you like WW.
Meme , what's this about pasta being more points and potato less???I eat my share of both. Although I guess I would do better to cut back on those.
Candice what have you heard? I don't go to the meetings as I should, but try to keep up.
Mima.. Hello.. We had a nice day today. I like it when the weather is in the 70's.
Ally- I hope you are feeling better and things are looking better..

Linda - you are also a grandmother? Where do you live? I live in western Canada and I have one little grand daughter (3 yrs.) I hope you are feeling better today. That pain has a way of imbedding itself doesn't it! Exercise sure does help - if it is the right thing. That MSG and Aspartame connection is interesting. I have an intolerance to both of these products, so I try to stay away from them. Thank goodness I am not a big pop drinker.
MSG hides under so many names it seems impossible to buy a product without it being in it. There are some good websites on this, and I will be back later to post some for you. I think eliminating them would be a good idea just for general health reasons.

Mima - Hello. Still no car, I would be fuming by now if it was me. I couldn't be without my car. 13 days to go, but this one has started, and he will arrive on the 14th day, so really you are now down to 11 days - only 12 more sleeps as my grand daughter would say:lol: How 'cold' is that swimming pool - even with the heater broken? Tomorrow it is going to be -22 or about 12 below zero or so for just a couple of days - by the weekend, we should be back to a balmy 34 degrees:cool:

Joanne - How is it going? You still have NOT told me how your knee is doing - is it still sore or is it getting better?

Meme - How are you? How is Ross doing? Are you still taking your computer course?

Ally - tell us, tell us, tell us! Hope you had a good time.

Candice - Hello. Thanks for the joke, and I believe I am at stage 5. I am posting it here for everyone to see.

Subject: 5 stages of a woman's life

The five stages of a woman's life:
1. To Grow Up
2. To Fill Out
3. To Slim Down
4. To Hold It In
5. To **** With It

Jill, Hello. Come tell us a little bit about yourself. Where do you live?

I made it through two weeks of aqua aerobics and I bought my pass on Thursday, so now I am really committed. I love it though. The water is not overly heated, but once you start moving, you wish it was cooler:lol: Actually, not in as bad a shape as I thought I was. The first couple of days, after I finished, I thought my legs were made of spaghetti, but that has now passed. I always finish in the hot tub, which I love. I have already lost inches if not weight. Just getting moving makes me feel a LOT better.

I saw that article about fibro and aspertame too. I feel the same about fibro and real sugar. Even on the Simpsons last nite they had a show about the evils of sugar...
Men. This is my old boyfriend who I spent 6 years with and he finally cheated on me when I wouldn't marry him. I was so hurt and so upset.... I kicked him out of my life and tried to kick him out of my heart completely but I can't. So, I HAD to go see what was on his mind. After three years, I can see that he has come to some sort of epiphany. I was the only woman he ever wanted to marry. He says that if only we had married we would still be together and happy. And even though we must have listed off five or six couples whose marriages went down the tube and relationships that should be down the tubes, he would not see that Marriage may not have been the best thing for us. BUT...I respect that I can't budge him. The guy who went back to his wife was such a wimp and so easily influenced that I would have been his Boss if we stayed together.
It was nice to know that this guy still thinks I am "the one"...but it is also nice to know that I have learned that I don't need a relationship in my life to be happy.
I can just sit and wait and see what happens next.
And HE has lost weight. We probably weigh the same right now. How embarrassing. But as much as I need to lose 20 lbs, he needs to gain 20. No butt at all.

Happy... Thanks for asking..My leg is a lot better. It really took that injection a long time to be effective. I walk 3+ miles every day and I just was really upset with the thought that I might have to give it up.. for a while. I like your 5 stages of a womens life..
Welcome Linsue.. Tell us about yourself.. Do you belong to a weight group.. With a good healthy outlook on eating? Is it working..
Ally... A renewed interest? Good for you. Keep it on your turf so you are in control. I hope things are settled down with your son. Don't we all wish for 20 more lbs off! I envy men and their weight control. They do not have to work so hard to lose as we do.
Hey Mima.. Hope you got good news about your car,or got your car.

I've been at #5 for about 35 years now!

Linda...Anne explained it quite well about posting...just hit the button at the bottom of the page, type in your message and hit the submit reply button at the bottom. Just wait a few seconds and your message will be posted and you will be taken back to the thread you posted on. Where are you from? I'm in TN. I'm 54 and have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. I've been doing WW since the first of Nov. and I've lost 18 pounds. That's excellent for me...my metabolism is slow and I can't exercise much. My husband didn't actually join WW but he has lost 20 pounds just eating the same foods I am. I joined online...it's easy and you don't have to go to the meetings...which I don't have time for! About the aspartime and MSG...I've read all kinds of stuff on both. I KNOW MSG gives me headaches!!! My best advise would be...if it hurts...don't do it! I think different people react to different things. I have fibro, rheumatoid and osteo arthritis and there are a ton of things that hurt...but sometimes I rebel and do them anyway!

Well gals...I lost the 2 1/2 pounds I gained plus another 1/2 so maybe I've broken the cycle once again. I've got the crud! All stopped up and my throat is sore. I'm supposed to sing at the church my kids go to Sunday night! Pray my throat gets better!!!

Wow Joanne...I can only walk 1 1/2 miles...then my knees start to hurt.

Mima...I'd go bonkers if I didn't have a car!!! Hope you have yours by now.

Ally...Confucius say, "never trust a man with no butt

Hi to everyone else...hope you are all having lovely weather...it is supposed to rain big time here so I'm in pain...as usual!

Good morning!!!!I have my car and my stuff! The carrier had gotten stolen in NY so they had to send for this guy in FL who says he's been travelling 11 days straight. How can you get upset? Next year we are only coming for a month and renting a car. Brad has NO BUTT but I do trust him. 12 more days!!Gonna get a manicure and pedicure today. It's so nice to have my sandals. We went to Mel's diner last night and I had a turkey burger. I guess I have turned the corner about eating bad. Actually badly. I'm going to walk a bit and hope to swim a bit this pm. It has helped the fibro. The pool is probably 72. It's usually about 90. I now have my paints, puzzle and needlework to do.
Hey Ally-I hear a great attitude coming from you. And it's nice to be wanted. I would be leery of that cheating that he did before. Of course, you already know that. Keep up the good work. Joanne, I'm glad your knee is better. I love to walk and it's so easy down here. Meme, try zinc lozenges for 3 days. They knock the wind out of viruses,Coldeeeze is one brand. Anne, when my friend Rita gets here we will have exercises in the pool. I can't do all of them but some. Even the men do it. What a nice group coming down. I was alone last year and they always included me. I know Brad will fit right in-he's a lot of fun. I love to tell him your jokes Meme. And show him.Hi Candice and everyone else, Mima or the Mim

Meme- You walk past the pain.. I found that if I ignored it My body would warm up and the pain went away. Try increasing your time and distance by a few minutes at a time. It worked for me and the results are worth it. You know how flat a runners stomach and butt gets? Well it works for walkers too. What did you find out about points for potatoes and pasta. Are they still 3 ?Occording to measured/weighed amount.I am still going by 123 WW. I sure hope you feel better soon. Drink lots of water. I read a piece today that said we should be drinking up to 12 /8oz.glasses a day.
Memi- Sounds like you are having a good time. Nice you finally got your car. Have you tried the Boca burgers? They are only one (1) point!!!I put a little garlic on then and nuke them or put them on my George Forman. Makes a great sandwich with 40 cal bread and only3 points if you add low cal cheese. Good for lunch.

Hey guys...my brother and sister-in-law are sending me a treadmill. I should lose that 20lbs in no-time.
The other guy I am flirting with (when it rains it pours) sent a huge chocolate chip cookie cake to my work today. I needed that like a hole in the head, but I wanted him to know I appreciate the work he put into it.
It might be a diet technique. I still feel full.

Hi guys-Hey Linda, I hit new thread one time by mistake so don't worry. I got an awesome manicure and pedicure yesterday!!!The feet will last for a long time. And a massage chair. I walked a little, swam a little, did some shipping, and went in the hot tub here. I said I'd help Jill paint today but I have been so sore lately. My shoulders and my back are bad. I thought the weather here would help.I started a needlework-gift for my cousin's daughter-hope I can finish it. 11 more days to Brad. Hey Ally-that was really cute-tjhe chocolate chip cake. You seem to get a lot of attention from men-that's pretty cool. Good luck. Joanne-you are right about working through the pain when you walk. It's so nice to be able to walk down here. And swim even though they haven't fixed the heater yet. Hi Anne and Candice. I was pretty good yesterday eating-some rice and beans for dinner with deliscious chicken and salad. Have a great day everyone. Mima

Linsue- You got it right. Reply. Now tell us something about yourself..
Ally.. Sounds like he is trying to sweeten you up or to you. I love chocolate chip cookies. and they love my hips. I don't dare get near them. Good luck with the treadmil.. I use mine from time to time. I have to really work at keeping my mind busy for the hour I stay on it. I put it right where I can see the T.V. in the front room.Put on my ear phones to my CD player and try to not look at the dials and go. I walk outside most of the time and try to get my hubby to use it.
Happy..Did you join WW?I have been having a problem with cheating lately. Not a good example.
Hey Candice .How are you.. I would have eaten the whole cake..easy.
Hey Meme.. I told my hubby about the two of you being on WW. I thought he would take the hint. He doesn't usually want to eat the same as I. I have been cooking two different meal most nights for a number of years now. Not easy.
Bye for now...Joanne

Ok....I have figured out that the longer I am up the more I eat or want and I guess that is ok cuase your body burns more awake than alseep! I finally got to sleep at 9:30 this morning and slept untill the thermal gas man woke me up!!!!!!!! (The LP tank is right outside our window so no gals I am not having a fling, no such luck!;) That would be about 3 pm. So if I am not awake I am not eating and if I am awke for more tahn a day then I want everything to eat! Right now I am back on track and have 10 points left so hopefully tonight they will get banked unless I can't fall asleep again!

Hi guys-I overate again yesterday because jill's mom brought deli sandwiches for lunch and Mike made a deliscious supper. But i will walk and swim-that helps. I don't feel so achy today. I started doing the cross stitch again-I got the same one on the internet that I had made before-my cousin's daughter is getting married so I am making it for her. It's easier this time. 10 days til Brad-we talk so much on the phone ,it's great. I have a lot of free minutes on my cell phone so we use that. I already need a new battery and it's only 2 months old. I guess Jan is hard to stay on a food plan-stupid me, I didn't even bring my WW books with me. Hi to all-Mima

Well, I did it. I am now a weighwatcher I joined yesterday, so wish me luck. The program looks ok. I think I already eat the right things, just to much, and also, to many desserts. If I give up all the goodies, I should be right on track.

Joanne - got this slip of paper in my book. Don't know if it is different or not, because it says that the books made in 2002 already have this info and mine does. Just in case this is what you were asking about the other day:

Pasta (any type) includes macaroni, noodles, cellphone and egg, and spaghetti, 1 cup cooked or 2 oz uncooked - 4 points

Potatos, white or red, 1 cup - 2 points.

Tomato or mixed vegetable juice, 1/2c - 0 points

Cereals, cooked: Oatmeal 1 cup - 2 points

Salsa, 2 Tbsp - 0 points

Additional note: These updates do not affect the published POINTS values for any Winning Points recipes.

Well that is all I know about it:lol:

Mima - 9 more sleeps Mima, that is not so bad! Keep moving, those pounds have a way of sneaking back on without you even realizing it!

Candice - wake up! No wonder you are hungry. You saved 10 points from yesterday? I found that point system to be interesting. I am a lifetime member of ww so it does have some advantages. I think more than the diet, I need the group and the actual weigh in to keep me motivated. It does say in my little book, that if you don't eat enough, you will, of course, be hungry. I am glad to see that vegetables are still free - so eat a big salad! I don't think that it quite takes the place of cake, but:lol:

Ally - He bought you a chocolate chip cookie cake? He must think you are ok just the way you are! Did you share it with someone? Boy girl, you have men falling all over you! Good for you. Enjoy yourself.

Meme - My hubby will probably be like yours, and the weight will fall off him while it sticks to my bones! I sure hope this works, becauseas they say, it is the 'last kick at the kitty'. If it doesn't work, then I will revert to number 5 permanently (of the joke).

Hi Jill and Linsue - come back and join in.

It was -31 with the windchill yesterday (30 below zero) Nice fresh day. Exposed skin freezes in less that 3 minutes! Today it is supposed to warm up to 32 above zero. . The day after tomorrow, if is back to the frigid temps. Heading for 30 below without any wind( so if winds comes along, I will stay in the house)Talk about temperature swings. It is hard on the car, because I can't plug it in - it is parked in the parking lot without any electricity outlet - my husband parks his car in the garage. When it is as cold as yesterday, I feel pretty good - not a drop of humidity in the air - just plain cold. Good for the old bones.

Everyone have a great day.

Just finished doing the one mile walking tape. That is quite a workout. Meme, as far as hurting your knees, I don't think so. You only do what is comfortable and she shows all kinds of modifications to do if you have arm or leg problems. Worth a look.

This is a muffin recipe I got at ww yesterday. Thought I would share it with you. Apparently, it has 2 points and 6grs. fiber.

HIGH FIBRE CARROT MUFFINS

1 1/2 c Wholewheat flour
1/2 c Kelloggs All Bran
1/2 c Brown sugar
1 tsp ea Cinnamon; baking soda, baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 c ea raisins and grated carrots
1/4 c prunes (baby food)
1 eggwhite
1 3/4 c skim milk

Mix together flour, cereal, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, soda, salt, raisins and carrots.

add milk, prunes, eggwhite

stir until combined

bake @ 400 for 20 minutes.

That poor woman has been jumping rope on our threads for months now and I can't tell she has lost an ounce!!!

I have the crud. Kaylyn went to the Dr. Fri. with croup...guess she just had to share with her Meme!!!

I typed a big long post a couple of nights ago in reply to a bunch of stuff you all wrote and just as I went to post it my 'puter locked up so I lost it all. I haven't felt like retyping it! I've been in bed for 2 days now.

I do remember one question I asked someone :?: can't remember who, though...what is boca?? burgers? I'm going to try the muffins when I get to feeling better...have a Dr. app. tomorrow but they'll probably just tell me to stay in bed until I feel better!

All the schools are closed here because of flooding. But thank goodness my DIL has all the kids at her house...I just couldn't take a kid today! The flooding is so bad that 2 city workers actually got swept away in a culvert and died yesterday

About walking through the pain...I can't do that. It's not so much that it hurts while I'm walking but if I walk too much my knees swell up and won't bend the next day. I have had surgery on both and the Drs. say there is absolutely NO cartilage in either of them. They go out of place and they also bend backwards (if that makes any sense!). So it isn't a matter of walking through the pain...it is the strain on them I guess. They just can't take it. There are so many things I can't do I'm afraid to try those tapes. I can't even get up out of the floor by myself...if there is something I need to get in the floor for, like cleaning out a cupboard or something, I wait until hubby is home and he picks me up!

I am almost back in my size 14 pants...I can't wait...I have a whole bunch of dress slacks and about 6 pair of those Forenza jeans in all different colors. Only about 5 or 6 more pounds should do it! (Of course, at the rate I'm going that could still take a couple of months! :o

Hi Guys. I know it "sounds" like I have men falling all over me, but in reality it is just a lot of flirtations, and then....nothing. That guy baked that cookie himself, Happy....and I got a look at the pan it came in. He says he always bakes this big cookie when he has to donate some kind of food item. Well, the pan was immaculate. Mine look like they should have been thrown out years ago. That's the kind of guy he is....immaculate. I need a bad boy.
Mima...sounds like you got a sweetheart.
Candice....it is right in the middle of SAD season. I really have cravings right now too. I really didn't need that cookie either...it was thick with big plops of chocolate and vanilla frosting. Kinda made my teeth ache.
Joanne....I think I will use the treadmill a lot. I walk in my house every morning. I have worn a path in the rug. I walk into and around both kids rooms, back to my own telling my kids to get out of bed. I have to walk in the morning or I am too stiff....
Meme...confucious is probably right....BUTT it used to be bigger. And mine used to be smaller:lol:

Happy- I'll give you a hint...I got me a food scale and used my measuring cups and still do ,when I am being good. I did not measure the free veggies ,but ate and still do all I wanted. I am not a good guesser of amounts of foods. Thanks for the info on pasta and potatoes. Pasta has gone up a point and potato has gone down a point. I like both but I guess I will limit my pasta. I feel that I have been eating too much of it anyhow. At least more often than I should.
Meme.. I sure hope you feel better soon. My nephew has it too. I think it must be going around. I hope I don't get it. It was me that told you all about Boca Burgers. I buy them at Sams. You can get them at the reg. gro. stores too. They are all veggie, soy, and only 1 point. I love them. They make a good sandwich. We eat hardly any beef and you can season them and they taste much like a burger.
Ally ..the fun is in the flirting.. When it gets serious sometimes the fun runs out the door. I say make them chase.
Memi.. I ate all wrong today too. My son brought supper from Carraba's. Sooo sinful and I don't want to even think of the points it cost me.I'll start again tomorrow. I made him take the leftovers home. I would have ate them all.
Candice -do you work at night? Is that why you are up at night?Or can't you just not sleep?

Thanks Joanne. Like you, I am terrible at measuring, so will have to resort to my scale and measuring cups.

Go look at this - it is so cute.

Joanne...Hubby needs his sleep cause he works outside the home...duh...and he has sleep apnea and uses the c-path machine to sleep at night and it bothers me and we don't have another bed right now so I stay down in my chair untill I think I can fall asleep(so I won't wake him). Sometimes I fall asleep in my recliner but that is hard on my neck and I get more sleep in my own bed! He used to tell people that he had not had a goodnites sleep since he got married and blamed it on me, so I just let him sleep! I don't like it that way, but what else am I gonna do...he is a bear without sleep too! I want my own room like Meme!

Happy..welcome to WW again!LOL

My arm is hurting bad again..wonder why????????????

Hello-9 more days-thank God for phones. Candice-what about soft foam ear plugs. I have an air purifier at home so I use them and now I am used to them . It also cuts down on hearing snoring. Happy-Congrats on WW. When I rejoined, I also found out that I ate right but too much. I was good yesterday but probably ate too much but I walked and swam which I will do today, It's going to be 80 again. I'm also going to start using weights. Alison's other grandma said her shoulders hurt less when her muscles are strong. I used Alison's 3 lb weights yesterday and I can tell. My rib thing is gone so I will do it but get lower weights for now. Al uses them to increase her strength to push her wheelchair. She has great muscles. I'm going to get my haircut this am-I use the curling iron and it just gets straight again as soon as I go outside and in the pool so I will get it shorter.Going out to eat again for Al's other grandma's bd. I'd better walk a lot. Meme-feel better-get some zinc!!!!with C. Coldeeze-it works. Hi to all. Mima Have a good weekend Ally-and Joanne.

Cancice- I admit that the men who work need their sleep but so do you. No wonder you are in so much pain all the time.
Mima- I hear you counting the days. I am trying to get on the right tract with my eating. I got so flustered dealing with insurance that I really overdid it yesterday.
Hello Happy. I sent that little ditty to my daughter and sister.
I hope you are better Meme...Hello Ally.

Jonane.that is what my doc says too...but you can't
tell DH that..he acts like I can come up but then if he doesn't sleep he blames me for it! When My kids were little and kept me up all night with there ear infections he would lock me out of the beedroom and put a towel under the door so no light would come in. I'm glad I never had to work outside the home but when I did try he just made fun of me( not earing enough money) and so it was not worth the health problems it caused me! You didn't know you were opening a can of wroms did you?????????;)

I made choc chip cookies tonight...I ahd a recipe that called for applesauce instead of a lot of butter. 2pts per cookie and they are ok.teh cookies turn out soft of course but are very tasty. I had to use parchment paper so they didn't spread out and stick. I still like my old fashion ones for 3 pts!

That's more like a barrel of worms if you ask me!!!
Hey...Candice...come live with me!!! My room is big enough for both of us and I have two computers!!! I'll bring one of the desks in the basement up for you and put it where my keyboard is and you can have your own desk and everything! Only one drawback...you'll have to share the bathroom with Sammy! It didn't take much convincing for my husband to move to another room! He goes to bed at 10:30 and gets up at 5:30...I go to bed at 5:30 and get up at 10:30! He never did complain though. Even if I sat up until 2 a.m. with the lamp on and read...he still didn't complain...he can sleep through an earthquake. He just didn't like having to be quite in the morning and try to find his socks in the dark!!! Now we watch TV together until the news goes off and then we go our separate ways...on different ends of the house! (Except for a couple of times a month...heehee)!

If you have a spare room you should at least get you a daybed and put in it...you could even find a used one and just get a new mattress. That way you could at least lay down! I have a futon with a bunk on top, sleeps 3, in the play room (we took our small bedroom and made it into a play room after the rugrats started arriving) There's a queen size bed in hubby's room and a king size water bed in mine! We also have 3 couches...lots of places to lay down!!! You need to assert yourself and declare your needs...tell your hubby to get you a bed or you'll start sleeping with him again! :p That should work!

As far as the working situation goes...I HAVE to work...I have to have my own money...even if it's just enough for lunch out and a book I want to read...plus...I have to have something to do...just for myself! I don't make a lot...my daughter pays me pretty good for babysitting, then I get $10 a lesson from piano students. I do some mystery shopping and get everything from free meals at restaurants to $20 for a 10 minute bank job and now I'm selling Avon which pays from 20 to 40 percent, depending how much you sell. I buy all my own clothes and other little things I want. Hubby says I'm too independent...he may be right but having my own spending money makes me feel better about myself! I've done a little bit of everything: taught school (substituting), babysitting, made clothes for people, painted sweat suits and even made ceramics. I once thought I wanted to start a Day Care so I took in 12 kids for the summer...by July I had already changed my mind! But, ultimately, it is my life and I have to do what works best for me as long as it isn't hurting anyone else. I think that is the key to having a life!

Hi guys-I finally called the doc yesterday-I think I've had a urinary tract infection for the last week and a half. Such a nice office-they called in Cipro-yes, I won't get anthrax either-long distance and my insurance was accepted. I have been achy and have a lot of pressure to go pee but I wasn't sick. So i will be on the mend soon.I've been lifting 3 lb weights and my shoulders feel so much better. I'm going to buy some to walk with. Should be great for the osteoporosis. Candice, my best friend has sleep apnea and she bought a special bed but she also slept in a separate room from her husband. That's a very difficult situation-sleep is so important for us. I hope you can work it out. Went out to eat last night-I had salmon-staying home tonight. Meme-are you feling better. I,m 63 and I like to work-I am going to do the book keeping for Brad's business. I love to work with numbers. And I'm going to earn my last 2 quarters to collect social security since I won't be doing the teacher testing as much-at least for now. I'm only going to do 2 days in May just to see everyone but I will be very busy moving and decorating. After being away these last 2 weeks, I know I won't go that far away for a while. I think I'll get my car washed today.Maybe go to the mall for the weights. Bye for now. Mima

Candice- Maybe this can of worms should be opened and dumped out and stepped on!!!You do not have to put up with abuse. Perhaps you should throw him out of the bedroom with his machine. I would have thrown him out of the house long ago. Where are your kids? Are they grown? At sometime in their lives they should take care of mom. It doesn't matter if you make a little or a lot of money at any job you do. It is how it makes you feel about yourself. Ignore him. It is not worth the upset. Go out and buy yourself a bed and charge it to him. If he complains let him know how many doors are in your house. I have done that myself a few times. Cut off his goodies. !!That should get the message to him.My hubby is of the old school and greek. He thinks I have to be in that bed every night with him.. So he knows he has to give to recieve. I read also and if the light bothers him I put the cover over his face. He snores like a train and I turn him over. I have two bedrooms and a pull out couch. He can use either one if he chooses. In 48 years he has stayed put. I'll get off the soap box..Now all I have to do is convince my hubby to share the car. He thinks that he has to be behind the wheel everytime the car leaves the driveway. But the traffic is so bad down here I have stopped fighting it. I guess we all have something to put up with.
Mima.. Drink plenty water, but, you know that. Stay out of hot tubs and saunas. I got the worst infection from those one time. Hey Happy,Ally... Joanne:) :)

Wow!!! That is a BIG can of worms. Hubby and I only have a double bed and manage to sleep just fine in it everynight. I don't have a problem sleeping, USUALLY. Some nights I can't sleep, so I get up, go to the living room, put a blanket over me and read until I get sleepy, then I go back to bed. He snores also, so if I wake up and hear him, I have to push him on to his side - pretty easy, really. I do know, I HATE sleeping without him. He is so nice and warm:lol:

Meme, like you I want to have my own money. I am feeling so much better these past weeks (as good as I have felt for years) that I am thinking of getting myself a part-time job in February. I have also started taking a new product called RECOVERY. It rebuilds tissue etc., at the cellular level. Only one of it's kind and you can only buy it in a few states in the USA. It is made in Canada, and I have been taking it for 1 week and coupled with the Spectra 12 and the Upper Cervical, I feel like I am getting more and more of my life back each day. I still have pain, but mostly it is minimal. I will never NOT have pain, so I do the best with what I have. You are right MEme, and I am the same - just a very independent person. I look after all the money and my hubby doesn't care what I spend, but that is really not the issue at all. I also enjoy the social aspect of work.

Mima - hope the infection goes away soon. Just stick to walking for a few days. Oh, young love, it brings back such nice memories, doesn't it? I am so happy for you Mima - life is about being happy isn't it? Doing what fulfills us and makes us happy. At least I am pretty sure it is. That is how I prefer to live mine anyway.

Joanne - Hello. I am doing ok on this diet. Starting day 3 today. Pretty easy. I made those muffins and they looked so soupy when I mixed them up, but they baked up beautifully and are really, really good. My daughter sent me a bunch of recipes the other day, and there is one that is made with tortilla shells (6" ones) and you put chocolate in them. If anyone wants that recipe I will put it in here for you. Both my daughter and her best friend have been going to ww for 1 1/2 yrs. and they have both lost about 75 pounds. They are soon finished with the diet part and get on to maintenance. I think that is so good, and I have lots of help with questions.

Ally - how are you doing, you man magnet? You should try this ww as well. It has been years since I was on ww, and the last time the diet just wouldn't work, but this time, you can eat whatever you like, so it is pretty easy to stick on. You could even sneak in a cookie or so a day.

Hi Linsue and Jill. Where have you gone to?

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Happy- I am so glad you are finding that WW is easy. I don't like to call it a diet though. I try to look at it as a eating plan for life. Because that is what it is for me. If I so much as eat out and don't watch very closely I can gain a few lbs.Good luck and be sure and let us know each week how you are doing.
Any good things you find out ,please, pass them on...Joanne

I like sleeping alone. It takes me months and months to get used to having someone in my bed. I lay awake most of the night listening to breathing and night sounds.
So, I guess it is good I am still alone and flirting. That might do for now.
It is 45 degrees in NY today. Will be warmer tomorrow. This has not been a painful winter for me. Am I wrong or is that true for some of you. Last winter we did a lot of whining about pain. This year we sound healthier.:smug:

Ally, it is 30 below zero here and really cold, and I don't ache at all because there is absolutely NO humidity. I don't like spring because it always gets me in pain. We shall see what this spring will bring, as I am feeling much healthier. Hopefully much less pain will be involved in my future.

I do hope to get to know all of you. I work as a cake decorator 4 days a week for Safeway Stores. You know, I really don't have much of a problem eating healthy at work, my weak point is at home. I joined TOPS again recently with my sister, Carolyn. We both need to lose at least 50 lbs.
I also enjoy reading, walking when the weather is nicer and I'm not in so much pain...

Did anyone watch Oprah recently? She had a show on weight loss. What did you think about it?
It's snowing here tonight, it sure looks pretty. I didn't get any exercise in the last few days. I pulled a muscle in my shoulder again and have been going to physical therapy every week for it.

Have a great dieting week....Linda

Linda...I know what you mean about walking and pain! My pain usually comes after I walk, though.

Hey...have any of you ever tried a pain patch? My hubby tried them back in the spring of 2001 when he was having a lot of pain in his arm. He said he didn't like them...said they burned. Well...my shoulder and arm got to hurting so bad tonight ... I was watching TV and they were advertising pain patches and I remembered the ones he had tried. I asked him if he still had any of them and he said he thought so. I found them and put one on my arm and it feels better. Still hurts when I try to raise my arm but doesn't hurt hardly at all when it's just resting. It didn't burn my skin but it does smell pretty strong...kind of like those arthritis rubs.

It's kind of funny...what's happening here...my arm has been really hurting a lot the last couple of weeks. It feels like it's going back to the way it was before I started the gold shots. Well...I've been telling hubby about how bad it is and how I can't hardly get the mail from the car window, can't roll the window down anymore with my left arm when I go to the bank, McDonald's after school for Ross' happy meal, at the cleaners, the phone Co. and to pay the electric bill, etc. There are so many many places where you can drive up to the window...like CVS for perscriptions almost every week. Well...I've been bugging him about a new car for a year or two and he keeps saying he doesn't want a car payment again. So, today, just out of the blue, without me saying anything, he called about 4 cars and vans he found in the paper and even went to see one!!! I heard him ask one man if it had power windows and locks and then he said he wasn't interested and hung up!!! Oh, by the way, did I tell you he brought me a dozen long stem roses last weekend? No reason...no BD or Anniversary or anything. Something has happened to him! I think he must've been struck by lightening and had a personality change or something! And that's ok with me...let it storm and the lightening flash...he vacuumed all the carpets and mopped all the tile today so I wouldn't have to...even did a load of wash! I'm beginning to fall in love with him all over again.

Welcome Linsue-We are spread all over the country now!!!I feel better-the med is working-and I do drink the water.6 more sleeps-I think your hubby feels better with his weight loss, Meme.Good going. I get flowers -hope that doesn't change. I walked yesterday=a lot-did the weights and went on the treadmill for 5 minutes-my butt hurts-taking a break today-only swimming. We will have water exercises in Feb. We are feeling better because we are physically more active. I know now my achiness was from the UTI in my system. I had it from before I came down here. I use a cream with capracin in it-probably works like the patch. Gonna put some on my butt-but those are muscles that need work. I had to buy some sunscreen 45 because of the med I'm taking. They are coming to swim today-can't wait to see alison dive down into the pool. She loves to be underwater. What a kid!!!!She can't move her legs but that seems to be the only thing she can't do. Hi Linda...No I did not see Oprah. I tell you, the last few times I got to watch it, I cried thru the whole show. She gets me so emotional. I would have liked to have seen the weight loss one, though. I saw a stomach stapling on TLC last nite....remind me to avoid that procedure. I mean, they use a real stapler and then shove your intestines back in your stomach. Yuck.
Then they showed a camp for kids...but the terrible tragedy is that real obesity is based on genetics. You have to learn to change your whole lifestyle to get control of your eating. Lots of those kids will always be heavy.
I have a picture of a nude chubby woman on the front of my desk now. She is bent over and you can't see her face and she is curled up so you can't see her privates, but you see the outline of a heavy woman and darn it...she looks pretty good.
I'm sorry I mentioned Pain....looks like some of you have it bad. Meme..what is in the pain patch? I have used that Aspercreme before and it did help.
I am waiting for my treadmill to be delivered. A gift from my brother. And exhubby is in my driveway helping my son with his car. He will think I bought this for myself and I don't need any of the pittance he gives me for chiuld support.

Hi Mimi,
Hey what are gold shots. I've never heard of them before. My husband came home from work this afternoon and told me about one of the delivery drivers whos wife has fibromalgia and went to see a doctor in Portland. Her pain is almost gone.. I sure would like to talk to her.
I used the aspercreme once, it seem to help but I made that awful mistake of not using rubber gloves and had to throw away my contacts when I took them out. When I tried to put them in the next morning, wow my eyes burned.. OUCH!
Thank goodness they were disposables.

Meme, sounds like your husband is doing what he should be doing, helping out around the house. I don't know what I would do If mine didn't help..I really appreciate him..We've been married 32 years this June.
Ally, nice to meet you.

We got a couple of inches of snow here. Supposed to snow again tonight. I drove home from work last night at 30mph following a line of cars...People freak out here with any snow.

Everyone have a nice evening... Linda

good morning- as usual i overdid it- i have been lifting those 3 lb weights-not too much but often and pulled a muscle in my upper back=I also was holding the 5 year old in the pool-he weighs 50 lbs=it will go away but now I have to be careful-woke up at 2:30 with the pain but I did put some cream on it-yes, wash your hands good after you use it. But it does help.Alison came over to swim-we were in the pool for 2 and a half hours.she is a fish. I got too much sun so I will stay out of it today-clean and wash clothes. 6 days and 5 sleeps til Brad gets here. There will be a superbowl party next week since the Patriots are playing. I get so excited, That should be fun!!!!!Guess I'll go finish my coffee. Hope you all had a relaxing weekend. Mima

Candice- I surely did not mean to lecture... I get real opinionated when I see or hear abuse. I made up my mind years ago to fight back. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I am sorry if I sounded like I was lecturing. We all deal with things in our own way.
Meme- I have heard of the patches and wondered about them. I use Hot and Icy rub. Ofcourse my best pal the heating pad too. Some people like ice packs. It just makes me hurt more.
Mima- It sounds like you are really having a good time.
Linsue..Gold shots have been around a long time. I never tried them although I knew some who did and really were satisfied with the results.
Hello Happy..
Ally- Opra depresses me too, Some of her shows are great but I often turn her off after a few minutes. I am not much of a T.V. watcher. I turn it on when I am sewing but usually watch news or a movie if I can find a good one.
