I meant to start the November thread before I left this morning. I got about half way up there and remembered! So here it is!
Happy November, everyone! Lets make this the BEST month yet! We can do it!

Oh I love a new month. I'm so hopeing I can do better this month. I'm going to try my best. Tonight I made a taco soup for dinner. It was good but awfully spicey. Next time I'll use 2 cans of mild rotel instead of 1 can orginal and 1 mild. I've just got done ordering Dr. Oz's new book. I watched him on Oprah today. I really do like him. Guess I'll go back to watching CSI. Then its shower time.

Morning! I was all suited up and ready to go to water aerobics, but did not get out the door. I felt bad, and decided I did not want to rush up there. Besides, the Friday instructor is my least favorite. No excuse, I know. I will go for a walk later.
I had to help Justin get Kaeleb unstuck this morning. He kicks his foot against the slats on the crib, and has had his leg go all the way through above his knee. Then he is stuck and you have to soap him up, and pull the slats apart to get him out. He of course is screaming the whole time. Poor thing.
I need to work on stuff for next week's sale today. They just sent an email and asked for a donation for the silent auction. I guess I ought to give them something, it sounded like it was more than a suggestion. I just don't know what to donate!
I will be back later!

Happy Friday!
Nothing new with me. Tomorrow we are going to the race track all day with DH's office. They have a private room this time. I am tyring to be so good. My eating has been great all week. They always have a salad. (note to self, take my own salad dressing). I should be fine. We have to pay for drinks so I will only have 1-2 wines. Exercise has not been great this week. I have just been exhausted and too much to do. Next week should be better. It was 35 this morning and only getting in the low 60's next week. Brrr.......
Toni, I watch Oprah a little last night and saw Dr Oz. I like him also. Let me know how you like his book.
Monet, Poor Kalaeb. That sounds painful. I'm sure you have plenty of beautiful things you can donate. Hope you feel better.
Well, it looks like it is just the 3 of us. I can't get on over the weekends so it will just be the 2 of you. Have a great weekend.

Well, I just heard on CNN that here is another reason to not eat that "white stuff" or anything else that has it in it: WRINKLES! That's right!
A recent study conducted by The British Academy of Dermatologists has shown that white sugar when absorbed in the bloodstream attaches to healthy proteins and then makes bad proteins which causes a breakdown of the collagen and elastin that is in our skin! Appropriately, those bad proteins acronym is A.G.E.S.
I still have youthful skin even though I am 54 years old. I am still mistaken for someone ten years younger. If "sanity" won't get me to stop eating that "white stuff" then "vanity" will!!;)
Thought you'all would like to know this extra bit of info that has come down the pike.:D
I do have the sugarbusters book and I have read it a couple of times. I do know someone who did follow the book closely and did lose a lot of weight. Right now, I am using the frame work of the WW Flex Points just to keep me concentrating on portion control. My background is also with the OA Program which as you know has said for years that all that "white stuff" just isn't good for us!
Although there is a part of me that doesn't want to give up sugar "entirely", I will say that I have been eating "brown" for many years(maybe 8 or 9) and I prefer it. I do have some white sugar but only when it is "almost unavoidable". I have cooked with Splenda and I really do like how the recipes I have used have turned out.
Question: what about high fructose corn syrup? It is in all of my whole wheat breads and sometimes listed as the second or third ingredient. I am getting so frustrated with that. I am at the point of resuming baking my own bread so, again, I know what is in it.
I am also doing some research on both the Sonoma and the French Diet which also follows similar guidelines to Sugarbusters. Any comments or suggestions? :^:
Ellen
11-02-2007, 03:59 PM
Hi Pamatga! My opinion on Sonoma or any other diet is that of course Sugarbusters is the best! Hope you decide on it and join us! Where are you in Atlanta? I am in Duluth/Peachtree Corners. On the high fructose corn syrup, I avoid it as much as I can. I am a diabetic and HFCS makes my blood sugar spike worse than any other sweetner. I get Nature's Own whole wheat bread, and it is made with brown sugar and not HFCS. I get it at Publix, so I am sure you can find it. I don't even bother with the no sugar one. The regular 100% whole wheat is cheaper and doesn't have the HFCS.

Hello all. I'm cleaning and thought I would take a break. I'm also doing wash so things are flying in this house. I'm trying to start on getting our room ready for the contractor Jerry to work on our room. I don't know what to do with our stuff. But guess that will get figured out.
Welcome pamatega.... Sounds like you're on the right track. Hope you keep coming.
Monet- Bet you're busy today in the garage...
Well better get back. Duty calls ... LOL

Evening! Yep, Toni, I spent a lot of time in the garagio today. I also went to Home Depot and got a bit for my dremel this morning. That was fun. Tom and I took Kaeleb for a walk this morning too. My ankle was killing me, but it really felt good to walk again. I need to do it whether the ankle hurts or not.
James is home until Monday morning. He is out looking for new luggage. His has been beaten up so much that it is about falling apart.
I sold a bowl this morning on my etsy shop. I was pretty happy, as sales have been down for me and everyone else too. I thought the early Christmas shoppers would be buying in October, but I did not sell anything! It was very discouraging.
I need to go do some work so I better get off here.

Hello everyone! I got eleven mugs, a sugar bowl and creamer set, a tray with handles, a tray without handles with lilies, and a shallow bowl done today. Everything is drying. I need to get it fired tomorrow, so I can start glazing on Tuesday afternoon. I am hoping :crossed: everything dries quickly and with no catastrophes!
Tomorrow morning I have to take James to the train to the airport early, then I will head to water aerobics. I will check in when I get home.

O.....M.....G I feel fat, puffy and sluggish. Since my shop started up, I have been, not only living the sedentary life of a mother pig, but have been on an all-out frenzy eating junk food and a boat load of crap that has been making me feel awful. I've gained SO much. I've been eating donuts for breakfast and hot pockets for lunch. I've just been busy and grabbing whatever. Then the onslaught of candy before, during and after halloween. I've been havign heart palpitations and have been wicked tired.
But that all ends today.
Yesterday, I turned 21 for the second time (meaning 21x2=42...21 twice) and had cake and pizza as a last hurrah, finished off the candy in the house and today the changes take place.
Shelley leaves for school in 45 mins. At this time, I'm saddling up the dog and walking with her to the bus stop and then going for a walk through town. Then, today I'm going ot the store to stock up on good food for the salon to keep in the fridge there...or making my lunch here and taking it there. Derek got me a new blender for there to make smoothies for lunch and I'm bringing my ice tea maker to make green tea. I'm taking my vitameatavegemins (remember that from Lucy?) and getting myself BACK ON TRACK. Weight isn't the issue at this point...I just don't like feeling like this anymore!! Bleh!! I just don't want to do anything but be a slug and I hate that.
Okay...off to start the coffee pot and get ready for my walk! Junior will love it too. But, see...I can get up, walk the dog for 45 mins or so after Shelley gets off to school, then get back in time to wake up Kyle for school and take my shower to get ready for work while Kyle eats his breakfast.
Okay...gotta run. Will do replies later.

Happy Monday Ladies,
Boy this day sure comes around quickly any more. IWe had fun at the track. Didn't win any money, but had a good time. I spent the day yesterday, cleaning out my closet. I mean all day. Cleaned out drawers and threw tons of stuff in the Goodwill bag. this morning I didn't have anything to wear.
The metal monster has me down 2 lbs this week. Weekend wasn't great, so I will take it. I'm shooting for more next Monday. I can't beleive I went a whole week w/o weighing. I am normally a daily weigher.
Monet, things will pick up on your etsy site soon. I think people are starting to start their shopping. The malls have been packed.
Toni, Does the remodeling start today? Hope you found a place for everything.
Pamatga, Welcome to our board. I am doing the same as you. Following WW on flex plan and incorporating the SB principles as much as possible. I am giving it another week, and then I am going back to strictly SB. I lost 105 at one point and have gained 30 back. So I know it works. Hope you join our board.
Well I see the followers haven't picked up. That is so sad as we had such a great gorup of people here. I'm sure come Jan, they will be back.
Got to go type a letter. Have a great day.

okay...walked this morning for about 20 mins and actually worked up a sweat! Had two scrambled eggs for breakfast and some strawberries and am having an apple now. Have to go to watertown later and will probably have lunch there. Will make it a salad of some sort.
MMM has me in at 170 :fr: Highest I've been in a very long time. I'll look forward for a nosedive in that number.
Half of my birthday cake is heckling me on the counter. I might have to give it to the neighbor. Well, half of it, anyway...my daughter and hubby made it for me and I wouldn't really want to give it away.
Okay, hubby is ready to leave. Talk with you later!

Happy Monday to you all. I didn't do well over the week end so I'm glad its Monday. Its a really beautiful day out. Waiting for Jerry the contractor to come. He had to take his wife to the dentist so is late today. I still have a ton to do inside before he could work in here. I have no idea where our stuff is going to go when he starts.
Monet- You sure did get allot of stuff done. I hope the glazing turns out good. Your stuff would make such wonderful gifts.
Solly- Jerry still has lots to do outside before he can come inside to work. Congrads and a big woopie for losing the 2lbs.
Tech-Glad you're back on track. I sure haven't been doing well. I've got to buckle down to. I feel so much better when I'm eating right.
Well guess I'll run. I'm hungry and need to find food!!

Hello everyone! Sorry I am late getting here today. I took James to the train, then I came home to change for water aerobics. I stopped to check the mugs and stuff and they were still too wet to fire. I stood there, thinking it through and decided I HAD to get a kiln load of glaze stuff going, or I was not going to make it by Friday. So, I scrambled around getting set up and hurriedly glazed everything I could find that needed glazing. I about filled the kiln and got it turned on. Then, because I missed water aerobics, I decided to eat breakfast and then go for a walk. My neighbor called me as I sat down to eat wondering where I had been. She was off today, and went to water aerobics! She said she called but got no answer. That is because I was in the garagio...sigh. Too bad! WA is always more fun when you have someone to go with.
So , the kiln is on high and should fire off in a few hours. I put all the still damp pieces on the lid so the heat will help dry them out. Then I have to fire them, and glaze them, and fire again. I think I can squeeze it all in fast enough to make it by Friday afternoon. Then I have to do inventory, and pack and etc. etc. etc.
I got a 30 minute walk in, and I pushed Kaeleb in the stroller too, so that has to help. :)
I will check in later!
TECH: Glad to have you back!

Okay....just got in from Watertown and ended up with a souvlaki from a greek restaurant. Probably not the BEST idea, but lots of tomatoes and lettuce and marinated chicken and I believe the pita was whole wheat because I saw brown flecks. :dunno: But it was better than the hot pocket I've become accustomed to lately. I also stopped at Michaels and got some pretty yarn to make baby boy things and a hat for myself for walking. Maybe mittens, too, if I have enough.
Monet: I loved walking Kyle in the stroller. He loved it, too. Kaeleb has to be at about the funnest age. Have you tried him with crayons yet? I used to feed Kyle his lunch in his high chair and then when he was finished, I wipe it down, tape a piece of plain paper on it and give him a couple crayons. At first, he's just try and eat them, but then he realized how much fun they were and he'd scribble and work those colors like a pro! Now he does things like Chinese architecture and the Titanic and the Solar System. I'm also looking into etsy to sell my baby crocheted thingies.
Solly: 2 pounds off is better than two pounds on!! :carrot:
Pam: Hi there! Welcome to the SB boards!! I am just 42 and I'm mistaken for much less and really am feeling the need to preserve my youngish looks, as well. I was working at the mall over the winter and couldn't believe the amount of 20-25 year old women are smoking and all I could say is, "Do you have any idea what that is doing to your complextion!!" Fresh air, sunshine (with sunscreen, of course) or at least daylight (which is sparse this time of year), at least moderate exercise and GOOD FOOD is so essential to maintaining a youthful look. Not only just for the skin itself, but for the smiles and well being behind the skin, as well!! Nothing says youthful like a good, genuine smile!!
Toni: New month, fresh slate, new attitude!! Let's keep the attitude going till december!! :D
Okay...off to pick up clutter before its time to get the kidlets. I love Mondays. I really miss pickign up the kids at school. I think I'll make them sit and watch a movie with me today.

Taking a break here.....
Tech, don't you work in the salon on Mondays? Give the rest of the cake to the neighbor, unless you are 100% certain you won't get into it. You will be better off. By the way, a Very Happy Belated Birthday. :balloons: :hat: Hope it was a great one.
Toni, I sure wish we could find a solution for those weekends. We socialize too much and are always thrown into wine and bad food choices.
Monet, Wow, you have a lot to do before Friday. I know you will make it though. Pushing the stroller is extra calories burned and fun too. I still can't get my puppy to walk with me.
Gotta get some energy going here so I can make it to the gym tonight. Going for 3 times this week.

Good morning Toni , Monet & Tech
This is really slow. Made it to the gym last night. it was packed. I guess b/c is had been raining. Ran home fixed dinner, ran to the grocery and made it home in time to watch DWTS. But I was up and down on commercials, making lunch, making tonight's dinner, picking up. Finally at 10:00 I had to go to bed.
Eating is perfect for 2 days. :cheer: Hoping it stays that way.
Toni, My DH is really getting into Dr Oz. He was on Oprah again yesterday and he was telling me all the vitamins he said to take, etc. Tonight we are going to GNC. Let me know what you think of his book.
Monet, what you have going on today. Bet just working int he garagio.
Well, better get doing something here. I have to go to a funeral at 11:00 so I will be eating my sandwich at my desk today. May be back later.

Brr!!!! A cold sharp wind is blowing and the high today is only supposed to be 48. Now I tell ya its cold. The workers are in coveralls and freezeing outside. They're moving our deck today so they can get to the mobile home underpinning. It can't come to soon. Hope they finish it today. I've just had a 1/2 a ww bagel with some whipped cream cheese on it. And I am loving this good hot coffee. Jackson is curled up under the blanket snoring away.
Solly- Great job on eating gal. Don't forget vitams A B C D and E. LOL. Should get my book any day now. I really like Dr. Oz. Wish my DH would pay attention to him.
Monet-Hope you got lots done yesterday.

Morning! I am just coming in under the wire here! I better type fast!
I unloaded the kiln and loaded it back up again this morning. It is already on high and I hope it fires off soon.
Kaeleb and I went for a walk again today. It is cold and windy, but clear and sunny. Nice weather, but we need rain desperately!
The stuff I unloaded was mixed. There were a few nice pieces and a few I thought were not so nice. We shall see!
I will check back later! BOB ought to be back today. She was supposed to get her internet back today.
TONI:  Aren't you glad you can stay inside with a cup of warm coffee?!?! :)
SOLLY: Same old same old! :) I think I will take a break from throwing for a few days. I have to smooth the bottoms of a number of pieces, and write up my inventory. Still have not decided on which piece to donate. What is DWTS? I am TV illiterate!

Monet- Do you know anything about Udon noodles. I know they're a Japanese noodle but what do they taste like? Are they something we could have on SB? I saw a recipe for a soup on the Food Network with them and would like to make it.
Bob- Yippee you're here. So good to hear from you.
Ellen
11-06-2007, 06:28 PM
TONI: Yes, I know about Udon. They taste like fat noodles. :) They are made with white flour and so therefore are not ok for Sugarbusters. I have never seen a whole grain version of them. I know you can get soba noodles made with buckwheat, but not the udon.

Monet: I just always remember pottery class in high school when the teacher would unload the kiln. Such mystery to, A) see how that glaze you chose was going to look on your piece and B) see if anyone had air bubbles in their piece and exploded and killed everything else in the kiln. Enjoy your walks with Kaeleb. I miss them terribly with Kyle.
Toni: Talk about cold! It snowed here all day yesterday. It didn't stick and looked more like freezing rain or sleet, but it was white and falling from the sky, so I called it snow!
Bob: So nice to see you on here, even if its a quickie
Solly: Keep up the good eating habits!
Well, yesterday I had one whole customer! I'm thinking it was because it was REALLY crappy weather here...snow and rain all day and WINDY! I'm hoping the customers that didn't want to come out of the house yesterday come out today! I also went to the Chamber of Commerce meeting last night and handed out some cards and did a bit of networking. We have a monthly newsletter put out by the CofC and I had a great idea about putting in a raffle of sorts involving going to 8 or so businesses, getting a service or product there and then qualifying for the raffle at that business and then at the end of the month, we have a drawing for coupons to those businesses, or vouchers for, say, a free cup of coffee at the coffee shop, a free haircut at my shop, $10 off at the grocery store, a free small pizza at the pizza shop, etc. They all loved the idea! So, maybe it will help to generate some business and keep people from traveling to watertown. As if the $3.25 gallons of gas isn't enough incentive!!
Okay...coffee is ready! Talk to you guys later!!

Good morning! I have had espresso, and unloaded the bisque kiln. I need to start glazing pretty soon, but wanted to stop and say hello. The bisque stuff turned out great. Even the piece that had a crack that I had to repair...we shall see what it does in the glaze though. As Tech said, you never know! hehe! Actually, with practice you can begin to predict. I have a few glazes that I KNOW how they will work, and how they do with other glazes. I am beginning to feel more confidence about the craft fair. I hope it goes well. :crossed:
TECH: :woohoo: I am LOVIN' those cookies! I can put three on mine too, since I walked three days in a row! I will probably go today too, since it looks like Water Aerobics isn't gonna happen with the need to get the glazing going!

Tech- What a great idea about the coupons. I hope it brings people in. You're doing good with the walking.
Solly- Got my book You Staying Young yesterday and are starting to read it.

Good afternoon ladies,
It has been busy, busy here today. Went to the gym last night and only did 30 minutes of upper body weights. After dinner, we took the dog for a 15 minutes walk. Tonight is our off night. I am anxiously awiating the Country Music Award show. I plan to iron while watching.
Monet, DWTS = Dancing With The Stars. I am hooked on it. Hope the kiln turned out ok. That has to be frustrasting when something is damaged and all the work you put into it.
Toni, It is cold here. Just keep that weather there would ya? I wore gloves and earmuffs last night on our walk. I always feel sorry for ocnstruction workers inthe cold weather. I could never do that.
Tech, what a great idea about the coupons. You have so many good ideas to promote your business. I am sure it will just take some time. You need to get some type of write-up in the local paper. That always brings a crowd.
Bob, we miss you too. Sneak in when you can.
Got to go into a meeting. Have a great evening

Actually, I did get a write up in the paper...the lady that does the neighborhood update, who usually writes about her friends and family that she knows and when they've gone to Florida or returned from Florida, but sometimes she doesn't something news-worthy and last week she had a paragraph about my shop. It was really nice...she ended it with..."We all wish her much success!" :D

Just finished up dinner. I had a lean cuisine and some extra broccoli. Then I ate a banana for dessert- the potassium helps my restless leg problems.
The kiln fired off this afternoon and I started working on inventorying the already finished stuff I have. I have tons more to do! I am packing stuff as I write it down, and I have one box full and enough stuff for two more! That is without all the stuff in the garagio I have not even brought up yet. Lots to do! And I can't wait to see this latest kiln load!

No walking the dog today. So mad. Kyle got up at 6:15 to go pee and decided he wasn't tired anymore. Anyone that's woken a bear up out of hybernation will know what it would be like for me to wake up DH to sit with Kyle while I take a walk and will understand why I'm doing WATP this morning instead. DARN. I was on a roll, too. Its these little set-backs that make me just give up all together because if I can't make a routine out of it, I won't do it. I LOVE taking Junior for a walk down by the river....I hate WATP. But, if I can't take the dog for a walk consistently, I will probably not do it anymore and will just accept that I am fat and learn to live with it.
Ellen

Morning!
TECH: You need to move beyond the all or nothing here. One morrning of Kyle waking up early should not ruin your walks forever. Couldn't you tell him you were going for a walk and he needed to quietly read in his room until you got back? And NOT to wake his father up. :) He is smart enough and old enough to spend a bit of time alone, out of trouble, while you take care of yourself. Tomorrow, Junior will be so happy to go walk again...

I just feel like I'm being laughed at by the other hairdressers in town for daring to pursue a dream of mine and, to boot, I have no time to exercise like I want to because I have to sit there, getting secretary spread instead of vericose veins and bunnions from standing too long, hour after hour after hour, knowing I have mounds of laundry to do and a scummy bathtub to clean.
have to go make dinner. Turkey chili tonight. I'm freezing to my inner core. After chili might be a hot bath.

Howdy ho. Things have been busy here. Jerry is working on the kitchen floor. We're getting a new back door too. I took my friend to WAl Mart yesterday to get her medicine. Her car is in the shop. We stopped and had lunch and I finally got up my nerve and asked for the food I wanted instead of falling off the plan. So I had a grilled chicken breast on rye bread with mustard, lettuce and tomato. And a side salad. It was so good and I felt good after eating it. Last night I had a oven roasted chicken breast salad from subway with a ton of veggies on it. So that was my day for eating out.
Tech- Come on gal. Don't get discouraged you can do it. And I'm sure your business will pick up. Its still so new. Your walking has been great and I'm sure your dog loves it. Wish I lived near you. I'd love to walk by the river.
Monet- Guess your busy busy. Don't overdo.
Deer season starts here Sat. our little town just nearly everything shuts down. Even the school will be closed a few days. My DH's job has only a skelton crew. Isn't that silly.
Better run. Happy Day.

Hi Ladies
Just a quickie. It is nuts here. My desk is sky high. No plans for the weekend. May finally go get our glasses. It has been 2months since we got new prescriptions.
Tech, Even though you like routine (as I do), mixing up your exercise is good for your muscles and your will lose wt faster. Your muscles get used to the same thing then they don't release the fat.
Monet, good luck at the craft fair. I think it is this weekend. I know you will do well.
Toni, sounds like the men are moving right along. You did so great on your day out, you should be so proud. Now just to make it through the weekend. The day I had is driving me to drink.
Got to run. Have ag reaet weekend.

HEY HEY HEY!!!
I'm still alive and so are my kids! I must be a decent mother at least - they are still living!!! HA! Well, I haven't been here since October 12th - does that tell you how busy I am these days? CRAZY! I'm back at work - went back on October 29th. I'm tired...that's all I can say..Tired! 2 kids makes such a difference - especially when one of them is QUEEN TERRIBLE 2! OMG! She's driving me to want medication! Anyway...just wanted to say hi and post recent pics of the kids. Wish I could say that I've been eating good but those holiday oreos have been getting the best of me! Well, let me know what y'all think of the kids....
TONI: Are you serious? They shut down the schools for the opening of hunting season? WOW what die hards!!! HA!
Love you ladies!!

HEY EVERY BUDDY!!!
I've rigged up my computer so I can at least surf around. The VERIZON people will be here on Tuesday to hook up the high-speed...I had forgotten how slow dial up is, but at least I'm on here~!
I've missed y'all so much! A person just doesn't realize how much they depend on something until they don't have it for a while! This experience has been TERRIBLE....I sure hope this VERIZON/DIRECT TV is worth what we've been through. Almost 3 weeks without a phone, no internet...but at least we had TV...:dizzy::dizzy:
GOTTA GO FOR NOW....MY GUYS ARE PLAYING ON TV!!!
I'll be back a little later!

Howdy all. Went grocery shopping today. Ugh. Glad its over and put away. Since we only go every two weeks I got most the stuff for Thanksgiving. I'm still not all that sure on my menu. I am going to try and make a sugar free pumpkin pie on a ww crust. It will be my first time making it this year. We got an early Christmas gift today. It was a coupon for a back door porch or small deck to be built by our contractor. It comes from our son his wife and family. I was so excited I cried. We've just had concrete blocks going out the door.
Missy- How wonderful to see you. Your kids are adorable. Please try to come back more. We've all missed you so much.
Bob- Howdy ho!!!!! Not to long now. I just have dial up. I hope someday they get high speed out here in our boonies. I've missed you....
Solly- Hope you get your glasses. I need new ones after the first of the year. But now I've got to get Christmas shopping done.
Well guess I'd better get... Have a good evening.

I know this sounds stupid on my part, but we now know that we've made a mistake in changing out cable provider. As I told you, the Verizon Fios isn't available in our neighborhood and won't be for a while. As replacement until it does, they gave us DIRECT TV and DSL (computer). It has now taken almost a month to get everything hooked up. Today, I went online and paid my Direct TV bill. I wanted to upgrade to the next package and was told it will cost me $99 to change receivers! I DON'T THINK SO!!
I called COMCAST and spoke with a very helpful person. I can't change until next week because of something they do changing the phone back and forth. That's ok though...I don't want the possibility of not having a phone to happen again. SO.......he's going to call me next Saturday and we'll set everything up.
I found SHRIMP CAKES at the store today. Bought them, popped them in the oven for 15 minutes and OH MY GAWD WERE THEY EVER GOOD! Full of WHOLE SHRIMP and I do mean full of. I'll be buying thoses again!
TONI...CONGRATS on that SURPRISE!! It will completely change your back yard. Y'all will love it...
I'm off to watch movies. I'm watching HOME OF THE BRAVE right now and it's really good.

Hi everyone! The craft fair went ok. I did not sell as much as I had hoped to, but I made more than I paid for the space, so at least I did not lose money. I can always list on Etsy all the things that are left!
I am so tired! Tonight, we went to a new restaurant we had not tried before. It was authentic Mexican. Oh, my! The food was fabulous. I got a Cream of Poblano pepper soup, and a grilled chicken salad. Tom got their Mexican style fajitas with refried black beans. I tasted some of his and it was good! Very fresh and tasty! I am going to try and duplicate the soup since I have a TON of Poblanos from my garden!
I am pretty tired, so I will sign off and get some sleep! Night!
FRUIT: Good to see you! The kids are adorable!

Happy Sunday to you all. It rained here this morning and we're just having a lazy day in front of the tv. Wish I had some of Bob's movies. I made egg sandwiches for breakfast. Only ate part of mine tho. This evening we barbecue steaks. Think mine is to big so I'll cut it in half and have part of it tomorrow. Wonder how all the deer hunters are doing. We pasted the processing place on our way to grocery shop and there were lots of hunters there dropping off there deer.
Monet- Wish the fair would have gone better. Anyone would be proud to have one of your pieces. The soup sounds so good. Yum I love poblano peppers.
Bob- Those shrimp cakes sound good. I hope you have a good day watching movies. Thats the pits about your internet. Wow 99. bucks!!!
Well off to finish my lazy day.

It's been awhile since I posted. Life has just taken over. I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for Thanksgiving. I am pretty excited to have the family coming to my house.
As I was googling the GI this weekend I found where some people are now listing corn tortillas and sweet corn as low GI. I was thrown by that... I've always thought corn was completely off limits. Any ideas?
I made some wonderful spelt waffles this weekend the problem is trying to not eat too much! I also made spelt biscuits that turned out great .. very tender .. although my 12 year old is eating more of them than I'm getting to. :)
I love this time of year. Not only for the holidays but the fact that I get to start crafting more. I made my first glass block nightlight this weekend. It turned out really nice I think. I am going to make them for teachers gifts. Very inexpensive.
Well gotta get back to work.

Hi Ladies,
It has been so hard to get on here today. This is the only website I have trouble opening. Strange.
Weekend was nice, just too short. I spend my whole day cleaning and going to the grocery and then the day is over. Picked out our glasses and will get them in a week. I hate that as much as buying a car.
I made the most delicious port roast yesterday. Covered it with spices and rubber OVOO on it and put it in the crock pot. Then I took Apricot simply fruit and mixed it with dried cranberries and reduced it and then put in in the fridge for a few minutes. We spooned it on top of the port. Boy was it delish! And legal.
Toni, what a nice gift. I know you were so happy. You would have thought Thanksgiving was this Thursday by the looks of the grocery yesterday. The malls are packed already too.
Monet, I am sorry you didn't sell what you thought. At least you made more than you paid. But then you didn't count your time. I totally need to avoid Mexican restuarants. Dangerous.
Bob, so glad you got to post. We miss you. I have Direct TV and have not had any problems. I just added a sports package.
Missy, Adorable. I don't see how you do it. But then, I did it back then. Must be an age thing. I bet Lexie isn't as bad as you are saying. Blake is so grown up.
Maables, How nice to be so crafty. Portion sizes are my biggest problem to.
Go to run. I think the scale was down another 2 lbs today. Either that or DH messed them up cleaning the floor.
Have a great day.

Busy day today...but I made it through and I'll go back tomorrow and do it again!
Jackie...Do you have Verizon as well? It's just been such an ordeal with this, and this morning when I called them, they had changed the installation of my internet again and this time to NOV 21!!! I have a friend who's husband works for COMCAST and he's going to push everything up for me and "get R done"
MONET..... How ya doing Girlfriend??
TONI...The movies weren't that good. I'm hoping that what I get this week will be better! For sure I'll have to get these in the mail by Sunday so I can get them back before Turkey Day...I'm off 4 days and I'll want something to watch.
Maables...Get on back here...we miss you...Good to see you though.

Monet- Hope water aerobic's was fun today and you got a good work out.

Hello everyone! I had a blast at water aerobics then pretty much wasted the rest of the day. I took a nap, went to Office Max and then to the grocery store. I sold a vase on Etsy this morning, so I was happy. I wish I would sell MORE, but I will take what I can get!
MAABLES: Good to see you posting! I understand your confusion about corn. When I first found out I was diabetic, and I started checking my blood sugar regularly, I was surprised to find that corn did not bother me as much as wheat did! If I eat a small amount of corn, it seems to be ok. I have a friend who is also diabetic, and he can't tolerate any corn at all! Makes his blood sugar sky rocket! I think it is an individual thing. I find that sweet corn kernals are the worst corn form for me. Popcorn isn't bad, and corn tortillas in moderation are about the same as whole wheat bread. I admire you for planning ahead. I don't know what we are doing for Thanksgiving yet! Guess I ought to think about it , huh? :)
TONI: I did enjoy water aerobics. It is a fun group and the instructor is a really good one.

Hello I am sort of new, I visted here several years ago, but I had to reapply, I forgotten my user name and password, and we have since then changed internets. I was just wondering because the weekly replys are so long, do I need to go back and start from day one to get any helpful ideas, and learn everyone???? or can I start in Nov. and catch on?? Also another question I did read somewhere someone said to make sure you get 3 grams of fat per meal, no more. That is 3 grams of fat per 3 meals and what you eat can only be 3 grams, or is that 3 grams per item on plate??? Thank you ladyfirefighter1
Ellen

:welcome3: Welcome Ladyfirefighter! We are glad to have you join us. You can jump right in here and get to know folks. Also, if you have questions, ask them here. Folks will see it and reply. The group is not so large that you have to go back and read everything to get to know it. On your question, I am not sure where you read that, but I have never heard it before. The rule it brings to my mind is not more than 3 grams of SUGAR per serving. Sugarbusters is a lower fat plan, but there are no rules about it being so strict as three grams. That is VERY low and I would venture to say, nearly impossible to stick to. On the sugar, if you are using anything processed, read the label and if it has more than three grams of sugar per serving, it is not ok. For instance, cereals- Cheerios have one gram and are kind of ok. (they add corn starch in and it can make it more glycemic) The exception would be something like canned tomatoes. Then you need to read the ingredients carefully to see if there is added sugar because there is natural sugars in fruits and vegetables that make it more than 3 grams, but it is still ok. (have I totally confused you yet??) On the fat, choose low fat dairy and lower fat versions of items when you can, but it is not something you need obsess over. The most important thing is getting out the refined sugar, flour and white rice and potatoes and corn. I hope that helps. If you have any questions, please ask them. Folks here are pretty helpful and knowledgeable. I look forward to getting to know you!

Wow its taken me over an hour to get on this web site and be able to post. I've never seen a website so hard to get too. Well I'm fine this morning and rareing to go. LOL... I've got a ton of laundry to do but have to wait till DH is awake before I can start.
Ladyfirefighter- :welcome3::welcome3: to the board. Ask lots of questions. I'm sure you'll love SB its such a good lifestyle plan. Its really easy to follow once you get the idea of it down.
Monet-Oh boy I want to go to water areobics. What a great way to exercise. Yippee on saleing the vase. I keep a watch on your site.

Good afternoon ladies.
Yest Toni I am busy but I had to get an MRI on my neck and back this morning so I was an hour late getting here and getting started. I am working (ha-ha) thru my lunch hour to make it up.
Monet, congrats on selling your vase. I'm sure will pick up for you. So glad you enjoy your water aerobics. Sounds like fun. I am thinking the Bull Dogs may beat us up pretty good Saturday.
Bob, No we don't have DSL or a computer at home. We really don't use it at home and since the kids are out of school and everyone has one at work, it seemed like money wasted. No we are not going to the game. I was trying to get tickerts for my SIL sinc ehe is a big UT fan, but DD said forget it, they were not interested in going (probably she wasn't interested). I think the Vols may kick our butts.
Toni, glad you are feeling better today. Maybe it's the weather, but I ache all over. It is raining hard here, but preety warm. I also have a hard time getting on this website for some reason. But today it was quick.
Lady firefighter. Welcome back. Just jump in right here and get to know everyone. Like Monet said, right now the board is really slow so you will catch on quick. All Monet's advise is perfect. If you have any questions, just ask away.
Well, I'm finished eating my sandwich and fruit, so back to work. Have a great day.

GOOD EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!
The sun sets in about two minutes! Can't believe it's dark at 5:30p.m.!
It's humid today, but not real hot. It's really cloudy out there and looks like a cold winter day. Believe it or not, there are people down here that don't even know what a cold winter day looks like!
JACKIE...Don't get your hopes shot down yet. I'm thinking the opposite...my GUYS haven't done too well this season...y'all have. We've just started playing ball like we should have been playing all year! Your BIL probably would rather stay home where it's warm and he can have a drink if he wants to! A lot of fans do that in the cold weather when it's on TV. Haven't asked my Brother is he and his wife are going. She's a die hard CATS FAN and of course, you already know that he bleeds ORANGE WORSE THAN I DO!!
TONI...I found a book at the grocery the other day that you would really like.
It was at the check out...from A TASTE OF HOME, an all casserole recipe book (not a magazine). OH MY GAWD does it ever have some good recipes in it...look for it when you go next. It was really cheap for all that's in there...under $5
LADYFIREFIGHTER....WELCOME!!! Glad you're here, or should I say BACK AGAIN!! Hang around and join us...we seem to be a little slow and I attribute that to the HOLIDAYS getting ready to start.
MONET...I'm pouting...you've not talked to me at all! My lip is dragging the ground! Where is James these days? Will he be home for TURKEY DAY? Any new pictures of THE MUNCHKIN??? Can't wait to hear how he acts for Christmas this year...better get ready!
OK...I've got to go fix supper...PORK CHOPS that I fixed on the grill. One of the REPS brought us APPLE PIES from one of the Mennonite places today, but I brought mine home for KATE...

Hi there, Bustin Buddies!
My slump is over at the shop. I made over a hundred bucks yesterday and my last customer was a foil highlight, but she wanted the strands to be darker than blonde...a 2-step process that I know well...bring the strands up to blonde, then color them back to a nice light brown or dark blonde with a demiperm color that doesn't lift, just deposits. It came out SO pretty. And a haircut I did earlier told me that she hadn't had her hair cut professionally (she does it herself) in over 10 years because she hates it when she gets it done, well, she had me trim it up for her and fix her bangs and ended up calling me back and telling me that her hair is PERFECT. I was so happy and feel back on track.
Check out my signature. I'm back up to two days walking the dogs. We go down to the main road by the river then cut up by the bass ponds and come back...about a good half hour walk. It is WINDY today, but it supposed to be a bit warmer. Did I mention that it snowed here about a week or so ago?
Bob: I'll be sure to take a picture here on a minus 30 degree day...we know cold winter days!! :fr:
Solly: Your roast sounds reeeeeeally good! I need to make a roast soon. After thanksgiving, I think. How did your MRI go?
Toni: Meatloaf.... One of my favorites. But I can't have it without much gravy and mashed potatoes. I taught Shelley how to do her own laundry this weekend. I figure its time (at 13) to start to learn and be more responsible and accountable for her own stuff. This morning she said, "do you have any clean jeans for me?" and I said, "no, you better to a load of laundry today after school...." ;) I'm liking this already!!
Lady: Monet is the official grand poobah of all things Sugarbusters. She is so knowledgeable with it all. Listen to everything she says (and not everything she does cough-bubbletea-cough ;) ) (although is has been a loooong time since the bubble tea...) and you will be well on your way.
Monet: I have to get an Etsy thing going for my crocheted baby things. I should send you some of the pictures of my things I've done and given away to the Fort Drum babies' families. and I'm so jealous of the water aerobics...its truly the BEST exercise!!
Just noticed the time and I'm so sorry if I left anyone out of my replies. I have to get in the shower. I actually have an appointment today!! 9:30 sharp! And she's a German woman I know, so I know she'll be on time!! And pick on me if I'm late!!
Talk to you guys later on!!
Ellen

Good morning! I only have a few minutes before I need to head out for water aerobics. I sure would be easy to crawl back in bed.... Blood sugar is more sane this morning, and I slept well.
BOB: I do need to get some new pictures of Kaeleb. He is rarely still long enough though, and doesn't like the flash, so he will turn away if I pull out the camera! Little bugger! I am thinking of forgoing the Christmas tree this year because he can be such a wild man! He would pull it over before you can blink an eye! James is in Baltimore this week. He was in Newark last week and Boston the week before. Next time he is going to New York, I think I am going with him and driving up to visit Techwife! :) Wouldn't SHE be surprised if I walked into her barber shop???
Off to water aerobics! Later!

Monet: that would be a WONDERFUL surprise!! :) Also, you should know...Raving Rayman (or whatever its called...with the crazy rabbits and plungers) 2 is coming out today for the Wii. Wouldn't your family be surprised to see you come home with THAT today!! :woohoo:
Off to work I go!! Talk to you guys later!!

Drum roll please:carrot::carrot::carrot: I lost 2 and 1/2 lbs. this week. I'm now out of the 190's and weigh 189. I'm so excited and happy this morning. I'll have to change my ticker later. I ended up last night having a piece of meatloaf and a salad for dinner. It was so good. I've got housework to do today and that will keep me busy.
Tech- Yippee:hug: for things going better now. And your walking is great. That woman's hair sounds so neat. I think you're great to teach your daughter to do some laundry.
Monet- Hope you have a blast at water aerobics today.
Bob- I'll look for that book when I'm at the store. It sounds good. And taste of home always has yummy recipes. Isn't it awful how dark it gets early. I hate that.
Solly- How long will it take for the results of your MRI? That sounds scarey I hope it comes out alright.
Well think I'll go make some coffee.

Good morning ladies, no word on my MRI yet. I had started a pot of vegetable soup for dinner the night before but it didn't get done so we had tomato soup and a grilled cheese for dinner. Tonight they can eat the soup (I have bunco). I just laid around and id my Christmas cards last night. Just was in a funk. I wanted to eat everything I could find, but the problem was the only things in my house are legal. That is a bummer but a life saver. But you can over eat on good things! I just went to the bank and stopped at McDonalds to get a bisquit ( I know :no-no:) sat in line and then decided to be good and eat my toast that I brought. It might have been the too tight pants I have on that are telling me somehting.
Monet, how great would that be for you to walk into Tech's shop. She would die! I am wonmdering how my puppu is going to react to the Christmas tree and other stuff sitting around.
Tech, I am so happy that you had such a busy day yesterday. See it will pick up. Word of mouth takes awhile, but it is great advertising. It is great to teach you DD how to do laundry. I think teaching your kids to do laundry and cooking are a thing of the past. Good for you.
Bob, my DD's is a "House Divided" also. Makes for interesting living. She pulls for the Vols unless they are playing the Cats, as I do.
Toni, You like to cook i nthe crock pot don't you? Do you use the crock pot liners that are out? They are wonderful. Really keeps the pot clean and you just throw the liner away. :cheer: Congrats on the great loss. You have been doing so great. I hate that it is dark so early too.
well have lots of work to do so I had better run. Have a great day.

Water Aerobics was good. There were times I wished I was home in bed instead, but I toughed it out. :) I sold a piece on etsy this morning, so I packed it up and mailed it. Just got home.
I threw a roast in the oven for dinner. I have low carb (honestly! Sunlite brand) potatoes to bake to go with it. I may oil the skins and stick them in the oven. Then all I need is a green veggie.
Tom is going on a tree climb trip this weekend. He wants me to go along, but they will be staying in a very primitive cabin setting and I am not keen on spending the weekend doing nothing while he climbs. I think I will stay home and work on my orders. I got one for four mugs today, so I need to get them done now too. They want them for December 3, so it will need to be a rush job!
TONI: :cheer: Yay on the loss! Keep up the good work!
SOLLY: I am so proud of you for NOT getting that biscuit!
TECH: I will keep an eye out for Rayman 2. I have not played on the Wii for ages...Everyone LOVED Rayman 1. I even did pretty well with it! I never did finish it though.
BOB:  Have you heard from Susan lately?

Good golly, no posts for almost 12 hours. This is bad.
Had a good time at bunco last night. This lady is a little strange or shall I say the most different personality. I kept feeling like we were rushed out. Her prizes are not very good, but it is nice getting together with everyone. I won a pomagranate candle. Will make a good bathroom candle.
It is cold here today and I have seen some light snow flurries. :fr: I am definately not ready for that.''
My neck is killing me, must have slept on it wrong last night.
Going to make homemade veggie pizza for dinner. We finished off the veggie soup for lunch. Looks like I got in allm y veggies today for sure.
Monet, It will be a good chance for you to stay home and get some work done, or you can have a little get away for the weekend too. Whichever works best.
Country, where are you?
Toni,

Have a great day.

Helloooooooooo is anybody home? Just got back from my friend Priscilla's house. We had tea and a nice visit. Also went by the post office and mailed my son a box to Iraq. Hopefully I'll only have to mail one more cause he'll be home in January. The closer I get the more scared I am for some reason. I just want him home. Then some poor other troop will move in to take his place with Mama's scared like I am. How sad. My dog killed a possum on the porch last night. It freaked me out cause I saw her do it. You wouldn't believe I've lived in the woods for years can you!!!! I just had a small meatloaf sandwich. I hadn't eaten since breakfast and came home from town starved. It was so good.
Solly- I don't cook in the crockpot much but I sure need to. I'll have to try those liners. Wish I had some now. I would do my 15 beans and turkey sausage in it.
Monet- Wow got to find them taters. Pot roast sounds so good. Yippee on the sale on etsy. You're doing good on the water aerobics.. Keep up the good work.

Just flying by and wanted to say hello. Tom and I went to the store to get him things to take on his trip. Of course we had to stop and get him some beer too. Men!
I got the mug order somewhat completed, though I think I will work on the fluting. I don't like it. I got a few other pieces done too. Tomorrow, I need to work on bowls with handles, and more mugs. It is nice having some work to do! :)
Sweet dreams everyone!

Good morning Ladies
Got my tree up in the basement last night. It was really hard, stick 3 pieces together and plug in. I like that kind. My big tree upstairs is not pre-lit and I like lots of lights. Unfortunately, my DH refuses to put the lights on. I will do that Saturday.
We pick up our new glasses tomorrow. I hope I can see better.
Monet, Camping, men and beer. that's a man thing. Good luck to your Dawgs tomorrow, but I am pulling for my Cats. That's funny, Cats & Dawgs.
Bob, yes it was alot colder yesterday. But in the 50's today. Good luckt o the Vols tomorrow, who do they play?
Toni, any plans for the weekend? Good luck on your eating. Always sending prauers for your son. January will be here sooner than you think. I can't imagine the fear you and other moms live with. We have a friend my DD's age whose son is in Baghdad. I fear for him also.
Got to run. Have a great weekend everyone

Happy Friday all. Its 40 here right now, brrrrr. The dogs water is frozen outside so it got plenty cold in the night. Drinking my coffee and haven't even had a thing to eat. I know its bad to skip breakfast but for some reason I have a hard time getting that in me. Made me such a good salad for dinner last night with a yummy avocado in it. I hope my eating is good this week end. I want to go ahead and make my cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving. I'm going to try and make it with splenda. Are you all thinking what you're making that day and will it be healthy?
Solly- Wow girl you are on the ball with the Christmas tree. Thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers for my son. His camp is right outside of Bagdad at Camp Liberty. He's the tank commander of a Bradley tank. Alot of the work is night patrols.
Monet- LOL sounds like Tom will have a good time. Steve would love being out with the guys camping. And having a few beers. Glad you're busy with the pottery. Sounds like they'll be some lucky people for Christmas.
Bob-Hopefully I can get to a grocery store the first of the week and see if they have that book. They sure wouldn't have it here in town in our little tiny grocery store. I'm excited to find it. Thanks for the offer to get it. I have to go I think Monday and get the rest of my shopping done.
Well guess I'll go. I'm getting hungry and sure Steve is too.

Good afternoon. I've got a nice pot of 15 bean soup going with turkey sausage. It smells wonderful and I had a little taste of the broth and its just yummy. Wish I would have put them on sooner though. Oh well. Not much else going on here. I've kind of played on the internet today.
Bob- You've been busy. I had planned on going to the store today but guess it will have to wait till Monday now. Bet Tippy smells sweet and is snoring away.
Monet- You must have needed a break today.
guess I'll go back to surfing the net and watching Alton Brown smoke a turkey.

:carrot::carrot:TENNESSEE WON!!!!:carrot::carrot:
By only 1 point, but that's all it takes to WIN!!! We're steps closer to the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP in HOTLANTA!!!!
Of course, WE HAVE TO BEAT KENTUCKY next Saturday, and I've had an uneasy feeling about that game all season! NO ONE can predict that game!!
Toni, I bought everything except odds and ends last week. We fix turkey thighs, and they are in the freezer ready to go. We'll make our dressing that morning and pop it in the oven after the turkey is done. I bought Mrs Schubert yeast rolls (frozen, but just like homemade), cranberry sauce, asparagus, kale, taters, gravy and pumpkin pie.
WHEW!! Looks like I'll be busy cooking!!

Morning! I slept in a bit, but then I went to bed really late! :o
LADYFIREFIGHTER: This is really an easy program to follow during the holidays! Turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans...are all fine! You can make your own cranberry sauce easily with splenda instead of sugar. In the recipe section, there are recipes for all kinds of pies using whole wheat crust and splenda or agave. I have never felt deprived when following Sugarbusters because there are so many choices! Do you need help with specific traditional foods? Let us know. You will probably get a lot of ideas to help.

Howdy everyone. Its a quiet beautiful day here in the Ozarks. The air is so clean and fresh outside. I love going out on the deck and just looking out over the woods. I just remembered I was going to make my cranberry sauce but forgot so maybe I can get to it tomorrow. I did put my turkey breast in the fridge so it can slowly thaw this week. Tomorrow I'll go get the rest of my stuff for my dinner.
Ladyfirefighter- Hello good to see you posting. I look forward to cooking at Thanksgiving its so easy to stay Sugar Buster friendly. I'm making my stuffing with whole wheat bread. And I'll bake my sweet potato and my cranberry sauce will be made with splenda. I make mashed potatoes for my DH but I just don't eat any.
Bob- Your dinner sounds yummy. I may make some rolls in the bread maker. I'd forgot about those. Guess I'd better put yeast on my list.
Monet- I slept late today too. Its made me kind of lazy. I'm glad I have leftover beans cause thats what I'm cooking for dinner.
Off I go. Have a happy evening.

Hi Ladies
I have had a hard time getting into the website today. I had toget an epidural this morning. I have been up since 2:30 with my back, mostly the pain going down my leg. We couldn't decide to do the epidural in my neck or back. So I go back Tuesday and get another one for my neck. My MRI showed the discs were worse on the left, another one on the right and one in my next along with spinal synosis (narrowing of the cyclinder that holds the spinal cord). Just wonderful news. I was so down this morning. Tired of everything in the world being wrong with me. Of all people, I don't even believe in being sick. Other than all these major problems I haven't missed 5 days of work is 35 years. I know there are much worse things and I should count my blessings, but it gets to you after awhile.
Enough doom and gloom.
We did get up 90% of our Christmas decorating. Most of the outside is finished also. Now we have to put up all my Dickens villages. I have about 15 of them (my boss gives us one each year) and I put them high up over my family room on a ledge. My DD has to squeeze up there and set them up. It is so pretty, I should leave them up all year.
Toni, sounds like you have it all together for turkey day. All I have to bring is a bottle of wine. That's my kind of dish!
Bob, congrats on your win. You are right, next week could go either way. I don't know what will happen. TN needs the game to be bowl eligible so they will be playing hard. I'm leaning your way.
Ladyfirefighter, SB is the easiest to follow on Thanksgiving. Turkey, beans etc are all legal. Plan ahead. Make a sf dessert for yourself. Check out the cheesecake recipe on here. Make a sf pumpkin pie w/o the shell. All kinds of things if you jus plan ahead. Good luck
Monet, hope you are up and at it by now.
Guess I will go home and take a walk. I can't go to the gym tonight. Pork chops for dinner. Have a great evening.

Solly: :hugs: What a bummer. Nothing is worse than chronic pain. What is the long-term plan on 'fixing' you?
Toni: I got all my Turkey fixins yesterday and have my frozen-solid turkey thawing out in the fridge. There was a stock boy putting the turkeys in the case and just tossing them in there and they sounded like bowling balls!!
Monet: Did you sleep in again this morning? :D
Lady: I find SB tough during the holidays. I am very traditional when it comes to Thanksgiving and like the same ole stuffing and the mashed potatoes and the gravy. I figure if I'm very good leading up to the day, I'll splurge on the mashed potatoes. Heck, in the illegal food world, there are FAR worse attrocities than mashed potatoes!! As far as I'm concerned. All things are okay in moderation. But...for me, when it comes to mashed potatoes and moderation are two words that should never be in the same sentence. Which is why I have to lose weight.
Anyhow...I've had parent teacher conferences all day. Both kids are doing stunningly well. Kyle is going to be a leader in an independent reading group and Shelley was .10 off from High Honor Roll. She was quite mad.
Anyhow...off to find something for dinner.

Darn my whole post is gone. Something is really going screwy with this site. It took me about an hour to get on after I posted my recipe and then it didn't submit my post I had. Oh well I'll try once again. Went grocery shopping and out to lunch with Priscilla today. I forgot skim milk so will have to run out again tomorrow. I also got my flu shot. Glad thats over with. Guess I'll clean tomorrow and cook Wednesday or rather get my fruit salad and dessert done. Oh yea my cranberry sauce too.
Tech- The mashed taters are a hard one to pass up. Maybe Steve will eat them all. LOL Is your shop closed on Friday?
Solly- I'm so sorry you're in pain. I hope the shots help but its awful to have to live with that. Your Dickens village sounds wonderful. I think I might be under construction this year.
Bob- I looked every where for the casserole book but guess you'd know in this little town none. They did have the Taste of Home mags. WAAAAA
This recipe is the one I'm going to use for Steve and I this year for our dessert. I think it will be better for us than pie. Can't wait to see if I can make a good healthy meal. Okay off I go to finish up my green tea. Don't want to lose this post.

Hello everyone! I did not sleep in today. I went to water aerobics, came home, changed ate breakfast, grabbed Kaeleb and went to Costco and Publix. We had a blast together. I kept him up until almost 2, which is unheard of around here! He is usually grumpy and rubbing his eyes at noon! He LOVED getting samples at Costco. The little bugger is such a pig! I have never seen a kid more interested in eating! He 'pretend' eats with his toys too! Maybe he will be a chef?!? They are going to have to watch his weight, that is for sure!
I got a huge standing rib roast to fix on Thursday. It is like 12 pounds...and will be totally yummy! No turkey here! Thank God! (I hate it! I hate it!)
Once I got home, and was chilling, I heard Laura get home from work, and she was talking to someone, and it was not Justin. I was curious and came down to see who was here, and lo and behold, it was James! Home from Chicago and Baltimore and off all week! Fun!
Tom is unfortunately fighting a cold, so he skipped his meeting tonight and came home and crawled in bed. He is still sleeping.
I did not work in the garagio today. I need to get some stuff done though. I got another order from a friend today for four mugs. I need to make 19 now for Christmas orders! I have a few done, but I need to get cracking! Then I need to throw plates for my presents to family, and etc. etc.! Lots to do, but not much motivation right now. :(
SOLLY: I am sorry you are in pain, and having trouble with your back. I hope and pray the epidurals help. I understand the frustrations of feeling like health issues are dragging you down. I feel that way too. I have been terribly depressed, and very discouraged, and I don't even have as much to pull me down as you do. Hang in there. It will get better!
 I will check in tomorrow morning! I am off to play nurse to my sicko!

Howdy ho..... I've got so much to do but haven't even started yet. I want to clean my kitchen and do laundry also run to the store for skim milk. So tomorrow will be cooking day. Thanksgiving will then be a piece of cake. LOL. Our weather will be turning horrible cold.
Monet- I had forgot you hated turkey. What a wonderful dinner you'll have with a standing rib roast. Yum. I'm so happy James is home. Hope Tom is feeling better.
Bob- I hope you got some good rest last night. You sounded sooooo tired.
Solly- How are you feeling today?
Well off and running.... Will check in later.

Hi Girls
Toni, I had a hard time getting on here today also. I am so proud of you fixing such a legal dinner. You will be the winner. Is it just you and Steve?
Tech, the plan is just epidurals for now. I hate pain meds and won't take them unless it is horrible. I have a high tolerance for pain. Surgery would be the last choice. Have a Happy Thanksgiving in case you are not on here tomorrow. Will you hear from your son at all?
Monet, Touring Costco with Kaeleb sounds like so much fun. I am so jealous. I don't think my DD will ever be ready for kids. With my health, I am so afraid I will not be able to be an active grandma. I am so glad James is home already. Enjoy your family.
Bob, some of mine is cervical too, we just haven't starated teratment on that yet. You and kate have a wonderful meal and day. Maybe you should pull for the Vols. You know your luck.
Feeling better today. The epidural has helped. I actually got to sleep all night. Going to finish the staircase tonight and some other finishing touches. Tried to organize all my SB & WW recipes last night. Now I have my regular recipes to finish. They were a mess.
I will not be able to get on her etomorrow until after 2:30. We have 2 bids tomorrow and a short staff. This ought to be fun.
Have a great evening.

I can't believe I am JUST now getting on here today! I have been rather busy all day. I worked in the garagio after sleeping in a bit. I slept REALLY poorly last night, so it was not a luxury as much as a necessity. I got some work done and I am about to head down to the garagio again, to pull handles and trim what I made this morning. A friend called me tonight and asked me to make her another mug for a Christmas present. She already bought a few pieces off my Etsy site. So, I add that to the list!
Not much else is going on. Justin spent time cleaning for me today while I worked. Tomorrow, I need to bake pies, and make sure I have everything, and shop if necessary. Should have done that today, but I never was very sensible about thinking things through in advance! :o
Off to pull handles! I am also working on an urn for my sister in law to use for her sweet lab who died a few months ago. She has the ashes in a box and I am making her an urn to keep them in.

GOOD EARLY MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!
I woke up at 5 a.m. and decided to just get on up. I put my turkey in the oven last night around 10:30 p.m. and it's been cooking really slow all night.
GAWD MY HOUSE SMELLS GREAT!!!!
I baked my pie las night, so that's done. All I have to do today are the sides.
The most time consuming think I'll do all day will be the chopping of the celery and onions for my dressing. I've got to bake off a pan of cornbread to put in it, but that will be no problem
I'll tune in to the MACY'S parade, and there is a DOG SHOW on afterwards that I want to see, and of course, http://bestsmileys.com/sports1/14.gif http://bestsmileys.com/sports1/14.gif http://bestsmileys.com/sports1/16.gif
I have to second what Jackie said yesterday. We've all become so close throughout the years and I APPRECIATE EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!
I know we'll be tremendously slow from now through Christmas, but come the NEW YEAR, we'll have our usual influx of http://bestsmileys.com/friendly/3.gif who we will http://bestsmileys.com/welcome/17.gif with open arms.

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day! We had a good time. The roast was divine, the Yorkshire pudding was awesome...and made with whole wheat flour! I ate a very small serving of mashed potatoes, and three tiny slices of the three kinds of pie. So, I was off plan a bit, but not too horribly.
Everyone has gone home, and it is quiet. Kaeleb is already in bed for the night...he was SO tired! I may go work a bit in the garagio. The kitchen is cleaned some..though it has a lot more work to be considered 'clean'!
I hope you all had a wonderful day and did not over eat too much! :)

I was up early again this morning, but not as early as yesterday. When I swung my legs over the side of the bed, it felt like someone had pulled my joints out of socket! They are getting better as I move around, but DANG....THAT HURT!!! Guess I'm getting old whether I want to admit it or not!
Hope everyone had a good TURKEY DAY....My dinner came together all at once and I was so happy!
Nothing on the agenda today....I wouldn't go out there if you paid me! I'm doing gift cards this year (cowards ways out) and everyone can pick what they want. We've decided to no do ADULTS, only the Grandchildren. Being out of work those 4 months really depleted my funds, and I'm just not going to get myself further into debt!
I'm devoting this weekend to straightening the house and getting ALL the laundry done..
MONET...I've never done a CROWN ROAST...are they easy to do? I know they sure look beautiful on the platter. Is there anything special you have to do to them?
KRIS....HAPPY TURKEY WEEKEND TO YOU TOO!!!!
I'm off to start some laundry...I'll check in later!

BOB: Isn't a crown roast pork? We did a standing rib roast, which is beef. Same thing just about as a prime rib. I don't think a crown roast is difficult. Do you want me to ask Erik? He would know... I know the crown roasts I have seen are circled. The standing rib roast I cooked yesterday was straight...and BIG. It was sure yummy leftover today too! :) I just made another pan of ww yorkshire pudding and we gobbled it down.

Howdy; My dinner was great but it sure didn't help to make it healthy if I couldn't keep from over eating. LOL.... I had a hard time cooking as Wednesday I went to the doctor and I have shingles. I can't believe I've got them. I asked lots of questions and also went on the internet checking it out. Its very painful and I'm having lots of trouble. Wish I could go to sleep and wake up when its over.
Monet and Bob- Glad your dinners came out good. I love prime rib and will probably make one for Christmas. They're hard to come by here.
Well got to go. I'm itching and hurting again.

Hello y'all--
I'm a newbie to this, and I have to say, I find this an interesting concept (cutting down on sugar in processed foods, etc). I find that about half of what I currently have bought in my weekly groceries is 3 grams of sugar or less per serving... (I'm a vegan/vegetarian).
The only thing that I noticed that is above 3 grams of sugar is AMY's tv dinner products, which for me averages between 4-6 grams of sugar per serving. I suppose what I can do is begin to wean myself off of those rather tasty dishes and start looking/planning dishes that I can quickly make but has less grams of sugar per serving.
I'm also going to try to see about getting into some more whole wheat bread here... I'm really a white bread freak here, but I try to do things in moderation, and it can only help me health-wise if I try to include more whole wheat grains over time. I'd have to look for whole wheat bread that says its "whole wheat" on the ingredients' list and not "enriched whole wheat" since that's code for white bread products, right?
It seems like it'll take me time to be able to get into a more SugarBuster mode here, groceries-wise. But I read somewhere on this forum that a simple, gradual change is the best route! :)
How long did it take for other SugarBusters to change their daily food plans over to a more sugarbuster-friendly food style and what were (if any) symptoms and how long did it take for SugarBusters to overcome the cravings?
Ellen
11-24-2007, 09:16 AM
Morning! I slept ok, but I feel horrible. I am blaming my high bg on that! I need to go down to the garagio and finish up my teapots, then get everything loaded into the kiln and hopefully get it firing tomorrow. I have a bunch of special orders in there...so I am hoping it fires perfectly.
TEA: I made the switch fairly quickly, but then I was already eating low carb, which made it easy. When I go off plan and get cravings, it only takes a few days of being good to get rid of them. I know some folks have headaches when going through sugar withdrawal. I think I have too, but I don't put those things together as easily as some. You know? :) On your Amy dinners, if there are veggies included, or tomatoes, they are probably fine. There are natural sugars in fruits and vegetables, and even in milk products, that will make the sugar grams per serving higher. Read the label and see if there is ADDED sugar...like dextrose, sucrose, or other 'ose'. That is what you want to avoid. I occasionally fudge on the 3 gram rule- especially if I am eating a whole grain cereal. I don't go above maybe 5 or 6 grams, but I do it because it is hard to find good cereal for less than that. I just don't do it very often. If your bread label says "enriched WHOLE wheat" it is probably ok. It is the 'enriched wheat' you want to watch out for. Make sure that it specifies 100% WHOLE wheat. Stone ground is best, so look for that. I live in the south and get Nature's Own 100% whole wheat. It is a nice soft bread, but totally whole grain. They even have a version with no sugar. Watch the breads..many have more than 3 grams of sugar! I agree that a gradual change is probably best. You will stick to it better than if you made a drastic change overnight. I am not good at drastic change! I tend to fall back into old habits easily. :)

MONET...Maybe I'm wrong with the type of roast....I'm talking about the one you see people fix with the white things stuck on top of the bones....which one is that?
TEA....{{{{{{WELCOME}}}}} We're so glad to have you. Stick around, put your feet up and the answers will come as we dwindle in...it's a Holiday weekend so there won't be much activity until Monday.
For me, it was hard because I'm addicted to BREAD!!! I've recently recommited and am doing very well, but it was a struggle for me. Everyone is different though.
I'm off to do more laundry....I've decided to wash all the quilts etc....UGH!
TONI...I'm so sorry...Shingles are a painful thing. I've never had them, but friends have...just do what the Doc says and you'll be fine...more agrivating than anything....

Hi guys; Well here I am itching and scatchin'....... I've done some work in the guest room to help get things cleared out for the contractor to come in. I'm overwhelmed which doesn't help me. But it will all get done. I picked out carpet and laminate today. I know I don't have much. This is an old 74 trailer but its going to be lots better and I'm thrilled. I went with a brown speckled carpet. (good for animals and dirt. LOL) and a walnut laminate for the kitchen. I'm so excited. Its going to be so clean and nice.
Bob- Boy you picked a big job for yourself. Hope you got all the quilts done.
Monet- I hope your stuff comes out beautiful....
tea-Welcome to our corner of the world. Its so good to have you.
Off to scratch. LOL

Evening! Tom and I got up this morning, had some espresso, then he said he wanted to go out to breakfast. Never one to turn down an opportunity to not have to cook, I threw on my clothes and jumped in the car! It was fun. Not legal, but fun. :o
I am happy because I got the kiln loaded and turned on. I decided not to keep the funerary urn for my sister in law's dog. It did not turn out good enough, so I broke it, and will re do it next week. I hope :crossed: the rest of the stuff turns out ok! I sold a piece on Etsy tonight, which always makes me happy. :)
TONI: Oh, don't itch or scratch! Won't that make it worse? Take a nice long soak in an oatmeal bath. Relax, read a book.
BOB: I think the ones with the little white 'hats' on the bones is pork. I have never seen the beef standing rib roast circled like that. Looks like both our teams won today. The VOLS squeaked by the cats... The Dawgs were a bit more decisive, but then it was TECH, and they are our BIG rival.

Hey Monet--
Thanks for the AMY's dinner tip... I checked on AMY's websites, and the ingredients are organic ingredients... with veggies, tomatoes, and beans and tofu (no fructose corn syrup or any "ose" ingredients I've been able to tell so far). It makes sense that some of their products would be slightly higher in sugar grams due to "natural sugars" if that is the case.
Question: does the SugarBuster taboo on white rice include Basmatti rice (since Basmatti rice can be in the form of brown or white rice color)?
Thanks!
Ellen
11-25-2007, 10:02 AM
Morning! Not much to say. Just checking in.
TEA: Basmati is a low GI rice, and the white is supposedly ok. BUT, from my experience with my glucose meter, I only eat the brown. And I try not to eat rice very much because it raises my blood sugar more than other starches. For instance, corn is a no no. But corn is not as bad for ME as rice is! (I am diabetic, so I can check how things effect me. It is a very individual thing though, because my neighbor who is diabetic can't tolerate corn at ALL, but rice is ok! :dunno: )

Hello just checking in. Our contractor brought out carpet samples and laminate samples yesterday and I got to pick. My carpet is a light brown speckled, a little shaggy. My kitchen will be walnut laminate. I'm so excited. He'll start on our bedroom floor tomorrow. No telling where I'll be sleeping tomorrow night. Got to go....

Hi Sue! Welcome! I don't have any addresses for web pages for Sugarbusters. They used to be one, but last time I looked at it, it was pretty slow. Did you need info on the diet? You are welcome to ask here, if that is the case. We may not have all the answers, but we will try! :)

Good Morning Ladies
Sounds like everyone had a great turkey day. We spent Friday shopping (left at 5:30 and got home around 3:30). It really wasn't bad at all. Got tons of great deals. I love that. Now it's back to the grind until Christmas.
Toni, I'm so sorry you have the shingles. What brought them on? It is usually stress or nerves. My DH got them right before my youngest moved off to college. They were very painful for him and the medicine was outrageous. Hope you are feeling better soon.
I know it is a little late on the roast debate, but isn't the roast with the little white hats a rack of lamb?
Bob, Congrats on your Vols victory. What a great game. We should have sealed the deal several times. Oh well, I am hoping we get to go to the Music Bowl anyway so I can go to Nashville.
Monet, My DH loves to eat breakfast out also. It is easy to stay legal, but I can't figure out how to fit in those bisquits and gravy in the plan. :fr:
Tea: :we;come: to our group. I used to buy the Amy's ww cheese and pesto pizza. It was great. Best of luck to you.
Sue, :welcome: to you also. I am in the same boat as you. I lost 105 lbs here and gained 30 back through breast cancer. I need to get it off now before that 30 turns into 40-50. This is a great support board. Ask any questions.
Better get busy here. Have a great day.

I have tons to do today and Tom springs on me that there is a dinner tonight I have to go to with him..and take bread and a side dish to. Grr.
I will check in later! Sorry to be so short here...

Hi, everybody! I'm a newbie to the board. I've been reading posts for a couple of days. I am a low-carb veteran and have decided that low-sugar is probably healthier than low-carb. I don't have the patience to stick to Atkins for the 20 weeks it takes to get back to all the foods that I enjoy that are healthy. I've tried over and over and I just can't stick to that plan. So, my endocrinologist suggested this plan years ago and I decided that I need to give it a go. I bought the book and am reading it now.
I am 36 and live in VA. I am married to a wonderful man and have an awesome 10 year old son who just happens to be autistic. I also teach special education to students with autism and other severe and profound disabilities. I also have a small business where I make custom scrapbook albums fo clients. (I see lots of crafters in this group!) My life is busy and tiring, but I love it. Hopefully, this new way of eating will give me more energy. I definitely need it!
I am excited about joining the group and hope to be of support to you guys. You seem like a great group!

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!
I'm home early today...I jinxed myself talking to Jackie about aches and pains the other day. I picked up something or did something the wrong way and was in a twist all weekend! I made it until 2p.m. and then I had to leave. I can't take my medicine at work, so I slipped out early. Gonna get Kate to rub me down in a little while. I use the Walgreen's brand of the BLUE ICE and it sure does help.
JACKIE...CBS CUT THE DANG FEED AT THE START OF OT!!! We didn't get to see any of the 4 OT's...only updates....THEY put the GATORS on instead! Evidently they only did it in FLA because my Brother saw the whole thing from Danville. I was so mad and you don't even want to hear what all Kate said! The sad thing is that I don't really think they can beat LSU...Missy and I were talking about that yesterday. LSU is just the better team, But we'll see! The AD offered and extension to PHAT PHIL'S contract, but had talked more money yet...(he didn't get a raise this year)
TONI...Feeling better today? I got all but 1 quilt done. The one on my bed. I didn't change my bed yesterday...will do that later today and throw everything in the washer. I'm OFFICIALLY PILE FREE at the moment...of course, that won't last.
MONET...How did you and Kaeleb do? Is your MIL coming for Christmas? Still raining?
WELCOME SUE!!! We're glad you're here...we get pretty slow between now and the 1st of the year, but the reagulars will be here to help you.
I'm off for now. I'll check in a little later!

Evening everyone. Its been a nightmare in the house today. Jerry is putting the new floor in our bedroom and its been sawing and pounding all day. He'll get it finished tonight. Then on to the guest room tomorrow so I've got lots to do getting it ready. I've felt so crappy with the shingles Steve has done most the work. I've also got a mountain of wash to do. Ugh..... Someone come help. LOL....
:welcome3::welcome3: to the new people.... Its so good to see you here:carrot: Ask lots of questions. And good luck to you all.
Eating hasn't been to good. Standing in the kitchen cooking and itching is hard on me.
Going to run. Sorry its so short.

Good morning! I never got back here yesterday. I am sorry. I was trying to order boxes from Uline, and my daughter and son in law got home, but they had his cousin from Vermont with them! So I had to be sociable. She was very nice and I enjoyed chatting with her. Then it got late, and I had to make bread and a vegetable to take to the dinner last night. We were almost 30 minutes late! My fault! The dinner was lasagna, and I had forgotten myByetta, so I only ate a very small piece and a small helping of my green bean casserole. My blood sugar was still bad last night and this morning. Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment...so I hope I can get some answers.
CHERI: :welcome3: We are really glad to have you join us! I used to do Atkins, and switched to Sugarbusters at the recommendation of my doctor. It is a very healthy, easy plan to follow. Please ask any questions you might have and we will try to help. Where are you in VA? I have a very dear friend who lives in Hopewell. She works in Richmond. I love going to visit her. I have gotten the 'tour' of the historic stuff around there and love it! I have been married 31 years, and have three grown kids. My youngest daughter and her husband live with us with their 15 month old son. My 28 year old son lives here as well, but he travels 100% of the time with work, so is only around on weekends. We have a full house some times... I am a potter, so I chat about kiln loads and clay a lot. The rest of the group humors me! :)
BOB: Sorry you got twisted. Be careful! What a horrible thing for them to do, replacing the Vols with the Gators! It IS Florida though. So, do you think the Vols will be playing LSU for the title? I thought the Dawgs had a better record....
TONI: How are you feeling today, dear? Are those shingles improving? I am sorry yesterday was hard. Did they finish your bedroom?
SOLLY: Yeah, rack of lamb has those little hats too, but the 'crown roast' is round, and usually pork. They cut it so it can be shaped into a round, with the bones sticking up to look like a crown. So pretty! (and SO expensive! :) )
I have so much to do today, I will probably meet myself going and coming. I will try and get back this afternoon to check in.
Have a great day everyone! :grouphug:

Good morning ladies.
Made it back to the gym last night a had a great lower body workout (mostly where I need it). I can't go tonight as I get another epidural at 4:30, so I guess any exercise is off limits tonight.
Toni, you need to relax and sit back with some soup. I know you have lots to do, but you need to take care of those shingles. It sounds like the workers are moving rather quickly, which is a good thing.
Monet, to answer your question to Bob, if Ky had beat the Vols, the GA would be playing LSU. Since the VOls won, they get to go. We tried, sorry.
Bob, sorry I jinxed you. Hope you are feeling better today. No time to be sick during the holidays. Boy what a bummer about the game, but I guess the figure Florida people would rather watch Florida teams then Ky & TN. You really missed some crazy football. I would have thought if the Vols had lost, thant Phat Phil would have been gone. Sorry to have to agree, I don't think they can be LSU. I definately think they are the best team.
Cheri, :welcome: I started about the same wt as you and got down to 155 before I had breast cancer surgery. So it can be done with this WOE. You just have to stick with it and never cheat. I know that is hard, but once you cheat, it becomes easier and easier to do it the next time. I think I went almost a year w/o cheating and now it is so hard. I have put back 30 pounds through chemo and after so I need to get down to business and get serious. I have been doing WW with my 2 daughters, but I do better on SB. I admire your work with autistic children. My DD works with ECE children so I know what a hard job you have.
Alright ladies, the work is rolling in so I had better run. Have a great day.

Good morning, everyone! My second day on SB and so far, so good! I think the key, as it is to every WOE, is planning and I have to keep up with that!
Monet - I live in the Orange area. It's between Fredericksburg and Charlottesville. Lots of history all over in this state! I live about 2 miles from Wilderness, which is a famous battleground from the Civil War. I also live not too far from Montpelier - James Madison's home. Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Spotsylvania are loaded with great sites. I've lived my whole life in this area and I love it! I'm a big history buff.
My grandaddy used to have a kiln, but he made mostly molded things (not sure what they're called), like Christmas trees and figurines and such.
BOB - That's terrible, not finishing the game. I thought they learned from the Heidi incident - guess not. I'm a Hokie fan, so I'm happy that we're 6th right now. One more game to go. Boy, has it been a crazy season! Not sure if you're into pro ball, but I'm a Skins fan and am very saddened this morning by the death of Sean Taylor. I feel so badly for his family and friends.
Toni - Hope you're feeling better soon.
Solly - Congratulations on beating breast cancer! That's amazing. I will definitely keep the cheating in mind. That's what kept killing me on Atkins. But, with more available to chose from on SB, I am hoping that it won't be as much of an issue. It is hard teaching special needs kids, but it is so gratifying and rewarding. These kids need to much attention and love and it's very easy to fall in love with them!!
I hope to get to know you all better over the next few weeks. Thanks so much for the warm welcome!!
Hope everyone has a great day!
Ellen

Ok, I got the errands done. The kiln is on, up to high, and I shipped all my packages. Unfortunately, my foot is killing me, so Tom is going for a walk without me. :( I hope the doctor can give me some insight as to why I have this ankle and foot pain that will not go away! I probably ought to make a list of all the things I want to discuss with him.
CHERI: Molded items are usually referred to as Ceramics. That is cool that your grandfather had that hobby. It is a lot of fun for folks who like to paint stuff. I am terrible with painted details, so I stick to simple glazes. I am a potter. I work on the wheel. I LOVE  throwing on the wheel. It is just ME. I make mostly functional stuff.
I need to go figure out what we are having for dinner... Later!

Good morning ladies,
Got another epidural in my back. He was going to do my neck, but the last one helped my neck and my back is worse so that's what we did. The shot was easy. I had a headache going in there and had it all night. So I came home with an ice pack and sat on the couch all night watching ballgames and Dancing witht the Stars (which I was happy about the winner).
Gonna try to get to the gym tonight and do a light upper body workout. I have a pot of bean soup cooked and ready to serve.
Cheri, sounds like you have the answer. Planning and being prepared are the keys to this WOE. I would love visiting your town. I love that part of history. I am surprised that WV was not #1 with all the losses this weekend. I am not a Skins fan, but it is a horrible situation about Sean Taylor. What a tragic loss. I know what you mean about falling in love with the kids. We have "adopted" 2 of my DD's kids at her school for Christmas which she has fallen in love with. My heart goes out to them. Hope you don't catch that bug going around. Teachers seem to catch everything.
Monet, Anxious to hear what the Dr. has to say. Maybe you should see a podiatrist or ortho guy for your foot.
Bob, feeling better?
Toni, how are those shingles today and the workers?
Got to get some work done here. Have a great day.

Afternoon! I am back from my doctor appointment. This new doctor just ROCKS! He gave me a copy of my lab work...something doctors have not done for me in ages. I like having it to refer to after the visit. He was surprised when I thanked him for it. My A1C, the standard for diabetes management was actually within range. It was higher than I had been running, but not badly. We discussed the bg issues and he thinks it is elevated due to the sinus infection I am obviously suffering from. So I am on antibiotics for that. He increased my thyroid meds, and I go back in two months. So, I am hopeful that I might actually feel better soon!
I just had lunch...a grilled cheese sandwich with ham on whole wheat, and a diet coke. I have NOT unloaded the kiln, so that is next!
I will be back later!

Well, I unloaded the kiln and it sucked. The special order was for four mugs. I made six. Well, two had bad cracks. So there were four...and then I found a place where the glaze had not covered on the inside of one of the 'good' mugs so I had to refire today. Grrr. I hope tomorrow when I open the kiln it is perfect, cause I won't be able to take it if it is not.
I feel yucky. My congestion is better, due to the antibiotics I am sure, but I just feel tired and run down. I even took a nap. When I got up from the nap, I was feeling a good bit better, so I am hopeful.
Dinner was a South Beach frozen dinner. It is not sitting well in my tummy. :tired:

Good morning everyone. Wow this has been a rough time here at my house. I've had so much trouble with the shingles and on top of it our whole place is tore upside down. Every room is dismantled. LOL. We're right in the middle of construction. They had to order our carpet and it won't be here for two weeks. So we're going to have to live like this in the mean time. I can't use my laptop and felt to bad to come in the computer room and get on line. I'm sure things will get better soon. Eating hasn't been great either. Seems I just want to grab something at night and curl up in the recliner. Ah happy days are ahead. On a good note we got our laminate flooring in the kitchen and it looks so pretty. Need to go rest. Have a good day.

Ok, where is everyone? Come on guys. POST!
I had a really crappy day too. The one mug I needed out of the kiln I unloaded today...the one I reglazed and refired yesterday...had a weird crack in it! So, my special order is not going to be done on time and I lose out. Makes me so mad! At least I am feeling a bit better.
Tom and I went for a walk tonight and my foot is not killing me, so I feel encouraged.

Good morning! It's been a crazy couple of days! We thought I had chicken pox. It is going around the school and my co-teacher's daughter has it. But, it turned out to be some kind of weird hive. I'm itchy, itchy, but at least it's not the pox!!! I'm on a prescription anti-histimine and a steroid (fun). This is as I'm just getting over bronchitis. When it rains it pours. Several weeks ago, I had a biopsy of a tumor of my left parotid, but it was benign. My husband asked me yesterday (joking) if I could get through two weeks without something! :)
Monet - congratulations on the good dr visit! I'm also on thyroid meds, so know what you're going through. I don't have diabetes, though I am pre-diabetic (PCOS). I hope you feel better soon.
BOB - congrats on the high speed! We are still on dial-up at home. We live in the boondocks. Our only option is a satellite. We already have satellite for TV but they are worried that our tree canopy is too high for another satellite on the roof. I really don't want to pay all that money to install the equipment just to find out it doesn't work. So, I work some at home (mostly my online business) and then the rest, like posting here, I do at work during my lunch or planning.
Toni - sorry you're not feeling well. But it sounds like your home will be beautiful!!
Hope everyone has a great day! Happy Friday!!

Good afternoon Ladies,
Sorry I missed yesterday, but Thursday is my meeting day and it was crazy when I returned. Last night I got all my packages boxed and ready to wrap. Hope to finish all that t his weekend. Cards go in the mail today.
Monet, sorry you are feeling so bad. Have fun at the pottery show tonight.
Toni, I feel so bad for you. Shingles and a torn up home. Keep the finished picture in mind and it will all be beautiful soon.
Bob, Glad the computer is working great. Did you see the Trugers -U of L game last night?
Cheri, Sounds like you have had a round of sickness too. I have to hask, where is the parotid? Glad it turned out ok. Get you some itch cream and try to get some rest.
I sure hope I don't catch all your alls ills. ha;ha Half the people here at work are sick. Coughing and blowing noses all day. No time for sickness.
Going to a party tonight. Started out as our monthly dinner with our old time friends and it has grown into a Christmas, surprise 50th birthday party. Now I am perplexed over what to wear. DH wants to paint the garage tomorrow. Doesn't he know I need to shop?
Everyone have a great weekend. Talk to you Monday

Howdy ho...... Another day of feeling bad. I'm so angry with my body. I hate being sick and these shingles are driving me mad. We were supposed to go grocery shopping today but decieded to wait till tomorrow to see if I feel better. I did go yesterday to our tiny market in town and they had cut a beautiful prime rib boneless roast and I picked it up for Christmas. I can't wait to cook it. Yum. Sorry everyone is feeling badly maybe tomorrow will be a better day for all of us. Lets hope so.
Cheribaby- Sorry about your hives. Hope you got good itching meds. Get well soon.
Solly- YOu're right I'm going to have brand new floors and carpet. And I am enjoying the laminate on the kitchen.
Monet- So sorry about your mug. That must be such a disappointment. Hope you have fun at the party....
Got to go. We've got a gas leak and the guy is here to fix it.
