Well it's a brand new day and a brand new month . . . so . . .
. . . here we are at our new chat thread for the next couple of months.
One little spot in the great big 3FC world where we can speak/spell 'Canadian' when we need to . . . use the metric system for temperatures and measurements . . . and talk about great 'finds' for the diet concious in Canadian stores . . . all without having to wonder if anybody else will know what it is we are talking about.
If you are a continuing member . . . :welcome: . . . glad you found us and don't forget to "subscribe" to the thread so you'll be able to find us more easily from now on. If you are a brand new member . . . :wel3fc: . . . as well. Tell us where you're from and what your programme is and then just jump on in and start posting.
Hope everybody has a great moving and shaking kind of day planned. If we just keep doing the best we can, as much as we can, the rewards will follow.
See you soon . . .

Yayy for making it a two month thread! every time I get on it seems like we start a new one and then I'm behind.
Been reeeealllly super busy these past couple weeks. We had our conference, at which I presented my talk, and everyone said I did really well! :D
AND then this past week I had two days to fill out a scholarship application. I was up late essay writing and got two of my profs to write last-minute recommendation letters and got it all done by the deadline!! Sooo happy about that :)
But these two weeks have been super stressed, and ended last night - Halloween. Definitely did not do well on the food front. I did get to the gym a few times this week and last, but I think I'll be happy if I haven't gained anything come Sunday.
This Saturday marks exactly 1 month till by mini-goal of looking and feeling good for X ring. I haven't lost anything yet, but I still have that month! I know there will be so many pictures taken that day and I hate it when it's a special occasion and you're all dolled up and so happy, and then you look at your pictures and you're like "I look like a fat cow". I don't want to let that feeling ruin my night!
So now that my stress month is over and maybe things will be a little more relaxed in November (No conferences, and it's before finals), I can make a little more headway on my goal.
I will hopefully be posting here more often too! :)
Just to refresh (since I may as well be starting new): cut out the junk, eat smaller portions, and exercise more. I've done it before, I can do it again!! :carrot:
Anyway... enough about me. Loverly weather we are having here today, 14 degrees and sunny!! Beeeeaaaauuutiful!
Meowee: I was lurking and read about your kitten - so sorry to hear about it. I hope his sisters have avoided the plastic bag threat...And hope you're having a better day today.
And happy November, everyone! Can't believe it's here already... craziness!
11-01-2007, 10:52 AM
Meowee - so sorry for your loss of the kitty. :(
Thin - Welcome last month, I hope you stay with us in Nov!
Thanks to all of you for supporting my grumpiness last thread - I still feel like I need a kick in the butt, but things are improving.
Here's to a happy, healthy, goal-reaching November for all of us!
11-01-2007, 04:16 PM
Yippee . . . finally found some Honeycrisp apples today -- if you haven't tried them, I heartily recommend them -- very sweet and very crisp.
I'm looking forward to a good November, too. Accomplished one great thing (for me) during October -- I actually did some kind of formal exercise every day but one or two. Goals for November -- keep up the exercise, and kick my nasty little Cool Whip addiction (must be the nasty HFCS they stuff in there) . Hey, there's nothing wrong with a little CW but I cannot seem to cope with the "little" part. It's become as bad for me as chocolate, ice cream, and peanut butter. So there are now four things on my avoid list. :dizzy:
Thanks for the good wishes about the kitten situation girls. I appreciate them. The other five cats are doing just fine and the little sisters seem to be coping just fine. Guess we all just know that Freckle has gone to that "good" place.
Anyway . . . hope everybody is having a great day. We've had a very mild, but extremely windy day. Just got home from my normal Thursday "shop 'til you drop" expedition with my buddy LouLou. Just made it in time because if is just pouring now.
Keep doing the good stuff, gang . . . :carrot:

Hi there . . . wherever you are . . .
The weather station is still yelling HURRICANE :yikes: for Nova Scotia, although so far, it is just overcast and not even particularly windy. Hopefully they are being overly cautious. Guess time will tell.
See you later . . . if I have power, that is.
11-04-2007, 10:24 AM
Just wanted to let you know that our little 'affair' with Hurricane Noel was not as bad as originally predicted. It has stopped raining and the sun is actually trying to break through the clouds from time to time. Forecasters are saying the wind should die down sometime this afternoon; we are still having gusts at 85 mph (140 kph). All in all, not too bad, though -- at least not right around my area, anyway. We had a pretty scary night with the wind rattling windows and shaking the house and the rain pounding down relentlessly . . . but, as of right now, Nova Scotia is still attached to North America (there were times last night I would not have been surprised to find that we'd been blown out to the mid-Atlantic somewhere ).

 HAPPY NOVEMBER TO ALL OUR CANADIANS ~ I just happened across this thread by accident, again ... I know that there are lots of Canadians on this site, so it's sad to see only a couple posting here. My big problem is that I keep forgetting where this thread is located, and only seem to find it by accident, every now and then ...
OH, how the memory seems to fade as the years go by; I just turned 49 y/o in October, and I'm already having to make notes for my notes ~ LOL!
LINDA ~ GLAD to hear that you are still attached to us (Canada, I mean). We have a stray kitty out and about our place; a neighbour moved and couldn't catch it before he left, so we have been putting out some food for it, but the dang neighbourhood dogs keep stealing it (we have to shoo them away), so we had to put it somewhere less obvious. Now Dh is trying to figure out if it is the kitty, a chipmunk or bird, or dog eating the food. ;)
WE have been getting our Christmas lights up early, taking advantage of the *** delay up here in the far north. We put up red lights across the roof and today DH put up his favorite ~ a very large cross he made several years ago (he put white lights on it); the neighbours asked him to put it back up this year (he had accidentally knocked it down with his trailer two years back).
So, he got it back up on the building today; I went out to help him, as it is so big, it kept falling down on him ~ poor guy! And then he put back up our antenna wire which our last big storm knocked down. All that is left is a Christmas treeoutside and the indoor stuff which we will have done by the beginning of December, I think.
ANYWAYS, that's all for now; hope you all are having as good weather as we are here. I'll try to drop by more often, and I think that I will put up a sticky on my PC to remind me what forum this thread is in. Take care ... ROSEBUD
11-05-2007, 04:30 PM
HI everybody . . .
Wow it has been a cold one today. The winds, however, are so calm, the quiet is deafening.
Glad you found us again Rosebud -- try to remember to subscribe to the thread -- click on the "thread tools" button at the top of the first post on the page and follow the directions.
Have a great rest of the day, gang . . . :carrot:
11-05-2007, 04:41 PM
THANKS LINDA ~ I did the subscription thing and then it sent me right back here; not sure what this will do now, but I guess I will find out soon enough ~ LOL! I really didn't know about all that stuff at the top of the page ...
BTW ~ I also finally found those HONEY CRISP APPLES this week too; I just bought a couple to try them (wish I had bought more): they are absolutely delish! They kinda remind me of 'Juicy Fruit' gum in an apple, and they are indeed 'crispy'. My faves before were MacIntosh & Granny Smith, but now I must add the HONEYCRISP too. Someone here at 3fc's recommended them.
WELL, I'm off to start dinner, take care ... ROSEBUD.
11-05-2007, 05:15 PM
Just click on User CP (the first entry on the purple line at the very top of the page). Yoy'll get a listing of all the threads you 'subscribe' to that have new posts since the last time you checked -- very handy little tool.
11-06-2007, 04:30 PM
Hey ladies! Hope everybody is doing well! I am (finally) able to report a loss this week.... down 2 lbs!!! :carrot: woooooo!!!
Very happy that my new resolve is paying off... now I gotta stick to it.
Noel wasn't that nice to us in the Antigonish highlands... lots of broken/uprooted trees, which caused some major power outages. We were okay in town once they cleared the roads, but the county lost power for at least Sunday; they said everybody wouldn't get it back till today or tomorrow.
So still attached, but definitely an impact here.
Anywho... I'll be around! :P
11-06-2007, 04:34 PM
Beautiful day today . . . high of 10 and lots of lovely sunshine . . . I've been out most of the day.
Hope everybody else is having a good one. . .
11-07-2007, 12:58 PM
Glad to hear you Nova Scotians are still attached to us! My boyfriend is from Halifax, and his dad and stepmom still live out there, so we were following the storm closely, hoping they'd be okay. Now I can relax. :D
My big news for today is that we FINALLY sold our old car today! YAHOO! In August it started having problems, and we couldn't afford the repairs. We got signed onto a lease for a new car (VW Rabbit which I loooove) and have been trying to sell the old one since. It finally sold this morning!! I'm happy to see it go, because it's been weighing on me; I'm a little sad, too, though, because we have some great memories tied to that car! :(
It's a cold and rainy day here, of course. Vancouver in November - nice and predictable. I'm at work for the day, then heading out to go bowling with my brownie group! It should be... interesting. :D
Hope you're all having a happy hump day!
11-07-2007, 03:46 PM
Hi Marianne . . . glad to hear the car is sold . . . actually, the pundits have been saying that Pictou County (where I am) took the brunt of the storm this time and that things in Halifax were quite gentle - well compared to Juan four years ago.
Today started out very rainy -- thought I was going to drown putting out the garbage -- but the day finished up quite nice and sunny, although it is not exactly warm.
Hi to everybody else wherever you are hiding. Hope the day has been good to you . . . see you soon . . .

Where is everybody . . . ?????
11-14-2007, 08:12 AM
Good morning everyone .
I hope everyone is doing well . Things are good in this end of the world . The roads are icy but what can you do ; we are coming into winter afterall.
Christmas is fast approaching , I have a few things i need to get today for my girls . I wish I could win the 6/49 but that is a laugh in a half  Oh well back to reality . I heard on the radio that a couple won 13,000 $ at a casino in Ontario and then a few hours later won 18 million dollars on 6/49 or some lottery . Such luck !!
Well I do not think my father will be buying or placing any tiles in my kitchen any time soon. I was to loose 20lbs by Christmas and I keep fluxuating / up 2 lbs down 3 lbs / up 3 lbs down 2 lbs . I guess that means I have lost nothing . I just keep telling myself at least I have not had any signigicant gains that to me is more important than a new kitchen floor ; eventhough I could really use a new kitchen floor .:(
I guess that is about it for now . Til next time
11-14-2007, 01:53 PM
Hi there . . .
I heard that same story, Annette . . . talk about great luck. Wow. BTW, you are absolutely right . . . no gain is almost as good as a loss and definitely better than a new kitchen floor. Hang in there, girl . . . your time will come . . . I see a loss and a new floor in your future . . . Yes indeed.
We had a little of everything nasty weatherwise yesterday -- SNOW, RAIN, ICE . . . today it is beautiful and sunny and the current temperature is 9. Tomorrow they are calling for 15 or more. Weird. :dunno:
11-15-2007, 05:40 AM
Good morning chickies ,
How is it going for everyone ? Hope everyone is doing well and not stressing out too much about whatever life has had in store for you all . Meowee is right it gets lonely in here .
So today I get to go to work my weekend is done . I am not looking forward to it but such is life.
I guess . I need to get going . talk to you all later . hoping to see some other people here .
11-15-2007, 10:16 AM
Hi there
11-16-2007, 05:59 AM
Good morning . Just running through .
Have a good day everyone !!
11-16-2007, 06:04 AM
Snow anyone? Not the blast they stewed about for two days in the media but enough that I'll have to scoop it off my car.
I don't mind snow as long as it's not on the roads when I need 'em.
11-16-2007, 06:54 AM
Morning . . .
Very mild, very windy, very wet is the forecast for today. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, but 10 degrees colder . . . so the big question for today -- do I go out and finish my shopping in the rain today or in the cold tomorrow . . . decisions are so tough at my age. . .
11-17-2007, 12:11 PM
I'm here! I went home last weekend so didn't weigh myself... and though my official weigh-in day is tomorrow, I sneaked a look at the scale today and I am down 3 lbs! :carrot: This makes 5 lbs down so far!! :D
Yesterday was some ugly weather... freakishly warm but very wet and rainy. Today is cold but sunny! I think I prefer the dry cold to the wet warm. Today I'm not heading to the gym but I am on my own for grocery shopping and I'm planning on making two trips. That's an hour and a half of walking, not counting the time in the store! lol So I think that counts for exercise.
Feeling a lot better about losing weight now that I am seeing some of it start to come off. Yay!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far!
11-17-2007, 05:43 PM
I'm with you Rockie . . . I spent most of this lovely sunny (but cold and windy) day Christmas Shopping . . . the list is starting to look a little tamer, now. Of course, I spent too much money and I ate too much lunch. Other than that a great day. :yay: for your 3 pounds, kiddo.
11-18-2007, 09:00 AM
Actually I cheated and weighed myself today (technically yesterday was the cheat!) and I am down to 149 which makes 4 lbs since my last weigh in, two weeks ago! I know it's probably not super accurate - I definitely did not lose a pound in one day, here... but can you blame me for keeping the lower number?
Another nice day here, sunny but cold! the bf and I are thinking of heading to the beach and looking for sea glass... It's too nice a weekend to stay here and do homework! :P Hope you all are having a great weekend!!
Have a fun day everybody . . . see you soon . . . :carrot:
11-21-2007, 10:28 AM
Where is everybody . . .
11-21-2007, 12:20 PM
Rockie - congrats on a good weigh in!
Meowee - are you SERIOUSLY done your xmas shopping already?! Wow!!
I've been struggling and stressed and busy lately, so sorry i haven't been posting much!
11-22-2007, 09:44 AM
Hi gang . . .
Yes, seriously, I do have my Christmas shopping done. Still doing the shopping day with my buddy today because I know she still needs lots and I have three birthdays coming up before Christmas that I have to buy for yet.
We've got cold and overcast today but at least NS is only supposed to be getting rain today . . . unlike NB which is in for snow and ice in a lot of places. How's it looking where you are?
Anyway, guess I'd better get moving and shaking . . . Try to stay bright-eyed and bushy-tailed all day, gang -- or at least, bright-eyed. Extra :coffee: should help . . . . . . See you later.
11-22-2007, 10:48 PM
It seems like FOREVER since I've been here! I really missed it, but without a computer, my access to anything REMOTELY technical was limited (yes, we have a computer at school, but I don't have that much time during the day to log on).
I hope everyone has been movin' and shakin' -- I know I'm going to have to get back with the program, as I haven't been as active as I would have liked, lo, this past few weeks.
Today was Thanksgiving here in the U.S., and even though I only had one helping of turkey dinner, it's still with me! I couldn't eat another bite! Happy Belated Thanksgiving to all my beloved Canadian friends!
I only have a second before I have to hit the hay, but I did want to check in and make sure my new-ish computer is working (an old laptop from a new friend).
"Hello" to everyone who has arrived in my absence, and I'll do my best to catch up over the weekend!
Good night, All!
11-23-2007, 06:20 AM
Good Morning . . .
Happy Turkey Leftovers Day to you EM . . . turn that carcass into a great, healthy and low calorie soup.
Nothing exciting for this Canuk today . . . weather is not too promising, so maybe I'll start the wrapping process. Must stay out of the kitchen . . . I get an almost overpowering urge to bake, bake, bake at this time of year -- that would be okay, except for the other almost overpowering urge to eat, eat, eat, that always seems to goes along with it. :o
Try to have a great day, gang . . . keep things moving and shaking . . . :carrot:
11-23-2007, 03:47 PM
Hey Canucks! Grey Cup!
The Green Fever has struck the prairies. It seems about once every fifteen years the general populace here actually shows some pride in being from the prairie. Funny stuff. This morning in the gym, the changeroom was all filled with the wonderful senior ladies decked out in green. Gotta love it.
I hope everyone is well. I haven't been around in ages, and have been kind of sticking to a plan, kinda not. Haha.
I think the weekend maybe filled with beer and nachos. You know- showin my Rider Pride. I'll try to enjoy in moderation though.
Everyone have a great weekend.
11-24-2007, 08:59 AM

11-26-2007, 10:53 AM
Thought I'd pop in and say Good Morning . . . one more time . . .
11-28-2007, 06:56 AM
Good morning chickies ,
How is everyone ? I am doing ok , I survived working the overnight midnight
shift over the weekend . Boy oh boy I think my body is still recovering from it. The weather is warm but rainy this way . That is about it . Got to get running . Too bad I do not mean that literally . I am however finding time to walk on the treadmill , now that my shift is starting at 930am instead of 8am . ok too much blah blah . Got to go .
Bye , annette
12-01-2007, 10:14 AM
Hi . . . is anybody out there? . . . We've got snow . . . how about you?
12-02-2007, 06:34 AM
Good morning everyone , hello Meowee .
Weather is cold and windy here in Saint Jean , nb. It looks like it is going to
snow the next couple of days.
Things are good here. I am off for 1 week starting today and I don't know where to start with my cleaning . I have to get my daughter ready for her little school Christmas/holiday season recital/show today. I have no idea what to do with her hair . Oh my !!! Well I guess i should be on my way . I hope to see everyone on here soon . It is nice to hear from everyone .
bye bye for now , Annette
12-02-2007, 09:44 PM
We've even had snow out here on the west coast this week! Not much, but a fair dump for Vancouver - about 4-6inches at my house in the city, and more out in the 'burbs. The snow has definitely put me even further into a Christmas mood! Getting excited about shopping for presents, going home to my family, the whole deal.
I'm getting some big things figured out about me, my life, and my approach to weight loss, too! I bought the Best Life Diet book this week, and I think it's going to meet my needs... now I just need to decide whether to shell out for the website or not... it's not cheap, but if it's going to make me get back on plan and sort my life out, maybe it's a good investment?
Chocco - enjoy your week off!!
12-03-2007, 04:09 PM
Hi there . . .
Been out running errands most of the day and I'm exhausted . . . but felt I really needed to take advantage of the little lull between blizzards.
Have a good evening everybody . . . see you soon . . . :grouphug:
12-04-2007, 03:23 PM
the white stuff just keeps getting deeper and deeper her in north-eastern Nova Scotia . . . . . . how are things looking in your neck of the woods ????
12-10-2007, 03:34 PM
Hi everyone. I'm back AGAIN! Bad time to begin again, I know...but at the rate I've been going, if I wait any longer, I'll weigh as much as the goodyear blimp! Maybe I can drop a couple before Christmas gets here....then in the new year, I can begin from where I am today instead of 10 lbs heavier than I am today. lol Good reasoning, huh??
Looks like it's been a while since anyone's posted here. Hope I'm not talking to a ghost thread. :(
For those who remember, I had surger in July 07, had some complications, took about 3 months to heal completely...and I've packed on the weight since then. :( After surgery, I lost down to about 218 (216 for about a minute one day, but I don't really count that...it literally lasted about a minute!). Now I'm back up to 230...again!! :( Gotta get if off....it's just packing on and on.
I went back to Curves (1st time since surgery) last Friday. I'm pretty much back on the wagon...for now. I'm going to WW meeting tomorrow. I've gotta do it...I'm feeling terrible....achy joints, back pain, feet hurt nearly constantly...the whole thing. :(
Anyway, hope to find someone else to talk to....
12-10-2007, 03:42 PM
I'm still around DIANA . . . at least we can talk to each other . . . I manaaged to lose 5 lbs over October and November but I'm not doing so well with December. Like your attitude and hope it's contagious.
See you later . . .
back at it
12-13-2007, 01:43 AM
Hey, guess who's back??!! I was "Wide in Winnipeg" a long time ago, any one remember me!???LOL! Guess there will be a new Cluck Club starting in January, just in time to get to know you all and get cozy!
I'll be back....
back at it
12-13-2007, 08:59 AM
Good morning! We have what they call blizzard conditions here in Winnipeg, the wind is strong and we got a little snow last night.
I think I might do a little cardio this morning to start getting used to working out a little before monday, thats my starting day.
Have a good day everyone!
12-13-2007, 09:40 AM
Hi WENDY . . . How come the name-change?
Hi Everybody Else, too . . . :grouphug:
It's snowing here too -- in other words SSDD.

12-16-2007, 03:39 PM
Hi . . .
We've got storm warnings out the 'wing-wang' as does a lot of the rest of the country. Hope everybody is staying warm and cosy.
12-16-2007, 05:01 PM
We're snowed in here ... seriously ... if you look at a road conditions map of s w Ontario ... we're buried under those orange striped bars.
12-18-2007, 10:09 AM
Hi there . . .
Things are a little better around here . . . it is cold and still fairly windy, but the sun is shining at the moment and there is nothing too exciting going on -- as long as you are lucky enough to be able to stay off the ice-covered roads. :s:
12-18-2007, 12:25 PM
Hi all - sorry it's been a while since I've checked in. I've not been doing well lately and been too ashamed to do much chatting on 3FC! I'm slowly climbing back on the wagon, though, so here's hoping for a better 2008.
Diana - glad to hear you are healing and getting back at things as well!
I think Vancouver might be the only place in the country without weather issues today - just a typical chilly, rainy winter day here.
12-21-2007, 11:37 AM
Hi gang . . . :grouphug:
Just wanted to wish everybody a Very Merry and Happy and Healthy WHATEVER it is thay you may be celebrating over the next couple of weeks.
I probably won't have a chance to check in here while I'm away . . . but you never know, I might get lucky. Hang in there gang and I'll see you all on January 3 when I'm back.
12-29-2007, 06:00 AM
For a while our computer was down and then i could not for the life of me found the site. Yesterday i was browsing and found it, and IM'd Ruth and she directed me back here.
Thank you Ruth.
I am still working at losing and have been doing so well. I am down 37 pounds and am 18 from goal.
I weighed in at WW on Thursday, all though there was no meeting. I wanted to know where i stood. I had gained a half pound over the holidays, and that was because my tummy, with all the stress and my compulsion to have everying perfect when the family arrived was, well you know.
Now if i had weighed in on Friday, LOL, we wont go there.
Ilene please message me.
I am so motivated and have been although this journey. I just knew that this was my time and that i was going to do it.
I was in Penningtons in Cornwal yesterday, and bought two pairs of jeans size 16. They are tight but the 18 would have been too loose. That is from a 42-44 so let me tell you i did not need the car to get me back to Williamstown, where i live.
I need to get some exercise going and have a couple of five pound weights but really dont know what to do with them. I have a big ball too now.
I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy and above all a Healthy new year.
I always had a hard time finding this group again when the month changed. Please let me know how to follow it. I am not very computer savy.
Bernice in Williamstown.

Hi gang . . . I'm BACK . . . and here's a new home for us for the brand new year . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1980840#post1980840 . . . hope to see you all over there.
