HAPPY HALLOWEEN! It promises to be a perfect day for the little ghosts and goblins to be out and about. The girls get to wear their costumes to dance class this afternoon, and afterwards I'm going to grab a couple of Happy Meals (:fr: I know, but it's a special treat just for today) for them to eat in the car on the way over to Amber's to go trick or treating with her. Then we'll all come over to my house, where they can "do" the street until Cindy & Richard come to get them. They were so excited yesterday when I left, with them living out on the farm, they don't get the chance to go door to door, so I bring them over here every year.

This morning, first Curves, then getting some housework done before resting up for this evening. :)

What are your Halloween plans for tonight?

10-31-2007, 07:30 AM
Good morning!

Y'all will be pleased to know I found my missing Halloween decorations and got them out there yesterday. The pumpkin lights even work after three years! The goodies are still in the trunk of the car - I confess I did eat one little red liquorice pack but just one! The wee ones will be here around six and the "rush" should be over by seven. After that it'll be just the big kids and I'll probably be out of goodies by then.

Donna comes this morning so I have the usual tidying to do after breakfast. Hersh and I do pet therapy at the clinic at noon and then go to see potential new dogs. Willy and Serena are 3 and 6 and are Brussels Griffons looking for a home. We'll see if they click with me and meet Hershey's approval. I am not getting the two of them and prefer the female at the moment.

That's about it for today. What does your Halloween look like?

10-31-2007, 07:52 AM
Hi there
I am new to this forum, so trying to catch up on whos who!!! As you can see I am from Ireland, and we dont celebrate Halloween with quite the flourish that you do in U.S. but it is getting more popular.
I have been on Beach for about 8 week now. down 10lbs, but have been hovering round that for bout 5 weeks, so today am cutting out my slice of rye bread, which means I will be down to just fruit and yog. But need a kick start so am going to see how that affects my weight.
Will check in again later.

10-31-2007, 08:02 AM
Clarri, :welcome: and congratulations on your loss so far. (By the way, my family came from Wexford back in 1831. Maybe we're related. )

10-31-2007, 09:28 AM
Hi Ruthxxx
Unfortunately unlike you I am not origionally from Wexford!!! So you are probably more Irish than I am!!! I was born in London, but have been brought up in Wexford since I was 3, so really count myself as Irish!!
Have you ever been over??
Thanks for the lovely welcome by the way!!

10-31-2007, 09:57 AM
Boo! :fr: Supposed to be shaping up to be a nice day today! Nice for the kids in town as I remember growing up how much I hated having to bundle up and ruin the costume! Our small town had trick or treating last night also, but I did not turn my light on. I refuse to contribute to the obesity of our children by handing out candy two nights in a row (oh I know I am a party pooper!). Perhaps now that I think about it they are doing it because many people goto church on weds evening?

Cottage Have fun tonight. I grew up out in the sticks also, glad the kids have someplace to go that makes them happy.

Ruth Hope you have a good connection with one of the dogs today.

Clarri Welcome! Ireland, how amazing! I lead such a sheltered life, never been out of the states! I hope you find the answer to the weight coming off again. P2 is all about finding what works for you! If only our bodies all reacted the same this journey would be so much easier! You have come to the right place for support and getting your questions answered!

Me Not much new going on, another month down, on to a new one! I do wish in this wonderful mortgage business I am in we would not measure our sucess in months. As long as we are consitantley closing loans the boss should be happy, but he's not. Of course we do it here also in setting our goals, and we do need some kind of time frame to go by. I am rambling and this post makes me sound grumpy today! I need a vacation!

Have a great day all and I will check back later. :haphal::spid::ghost:

10-31-2007, 10:01 AM
Happy Halloween!

Cottage: Hope your day is perfect and your workout is super
Ruth: Glad you found the decorations and hope your therapy with Hershey is well.
Clarri: Welcome to the site and the best of luck to you

Good morning to all the other chickies not yet up

Halloween for me - i will pass out candy at my moms house but other than that same ol same ol. Be back later...

10-31-2007, 10:44 AM
Happy Halloweenie!
:ghost::badbat::witch::haphal::spid::witch2::frank ::dracula::bat:

Cottage: It sounds like you and the girls are in for a fun night! Hope they get a lot of candy!

Ruth: I can't say that I've ever heard of a Brussels Griffon. I'll have to google that later. Hope you have a great day!

Clarri: Welcome to the beach! :beach: I'm really looking forward to getting to know you!

Pacer: Our town had trick-or-treating on Saturday, but the traditionalists will be coming tonight. (I hope). I think it's strange to have Halloween festivities on nights that aren't Halloween, but I guess I can't have everything my way. ;)

GonnaBe: Happy Halloween to you as well! Hope you have a great day!

Me: Just sitting here at my desk dressed up as a geisha! It's fun. One person has shown up in their costume and two others are expected. I'm considering going home at lunch to take the makeup off, but I'll wait and see what the customer response is before deciding.

Tonight is steak and Ghost Hunters night while passing out the candy to the kiddos. Promises to be a lot of fun! Hope everyone has a fun and not-too-spooky Halloween!

10-31-2007, 10:51 AM Here's a link to see a Brussells Griffon. They look dressed up for Halloween.

10-31-2007, 10:51 AM
Good Morning chicks and Happy Halloween!:badbat::bat::bat::badbat:

I will be trick or treating with the kiddies tonight, while DH hands out candy. It will be a little chilly, but not bad at all. I've got some last minute alterations to do on the costumes while the kids are at school. After school, we'll carve the pumpkins, have a quick dinner, and hit the road with my little ghouls. DS has a friend coming over to go with us.

Hi Clarri, welcome to the Beach! :welcome3: My Dad's side is irish, not near you but from County Antrim, but emigrated pre Rev War. Funny how much of the Irish you can still see in the family though; we have redheads pop up periodically, and pretty much all have the fair skin and high color. I have not visited Ireland, but that is definitely a trip I want to make someday. Anyway, sounds like you are doing great! Let us know if the Rye bread was the culprit. I recently had my first piece of Rye since starting SBD, and would love to make it a regular thing.

Have a ghoulishly good day!

10-31-2007, 10:52 AM

Happy Halloween, everybody!

Cottage, Halloween is always much more fun with little ones about. Hope you and the girls have a great time! :D

Ruth, I hope things go well with Hersh and Serena. I know it's rawther sexist of me, but I prefer female pets, too. I hope that you have a fantastic time with the little ghosts and fairies tonight! Love that you have pumpkin lights!

:welcome3: Clarri! We were in your neck of the woods last year in November. You live in a lovely place! We absolutely adored Ireland...mostly the countryside and little towns rather than the bigger cities, though Dublin is lovely. :cloud9: I found that the brown bread there had no effect on my cravings--maybe you could try that instead of the rye, which does tend to have some white flour in it? Congrats on your current success!

Pacer, I hear you about the frustration of measuring by months. Feel free to be grumpy and vent here. That makes it much less likely that you'll stuff your feelings with food! :D I think it's so weird that places have Halloween Trick or Treating on a different night than Halloween! DH grew up with it, so he thinks celebrating on 10/31 is weird. Oh well...I'm glad you don't do it twice...not only would it be very tiring for you, but I agree with the fattening up of kids...maybe you could hand out cans of tuna or something on the first night? :lol3:

Hope you have fun at your mom's tonight, Gonnabe!

Talk about venting...I have the most vitriolic (I didn't realize how perfect that word was until I met this guy...) man here in the writing center. He is so full of anger that it hurts just to be in the same room with him! :bomb: He's constantly venting his anger at me while asking me to help him. I have to tell you, my patience is about shot! Now he's on his cell phone and is yelling into it!!! :headache:

In other news, I'm thrilled it's Halloween! :ghost: I can't wait to get home and decorate...I'm praying the little ones don't come too early, as I can't get home until 4:15! :sklol: We didn't carve our pumpkins this year...I always run out of time and forget. :o But I have tons of decorations for outside anyway. We're handing out mini cans of Play-doh, bouncy glow-in-the-dark balls, and mini microwave popcorn bags. I'm excited!:witch:

Hope everyone has a great day and night!

10-31-2007, 10:55 AM
Wow, lots of simulpostings!

Kim, glad you agree with me on weird nights for Halloween celebrating!

Love your plans for the holiday, Schmoodle! Have a great time!

10-31-2007, 11:07 AM
Thanks for such a warm welcome., :dizzy: from everyone. In relation to the brown soda bread, tried cause I love it, but sadly no, it was a staller, so Im thinking maybe wheat in general is just not for me. Am also going to start keeping a calorie check for a few days, to make sure that I am not eating too much even if it is beechy.

10-31-2007, 11:14 AM
dont know what happened there, didnt finish what I was saying, anywyay looking forward to getting to know you all, and you all seem to have SBD sussed, I just cant believe how long it is taking me to suss it out. Had chickpea flour pancake with loads of veg and sprinkling of lf cheese for brek, left over beef and bean crockpot stew, and bowl of wholegrain basmati rice pudding. I will have a salmon steak with loads of veg for dinner, and maybe a yog of sf jello for snack. So how does all that sound to you girls? Not bad I reckon.
Your opinions are v valuable to me

10-31-2007, 11:15 AM
Ruth: Thanks for posting that website! I'll be checking it out in a second!

Schmoodle: What a fun evening you have planned! Hope the costume alterations go well!

Laurie: Hope the guy leaves soon and you get a break! Sounds like I have a friend here in the Halloween front! I think the big deal with having the festivities on Saturday here is for the kiddos in school. I understand, but I just hate it!

little chick
10-31-2007, 12:26 PM

Hope everyone is having a good day... I am late getting in here but the wee ones and I craved pumpkins and I decorated the pumpkin cake I baked and made the treat bags for the kids I babysit. Lunch is over and I still need to finish dishes. And it is almost time for the bus stop and playground time. Everyone have a fab day and enjoy halloween....

10-31-2007, 12:28 PM
Happy Halloween Chickies!

Still playing catch-up at work, I just looked at the calendar and realized it's only 20 days til vacation. Don't suppose I'll lose an extra 20 pounds by then.

I brought my camera to work and I'm planning on someone taking my monthly "during" picture, just as soon as I can find someone not busy.

Clarri - Welcome to the beach! Someday I'm going to do a walking tour of Ireland. That's going to be my ultimate reward when I get to my ultimate goal weight.

10-31-2007, 12:31 PM
Happy Halloween,

Just finished my workout for the day, now have to get the house cleaned up and then get dd ready for preschool, she gets to wear her costume to school today and then the school has a parade at 1:30 p.m. for all prek through 6th graders on main street- so me and dh will be there to take pictures then run back to school to help out with Halloween party.

Tonight I will take dd treak or treating and dh will stay home to give out candy-Proud to say that I haven't touched any candy---but I did do phase 1 yesterday in the hopes that I can do today so I don't touch any candy--fingers crossed.

Hope everyone has a great Halloween.

10-31-2007, 12:49 PM
cottage - Brian doesn't like to trick or treat any more but he loves to hand out candy so that it what he will do tonight after he gets home from gymnastics. I've got my Halloween earrings on at work today (spiderwebs with a spider). We did finally get the lights put out last night so that the few Trick-or-Treaters we get will notice the house. We're on a dead end street so few come.

Ruth - I looked at the picture. I hope you find a good match for you and Hershey. BTW - I noticed that the September stickies are still there. Shouldn't they be unstuck and the November exercise stuck? I'll add the Exercise Queen post in a day or so and then the October Exercise can be unstuck.

Clarri - Welcome! My family originally came from England and Ireland but that's a long time ago. I'd love to visit sometime but probably never will.

pacer - I agree that one night of Trick-or-Treating is enough. I know some of the churches around here did Trunk or Treat on Sunday but we only do tonight. And we're giving out leftover Tootsie rolls from the cub scout event I ran a month ago. They don't tempt me like most chocolate. I was going to give out the leftover Dum Dums but Brian likes those lollipops so I'll keep them for him.

I'll try to get back in later. Work is calling me.

10-31-2007, 01:16 PM
gonnabe, schmoodle, and everyone else - Happy Halloween!

Kim- I think it's cool that you dressed up for work. I don't see much indication of anyone dressed up here. Not even special earrings like I have on. I wanted to dress up for the campout when the kids did Trick or Treating then but I was cooking cobbler and my flowing witch sleeves just didn't seem like a good idea with hot charcoal!

beachgal - We didn't carve any pumkins this year either. We do have one Brian painted at camp. I guess I should carve it up at some point.

Me - We got a tent repaired last night so Brian and I can be in different ones for the Webelos Wood Campout this weekend. He might share with his friend which would be fun for them. His friend got scared staying alone in a tent before so maybe he would be better with Brian who has stayed alone before. Brian put the lights up last night so we are all set there.

I've got pork loin in the crockpot with pearl onions, red onions, parsley and sherry so I don't need to worry about dinner tonight.

10-31-2007, 01:46 PM
Good Halloween afternoon to all. Did my lunch time workout now all I have left is my evening walk/jog and grass cutting before it's time to pass out candy.

Beachgal: don't let him get to you, focus on your halloween evening. I really like the stuff you give out, south beach friendly

Clarri: good luck on the calorie counting

Dixie dieter: where are you going on vacation?

Peralrose: :dust:in hopes you stay away from the candy

Barb: dinner sounds delish

Everyone have a great afternoon and a safe and happy halloween.

10-31-2007, 02:10 PM
Thanks, chicks, for the encouragement. The guy eventually left, only to be replaced by another cranky customer! :?: Not sure what is going on...but I'm hoping the afternoon brings much happier people! :crossed:

Clarri, I love your "accent"--I "reckon" you have a good meal plan there. Try to keep a protein in your snack, so if you don't have yogurt, have some low-fat cheese or something with the jello--it'll make you feel more full. Did you throw veg in the beef and bean combo? That would help you feel more full too. :) Putting the calories in Fitday is a good thing too. You might not be eating enough! I hear you on the stalling--sometimes it's not the item, but the time you're eating it or what you are (or are not) eating it with. You might be able to try the bread again later on, so don't give up hope. :D

10-31-2007, 02:12 PM
Barb, good catch on the September stickies. :o I didn't even notice! I unstuck them both, so things should be a lot clearer up there now. :D Thanks!

10-31-2007, 04:02 PM
HOLY COW! :haphal::badbat::ghost:

What a miserable day. I'm a wee bit stressed out due to my micromanaging new boss (who swears he doesn't micromanage) because he sent out a Holiday Schedule with the mandatory shifts that the SD's will be working between Nov 18 and Jan 5. Excuse me? I don't think so. My holiday schedule is already made and that's what I'm working because NO job will come between me and God or me and my family. He says he had to terminate someone last year for not following it, but we'll see what happens. I sent him an email letting him know what I'm willing to work and why, and told him if there's a problem with it, to let me know today because I'll get another job before I'll let him tell me I can't go to church with my family on the holidays.

Then got a text from my separated DH (dingus husband?) wanting me to lie and sign an affidavit saying we haven't had marital relations in over 6 months so we can file for divorce tomorrow. Um.... no. I told him if he wants to see someone else he can feel free, I won't stop him, but I'm not going to lie just to rush things along because he wants to be with someone else. Apparently he is seeing someone else but they don't want to "do anything" until the divorce is final. That's a shame. I told him to knock himself out, it doesn't bother me at all, otherwise they'll be one frustrated couple having to wait until February. Not my problem though.

So that's MY day. I'm fuming about the first part and laughing about the 2nd part. At least I have a reason to laugh today right?

SO glad I don't have any halloween candy in the house (until tomorrow when it all goes on sale.....) otherwise I'd REALLY be in trouble tonight when I got home. Hope you girls are staying away from the bad stuff and sticking to the good stuff! Have a good one ladies!

10-31-2007, 04:35 PM
Lisa - Ooooh, I HATE micromanagers. We have a couple of project managers like that here. Can you explain to him that the shift schedule had already been posted and plans have been made? I'd make DH (D for dumba**) wait too.

Gonnabe165 - We're just going home to West Virginia for Thanksgiving at Grandma's. It's going to be hard to stay on plan with her cooking.

10-31-2007, 04:56 PM
Oh, Lisa! Your XDH is full of :censored: for even thinking of asking you to lie just so he can go do the vertical mambo with his latest fling. :p I'd be so frustrated by that--I'm so glad it's making you laugh. On the other hand, knowing that he has to wait until February might make me laugh too! :lol3: Poor, poor DH! :s: Your manager sounds like he needed to get just the kind of note you sent! You are totally right--I think it's abominable for anyone to try to tell you when you can worship and to keep you from time with your family. Really responsible employers (and those that want to have great workers) realize that a balance between work and home life is the best way to run things. I hope he listens...though maybe getting a new job (free of micromanaging uh..."donkeys" would be the best Christmas gift you could give yourself? I hope it all works out well!

10-31-2007, 06:08 PM
Thanks Dixie and Laurie! I still haven't heard back from my boss, so I'm guessing one of three things has happened:

1) He's busy in a store and hasn't gotten my email yet,
2) He's rolled over and peed on himself and is still crying because I'm such a tough broad, or
3) He's so ticked off that he doesn't know how to respond so he just hasn't yet.

I'm hoping for either 1 or 2, right now. He hasn't been a micromanager until today, at least to me, but I'm going to put an end to it really fast. First conversation we had was that I don't do micromanagers. I work my butt off and get my stuff done and take care of you, and you take care of me by leaving me alone and letting me do my thing. Why does he care when I'm in my store as long as I'm in my store working my hours, my store is covered, and my work gets done? Roar.

As for X-DAH (a little incorporation of your two definitions,) he's a schmuck. Why would you start a relationship less than 2 months after your wife left you? A month ago he wanted to make things work. It just makes me laugh because I was the rebound girl from his last relationship. Then I ended up supporting him (he couldn't afford things without his ex) and this girl is just the same pawn. It's really funny to me. I hope she stays strong and won't give him any until the divorce is over. Dad says maybe I should drag my feet a little..... but I want this over as much as he does, just for different reasons.

It also makes me wonder who it is, because I always kind of wondered if he was having an affair while we were together, and maybe that was why he was always accusing me of having an affair. Not only did I not have an affair, I won't even date anyone NOW because:

A) I'm still married, and
B) I'm very happy being on my own with no one to tell me what to do ever.

My boss messed with the wrong girl! I'm used to not putting up with being told what to do!!!! Don't mess with a girl going through a divorce during the holidays, for sure.

Well I need to wrap things up and get out of here. Hope you girls have a great night! STAY OUT OF THE CANDY BOWL!!!!

10-31-2007, 08:21 PM
I'm out of it so far. Luckily there have been lots of kids and I may be all out soon. My biggest problem is Hershey who is in love with the little ccokies 'n cream chocolate bars. Do you think she can read "Hershey" on the wrappers? I did let her have one - white chocolate is OK for Doggage.

Nice visit with the wee doggies this afternoon. Serena is adorable and like both Hershey and me. Hersh looks on her as a puppy which is good. We'll do some more visits but I'm sure they'll be fine and Serena will come to live here in early December.

I think I'll give it another 15 minutes and then douse the lights in the front of the house. Private Practice is on at eight!

10-31-2007, 09:00 PM
Hi gals. Came in late today. Have been embarassed to come over because I've been doing very poorly. I know, I'm always the one who says you should come anyway, even when you're feeling bad...especially when you're feeling low. What a hippo-crite! I feel like a hippo. My pants don't fit...I feel like crud...I'm eating more crud because I feel like crud...

It's November now here so today's not only a new day but a new month. I need to turn myself around. I'm just disgusted with what I've allowed myself to do to my great progress from earlier in October. Apalled.

10-31-2007, 09:41 PM
Hi chicks, I'm in here looking for distraction! My angels are busily sorting mountains of chocolate in the family room, so i made myself some NSA hot chocolate and ran in here to the office to hide. They are going to do some trading and then will hide the rest in their rooms as agreed. At least I got lots of exercise as we were out trick or treating for nearly 2 hours. Both of them got lots of compliments on their costumes, so they are pretty pleased. I love to walk around and see all the decorations and costumes. Some of the houses go all out!
I made steak and the broccoli-cheese soup for dinner, and that soup was really yummy, but then, you chicks haven't steered me wrong yet.

Kara, I've been doing poorly lately too. New month, new commitment. We can get back on track. Just don't give up! Not allowed!

weezle, sorry your boss and your X-DAH are giving you problems. Hope your X doesn't make the divorce more traumatic than it has to be. Sounds like you are well rid of him, though.

I am going to weigh in the morning and see how close I got to October goal. I really have no idea where that needle will land due to some weird things going on with my body right now, but I've behaved pretty well since the weekend and I'm hoping that thought will keep me from the candy tonight.

10-31-2007, 10:17 PM
Hoo-ey, what a day! It feels good to sit back with my feet up and a cup of tea by my side. Jake handed out the treats here while I was out with the girls. There were tons of kids out in Amber's neighborhood, but Jake said we didn't get too many trick or treaters here. We have a big basket full of candy leftover, so I'm making him take it to work with him tomorrow. I proud to say I've stayed 100% on plan today!

Lisa, I love the way you are sticking to your guns and morals concerning your boss and DH! It's too bad that you have to be putting up with all that crap, but stay strong!

Kara and Schmoodle, it wasn't such a good month for me, either, but we just have to keep taking it one day at a time without giving up.

My tea's getting cold and it's about time for bed, so I'll see you all in the morning. Sleep well!

10-31-2007, 10:22 PM
I'm a moosie too girls. The whole month my weight went between 121 and 124 and I'm still sitting tight at 124 but I just oinked out like crazy again. The last week has been horrible. At first I blamed it on my TOM (sorry Tom) and now I'm guessing it's because I don't have much in the house to eat so I'm just having a little bit of everything and not really keeping track. No veggies left, etc.

I'm going to the store tomorrow and praying that I stay good! New month, indeed! And I have all kinds of healthified recipes for Thanksgiving so I should be ok there. Now come the hard months and I really need to get my butt in gear!

Let's hold each other accountable! SOMEONE YELL AT ME!!!! :drill: :drill: :drill:
Obviously I need it.

10-31-2007, 10:23 PM
Thanks Cottage and Schmoodle.

10-31-2007, 10:54 PM
Ruth I am glad your afternoon went well and I hope your night wil be the same

Kara great attitude - new day, new month , new beginnings Good luck!

Schmoode glad the trick or treating went well and I sure hope the scale shows just what you want to see

Cottage way to go on an on plan day. Thats better than any treat. Get some rest and we will chat with you in the A.M.

Weezle sorry for all you are going through with the boss and husband, your in my thoughts and prayers

Good everyone - be back in the morning

11-01-2007, 12:13 AM
Thanks for the prayers Gonna. I can use all I can get!

Oy. My brain is saying "MOOORRREEE FOOOOOOOOD" even though my stomach says "please, no more!!!!" One of these days I will crack the code and figure out what exactly causes the food bingies. I haven't even been eating anything BAD, it's just I've been craving a little of everything GOOD. What's it mean when you crave a black bean burger topped with a lite laughing cow wedge and some salsa, no bun? Do I need some candy to get rid of my health-food cravings????

I blame the duodenum. I don't know what it does, but I'm sure that's what causes it.

Going to take Cottage's lead and grab some tea instead (sleepy time kind.... should be a nice night tonight.)

Sweet dreams chicks. See you in the morning (but don't expect me too early!)

11-01-2007, 06:14 AM
Hey, Lisa, isn't it illegal to keep someone from observing his or her religious practices by scheduling him or her to work during those times? I don't think you can be fired for going to church. I have no reference, but I thought that was the case.
