It was time. :p

Don't forget to check out #31 so u don't miss anything.

Here's something a friend emailed me today. AMAZING HOW THESE PEOPLE GET ALONG IN THIS WORLD. I'm sure many of you will print this one out and take it to work. :lol:

THESE FOLKS ARE AMONG US !!!!!

HOW DO THESE PEOPLE SURVIVE?

Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets.
"We don't have half dozen nuggets," said the teenager at the counter.
"You don't?" I replied.
"We only have six, nine, or twelve," was the reply.
"So I can't order a half-dozen nuggets, but I can order six?"
"That's right."
So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The paragraph above doesn't amaze me because of what happened a couple of months ago. I was checking out at the local Foodland with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those "Dividers" that they keep by the cash register and placed
it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the "Divider" looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding
the bar code she said to me "Do you know how much this is?" and I said to her "I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today." She said "OK" and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue to what had just happened.....
MAKES YOU WONDER HOW THESE PEOPLE CAN SURVIVE!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. When inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM "thingy".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. Do you need some help?" I asked.
She replied, "I knew I should have replaced the battery
to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car.
Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenient store)
would have a battery to fit this?" "Hmmm, I dunno.
Do you have an alarm too?" I asked. "No, just this remote thingy," she answered, handing it and the car keys to me.
As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, "Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, "I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?"
"Just use copier machine paper," the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five "blank" copies.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was in a car dealership a while ago, when a large motor home was towed into the garage. The front of the veh! icle was in dire need of repair and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in Twister." I asked the manager what had happened. He told me that the driver had set the "cruise control" and then went in the back to make a sandwich.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IDIOTS AT WORK...
Sign in a gas station: Coke -- 49 cents. Two for a dollar.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IDIOTS & COMPUTERS... My neighbor works in the operations department in the central office of a large bank. Employees in the field call him when they have problems with their computers. One night he got a call from a woman in one of the branch banks who had this question: "I've got smoke coming from the back of my terminal. Do you guys have a fire downtown?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IDIOTS ARE EASY TO PLEASE: I was sitting in my science class, when the teacher commented that the next day would be the shortest day of the year.
My lab partner became visibly excited, cheering and clapping. I
explained to her that the amount of daylight changes, not the actual amount of time.
Needless to say, she was very disappointed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Police in Radnor, Pennsylvania, interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine.
The message "He's lying" was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn't telling the truth.
Believing the "lie detector" was working, the suspect confessed.
Hey Owls!!
I am beat tonight...worked from 7am- 9:30 pm.....not a good day. Part of the reason I was at work so late was that my Uncle lives in the Convalescent Center where I work and he has been declining lately. He has end stage of Alzheimers. Todaywas really bad as he could not swallow or eat. I am not sure but I think he may have pneumonia. They did a portable x-ray tonight so we should know something early in the am...the nurses tonight will already know...I may call them when I get off here. I just had to stay with hm for awhile and his wife came and I hated to leave her...she is still not fully recovered from a broken hip she sustained the day before Thanksgiving. They are both loving Christian people and I hate to see any of them suffer.
I also ended up doing some stuff to get ready for tomorrow's inspection......they paln to leave tomorrow!! YEAH!!! I hate to confess but I have done alot of emotional eating today...But I did realize that I was doing it ...I just didn't care... today. I will dust off and start anew tomorrow....
I got the Cinnamon Bran Muffins off the recipe site here......I have tried to "quote " it so here goes:
Originally posted by lighter
2 c. Kelloggs All Bran Extra Fiber Cereal
1 1/2 c. skim milk
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 - 1/3 c. applebutter
2 egg whites or 1/4 c egg substitute
1/4 c. golden raisens or 1/3 c. dried cranberries
Heat oven 350 degrees Spray 12 muffin cups with veg. spray
Combine cereal and milk. Soak for 15 minutes
Combine flour, sugar, b. powder, raisens, cinnamon in a large bowl. Mix well
Add 2 egg whites to a measuring cup. Add enough applebutter to make 1/2 cup. whisk together and add to cereal after it has soaked 15 min
Add cereal mixture to flour and stir just until dry mixture is moistened. Divide in 12 muffin cups and bake 20 - 25 min.
Cool 5 min before removing from pan.
Notes: I store the muffins in a zip lock bag and warm two for breakfast in microwave on medium (50%) power for 1 minute. They freeze well. You can use Splenda in place of the sugar successfully. I still count the muffins under the 123 Success plan as 1 1/2 pts each. This is my morning breakfast everyday.
Ann P
They are quite good....I didn't have applebutter so I used aplesauce with just a little extra granulated sugar substitute...couldn't tell....
Gonna head off to bed....Sorry not to reply to everyone but I am just too tired and unable to think clearly...
Good Morning - It's finally drying up here in Fla. Been getting heavy showers....then nothing....then drizzles and now the sun is out and shining and it's going to be in the 70's today. I've already been to the barn so that's done and now I'm going to take all of the window treatments down in the house. I'll need them for the new house and this house has vertical blinds throughout. If they don't see the house WITH the treatments.....they wont want them. :p
Michele - Way to go on those SEVEN POUNDS !!!!!! You have GOT to be feeling like you're on cloud nine right now. Nice going.
Candice - Who's the cutie-pa-tootie ???!!! You look great by the way.
The kids have the next 5 days off starting today! AAAHHHHH!!!!!! I'll let you know if I survive or not.
Have a great day !
Good monring everyone!
Sorry I haven't been posting much. Andrew has been so sick and I have been fighting it still! We ended up taking him back to the doctors wednesday night. He now has a double ear infection. He is on antibiotics now and doing much better!
We went to dinner last night with John's dad. I didn't too bad! Except for the bread...that is my weakness! I had a broth based soup and I ordered the broiled flounder with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. I also sampled some of John's fried calamari! This morning I am trying to curb my points! I had coffee with creamer (1pt), water (o pts) and I just ate my 4 point lunch because I was so hungry. I will have tea and water for the rest of the day till dinner.
I have to do some grocery shopping tonight because John's dad is with us and I hear we are suppose to have 6-8 inches of snow tomorrow. That means the stores will be crazy!
Well I better get back to work. We are moving downstairs and I still have to pack up my desk and stuff. I will be moved down on Monday morning! I'll catch up to you all later! Have a great day! Michelle
Thank you for letting me know that a new thread has started:dizzy: Guess I havn't been following this in the right way.
Candice- I will be 44 soon but I think why I can eat those points is because I'm very active. Not only with exercise but also just plain busy. It took me a long time to see how many points I could take in to maintain my weight.
I don't have my notes with me right now, but when I come back I will post some of those myths that we talked about in the WW meeting this week. Some of them were common sense but some of them the members were shocked about.
PJ- nice picture of your son, very handsome:)
Hope you all have a great day. I'm off to work at my friends flower shop, I love working there.
Hi and happy Sunday to everyone.
Hope that you are all enjoying the weekend. Mine has been busy but I sure have gotten alot done.
Here are some of the myths that we talked about this past week in the meeting room.
1. No matter how hard I try, I can't lose weight. I must have a sluggish metabloism. TRUTH: Some people do have metabloic abnormalities which can be confirmed by a physician. However, for all but a few, a faulty metabloism is not the cause of being overweight. consuming too many calories and not spending enough of them on physical activity are the main causes of overweight.
2. If I stay on my diet, I'll lose weight every week. TRUTH: Almost everyone hits a plateau now and again. If you think you must lose weight every week, you'll occasionally have to deal with frustration and discouragement and those negative feelings could cause you to give up. Diet is not the only influence on weight loss or gain. Activity, lifestyle, age, heredity and medication can affect weight too. Hitting a plateau is a common occurrence. Being aware that it may happen can reduce the disappointment and frustration.
Ok, that is only two of the myths/truths I will add more tomorrow.
Have a great day, I'm hoping that the Packers win today because the Bears lost yesterday.
Julie;)
Candicej
01-21-2002, 04:36 AM
Thanks for posting those Julie and I knew about them both, I also heard that old story abut getting older and your metabloism slowing down and they say it is loss of muscle (cause that burns more caloires) that is the culprit!
I know my meds cause me to gain, that is why I cut them back! Don't know what I will do if I a have to up them again!
Hello and Happy Monday!;)
I hope you all had a great weekend. Now we start the begining of the work week. I will be working at my friends flower shop this morning and then heading out to see if I can start a new WW meeting in Oconto Falls tonight.
Here is another myth/truth: Starchy foods are fattening, so it's good to avoid them.
truth: It's not the starchy foods that make you overweight but overall calories. Eating more calories than you expend is what makes you gain weight.
What are your thoughts on yo-yo dieting? It is really dangerous to your health than remaining overweight?
I should get some exercise in before I leave for work.....have a good one.
Julie
Candicej
01-23-2002, 04:37 AM
Julie..I have always been told that yo yoing is bad for your heart, but then again so is being very overweight so If you are at a healthy weight don't sweat the small stuff! I had some health issues and wanted to feel better but I have been up and down with crash diets before when I thought I was fat but I wasn't really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't the starches increase the fat around your middle like the stress harmones or is that an old myth too??????????
I have been having terrible cravings, usally I want healthy stuff so it is not a problem but lately I want anything and everything, I have never deprived myself while on WW and still eating within my points but just what yould happen if I would go way over one day...I am 4 under goal...so would it be such a bad thing?????????I see that Pizza Hut is running special..the second pizza for .99 That means I can eat two!!!!!!!!!!!:lol:
weightwatcher
Hello, hello and happy Hump Day (you know the middle of the week:lol:
Well most of our snow is gone, what a winter we are having! How about the rest of you, got any snow?
Candice: I'm not sure about the starchy foods increasing the fat in the belly area but to much of a good thing could cause that. Are you a big carbo eater? I'm addicted to it and really have to watch my point intake with that stuff. Now going over in points in one day won't hurt you but if done to often.....well we know that the weight will come on. Actually, now that I'm a lifetimer (I have been doing this since 1993 and it hasn't hurt me at all) I don't journal on Thurs. That is the day we all go out to eat after the noon meeting. I know that I go over in points on Thurs. but get right back watching my points on Friday. I actually think that if a person can do this and not get back into any bad habits it is perfectly ok. Keeps us from craving I think.
Now as for Pizza hut having a special:o eat only one!
Hope you all have a wonderful day, keep you all in my thoughts. I'm off to do 2 WW meetings, I just love this job!
Hi ladies!
I am still around - been fighting that darn sinus infection - and I finished my meds on Friday. I still didn't feel 100% - but figured I would with time. Well as of last nite my bad headache is BACK!! I am thinking this infection is not totally gone and need to call my doctor back. These headaches are killers - YUCK!!! <sigh>
I have to run - I just wanted to say HI. I am very busy today here at work and need to call the doctor.
I will be back soon!!
Tara :(
PJ
Tara - I noticed you checked out the QUOTES page. Glad you like it and I hope you get something out of them. I get them in my email every morning and afternoon. I haven't read one yet that I didn't like. Hope you feel better soon......drink lots of water and pick up some Progresso chicken with rice or noodles soup.......I LOVE that stuff when I'm not feeling well.
Julie - Hi....NOPE!!! No snow here. :p It's actually been pretty nice after alot of rain and some nights dipping to the low 30's. Wow.....2 WW mtgs. in a row....I guess you really DO love your job. Wish I had you around here. I've got alot of "dud spuds" for leaders and get more support from right here on the NIGHT OWLS and the chat room. Hope you had a good day too.
Candice - Well, well, well. You ARE human after all. ;) I was beginning to wonder about you. Not going off program ever and maintaining for so long.....you're my idol. Anyway, I get alot of night cravings and tea and toast are my "comfort" food. Alot less calories than most other things I could reach for ..... plus it takes time to prepare and sometimes I find myself just having the tea. Works for me and I guess we all have our own little "tricks" to beat those "urges". I like what you and Julie do......I too have one day a week ... sometimes not that often....but I do have a day where I pretty much go "all out" ........say, if I'm at Cracker Barrel or the Flashback Diner (an old...and old-fashioned diner that makes the BEST breakfasts). And all for only $1.99
Well, gotta go.......I'm going to stick the meatloaf in the oven.....run to the barn and feed-up....then it's back home and go over Billy's spelling words AGAIN!!!! He didn't want to do them twice and I don't want him to not want to do them or have to fight with him so he promised we would do them again tonight. He had hockey last night and baseball starts for us soon too so I should be missing during the day for a while......I'll still pop my fat head in here in the pm though. Stay well and be good everyone. I miss you missing owls.
I'm going to stop off at 7-11 and get some coffee. I'm feeling kind of "poopey" right now.
Hi again!
Called the doctors office and they put me on a different antibiotic for another 10 days. Fun! I took 1 pill tonite and my headache is alot better already. Works for me! I just hope this pill kicks this infections butt! I don't like it hanging around - it hurts!
PJ - I love that progresso soup - but actually my new favorite is the Healthy Choice ones. They are really good!! And have 1/2 the sodium that progresso has. Just a tip :)
Gotta run - its time to relax and get to bed. Busy day at work tomorrow - I have a United Way luncheon to go to also - our governor is the key speaker. Should be interesting.
Tara :D
Ok....I have figured out that the longer I am up the more I eat or want and I guess that is ok cause your body burns more awake than alseep! I finally got to sleep at 9:30 this morning and slept untill the thermal gas man woke me up!!!!!!!! (The LP tank is right outside our window, so no gals I am not having a fling, no such luck!;) That would be about 3 pm. So if I am not awake I am not eating and if I am wake for more than a day then I want everything to eat! Right now I am back on track and have 10 points left so hopefully tonight they will get banked unless I can't fall asleep again! I know I can only bank 5 aday so I will jsut have to eat he other five:D
PJ..I love tea and toast in the evening, has to be caffine free though! Sometimes I spinkle a little cinnamon sugar on it!
Julie, I wondered if you took a day off or not, people have been telling me too but I don't want to lose control or anything like that! I went into this knowing it was a lifetime change and I am ok with that cause I am so much more aware of what I eat before I eat it ......not after! I love pizza and eat the WW ones all the time but like Pizza Hut once in awhile, I could freeze that other pizza and might do that!:) I just read on a site that house cleaning burns a lot more than just walking so when I am gardening or cleaning I must be burning alot! Sounds like you love your job, How much did you lose on WW??????????
Hi Tara, glad you are finally getting some relief, being sick is no fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
HI there and TGIF:lol:
PJ: To bad that you have "dud spuds" (that is cute) for leaders. I'm the kind of leader that believes that there is to much serious stuff out there that we have to deal with on a daily basis so I make my meetings light and fun. Although we have fun, I always make sure to get the point across. I'm glad that you can get the support you need from here and the chat room.
Tara: Hope you are feeling better and I love those Progresso soups myself!
Candice: I never took a day off from program until I knew that I could handle getting right back on the next day and continue until the following Thurs. It took a few years but now I don't have a problem with that. What you could do is try it and see if it works. Just keep in mind that you don't have to go nutsy and eat everything just because you are not counting or journaling:)
I lost about 75 pounds by myself but could not lose anymore. I was so upset with myself, hated myself, didn't like the way I looked, was tired all the time, didn't look good, had an awful attitude (need I say more)....last but not least, I was giving up and gaining back pounds until I went to my first WW meeting and learned that I wasn't eating right and that was my whole problem. So the actual weight loss with WW was 15 long, hard, pain in my butt pounds. I was an awful member, questioned everything:s:
What WW has done for me in not only the weight loss but it is the first time in my life that I have been able to maintain that stuff off. Have I mentioned since 1993! That is why I say I'M MAINTAINING 90 POUNDS OFF AND VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT:)
Everyone have a great day.
Julie
Hi everyone,
I just can't believe it. It is Jan. and we are having a thaw!!! We have no snow at all, you can see the grass. Actually I don't mind that much that we don't have snow but I feel sorry for all those people that bought new snowmobiles and can't use them. My daughter Meghan is going crazy, she has a snowmobile and can't use it. Oh well, next year at this time she will have her drivers license......need I say more.
Candice: Is there anyway you can share that cookie recipe. It sounds good and I would also like to pass it on to my members.
Have a good on points day everyone.
Puffed Up Chocalte Chip Cookies 3 dozen 2pts per cookie
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
½ cup applesauce
1 cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup butter, softened
1tbsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
cooking spray
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl; stir well with a
whisk.
3. Spoon applesauce into a fine sieve over a bowl; let stand 15 minutes.
Discard liquid. Scrape drained applesauce into a large bowl. Add sugar
and butter; beat with a mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy
(about 2 minutes). Beat in vanilla and egg. Add flour mixture; beat at
low speed until well-blended. Fold in chips.
4. Drop by level tablespoons 2 inches apart onto baking sheets coated
with cooking spray.( I used parchment paper, it worked better for me) Bake at 375 for 10 minutes or until almost set. Cool
on pan 2 to 3 minutes or until firm. Remove cookies from pan; cool on
wire racks. (I don't use the wire racks either)
Per Serving (1 cookie): 78 calories, 2.9g fat, .8g protein, 12.8g
carbohydrate, 10mg cholesterol, 87mg sodium
The cookies will be soft and chewy with a crisp outside. The batter will look like brownie mix, thinner than regular cookie dough but it will bake ok. That is why I like the parchment paper, they don't spread too thin this way. They freeze well too!
Candicej
01-27-2002, 04:48 AM
Julie......when I was mixing up this dough I told my Dh that I didn't think it looked thick enough to stay in cookie form but it did. He liked them and he is my tester for things! They will not be like regular choc chip with all the fat but they are still very good and very sweet. They will get made in my house again!
Thank you so much Candice for printing that cookie recipe. I made a copy of it and I will certainly make them. I also bring a recipe with me every week to my WW meetings to share with the members. You can be this will be the one for this week.
I'm on rescue squad call today so I have to stay close to home so I think that I will work on my WW meeting for the week, (haven't really even looked at it yet) and just relax and hope for no calls.
Hi Owls,
Sorry to be a stranger. Always something with me. I am still having problems with my neck/back from the wreck and my ankle from where I fell on the snow. I go tomorrow for my first trigger point therapy session. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it helps.
I hope you are all doing well. I hope to be able to read back a little and catch up but you were on my mind today and I wanted to say hello.
Take care
Miss you all
Ok gals my Dh is complaining that his clothes arre too tight and he would like to lsoe a few pounds but he won't do WW with me and I can't control what he eats throughout the day so I had him cut out his orange juce (he needs for potassium) and repalce it with v-8, he won't eat an orange and I had him eat only a half a banana and cereal at breakfast. Do you think this will drop a few pounds??? Any suggestiojns would be appreciated.
I swept out the garage today and picked up some trash that blew into our yard, had the dog with me and she got all tangled up in the plum trees sniffing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did good eating today..no sweets yet and points banked Walked the treamill too!
Julie, how often are you on call for the squad???????
Hello and Happy Tues.!
We are having some cold weather here and that darn weatherman keeps saying snow but still none!!! Soon it will be spring and that is when we will get the white stuff.
Candice: It is hard when the husband wants to lose some weight but won't eat certain things. The only thing I can say is use lots of low caloried meal ideas and just don't tell him that it is lower in fat and good for him. He should lose ok, men usually do, so just keep him on some sort of track. I love oranges and the ones I just bought are really juicy. Usually this time of year they are not so good.
I also loved the picture you posted here, what a great place to walk. Looks so peaceful and a place where I could really do some thinking
:)
Hope everyone has a great day.
Julie..I do serve him healthy stuff and watch his portions when he is here. It is the eating when he is not at home that is getting him into trouble:( Candy bars, doughnuts and ffast food!)
I made that cheese vegetable soup tonight, one cup is 1 point, had 2 cups so I had room for dessert! (choc-cinn-quesadillas) 3pts Sending some down to the boys with DH tomorrow, they like spicy stuff!
Raining here now and supposed to be a mixed bag of stuff for the next two days :eek:
That is the road going north from my house and here is the one coming back.............
Ok, just this minute the weatherman said to make sure to be watching tomorrow because some big storm is supposed to be coming....why do that do that? We know with how they have been reporting that it will just pass us by:dizzy:
Candice: I know just what you mean and you can only do so much for the people that you love when it comes to their weight. We can offer all the best stuff at home but when they are gone, they are on their own.
Love the picture, looks so peaceful, I know that I would enjoying walking in that area.
Wonder where everyone is, or is there another thread started and I just can't find it?
I'm off to Green Bay and Peshtigo for my WW meeting today.
Have a great day, stay motivated!
Hi everyone!!!
Sorry that I couldn't get here yesterday but our server was down. I was worried so I called them, the last time this happened it was because someone stoled our password and that is why we couldn't get on.
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes;) Guess I'm now officially 44 years old. It was a nice day, because it was in the middle of the week, we couldn't do much but Kevin will take me out to eat tomorrow night.
We finally got it....tons of snow. Actually we have so much that all the schools in the area are cancelled. Boy, when Meghan gets up she will be outside in a flash and gone all day on that snowmobile.
Hope all of you have a great day, and this is what I told my members this week (we have weekly challenges) WATCH THOSE PORTIONS AT HOME AND AT RESTAURANTS.
