100 lb. Club - OT - What is good for fine lines and tiredness???

Hey all,
I do not wear make up. I will admit that I look tired all the time (mostly, because I am ;) ). I don't get bags under my eyes but I get a single dark line (discoloration) that is diagnol across my face. It might be about 2 inches long....there is one under each eye. I guess I get this instead of bags. I think these appear because of tiredness; maybe it is just apart of my complexion. It's not so bad that I want to run and hide but I just want a smooth complexion. Anyone else have these?
Well, I dont have a facial routine. Meaning, I just wash my face and use the same moisturizer in the morning and evening. I am ready to try a nice moisturizer regimen but I dont know where to start. I am 31...I dont get acne. I just have some discoloration (not even skin tone) ...those lines under the eye and the beginning of fine lines (character lines on the forehead, bridge of the nose) No one elses sees them BUT I do!! :dizzy:
Anything out there that reduces the appearance of pores. I mean can one thing or even a couple of things do all that?? I would apprecite any advice. I don't even know where to start?? :?:
I know I asked alot of questions but I dont know anyone else (except you guys) that might be able to help me and point me in the right direction.
Thanks for any help you can give!!

I use Clinique, and it's done wonders for my skin.
I use their moisturizer morning and night, as well as their pore minimizer, and I love them both.
Even though you don't have acne, maybe a good quality toner would help with some of the discoloration. Make sure you have a moisturizer with a good SPF sunscreen in it, and be extra sure you're getting enough water.
We've all got different skin, and what works for one of us might not work for another. My suggestion would be just to start somewhere, find what works and doesn't work for you, and go from there. But really, as long as you've got a nice moisturizer with a good sunblock in it, and are getting enough water, you should be fine.

it depends too on how old you are - if you're a youngin' like me (40) hahahahah then by all means, cover that spot up!!
either a cream concealer 1 shade lighter than foundation, applied with a brush, over the dark spot
or my new favourite is a PINK "brightening stick" and I run a line of it from the tear duct down, about an inch and gently smudge it - it deflects light away from it - awesome really!
and once your face is flawless, a little dab of an iridescent (but not sparkly) light gold or white shadow as a high light on the brow bone, and a little smudge in the tear duct, wakes up the whole eye area!

Hi Ann,
2 things.....
I drink a lot of water and I have had a noticeable difference in my skin becasue I do not skimp (cost wise) on moisturizers. I also use a lotion called Idealist by Estee Lauder. I spend quite a bit on the basic skin care stuff....moistuizer, idealist and foundation and it makes a difference for me. As far as other makeup...just the stuff out of the local drug store...revlon and almay etc...but the water and other things I listed above have helped. I also think the type of vitamins you take will help as well.
I guess that was 3.... ;)

Mary Kay has an excellent skin care regimen (yes I do sell it but i'm sure you have friend who sells it in your area, so not trying to solicit business for me :)).
1. Cleanse, exfoliate, freshen, moisturize (there are different products to help you achieve these four steps).
2. For large pores, the Microdermabrasion is really great (I have HUGE pores).
3. For eye lines, the Firming Eye Cream works WONDERS. Everyone I know who's used it has had amazing results, including me.
4. For undereye dark circles, the highlighting pen works well, or even the tinted moisturizer with SPF sounds like it would work well for you.
*** Also, aside from outer skin care, sleep, lots of water, cutting back on caffeine, and eating LOTS of fruits and veggies can do wonders for your complexion. Hope this helps!! :)

Thanks guys for the info!
Sara- I have heard good things about Clinque and Lancome. I will invest in some creams...a creme for day and one for night as well as a toner..... I will look their products up on the net.
Trazey. I am 31 so I guess I will try some concealer. I don't wear make up so it will take some practice. Also, I am Black so I dont know if the pink brightening stick will work for me. ;) I will look and see if they have them in darker shades. As a treat to myself (when I get to a size 14) I am going to get a makeover and find out how to apply makeup..what to get and etc... Thanks to you...I am going to get some concealers. :)
Robin - I know sleep would help but apparently that is not an option or I would not have posted a question on the board :) Also, I stated in my post that I get the dark line under my eye EVEN when I sleep well... Thanks for the "helpful" suggestion, though. :dizzy:
Dolly- I drink 9-15 glasses of water a day. I will look up the Idealist line on the net. Also, I need to start taking a vitamin. Any suggestions on a certain one??
Mom2Mollie - Thanks! I may contact a rep about the Firming Eye Cream or tinted moisturizer. That really sounds good to me because I dont want to wear heavy makeup. I just need a light touch of it. I dont have really bad discoloration but unfortunately....I am sometimes a perfectionist and that pertains to how a treat my body/face/skin (now that I have started caring about myself)
ETA: Losing weight has made me want to better myself even more. I really take care in how I look now. For example, Before: I would get ready for Church in 30 minutes. Now: It takes me almost 30 minutes to decide what I am going to wear. Geez!! I get compliments on my skin but I can see the change! I want to take preventive measures and I want to be the best me.
Thanks all!

I take the generic version of One A Day Women's Formula. It's Equate brand, and it called Women's One Daily, and I find that it works really well for me. I refuse to pay almost $10 for vitamins when I can just walk down the aisle at Wal-Mart and get the same thing for less than $2.
I also take an additional B12 supplement, because chemotherapy has left me so depleted on vitamins and minerals that my body needs a little help catching up.

Sara- THANK YOU for posting that. I will get some One a Days (generic ) from Walgreens tonight AND that B12...It couldnt hurt. I had radiation on my neck (and they had to hit certain areas my face also to hit all the right spots). I completed my radiation in May. I had posted a thread around that time for help because I had radiation burn on each side of my face. Everyone helped then too! So I am really blessed that my skin bounced back. I look "normal". I just have one light patch (maybe 1-2 shades lighter than my skin tone) next to my ear. I hope my new regimen will help! Thanks again!!

I think we have the same type of discoloration. BIG dark bluish gray lines under your eyes? I think it might be hereditary as well as somewhat due to your skin tone. I am very fair skinned and the veins just show up prominently under that thin skin under-eye.
I like Clinique's "All About Eyes Rich" for under the eye area. For all over I use Estee Lauder HydraComplete.

I use emu oil. The stuff is like a miracle cure for everything. My skin tone looks fantastic and I do suffer with adult acne and it is actually fading the old scars. My boyfriend was on a very expensive medication for rosacea and since using emu oil his skin looks terrific with no redness at all.
check out this site and do a search on it. I love this stuff!!!

Ann,
I use GNC Ultra Mega vitamin for women. I also take folic acid, calcium, B 12 (my Doctor checked my level for B 12 this summer and I was really low...) Vitamin C, cranberry tablets and ordorless garlic.
Please check with your doc first about vitamins...I would not want you to take anything your body does not need. I take several of the others I list besides the Ultra Mega because of my age and other reasons....my doc and I discussed all of these before I got going on them.
Good Luck ;)

You can buy Blue Emu at Walmart. It's in the pharmacy section with the products for joint pain. That is what we started with and it works great.
