Happy October! We are all ready to start a new month and do GREAT!!!!

10-01-2007, 02:03 PM
Hope everyone is geared up to make October a great weight loss month!!

Shy- you are not eating any meals that contain more than 4 grams of fat? What on earth are you eating?? I'm just very curios.

Well I can check one chore off my to do list. I got the front flower bed cleaned up - 3 big lawn & leaf bags full of hedge clippings and pulled weeds. I'm filthy, sweaty, sticky and I'm quite sure that I stink. I still have other hedges to clip, but they can wait until tomorrow. I just couldn't take the heat and humidity any more so called it quits. After I clean up, it's off to Wal-Mart. I may treat myself to a small Dairy Queen. I'll have to check on the calorie/fat count.

Just thought I would check in and say hi. I asked this in another thread but I thought I would ask in each thread I go to a lot. Will get a good idea of what I am wanting to find out that way. How much protein should I have a day. Doc moved me down from the 1600 calories Alli says to 1400. No wonder I could never eat enough lol. Is there such a thing as to much protein in ones diet?

10-01-2007, 05:05 PM
shy...i was also moved down from what calories alli says to eat. i was 1800 now the dr. says 1500. protein from one of the sites i visit ( says 60 - 135 grm of protien a day. bobbigene..girl that was some yard work you did ! :dizzy:

Oh thank you. The site I found said something like 32.5 and I thought oh my gosh I have had 75 today. Most of it from a chicken breast but darn. I was real worried that I was way way over.

I have my 3 meals of the day broken into 6 meals a day. On average I eat about 21 grams of fat a day. Generally never more than 6 in one meal. Even with a 8oz chicken breast yesterday ( going to cut that in half I was so full I was sick after eating that much at one time ) I still only had 21 grams of fat for the day.

Didn't really think 6 grams was enough to take the Alli.

Hi everyone, I'm doing okay. My hubby went to Ireland tonight for a week of golf with some friends 'Boys Week Away' so it's a good thing for me because I don't have to cook for him all week (I get tempted) and he can't interrupt my exercise either! So it should be a good week.

I went to a party on Friday and I was so good, didn't eat a thing and onlyhad a club soda.

Saturday I went to a dinner at the golf club and also, I was very good. even having a fruit plate for dessert when everyone else at the table had apple cobbler with cinnamon ice cream and again I only had a club soda.

I made my step bench thing higher, so my cardio has gotten much tougher, it's about 3.5 inches higher to step now and it makes a huge difference. Before I was doing an hour of stepping and now I am dying after 30 minutes. I can only make it to 45/50 minutes max, but I am so tired and sweaty so I think it's a better workout.

Hope everyone has a good week this week. Eat healthy, try to get out for a walk, stay positive and lost those inches!

Where did you find the avatar. I love it. I can't find anything good. The one I am useing now someone made for me a few years ago.

First I need to catch up on messages from the old thread.

Shy, thanks for being worried about me as well as my husband. I know several of my friends are too. It's nice to know that someone is thinking about me.

Cindy, I'll have to try those healthy grain bagels if I can find them.

Jenne, I've had salmon a few times while on Alli, and I've had no problems with TE's.

Kobe, I still don't understand the need to weigh so little. It just doesn't make sense to me when a person is at a healthy weight that they want to get into an unhealthy weight column. Alli put those guidelines up for a reason. I pray that things will work well for you, and that God will keep you in the palm of his hand. How old are you by the way?

Sue, congrats on the 5 pounds!!

New thread now -
Bobbigene, I treat myself to DQ sometimes too.

Shy, I log in all of my foods at ***********, (same place got 2 mentioned and mine gets stars!!), and it shows a pie graph comparing the amounts of fat, carbs, and proteins you have eaten and another graph of what you should have eaten. It helps keep me on track many days. 21 grams of fat a day seems a bit low for a healthy diet. At least it does to me. For the Alli to work correctly, you need to get in the fat that they recommend or close to it. I don't know many who eat lots of fats with their breakfasts.

got2gethealthy, I'm also at the 1800 cal. limit. How tall are you? I am 5'8". I wonder if I should move down for a faster loss, or just stay where I am for slow and steady?

Thin, Ireland sounds great! Why didn't he invite all of us?? Good for you on your workouts! I remember those days!!

Busy day today. Hubby goes to one of the specialists this morning. We're hoping that he can reduce the amount of oxygen that he's using and that he can go off of some of the diuretics since his fluid buildup is gone. He was up to 240 at the hospital. He usually weighs 185-190. Yesterday he was 166! He's 6'3", so that's a bit low. This afternoon we go to a health care center down the street from us for a physical therapy evaluation. He is so weak, so I know he won't be able to do much in the beginning. He has been getting out and walking some pulling his oxygen tank behind him.

I'm going to another football game on Sat. and taking our nephew with me. I talked to our son last night. He was supposed to work Sat. night, but he switched to Friday night. As of right now, he is planning to come home after the game on Sat. and surprise Bob! He's talked to him on the phone a few times, but it will be 2 weeks this weekend since he has seen him, so he thought it would be a nice surprise for him. Now I need to keep my mouth shut!! lol

Good for you on your workouts! I remember those days!!

Tammy, you don't exercise?

10-02-2007, 09:40 AM
Thin, yes I exercise, but nothing like I used to. Now it's just basically walking and water aerobics because of the arthritis and fibromyalgia. I used to do step aerobics at the Y 4 days a week for several years plus used the nautilus equipment on the other days. I didn't start having major problems with doing things until 10 years ago. I was pretty toned for a fat gal!!

Walking is something I do not do enough of, it's hard on my feet - I have diabetes and my feet blister very easily and ache. The only real walking I do it on my once a week trip to the mall. The Mall is worth blisters!

10-02-2007, 10:18 AM
Bobbi, you made me tired just reading about that yard work. 'Course, you also made me feel guilty. My morning glories are looking badddddd, but they're still blooming so I hate to do anything with them. Also, I mixed the m.g. with some moon flowers and the moon flowers are going great guns. Decisions, decisions. heheheheh Maybe this weekend.

Well, today's my official weigh-in. Down that normal 1 pound. Hope how soon the whoosh faerie pays me a visit. But, that did put me at my short term goal, so I got to move that down. That felt good.

Loving the cooler weather here. Puppy and I are walking twice as much now, so that's got to be a good thing.

Here's some words to live (or chuckle) by:
THE 50-50-90 RULE: .... Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

Have a great day, folks.

Good morning! I'm stiff from working out in the yard yesterday, got to do more today. I'll wait until later in the week to work on the fence, maybe put it off until next week. I wasn't all that great with my eating yesterday. A friend of mine called me and said to clean up and meet her for dinner - at a pizza place. So I bought my stuff at that exciting store Wal-Mart and had pizza. It's been at least 8 months since I've had a piece of pizza and I made up for it. Back on the wagon today! And back outside to do some more yard work.

Good morning all,

Well, losing weight is still a struggle. I wonder if it will always be for me. But, I know from experience that nothing in my life has ever come easy. It's comforting in it's own way; I know how good I'll feel when I accomplish it.

Decapulet...weight loss has always been a challenge for me too. hardest part is being ok with a pound loss;) bobbigene...i was hoping you wouldnt get sore from the yard work. but those muscles are getting stronger because of it. beck..good weight loss for the week. Tammy...good prayers and wishes for your strenght. sounds like you and your husband still have a long road to go. that site i mentioned is huge ! not as easy to navigate as this one and the message boards are a jumbled mess. but there is good info there..good day all...sue

What we are doing isn't a diet it is a life change. Nothing wrong with a piece of pizza here and there. For heavens sakes don't beat yourself up ENJOY. Think back when it would have been 6 pieces of pizza. I love yard work. Why you might ask. First, if I don't feel like doing, it I can make the kids do it lol. Second, the yard looks so nice when it is all done. I can sit on the porch and enjoy the view and know it doesn't have to be done again for awhile. I love the yard in the early winter. No snow on the ground yet and it looks great lol. We tore out all the flowers a couple of years ago and started doing a bit of landscaping. Only have about an acre and a half here and probably half and acre ( behind our fenced in yard ) I leave to trees and brush and brambles and high grass, good for the wild life. Isn't that much to take care of. The fence is a pain in the bum to keep weeded. Have you found any secrets to make it easier? We also had to take out a ton of trees because the neighbor got an ant problem in his trees and never took care of it so it spread to ours. That I was not happy about. Probably lost 3/4 of the trees in my front and back yard because of it.

Congrats on the loss.

I am so sorry to hear about the problems you have with your feet. Have you found something else to do to help replace some of the walking you can't do? A few years ago I frayed that thing in the bottom of the foot that goes from the heal to the ball of the foot. Did this to both feet. Every time it gets better it gets worse again and the darn things are wrapped for weeks and weeks. There are times I can't do much on my feet. Any suggestions you have for exercises that I don't have to beat my feet up would be appreciated. I do my walking video everyday but even after that my feet hurt to walk on sometimes. My foot doc said my feet are just to darn little, I swear that is what he said, and that they have just taken a beating over almost 46 years of being used. I asked was it the weight and he said, well while the extra weight isn't helping, it really isn't the weight. He talked about operating on them but said, if a persons feet are going to do this it just might happen again. He really doesn't want to operate until they get much worse. Just told me to stay off of them. No running or long walks, no beating them up with hard exercises.

I do worry a bit that I am not taking enough fat in. It was the one thing, the only thing I really worried about when I started taking this journey we are all on. To lower the fat. My cholesterol was checked and it is down from 275 to 205. I was real glad to see that. Heart problems don't walk in my family. They run ramped. I am going to keep track of everything I eat this week. Wow isn't fitday great for that. Then will let you all know what I am doing. I love to hear from all of you and really listen to what you have to say. Maybe you all can tell me to up this or that. The doc is the one that lowered my calorie intake from the 1600 Alli said to 1400. She said no wonder you can't get enough food in that is just to high for you. She said about 20 grams of fat is a low fat diet. She didn't have a problem with that BUT as I started getting closer to my weight goal she wanted me to start adding more fat to my diet and let my body get use to it.

What does she know lol the woman is about 5 foot 8 and can't weigh over 115lbs. She looks like a stick. My gosh she bent over the other day to pick something up she dropped and you could see her hip bones sticking out of her pants. Her shoulder blades and colar bones were sticking out of her shirt. It looked really nasty. Think Angelina Joline. She said she has always been this thin and does all kinds of stuff to try to gain weight. She isn't real encourageing, but then, she has no concept of being over weight either. Her and I had a long talk last time I had an appointment, not the last weigh in. I think she has seen the light a little bit about how people over weight feel and the encouragement they need from their doctor. All she would ever say was you eat less you lose weight that is it. No encouragement. Ya, like we didn't all already know that lol. After the talk she really started to encourage me more than ever. Maybe this will help her talk to other people who need to lose weight. If it were really that easy for everyone, eat less lose weight, no one would be over weight.

Hubby does sound like he is getting down there a bit in weight but what do I know. I like kegs instead of six packs lol. Hubby is about 5 foot 11 and I happen to like him at about 240 lol. He is aslo very large built so that isn't as big as it sounds. We looked at a chart that said 168 to 198. I looked at the doc and said is that right. He said not for him, his bones weigh that much lol he is a big man. Probably 205 would be healthy.

Shhhh don't give away the surprise :)

I like the idea of the Alli to get rid of some of the fat. Maybe I could kick up some of the fat so I can eat more ( different ) things and then take the Alli? What do you all think?

10-02-2007, 12:21 PM

Hi all -- boy I have a lot of reading back to do!!!

I lost 3 lbs. last week before starting the pills. I took them for the first time on Monday...and surprisingly, I have not been hungry. Is that just mental???

My goal calorie intake was 1800. I can NOT eat that much anymore! It must be me, right? Or do the pills suppress the appetite too? I've been struggling to get to 1300. Maybe my body is just adjusting? I am around 30-35 g. fat per day and am logging it all in another site --- (anyone else a member that I can friend?).

I am having some gas - but I think that's less about the pills and all about the fruits and veggies I am eating.

So, I guess this long post is to say so far so good. Now I am going to go back and read this thread!

10-02-2007, 10:52 PM
Sue, I did Curves several years ago. I lost weight and I toned up when I went. Give it a try! I stopped going after hubby was in a car accident. I wanted to get started back but once I was diagnosed with the arthritis and fibromyalgia, I knew that I wouldn't be able to do the program. The Y works out better for me because of the pool.

Shy, I agree about the pizza. My life isn't going to be spent not eating anything that is "bad" for me. If I want it, I'll have it. Just not as much and not as often. Congrats on the cholesterol!!!!! Way to go!!!!

LOL to got2gethealthy! I didn't even notice the spelling!!!!

Jenne, there are times that I don't feel hungry either! I know it isn't supposed to do that, but it sure seems like it does. I think we are logging in to the same place to keep track of things. I usually end up with 1500+, and I'm supposed to be 1800 according to Alli. Some days I end up at 1800, but that isn't an every day thing. I agree about the gas being from the fruits and vegies.

My hubby is officially off of the oxygen! He feels like a new man getting off of that. He went for PT this afternoon. He was tired when he finished, and he is a little sore now. He goes again on Thursday. We meet with the liver specialist on Thursday morning.

Keep doing what works best ladies!!!

Here is a nice letter to your husband.

I don't want you to tire yourself out. Here is a list of about 5,654 things that need to be done that I can never find the time to do.

1. Take toilet seat off and clean.

None of these things will tire you out but they will make you feel better because you will be keeping active and not sitting around the house.

Just thinking of you sweetheart

Talk to your doctor she dropped me from the recommended 1600 to 1400. I was never able to get 1600 in a day. I have seen other people post the same thing.

I either don't eat enough fat in one meal to take the Alli or to darn much. Today each of the 6 meals I ate were under 6 grams except when I ate the pot roast-carrots-potatoes-gravy that meal was 28. Sigh just can't seem to get it right lol. Total fat for the day 35 grams. Was a REAL high fat day for me. Last 14 days have averaged 20 to 23 grams a day. But that is ok. I don't eat pot roast but about one time a month.

I paid for this darn stuff want to use it lol. Do you think it would be ok to take it with a meal that has under 6 or 7 grams of fat?

10-03-2007, 12:27 AM
shy..try eating the higher fat versions that you are eating now. i switched from non fat yoghert and cottage cheese to regular, but now going to low fat dairy since calories are lower now. a little mayo or peanut butter with sandwiches work too. i think you are struggling with the fat portion of alli. i know it was hard for me because i always dieted low fat to begin with maybe try easing up alittle on that thinking. alli is helping me stay away from high fat junk no one needs and that stuff got me where i am today  jenne...gas is the only side effect i got ( sleeping on couch so i dont wake up hubby !! lol) but hunger isnt a problem for me either..i give that to alli. i am really craving chocolate cake so tomarrow i am going to the store and buy one from weight watchers may eat them both, no promises !!

You are so right. 5 months ago just about today lol. When I decided it was time, and the doc said I could, to lose weight. Fat content is what I worried about nothing else. Well I have that beat lol. Now I need to raise that fat, which will mean I can eat different things that I haven't been eating. I do use mayo when I have sandwiches, I like yogurt and dont eat low fat. I don't eat anything " low fat " that I know of except salad dressings. Just seems I have tailored what I eat to the lower fat foods. Today I had pot roast and carrots and potatoes and this was made in gravy. Problem was the meal was to high in fat to use the Alli. Sighhhhhh

10-03-2007, 06:01 AM
Shy, I really like that letter!! I take an Alli if a meal is over 5 grams of fat. Since you are eating 6 mini-meals, I would definitely take it if one is over 5, but don't take more than 3 a day. As for the pot roast meal, I would have taken one for sure with that one even though it was high. The alli would have helped to get rid of some of that fat. I've even changed my salad dressings so I'm getting more fat. Balanced is the key here.

10-03-2007, 08:45 AM
Shy-- I agree. I take it regardless though. Breakfast is only 4 grams most days so I take it with my lowfat cottage cheese or whatever has the most fat. Add a tablespoon of peanut butter or something maybe to some meals?

Are we not allowed to mention the site that we log into? I find that odd -- it's not a competitor, per se. It does something different...anyway.

Tammy--lol! My wife would appreciate my sleeping on the couch I think, some nights! :)

Yesterday was more working outside. I trimmed the rest of the hedges and pulled more weeds. The garbage men are going to hate me this week - 4 big lawn & leaf bags, two case of copy paper size boxes, a bucket that held 35 pounds of kitty litter a tall kitchen bag and a largish branch off a tree are all going to be put out for them to pick up on Thursday. I'm working inside today where it's cool!

Thanks for the encouragement from all of you. I was better yesterday with my eating. Didn't go the gorge myself on junk food route! Today I'll try some soup and veggies, low fat waffles for breakfast.

Well, I'm off to pay some bills and read the paper before getting down to business and cleaning the house. I'll try to check in later.

10-03-2007, 12:28 PM
My Goodness, its so nice to see all these posts!!:D

Everyone is doing very well!!

This week had been going really well. The excessive hunger (or desire) I had Sunday was gone the next day and I've felt very satisfied all week. I don't think I've made my targets all week. I've been lower, but as long as I don't do that too many days in a row, I think its fine. I kinda think there is something to be gained from calorie cycling so if it keeps my body from getting used to one level, I think its a good thing. I never go over my targets, just most of the time I'm under, but I make sure I reach them a couple of days a week at least.

Shy- I would add a little fat in maybe 2 meals a day, up to maybe 10 grams in those meals. That way you could take the Alli, but not throw your daily totals off too much. This will give you a greater variety of foods and add to a feeling of satisfaction. It's very easy to add 4-5 grams of fat to meal. Eggs have 4-5 grams and are full of good healthy things, peanut butter was mentioned..a tablespoon on a piece of toast or bagel adds 8 grams (depending on the brand), a slice of bread with a tsp butter or 1/2 T reduced calorie marg. will do it. Avocado is good healthy source of healthy fats.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

I will try that. All ready feel satisfied, I am generally never hungry. Did think I might be able to add foods to my diet that I haven't been eating. Or like someone else said, use the full fat products instead of the low fat products. Peanut butter is so nasty I wouldn't feed that stuff to my husbands ex lol.

Wasn't sure about the pop roast because the fat content was so high. The day still ended up only being 35 grams of fat.

Thanks all of you. When I have the pot roast meal ( even thou it is way over the Alli limit ) ( also remember I have added everything to the pot roast count that is made in the crock pot with the roast. Roast, carrots, gravey, potatoes, ) 25 grams fat and when I have the salmon 11 grams fat. I will take the Alli with those meals. There are a couple of the lean cuisines that are over 5 grams of fat that I love. Will take it when I eat those meals also. Don't we need a certain amount of fat in our diet? Wonder how many grams a day that is.

10-03-2007, 12:58 PM
Shy- have you tried the Smart Ones dinners? Most of those seem to range around 8 grams. Yes, a certain amount of fats are required for good health. I'm not sure of the exact number, but I'm thinking 30 grams. If I were eating the pot roast meal at 25 grams and taking Alli, I would alter my serving. Either have 1/5 less to bring it down to 20, or eat a few bites less meat, but another potato and carrot, but of course, I'm afraid of TE's:^: I LOVE Zatarans red beans and rice, they have a frozen version with sausage added. The meal is 510 calories and 20 grams fat. When I eat it, I take out 3-5 slices of the sausage (its kielbasa) and throw it out before I sit down to eat. That way it lowers the fat grams to at least my 19 target., probably a bit lower.

Let us know how it goes.

Cindy T

10-03-2007, 01:10 PM
OK, now I'm curious....How many of you have families you cook dinner for daily? Do you make separate food for yourself, alter the whole meal??

I cook dinner most nights and I'm cooking for hubby, 3 young boys, and every other week my 19 y/o son (who is gone working on an offshore oil rig every other week) and his girlfiend who seems to think she lives here when he's home. Most nights my daughter, her hubby and 2 babies are here for dinner as well (she doesn't cook and is 8 months pregnant).

Most of the time, I'm cooking a meat, a starch, a vegetable and sometimes salad. I either cook lean meat varieties or I eat about 2 oz of the higher fat cuts of meats. The starch...I've gotten very good and changing some of the foods that I've always cooked for them into lower fat versions and no one ever notices. When I make the packaged foods like Au Graten Potatoes or Rice A Roni, I sub reduced fat margarine and use about 1/2 as much. If I'm making something like potato salad, I separate a lil out before adding mayo and make mine with reduced fat mayo. I have recently started experamenting with grilling vegatables and find I really like them like that and feel like I'm eating something special.

What are you all doing to make this work??

Oh those are just nasty lol So are the WW dinners.

I cook a full dinner every night. Weekends cook full 3 meals. I eat what they eat if it is one of my favorites watching portion sizes. Use salad plate instead of lunch plate, lunch plate instead of dinner plate. If what they are haveing is something I can take or leave, usually 3 dinners a week, I eat lean cusines.

I took an Alli about an hour ago. Made myself a nice large cappuccino :) 6 grams of fat.

10-03-2007, 04:11 PM
Hi Tayler,
I'm cooking for hubby (otherwise known as "Hey You") and myself.

We do a lot of grilling (lean meats, veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, etc) with lite Italian dressing for seasoning) and have switched to healthier versions of foods we've always had. IE:
Instead of loading a pot of beans with ham or bacon, we now throw in some carrots or spinach.
Instead of making the pan of biscuits, we toast a wheat bagel.
I make a stuffed meatloaf, baked on a draining rack to loose the grease, stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes, chopped spinach and a touch of feta cheese for flavor. Still has a great flavor, but we're getting some veggies. I take a smaller portion, because of the fat in the meat and cheese.
We have raw or steamed veggies with almost every meal, now. That's different for us.
And when we go out to eat, I ask for a "to go" box when I get my meal. I take part of it off my plate, before I take the first bite.
Instead of buying the pan of iced brownies, I'm using the No Pudge brownie mix and watching the serving size.
All of these things are new to me, but they seem to be things I can live with, and for me, that's the secret. So far, so good.

10-03-2007, 04:59 PM
Oh Shy- I like them best, lol.

Beck- I'll have to try the italian dressing on the veggies. I like pinto beans cooked in just salted water (which is also a first). I do the same thing when eating out:)

I agree, making it something we can live with is the key. The biggest changes I've made are in portion sizes and snack choices. I've also started eating breakfast. I'm still not eating it within an hour of waking, but I'm working on it. I used to rarely eat fruit. I was always saving it for the kids. Now I just have to buy it more often:dizzy:

Today for breakfast: light n fit yogurt and a mini bagel with light cream cheese

Lunch: roast beef sandwich made with real mayo, deli sellects roast beef on a healthy grains bagel with 1 oz baked doritos and 1/2 C fresh honeydew

no snacks yet.

i for one dont cook ! my family are extremely picky eaters and i gave up cooking for the ingrates when the boys got to high school. that decision freed my soul;) i eat mostly frozen dinners adding vegtables and a salad. i know they are high in sodium so only eat one a day. i didnt eat breakfast today and now at 9:00 pm i am starving ! my day was really stressful so that may be it too. low fat yogurt and tea then bed. later alli -gators. sue

I found something so yummy today I just have to tell you. First time I have tried it.

Lean cuisine Glazed chicken
Roasted chicken tenderloins with mushrooms, rice pilaf and green beans.

Oh my gosh was it good. Added some green beans since there wasn't really a serving in the meal and some cottage cheese. Wow what a great dinner.

355 in calories all together
9 grams of fat

My gosh, what more could you want :)

Cindy, I don't cook different meals for my hubby and I, but I just adjust what I eat from it. Most of the time I eat more vegies than he does, and I usually have a salad with every (or most) meals.

I like most of the Smart Ones dinners that I've tried. Also Healthy Choice. Very convenient to have on hand.

Yesterday I had one of those days where I ate a gazillion calories! Just couldn't stop eating. Can't do that again!!!

I cook for my wife and I and we eat the same. Last night she wanted pizza -- so, I went to our Whole Foods Market and got her the pizza she craved (she still can't drive!!!) and I got myself a salad and Minestrone soup. I was sooooo proud of myself for getting that instead of the pizza I REALLY wanted. But until I can eat only ONE slice and be satisfied with it, I am staying away from my trigger foods.

We're going to the beach this weekend and I am a bit worried as I am not a huge self-control person. But my alli will be with me so I will be armed and ready. I don't want to spend the weekend in the hotel bathroom!

Oh, at Whole Foods I found these great meals: Moosehead Kitchen I believe is what they are. They have a Moroccan Stew and a Pasta Fagioli (beans and veggies) that was YUMMY! That's what's on my docket for lunch today! With a salad...

Nice going on the pizza choice if you can't just have 1 or two slices

Glad to see I am not alone. I do the same thing.

My family learned many a moon ago. This is not Denny's. There isn't a menu. You will eat what I fix or you will go hungry. lol

g2g: that really made me laugh. my family thinks I run a diner, too.

jenne - i've been meaning to try whole foods for a while. are they terribly expensive?

hi cats and gators!

staying on plan today!

I cook for my rail thin husband, who loves fattening foods. It's hard sometimes, I'm having my grilled veggies and chicken breast and he's having rolls with butter, fatty lamb chops with mashed & gravy, veggies with hollandaise and a cheese plate as an appetizer. He snacks on chips and dips in the evening, he puts butter on everything. He is a size 30 waist and has the butt of an 18 year old.

I also cook for my 13 year old who lives on pasta but won't eat the healthy wholewheat variety that I eat.

Sue- congrats on the "freed soul":D Sometimes motherhood can feel like a thankless job. Hope you evening was less stressful than your day.

Shy- you dinner sounds good! Did you take your Alli??:)

Tammy- Sunday was my day for eating. I just went with it, but with healthy, low fat foods. What a change. Since then I've felt very satisfied. I guess our bodies just insist on more food once in a while.

Jenne- Great choices!! Have a GREAT time at the beach:carrot:

Dcapulet- No diner here either ;)

Thingirl- my husband is rail thin as well. He also has a 30 inch waist and weighs 130 on a high day:D He is not a big eater though and food just isn't real important to him. But he does eat whatever he wants with no reguard to how healthy it is. I simply cook for too many people too cook to order. If they don't like something we're having, they better just eat more of the thing they do like;)

Great Days to ALL!!

I have taken the Alli twice so far. I am having a terrible time. Living in the bathroom. Sure glad it is newly remodeled at least I can enjoy looking at the room.

10-04-2007, 02:18 PM
Maybe your system needed a little cleaning out:D

Sure isn't because there was to much fat in my system. I am only averageing about 20 to 30 grams of fat a day. My system is pretty clean. I know I had tummy cramps and can't stay out of the room next to the den lol.

10-04-2007, 06:37 PM
When I first started taking them I remember having cramps and frequent trips too. It did pass in few days though.

Been awhile. Never made me sick before lol. I and that bathroom are best friends, No one is allowed to use it but me. I need it to be empty when I need it lol. I go in and say hi to the wallpaper at least 10 times a day lol. I do have to admit before I dropped all this fat out of my diet. I said hi to the wallpaper at least 25 times a day.

DC --

I don't find it all that more pricey. And for the level and quality of food it is, it's worth it! I'd rather pay $3 for one serving of fruit that's fresh and already cut up for me because it means I can grab it and go and have a good breakfast rather than being lazy, not cutting my whole fruit and having it go bad.

The fish is the same price at Whole Foods as it is anywhere else. So, I love it!

10-04-2007, 11:36 PM
Am I not doing something right because I've gone twice a day, have had some gas, but haven't been in the bathroom all that much...???

10-05-2007, 10:31 AM
Good morning all. Sounds like everyone has been busy. I went to the DDS yesterday for some work and after the Novocaine wore off it hurt like ****.

Must have gotten bitten by something while I was doing yard work earlier in the week because I have a **** of a rash. Not poison ivy, not particularly itchy. I think maybe I brushed up against an asp caterpillar, but it didn't' hurt when I did it. Maybe it's just some mysterious allergic reaction and I'll have to wear long sleeves when I do yard work. My mother had to do that because she was so sensitive to lots of plant saps. Today I think I'll power wash the deck. At least I can't do too much damage to myself doing that - I hope!

10-05-2007, 10:36 AM
NEVER say that lol. As soon as I say well how on earth could I hurt myself doing this or that. I lose an arm or leg, an eye pops out and I have to go hunting for it or I BREAK A NAIL. lol Maybe put some calamine lotion on the rash.

I called the doc about the problems. She said because I am still not quite over being sick everything could be effecting the tummy. We know how my tummy can be. The cramps are gone so if I want to take the Alli go ahead. She thought maybe I should hold off for another week or so and let the body get over this lung thing I have going on. The antibiotics could be causing the problem. Along with the ibs. Everything effects the ibs it seems lol.

10-05-2007, 11:19 AM
morning allli cats:hug: are doing it right..not having to "go" alot means you are not getting T.E.s . i love whole foods too. that and trader joes and i am in heaven. i spend so much time there reading labels and basking in the atmosphere, no one will go shopping with me when i go there !bobbigene...Stop !! you are making me exhasted...cant clean my own place because i am so tired from reading what you are doing:devil: i bet you have a good weight loss this week too ! sue

You are doing everything right. I just have ibs bad and everything tends to effect how much I go.

Today is a great day, as I was saying in another thread. Housework is done and I am starting laundry. Everything will be done before I go to bed. We leave in the morning for the weekend. Not even going to put up with the kids not getting things done. I got the windows done yesterday so don't have that to do today. Thank heavens that is done for awhile. I CAN NOT leave my house unless everything is done just how I want it.

Jenne, I have never heard of the Moosehead Kitchen foods, but we live out in the sticks. Are they very expensive? I just find that answer in another post! Hubby just said he'd like pizza for supper. I think we're going to order a small one with lots of vegies on my part. I'm sure I'll be taking an Alli after I eat. As for being in the bathroom, I really didn't and still don't have a problem with it. I have only had once when I'd say it was a TE, and it was nothing major.

Bobbigene, I am exhausted from reading your posts!! lol Good for you for having the strength and energy to do things.

Shy, twice and you were in the bathroom? Wow! Have a great weekend!

Sue, I think there is a Trader Joe's about an hour from here. There is a book store near there, so maybe I could convince someone to go with me.

I'm going to a football game where my son goes to college. My nephew is going along to use hubby's ticket. Hubby doesn't know it, but our son switched his work schedule, and he'll be home tomorrow night. He'll have to go back on Sunday, but it will do both of them good. They've talked on the phone, but haven't seen each other since the weekend Bob came home from the hospital.

I need a nap!

lolololol I am in the bathroom all the time, average amount 15 to 25 times a day, I told you I have ibs real bad lol you thought I was kidding.

My husbands joke. A radio station calls. " Sir, if you can tell us where your wife is at this very moment. You will win one million dollars. " " She is either going to or comeing from a bathroom. " Sir you are correct, you have won ONE MILLION DOLLARS. "

That is why i dropped so much of the fat out of my diet now down to 10 to 15 times lol. It was the cramps that worried me. Doc said she doesn't think it was the " Alli " she thinks combined with the ibs, the antibiotic and that I am still not 100% well, the Alli was just to much for my system.

10-08-2007, 06:39 AM
Shy, I love what your husband said about the radio contest!! I hope you had a nice, relaxing weekend.

I'd like to just go away for a couple of days, but I don't think hubby is up to it yet. We went to church yesterday morning, and we had to leave before the service was over. I wondered if it might be too much for him. Even the pastor asked me if I thought he should be there, and I told him that he wanted to be there. Well, maybe we should have waited another week or two. The pastor is coming up here on Thursday to visit, so that will be nice.

Busy week this week. I have chiro appts, water aerobics, volunteering 3 mornings for a local Christian radio station for their shareathon, hubby's PT appts.

Good Monday morning! I had a nice relaxing weekend, went to a friend's beach house. We weren't alli friendly in what we ate, but I made sure to not eat a whole lot of it. And I'll admit, I didn't take any alli Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Going to the grocery store this morning and have lots of sensible things on my shopping list. Still on vacation this week and if the rain holds off, I will be working on the back fence. Hope everyone is well and making progress!

The world isn't Alli friendly lol. You did a great job making choices for yourself.

We had a great weekend doing nothing really. A lot of walking around and watching the dancing and just hanging out. Ok, we are boring people. Sitting at the camp grounds and watching the river roll by is fun to us. Make that hubby of yours take it easy and not push things to fast. Sometimes we just have to tell them what to do, of course we know we always know better lol.

We just couldn't get connection on the lappy for some reason so I couldn't check in lol. I really missed everyone. The hubby knows who everyone is. He was asking how is Tammy's husband doing. How is E's mom doing. His mom said heck, I didn't know you two knew so many people. We are very shy people and kind of live in our own little world. He said, oh these are her on line friends and you all don't understand. They are NOT " on line " friends to her. These are her friends and she needs them, cares about them, and know about them. So do I. Ok, yes he is wonderful lol. He is what use to be called a " nice guy" and that meant something good.

10-08-2007, 03:07 PM
Shy- it sounds like you all had a great time! Watching the river sounds great to me:) It also sounds like your husband is a great guy. It is really nice to have someone that understands and supports you:hug:

Bobbie-sounds like you had a great time also:)

Tammy- You do have a busy week:dizzy: Hope your hubby feels better very soon!

Well, Saturday was hubbys birthday and we ended going to the casino, getting a free room and playing bingo on Sunday. We had a nice time, didn't win, but its nice to get away. Saturday night we went to the buffet. I had forgot my Alli in the room, so I guess I thought that gave me liscense to make some bad choices:( I had a little serving of prime rib, salad with real ranch, a baked potato with cheese, sour cream and bacon AND some cream potato soup. On a good note, I managed to stay away from the dessert table: I was miserably full and realised how awful it made me feel. It wasn't quite as bad as it sounds. The prime rib was about 4 oz, I didn't eat the whole potato or the salad and the soup was a half bowl, but still bad.

Later that night I had some rumbling in my belly and some other "unpleasant" side effects, but no "leakage" :o Thank goodness, lol. The next morning I ordered oatmeal as pennance. It was so runny I couldn't eat it, but I dutifully just did without. I was determined not to turn this into a weekend of bad choices. Later I had a grilled chick sand and some fresh fruit and finished the day off well.

Apparently the damage was minimal as this morning I'm down to 243.5, down a half pound.

Great days to all!!
