Okay, okay. It's more like, "Good middle of the night, Girls!". WHAT am I doing up this late?! :yikes: Well, I just could not sleep. I've got a few books to read, but I'm afraid I'll get into them and just not sleep at all tonight. I think I'll just ebay around and see if anyone's got any nice yarn for sale. Well, have a great morning when we get there and I'm sure I'll need someone to pass the coffee! :coffee:

Aww Kim. *hug* Go to sleep! I have an excuse- I'm a college student :P But I have a big cup of Sleepytime and my melatonin ready to go!
Had a kind of sad night. My friends and I had a psuedo-potluck in that about 3 people bought all the foods and them plus myself and 2 others prepared it while everyone else brought drinks, utensils, etc. All in all there were about 15 people. However, despite REALLY trying to get gluten free food, they managed not to read a single package! The taco pie (which would have been VERY SB friendly and looked so good!) was built on flour tortillas while I was out of the room, the stirfry had copious amounts of soy sauce, and the french onion soup had flour with the onions! In the end, all I could eat was some dry salad, and that's AFTER I had to dive and save it from a friend tossing croutons in the whole bowl. Tragic!
On the flip side, I definitely cut back on a ton of unneeded calories there! However, I got back to my dorm room starving and made a 2nd dinner that I really didn't need (but my tummy was grumbling!).
Anyone else actually looking forward to the Yom Kippur fast? I'm so ready!

Kim did you find any good yarn? I'm craving a yarn shop expedition!!
I'm up early can't really breathe UGH
Allie I find that a lot with friends/well meaning acquaintances I really watch my sugars Which renders people to make me low fat stuff (that are made with full sugar Jello No Lie!) and say I made it for you. YOu kinda just smile say thanks and toss it while no ones looking
OK Off to pick Ruth's Brain for some Culinary Advice and then To bed perchance to sleep ;)

Kim: hope your ebay trip was successful!
Allie: way to go on resisting that pot luck fiasco!
Kim: what wonderful advice did you get from Ruth? Share please if recipes are involved!
Me: I was looking forward to the weekend and hoping not much work would be involved so I could putter in the garden and just relax a bit. As of last night's news, that "thing in the gulf" may well be headed our way. It won't have a great effect here since we are inland a bit, but may make it a windy, rainy nasty weekend of soggy yard clean up after it's over. yuk. We still have "iffy" branches very high up in pine trees since K and hoping none decide to come down and land on anything that could cause damage. Guess I'll also have to get my classroom ready by unplugging/covering computers. sigh.

Wow, we sure got an early start-up this morning!
Thanks, Kim, for getting us started, and I hope you found some nice yarn and got some sleep! :)
charolastra, that's a shame about your potluck, but it's a good thing you discovered the errors before you ate anything!
Kier, I hope you finally are getting some sleep, too!
Today is the start of a very busy weekend for me. Monica and Carley are coming out this afternoon to spend the weekend. Tomorrow we're going out to breakfast before taking Carley and Amber to see Thomas the Train. Afterwards, we're going shopping at the outlets. (With the kids!) And I was just informed by my sister-in-law that the family has planned a rib BBQ here on Sunday. I don't mind, we had talked about it before, but I just wish I'd had a bit more warning!
So how's everyone elsce's weekend shaping up?

Good grief! A whole flock of Early Chicks! I thought I heard a lot of cackling in here.
Kim, great idea to start us up. I hate it when I can't sleep and know what you mean about starting to read.
Char, good work on avoiding all the bad stuff. Did you take something edible for yourself? I can't imagine looking forward to the Yom Kippur fast but certainly do need a personal Day of Atonement. Maybe the sunset will be early.
Cat, I've been watching the "thing" in the Gulf too and thinking of you and my other pals down there. I hope it's not too bad for you.
Cottage, I adore ribs - dammit! There really is no way they are OK on South Beach but enjoy them for me.
I am off to town to pick up my glasses this morning and do a bit of shopping. I really need a light for my sewing table as I think my eyes may be getting old on me! I need to sew perfect 1/4 inch seams for this quilting. Of course, having my real glasses would help!
Lucy is hollering for more food or attention - she is getting spoiled! See y'all later.

Good Friday Morning to all!
Kim Hope you found some good bargins on yarn. I certainly don't need any at the moment as it looks like I will be finishing both mine and my daughter project!
Alllie What a bummer for you food wise. Hopefully you had a good time with your friends anyway, that is what is important.
Cat Here hoping for a quiet weekend for you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Cottage Have fun this weekend, sure sounds like you are going to be busy!
Ruth You really are an insperation to me! You spoil Lucy all you want, she deserves it (except for the glasses part!).
Keir and everyone else yet to check in Have a great day, whatever you have planned!
Me I'm in a funk today. Yesterday was payday, and everylast penny is going towards bills  couple that with PMS and I am just not a happy camper! Yes I am having a pity party, the only clothes in the house that actually fit me are my daughters, I WANT MY OWN DAMNIT! I know, I know, what a problem to have but still! I'm going to just throw myself into work today and hope it goes fast and bring on the weekend!

Morning chicks,
What a bunch of early birds! I tried to get up early, but ended up going back to sleep. I needed it though, i'm feeling pretty rested now. And looking forward to a nice, boring, stay-at-home day. We'll see!
I sneak peeked at the scale, and things are looking good for tomorrow's official weigh-in. Let's see if I can not screw it up today! If I have all the stuff, I think we'll do make-your-own pita pizzas tonight. The kids are off school today, boo! Stupid Fair Day, hope they're not expecting to go to the fair, 'cause I'm not planning it!
Kim, I'm an old e-Bay member, almost from the beginning. I love eBay! I considered buying some stock when they first went public about 10 years ago, but didn't. Am I an idiot or what? I could be retired now...
charolastra, what a bummer. Could you scrape the taco bake off the tortillas and eat it? You are a stronger woman than I!
Cat, hope you get a nice weekend to putter. Puttering is one of my favorite things to do, and I just don't get to do enough of it!
Kier, I had to toss a piece of birthday cake recently, right in front of my hostess. I tried to be discreet, but there's no way I was going to eat more than a bite to be polite. I have worked too hard!
Enjoy this Fabulous Friday chicks!

oh my word, ya'll are some morning people. I was up until 3 am deploying some servers for our dev group...and am groggy this morning. I like my caffeine chilled so I have been sucking down the diet coke.
on the bright side, the weather has been fantastic this week - cool and cloudy. and i hopped on the scale this morning (im done my first successful 2 week run of P1) and i had dropped another 6 pds. so yay me! :carrot:
how did most of you chickies handle your transition to PH2? what were your favorite foods to eat...? i am so looking forward to eating some fruit again...
i hope everyone has a wonderful friday...

OK - I feel like I'm late for the party!
My morning is so full of meetings today - then the same for this afternoon. I'm glad they are virtual meetings, so all I have to do is call in, but still... it's a pain to sit there with the head phones on listening to 2 or 3 people say the same thing in 3 or 4 different meetings. I wish they would get together, and just send out an email and save me from hours of trying to stay awake! Oh well.
My office mate just brought me some green tomato stuff - I really don't know what it is, it's Indian and she says to just serve it over hot rice. So, I think I'll make a pot of brown rice when I get home and try it. Or maybe tomorrow. I don't want to plan on it for dinner, because if we don't like it, I don't want to have to figure out dinner. Maybe lunch tomorrow.....
I'm off to get another cup of coffee - or 2 - to hold me over for the next few horrible hours of meetings.
Hope everyone has a great OP day!

Ugh! That system out in the Gulf is making my head hurt. My head feels like it's trying to implode. Cat - It's 2 counties over from my office and moving s-l-o-w-l-y your way. I'm hoping it will be past Pensacola by tomorrow morning. So far all we have is wind, but we've got that creepy pre-hurricane vibe going. The one where it's too quiet and surreal. I have 3 trees with dead limbs in them too. I'm torn between hoping they come down so I can get rid of them, and hoping they stay put. What I'd really like is if they come down and form a nice little pile to be burnt.
I hope everyone has a great day, I'm off to find some meds for this headache.

Wow! Lots of EARLY birds in here! ;) I envy you night owls...it's such a peaceful time of day.
Hope you got some sleep (or at least some good yarn) Kim! :D
Allie, I'm so sorry about what happened with your friends. I get that kind of thing with my friends...they'll do things like buy something that says "whole grain" on the front and think I can eat it, then are disappointed that I won't. It has taken over a year and a half of meeting once a month with my book club for them to understand that I DON'T EAT SUGAR. They kept bringing sugar desserts and not understanding why I wouldn't eat any. The host's husband usually liked me though...I would give him my portion! ;) Maybe, since you're dealing with a serious disease, not just a food choice (not to demean what any of us are doing), you might consider finding a fact sheet on gluten sensitivity and giving it to all your friends, just so they understand. If I had a friend with your condition, I'd want to know more about it so I could support them. Sometimes it's just misinformation more than a lack of desire to help. Eating dry salad is not a fun thing, girl! And I totally think it was the right thing to make a '2nd dinner' if you were still hungry (who wouldn't be???)! You needed some protein, I bet! Don't be so hard on yourself, hon.
Hey, KO! You said it, girl! Just smile, nod, and toss it!
Cat, I hope that storm blows over with nary a branch out of place! Sending prayers and good thoughts your way!
Hey, Cottage! That's pretty short notice about the BBQ! :fr: Hope they do all the work... Have fun with the train and shopping! :D
Darling Ruth, I'm glad you're getting glasses. That will help a lot! Don't forget to use your presser foot as a 1/4" gauge. It does wonders! If you get a chance, look at the Ott Lights. They mimic natural light and are SO well designed! I used a 40% off coupon at Jo-Ann's for mine and got it for pretty cheap. Give Lucy some lovins' from me! I can't imagine how she got spoiled... ;)
Oh, Pacer! That would make anyone cranky!!! Hon, see if you can slip $5 out for yourself...buy a small dark chocolate bar and go to the local thrift store to see if you can find something nice for you to wear!!! It can make a world of difference to have your own clothes that you love. I've found amazing things at thrift and consignment stores...speaking of which, maybe you can bring your old clothes to a consignment store...that'll bring in a few more bucks that you can use for your NEW clothes! :) I've made at least $150 from consigning clothes.  for you!
Schmoodle, you're my hero! :cp: Way to protect your hard won health! :cp: I know it's hard to disappoint someone...but our health and weight loss are too important to give up just to make someone happy.
Sandstriped, CONGRATS on the 6 pounds, on feeling healthier, and on progressing to P2! :bravo: Good work! One of the easiest foods to introduce is berries...they have a very low GI and taste SO good! There is a TON of great info on P2 in two threads in the FAQ--both are stickied: Emergency Handbook for Phase 2 and What's Your P2 Combo? Check 'em out!
Me:
Had a wonderful little craft night at a local crafting store last night. I'm glad I persuaded a couple of my friends to join in--I had to put the night together for a club I'm in but didn't get enough sign-ups for a class, so I asked some friends to make up the rest. We made these darling little gift bags with matching tissue paper. Plus, we played with glitter, so I was in heaven! :lol3:
I'm having a good Friday--the guy I usually have to work with (who makes me pretty uncomfortable) switched days with the woman I adore working with. Makes for a good day! Tonight I have group therapy and am looking forward to seeing the 'gang' again since it's been a while since I've been. DH is making miso-marinated flank steak and was bragging last night about how great his marinade is. I'm excited to try it.
BTW, what the heck is with the cost of flank steak??? :fr: It was SO cheap when I was a kid, but now it's terrible! We got a 1.75 lb steak and it cost $24!!!!!!!!!!!! :faint: Couldn't believe it!
Have a great day and a fantabulous weekend, chicks! And get some sleep, darn it!

Why do men who own companies think they can be morons (and I am being nice when I say that because I would like to call him something else but and trying to keep it clean!) I got a phone call from a dealership I am working with who took 123 days to put in a manufactured home, yelling at me because I told them I would close the loan in approx 14 days after they completed the home, I am going to miss that by one day! ONE DAY, and this man tells me I don't care about my customers! Says all mortgage brokers are the same! We take pride in not being like other mortgage brokers! A year and a half ago I could have turned this lady down and never looked back, but instead I worked with her until she was able to buy a home! A new manufactured home, no money down with an interest rate of 6.75, and he has the gaul to tell me I don't care! For those who don't know, if I were like every other broker out there I would put these people in a crappy loan with interest rates in the double digits because that is the easy way out, but again I take pride in my job and my customers and can sleep at night knowing I put them in the best loan out there even if it requires more work!
OK I am done ranting! Thanks for letting me vent!

Pacer, I think you're doing a great job! Some people just have issues! Can you get away with saying, "Sir, I prefer not to be spoken to in that way. When you've calmed down and can talk with me politely, please feel free to call back. This conversation is at an end." and hanging up? You never know...I think I'd be too pissed to stay that calm!
Hope your day gets much better. I bet your client totally appreciates what you've done, even if this moron doesn't get it.

I tried yesterday to find time to post to everyone and never got time to post at all so forgive me if I don't reply to everyone. If I can, I'll get back on later and post more.
Last night was curriculum night at school where I finally got a chance to meet Brian's teachers. I really like them and they say he is doing very well. He got his Lexile test yesterday for reading and came in at 11th grade (he is 10 years old) so I'm happy. His language arts/reading/social study teacher said she did want them all reading aloud for at least 5 minutes a day so last night he got to read Harry Potter to me for a bit and then I took over. He did really well. There were only two words he needed help pronouncing and they were big words.
I'm working on learning my lines for the Wood Badge ceremony for the first person in my patrol to get his beads. The ceremony is on Sunday at noon in a tiny town about an hour and a half from me so I'm going to have to figure out how to handle Brian's Sunday school. I guess we could go to the 7:30 AM service and then I could drop him off at Sunday school and have DH pick him up. I'm just worried that he might not wake up in time to get him. He is definitely not a morning person!

Laurie - My boss, hearing me get all defensive, ended up picking up the phone and barking back at the guy and he hung up on us. I just hate when men think just because I am a woman they have the right to yell at me! Oh I thought of several things I would have liked to say after I got off the phone. Including "I would hate to have to take off my shoes and kick an old mans a** today!" As stated earlier, I have PMS and he picked the wrong day! LOL Thank god I pride myself on being professional, it could have gotten ugly.

Allie: I agree with Laurie. Maybe a fact sheet would help everyone understand how sensitive you really are to these things and make eating with them a lot better for you next time. Ugh, I can't imagine what next Spring is going to be like with me being in school, working 40+ hours a week, traveling for work, leading a Christian Writer's Group - - nights like last night are probably going to be common-place then! :yikes:
Kier: I found some great yarn -- and just paid for it because I won the bid! :carrot: I hope Ruth's advice is top-notch! (It usually is! :D)
Cat: Oh, I remember when Hurricane Rita hit in 2005. We were in George West, Texas and I was "nannying" for my BIL. It was just my nephew and myself in this huge trailer home with nobody within 45 minutes of us. It was so scary when the tornadoes (there were five in all that day), started touching down within 2 miles of us. Finally, my DH's stepdad hauled butt home when there was a break so that he could be with us. I've never been so scared in my life. (Actually had nightmares about it last night.) I can't imagine the effect K had on you and your neighbors -- and facing the thought of more storms to come! I hope it's not as soggy as you're expecting!
Cottage: Big weekend, indeed! I hope Thomas the Train is as fun for you as it is the girls. I agree that better warning would have been nice from your sister, but I'm sure it'll be a good time!
Ruth: I can't believe how many times that Lucy has eaten your glasses! She's a little bit mischievous, isn't she ;)? Hope your shopping trip is successful!
Schmoodle: What a bummer about the ebay stock! My parents had the same opportunity, but with Yahoo. They kick themselves every day for it! :kickbutt:
SandStripedcj: WTG!! 6 lbs. is a great loss! :cheer2::dancer::bravo:
mare: Boy, you're brave! Random green tomato stuff would scare me! I hope it's delicious :hun: and that your meetings aren't too tedious!
dixie: Wouldn't that be a fun bonfire? The kind where you don't have to do anything but light it? I hope your head starts feeling better!
Laurie: That craft night sounds like it was a lot of fun! I wish I had something like that down here. I hope DH's flank steak is yummy!
Pacer: I get that all the time. Men who don't listen to me because they don't believe someone that is young and female can be in a position of power. Luckily, bossman is a pretty big guy that lets them know, in not so nice terms, that it's Kim's way or the highway . That :censored: them off, but the next time they come in, they listen to me. Well, at least you're doing what's best for the woman and you have your professional integrity intact! Hope your day pics up!
Barb: WTG for Brian! That is excellent! I hope you get Sunday figured out!
ME:
I did find some gorgeous yarn on ebay and just paid for it. It's a great gray and black blend that will make a cool scarf for my sister and maybe one for me. It will match my dress jacket. I'm missing not crocheting as I ran out of yarn on Tuesday, but I think it's for the better. I finally got my roses trimmed, weeded and fertilized. Thank goodness. It looks SO much better.
This weekend should be a pretty casual one. With DH leaving on Monday again, he's going to want to take it easy and stay home. I finally bit the bullet and took ten of his shirts to the dry cleaners. Ironing one every morning was not working for us! At least I won't have any ironing to do before his trip. I need to rearrange my home office/workout/craft room because my boss got new filing cabinets and let me take the old ones home. I really needed them, but I'm not sure where to put them. Right now they're sitting in the middle of the room. Not a good look.
Well, enough chattering on. I need to refill the coffee! Have a great day!

If this is the worst of it, we have nothing to worry about. Dcapulet :welcome3: and :congrat: on Day 5 of PI.
Morning friends. :cofdate:
As for me quite a day yesterday. I was arrested and jailed for MDA and had to raise $600 in bail to be released before 5:00 p.m. I was out by one and then raised more money and took that back to them. :cheer: I got this wonderful book of poetry by Mattie, a young man with MD who passed away about two years ago :cry:and a VIP invite to one day at MDA summer camp. It felt so good to be out of the ratrace and doing something totally for someone else.
So after a long day of fundraising and then running errands and feeling good about everything in general-----my son's friend loaned us a washer (ours will be in the shop another week) so I got a load of laundry going and next thing I know the doggies are tracking water all over the kitchen. I am like "What the he**?" I look in the laundry room and it is full of water. The hose was leaking so cleaned it up called DH to stop and get a hose on his way home. :^: Start a load of laundry and no leaks everything appears to be going well and the pump is out. This is a washer that has only been used twice so what the heck is going on. We are carting our laundry back and forth to my son's home which is on our property. Will I ever be glad to get mine back. :^::^::^:
We are supposed to hear about the sale today. Think positive thoughts please. :D The hospital called and they are doing my background check, then call references, then :dunno:
I am not looking forward to working today may have to come up with some excuse to disappear for a while. Still doing good on PI, only 3 days left. :carrot::carrot::carrot:
 for those that need them and :dust: for those that need them and :bravo: to all of us for being here and fighting the good fight. :carrot:

Hey everyone! Thanks for all your support! I definitely think it's easier for me to give up gluten and therefore most grains than for you all to give up simple carbs because for me, it's either eat it or get sick! Eventually we'll all get sick one way or another if we continue to eat bad food, but it's not as immediate and therefore much harder to resist! It's more annoying for me to give it up than hard- I don't like the rashes and tummy aches!!
Off to the grocery store to see if they have any gluten free bagels in preparation for a breaking the fast feast Saturday night! Bagels and lox and red onion... mmm.

It's going to be a long night for me. We've got reboots I need to check now, more going on at 11PM and then one environment will be back up around 3AM and I'll need to recycle it and then the other one will be up around 5AM. Not quite sure where I will sleep.
Brian met his goal of being the first in the den to sell $400 in popcorn since the pack meeting. That should mean he gets the popcorn shooter which he is excited about.
Dinner was late though since we were selling until almost 8. It was good though. Peanut chicken from the Quick & Easy cookbook.
