South Beach Diet - Monday Chick ChatView Full Version : Monday Chick Chat dixied 09-17-2007, 06:44 AM How is it that I'm first? I guess it's cause I got up at 4am after sleeping all day yesterday. I'll put the coffee on for the rest of you. cottagebythesea 09-17-2007, 07:07 AM :coffee2: Thanks, Dixie! The coffee's perfect! :) :sunny: Good morning on this glorious golden day! I love this time of year, but am definitely not looking forward to the long cold winter ahead. We got the pool all closed up yesterday, and took the air conditioners out of the windows. So today I'm washing windows and already have the washing machine chugging with a load of curtains. The one job I hate is cleaning the mini-blinds, but it has to be done. At least I'll have the satisfaction that everything is fresh and clean when it's done. :) No Curves for me this morning, I'll be getting plenty of exercise here at home today! ;) First things first, though, time for another cup of coffee. :D femmecreole 09-17-2007, 07:19 AM Still dark here, but nice and cool outside...yipee! Nothing exiting going on here. Typical monday morning...just checking client emails to see what work the afternoon will bring, then I'm off to school, then to the hardware store to get new "toilet guts", then I need to go find a new bed for my youngest for his birthday tomorrow (20th) Hope you all have a wonderful day! Ruthxxx 09-17-2007, 07:57 AM Lovely morning unfolding here and a bit warmer than yesterday, thank God! I froze most of the day and was too lazy to light the wood stove. A bit sniffly this a.m. and tempted to skip gym. Dixie's coffee and a Benadryl will help. I missed two sessions last week and just MUST get my groove back. After gym I must make pesto as I picked all the basil yesterday. I've still not made the Soupe au Pistou although I sure have all the veggies. I also am supposed to put some paint on canvas for my class this afternoon. Somehow I don't think there's enough time in my morning today. Lucy the Brave is barking up a storm in the kitchen. I believe she is telling me she wants her morning milk and egg white - we are changing the protein/carb ratio in her food but I've not started running it though Fitday.....yet! Enjoy your Monday. little chick 09-17-2007, 08:57 AM http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z21/tabathalee67/21.gif just a quickie, I know I have been scarse this past week or so, but likfe is pretty busy right now. Trying to get some reorganizing done and the girls have me hopping with extra dance classes and extra cheerleading tryouts. Well gotta to dash already, just wanted you to know I did not swim away from the beach. Have a great day chicks. Ruthxxx 09-17-2007, 09:01 AM Crap! I have a temperature so will skip gym. Aspirin, Vitamin C, zinc and echinacea are on the menu for the morning. I hope I feel well enough for my painting class this afternoon AND my quilting class tomorrow. Grrrr! femmecreole 09-17-2007, 09:17 AM Ruth, it sounds like a day for you to drink lots of water and lay on the couch with Lucy and remote in hand. Take it easy! Pacergal29 09-17-2007, 09:45 AM Ah yes it is monday! Bring on the coffee (thanks dixie!) Spent yesterday cleaning and cooking, made a big pot of beans, tried a recipe for beer can chicken that turned out nice and mosit and baked some bran muffins, I am set for the week! The scale is still going down below my goal weight, not something I am "trying" to do but if my body is still willing I will take it! I think it has something to do with the yoga instructor trying to kill me with her ab workouts! :yoga: Hope everyone has a great day! Hope you get to feeling better Ruth! :getwell: beachgal 09-17-2007, 09:45 AM Hey, Dixie! Thanks for starting us up! DH and I slept in until 1:30 on Saturday! Guess it was a good weekend for sleeping in.... Wow, Cottage, can I come live with you? What a lot of work you're doing! I hate doing mini blinds too, so I don't do them. ;) Actually, we don't have any now, which helps in that arena too. But we did take the fan out of the window yesterday. I've been wanting to clean the windows all summer but we haven't done much. Now it seems too cold to try! For the first time in months, all the windows are closed. Brrr... It was in the 40's on my way to work this morning! Have a fun day, Cat! Shopping for birthday gifts is always exciting, especially for children. Toilet guts, not so much. ;) Ruth, you are a busy bee as always! I know that annoying guilt you get when you are cooking up all the veggies you think you should be using... Even though I've tasted your soupe au pistou and it's to DIE for, :T I personally give you permission to wait another day and enjoy painting this morning instead! :magic: Okay? I'm with you on the pesto...but I still have to pick my basil! :o I second Cat on the relaxing...I can't remember who told me this, but a friend of mine once said that she sees colds as a reminder from God to SLOW DOWN! I think that's pretty smart...not that I always obey... Hey, beautiful LC! Glad you're still here with us. With all that hopping, you'll be dropping pounds left and right! ;) Good Morning to all the chicks to come! :grouphug: Me: Well, DH suggested that we ride our bikes tonight and he's planning to come home a little early for it. That means no gym for me...but riding bikes outside is more fun! I'm not sure it's intense enough exercise, but it's definitely exercise for my psyche. I'm such a newbie that I feel like I'm going to fall pretty much all the time! Actually, yesterday I was trying to make a turn at the end of a cul de sac, and I couldn't finish it...I was afraid if I turned any more, I'd fall over. Instead, I ended up riding right through the middle of someone's front yard! :o :o :o I was SO embarrassed! :lol3: DH told me to be careful not to take out any mailboxes... I have a ton of zucchini on the counter and in the fridge and I swear our tomatoes in the windowsill mate when I'm not looking! I have to make zucchini puffs tonight to use up the zucchini, and need to peel and chop the tomatoes and get some tomato sauce going. :faint: I'm tired already! Hope everyone has a great day! Stay warm! :sunny: beachgal 09-17-2007, 09:47 AM Wow, Pacer! I'm in awe of all you're doing an accomplishing! :cp: :bravo: :hat: Congrats on continuing to lose and doing all that exercise. I think all your cooking and cleaning might have something to do with your loss, too! ;) Marianna 09-17-2007, 10:11 AM Just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello :) I am on-again-off-again on SBD and at the moment in day 2 of P1. I forget how great the mental clarity and energy levels are on the detox phase... feels great! Thirsty but great ;) I hope everyone has a wonderful day... as my Monday comes to a close and yours gets started. I am off to bed so I can tackle classes at uni tomorrow... see ya! SandStripedcj 09-17-2007, 11:04 AM good morning chickies! it was low 50s this morning, and it felt wonderful here. i always feel like i am waking up from a long hot summer (it has sure been hot!). i hope everyone has a fantastic morning.... weezle 09-17-2007, 12:48 PM Gooooood morning girls! LAST NIGHT WAS MY LAST NIGHT WITH THE DOGS!!!!!! Wooooo Hooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were good to me last night though. They both slept on the same side of me so I wasn't pinned between them. Sophie was so thoughtful. She's used to laying on Dad's side of the bed, and Oscar lays at the foot of the bed on Mom's side (between her and the door to protect her) so I was used to being squished. I slept straight through until 7:27 when the garbage truck came through this morning. I feel pretty good! Can't WAIT to be back at my apartment though! I have unpacking to do, laundry, dishes, cooking..... but I'll have my couch. :) And no junk food! No amount of will power keeps me out of the bag of kettle cooked chips at my parents' house. I have a mess here at work so I need to call and tear some people apart. Have a great day girls! Lisa iammare 09-17-2007, 12:55 PM Just a quick hello from me. Sorry I wasn't around much last week. I took a day off from work - just because all the fighting they were doing over me was starting to drive me insane. I needed a "mental health" day. :) Only to come back to a worse mess than when I left it. To top that off, I had decided to move cubes, so I was trying go get the new one cleaned up, and get my old one cleaned up - throwing out a few years of paperwork that I hadn't looked at since I filed it! LOL Good time to get things taken care of :). This weekend was spent cleaning, I did the stove/oven (got out the EZ-off, as well as the self cleaning cycle) The range is so clean now... I'm happy. Only problem... I scrubbed so much in some spots, I removed the enamel. Oh well, it's an old electric range that was there when we bought the house, and I want a new one :) I also decided to bleach the sinks - which turned out to be a bigger project, because I decided to clean the grout as well... and that took hours... not to mention breaking a brand new tooth brush that I had just opened for the project. LOL I also cleaned out some of my garden. I picked the last of the Spaghetti Squash, and pulled the tomato plants. That resulted in me having to do something with the tomatoes... so I made some sauce in the crock pot. Now I just have to cook it down and try to find some way to thicken it up... Well, my quick "hello" was longer than I thought - but now it's time for a 'lunch and learn' session, so I've got to be running. Hope every one has a great day!!!!! Schmoodle 09-17-2007, 01:20 PM Good Morning Chicks, At least it still is morning for a couple more minutes! What a weekend! We had lots of fun with the kids at 6 Flags, and the Aerosmith concert last night was so fun. But I didn't get to bed until 1AM, then got up at 5:30 to finish getting ready for an AM telecon. I am really dragging butt right now. On top of that, I didn't get my weekend cleaning done, so my house is a mess, and I haven't gotten to the grocery store yet, so I am running out of SB foods - I am lacking veggies in particular. I hate to start the week out tired and behind, I have a feeling this will be a long week... Mare, I am jealous of your clean house. It's been too long since I did serious cleaning like that! You and cottage are making me feel bad. Weezle, tearing people apart sounds like a great way to work out some frustrations! Marianna, sandstriped, littlechick, dixiedieter, and Cat beachgal, I'll have to try getting back on a bike again once I get my nerve up. It would be lots of fun to go out riding with DH and the kids, I bet! Pacer, I know it feels great when you've got a lot of your cooking done in advance. I think I'll have to rely on the crockpot this week. At least it's cool, so I am in the mood for some stewy things. Ruth, I'm sorry to hear you're under the weather. Hope you can take it easy today and are back on your feet again soon. From what I've read of you, I'll bet you have a hard time keeping still long enough to be sick! I think I'd better pull out the heavy blankets tonight. I haven't turned on the heat yet, but it was in the 40's this morning and I woke up cold at 5:30. Have a good one, chicks! Come on Friday! Bunnababy 09-17-2007, 01:39 PM Ruth Hope you're feeling in the pink real soon. Cuddle up with your doggies and :getwell: Hello to everyone else. :coffee: Busy day today so off to work. Kim_Star060404 09-17-2007, 01:52 PM Hey everyone! Quick fly-by for me! I've been working hard all morning and used my break to run to the post office and the cleaners. DH is out of town until Wed. night, so I hope to be back to post when I get off of work! Have a great day! iammare 09-17-2007, 01:58 PM Schmoodle - I never said I had a clean house! LOL Just parts of it are quite clean. :) I still need to strip and re-wax the floors, re org. the pantries, shampoo the carpets, and don't get me started about the bathrooms - those take me a weekend each (Yes, I'm quite anal when it comes to deep cleaning things. lol) weezle 09-17-2007, 02:47 PM :lol3: If you girls only KNEW what filth I live in! Who the **** cleans grout, or anything else for that matter, with a toothbrush? Bleaching the sink? I don't think I even have bleach. (I should buy a vacuum eventually though.) You girls are so funny. iammare 09-17-2007, 03:03 PM LOL - I strip my floors at least 2 times a year with straight ammonia, and then put 3 or 4 coats of wax on them. :) I've also been known to take apart the washing machine and wash it out, as well as the dryer. But I'm not a neat freak - not by any stretch of the imagination. I just get bored, and start cleaning 1 thing, and I won't stop till that's done. Barb0522 09-17-2007, 03:25 PM jammare - I could use you at my house. There just aren't enough hours in the day! This was a busy weekend (as usual). We went down to the pool company on Saturday morning to see if we could flip the pool around to avoid having to pay $3000 to move the electric. We got that all planned and now they are coming back and saying they will have to see if the electricity is in a conduit. If not, they have to be 5 feet from it. We know the cable will need to be moved but we can't seem to get anyone from the cable company who knows anything about that. When we were cutting down a tree last week to make room for the pool, I cleared out a vine that was growing up the side of the house. I quickly realized it was poison oak which I am very allergic to. I showered right away but I've still got sections of my body that are covered. The face is the most irritating part. I've got it on my ears and the headphones I use at work are not comfortable. I do have a cream my dermatologist gave me last time I got this but it is so strong I can't use it more than twice a day. This weekend was the start of the popcorn selling season for scouts. Brian and I spent about 12 hours selling between Sat afternoon and Sunday afternoon. And it was still hot here. Okay, maybe only upper 80's low 90's but it was more humid than usual. I got a bit sunburned too which makes the poison oak feel worse. He did great though and has already sold just over $1000. His goal is $7000 which is quite a bit but he is determined so I will support him. weezle 09-17-2007, 03:46 PM Mare, I'll gladly have you over to my apartment. I've only lived there 2 weeks, and one of those weeks I was never in it, and it already could use your help. When I get bored, I read or something. Do something fun. Cleaning sucks. :D iammare 09-17-2007, 03:57 PM I read every night for about 1 hour, and as for fun - DH and I don't do anything like that - we never have been 'social butterflies'. We're more the loner type. I did play around on the PC for a few hours, as well as watched a little TV. I guess that's what happens when you're up b 8 on the weekends, and don't get to sleep at night till 11ish. AND don't do anything outside of the house. Sad, isn't it? LOL Kim_Star060404 09-17-2007, 04:39 PM Hey ladies! I just had to brag on DH and this leather key fob he made me. Isn't it pretty? He set aside his paying customers' orders so that he could finish it by the time he left to go out of town this morning. Isn't he sweet? The first one is the front and the second one is the back. They're cell phone pics, so not that great, but oh well! weezle 09-17-2007, 04:48 PM Kim, do you drive a Chevy by chance? You have the exact same auto unlock thingy as my parents' car that I've been driving for the last week. I was like "That looks familiar....." Neat keychain though! What a guy! Mare, I was up at 7:30am and in bed by midnight Saturday, up at 8:30 and in bed by 11:45 last night, and I read my book, farted around online, read a weight-loss magazine, paid bills, watched some ballgames..... I don't do a whole heck of a lot. I didn't socialize all weekend because the weekend before was a doozy! If I get so bored that I can't do any of those things, I shut my eyes and take a nap. I'm ticked at myself because now when I get to my parents' to feed the dogs tonight, I need to do some laundry and their dishes that I've dirtied over the last week before I can go home. And by do the dishes, I mean rinse them and put them in the dishwasher, then press "start." Ugghhhh life is ROUGH! ;) KO 09-17-2007, 04:55 PM Kim! that's gorgeous!!! you guys are so talented. Lisa you clean like I do! I scrubbing bubblesed the bathroom last night Just b/c I was ticked but hands and knees don't happen that often! I can't really clean with bleach it sends me into an asthma attack However if you pour it in your toilet and walk away for an hour or so it works WONDERS! Does discussing this make me an Adult? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo iammare 09-17-2007, 05:05 PM Oh yeah - I also did some baking this weekend, Nessa's bars, and 3 loaves of ww zucchini bread - so the dishwasher was running non stop. Probably about 6 loads this weekend. I had to get some new baking pans, so they had to be washed. Schmoodle 09-17-2007, 05:45 PM Weezle, I love it when my house is clean, but I'm with you, cleaning is not fun. weezle 09-17-2007, 05:55 PM Hey, more power to the clean-freaks! I just use my toothbrush to brush my teeth. I wipe up little spills and such, or if there's an explosion in the microwave I'll clean that up, but otherwise.... I have too much I want to do in life that makes me happy (i.e. reading, watching ballgames, exercising, sleeping...) to spend all my time taking a toothbrush to every inch of my kitchen, or washing out the inside of my washing machine. I'm pretty sure it's plenty clean for me, cleaner than the dirty clothes I toss in there anyway, and that's what matters. Long as my clothes smell good when they come out, I'm happy. :D I don't wanna do dishes tonight. (WHINE) iammare 09-17-2007, 06:13 PM LOL - The thing is, you would think that the inside of your washing machine was clean - but it's not. When we took the shell off, and took out the tub, we were really grossed out. All the dirt was collected on the inside of the plastic tub. Along with the gloppy fabric softener, the grease/oil that the soaps wash out of your clothing... everything was thick like soft wax and sticking to the side of the tub! It was really nasty. The only reason we took it apart was because we were having issues where clothes were being ruined, and we couldn't figure out if it was the washer or dryer - it ended up being the dryer, but still. I'll never not take apart the washer and clean it at least once a year now. By the way, you MUST be the only person to refer to me as a clean freak. I'm not! Really! I'm unorganized, and cluttered... and a lot of other things, but I'm not a clean freak! LOL Just really anal when it comes to cleaning - which I hate to do. That's why I've decided to undertake 1 or 2 projects a week and that's it. That is the only way I'll have a semi-neat house! Kim_Star060404 09-17-2007, 06:45 PM Okay, I'm finally here and can post a decent one! Dixie: Thanks for getting us started! Cottage: Ugh! I hate cleaning blinds! Luckily, we're redoing the house, so DH thinks its about time to replace all of them. No cleaning! :carrot: Cat: What a great birthday present for your son. I bet he'll love that! Hope school went well today! Ruth: I'm hoping that by now your fever is gone and you're feeling better. Give brave Lucy a pat for me! :D LC: I'm on the same page you are - time to get the re-organizing done. Hope it's going well and that the girls' activities aren't making you crazy! :dizzy: Pacer: WTG getting below your goal weight! I agree with you, if you're body's for it, what the heck? Right? Congrats! Beachgal: What a funny story! I hope you and DH have a great time on that ride. Watch out for those yards -- they come out of nowhere! Marianna: I'm glad to "meet" you and that you're feeling so great on P1! Keep it up! SandStripedcj:  Schmoodle: Dang! Sounds like a busy weekend! No wonder you're tired. I hope you've gotten some rest in today., Bunna! Barb: Ouch! I hope that rash clears up soon. I'm sure it can't be pleasant. I can't believe it's already popcorn-selling season! Well, we're cheering for Brian, of course! Lisa: Thanks, DH is a neat guy! ;) I'm glad you're getting rid of the doggage tonight. Mine are spending the night in the kennel and I'm kinda glad. No kicking puppies out of the bed all night. Oh, and yes, that is my chevy key. KO: Thanks - I'll tell him you said so. By the way, I free-handed the yard cutouts, but it was super easy. I wanted to use a pattern, but didn't have time to enlarge it, so I just played it by ear. mare: DH and I are planning an "appliance cleaning" this weekend. I shudder to think what they're all going to look like. Yuck! Me: Today has been a busy day. Lots of work piled up on the desk this morning, but I've gotten through it. I had to run the dry cleaning in as DH is out of town, mail some packages, and take the dogs to the vet. When DH and his boss are out of town, I stay with his boss' wife. Last time I took our dogs, but their dogs had to sit whining in the cage all night and I felt really bad. So, our puppies will be hanging out at the vets until Wed. Tonight I've got 2 bible studies to catch up on and laundry to put away before I head out to the ranch for the night. I'm not sure what dinner will be, but we discussed fajitas Friday night, so I'm sure it won't be too bad. I might need to water DH's garden, but it looks like rain's coming, so we'll see. It would be nice to avoid that chore at least one time! :) Well, I'd better get going! Hope everyone had a great day and will have a great evening! ~Kim vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
