Rainy Saturday morning here. It's a good day to go shopping, I think. I have a 20% off coupon from Carter's that I have to use by the end of the month, so I may pick up some outfits for the grandkids to put away for Christmas. Since Jake quit smoking, I want to get a new livingroom suite, too, so I want to start looking around.
How's your weekend shaping up?

 Just a quick check-in before I tackle the last picture board for the Church. It's stopped raining here and the radar shows no more on the way! :cb: I will go over to the Church around nine with Lucy to do my first shift. We are taking turns at being the tour guide, each of us with our dog. Our Church is from 1811 but is also famous for having dogs in Church every Sunday so the pooches have to work too. This event runs all day but is just today, thank God!
Tomorrow is the Terry Fox Run/Walk and I'm doing registration. (It's for cancer research.) Hershey is doing it with friend John and has more sponsors than he has! Lucy was to do it with Rob but had to opt out for health reasons. She will be with me to help with the registration. There she goes with dog talk again!
Gotta get cracking. I hope your weekend is shaping up to be a fun one!

Good Morning!
Cottage: Maybe you will catch a sale along with that coupon. Seems like everything is on sale here!
Ruth: I hope you and sweet Lucy enjoy your day. Sounds very busy. I would love to see pictures of your church. I just love old churches...love the way they smell too!
Me: kind of a busy day. Need to get some work done, then clean the house and laundry and grocery store. Tonight we are going out with 2 other couples for dinner at a great place called "Taste of Bavaria". It is a cottage tucked out in the country. The problem is that it is German food. It is also a bakery. So I may eat a little before I leave and just have a small dinner salad if they don't have "big salads" there. Something tells me grilled fish won't be an option. But that's ok..there for the company and not the food.
Yesterday afternoon, we drove to a town close by because Belk's was having a sale. I wanted to see if I could pick up a dress for tonight's outing. I didn't see any I really liked, but decided to try on a pair of size 10 pants for the hellofit. Well, they fit..a little tight, but not way too tight. I really didn't like the pants (low rise), but it felt good anyway even if I left the store empty handed. So maybe I'll make my goal by Christmas or New Years. It would be nice, but will take it as it comes. We did find 4 shirts for my husband though for $8 each. He has a thing for "tropical" shirts, so next summer he'll have a nice new selection.

Oh, I forgot something. Ruth, you will appreciate this.
We have a maltese named "Stitch". He had belonged to the parents of a friend of my daughter's. He was around 8 months old when Katrina hit. They lost their house and were living with relatives till their house could be rebuilt. My daughter adored him, so they asked if she could keep him till they got resettled. They ended up in a fema trailer outside their house and it looked like it would be a long time till the house would be ready. So several months later they asked if she wanted to keep him permanately. She had just moved into a new apt, so she gave him to me. I just love him so of course I said yes.
When he was a little over a year old, he started to develop allergies. Constant scratching and biting creating sores etc. We have been to 3 vets and have had tons of bills. It seems to get better, then the cycle starts over again. It seems that the main thing he has an allergy to is fleas. They don't have to even bite him...just hop on him and he is tearing himself to bits. I am very picky about fleas...with 4 dogs I have to be. We do the stuff on their backs, we treat the yard etc. But I guess every now and then one sneaks in. He is also allergic to grass and seems to know this cause he doesn't go near it.
Yesterday, my husband brought him back to the vet. He can get steroid shots every now and then that seem to help. He also got new spray, pills etc. And she said we can give him kids benedryl 3 times a day. She also said that she would strongly suggest SHAVING him to see if helps get the medicine on each spot he has. Of all the dogs that need to be shaved he's not a great choice...he is very "vain" when it comes to his appearance. He absolutely LOVES getting a bath and being blow dried and being brushed..then he prances all around the house like he's saying "look at me!".
It broke my heart to do it, but I got out the clippers last night and shaved him down to his skin. I swear he looks like a pink deranged spotty lion. I left the hair on his head and tail because he has no "itches" there. I feel so sorry for him. He was so good about holding still for the clipping but I know he's not a happy boy about it.

Happy weekend beachers!
Just doing a fly by while I try to wake up enough to head to the gym. I wish the gym was closer to my house, but it's a free membership, so it's worth the drive into Pensacola on the weekends.
Ruth- Talk dog all you want, I drive people at work crazy with Tia Bella stories. In my case it's the pitfalls of being childless. If I have to hear antedotes from their child's toddler years, they can listen about my dog.
Cottage - I love Carter's. I do a lot of shopping their for my cousins kids.
Cat- That dinner sounds good. Congrats on the size 10s. You get extra respect points for being brave enough to try on low rise, that cut is just EVIL.
Added: Poor Stitch, he's going to need a sweater!

Good Morning chicks,
Starting the weekend off on a positive note with a 3lb loss at weigh-in! Gotta love those post-TOM weigh ins! I had upped my calories and wasn't sure if I had a shot at making my September goal, but now I'm more than halfway there.:carrot:
It's stopped raining here too and it's sunny but pretty cool. DH and I are taking the kids to 6 Flags today for my company picnic, but I think it'll be too cool for the water park. That's okay, plenty of other stuff to do.
Happy shopping cottage. Yesterday I stopped in Sears to pick up a water filter and got waylaid by the clearance racks in the Women's Dept. I only have 2 pairs of work pants left, and the ones I wore yesterday kept slipping down. I've been a 1x/20 for a long time, so I headed straight to those sizes and realized they were too big (duh!). So I went to Misses and tried on an XL - too big! I tried a L and it was just right!!! I do think Sears sizes are cut bigger than other places though, but it was fun to be in a regular size. I ended up with a cute top, but no pants. I took a good look at myself in the dressing room though and realized I looked ridiculous with my baggy pants and saggy boobs - I need new bras desperately. So I think a shopping trip is in my future too!
Ruth, don't stop talking about the doggies! I like to hear how Lucy's doing. Even though I am not generally a dog person, I feel very attached to Lucy!
Cat, congrats on the 10's. Hope you can stay away from the dumplings tonight! I'm sure I couldn't...
Morning dixie, have a great workout!
Well, I still need to shower, eat, and pack up supplies for the day, so better get going. Have a good one chicks!

Brrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate cold weather! (Especially when I don't have a coat with me or any winter clothes that fit me....) 36 degrees? It's not December! Geeeeez.
Ok that's all the negativity I have for the day. Hope you girls are having a good one. I have to get ready to go to work today. Then I have tomorrow off and hopefully the dogglettes will let me SLEEP. Sophie got me up around 6 and I tried to go back to sleep until 7:17. She's just so itchy so she licks, scratches, stomps and scoots around trying to reach. Poor girl. But poor me too! I'm sleepy.
Maybe we can start a new 7 Dwarves. Itchy, Sleepy..... Dopey. (awww Oscar isn't dopey.) Hungry. There. We got it started. Have a good one girls!

Morning Ladies...well it's afternoon here, lol!
Morning my fellow beach buddies! :broc: I'm on day 5 of phase one and am finding myself very moody:mad:. Day 3 and 4 I felt very sluggish and headaches O-RAMA but I figured this was withdrawal from my coffee addiction:devil: lol;) Taking a wee break from housework to chat...I'm going to give the taco bake a try tonight. I think someone said it's ok to freeze as dh has left the beach to go back to scotch pie city.
Cottage: Have fun shopping, I've started some of my Christmas shopping early...it's the only way to stay organised for me since I have to ship internationally.
Ruth: I was acutually going to ask you about Lucy...type away! funny enough they are having an open building weekend here in Glasgow. I was thinking about volunteering at the Cathedral and I might just if I'm not too busy tomorrow.
Femme: Congrats on your tens!!! Your poor wee doggy. I hope he doesn't catch a cold.
Dixie: Have fun at the gym.
Schmoodle: Congrats on being more than halfway there! It must be a great feeling.
Weezle: It's quite chilly here as well. But then we never really had a summer this year in Scotland. It never reached above 70! ~sigh

Hello Ladies,
Just popped in while waiting for the kids to get their acts together.
Weezle, I'll be Saggy or Baggy. I could be Hungry too!
ElusiveKoolAid, you'll love the Taco Bake! Enjoy! I usually have my Christmas Shopping done early too, most of it is internet shopping now. This year I feel like I'm woefully behind. Oh well, the nieces and nephews always love cash, I just feel like a cop-out when I hand it out.
Okay, we're out the door now.

I could not switch to decaf...just couldn't. That's just treason around here. I have a couple of cups of coffee+chicory in the morning and then an iced coffee in the afternoon as a pick me up snack. I would have to kill someone if I didn't. There are things that are hard to give up...like sweets, but coffee..no way could I do that! You are a stronger man than I, gunga din!

Good morning :beach:fellow beachers.
Ruth: We enjoy hearing about the doggies, and, I agree with dixie that if we have to listen to toddler stories then they have to listen to our baby stories. Hope you enjoy doing the tours today.
Cat and Schmoodle: :congrat: on those pant sizes. I have a ways to go before I see a L or 10. I will get there though.
Weezle: It is good to hear you doing so well. :cheer2: Even if you can't sleep in with the wigglebug.
Cottage: Happy shopping. :carrot:
Dixie: Have a good gym workout. :ebike:
Elusive: They are right the Taco Bake is really good. There are so many good recipes on the boards. Sorry your dh left the beach but glad you are staying. :yay:
Day 6 for me. The other day I would have eaten the top off the table to get to a bread crumb. Feeling much calmer today. I can also feel my energy increasing. I want to try the fried radishes with something for dinner tomorrow. Working all day today so will eat salad, vegies, :carrot::broc:and meat at the restaurant. My dh made a curried beef and vegi for me yesterday, it was so good. Still no word from the mall if they are approving the buyers for our establishment, put dh is a foul mood and I would like to know so I can give the hospital an answer if they offer me the job I interviewed for on Wed. Well off to work, everyone have a wonderful day.

Just checking back in to report a NSV - my favorite capris from 2 summers ago now fit again, if still a tad bit snug. Just 2 monthes ago I couldn't even pull them on. Woo-hoo! DH says he can really tell I'm loosing inches, if not the pounds. Also today I stood naked in front of the full length mirror (well actually the curio cabinets, I refuse to put up a full length mirror until I loose so more) and I can't see any actual rolls anymore. Lots of jiggle, but no actual rolls!

So, I'm back early from my camping extravaganza. It was SO COLD last night plus it was POURING all night. Luckily the tent stayed water tight but that didn't change that it was probably right above freezing! Even though tonight was supposed to be nicer, we all decided that we needed sleep after last night's frozen sleeplessness! There was deep standing water on 3 sides of the tent when we woke up because of all the rain!
On the good side, we made it more than halfway up the mountain. However, the trail is all rock and not only that, it's very eroded. We finally got to some sheer rock faces and not only were we in a cloud (so no view at the top), but the rocks were really slick and I was concerned about re-hurting my ankle. No regrets though... We made it about more than a mile up and it was seriously straight up 85% of the time with no truly "flat" stretches. My goal now is to be able to make it all the way up in the Spring- on a dry day!

Have had some victories on the scale, on day 9 of phase 1. I'm always glad when the first week is over.

Back from the touristy thing at the Church and out of that darn 1811 outfit! Those pioneers must have had tough skin! We had lots of visitors and the dogs did shifts really well although Doug and I were there for the duration. Lucy had about seven ginger cookies from crumbs! We ran out when it was Hershey's turn. People always want to give the dogs something! I'll remember to bring raw veggies next year.
I've just made a big batch of hummus and a veggie platter to take to the BD party tonight. Naturally I've tried it and will be breathing garlic on the world. I put some of my frozen red pepper puree in it and it's fabulous. Two years ago I bought a CRATE of red peppers, roasted them, peeled them and pureed them. They are just great in hummus or swirled in broccoli soup along with yogurt. I'm debating doing that again this year but have left it a bit late.
Next week is the IPM (International Ploughing Match (http://www.plowingmatch.org/)) and the village is already busy with people coming in early. It's a huge deal with a tent city, entertainment, demonstrations and even some ploughing! About 30K to 50K peopel are expected. I won't be able to work it much as my damned knee can't handle all the walking over rough ground but will be doing some finance stuff online and also helping make 450 box lunches every morning! That's a heck of a lot of sandwiches at 4 slices of bread per lunch! Imagine peeling 450 boiled eggs.
Enough! I'm getting tired thinking of it. Time to change for dinner.

Very nice place, very good company and nothing there to eat!! I have never been to a restaurant since starting SB where there was not one entree I could eat..or at least one part of an entree. There was nothing on the menu I could eat except for a small dinner salad. It ended up being very good..cucumbers, lettuce, black olives, goat cheese and a wonderful vinegarette. I should have told them to put 2 salads in one large bowl. I could have finished it off in 4 or 5 bites had I not nursed it along. I thought I would be "envious" when everyone else at the table got their wonderful big meals. I wasn't. It all looked totally gross to me. Big round globs of potatoes and meat and noodles covered with sauces and "spritzal, spratzel, sprutzal "..whatever. It all looked revolting even though everyone enjoyed it. Yahoo for SB. I'm sure it was very good, but it all looked like large globs of pure starch with mushroom soup on top. ick. I must admit the birthday cake looked wonderful, but I had a cute little pot of coffee and felt terribly good about myself, which was much better than having a stomach full of glue.

We had a great day at the Park, gorgeous weather and it even got warm and sunny enough to hit the water park for a while. I couldn't figure out why the park was so packed though, since it was closed to the public for the company picnic, then realized they had also invited families of local deployed servicemen and women. I was glad they did that, it made me happy and I didn't mind a few lines. I can't even imagine what it cost though. Renting 6 Flags, providing food all day for THOUSANDS, ice cream, beverages, including beer. Plus goodies at the gate for everyone, really nice stuff. I've always worked for a small company (150 employees), but last year we got bought by a defense contracting giant and so this is a whole new world for me.
Sadly, there was not much on plan to eat but soyburgers and diet soda, and no outside food was allowed. Can you imagine, not a veggie in sight (not counting potatoes)? I did okay, but not totally on-plan, a little brisket, a little pulled pork, some baked beans, because I love barbeque food, half a soy burger, and I did drink half a beer, first one in three and a half months, and I have to say, I still love the stuff.
Sorry, I'm beat, no personals this evening. Hope you all had a great day. I'm going to make my grocery list and pass out.

Hey Ladies
I'm sipping water while DH snoozes on the couch. He worked all last night and most of today. I woke him for dinner after 9 frozen turkey burgers on the grill pan kicked up with chili powder cumin and sylvias seasoning! mmmmm 2% cheddar
When we were in Maine I bought Richards Simmons groovin in the house at a flea market. . .That man can move! Altho you don't want to see him sing along to "hot stuff" *shudder* luckily a lot of his moves are the same b/c no instruction! I kept up for about 25 min (reminds me I have to tally my exercise time)
RN what's Frozen Jam??? is it SBD compliant?
Ruth I want to live in your pantry!!!! and fridge ;) Glad you had a good time And btw can we borrow some of your DNA? I want your energy!
Cat isn't that the best when the "sinful" stuff just becomes gross? You kicked serious ARSE!
Schmoodle sounds like you had a great day!! :D thats awesome that they had the servicemen's fams!
Striped: If you like regular beans. .. Maybe spice up some black beans and do a layer of them. . .you could mash them up or leave them whole.
I got very caught in the rain today mid scoot to the dentist (who cancelled) and I went to the grocery in search of SF cocoa. They didn't have any!
So I made my own!!
I felt like Ruth!!!! (Ruth If you were a grown up I'd want to be you if I was one) I got Unsweetened cocoa and Instant coffee. 2 tbsp cocoa 1-2 tsp coffee 3 pkts of splenda dash of salt 1 cup hot 1% and a swirl of vanilla it was better that (american) sugar cocoa (I have to concede to Cadburies) I'm pondering making 1 before bed
I swore to myself I was going to do some writing tonight! SO I'm out. Have a great night ladies!!
btw where are Kara and Indi?

Hey Chicks! How's it? (Sorry, that's the Hawai'in coming out in me!)
Today was a great day! DH and I woke up and got breakfast, stopped by the hardware store and had a lovely morning. After all of that, we started working on some of our fall yard decor. I spent 6 hours working on them, but it was well worth it! I think they're adorable! (I'm biased a bit :D) I also finished my mom's scarf today and I'll be sending it to her Monday. I hope she likes it! It's a bit longer and thinner than a traditional scarf, but that's the trend out here. The girls fold them in half and loop the ends through the fold and the ends hang down the front. It's really cute!
Anyways, I've got to get to bed - a lot to do tomorrow! Have a great night!

Wow, this weekend is flying by too fast! I've got to get a few hours of work in this morning, then I'm going to take my grandmother out for lunch. This afternoon I hope to get some cleaning done and maybe grocery shopping. This evening I've got tickets to see Aerosmith in concert with my brother and niece. I'm so excited about that!!! Last time I saw them it was 1977...
Kim, I love fall decorations, yours look great! I can't wait until I've got some time to get mine out, but that won't be for a week or two.
Kierie, I've been on a hot cocoa kick lately too. It really seems to kick the evening munchies. I've got to have that or a fudgesicle.
Sandstriped, there's another recipe on the board called enchiladinis. It's similar to a taco bake, but the bottom is a layer of black beans. I made it last week and it was really good. Even DH loved it. You could use any kind of bean, unmashed, if you don't like the texture.
Cat, bravo for your will power!
Ruth, I'd love to see a picture of you in 1811 garb! An international ploughing match sounds too cute!
RMMOM, I used to make strawberry freezer jam every year and I see they have a sugarfree surejell now. Did you use that? How did it turn out?
charolastra, sounds like you had a great time despite the weather conditions. More power to you, I love to camp, but not extreme camping. I went winter camping in a tent in the snow once and it was the last time. I've never been so cold in my life, I'm surprised none of us ended up with hypothermia. congrats on making it so far up the mountain!
Dixie, congrats on the NSV! I've been getting into some of my old clothes lately and it feels great!
Bunnababy, good luck with the restaurant sale and job hunt. I am curious about the fried radishes. I love them raw, but I can't decide if fried sounds good or not. Let us know how they turn out, please! BTW, I am nowhere near a 10 either, and the L was a top - I haven't gotten up the nerve to try on pants yet. I'm guessing I'm an 18 there. I've got a big bootie. I don't know if I can ever expect to be a 10 pants size.
Well, down to some serious work. I've got a meeting first thing tomorrow and I won't have time tonight to get myself organized. The weather is looking spectacular here today, hope it is where you are too!

Ahhhh. Doggies let me sleep until 8! Going to be a lazy day of watching football AND baseball. I'm so confused. Usually once football starts, the Cubs are mathematically elliminated so I can focus on the Bears. Now I have to figure out what time each of them play so I can spend the entire day watching sports. :?: Oh and Notre Dame got CRUSHED yesterday, 38-0. Damn damn damn.
I can't believe it's that time of year again. I don't know what I'm going to do now that football season is here. I used to belong to a private club and we had potlucks and all kinds of stuff out there, but my parents and I resigned because two weeks ago, there were long-time members (one was a board member) who were tearing down the club's decorations, crumpling them up, and stuffing them in the urinals and toilets so they could urinate on them, all because of the baseball team on the decorations. I decided that I have enough drama in my life without having that kind of immature and destructive behavior going on in a place that I pay money to go to every year. It's sad because I'll miss a lot of the friends I made there, and it was a nice club except for a few people, but those people ruined it for me, and for my parents.
And my good friend Lucas and his wife are moving out of Springfield the end of this month, so I won't have their place to go to for football. And Wiggles doesn't like football. I guess I can have people over to my place to watch it on my TINY tv, if I can find any friends who really care about football. None of my really close male friends are here (except when Abdul comes home once a month but he doesn't follow sports) and then I'm left with some female friends who don't care, and Abdul's son, who's gay and I don't know that he cares about football (yet.) He did become a Cubs fan this year.
Sigh.... I'm going to need a bigger TV. That's all there is to it.
Hope you girls have a great day! I need to figure out what time everybody plays. Talk soon!

Schmoodle: I used to a very long time ago fit into a size 8 but I won't probably ever see that again. Personally at 5'9" I think 118 lbs was too light. :dunno:
Kim: I bet your mom will love that scarf. I just need to put in a yard! :yikes: We took ours all apart so we can put in a sprinkler system.
Weezle: Just buy a 50" plasma and watch them gather. I haven't checked the scores yet so don't know how anyone did today. Oh yeah, my son did call me to tell me how the Browns did cuz their QB is an Oregon boy. Go Oregon! :cheer: Not really a Browns fan but hey. It is amazing how immature some people can be. Sorry they ruined it for you and yours.
Sand: Glad you enjoyed the turkey pepperoni. Yummy! :hun:

CAT: Great job avoiding all those carbs and sauces. :bravo:
Ruth: I don't know how you keep up with yourself. :running::running::running:
Me: DH and I went to Costco today. Stopped and had Mexican. I was worried about those chips and salsa cuz it is my fav. I just pushed them over to his side of the table and had a salad. It was a nice NSV to walk out of the restaurant feeling good about what I had. :D Bought all the goodies to make the protein packed cheesecake on Wed., checked in here and now off to bed, maybe start a new book.
