Default Hope for plateaus or stalls...

I've been lurking for awhile. Haven't posted because I try to only post if I have something positive to say. (Thanks mom! "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!")

The last 3 months I have stayed in the same 5 pound range. (230-235). Up and down, over and over. I got lots of advice! Eat more, eat less, exercise more, exercise less, don't eat this, eat that. You get the idea I'm guessing... My doctor even told me to go down to 800-1000 cals a day! Yikes! I knew that wasn't sustainable! Are you kidding me?

Here's what I did. I did bump up my exercise (5-6 days of cardio, 1 hour, 4 days of strength training). I have teenagers and due to driving them all over the planet (we homeschool, but it should be called car-schooling) we were often eating dinner at 7-8 pm. I've stopped eating after 5 or 5:30. I eat a LARGE breakfast, dinner type of lunch and a very light dinner. I've also cut my fat intake a little (I'm on So. Beach where healthy fats are encouraged, but I think I was hitting the nuts and cheese a little too hard. I made most of these changes about a month ago.

Finally, today, the scales rewarded me. I've lost 6 pounds (I last weighed about a week and a half ago). Even though I told myself that this was a great lesson in how to maintain, I'm sure glad to see the numbers drop. Three months was a very long time!

Be stubborn gals!

I give you props for sticking it out! That's where my weight loss stopped last time...I started at 289, got down to 224...and stayed there for 2 weeks. Yes, only 2 weeks before I threw in the towel and gained it back. *sigh*
This time around, I'll be like you and stick it out!

Great job sticking with it. I know what you mean about the nuts and cheese. I finally gave up my PB because portion control was killing me.

Congratulations and post anyway.

Default Theory about Plateaus

Congratulations. I know it feels so good to finally move on!

But I have a theory about plateaus (at least, this is what I tell myself).

The plateau is when my skin needs to shrink to fit the rest of me!!! So that when I'm at goal, my arms won't be floppy.

At least, that's what I tell myself!

Witchy, a doctor who's never had to lose 100 pounds and doesn't have much of a clue. To his credit, he is a great cheerleader and jumps for joy everytime I go in with even the slightest loss. It kind of makes up for the ignorant advice!

Rachel, my dh said the exact same thing about my skin shrinking! So funny. He keeps telling me, "slow, slow... we don't have the $$ for the surgery!".

Thanks everyone for the kind and encouraging words!
