I may have been one of the first readers of this site back in the late 1990's. I, too, was a 'fat chick' and loved the name of the site. I was too embarrassed to post anything though and at that time wasn't considering Weight Loss Surgery (WLS). I alway thought, "I know I'm fat, but I'm not THAT fat" -- whatever THAT meant.

Anyway. . .long story short . . .I had RNY gastric bypass surgery 9/29/03 and have lost 115 lbs. I just keep getting younger every day. I know WLS is not the answer for EVERYONE, but this is ONE who is very thankful for the opportunity for renewed life. Before the surgery I could barely walk -- now I go dancing nearly every weekend.

congrats! i just found this site too-- it was just the thing I needed for accountability and motivation to lose the baby weight!! If I could do surgery, I might consider it, but I don't think they'd let me...

hi,, my surgery date was moved up two weeks to Oct 2 and im getting the hebby jebbys... and not a lot of time to learn all the ins and outs of what i should be doing to get ready. Glad to know you have done it!!! Got throught it!! and Dont regret it!!! So if yo have the time maybe you could just tell a little bit of how your doing now after such a fantastic loss and maybe some of your ups and downs along the way of keeping on track.. I worry about going back to my old habits even with the surgery......
