Well, after a long hiatus I am back and ready to lose some weight!

Starting weight for this week: 215 lbs (I refuse to change my ticker because it's salt and period induced water gain hehe).

Plan: do YOAD and a combination of running/walking 6 days a week, around 12 miles or so. 30 min minimum each time to get in my daily exercise requirements.

I am off to eat breakfast (Cheerios and strawberries) and re-read some sections of YOAD and then hop on my treadmill. I should have been sub 200 lbs about a dozen times already with all the running I have been doing, so I am out to make that happen.

1st goal: 199 lbs by October 31st
2nd goal: 180 lbs by Christmas

There! Now it is written down and it just has to happen!

Had a very emotional days the past two days. Men and their testorines..... My oldest son and my husband arguing and name calling. Was doing great with the food and water until then. I need to make another YOU turn. Good news is that i am praying that on the 13th......next Thursday, the docs will tell me to take the walking boot off and start walking on my own. I can't believe that I have had the silly boot on for 2 months. Glad to see everyone is doing well.
Congrats to Cindy and her upcoming nuptials!!!!

Kim Im glad your getting that boot off..its about time. Now instead of turning to food for stress go for a nice walk..(without any men) let them figure it out themselves..
Cindy,,you must be getting soooooo excited. We want to see pics of the wedding you know..
Well this week I rocked the scale. After a disasterous last week, this week Im so happy to be down 7 pounds..now as exciting as that is..I still have 3 pounds to get into VFT. I will get there

Exercise-wise I am totally on plan and even doing more than asked.

Eating I am better but not there yet. I think I need to flush out all the junk in the house. Haven't done fast food in over a week though! That is a miracle.

Went out to eat and had a greek salad and some soup but over indulged in the pita bread. Tomorrow is another day!

Its been raining/foggy/muggy here for 3 days now. We are supposed to have a picnic for work tomorrow..I hope it clears up. Still walking and eating right on plan. I want to break thru into the 270's soon..Ive been waiting a longgg time to do it too.

10 Dr. Ozisms You Can Do Right Now to Add Years to Your Life
With American obesity on the rise, many people have concerns if a longer, happier life is in their future. Our very own health and fitness expert, Dr. Oz, shares with you some of his tips for American longevity. Read below to learn some invaluable advice to help you achieve longevity.

#1 Avoid refined, processed foods — skip anything with white flour.
#2 Avoid fried foods and foods with hydrogenated oils — they're toxic.
#3 Eat berries, soybeans and cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cabbage, brussel spouts, kale)
#4 Keep 2 medium-weight dumbbells by your bed. Do a few reps before sleeping and when you wake up.
#5 Put a stationary bike in front of your TV and only watch when pedaling.
#6 Develop an everyday stretching routine, such as simple yoga poses.
#7 Find something to be grateful for every day.
#8 Take 10 slow, deep breaths every morning and evening.
#9 Smile while making eye contact. It will make you and the other person feel better.
#10 Distance yourself from negative emotions by observing them without judgment.

You can go to the Real Age site and listen to portions of the book to help you decide if this is the program for you. I love and my medical doctor loves that I have decided to live my life this way. I have a lot more to lose than most on this thread and past stress and injuries have made it impossible to to do all the things I need to do....mainly the minimum of 30 mins. of exercise each day...no excuse. Hope this helps and welcome to the thread!

Can you believe that September is half over? Oh my gosh.......why is time going by so quickly? Did I tell you all I got the permission to walk without the boot on Thursday? I have been trying to work up my speed....I am really moving slow. I guess I am scared I am going to re injury myself. I will get there though. I started to go through boxes from the move in March...I found a journal where I get journalling at different dates and years......I am going to get it together because my family deserves better and so do I....I must not have listened because I am still FAT
I am not sure what I need to do but I need to get this accomplished.

I am down to 210, but ate like an idiot last week. I am determined to get to 205 by the end of the month. I don't think I can swing a full 10 pound loss in 12 days lol. So I will go for another 5 and be super happy!

Gals......it was a good show. I could have did without Bob Greene but oh well. The Doc was very entertaining and informative and since he swallowed a camera pill....we got to see what the inside of him looked like. I wish I could send you a copy off my DVR but alas.....I can't. Still hanging in and doing well some days and not so much on others. I got to kick my butt in gear. Ivillage has a 6 week walking challenge starting October 1.

Hi gals - I've got one week to go before the wedding, and then I'll be back from the honeymoon on 10/14. I promise to be around more after that - and get myself back in the gym and back on track! I've not watched the Oprah thing either - sounds like it was interesting, from the other thread about it here in our forum.

Hope you gals are having a great weekend!
Cindy

PS - any idea why my tickerfactory ticker won't work - it's a brand new one!

one week Cindy...i cant believe you actually peeked in today..haha All the best to you and your beloved! See you when you get back....
I made the greatest sandwich today for supper..its soo yummy!
Im still trying to eat fish once a week but was getting tired of the salmon cakes i normally make. My friend gave me this recipe.
1 can red salmon
1 tbsp light mayo
chopped onion
celery
Mix together and spread on dry toast.
Shred light cheese very fine, sprinkle on top of salmon mixture and place in an oven till cheese is melted.
That was her version. While I was making it I remembered I still have tomatoes left from garden so I chopped a small one up and when it came out of oven I topped the sandwiches with tomato...
this is a keeper!! didnt really taste like salmon at all ..(to me anyways)

I have a friend in Tacoma Washington who was at a Target yesterday and she hadn't eatten since a fiber bar in the AM. She thought she would check out the little cafe in Target and they had Steel Cut Oats with Berries topping. She said they had other YOAD approved foods too!!!! I was so excitied....I normally pass the cafe and just walk out and now I find out they may have YOAD food.... I am going to check our Target and see what they have.
Cindy......like Patti....I can't believe you had time to check in. How awesome that you allow us to be part of your life and you share important events. :)

Hi Everyone ~

I'm a newbie here, Teri in No. California. I began my healthy eating/exercise new leaf on July 1, and have just lost my first 22 lbs. (my first mini-goal). I have quite a ways to go. This week I'll be setting a new mini-goal. That was a good motivator!

I happened to turn on Oprah a few weeks ago and saw Dr. Oz (the appearance before he swallowed the camera pill!). He was so impressive, and I ran out to the library and so far have read "YOAD" twice. So much great and new to me info.

I'm not super closely following the actual YOAD, but am relying on his advice in lots of ways. I've upped my fat content (olive oil), which has helped alot in avoiding being hungry. :carrot: And his advice to take a meal a day and "automate" it and eat the same thing, every day took a load off my mind. Eating healthier was challenging me, I was having trouble coming up with stuff to eat. Maybe that sounds weird, but ... It's SO easy having less choices...for now, anyway!

I'm doing Fit Day, aiming for 1200 - 1400 calories a day. I walk 4 times a week, about 6 miles (weekly total). Gone are the pizza and donut diet, now it's fruits/veg, whole grains, lean protein.

Dr. Oz's book makes so much sense to me, and I LOVE the way he focuses on the brain chemical / body "chain reaction" explanation of hunger, and how to eat to lose weight without being hungry.

I hope to get to know you ladies here and be a good support system for each other! :)
