Well, school starting has totally put a stop to my workouts this week :tantrum: I did get plenty of ped steps, though (12,000-22,000 each day since I started back on the 21st)! Today I took advantage of no one being home and did 3 Fast Miles. It felt great :cp: !

Today was a loooooong day, and my food was maybe not as good as it could have been, but I did do 1 mile Express with the stretchy band and I ran around the park for a good while with my niece.
I'm hoping I can get back OP with my food tomorrow. Right now, that's really what's killing me.

You Can Do Yoga is a great beginner video! Leslie goes through all the poses and the proper forms very thoroughly, and it moves at a slow, relaxing pace.
1mile Express again today for me. I'm going to ATTEMPT 2mile tomorrow. NOT Express.

Today I chose Walk Away Your Waistline, but I used double bands on my ab belt! I'm trying to follow this month's Walk Diet (from Leslie's site) and see if I can get back to the 180's, which I have done in more than 5 years!

Well, I kind of jumped in last month and then disappeared because of an out of town funeral and while gone, found out I am pregnant (still really early)!
I'd still like to stick around though..although, I will no longer be trying to lose weight...I guess I'll have to change my ticker!
Yesterday I did the 30 Minute Walk and today I did the Evening Mile (afternoon) then took a 35 minute walk outside this evening! I am SOOOO tired....we'll have to see how it goes....although, each time I exercise, I end up feeling 10x better!

Cassie, does the 3 Fast Miles have jogging or "boosted walking" in it? How long is it? I'm trying to get some new DVD's in my collection that are low impact and a bit shorter than the video's I've been doing over the past few months.
Also, can you, or anyone else tell me about the express walks..I only have the 4 Mile Super Challenge but am wondering how the other ones are....I'm assuming there is no boosted walking in them??? Also, I think I saw somewhere they use the stretchie??
Thanks!

Hey there! 3 Fast Miles doesn't have boosted walking (jogging), but it comes with a 2 mile walk that does have jogging intervals. The 3 fast miles is about 45 minutes long, but it's funner than most other 3 miles...they have grapevines, even mambos! It's pretty fun and goes by very, very fast. The interesting part is when she lets Mary Kay lead...but it's not that great because Mary Kay doesn't have a microphone, so you can't hear her, lol!
Still, I recommend it.
The express walks..I have all of those, and there are no jogging intervals in them..but they do all use the stretchie band...well, I know the 2&3 miles do, I haven't used the 1 mile. Have you used Walk & Jog or Walk & Kick? They're interval workouts, and I really enjoy them. :)
Hi II have a 15 minute mil dvd from LEslie does anyone have any good reccomendations for a super beginner?

KO: any of the 1 mile's from Leslie would be great for a super beginner!
MominWI: congrats on your pregnancy! All 3 of the main Express workouts use the stretchie. I'm not quite sure why they say the 4 mile Supper Challenge is part of the Express series, since it doesn't, but they're all great workouts.
There's a brand new 3 mile (just released this week) that uses weights, if you like that. It's called "3 Mile Weight Loss Walk". It's not for sale on Leslie's site (not sure why), but collage and amazon have it and I've heard that local Best Buy stores may have it, too. She also has a recently released 3 mile that uses the ab belt. It's called Walk Away Your Waistline. I love that one, too! Can you tell I'm addicted to Leslie's workouts?
This morning I did the 2 Mile Fast Start from Walk Slim. I haven't done one with the intervals in awhile and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Hi Daimere!
All of the WATP dvds are great, but if you're new to exercise, I'd being with any of her 1 mile walks. Many of them also come with 2 & 3 mile walks so you can work up to them. Look around on amazon or collagevideo.com, read the reviews and see what you think you'd like. Many of them also have boosters, so it's good to have a set of 2-3lb weights or a stretchie band as well. :)

Hi guys, today I did the 2 mile WATP (I haven't done it in so long...it was fun revisiting it)!
Cassie, I have done both Walk & Kick and Wack & Jog and I love them both as well...I don't want to do jogging right now but I've thought of doing the Walk & Kick...I'm actually going to talk to my OB about what I can do...I'm not worried about doing Leslie's lower impact exercise (before my appt) but anything with a lot of bouncing scares me..both of my girls were born early and although I had "easy" early pregnancies, I want to watch what I do! Oh, and I'm definitely going to buy 3 mile walk slim..I can save the 2 mile until after the pregnancy!
I may try the other express videos and am going to check out the new one on amazon.

Thank you. I'm just nervous to get one that I won't like. I got so many that I don't need any more that I won't use. So, I just want to make the right decision. I have 2-3 lb weights and stretchy bands, so I will be good in that department.

Hey girls! I can't remember if I posted my exercise yesterday or not, but I did 4 fast miles...well, MOST of it. My DVD skipped for some reason and it cut out about 10 minutes! i was so mad. I need to look into that before I attempt it again, it's brand new!
Also did some strength training yesterday.
Today, I did Walk & Jog this morning, and 2 Mile Express this evening.

Okay Ladies, after all your words of advice and a little addictive shopping from me, I have ordered:
The new 3 mile from Amzon
3 Mile Walk Slim (and doesn't that come with a get started and 2 mile..)
And, all of the Express Walks (except the 4 mile which I had)..I bought 2 of VHS for a MUCH better price since I plan on using them only through the pregnancy! I was tired last night but I think I got a 1 ml, 2 ml, 3 ml and Walk Strong..does that sound right?
I also ordered 3 pregnancy DVD's early this week so it's going to be like my birthday by next week!
Tonight, I skipped Leslie but I did walk for an hour on my treadmill.

Hey gang
I guess I should be posting my exercise over here. I use Leslie's dvds also. I just love them. I find what works best for me is to get up at 5 am and do 30 minutes of walking before getting ready for work. If I don't do it first thing, I just don't seem to get to it.
Hey MicheleL - remember me? I haven't talked to you in awhile but it's great to see ya! How are you doing?
Here's what I've done so far this month
Monday Sept 3 = 3 miles
used the new Walk Slim 3 mile
Wednesday Sept 5 = 2 miles
used the WATP 2 mile
Sept = 5 miles
2007 = 107 miles

Hi everyone,
Well, I woke up with TONS of energy and did the 4 Fast Miles...I did modify during the "boosted walking" period but I still felt like I got a good workout..if there is someone here or reading this that is nervous/unsure about moving up to the boosted walking workouts....I really did feel like I got a decent workout by modifying and just walking....so you would have a choice and can work up the jogging segments.
Cassie, with my first 2 pregnancies, I almost completely stopped exercising right when I found out I was pregnant. I also stopped counting calories during that time..I'm still counting now but am up to a maintaining level....I delivered both girls early so I think by my 3rd trimester (if not sooner), I'll have to take a break but I guess I learned that becoming sedentary and eating whatever I wanted for "9 months" isn't all that it's cracked up to be! I'm going to send you a PM about where you are in KS...that is where my husband is from!
Cathy...LOVE the Slim Walk program...along with the Advanced 5 miles..I think that is my favorite!

Cathy: Nice to "see" you again! Glad to hear you're still walking!
I've not had a good week. This new school schedule is going to kill me! I just CAN'T get up and do a workout in the morning and still get everyone off to school before 7:30! And by the time I get home, I've already walked over 12000 steps (or more) and just CAN'T do a workout after supper! I will do them on the weekends and TRY to squeeze some in during the week, but until I can get a better handle on this new schedule, I'm just going to be low on miles. To top it off, I have surgery on my right hand next week and don't know what restrictions the Dr. may place on me. More than Likely, I'll have to do treadmill or workouts without boosters for several weeks:( Life just SUCKS right now !
Sorry to be such a downer.......

hey gang
I cleaned house for 6 hours today so that is my exercise for the day. One of these days I'm gonna strap on a pedometer and see how many steps I take while cleaning. I figure it's a couple of miles but I don't add it into my monthly & yearly mileage. I just chalk it up as exercise for the day. ;)
Michelle - You are not a downer! I totally understand you being upset about your schedule and surgery. And I'm with you - I just can't get in a workout after supper. If I don't do it first thing - it just doesn't get done. You are so dedicated and hate for anything to get in the way of your workouts and that is great, but girl, if you are walking 12,000 steps in a day you may be getting enough exercise already. I sit at a desk all day so walking or doing Leslie's dvds are the only steps I get in, but you are getting more the recommended steps. You might have to cut yourself some slack while you are working so hard - and especially while you're getting thru surgery. I think I missed it - why are you having surgery on your hand? Why don't you post your steps here each day (when you have time of course). As you know, it all counts girlie ;-)
Daimere - let us know when your dvds come in. I picked up the new 3 mile at Best Buy yesterday. I must have about 20 of her dvds and I love them all ;-)
hope everybody has a great weekend!
hugs,
cathy

Just wanted to stop by and say Hi, your all doing great with the walking. I had to stop 2 days ago because of problems with my left foot....I am trying to rest it but if it's not better I will go to the foot dr. on Tues. It is something with the heel, maybe a tendon? Don't know but I sure miss doing my dvd.
Hope I'm back on track soon.

good morning gang
Got up at 5 and did 2 miles of the new 3 mile Weight Loss Walk that I picked up at Best Buy on Friday. I loved it. Wish I would have had time to do the whole things.
One thing I noticed tho - the back of the dvd gives a breakdown of a 15 minute mile, a 12 minute mile and then another 15 minute mile. But they were all 15 minute miles - the 2nd mile was not 12 minutes, but 15. Don't know why it's printed on there wrong - but it is ;)

I bought WATP a while back and used it for a few weeks and felt like it wasn't a hard enough workout to actually produce results. I am looking to get back into it and was wondering if it is the right workout for me. I am looking to lose around 15-20 pounds. Is this workout going to give me results or should I find something else?

I just force myself to do it...then, once you get the endorphins going, you just want more, more, MORE! Do them whenever you can! I do one workout around 8:30am, and then I'll do another around 4pm. I have 2 kids, so it varies.
Cheap DVD's...have you tried ebay? They are also sold on amazon.com and collagevideo.com....of course, there is Leslie's site herself that sells them, but they're a bit higher.

I ran across a set of the WATP dvds at a local thrift store. I had never heard of it before, but figured it could be just another addition to mix up my routines. I was underwhelmed at the start (felt like it was something my mom would like) but I kept going ... and it indeed intensified ... I felt it!!! It really has helped me manage endurance and at my size now ...I thought that was close to impossible. I've only managed to hit the 1 mile mark without wanting to pass out ...lol... but I love it and will continue going at it ...

Hi, ladies! Sorry I haven't been here in awhile. I had my surgery on Wed and things seem to be healing OK. I've been lazy and haven't done a formal workout since Sept 4 and I'm not sure I should do the arm movements with Leslie's workout yet (surgery was on my right hand). I will try to get on the treadmill this weekend.
Glad to see so many of you working out with Leslie! I'm going shopping today and while I'm out, I'm looking for her newest workout--3 Mile Weight Loss Walk! It uses weights and I've heard really good things about it on some of my other forums. Best Buy is supposed to have it for $12.99, so that's where I'll start. Amazon has it for $9.99, but I really don't need anything else from them to reach $25 for free shipping.
Keep walking and I'll be joining you SOON!

Thanks, Cassie!
I found the new 3 mile at Best Buy for $12.99. I can't do the weights yet, but I'm glad to have it for when I can.
I had a wonderful surprise when I weighed in for a challenge on another forum this morning! I lost 3 pounds this week! And that's WITHOUT formal fitness walking! Guess I needed to confuse my body and just rely on regular pedometer walking. I'm back to where I was when school got out on June 1 (had a bad summer), so now I can move forward to my goal of being at 180 by the end of the year! It feels so much more doable now!
I'm going to try the treadmill or a Leslie workout without the arm movements later today. We'll see how it goes with my hand. Hoping I can do something--I feel so LAZY without my workouts! :(
Have a great day!

Hi everyone,
I'm getting back to my weight loss effort after several months of stress and family emergencies. I know I need to take care of myself in order to take care of others so one thing I want to do is get back to doing my WATP. I know it was a key in my previous success. My goal is a least 10 miles a week to start with. So I want to join in all of you other WATPers to help keep me motivated!! I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with you all!

Hi everyone,
Sorry I've been MIA..I think I will be for at least another week or so...Unfortunately, there is a 85% chance I'm miscarrying...my hcg levels (pregnancy hormones) aren't doubling so I'm in the wait and see mode..things aren't looking good but I'm still pregnant and have been very tired and obviously a bit down....
I've been walking on my treadmill almost every day and will start doing Leslie again when I start feeling better....today I actually decided to break up my exercise into three segments and so I did "Stacy Style WATP." hehe...I do that sometimes where I just do my own routine...today they were both 20 minutes long!
Hope everyone is doing well and I'll be back soon! :)

Hi,
I did the 2 mile walk diet yesterday and this morning. I can tell I'm a little sore this evening. I've mostly been walking outside with dh this summer and the dvds are a better workout.

I did 2 mile today. I didn't even take off my MP3 Player. It made it more intense in some parts depending on the song. IRONICALLY, right before cool down a slow song starts. That was pretty awesome. I think I'm going to look into get a few more to shake things up. Although I don't think I'm ready for my 3 mile yet.
And from the other day, since it was a strength train day for me, I added weights. My arms just stopped hurting! WOW

You know what I find funny about Leslie's commentary? If you ever seen 10th kingdom, you might remember the trolls going "Nicey-nice." Whenever she says nice! Nice! I can only think of the trolls. Rofl

I just did 2 miles from the 5 mile dvd.
I exercised every day this week! :carrot: I haven't made it up early to exercise every day for the whole week since January so I'm excited about that.
But my scale is up several pounds this morning and I am NOT excited about that at all. *sigh* Apparently I need to do better on my eating. I'll be working on it.

Good morning, walkers! Sorry I've been MIA. I had surgery on my hand and had to wait for it to recover enough that I could move it freely.
So, for my first workout since the surgery, I chose the new 3 Mile Weight Loss Walk with 2 pound weights! It was AWESOME!!!! I highly recommend it!

Since I really liked the Walk Away the Pounds, I decided I would try Denise Austin's Indoor Walk. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE.
First of all, the way she accents her facial expressions maker her look insane. Usually the MP3 player drowns out Leslie but NOOOOT Denise!
Then, it takes alot more room than Leslie and way to dancy. You barely get into a move before you change to another. I just wound up pacing half of it. At least if I do the 18 minute Start it Up it goes quick. This 15 minutes was the longest 15 EVER. Even Turbo Jam didn't feel like that. I have not been this displease with a workout EVER.

Denise Austin gets on my LAST nerve, lol! I bought her "Female Fatzones" DVD, and I couldn't stomach it for long, lmfao.
This morning, I did Turbo Jam Cardio party ( had to modify...they are insane, lol)
This evening, I did a new one! I went to Wal-Mart today, and they are selling Walk Away Your Waistline WITH a walk-belt for only $12! I had to get it, so I did it tonight.:D

Hey Michelle - it's good to see ya! I'm glad your surgery went well. You must be recovering quickly to already be using 2 lb hand weights today. I love the new 3 mile dvd also! Picked it up at Best Buy after you mentioned it was there. :-)

Wow, your house must be immaculate now! Wanna come and do mine?
I posted about the walk belt in the thread that I started about it. Overall, I liked the workout, but I'm a huuuge leslie fan, so just about anything she does is golden as far as I'm concerned.;)
Honestly, I would have liked her to speed it up a bit more, as all of the miles are 15 minutes. :^:
I can't WAIT for my other DVD's to get here! I'm hearing awesome things about them on the Walk Club. Are any of you Walk Club members? Some of Leslie's walkers are actually on there as regular posters....sweet ladies.:)

My gym had some weird plumbing problem (don't ask. I didn't.) so I did the 3 mile WATP w/belt. It seems like I'm the only one who loves the inane chatter/banter between Leslie and Randy. I think it's the two mile where Randy basically flirts with "the good looking grandmother". It always makes me laugh so hard. Actually all the banter makes me giggle. I love Leslie, the corny music and the fact that nobody's hair every gets mussed up. Every time Leslie says, "The belt's working fo ryou." I howl. Even when I'm in the shower I think to myself, "Even though the belt's in my closet, it's working for me!"

Since I don't have time to weight train before i go back to work, I'm doing the 2 mile(with weights) as a deal to myself. Yes an extra 10 minutes really does matter when I have to get back dressed, have lunch and decompress before work!

10-01-2007, 12:22 PM
Hey Daimere - are you working out on your lunch hour? at the gym? or at work? I totally understand about only having a certain amount of time in your day to work out. that's great that you're doing it!
Hey Sharkys - I love Leslie and her chatter - the whole thing! I did one of her workouts last week with just the "music only" bec I really don't hear the music all that much since her voice seems louder than the music to me, but I just didn't enjoy it as much. I like her chipper chatty attitude ;-)
Well gang -I'm really in a bind here. I had a tooth that abscessed (again) and started bothering my Friday night and it has continued to get worse. I didn't get much sleep on Saturday night and last night I got even less - the good news is I can't eat ;) but I went to the dentist first thing this morning to get antibotics and pain pills and they even gave me a shot to try to numb it for a few hours and give me some relief. They xrayed it and will have to pull it on Thursday evening if the antibotics kick in like they should.
Needless to say - I'm in pain just breathing and I sure can't work out. There is just no way I can take the pounding of my heart beat in my tooth. I'm severely disappointed as last week was the first week I exercised every day. I was hoping to do the same this week - but oh well - life happens and gets in the way of my exercise plans. It is always something....
So I'm gonna be a slacker this week but it's honestly not by choice!

cathyxxx-I work with the before and afterschool programs with the YMCA(even though I get a free membership and live right down the street), I workout at home. I have my schedule set to were I do strength training on the days I do before and after school. It gives me 4 hours to work out but sometimes it's hard to pry away from the computer. I try to workout before the afterschool because that's more hectic and after chasing kindergarteners around I don't feel much like it. If I do feel like it, I don't have to worry about 30 minute HAVE TO and then I'll add a quick leslie workout(that's what I love about the 1 miles. ^_^) I hate my job sometimes but the schedule is almost perfect for me to fit in all my exercise. ^_^
