Lizziepie 01-02-2002, 11:19 AM Slavika: Guess we were posting at the same time. If I was clever I'd know how to put my post ever here. Oh well. HAPPY bIRTHDAY, TRUDY  Ann Deelite 01-02-2002, 11:33 AM HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TRUDY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! I wish you a wonderful day and year, to a very special lady! Dee LilyG 01-02-2002, 02:06 PM Happy Birthday to You!!!!!!! Karen: So sorry you have been so sick. Hope you get better soon. Not fun to be sick over the Holidays. Jenye & Maria: How fun you got to meet! Sounds like you had a great time! Slavika: I think it was Trudy that took them. I only stole Kyle. Thats it! I also think you are telling a fib about not being a good cook. You sound like a great one to me! Ann: No secert formula for getting back on track. Sometimes it is hard just try and think what you want more. That helped me in the past. Alas Im back at work :( So no time to play. Later! Yum Yum 01-02-2002, 02:26 PM Back to journaling! On the road to weight loss again. It must be so neat for the two of you to meet, Jenye and Maria, I would love to come over for a visit with you two! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRUDY!!!! Hope you have a lovely day and many more to come!   flaggies 01-02-2002, 05:05 PM G'day all, A bit late............... Happy Birthday Trudy Hope you had a great day. It was fun actually meeting someone face to face with whom you 'talk' through this forum. The trip going seemed to take forever as I went the long way:( but coming back after Jenye had told me where to turn off onto the freeway was quite a bit quicker. I have to just share that Jenye is very organised with her journals etc. and I feel sure she will be successful loosing the weight she would like to loose. Thank you for lunch Jenye and be kind to yourself.:) Ann dh is getting better and is now hobbling along with his cast still on but one stick, so that is an improvement. The chiro is just the nicest person and my back is improving considerably. She has also recommended someone for when I get to Sydney. Yes the wedding is getting very close :dizzy: . I just musn't think of everything that needs to be done between now and then and just go with the flow........easier said than done.:?: We are attending a wedding here in Melbourne on Saturday. The mother of the groom (parents are from Adelaide) has told me that she is getting cellophane packets with rose petals ready for dd wedding:) I thought that was very kind of her, there was no way I could have done it and thought we will just go without. The weather here is unbelievably cool for this time of the year. Something definetly strange with our weather patterns. Some of the bushfires in the Sydney area are still raging out of control but some have now been contained:) They are really wishing for the rain and cool weather we have had here. Have a great day all Cheers Maria painter5 01-02-2002, 07:23 PM Happy Birthday Trudy, Hope you had a wonderful day and you don't look a day over 39. :smug: Jenye and Maria how nice for you to meet. I think it would be fun for all of us to meet. Maybe someday. Maria when is the wedding? I know it is in the next few weeks. Slavika I know that you are really an excellent cook. The recipes that you post are too good. I stopped in my nieces mailroom today and ended working for 3 hours. People are still sending Christmas packages. I think they waited to get the after Christmas sales and are sending late. She was packing the most gorgeous Waterford crystal and Rookwood pottery to send out. I stayed away from that cause I was afraid that I would break it. Have to run, see you all later, slavika 01-02-2002, 08:02 PM  Hi Everybody Well my life is right back to normal . I went out with my friend that I see every Wednesday, and had a great day. The stores look naked........the Christmas decorations are down, a lot of the mannequins just have bags over them and the only sizes left on the racks are from size 2 to 8. LOL :D "In my dreams". I talked to Trudy today and she was having just a lovely day. :) Looks like you are all getting back to regular "life stuff". Have a nice evening. Trudy 01-03-2002, 12:02 AM Thanks for all the Birthday wishes, hard to believe I actually turned 60 today. I did have a wonderful day, the sun was shining and from the moment I woke up nice things were happening :) . I opened the gift from Slavika this morning, she always comes up with something wonderful... a Journal Jar with Precious Preserves inside. There are over 80 "Topic Triggers", each with an intriguing question or phrase for me to respond to in my journal (which she also gave me). I will certainly enjoy that. She also gave me a Sun Catcher with a hummingbird and carnation on it. Just lovely. In the afternoon Dee came by and surprised me. She had a gift too, a beautiful card she made and magnetic picture frames so I can put up even more pictures on my fridge :D... My DH took me out for dinner and in the evening my family came over. Lots of gifts and good wishes. My DD gave me a beautiful Swarovski swan pin... I got phone calls, and e-mails. All in all, I think I will enjoy the 60's ... certainly have had a good start. Tomorrow is DE-FLUFF day. Lily I feel so "fluffy" I can't stand it .. :( Alas, I have to get back OP immediately. I think that I will have to skip the first WW meeting on the 8th, I will probably need a bit more time to get legal again. Karen So sorry you haven't been well. That is not a good way to lose weight by being ill. There are so many "bugs" around now, hope you can shake it. Goodnight all, see you tomorrow .... flaggies 01-03-2002, 12:48 AM Thought I would just check in and see what was new. Sounds like you had a fantastic 60th Trudy and thoroughly spoilt, good for you.:) As I was walking back from town this afternoon I realised we have only two more weekends in Melbourne:) It seemed such a long way away when we first arrived here and now our time for leaving is almost there. Peggy our daughter's wedding is January 26, which also happens to be Australia day. A bit of trivia for you:) Better organise something for dinner. See ya all tomorrow Cheers Maria LilyG 01-03-2002, 12:03 PM Maria: Sounds like your DH is doing good after the surgery. The Wedding is very close! You will be so busy when you do get back. Peggy: Whooooo Waterford and Rookwood pottery. They would of ended up in my purse :D Pretty stuff! I wouldnt want to pack it either. I would be afraid. Slavika: Its kind of sad when all the decorations go away. They are always so pretty. We were going to San Francisco this year to look at the decorations as they always seem to go all out. But we never made it due to the rain. ALAS. Always next year! Trudy: Oh what a wonderful Birthday you had! Love hummingbirds. All your gifts sound lovely! Yep De-Fluff for sure! I think I will be back to normal by my WI Sat. It feels like it anyways. So Im keeping my fingers crossed. Have a great day all! Lizziepie 01-03-2002, 08:11 PM Sunny Florida is cold!!! Frost is forecast for tonight. But we don't have to shovel.:D Glad you had such a nice birthday Trudy. You are doing well if you will get legal by your next weigh-in. It is going to take me some time, since I wasn't legal before the holidays. Love hummingbirds. They are such unique little birds. and pretty feisty for their size. How nice for you that Slavika and Dee are close by. Do you have a lot of snow? 60 is good. Maria: How time flies. It is good that your DH will be in good shape to walk his daughter down the aisle. Glad your chiropracter is doing good things for you. I go to a massage therapist about every three weeks, and I'm sure that is what is keeping me from being stiff and having back problems like I had before. Hi all; talk to you tomorrow. Ann flaggies 01-04-2002, 12:04 AM G'day all, I went for my walk today and decided to try out another hairdresser. I had my hair cut and coloured, it looks OK but it cost me a mint:( , over $200 . I am a very 'do it yourself' person and very seldom have my hair coloured professionaly. Oh well, I guess once in a while to confirm to myself that I don't do a bad job colouring it myself is OK.:D Ann A massage every three weeks, what bliss:) I am sure it would keep you feeling good. I used to regularly have a massage when I lived home, that night I used to sleep like a baby. It is a good thing that it is more and more recognised as being very beneficial for ones health. More friends arriving tonight from Adelaide for the wedding of the son of friends tomorrow. A busy weekend. Just watching a news update and more fires have broken out near Sydney :( Firemen all over the world seem to be a very special breed, volunteers are coming to the Sydney area from all over Australia. Hope everyone is well. Cheers Maria survivor 01-04-2002, 09:39 AM Maria - what you said about the fires really just astounds me. More? The situation sounds so severe. Yes, I do believe firemen are an astounding breed and we might be finally ready to acknowledge them as such. I go to a chiropractor now. For years I suffered from severe headaches and soreness in my shoulders and neck. I went very regulary for about 3 months and now I only go when I have the start of a headache. It is amazing. I go in felling like crap and walk out feeling so good. So nice that insurance carriers recognize how beneficial a chiropractor can be. Trudy - didn't get in on the birthday wishes, but know you had a great day. Sounds as if your family appreciates you. So, are you getting a handle on the GERD (might have misspelled that)? Lily - you weren't too bad if you can get back to your weight by wi time. You and my sister! You are both astounding. When I get my weight off, I am going to be careful too. Barbara has been at her weight for a year and half and watches it very carefully. I just admire anyone who can keep it off. That is the hardest part. Slavika - when do you depart for the islands? We will miss you. We got all our decorations down and packed up except for the yard. I just dread going back to a dreary dark yard. Wish we could keep them up during January, at least. I just did something I just hate to do. I made my appointment for my 6 months checkup--mind, that is only making the appointment. Now I get to dread the actual exam and it isn't until the 28th. I do very well until the month rolls around when I get the blood test that tells if I am still in remission. Would appreciate it if you said a little prayer for my anxiety and for the results. Glenda Yum Yum 01-04-2002, 09:45 AM Glenda, I wish you well, and I will pray for your test to be postive. My brother has Multiple Myeloma and it is time for his next test, I know how difficult it is to have to wait for such a test. How are all you ladies? I am doing well, very motivated. I am constantly searching for new recipes and made the family low fat key lime pie for dessert the other day. Boy that was good! The sun is shining here today but the temps are really cold it is 21 right now. I am going to get out and take my walk though, once I get walking I stay warm anyway! Have a good day all! LilyG 01-04-2002, 11:52 AM Ann: You gotta love that not shoveling snow! :D Its cold here to but nothing like what the others have. But I do not miss the snow!!!! I would love the massage every 3 weeks. Maria: Oh my goodness......Thats alot for getting your hair cut and colored. Are they getting any closer to getting those fires contained? I have to agree, Firemen are a special breed. Glenda: I was bad, but if I get right back on the next day I do fine. I was way over points on Christmas, so the next day I ate really low. Then we went to dinner on friday. I had what I wanted and then the next day ate low again. This works for me and helps keep me in control. Its the days I dont get right back on that gets me in trouble. So I try not to have to many of those. Sometimes it is hard tho and mostly around Holidays when there is so much going on. I will be praying for you to until you get the tests done. I know this is always hard and the waiting makes it harder. Maria/Yum: Im always on the look out for new recipes to. I hate to get bored with the same old things all the time. ;) Have a great day all! Ash 01-04-2002, 11:56 AM I am just kidding. Here in Victoria it is cold and rainy, whilst in Sydney those awful bushfires are rageing. It is 12 days now and new ones are breaking out all over the place. We are expecting a 35 degree celsius day on Sunday and NSW have allowed our firefighters to come home and prepare. I hope that we will not need them. Maria - $200.00 does sound very expensive for what had done at the hairdresser, but still as you say it is only occasionally. Have a nice time at the wedding on Saturday. I hope that your DH is OK. Maria /Yum - Your lime pie sounds scrumptious can I have the recipe please. Trudy - A HAPPY BELATED 60TH BIRTHDAY. Sorry that this greeting is a l;ittle late but my best wishes go with it. Being 60 is where we begin life by thinking 1 day at the time ahead and living life to its fullest. Glenda - Good luck in your tests. We are all praying for good results. Well folks I had better go back to bed now as it is 3.52am and I could not sleep, maybe now I will be able too. Take care all. Ash/Jenye.[B] slavika 01-04-2002, 04:27 PM  Hi Everybody I thought I would come by and see you, since I seem to be making a lot of trips into my kitchen looking for stuff to eat. :( I finally made myself a bowl of plain chicken broth with some cooked pasta (I had on hand). I hope that keeps me going until dinner time. :) For lunch I had cottage cheese with some peaches and I guess that just wasn't enough for me. We get the grandchildren today at 6:00 for a sleep over. I love having them, and they are so excited to come. One of the things we got them this Christmas was sleeping bags, so they are bringing them with them. They bring so many of their little treasures with them you would think they were coming here for 10 days. LOL :D Luvacat/Anne I hope you find your way to our board. :) Maria the fire situation is awful. I hear there are more fires now. I sure hope it rains soon. January 26th, will be here before you know it. Time sure did go fast, from when you first told us about the wedding. Ann I don't understand what is going on with the weather these days. I know you guys are getting cold weather, and for a change we are not too badly off. It's still winter of course, but for a change we aren't freezing our Butts off. Course we could still get a lot more snow and a lot lower temperaters. Glenda didn't you used to go for testing every 3 months? Maybe the longer you are in remission you don't have to go so often. I'll sure be thinking about you. I'm sure your results will be fine like they were the last time, but I know the waiting is really hard. We leave for Maui on February 6th. and get back home on March 5th. I looked up the temperatures in Maui for the next week and it's going to be around 80 each day. LOL :D it's always 80 in Maui. The reason I looked today, was because my friend leaves tomorrow. Her and her husband will be there a month before us and stay a extra month, after we have gone. Maria/Yum one of the gals at WW brought a dessert in the day we had our Christmas party and I made it today, and thought you might like this recipe. I hope I didn't post it already. Anyway, here it is: Jello Light Dessert Line a 8"x8" pan with 12 low fat graham crackers (6 pts) Mix together: 1-1/2 to 2 cups plain yogurt (first time I used 1-1/2 and thought I would like it better with 2 cups and not so thick) 1 pack sweetner 1 sliced banana (or other fruit as you like) 1 pkg. Instant Light Pudding (like Butterscotch (that's what I used) Pour the above mixture over the crackers. Then mix 1 pkg of Light Strawberry Jello (or other flavor) with 1 cup boiling water. Then add about 6 or 7 ice cubes to the hot mixture until ice is melted to make 2 cups liquid. Pour the jello over the pudding mixture. Allow to chill in fridge until set or over night. Then top with 2 cups or so of Light Coolwhip and sprinkle with coconut if desired. Depending on the yogurt you use the points work out to around 12 to 15 points for the whole recipe. Ash/Jenye this not sleeping thing must have something to do with our age....I had trouble sleeping last night too. :( flaggies 01-04-2002, 06:25 PM G'day all, Not too bad a day for the wedding of our friends son, sunny and expected to be about 25 degrees. I am quite pleased with my hair, it is that 'organised' messy look, if you know what I mean;) Glenda I know what you mean about the tests, I am having mine whilst I am in Adelaide on the Wedsneday after the wedding. I feel fine and 'know' everything is fine but I always feel a little anxious and always pleased to get the all clear again. I'll be thinking of you and sending you lots of positive vibes from down-under. Slavika when you get to Hawaii we will be arriving in Sydney. I hope you are able to find an internet cafe nearby and keep us posted how life in Hawaii is treating you. Jenye Boy that is up late  It will be quite hot here tomorrow but then thunderstorms are forecast:( DH did have a bit of a shock when I told him about the price of having my hair done! Makes the 'do-it-yourself' kit of $ 15.00 look very reasonable:D Next time! I have a lot of recipes to catch up on when I eventually get home for good! They all sound pretty good. The Sydney fires are still going, it is unbelievable, especially when we were in the places that have been burnt out, so recently.:( They have so far arrested 28 people that have been charged with lighting fires. It is a bit disturbing that many are teenagers.:( I am off to try and improve my canasta rating. I was doing so well and have now fallen into a huge hole:?: Have a great weekend all Cheers Maria painter5 01-04-2002, 06:48 PM Glenda I will be thinking of you and keep you in my prayers. Waiting is the hardest part. Trudy you had a nice birthday. 60 isn't so bad. I still don't feel that old. I remember when I was young and thought 30 and 40 were really over the hill. Maria saw pictures of the fires. I really don't understand what kind of thrill people get from starting them. I saw where a lot of them were teenagers. Here's hoping for rain to help put them out. I bet your new do is cute. I like the messy look. My dh is glad that he is retired. He says that is a young man's job. Glad to see that firemen are getting respect now. People think that all they do is sit around the firehouse and play cards and things. Have fun at the wedding. Well Slavika that must be a hard thing to do and leave the cold to go to Maui. I feel for you. I am really jealous. But I guess that someone has to do it. We have been having a mild winter too. It just cold in the last few weeks. They are saying snow over the weekend. Hopefully it will go right on by. It is only pretty in the grass. Maria Yum a lowfat key lime pie sounds good. Please post the recipe. Lily the Waterford was gorgeous. There was a big pitcher. I would love to have stuck that in my purse. They have a Waterford rep come in to the mailroom. She gave them pins. They gave me one. It is a seahorse. We were laughing because it didn't look like Waterford. We thought it looked like something from Big Lots. Rookwood pottery was made here in town. The old place is now a restaurant. It is fun to go to. They have tables in the big old kilns. But I wish they still made the pottery. Well I have chatted about nothing long enough. Have a nice weekend. Ash 01-04-2002, 08:01 PM This one this time I am just practising as I am not sure about all this BOLDING, FONT SIZE AND COLOR. Maria showed me but , as usual, I have forgotten, so therefore I am practising. Anyone else wish to help me??? Lizziepie 01-04-2002, 09:57 PM Everyone has all their tropical type plants covered tonight. And the strawberry crop will all be iced to save them. That has always been a strange thing for me to understand. Coat them with ice, and they don't spoil. Glenda: will keep you in my prayers. I agree the waiting is the nerve-wracking part. But I'm sure you will be fine. Slavika: what combination of pudding and jello did you use? I was thinking of vanilla and either strawberry or raspberry. I t sounds like an interesting dessert. Maria Yum, I too would be interested in the key lime pie. Peggy: I gather your dh is a retired fireman. After 9/11 suddenly people thought about firemen in a whole new way. And it is too bad, because it is not an easy job, and they take risks always. Lily: you sound like you have a handle on keeping at goal. I didn't do that early on and now I have pounds to lose, all over again. It is so frustrating. Maria: I think I would have fallen over in a faint, when I received a bill for $200 for my hair-do. But glad you like it, and it is fun to splurge once in a while. I have about made up my mind to go natural but not sure if I can stand all the gray that is coming to light. Time will tell, if I wimp out and go back with the reverse frosting type of color. Gray sure does change the kinds of color that one wants to wear. Bright colors are good. Karen: I'll take your words to heart. I can't go to WI tomorrowm as I have to be at our club house to help take down all the Christmas decorations, and then prepare pizza for all the workers. I'm not eating any. I have some lovely vegetable/lentil soup to eat when I get back to the house. Ash: just keep practicing. You will get the hang of it. Byenow, going to ge booted. Ann slavika 01-04-2002, 11:07 PM Hi Ann I sent you an e-mail about the Jello dessert. I think if any of you gals are going to try it, you could use any combination of pudding and jello that strikes your fancy. I am now thinking of using vanilla pudding with maybe lemon jello. I don't know what I could use for a fruit though. :?: Maybe blueberries........ Night all. Deelite 01-05-2002, 12:09 PM Hi I just lost my post...some where in cyber space.:( That is so frustrating. It has been busy around here. The kids go back to school on monday. My DH has been sick but not sick enough that I will cater to his every need.:D My parents just left for Texas. They were home for 2 weeks at christmas. They have a trailor home that they live in for our cold winters. They will be back at the end of march. We sure do miss them while they are gone. We hace been waiting for a hutch to be made for a year now....it was an anniversary gift for our 20th. The guy that was making it decided he is to busy. So we just brought over our drawings to another colony that makes oak furniture. We had a lovely oak table and chairs built by this guy for our anniversay just that he is so slow we waited a long time for it. Glenda....you are in my prayers. Just think positive....I know what it is like having this on your mind. Maria.....Yikes that is an expensive hair-do. But we all know that you are worth it. I am sure it must look nice. I have friends in Sydney that says the fires are terrible. I don't know why kids would do such a thing! I sure hope that you get rain soon. Slavika....that jello dessert sounds yummy.....is that what we will be having for tea time? Ann....we could always send some of the white stuff your way with Slavika's tree skirt....I sure hope that none of the fruit froze! Have a good day Ladies.
