Hello...i am 20 years old...and am considering a tummy tuck...the only thing keeping me from that is my lack of credit.....does anyone know a company who will finance someone for cosmetic surgery with not so great credit?? (i mean like in the 550's)
Most plastic surgeons' offices work with several different finance companies. There are lots of finance companies for PS out there. I'd suggest that you find a plastic surgeon who you feel comfortable with (most important!), decide on what needs to be done, and then discuss financing with his/her office manager. I'm sure that they will be able to help you out.
Good luck!

i have found my surgeon...but his office deals with cap one....and they have declined me.....im in dire need of this surgery...i can afford to pay payments...
even with high intrest rates....but i feel as though if i dont do this i will never stick to a diet.....its the most depressing thing i struggle with...not matter how much i loose.....and no matter how hard i work.....no matter how many stomach crunches i do...i have way to much skin to ever shrink back to my body....so i feel like the whole reason of dieting is pointless for me at this moment!
I'm so sorry! I know how discouraging the excess skin is. Would you consider other surgeons?
Also, may I ask a question -- but please feel free to tell me to butt out.
Are you considering a TT now or are you going to wait until you reach your goal? I see you have 38 pounds to go -- waiting until those pounds are gone could make a big difference in your surgical results. If you got a TT now, you might discover that you still have excess skin once all the weight is gone. Most PS's advise patients to wait until they're at a stable goal weight before surgery.
Could you save your money as you finish losing weight and have surgery be your reward for reaching goal? :)

I'm confused - you started at 190 and you are at 183 - how does your surgeon think that 20 pounds of your weight is excess skin. Did you lose a lot more prior to the 190 start ?? If not - are you sure this is a reputable surgeon ????

I am confused as well. I have lost 74 pounds and I have mostly tight skin. Once I get to goal I may have a little loose skin. But 20 pounds NOW? Or even 20 pounds from now?

One thing I'd encourage you (or anyone else!) to do is start self financing. Put aside a certain amount every month into a high interest savings account, there are many 5% online money market/savings accounts. $500/month could easily turn into over $6,000/year. In 5 years, you'd have over $30k. Even if you have to delay your surgery for a few years, it is something to think about.

OK - makes a LITTLE more sense - and I know everyone is different - 20 lbs seems like WAY too much weight to plan on it being. I know people - and have read MANY on here - who have lost far more than what you have done and are doing - GREAT JOB BY THE WAY - and lost nowhere near that much in excess skin. I think your surgeon is being overly optimistic. I know it sounds tempting that you could knock off 20 lbs but from what I've read you will have considerable swelling and such for a while and I agree with others that you would do better to actually reach your goal first. I know every little bit that I lose changes the contours of my body - sometimes really oddly and other times things seem to be more "back to normal". You never know what even 10 lbs more would do for you !
