Hi Everybody
I am fighting with a cold AGAIN. :( Tonight we are invited to a friend's for dinner. I called her yesterday to tell her I was not feeling so great, but she said to wait until this morning to call her, and maybe I would feel better. I'm not sure that I feel any better, but I don't think I feel worse either so I think I'll tell her we will come. Tomorrow night we are going to the Country Club for a New Year's Eve Dinner. We are going for the early seating, and later to our friends place if I am feeling ok. :)
Maria Gosh that is hot weather you are having. I think I told you that we Canadian's use the metric system too, and 37 is HOT. Your DD's wedding is getting closer and closer. :)
I was planning on taking down the Christmas tree and decorations today so the my DH could help me put the things away. Talk to you all later.

Jenye: Thats so great that you and Maria got to talk on the phone! Bet your son is going to love the new house. I love old houses they have so much chacacter! The lawn doesnt excite me tho. Im ready to cement out entire yard :) Gettng teird of pulling weeds!
Peggy: That Florida Grapefruit sounds wonderful. Australian wine is good. At least the ones I have had. They have some here at Trader Joes that have been really good!
Slavika: Thanks for starting the new thread! Im fighting a cold to. The other night I woke up at 2:00 AM sweating, could not get back to sleep so I went to the couch and watched TV all morning. They had all these English shows on. Havent seen them in a while. But what a way to spend the wee hours of the morning. Sounds like you have a great News Years planned!
Maria: Send some of that heat here! Its been raining here pretty much Non stop for 3 days. Getting old.
Have a great day all! Im gonna veg out on the couch again. Hopefully this cold wont get to bad.

Slavika & Lily: My massage therapist gave me a natural remedy to shorten up the days one fights with a cold, and it surely worked for us. Take Echinnacea(spelling) with goldenseal. We took six a day. Also take six garlic tabs, like Kyolic, or your own brand. She says the garlic acts like a natural antibiotic, and the Echinnaceaand golden seal are decongestants and helps boost the immune system. She also reccommended taking 1 teaspoon of Crystal River hot sauce two or three times a day, when you first get that scratchy feeling. I didn't try that since hot sauce and I do not agree. But the other method does work, at least it did for us. Hope you find this remedy helpful.
Peggy, I'm with you. I am sick of sweet stuff. I long for some good crisp salads. My dh thinks I'm a bit wierd, since he is not a salad person at all.
Maria and Ash: How nice that you can chat and hopefully get together. Maria, the wedding is just around the corner. Hope you will have some pics for us later.
We have planned to go to our clubhouse New Years Eve party, but now my dh brother and wife may be here, so that may not be what our plans will turn out to be. One thing I know, we never stay up late.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!
Thanks for the new thread. 'See you tomorrow' :wave:Ann

Our New Year's plans have changed somewhat. Our friends called this morning to cancel. She has a terrible cold and he feels like it is starting with him too. Just as well they stay home. We will pick up a movie and something really tasty for dinner and make it a cozy evening with just the 2 of us. :)
Too bad you have come down with a cold too Slavika. Take care of yourself, and I guess I will see you next year..
I sure hope all of my friends on this board have a wonderful New Year. I wish you good health, happiness and prosperity (not to mention big losses in the wieght department).
Take care all... Trudy..

G'day all,
I have just come back from the chiropractor and starting to feel a bit better. Another visit next Thursday.:(
Interestingly she said the area where my back is quite bad is where the nerves are for ones metabolism. She asked if I thought my metabolism was sluggish. I said to her nearly everyone that is overweight will say that they don't eat that much ;) and I don't consider myself a big eater but the weight comes off very slowly:( Who knows this maybe an added bonus to getting my back fixed, having my metabolism speed up a bit!
We also went out to lunch with some friends that are over from Adelaide for their son's wedding.
The weather was perfect, a bit cooler than it was the other day. It is now becoming quite overcast and showers are forecasted for tonight:(
What is this with you all having colds :?: :dizzy: Hope you are all feeling better, a few champagnes will do the trick :D
Jenye your son's house sounds lovely, I love Ballarat, it is the prettiest town. For those not familiar, Ballarat was a goldmining town with a lot of history and about 2 hours drive from Melbourne. I am not really all that familiar with Melbourne, are you closer to Ballarat or am I?????
I really hope we can get to meet up before our return to Adelaide, I worked out it is about 50 km from where I am.
It certainly won't be for lack of trying:)
I wish for everyone like Trudy
Health, Happiness and Prosperity in the year 2002 for your selves and for all those that are near and dear to you
Cheers
Maria
A New Year is upon us at midnight tonite, but that is only here in the land downunder. You have to wait, but only for a few hours.
Ted has gone out to buy some champagne for us to drink at midnight other than that - nothing but the usual of watching the celebrations on TV. Maybe that is good because we have many lunatics over here out on our roads on New Years Eve, and I would not like to be out.
I still cannot work out how you answer every one's questions so easily maybe somebody could let me know. I find that I forget what has been said very quickly unless I print out the posts and that takes a lot of paper. There are many things that I still have to come to grips with.
Thank you for taking me into your group with such ease it only makes things, such as losing weight, much easier, and I feel that I am one of you even although there are many miles between us.
Love all you guys.
Ash.:D :D :dizzy: :o :s:

Ash/Jenye: You do not have to worry about keeping up with us. You dont have to answer us all either. It really does take time. Once you spend some time here It will be natural. So dont worry about that stuff.
Just relax, as Slavika says have a cup of tea and talk. Thats what it is all about. Getting to know each other. We are here to help where we can. Relax and enjoy!
Happy New Year!
Love you guys, you have been there when I need it.
Here is to friends next year!!!

Ash: At first I made notes, so I could remember names and places, but after a while you do get to know who is who and where.:D At least most of the time.
This is a most helpful loving group of cyber friends. If you need help or support, there is always someone there to provide. I feel like I've known these 'gals' forever.
My New Years resolution also is to get skinnier. I won't even talk about Weigh-in this week. Needless to say, the de-fluffing had not started yet.:p
'See' y'all next year. Gods' Blessings on each and everyone for a healthy, happy, thinner New Year. So long for now. Ann

G'day everyone,
Nice to see all the posts with the many good wishes for the New Year.
Our New Years Eve was lovely, rather quite but that is how we liked it:) . Our daughter and fiancee came over about 10 and stayed for a little while before walking into town for the festivities. We watched the fireworks on our balcony whilst toasting the arrival of the New Year. Last year has been an interesting one for us and we wondered what will be in store for us this coming year.
About 2 in the morning dd and fiancee returned, we had a toast with them and then we all went to bed.
In the morning I made scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast :)
Tomorrow I'll be taking dh to the physio and then to his work. I will email Jenye to see if she isn't too busy and I will drive out to visit her. :) There is such little time for me in Melbourne now but I really would like to go and say 'hi' in person before I leave.
It has been a very wet New Year's day here and very cool. I just received a call from a friend in Sydney who told me that it was still 37 degrees (7 pm) and no sign of rain. The fires are just heartbreaking and they still have not been brought under control
:(
I am off to play a bit of canasta, see ya all
Cheers

Maria: I sorry to hear that the fires are still out of control. Hope you get to visit Jenye. That would be great to meet!
Our night was pretty quite. Watched a movie had a toast at midnight and thats it! Just the way I like it.
Spent the day taking down the Christmas decorations and cleaning house. :(

 Hi Everybody
We had a nice dinner at the Country Club last night. I had Chicken Nurenburg, and DH had a Filet Mignon. Dessert was all pies.......I chose banana cream, DH chose Chocolate silk. :)
We did go to our friend's place after dinner but did not stay until midnight. My friend plays the guitar (a little bit) and has a nice voice and we had sort of sing song. I sing very much like a frog. :D We got home around 11:15 or so, and they phoned us at midnight and wished us Happy New Year. LOL :D
Today I had my kids/and grandkids over for Brunch. I made "Cheese Crepes" (yesterday) and I serve them with sour cream and strawberry jam, and also had back bacon and eggs. shrimp, fresh fruit, scones and muffins. I tried to use up as much of my stuff as I could, so I could have some room in my fridges. It was a big HORKIN brunch Peggy . Dishwasher is running, and I think DH will have to fend for himself for the rest of the day. I don't think either of us will need too much more. :) So once again,
The very best to all of you, in this brand New Year we are starting

Don't anybody faint, But I am here to post. With the holiday's and meetings and lots of people in my little house there just was never enough hours in the day. Plus on top of all that I haven't been in there greatest of health. I did feel a bit better yesterday. So was able to finally get the wash caught up. Then we took the youngest son and his wife out to an early dinner. Home by 7:30 and spent the rest of the evening watching movies while covered up with my heated throw. Minnesota has been so coooold! Today we cleaned the freezer the fridge and uncluttered three cupboards. Then I spent some time in here rearranging all my WW inventory. So that DH can find his way to the treadmil. I still have no appetite :( I think I've lost close to 5 pounds in the last 3 or 4 weeks that I've been ill. No a good way to lose weight i don't reconmend it at all. Just can't seem to choke down the food. What I do eat I have to force myself to swallow. I've made a appointment with my doctor for Monday. But am hoping I get back to normal before I really have to go.
Wish I could have felt better earlier so I could have given you all the Anchor phrase that I gave to my WW groups for this past week. We talked about refocusing on our weight loss goals and the phrase was to help each one of them bring to the surface that weight loss goal each time they heard it. It was only three words but they and you have been hearing nd saying them a lot for the past week "HAPPY NEW YEAR"
I sure hope it worked for them . Weight losses last week were pitiful.
Well I'm not sure if I welcomed all the new comers to our board. Can't remember that far back:o but just in case. Welcome we are glad to have you here.
Well I guess I've babbled on long enough.
I'll check in with later or tomorrow when I get home.

Karen, hope you are feeliing better soon. This is no way to start the New Year. The heated throw sounds nice. I have never seen one of those. I am always cold and it is probably no where near as cold here as it is where you are. Slavika you did have a horkin big feast. One day I would like to be there for it. You sound like a fantastic cook. We turned in early last night. I didn't even hear the celebrations around us. Today we went to my niece's and I pigged out. No more. Time to de-fluff. See you all tomorrow,
G'day all
I am here at Jeney's place showing off my skills:D :D , just kidding!
We have had a nice lunch and lots to chat about, I am not know for being lost for a word :D
Must be off again, so Hi from the both of us
Cheers

Jenye and Marie Ahhhhh....how nice that the two of you got to spend some time together. I think that's great. :) :) Karen sorry you are still not feeling too good. Do you think it's a flu bug you have?
I'm almost over my cold......but that's really all it was, although I managed to feel fairly crappy with it anyway. :(
Peggy I'm not really a great cook, I just make a "few" things well, so I make them over and over and over....well you get the idea. LOL :D Maybe one day, you and I will have lunch together like Maria and Jenye, and I will make the crepes for you. :)
I somehow lost all my avatars. I think actually Trudy took them or maybe Lily , :D :D
"See" you all tomorrow. Night all.
Hi everyone, Happy New Year to you all.
Today Maria came out for a visit. It was lovely to meet one of you in person. We had a wonderful time talking and she gave me a few pointers on the computer. Thank you Maria. I wish you well when you return to Adelaide for your daughters wedding and then go to Sydney. Now that I have met you I wish that we could visit some more. :)
We had a very quiet New Years Eve and were in bed by 12.45am, that is why my children call us old but we think that we are sensible.?:?:
Maria Yum - thanks for your advice about scrolling down to see the messages. Maria showed me when she was out as I wasn't quite sure what you meant.
Well all, I'd better go now and will speak to you all later.
Love,
Ash/Jenye

Hi All-
Maria-Ash: How nice that you could get together for a chat. Golly, Maria the days are flying past and it will soon be wedding time. How are you doing with the chiropracter? And how is your dh doing with his cast? You mentioned him going to work, so things must be going well.:)
Slavika: I too think you must be a fantastic cook. And you surely know how to make many things. Just think of all the recipes you have shared with us. And I think you like to cook, also. That does make a difference. I have some friends who hate to cook and do it as little as possible. I like to cook, too. But that becomes a problem in the wieght dept. :D
Our New Years Eve was pleasant, but we didn't stay to the end of the party. We did see the planet Jupiter. Guess it won't be that visible for another 80 years. Yesterday my bil and sil came for the afternoon and evening, on their way further south. So we had a pleasant time with them, went out to dinner, and then to Cypress Gardens to view all their Christmas lights. It is really spectacular.
Karen: sorry you have been feeling so punk. Hope your Dr. can help you out. That is definitely not a good way to lose weight.:nono: A heated throw would be very nice for those cold nights. Don't really need one here. But the past few days havae been cold for us. When the temp gets down into the 40s that is cold.
I seem to be having trouble getting motivated to get back on track. I know I have to do it, but:p Any secret formulas out there?:D See you later. Ann

My goodness, girls, I have been reading your posts. I have only been gone 11 days and it has taken me forever (working also) to read all your posts. You all have been busy.
The New Year is here and I am back to work. Yuck! But I didn't dread coming back--maybe because we just had such a nice break. We either had company or we were company. We just played way too much. We have seen "The Majestic", "Kate and Leopold", "Joe Somebody", and "The Lord of the Rings." The only one I really, really liked was "Kate and Leopold." but the others were okay.
I am trying to defluff also. I did so well until Christmas Eve and then it was "Katie, bar the door." I hate taking one step and then two backwards.
Jenye - you and Maria are so lucky to have met. I also post to an ovarian cancer site and have met a lady who works across our parking lot. What a coincidence! But nobody here is even from Oklahoma. Oh well, just love you all anyway. Sure gives you a new perspective to talk to others all over the globe. Like, your summers. We are 10 degrees below freezing here and you all are hot. I heard about the fires in Australia, something like 100 and only a few under control. What were people thinking to set fires!
I also am joining the ranks of those with a cold. THey sure make you feel like crap, don't they? Maybe it is just coming back to work. Karen, your sickness sounds awful. Glad you are going to the doctor. Two years ago my dh had the flu and thought he was dying. He hasn't missed a flu shot since. We were off work for 2 weeks and he was sick for 10 more days. And then it took awhile for him to feel whole.
Happy New Year and good luck on getting back into the routine.
Glenda
