Everybody Have A Great Day!

I know Tim will be fine. I think I"m more disappointed than he is! lol

Anne, that dessert sounds really yummy except for the coffee. I don't care for coffee or tea at all. Thanks for starting the new thread!! We are quite talkative at times, aren't we?

Mima

Holy toledo-that sounds yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's hard to see our kids get disappointed but we can't see the big picture. Tim is such a good kid. Suzanne has an interview tomorrow-she wants so bad to get out of the dept she is in-we'll see what happens there. She has one more paper to go. Her party is Sept 2.
Brad's niece is in a dither so she called Brad. Her mother is the one in the rehab. She dumped all her problems on her mother who is laying there helpless. She's having money problems-she does work 2 jobs and goes to school. She got money from an accident and tied up all her money in cd's. Anyhow she called Paula who is softhearted about money and us who are not. She knows her mother has money in an inheritance and she wants to go to that usually. But Brad's brother has control of that. Another person crying out/ I would like to go over her finances with her. I am good at that.
Have to say she is in a tough spot.
Massage today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My back is bad. She will help me. Mima

Mima, keep us posted on what Suzanne finds out about the other job. Would Brad's niece allow you to help her with the finances? I think it would be a good idea. Enjoy the massage!!

We're taking the rest of Tim's things to him today. He moves into his actual dorm room today. It's the same room he had last year (unless they messed up), so it won't be hard to put things away. He called last night and said the director has asked him more than once to play a xylophone in the sideline section of the band. Tim told him that he really doesn't feel confident playing it because it has been a few years. There were 2 other people who were going to be doing that, and Tim found out last night that they decided to drop band! If Tim would do it, he'd be the only one, so I'm sure he won't do it now. He seems enthused about this manager type position, so that's what matters.

Well-thet sure want him! Thanks for reminding me about Suzanne. I forgot.
Found out the problem with the finances is that she can't access the acct with the SS check, It's a savings, not checking. We are working on that and can loan her the money -from the trust fund-til it gets straightened out. Poor kid-We will try to be more supportive.
Paula is trying to get Sherrill transferred near here and my doc said he could help. He called to tell me my ch was 200 and my HDL 78-tri was 200-down 50 pts. Thyroid good. He said if I dropped off that book he would read it. Wow! for that encouragement.
Bad stomache day yesterday-pork???? Going to see Auntie today-lunch-she hasn't been out of the house to go anywhere but she sure sounds good.
Back hurts-wonderful massage so everything else is great-have to go to chiro. Mima

Well I'm back and it is catch up time. Christie is in and out of jail. I will take her for a walk and get her too tired to get into trouble..
The beach was great. Had to get out of the heat off and on. It was really hot there. In the high 90's.I will welcome fall.
Got to run .Back later. Hope everyone is well...Joanne

Hi everybody.

Joanne - nice to have you back. Glad you had yourself a good trip and a good time. It's always nice to get home and into your OWN bed.

Mima - neat that the Dr. is going to read that book. That may be a HUGE help for you. Sorry you are having such a tough time. That dessert I made was really delicious.

Tammy - Glad Tim is getting settled. Glad he is ok with his new role in the band. He is still part of it. Kids grow up but they also need to learn the ups and downs of life. If everything is/was always UP, they sure are going to have a hard time when they get on their own and things go down!! Huge disappointments. Everybody had got to learn to role with the punches because that is just life.

I am going to Edmonton today to pick up Ashley. She is coming to stay for a few days. She is so easy to have around. Really looking forward to it.

Hope you are all having yourselves a good day.

Mima
08-15-2007, 08:09 AM
Anne-have fun with Ashley!
Joanne-great to have you back and glad your vacation was nice. What a heat wave!!!!!
Tammy-I agree with Anne about kids learning disappointment. I learned that after a long time. Suzanne has high expectations and gets disappointed. i sure hope she gets that job .
Brad's sister is breathing better. I am still trying to figure out my stomache -the probiotics have magnesium-could be the cause, I didn't take it last night,
I bought Dr, Scholl's inserts for my shos-seems to help. Auntie and I went to lunch-we even had dessert-I had tapioca pudding.
Bye for now Mima who is still waiting for info on our insurance.
Suzanne just called-interview went well and there are 4 positions.

Mima
08-16-2007, 08:31 AM
Everyone is sleepimg! There is a meeting next week about insurance but I read in the paper that they didn't get the waiver-I really don't care because we were going to change anyways. I can't believe the govt won't give them a waiver.
Brad needs his toes operated on and he wanted to do it in FL. He has painful hammer toes.
Saw Debbie and Keith last night. Keith is moving around like crazy. Debbie is good-she goes back to school in 2 weeks. Talked to Jessica-she
s almost 7 months . She went to the library and got books to read about being pregnant and baby names. I told her I would send her money for clothes-she has a couple of thousand left in her fund. Then I will send her money for baby things after her showere so she will know what she needs. Her shower is in RI. Maybe I can hitch a ride with someone.
Eye doc today. Mima

Hey guys-pray for our friends in Jamaica!! At least some of them live on top of the mountain,
Went to see Brad's sister-she is miserable. Brought her daughter and she is coming to church with us.
Someone is interested in the apt-maybe that will move Brad. He is floundering around.
Boy-it's cool-planning Suzanne's party-invites out!
Any suggestions for a menu for 35-45 people, Sick of hot dogs and hamburgers.
Brad said a meat platter and BJ's
lasagna's and a bean casserole.

Good morning Mima. I sure hope the hurricane doesn't rip Jamacia apart. I was just watching the storm on TV now. Prayers are being sent. Too bad that Brad's sister is still so sick. A little reprieve would be nice for her.

I hope you get the apt. rented out. It's not THAT long before you head back to Florida. Time passes so quickly.

For Suzanne's birthday party, make a huge pot of Chili, and serve fresh, cut up veggies, and buns. Or make a TACO mixture and have Tortillia Chips, platter of veggies. Lot's of options. I don't care for hot dogs and hamburgers much. For dessert, make a Cherry Cheese Cake. Everybody loves it, and it is easy. If you want the recipe, just ask. You can make it in a 9x13 pan. It was my Mom's recipe and it gets rave reviews wherever you take it.

Well, Miss Ashley has gone back home. We sure had a fun time. She is such a joy to have around.

Tammy - did you go away? and Joanne, are you doing ok, now thatyou are back home.

Later.

Tammy
08-19-2007, 02:08 PM
Joanne, glad you had a nice time!! It's always good to get away.

Anne, Tim is doing great with the new position. He said yesterday that 2 of the field commanders came and talked to him and thanked him for everything he has been doing. Glad you had fun with Ashley!!

Mima, I've been wearing either Birkenstock or Earth shoes for the past few years, and they have made a huge difference in how my feet feel. I imagine Keith is getting into everything!! Maybe we should come up with baby names for Jessica! I like Brad's suggestion for the party!!

We did plan to go away for a couple days, but then Bob got sick. He still isn't up to snuff yet. I want him to call the doctor tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see.

Mima

Hi ladies!!! If you have nothing to do-ha!-go to www.jcarville.blogspot.com and see pics of my grandchildren on their vacation in Miami. Alison has to go to school today!
Love that chili idea and Brad knows how to make it. If everyone came, there would be 45 people plus small children. But that usually doesn't happen . We priced platters at BJ's and it was a lot. I love to plan!
We brought Brad's niece to church-she wants to go every week. I hope her mother gets transferred-it's so hard on everyone. She would get more company.
Brrr. It's cool and heat not hooked up/ But we have a ceramic one.
Stomache seems to recover from attacks. Was much better yesterday.

Mima, I'll check out the site after I get off of here. When we had Tim's Eagle Scout ceremony and his graduation party, we bought platters of meats, cheeses, and fruits. It was well worth the money so I could actually enjoy myself before and during the celebrations.

We've had so much rain the past couple of days. There are flood warnings out everywhere around us.

Met with a couple friends for lunch today. I did great at the meal, then we sat and talked for quite a while. By the time I got home, I was hungry! I grabbed a snack to hold me over till dinner.

Mima- The east coast beachs are really nice.. I lived in Miami when I was a small child..We don't go there (haven,t for years) ,too many people. We like the panhandle best..Nice pictures..I agree with Tammy.. Buy the food at a deli or have everybody bring a dish..
Tammy - You can send some of that rain to me...They are predicting 40% by Thursday.. I hope we get it..Aren't you glad you are not preparing for school? My daughter went to another school in her system. She is so happy she made the change.. Already she can see that it is much better.. She said as of now she only has 16 students! Most of her friends went to that school. She was at the other one 20 years.
I have been trying ,again, to lose a few pounds . I was 147 this morming and 150 this evening.. I hate that scale..I need to be 148 or under by Thursday.I guess I won't eat for the next 2 days...
Happy- I am doing ok.. The heat is getting the best of me.. It was 96 here today.. I didn't walk as far.. I probably got in 2 1/2 miles.. More would have killed the dog and me too.It does take some of the starch out of her so she is not into everything...
Meme-- Where are you? We miss you..

I think 2 1/2 miles is great!!!
Stomache is on bum again. Auntie and I are going to lunch after chiro appt . I am going to start acupuncture again. It really helped last year.
I am pretty well set so far for the party. Got green tablecloths and yellow and green plates and yellow napkins. And a congrats sign.My son is worried about the weather but it's too soon to tell. I should have made a rain date but I didn't. I will not order anything til I am almost sure-I can always call the people. Who haven't called me to RSVP!!!!!!!
I am an old lady today-69. Daughter let me pick out another Vera Bradley purse. Brad and I will celebrate on friday or sat. Maybe my stomache will be better.
Hope you don't get flooded Tammy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joanne, it is so weird not getting ready for school! BUT I can handle it. lol Glad to hear that your daughter will be in a nicer one.

RAIN! Most of the night. It isn't raining now, and hopefully it will hold off for a while to let what is already here drain somewhere.

Happy Birthday Mima!!! Wow to another VB purse!!!

Mima - hope you have a nice day and that darn tummy of yours straightens out. Sounds like the party stuff is coming along nicely.

Joanne - 2.5 miles - that is great. I don't think I could walk that far if I tired. One way, I guess, but then my legs would think they should stop working (darn FM). You will lose it. Why are you weighing yourself twice a day, anyway? The body changes from hour to hour. This morning you will probably be lighter again.

Tammy - It must be so nice for you to realize you don't have to go to school:carrot: Hope nobody gets caught in the floods that are happening. The weather has gone crazy all over the world.

I am off to work - full day today. I will go "casual" at the first of September, maybe only 1 or 2 days a weeks. That suits me fine. They pay good, so even if I work just a few hours, I still get a fairly decent pay check.

Everybody have a nice day. Meme - hope you are doing ok.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIMA!!!
I am just really nervouse about my weight lately... I will have to go out of leeway.. Maybe that would be the best thing to do . Then it wouldn't be so much pressure to stay at a certain weight..I was real heavy for so many years..
Almost time to take Christie for a walk.. This will be short..
My brothers son will be in town this weekend. He is a Col. stationed in Washington. He keeps the communications between the countries up and going. Big shot job in the army..We are so prowd of him..We will go out to dinner or meet at our sons for a cookout. More eating!
Hello everybody...Joanne

That's great about your nephew, Joanne.
I had a nice quiet bd-after the chiro who did acupuncure and all the other stuff on my back-I went to lunch with Auntie. came home and Brad brought beautifil flowers, a balloon and 2 cards. We will go out Friday night=we watched a movie.
But miraculously my stomache got better-that pain and feeling left. I am going evry week for 3 and then every 2. It worked last year!
Sounds like a good plan to slow down, Anne. i haven't been called back to work yet. Still saving for Jamaica.
Wear your lightest clothing for the weigh in, Joanne. Maybe your bd suit-Brad says mine needs to be ironed. Mima

Joanne D
08-23-2007, 11:44 AM
My b/d suit is in sad shape!!!I do wear my lightest clothes every week. Sometimes I feel even a blowtorch wouldn't help. It is just a matter of 3-5 lbs and they just don't move..If I ate bad I could understand it..My stomach isn't in the best shape either..
I'm off to walk Christie.. Have a good day everybody...Joanne

Tammy
08-23-2007, 12:26 PM
Anne, I like the idea of casual!! I think sometime in the future (not this year), I might decide to sub, but only a couple days a week. I worked at the blood drive last week that was sponsored by the retired teachers here in the county, so I talked to most of them about subbing. Some subbed for a while and stopped, some have never subbed. One woman subs about 4 or 5 days a month and only at certain schools. That might be something I might want to do.

Joanne, you've done great with all of the weight that you've lost. Don't let a couple pounds get you down! You can do it!! That is cool about your nephew! Wow! My b-day suit is in bad shape also!! I'm still up 10 pounds from where I was when I went on all of the meds for the fibro and arthritis. I keep thinking about stopping all the meds, but I really don't like pain.

Mima, glad to hear the stomach is better!!

As hot as it is, my friend and I are meeting at the county fair again tonight. We take chairs and sit and watch people. We do get up and walk every half hour or so. Tonight we are going to the Christian T-shirt tent. I bought one the other night, and now I've decided that I want another one. There is also a tent that sells Italian charms for $2.00 each. Melissa bought 10 of them yesterday, and I plan to buy some today to put another bracelet together. I have one that is mostly charms I have purchased on vacations. I want to put together a bracelet that is all Christian charms.

Sounds like a good time-is any of the flooding near you, Tammy?
Thanks for that nice card-Anne-forgot to say that yesterday.
Suzanne is very happy that she got the new job. She found out yesterday. She needs to get out of the dept she is in. Only 2 more steps to be a supervisor.
Brad has someone to help him cement today. Things seem to be progressing.
My back isn't good and I went to chiro on Wed-but my stomache still is.
I am bored-people have not RSVPed yet. I could go to Art lessons but that's too much like work. I did get an invite to work-2 4 day stints. Wondering if I can handle it-800 dollars in travel stash-I can handle that.
How did you make out Joanne-
hi meme-Hope the heat is over soon. Mima

Tammy
08-24-2007, 08:32 AM
Mima, most of the really nasty flooding is north of us at least 30 miles. We have some flooding here, but nothing like that. Congrats to Suzanne on the job!!
I think I could handle the $800 too!!

Saw lots of people at the fair last night. I bought another t-shirt and I ended up with 11 charms! I ate an order of breadsticks with cheese sauce. That was my dinner.

Stay cool everyone!!

Mima
08-25-2007, 06:47 AM
Brad took me out for my bd and next week we are going to see Mr. Bean's Holiday. It looks so funny. I am still getting cards!
Heard from 20 people for the party but there are probably 20 more.
Brad's sister cannot be moved to Holden but possibly to Leicester which will take a bit of driving but it's all back roads. My kind.
We are going to Springfied today. Picking up our niece.
Bye Mima-glad you are away from the floods Tammy.

Tammy
08-25-2007, 09:51 PM
Mima, I hope the rest of the people let you know about the party!! Maybe I'll come!!

Took some things to Tim today that he had left at home when he went to school. Nothing urgent really, but it was nice to visit with him. We went out for dinner.

Mima
08-26-2007, 06:27 AM
Nice-I am glad to see you are not without power! My best gf took her only child to school on Friday. I think I will get to talk to her today.
Let's see-Jim and Suzanne having problems and Brett and Angela are having another baby. Not much I can do about all that. If everyone had babies when they should, the world wouldn't have any new babies.
Church picnic after the service and it's 90. Brieanna wants to go too. She's latched onto us-we went to see her mother who only cried half the time we were there. Brie painted her fingers and toes!!! I give her back rubs-Brad tells her jokes and prays, It's just taking so long. There must be a reason why she didn't die-she was that close.
Stomache not good-I think it's all about the sugar!!!Had sorbet yesterday and Indian pudding on Friday.
Have a good day. Mima

Tammy
08-27-2007, 08:04 AM
Mima, sorry to hear that Jim and Suzanne are having problems. Hope things work out. Brett and Angela having another baby, huh? When is it due? Too hot for a church picnic I think. Sugar can really mess with one's system, can't it?

Meeting the teachers/retirees this afternoon. The teachers have a work day, then they have open house tonight. We're getting together between the two. It will be nice to see everyone. Then we'll set the date for out next get-together.

Mima
08-28-2007, 08:25 AM
Have fun, Tammy. The baby's due date is April 12 or 13-12 is Suzannes bd, ALL the children and grch are born in March, April or May. except dil Jill who is 2/2. My bd budget is going to fall apart. Suzanne will have a stepdaughter if she and Jim get married. Now Jessica will have a baby.
Yikes!!!!
Getting my hair frosted today! Heavy so I will be a blonde again.
It's looking fallish here. Mima

We had so much fun at our get-together yesterday. I'm really glad that we decided to do it every month. It's great seeing each other. Those of us who are retired, thought maybe we might get together on our own during the month too.

Mima, my son is a March baby, and my b-day is in May. I'd fit into your family.

It was really hot here again today. We hadn't had the AC on because it's been so nice with the breeze blowing. I finally gave in and turned in on tonight. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to sleep with the heat.

Hello to everyone!!

Mima
08-29-2007, 07:56 AM
Come on in, Tammy. Suzanne's bf is March 28.
Back hurts like crazy but stomache better yesterday, Chiro today and acupuncture. Got my SIBO book back to drop off at Doc's office, on the way to Aunties-lunch at the Black and White.
The Red Sox lost to the Yankees but they are still 7 games ahead of them.
Just in case you care-ha!!!
Our weather is gorgeous =cool front coming in tomorrow.
I guess I am all set for Sunday.
Bye Mima-who should contact her work friends.

There were 5 of us in my family all in Feb and March..It puts a hole in the pocket book that time of the year. Although I have said that it will just be cards this year..I say that every year..
It is still hot as ever here in my neck of the woods.. I have been watching the rain showeres move around all summer. We get a short 10-15 minute rain now and then. It isn't enough to do much good.. Just makes steam..Our ac has been on most of the year. It is only a week or so that it isn't on. Then it is usually the heat we turn on. I look forward to when I can open the windows and air out the house..
I walk 2 times a day with Christie but just not as far as I will when it cools off..That will be sometime in October.
Christie seems to take a lot of time. Babysitting.. She is into everything..
Baseball has never been my thing. We watch the Bucs now and then. They haven't been doing so good in the last few years..
Our daughter will be down this weekend. She mentioned that we may go to yard sales. We will see. I am sure her hubby may have other plans. His family lives in this area too.. She has to hop to their wants or they get mad and pout..:p

Good morning. Well, it will be nice to see your daughter and I hope it works out.Our FL electric bill is still low-what a bunch of money we have saved with the new system.
Angela asked me to babysit for the time she goes to the doc to get an ultrasound because she has a pain in her side-concern for ectopic pregnancy.
I am concerned about my back. Maybe I will have them bring his walker. It's sitting on the floor that's a problem. and I went to the chiro yesterday.
We went to see Mr. Bean's Holiday-not as funny as his other movie.
Have a great day. Mima

Good morning. Hope your back feels better Mima, as the day goes on. Sometimes it takes a couple of treatments to get it right. Looking after little ones is no easy job, although it IS enjoyable.

Joanne - I can't IMAGINE not having my windows open during the summer. I open them even during the cold of winter, even if just for a few minutes. Doesn't take long to freshen up the place when it is 30 below outside. We have to watch when it is that cold, however, that we don't freeze the pipes, as we have water heating in this building. Just about everybody in my family and my hubby's family have their birthdays from Jan until Jun. Only 3 are out of wack, and that is my daughter, my BIL and my gson. Most are in Mar, Apr and May.

Tammy - glad you got for lunch with your friends. Sounds like a good thing to do move often with the retired teahers. I enjoy working. I wasn't ready to retire, when I had to quit working. I want it to be MY choice, when I choose to quit, not my BODIES!!!

I worked 3 full days, and I will NEVER do that again. My muscles are giving me grief, especially the upper back muscles. I really slept good last night but woke up stiff and sore. I need a nice hot shower. Maybe that will help some.

Hope you all have a great day.

Joanne D

Happy- I live 1+ miles from the Gulf of Mexico.. It is very hot and humid here in the summer..There is a lot of traffic in front of my house..It takes a lot of energy to reheat or cool a Florida home. This one was built in 1946..I would have to be continuesly cleaning dust if the windows were open much..I just have to find a happy medium..
Tops tonight.. I am not going to worry about the weight. If I am over goal I will just go out of leeway and get rid of the preasure of always being tence about it..
I am 74 years old.. I will never be what I used to be. I will never get heavy again..
Hello everybody...Joanne

Mima
08-31-2007, 07:09 AM
That's a good attitude, Joanne. I acn't open windows because the air outside has pollen which reminds me that hubby needs to wash filter-we get allergen ones. I get wheezy when filters are dirty.
So disappointed that my nice can't come to the party-really wanted to see her and her 2 adorable children.
My brother is not coming-probably too embarrased-I think he may be finally facing himself. He wouldn't stay on the phone-I told him I was praying for him. Sure hope he is going to AA.
It's going to be a beautiful weekend.
I saw a pic of the baby-the size of a grape and growing in the ueterus-not the fallopian tube. PTL
Oh those kids-so cute. Keith was in his pen mostly-never whimpered . People don't use playpens like they used to-sure saaves a lot of trouble. I wouldn't put them in there all trhe time-but you need a break,
Baking the cookies today-going to look for bargains at Ocean State-nothing to do with the party. Mima

Tammy
08-31-2007, 07:12 PM
Joanne, I'm sure Christy is keeping you busy. It will be much easier to walk with her when it is cooler. I'm finding that with Kramer too. Today it is in the 70's, so it's perfect. That's too bad about your daughter's in-laws. That is what we are afraid will happen if Tim and Jess end up together. They are "single" now, to date others, but I won't be surprised if they get back together soon. I do like Jess very much, but I still think they should both date others before they make a life-time commitment to each other.

You have a good attitude about the weight! Good for you. I don't plan to get back to where I was at one time either, but I still have a ways to go to get where I want to be to be healthier.

Anne, I have several friends who could have retired this past year, but they are planning to teach a few more years. I think at one time I might have, but with the aches and pains AND the administration where I taught, it was time to get out. Hope your back is better!!!

Mima, what kind of cookies are you making? I have been hungry for oatmeal cookies, and I think I just might make some.

Tim will be home tonight and get with my nephew about computer problems tomorrow. He has to go back to school late Sunday afternoon because he works the desk Sunday night. We were able to see him after the football game over there last night. Went to IHOP for a late supper. He looked exhausted, and his allergies are really kicking up. I think it will do him some good to sleep in his own bed a couple nights with no interuptions.

Joanne D
08-31-2007, 08:52 PM
Tammy- Yes Christie is a handful.. Some days she is really good and on schedule. Other days like today she is just too much.. My neighbor told me tonight it will take another year for her to settle down.. I hope I can last..
I am always thinking about my weight.. I was heavy for so many years. It has caused me to be diebetic, high col and trig. ,osteoarthritis, high b/p, just naming a few.. Ofcourse I am aware that those are also inherited. Both sides of my family had the same problems. But not taking the care of myself has made things worse..
I agree it is a good thing for your son to date other girls . He has a lot of time to get serious about one girl.. My G/son is engaged to a girl that we are finding out things that just don't look good.. He is 27 and should be old enough to know what is best . But we are really concerned about this one. Her father is just too involved for one thing..Too much closeness. He is also pushing for the wedding.. We want them to wait and get to know each other better.. Young people don't always listen to advice. They both are still going to school. The G/son spent 5 years in the navy before he decided to go to school.. We say a lot when we went on vacation. The girl went too. Her father showed up and included himself. He didn't leave till the last day of the vacation.. My daughter and her hubby were really upset. It looked like she couldn't do enough for her father and barely talked or did anything with the G/son . Not a good thig.Otherwise we did have a good beach week..
Have a good weekend...Joanne

I agree with you about that situation, Joanne. I assume the mother is not in the picture. Enmeshed families can be a problem in a marriage. My SIL feels left out because her daughter spends a lot of time with her in-laws. Now she isn't coming to the party and she spent a week with hubby's family.
Same with Brett and Angela-her family is #1. Not Mike-he is so good-loves everyone-includes everyone. Suzanne will be the same way. We had a small family and used to include both sides for the holidays. Now we have no in-laws! Just sisters and brothers.
Busy day-some cooking this morning and then a shopping trip this afternoon-dinner out. Weather is gorgeous!!!!
Then next weekend the marriage group will be here.
My gf's daughter is loving her college-meeting so many great girls-she goes to Gordon in MA.
Have a great weekend. Mima

Mima- That's the other side of the picture.. Nike was a girl friend/boy/friend baby. The mother later married another man. We have not met the mother but were told she is a hard nosed southern baptist. She informed the G/son if there was any alcohol at the wedding they would not be there. She is overweight as is the daughter.. when my G/S came to visit he brought niki. She told me she didn't want to lose weight . She thinks she doesn't look good then..She is very heavy. We are trying to get the G/son to lose weight. He has got very heavy since he has been seeing her.
Niki has already put money down on a hall for the wedding. It is a year away.. When the G/son suggested they wait longer she said she would lose 2000 dollars if they do that. Not a good reason. So as of now it is still on..I was told yesterday she changed her major in school and now it will be 2 more years of school..
Now I have unloaded on you .I will shut up... Have a Great Weekend... Joanne

Joanne, sorry to hear about your grandson's girlfriend. That relationship with her father doesn't sound healthy at her age, does it? And now I just read your next post about her being heavy and your g/son gaining. It just doesn't sound good to me.

Mima
09-02-2007, 06:55 AM
Sounds like Angela and Brett to a point-they are both heavy and do not seem like it bothers them, although they are walking.
Listen to this-my son called me yesterday and said he awoke to the dog barking at the paperman who was putting out the fire on the deck. It must have been smoldering all night. People cannot walk on it-so the party has been moved here. Threw all my junk in the den. Called everyone, some twice. Got the girl across the street to dust and vacc. Went shopping for the rest of the food-had to do that anyways. I had all the food so it will be easier not to have to lug it.
The only glich is that I had diarrhea last night-we had gone out to eat-I seem to be ok today. Nerves and too much sugar-I had brandied apples and baked sweet potato with butter and sugar. But were they good. And steak.Bye for now-Mima

The relationship between my G/sons G/friend and her father not only sounds bad but looked bad.. I just hope it is not how it looked. It seems though that the main focus is to get her married and having lots of babies... So she says.
My daughter and her hubby left early this morning. She is so devoted to her work that she will be in her classroom all day tomorrow working..
Hello everybody...Joanne

Good morning-I am so tired and wound up. I can't sleep. It was a great party-Jessica came with her dad-she looks so great with her little round belly. I convinced Suzanne we need to go to her shower. The cake was out of this world-BJ's with choc and choc mousse.
So much food left over-trying to figure a way not to waste it. My son took stuff to his house because he was having company.
My aunt came-she always looks so fashionable. And a new baby was there-daughter's best friend Siobhan who graduated with her. I put her name on the cake too. It looked like they were getting married. It's MA here-people are so liberal.
We are going to go get flooring for the apt today-I may need 2 naps.
Relationships are strange. Joanne and the older you get, the more you notice. Suzanne's boyfriend says some strange things and she takes offense. But Brad does too-mostly in private-and I have never been able to stop him. After a while, you accept people like they are.
Bye-Mima

Joanne, it really doesn't sound good. I wish your grandson wasn't in that situation. It won't be good in the future. I think I was alot like your daughter. I spent so many weekends and holidays in the classroom. One night a few years ago on a Saturday night, there was a knock on my classroom window about 11:00. It was the police! They couldn't believe that I was there that late. Neither could I actually!!

Mima, glad the party turned out ok!!

I'm catching up on some laundry today. Bob is going to paint some cupboard doors. He painted the cupboard ages ago, and he just never got around to the doors and the drawer. It will be nice to have it finished and put back together. It was my grandmother's pie safe, that went to my mom, then to me, and eventually to Tim.

I'm hurting pretty bad today. Haven't overdone anything, so I guess it's just one of those flare days. Fun.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Good morning-still cleaning up after the party-I feel so bad about all those leftovers but some I had to throw away. My stomache caught up with me yesterday for eating cake. But it seems to stop where before it didn't.
We went to get flooring yesterday, and passed a yard sale with baby things but we couldn't stop because we had to get the flooring. But, even thought the changing table was gone-on the way back-I got 2 things that I wanted Jessica to have-a bouncy reclining chair with music-and a playmat-each were 10 and good as new. !!!!
Massage today-my back was good for 3 days and now it's back to hurting. It seems like it gets out of place.
Gorgeous weather! Mima

Way to go on those great buys at the yard sale!! I love it when I get good deals!!

Good morning. I had such a wonderful massage yesterady-she worked on my hips big time-perhaps all my problems are fibro?????? Stomache a bit better-Auntie wants to go to lunch-I can have a turkey sandwich on my bread. Then we have our puddings-mine is tapioca and hers is grapenuts. !!!
Big mess with our prescriptions-The City changed the company and NONE of our scripts got transferred as promised by City. But there is a nice lady named Laurie who is working on it-worst case scenario-all new scripts!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which we will need to go to FL.
Very cool. Chance of selling camper to a friend of Brad's but he will have to tow it to FL for them. But we will net 10,000. Campers are not selling-just like houses.
Bye for now Mima

09-06-2007, 11:46 AM
I didn't find one yard sale when my daughter and I went out sat. We did find a craft show and didn't buy anything but some nuts..Most of the stuff I can make myself..So I know when the price is jacked up to the clouds..
Mima- I hope you are cool where you are. Florida is really hot right now..The rainy season is almost over.. Where we live it has not recieved its fair share of rain. It is going to take a big storm to bring up the water table...
My stomach has decided to say hello.. I hope it settles down befor I have to go to Tops this evening...
Hello Everybody..Joanne

Tammy
09-07-2007, 06:42 AM
Mima, I think many of our problems are from the fibro. Nice to hear that the camper may be selling soon!

Joanne, I always enjoy going to craft shows, but I really never buy anything. I can't make the stuff though. I'm a klutz!! Hope your Tops meeting went well.

Not much happening here. We've had Kramer to the doggy hospital for a couple of days. He is home now. He had some diarhea and was dehydrated, and now we think he's back to normal. He had just been there because of vomiting a few weeks ago, so they ran all kinds of tests this time to see if there was a problem with his liver or kidneys. Everything came back ok though.

Mima
09-07-2007, 07:15 AM
Sure hope Kramer is ok.
I hardly buy anything at Craft sales for the same reason-I can make it. I don't need anything anyways.
My daughter is moving in with her boyfriend and I claimed the entertainment center that I gave her because we can use it. Bobby and I put sweat and tears putting it to gether. We have a TV set on the FLOOR in the bedroom but now I have to get rid of my bureau. I have 12 hours to make up my mind.
I had to get ALL new scripts because they didn't transfer ANY of ours-glad the secretaries were so nice!!!!!
Brad has someone coming to help him this morning put up sheetrock!
Chiro at 9-doing better. Women's bible at 1. Pick up the scripts in between. Mima

Tammy
09-08-2007, 04:15 PM
Kramer is doing better, but he still isn't back to being himself yet.
I laughed about the entertainment center. When Tim was home over the summer, he was pointing things out that he would like to take with him when he moves out. Keep in mind, he won't be graduating till spring 2009, but he is already thinking. Bob is thinking too, because he has plans for what to do with Tim's room when he moves out.

I went to a new chiropractor on Thursday. She put me through several stretching exercises, sat and asked a zillion questions, and then took xrays. I meet with her on Monday to go over everything, and to decide what the plan of action will be. My old chiro never did anything like that when I first went to him. I had heard good things about this woman, so I thought I'd give her a try. Hope she can help.

Hope everyone is doing ok!!

Mima
09-09-2007, 06:53 AM
Sure hope you get help from the chiro. My adjustment didn't last long this time because I tried to move a chair while I was sitting on it. My stomache is better today but has been on the bum. And my sinuses are acting up.
Nix on the entertainment center. I told her to try to sell it at work.
Someone actually came to look at camper but he was also looking at others.
Boy-did it rain yesterday. We sure need it.
We went to see Brad's sister and she is doing better. She cried when we left but seemed happy when we got there. They took all her tubes out!!!!!!!!!
We are going to a new SS class and going to hear Ivan Parker tonight. He sings with the Gaithers and he's going to be at my gf's church. Even my sil is going,
We also went to Angela's brothers restaurant on the way home. I had haddock and mashed potatoes-it was good.

I have returned! My goodness, I had a hard time trying to get on the computer. A gfriend of mine came and spent the week. This is a gal I grew up with, so that makes 55 years of friendship under our belts. Anyway, we just talked and had a good time.

Mima - I hope you start to feel better soon. You haven't really felt good for a while. If it isn't the tummy, then it is the back. Hopefully, another treatment by the chiro will help. I know, for me, at times, I have to go about 4 times in a row, and then it is good for a long time. Have fun tonight.

Tammy - I remember when my kids were moving out. My daughter wanted stuff, but my son not so much. Had to force him to take things. Kids are sure different.

Joanne - Hope YOUR tummy has also settled down. This IBS stuff gets old fast!!!! I go to craft shows and look, but never buy anything. A lot of that stuff they sell are just dust collectors. Looks nice for the first little while, but it usually costs an arm AND a leg.

Hope you all have a good day.

Here's a little poem, written by a wonderful, gifted gal.

FINDING GOD EACH DAY
As through this life we wander...Getting burdened with life's cares,
We sometimes look around us...And ask if God is here.
We try so hard to find Him...In a world so full of stress,
That many times we overlook...His presence at its best.
Have you ever saw the wagging tail...Of a dog that you may greet?
Have you ever heard a purring cat...As it lay across your feet?
Felt the softness of a horse's lips...Eating oats from an outstretched hand?
Or watched a mother cow and calf...As they grazed upon the land?
Saw a deer out in the meadow...Its tall ears still and alert?
Watched a gopher in the garden...Digging up the dirt?
The robin in early springtime...Chirping with delight,
The wild goose in September...Preparing for its flight?
Yes..God is all around us...In all we see and hear,
But sometimes wer'e too busy... to see what is so near.
Please God ,help us to go slower...And enjoy the gifts you give,
Only then can we see you..In this world in which we live.

Happy- My Tummy settled for awhile..now it is back full force.. We ate out yesterday and I atr seafood gumbo and pasta and shrimp.. My back is bad too. I knew I was in trouble last night when the pain started in my abdomen and back..This too will pass...
Tammy- I have been trying for the past year to give things away to my kids... I think I will do like my G/mother did.. She put a name on the things that she wanted to give to family so that when she died we would all know what she gave away..I gave some of the stuff at that time to my daughter and son.. Now I can't get them to take anything...
Mima- We finally got a good rain yesterday. It just so happened that it caught me several blocks from home and Christie and I got soaked..
Have a good day everyone.. I am going to look for some comfort for my tummy...Joanne

I like the poem!!

Joanne, I met Tim halfway today for lunch. We talked again about the things that he would like to take with him. It will really look empty in here if he takes everything that he wants, but that's ok. It won't be as crowded in places then.

Hey everybody ... looks like you have all been quite busy. Sorry I haven't been around much. For one thing, my daughter has had pneumonia ... for another, we actually got to take a short vacation in the smokies. Rented a beautiful cabin up there for 4 days. Had a hot tub on the deck, whirlpool in the bedroom, 2 big screen TVs, 3 DVD players, game room loft with a pool table. It was in the woods, secluded. We didn't want to leave. We did a little shopping in Pigeon Forge, went out to eat once but grilled out there the rest of the time. There were some craft villages close by that we browsed one day - bought a swinging net hammock. It's so neat, it's just for one person, has a pillow you sit on then you can put your feet in the net and pull it out and lay down. I really enjoyed the break.

I've been trying to help daughter out some with the kids, too. She was really sick. I picked them up from school for her and took them to eat or to karate lessons ... of course I didn't really mind! ;)

Maybe things have settled down for awhile. (I think I've said that before, haven't I?) :p Oh well, I guess that's what having a life is all about. Just seems like sometimes I have a little more life that others!!! But, I think it's time for a rest. Not a vacation rest ... a real rest. I've got to take some time off. Been saying that for awhile now. Dr. ran a bunch of tests including blood work and an echocardiogram. He called and told me my blood was lower than usual the first of last week, then the last of the week he called and said I had a hole in my heart. I told them to tell me something new. He wanted me to go to a hemotolotist ... I said no ... been there done that. Then, he wanted me to go to a heart Dr. again, so I said I'd go one more time. He seems to think they may want to repair this hole now. Don't know why now ... I've known about the hole since before my daughter was born 37 years ago so I'm sure I've probably had it since birth. But, I'll go and we'll see. The only reason I'm going - my dad and his dad both died from heart attacks at age 72. That's 12 years for me - I'm already on the same heart meds my dad was on - scary. Clock's ticking. Just leaving it in the hands of God. Everybody has a time to go. If mine is 72 then I'll go. If not a heart attack then it'll be something else. I'm going to the Dr. but he still can't keep me from dying if it's my time.

Remember me telling you how dry it has been here ... that was a month ago. Still no rain. We're supposed to get some Tues. I think. Everything here is dead. You should see our yard, it's pitiful. It has been so hot and dry we can't stand to be outside for more that 5 or 10 minutes at a time. We have even been putting the dog in the basement. It's been in the 100s or at least upper 90s forever. I can't wait for fall to arrive.

IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME!!!

Mima

I heard that it was that hot in TN-our neighbors across the street in FL live there!
Well-it's raining here and will for 2 more days and we need that. It's getting fallish and the leaves are turning. I just love fall.
Back and stomache still not good but sinuses better, Brad is going to be working downstairs so I will put on the air cleaners-things are really coming to gether.
Our neice wants to get baptized. I push and push people to come to church and all we did was ask her once and now she comes every week and strated a college and career Sunday school class yesterday. We started an ALPHA class, if anyone has heard of it.
Wow-we went to hear Ivan Parker kast night at a small church nearby-wonderful. And on Oct 4 I will see Signature Sound.
It's getting very busy. And I think next week we will go away for an overnight and go to the BIG E exposition. It's a huge NE event.
So glad to hear from you Meme-take care of yourself. I will pray for your health. You are amazing with everything wrong-esp the blood. Boy-that vacation was special.
Nice to have lunch with Tim. I tried to give my beautiful maple dining room table to my kids and no one wants it. So here it sits. But when we have a party it holds desserts. It's a drop leaf so it's out of the way.
Bye for now Mima
Anne-you must be tired from having company-thanks for the poem.

I will walk with Auntie today to try them out.
Apt is coming along. Brad has had help.
Funny-Jessica told me her mother is also having a baby-She's only 36. Next Feb-Jessica is due Oct 24. I hope I get to see the baby before I go.

Hi everyone. Just a note to let you know what's happening in my life. My hubby is currently in ICU at a hospital in Dayton. He has been a beer drinker forever, and the doctor had told him he needed to quit because he has liver problems. Well, he didn't quit. He has been vomiting blood, his whole body is swollen, he's gained 20 pounds in 3 weeks. He went to the doctor on Monday and started vomiting there. They called the squad, took him to a small local hospital. After a few hours there, they transferred him to a large hospital in Dayton where the liver specialist is.

Anyway, our son is home from school. Very understanding professors. I'm doing ok, but I'm exhausted. The dog is at the doggy hotel so we don't have to worry about him.

I will keep you posted. Prayers would be greatly appreciated!!

OMG Tammy, I do hope he will be ok. What a terrible shock for you. He will have a fight on his hands, I am afraid. Do they think it is Cirosis of the Liver? Just hang in there! I am sure that you are exhausted.

Mima - Funny about Jessica and her Mom. At least the babies will be the same age. How old is Jessica?? Her Mom is certainly very young.

Meme - nice to see you. You vacation sounds wonderful. Also, hope your daughter is ok.

Joanne - Hope the tummy has settled down again. Have you ever tried to take Immodium when it is acting up?? I find that it helps me.

I was sick yesterday. Went to bed on Monday night and got a case of the chills (fm thing), no fever, this went on for a couple of hours, and then got so hot, but my body temp was only 98.6 (seems lately, it is 96.2 each and every day) so could have been a fever, I guess, even though it was normal. Didn't sleep all night and had a splitting heacache as well. Yesterday, of course, I was so darn draggy. Better today.

Hope all are well.

Oh Tammy-how awful. Prayers for all of you. It seems sometimes we get a wake up call about our health. Sure hope and pray this is all reversible. Put all of you in God's hands.
Angela sked me to meet her at the hospital to stay with Keith in his carriage while she has an appt. I can't lift him without hurtng my back-I told her she should make her appts later when Brett can stay with him. But I will go today. I am not good with last minute changes to my plans.I do love to see him. I need to get over my resentment about her.
Shoes were nice for walking-they are New Balance.
I hope you feel better Anne.
I have to get ready for a large roup coming tomorrow night. Gotta get peaches for a cobbler.

Tammy ... praying for Bob. Hope he is home and recouperating soon.

Some cooler today. Had a little much needed rain yesterday. Might get a little more tonight. Not holding my breath ... chances are 40%. I don't do well when the weather changes. This time is no different.

Ever heard of Lisa Harper? She is holding a women's conference at one of the larger churches in town next Fri. night and Sat. (21 & 22) Daughter asked me to go with her. They are serving breakfast Sat. morning. Sounds like fun. She has a Bible Study on Hebrews that has a DVD with it that I'd like to have. She's the one who founded the 'Renewing the Heart' conferences that were so big back a few years ago. I went to one of those in Nashville with a women's group once. She's really good. I don't have Praise Team practice next Sat. and hubby was gone most of last Sat. (most of last week, actually) so I should get a turn, huh?

Well, got to get busy. Have a full schedule on the weekend and need to get a head start on it. SS lesson is hairy. Romans ... 5 worksheets on Good vs. Evil. 4 of them are debate sheets. Lovely! I have the 7th and 8th graders now on top of CE job. I've had to enlist some help with that! Plus I'm singing on the Praise Team Sun. Morn. and then playing Sun. night and also doing the special music AND we have choir practice at 5. Co-ordinator of Worship handed me a notebook so full of music that made my head spin last night. It's a good thing I have 3 days and I don't know if that's enough!

Have faith Tammy!!! Remember, "all things work together for good for those who love God!"

Feel better everybody ...

Quick update. Bob was moved out of ICU about 6:30 tonight. He had some food - jello, pudding, apple juice, soup. He is very weak. There hasn't been any vomiting, and there has been no blood in his stool. The nurse said if it continues that way, he may get to come home tomorrow afternoon. That scares me. He is so weak.

I'm sorry I'm not reading and responding to all of your posts. I really need to go to bed.

Mima

Well, that's good news. Hope it continues and he does what he needs to do. It's hard to change. If you need support, Al-anon is a good place. Still praying.
I met Angela at the hospital and I stayed 2 hours until he went to sleep =she had all kinds of pre-natal tests. That Keith is so good. My gf told me that I get upset because it reminds me of my mother and all I went trough with her but that I am not the same person and I can set boundaries. I also can confront-she told me that noone could bring their children in but I saw everyone else bringing their children in-not that it would be good because she was in there for an hour. That's why I always feel manipulated but God says we have to help those that "persecute" us, not just the easy ones like my aunt. That's it-I feel persecuted. HaHA
Gotta get ready for marriage group tonight=Brad took the baseboard heat off the wall and now it sits there with no paint or baseboard. I bet it will be like that for a long time. And everything is a mess downstairs and plasterer is coming this morning for the apt.
But we are going away Sun=hope my stomache settles/I know I need an antibiotic. There is a huge event called the Eastern States Exhibition. We will see Brad's sister on Sun-go to a hotel, and go to the BigE on Monday. Bye for now-Mima

Our minister was down to visit Bob the other day. He told Tim and I that he and Bob are going to have a "little chat" when he's better. The minister's dad, brother, and sister were all alcoholics. I think Bob is ready to admit that he is.
I'll be heading to the hospital in a couple hours. Trying to get things done around here in case he gets to come home later today.

I hope all of you have a great weekend. I've skimmed the posts, but I'm not taking time to respond. Just know that you are all wonderful for your support, and I wish you all the best!

Wow how God intervenes. I am a big fan of support groups but when you get God involved, there is hope. Been down that road myself. Not fun.
I am tired from last night but it was great. We talked about forgiveness. And someone shared a story that brought her to tears but had such a great ending. She forgave something just awful because she knew she was forgiven
We are going away tomorrow after we see Brad's sister who isn't doing well-using the trach again.
Be good Tammy-we are praying for al of you. Mima

Tammy, I'm so sorry. But it's better to be safe. If he needs a few more days to heal, he'd better take them. It'll work out, you'll see. He'll be home, and a better man for it, in no time. I'm sure right down to my achy bones that this is just God's wake-up call for him and ... if I'm right ... there isn't a thing you can do about it but pray and stay by his side until he wakes up. The ultimate decision is his and his alone. You know how that is! So, just settle down and wait. You know God's clock doesn't work like ours. Just give Him time to do His stuff. This didn't happen right at this moment ... when you are home and not working ... by accident, either. Remember what I said earlier about ALL THINGS? Just give those things time to work.

Praying for you all in this situation. Not an easy one, I know!

Meme, thanks for saying what you did! I know it is so true. From Bob's beer drinking and taking Tylenol, he has lots of liver damage. Cirrosis (I don't know how to spell it) is the diagnosis. The doctor said that if he stops drinking, he may be able to live a long life. I do believe that it was a wake up call to Bob.

A woman from the dependency dept. came in to talk to him today about his alcohol drinking. She asked how many DUI's he has had, how many car accidents due to alcohol, what time he starts drinking in the morning, and how many times there has been violence in our home because of the drinking.

He has never had a DUI. He had one car accident, but he hadn't been drinking (they did a test at 2 hospitals). He never drinks in the morning. He might have a couple beers in the afternoon, but usually he'll go up to the Eagles or VFW at night and have some beer. He has never been violent in any way when he has been drinking. I think his answers shocked her.

The bleeding came from the esophagus where damage had been done because of the liver problem. His dad had liver problems, and he never drank.

Right now we are looking at Thursday for possibly coming home. He may be on oxygen for a while at home, but we can deal with that.

Thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes everyone. I am about ready to go to bed. It's early, but that's ok.

That's actually great news. It's serious but it could have been much worse. I know you are probably getting lots of advise but here is a little more. Don't tell him how lucky he is, don't stay on his case about how this is his own fault and don't keep talking to him about his drinking. He knows ... just give God time to work. Sometimes nagging at a person can do more damage than good. If he were to go back to drinking beer again later the best thing to do is become sad to the point he will notice something is wrong. When he mentions your mood, tell him you hate to see him drinking again because he is cutting his life with you and Tim short and you don't know how you will manage without him.

I'm still praying for you all ... the hardest part is yet to come!

Meme is right-it will be difficult but you seem to have a good relationship. It would be comforting to go to a support group like al-anon. I went for 23 years and it helped me stop doing and saying the wrong things and also develpo a personal relationship with God. I don't agree with the acting sad part-but def agree with telling him you want a great life with him healthy.
I prayed for all of you this morning. Love Mima

Good morning.

Tammy, sending you lots of big, Soft hugs. This is NOT going to be easy. One of my neighors had Cirosis of the liver and NEVER had a drop of alcohol in his life. He also had cancer of the liver.

I hope you are able to soon get some rest. I am sure all this stress has caused everything to flare a bit. Glad that they are keeping him a few extra days. Only your hubby can decide the path he wishes to take. Keeping you all in my prayers, Tammy.

I certainly don't believe all alcoholics are abusive. Also, they don't all drink in the morning. A lot of people believe, that because they drink only beer, that they are not and cannot become alcoholics. Sadly, that is a mistake. My uncle was a "beer" alcoholic.

Meme - nice to see you back. Have missed you.

Mima - I guess I am like Mima. I don't agree with the acting sad part either. COMMUNICATION is one of the most important tools that we have. Certainly, I agree with not nagging, but everybody in your family is affected, not just your hubby.

Joanne - hope you got the rain you wanted. It is cool here and maybe some snow flurries on the way, at least in the mountains and foothills.

Everybody have a great day. I am heading off to work today.

Meme, I pretty much knew this was coming from tests he had done last spring. He had been told to stop drinking. I haven't bugged him about the drinking, BUT I have told him that we need to get our cemetary plots and tombstone picked out just in case. Mean, aren't I??? If he does start drinking again, I'm not sure how I'll handle it. He told the doctor yesterday that he thinks he's going to get me a baseball bat to keep around the house to use on him. The doctors are pleased with the support that he is receiving. They said many people come in that bad, and they have no one.

Mima, right now, Bob wants to talk to our pastor instead of going to any support group. I may have already said that our pastor's father, brother, and sister were all alcoholics, so he is very familiar with what it does to a family.

Well, I need to get moving. I'm finishing up a load of laundry, and I'm trying to straighten things up around here. I've kind of let things go. I plan to leave for the hospital about 11:00. That will get me there at noon. It's a long drive, but I turn on the radio and sing my fool head off. Do you guys ever listen to K-Love? Christian radio? I also listen to a local Christian station. In a few weeks I am helping with the fall shareathon for the local station. I'll be answering phones and taking pledges. Should be fun!

Thanks for all of the prayers. I do believe that the prayers are helping!!

Tammy-I think that the whole situation is going in the right direction.I was thinking of you this morning when I read a meditation page that said to look at how great God is-not at the situation. I surely need that too. I remember that my mother had an infection in her liver from drinking cheap wine and that my brother got some crazy disease in his liver from beer and they said it was genetic.
Still recovering from doing all that walking at the Big E. we don't have to do that again.
Going to finish the baby quilt today. Shower on Sunday.
Tammy-you are doing great-Christian music always gives me comfort.Mima

Tammy- I hope this was just a wakeup call for your hubby and that he can stop drinking.. I lived around alcohol all my life.my mother was a bad alcoholic. She was not a nice person when she was drinking.. So in that respect that your hubby was good and didn't hurt you or himself you are lucky..I pray he can get well..
Meme- Do you still have your poodle? Christie is a year old this month.. She is still very much a puppy.. I am told she will not really mature till she is almost 2 yrs..I try to walk her 3 miles every day half in the morning and half at night..That way she is getting rid of some of that excess energy..The walk helps me and my nerves too.
Mima- You are always talking about making baby quilts.. Do you do them on the machine?
Happy we are getting some light rain... We hope to get more tomorrow.. But, untill we see it we didn't get it!!!This area seems to always miss out..I live a mile from the Gulf of Mexico..It usually passes right over and out to the gulf.

Well, this quilt was a hurry up job-already printed on some cute material-I just hand-quilted the lines on it and sewed it together. People keep having babies!!!!Now I will have to make one for Angela's baby-I can take my time on that one.
My cousin got taken to the hospital the other night with kidney stones-and she was supposed to be at parent's night last night! I hope she is better today-I will call Auntie-she's her daughter that she lives with.
My daughter just got a dog-3 year old beagle -female -mix. I wonder how the cats will like that.
I am guessing Bob comes home today-What an ordeal! Hope you all readjust well.
My gf's daughter, who just went to college, is having a terrible time because. in the middle of her adjusting to being away , and all her friends scattered everywhere, her bf broke up with her. The college has been wonderful- a counselor has stepped in and also other people. My gf had to go there yesterday.
Chiro today-am catching up on bills etc. Mima

Anne, you and I must have been typing our messages the other day at the same time! My cousin's mother in law died last winter of cirr. of the liver. She never drank. When I was telling her bob's symptoms last week, she was horrified since they had just gone through that. She's a nurse, so she understands more of this stuff than I do.

Mima, bob's dad had liver problems and didn't drink, so I think bob had some of those same problems and we didn't know it. The beer and all of the Tylenol he has taken over the years did the rest of the damage.

Joanne, bob has never been mean to Tim or me. He gets grumpy sometimes, but nothing bad. I'm sorry that you had to live around someone who was mean.

I talked to 2 doctors today. They both said bob will be coming home tomorrow! They couldn't guarantee a time, but that's ok!!!! I have a chiro appt in the morning. She is really helping with the stress and tension that I"ve had these two weeks. They play all Christian music in their office, and she and I have been on an Emmaus Team together in the past. Wonderful lady.

Tim will be home after his last class tomorrow, so he'll be here to help out over the weekend. I know our pastor will be here sometime over the weekend. I told Tim that he and I will leave so he and bob can have some privacy.

Thanks for all of your prayers ladies!!! It has helped so much!!!! Just knowing that I have you to spill my guts to has helped me.

Tammy, I hope you get Bob home and that he will start to get better. It won't be easy for any of you, I am sure. Glad that Tim is going to be home for the weekend to help you out. Alcohol and tylenol are so lethal! I worry about my brother, as he drinks and takes tylenol like candy. Also, he is a diabetic and has heart problems. So far no known liver problems.

I don't know much about alcoholics as I have never been around them (except my brother, and I would have gleefully choked him many years ago:lol:

I am glad you can find comfort in Christian music and that your chiro is good for you. That really helps a lot. My prayers are with you and your family.

Mima - I feel sorry for your cousin. I am quite sure that kidney stones are very, very painful. Hope they can dissolve them. Babies, babies, babies - you have lots of new ones in your family. Such treasures they are.

I am tired tonight. Been working to many hours and I should just say NO!!! Next week, only 2 days and I am happy about that. This week has been everyday, 3 full days and 2 half days. I DON"T WANT TO WORK EVERYDAY!!

Hopefully my glasses will be ready soon. I am wearing my old ones and that precription is 5 years old. I can see, but not as clearly as I would like, especially on the computer.

Got the results of my mammogram and bone scan and all is well.

Hi Joanne and Meme. Hope you two are doing well today.

Joanne, yes ... still have Ginger. She has her moments. She was 9 mos. old the 10th of this month. She will go for a couple of weeks with no slip-up and just when I think she is totally housebroken and I don't have to worry about her anymore, she has a little 'accident'. Then there are the times when she sneaks down in the basement and gets one of my rubber stamps I used when I was teaching and chews it up or gets in my plants. They are like little "terrible-twos" toddlers. You have to watch them every minute ... always into something. But ... it's interesting around here ... never a dull moment. And she's sweet and cuddly, I love her, and the kids all love her, too.

Tammy, glad Bob's coming home. I'm still praying for him and for you, too. I'm sure you will both do fine. You love each other and that's what matters most! You'll get through this.

Going to a women's conference tomorrow night and Sat. from 9 to 4 with daughter. Got the schedule in the mail yesterday ... some interesting sessions. Can't decide which ones I want to sign up for. Lisa Harper is speaking at 6 tomorow night. She's really good. I'm looking forward to the weekend ... hope you all have a good one, too.

Wow for that conference. Meme. Sounds good.
God is with you, Tammy. I am glad he is coming home today. And that Tim is coming home.
I have been around too many alcoholics. Don't know what's happening with my younger brother-he was worried he didn't have a job. I sure hope he is going to AA.
We have the apt in the paper but it's not ready yet. Trying to get a feel about anyone interested. It sure is going to be nice. Very white but they can paint it if they want. Floor going in next week.
Women's bible study about the promises of God. Yeah.
Waiting for a check that was due a month ago from money owed to Brad. She will go ballistic if we call. It's half paid.
Suzanne got the cutest dog-3 years old and part beagle but it doesn't look like a beagle. She was going to rename her.
Bye for now-Mima
ps-my chiro gave me an article on IBS. Besides probiotics and digestive enzynes-it mentions seratonin. And magnesium which gives me pains. I will try anything.

Good morning. Nice a fresh outside today, only 34egrees, but sunny. Good day to do some housework. Got all my venetian blinds cleaned last weekend, so will putz around doing other jobs today.

Meme - enjoy your conference. Sounds interesting.

Mima - Hope you get the apt. rented soon. When are you leaving for Florida?

Tammy - hope you got Bob home and settled. It will be far easier on you, than travelling back and forth to the hospital.

Joanne - It's good you have the dog, as it gets you out walking. Hope your knee has been better the past while, because it is so hard to walk when it hurts.

How cute, Anne. I have a lot of friends who are English majors and they would love that.
Hope you are well, Tammy.
I ate ice cream last night-took 3 lactaids but still had a stomache ache. But not bad.
Suzanne is not going to the baby shower-so I am driving acroos the whole state on this non-highway, listening to my Christian music while Brad goes to Springfield with his niece-to see his sister.
One young lady called about the apt-someone with the highest pitched voice. I think it was a bit too expensive for her.
We went to a concert at church-Ernie Couch and the Revivals. I like 2 of the singers. My gf and her husband went with us. We are going to share the driving to go to work-one week her and one week me. I usually like to bring my car but I really like her so it will be nice.
Bye for now, Mima-if I don't show up, I will be lost in RI-not really as I have a GPS.

Nobody to respond to! Sure hope all of you are well-Tammy how is it going??
Drove to Woonsocket-3 hours is all to go to the shower-daughter decided she couldn't go but it was just as well because she wouldn't have had the patience to stay there for 3 hours. It wasn't a big shower but bf's mother had it decorated beautifully.
We rented the apt-a nice young man from Canada who has certain requests which will only better the apt. He was called to work in the area-computer person. Loved it because it's brand new.
Off to work-so glad gf is picking me up-I am exhausted after yesterday. Mima

Hi everyone!! Sorry I haven't posted. Bob was able to come home late Friday afternoon. It has been pretty busy around here. I decided that when he naps, I will too. That way maybe I can keep going. He had gained almost 50 pounds from the fluid build up, not sure that I told you that. From Sat. to this morning, he is down 10 pounds on our scales, so I think things are moving in the right direction. It is wonderful having him home.

Anne, glad to hear about your mammo and bone scan. Always a relief, isn't it? I loved the trivia that you sent!!!

Meme, I can't believe Ginger is that old already! Seems like only yesterday that you got her.

Mima, I guess you didn't get lost! lol Glad you found someone for the apartment!!! Big relief, huh?

Bob is napping, so I should be too. Decided to catch up on here first. Even the dog is napping!!!! I have a chiro appt. later today, a nutrition class given by the chiro, and then water aerobics. Bob said he'd be ok by himself, but I might change my mind about doing everything. Also have to exchange the shoes that I bought him. They aren't big enough since his feet are so swollen.

Have a great day everyone!

Hello Everybody... I spent part of sat in the vets office . I noticed that something was wrong with Christies left back leg.. She has a problem with the knee joint. It slips out of joint.. They said she probably was born that way.. They said if she can't deal with it and get it back when it goes out that we may have to have surgery on it..OUCH! So far she has been able to get it back when it happens. No walking for her for 2 weeks except in house and outside to go to B/R..This I didn't need..
Tammy- I hope things are working for the better for you and hubby.
Mima, Happy- This has been a fairly quiet weekend.. We went out to a family dinner for great nephews 18th B/D.. The kid got a bid surprise... The dinner was nice and we got to see most of the family..
Meme- Christie is 1 year old the 26th this month.. I still have about another year till she is settled down and more mature... She has been house broke for sometime. So far no accidents in a long while.. I better go take her out befor she makes a fibber out of me.
It has been a little rainy.. Not as much as we need.. Now they are saying the rain season is about over.. I see why some peopleput all rocks in their yards.. The weeds still pop up though..

Joanne, poor Christie! Keep us posted on how she is doing. Glad you are getting a little rain, but I wish you were getting more. Bob's niece moved to Tampa several years ago from Key West. When looking for a house, she wanted one with no grass in the front yard so she didn't have to worry about it. We were there the end of July, and her yard has rocks, a variety of plants, and as she says "beautiful weeds!!".

The oxygen therapy lady will be here this morning.
I ended up not going to water aerobics last night because the class lasted longer than I thought that it would. I'm glad that I went though.

Bob and I went shopping yesterday. We picked out lots at the cemetary, and then we went to the monument place and chose a tombstone. We had planned to do that ages ago, but we never did. He said he does't want me to have to deal with it alone if something happens. I reminded him that I could die first, but he doesn't think that will happen. He was on the phone with our financial advisor asking questions yesterday, and he plans to talk to our attorney about our will. That we have had in place for many years, and we updated it about 1.5 years ago.

From the looks of the weather report, we're going to be having several days of rain. Joanne, I'll see if I can blow some of it in your direction.

I hate doing that stuff tammy-but when it's done, you will have peace of mind and forget it.I will have to change things next summer because my huge insurance policy will be expired and I need to make sure Brad gets the rest. Now we have the apt that will be income. He loses my pension if I go first.
The new tenant will not move in til Nov 1 so that gives Brad some breathing room and makes us a week later to leave but he has been going loke gangbusters.
The new tenant Josh is from Ontario. He has been here 2 days -the first one he and Brad went to HD to buy his frig and stove-he wants new ones and is willing to pay-plus he wanted a different counter top and sliders on the closet. Willing to pay for all of that. He fooled around with my computer to put a router on it. He couldn't get back online so he came back. Turns out the line was not working because of Verizon.
Oh boy-the water went off again because the filter is plugged. It was only a couple of weeks ago that we put a new one in. Little kinks that have to be worked out before we leave.
Only 2 days work so we came home last night but I got my shopping in on Mon night. We sure had a good time.
Maybe next week we will get our 3 days in.
That's sad about Christie. you don;t need the expense of a vet. Hope she will be ok.
Hi Meme and Anne.

Good morning.
I need to whine. Just the facts. Mike called me-he and Jill are having problems over her alcoholic brother staying with them plus!
Jessica's bf is cheating on her.
They tried to put the floor in and it kept falling apart. Brad had to go to HD and get a different one-costs 2x as much.
Stomache hurts.
The good news-we can get all our money back on the first floor.
Jessica's bf will go to counseling with her.
Mike wants to go to counseling-br says he is leaving.
I need to let go and put them in God's hands-I feel bad for all of them.
Filter is not plugged.
