Unhappy So Sad

Soooooo....I got a new scale yesterday that now has me 7lbs higher than what my old scale said yesterday. I know that I have probably still lost something, but looking at that number made me feel like I have been doing NOTHING for the past 2 weeks. I even got discouraged and went over my cals last night. Luckily I caught myself and only went over by 100 or so cals and I'm back on track. Has this happened to anyone else? I feel so horrible and just had to vent. Thanks for listining

But you did! If your old scale shows loss...You DID lose weight. Your starting weight was just 7 pounds higher than what you previously thought. Don't get discouraged!

I sort of went through this, this week. I bought a new scale several months ago, and I don't like it as much as the older one. The older one is easier to use, as it has a more stable base, and the new one errs out at least twice before registering the weight. It isn't because of my weight, as it even does this with the 12 lb cat (she loves getting weighed so she'll sit really still - but that's another story). Any way, the old scale weighs me almost 4 lbs heavier than the new scale (the cat 1 lb heavier, so it must be a percentage off rather than a flat amount). I want to go back to the old scale, but it bugs me too much that it weighs me higher, so I've actually been weighing myself on both. Stupid!

I had a similiar experience this week. I weighed on my housemate's scale. The scale is new and mine is very old. On the new scale I weighed 20 pounds more. I don't believe it for a moment!

Hey, a loss is a loss! No matter what the starting weight, you've still lost those pounds. A higher number sucks, for sure...very discouraging. But no matter what the accurate starting weight, you're still going in the right direction. Try not to let this get to you too much. Keep up the good work, because it is paying off! Don't let the new starting weight say otherwise.

I went through the same thing when I started. I was actually 10 lbs heavier than I thought. Don't worry about it. You still lost the same amount of weight. You just had a higher starting weight (as I did). It bothered me when I discovered it, but in the grand scheme of things its not a big deal. My current scale weighs the same as my Dr.'s so I would rather have that than a surprise when I do to see the Doc!

This is exactly what happened to me. I bought a new scale and it weighed me 6 pounds more. I was a little depressed, but I know that I probably lost the same amount of pounds, I just didn't weigh the same number. Don't be discouraged!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone!!! I guess I'll just have to add 7lbs to my starting weight and move everything else up. Good news is my scale shows a 2.8lb loss I owe it to you guys for not letting it get me down and going on an emotional binge. I'm glad I found this place
