View Full Version : Help I've been living in denial

07-31-2007, 11:21 AM
This thread is for all you ladies who saw your reflection one day and thought
"IS THAT ME?" :yikes:Are you ready to recognize yourself again?:dust:
Well, its a new month so lets start fresh.:cheer2:

We welcome all new people :welcome2:and your ideas along with our old friends :grouphug:who have been with us on our previous thread.

We are here to encourage,:club: (just kidding) encourage,
laugh, motivate :high: and most of all begin to "recognize ourselves again!":belly:

Well tomorrow is a new month.:carrot: So I'm going to start my diet AGAIN on August 1.:^:
I will change my ticker to reflect my weight loss:o and I wrote my measurements down,:dz: have my food for the week:hungry: and even stepped on the scales to see what I weighed!! :stress:
Its time to get serious again.:sumo: I've been up and down to long. :dizzy:

I hope I can find a few people ready to get started again.:cp: I think there is some of you still wanting to get this weight off. :yes:We can do it if we get focused,:mag: quit living in denial or worse yet GIVE UP!!:mcd: So for those of you who haven't met your goal weight and would like to start again. LET'S DO IT!:cheer:

I'm Kiwi, and my goal is to be in a size 10 by my birthday Oct 24, 2007. I only have 3 months to achieve that so I have got to quit making excuses!!:blah:

I could use some help if you would like to join me!:carrot:

08-01-2007, 10:31 AM
School is starting to wrap up.....2 more nights!!!!!! My foot is on the mend and I am ready to start again. I have an ortho appointment tomorrow to find out how much longer I have to wear this stupid boot. My sister fell last week and broke her left ankle....they put her in a boot just like mine except she has a 'curb finder' on the toe portion. Not sure what that is for......

Kiwi.....I am so ready to start again.....I watch what I eat but the weight just isn't coming off. I think it loves me too much! :)

08-01-2007, 12:13 PM
August 1st!!!!!!:cp: I am so ready Kim to get this weight off!:lifter: I think I'm going to get back on WW. :goodvibes That worked for me until I went off. Plus its alot more flexible for me. Anyway, I actually got my husband to diet with me. :lucky:This way we can lose weight and be accountable. He tends to make me cheat because he loves to eat out and tempt me with ice cream.:hun: So, I told him every 5 pounds I lose he wins.....:o ha ha ha But the down side to that is if I'm not winning neither is he!!

Anyway, Kim I plan on weighing every day. :goodscale I'll probably change my ticker as I lose. That's just me, it motivates me. :cheer2: I hate surprises and need to know daily how I'm doing. Some people can't do that but I can.

Well, its you and me girl so lets make this thing work!!:high:

08-01-2007, 08:06 PM
Hi Kim & Kiwi,
Well it's nice to see you ladies here. I have really missed the daily chats but I haven't crashed yet.

But i do have a problem with scales:goodscale:goodscale!!! Two digital scales Two manufactuers Two differant weights!!!!!!! :frypan: So what do I do:rolleyes: If I go with the one I have lost 10pds which isn't remarkable but hey it's 10pds and the other says 16pds. Of course I like that one better:rofl:
Should I maybe split the differance? Hmm I wonder

Anyhow Kiwi you can do it you have 3months that is a loooooong time! Will sure to give you that :kickbutt: when you need it. We will all make it to our goals one day. Right now mine is 215 by Christmas. Not a huge goal but it's 1pound at a time.

Kim glad to hear the schooling is almost done. The boot must be driving you crazy:crazy:

Anyways ladies must be back to work will drop a note tommorow. Take Care.... keep those goals in sight Tammy:hug:

08-02-2007, 01:01 AM
Hi Tammy, I'm glad you are still with us. :carrot: I think you should go with one scale and put the other in a closet! It doesn't matter which one but hey this post is about women 'LIVING IN DENIAL"! I would try to figure out which one was your actual or closes weight and keep that.:goodscale It may not be what you want but it will be the truth.

:yoga:You can't be who you want to be until you stand in the truth of who you really are!! :yoga:

Hey Kim I meant to say something earlier but I just can't believe your sister has hurt herself also!! OMGosh!! What do you people do in your part of the woods?! Both of you take care!

08-02-2007, 01:09 PM
Check my ticker out!!!:dancer:

That's right BAAABBBEEEE!!! I lost 3 pounds!!!:high:

08-02-2007, 06:07 PM
Well Kiwi you are right i know that!!:( Going to the doctor next week maybe i will check against that one. But 234 really looks good:D
It is really hot here today the sun fries my poor little brain and then i end up with a killer headache:dizzy:
Kim hope you and your sister recover quickly! Take care of yourself
Gotta Run
Take Care will try and get on here later or tommorow. Tammy

08-03-2007, 11:41 AM
Good Morning,

Weighed in and still at 184. I need to start some type of exercise.:lifter: I don't get enough. I hate walking, running.:kickcan: I like to bike ride but not every day maybe once a week so that's not good.:dunno: I like dancing but the CD I've found don't keep my attention long enough so I'll stay committed. :halfempty

How is everyone else doing these last 3 days? :goodluck:

08-04-2007, 04:27 PM
Well....the last few days have been......unreal. I found out on Thursday that I have to wear the boot for at least 6 more weeks. Not very happy because it limits several any type of exercise. No weight on the broken heel for 6 more weeks. Almost finished with school......turned in my final project this past Thursday so this coming Thursday is just a final and then I am done....done.....done. It will seem weird not having to go to school on Thursday nights from 6 to 10 like the past two years. Now it is time to concentrate on ME and getting this weight off.
Kiwi....great job on the weight loss!!!!!! WamTam great your back on schedule! I agree, go with the scales closest to the Docs.

08-06-2007, 08:27 AM
Hi Ladies
I know it has been a while but with retiring and a couple of parties and off to Michigan last week so my husband could be a part of the wedding for the oldest daughter It was really nice a beach wedding at sun set at Lake superior where the two hearted river flows into the lake

I did weigh in this morning at 160 that not to bad considering the excesses of the last couple of weeks I am ready to start again My original goal was to be at 135 by the time I retired Well that did not happen so I will reset my goal to be at my goal weight by christmas I know that is very generous amount of time but sometimes those last few lbs are hard to get rid of

Well I better go the garden is loaded with veggies I have zucchini and beans coming out the ying yang

Take care and let all start again and win this battle suz :carrot:

08-06-2007, 01:33 PM
Hi everyone:wave:

Kim, I hate to hear you have to wear that boot but I guess you hate
it more! :sorry:

Suz, you are really enjoying retired living, aren't you!!;) That's great about your daughter's marriage. I've seen a beach wedding and they are beautiful. Were they barefoot in the sand? Awesome about your weight!!:carrot:

I'm still at 184. :smug:It really sickens me to think I was 170 and gained 14 back but hey at least I'm back on track.:^: Hopefully, I won't get off course again.

I need a challenge.:chin: What can we do as a group that will be challenging to each other with a bit of friendly competition to get us going?:woohoo:

08-07-2007, 01:15 PM weight isn't going anywhere but up. I guess I need to follow the ww plan. I have all the stuff but I just need to sit down and figure it all out. 2 more days before my last night of class.....that excites me and there will be no excuse not to concentrate on me, myself and I. Praise oldest son was afraid they were going to put him in jail for probation violation.....they just increased the amount of time spent in the probation office and they are really leaning heavy on AA meetings. YAY!!!! It is amazing when you leave it in GOD's hands. Got to get back to work!!!!!

08-08-2007, 12:42 AM
Hey Kim,
What is your son on probation for?

I like WW also. Although I am having trouble staying within my points. Thank goodness for the 35 extra!

Hope everyone had a great day. I took the kids to the Dollar movie around here and saw Shrek 3. That movie was so funny and the kids loved it. Then we went the Pizza pub because on Tuesday its family night and they play all kinds of games with the kids and and the kids when free stuff. Needless to say I ate 1 to many pizza slices! ha ha ha

08-08-2007, 12:28 PM
Kiwi....he is on probation for public intoxication. He learned not to drive about 7 years ago. Just another bump in the road. I have wore my knees out on this boy but I will continue.

I am thinking about the core plan....any experience on that?

08-09-2007, 07:39 AM

Kiwi so you think we should have a challenge I think we should too My mind right now is blank but I am sure if we all chat about it we will come up with a good idea I will think about that today and see what I can come up with

The bride and groom were barefoot and I stood up for my daughter and I was also barefoot If there were others barefoot I did not notice

Take care suz :carrot:

08-09-2007, 10:04 AM
i haven't down the core plan with WW. I just stay on the Flex. But alot of people I know are on it and love it. You lose the same about of weight either way from what I can tell its just which ever suits you better.

Suz I'll try to think of something too. I really think it would help.

08-10-2007, 01:07 AM
I did it!! I actually applied for a job!! I made a resume and sent it on line to a big company around here. Last time I applied for a job was in 1979 and I stayed there until 1992. Then moved to Florida. Where I've been a house Goddess ever since. I miust admet when I started writting a resume and putting down everything I've done over the years (even if it was volunteer work) I was pretty impressed with myself!! ha ha

08-10-2007, 10:35 AM
Kiwi.....congrats! I bet it is a little scary jumping back in but you can do it!!! Hey, where would we be without volunteers???? is complete for me. My last class in the Masters program was last night and I ended with a GPA of 3.9...pretty good. Ouch, I just twisted my elbow patting myself on the back.

Time to get re-motivated and get this weight off.

08-11-2007, 07:20 AM
Kiwi good luck on the job hunt What type of job did you apply for?

Kim congrats on getting your Masters degree that awesome

I am still thing about a challeng. I start going back to exercise classes on Monday For the rest of this month the classes are at one of the instructors homes then back to in doors after the begining of Sept where has the summer gone and where has everyone else gone

Lets Keep moving and losing suz:carrot:

08-14-2007, 08:32 AM
Good morning ladies
I can not believe I was the last one to post and I think that was on Saturday what has happened to everyone what has happened to our Monday weekly weigh in and updates on how we all are doing!!!!!! What has happened to our strength and friendly banter that we all need and give out
Shame on all of us me included I guess that maybe everyone else has just given up well i intend to continue with my journey and new life style and maybe some of you will too

PS did weigh in on monday and I am still at 160

08-14-2007, 09:52 AM
Ooops!! Sorry for not writing in ladies, Actually, I thought I had because I read the post yesterday but I must have x'd out without sending.

Kim I guess I wasn't paying attention when you were talking about going to school that you were earning your Masters and a 3.9 at that!! Truly awesome!! What is it in?

Suz have you thought of a challenge yet? Lets do something with exercise 'cause I am not doing any.

My weight went back up to 187 this week. Drives me nuts but it shouldn't I'm not exercising and I really need to.

hey check this out. I found this.

Seven Unhealthy Habits That Prevent Us From Losing Weight
By Frances Largeman, R.D.

1. Skipping Breakfast
We all know the deal: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Still, many of us skip it thinking that it will help us shed pounds. In fact, this bad habit actually packs on the pudge. A recent study found that those who ate ready-to-eat breakfast cereal, hot cereal or even quick breads (like muffins and banana bread) had significantly lower BMIs (body mass indices) than those who skipped breakfast.

2. Eating at Your Desk
Everyone is time-crunched, so it makes sense these days to eat when and where we can in the car, at our desks and in front of the TV. Unfortunately, when we tune into work or to our favorite show, we generally tune out healthy eating habits and don't pay attention to internal cues that tell us we're full. Make time for meals as often as you can. When you designate only the dining room, kitchen and restaurants as places to eat, you're less likely to be distracted and overeat.

3. Cleaning Your Plate
Calories add up. So, even that light pasta dish or bean burrito can add girth if you're taking in more calories than you're burning off. Beverages and snack foods are common culprits for including multiple servings in what looks to be a single-serving size container. Without thinking, you can down 180 to 240 calories in beverages that are otherwise healthy. Check the label and stick to the portion size, even if it means putting the rest in the fridge or taking home a doggie bag.

4. Forgetting Fitness
Many dieters think that just cutting back on calories will lead to lifelong weight loss. This works initially, but only for a while and often leads to yo-yo dieting. Studies show that most people who successfully lose weight and keep it off long-term do so by both cutting calories and adding regular exercise to their lives. Couch potatoes take heart: just 2,000 steps a day will go a long way toward keeping off unwanted pounds. Get a pedometer and get going!

5. Late-night Monster
This is by far one of the most common ways people sabotage their weight loss goals. They've been good all day and had a reasonable dinner. Then they plant themselves in front of the TV, where the munchie monster calls and they head for the chips or ice cream. Other folks are plagued by late-night eating due to long hours at the office. If this is your case, make sure to keep healthy snacks on hand so that you can make a smart choice about what to eat when you finally get home.

6. Fat Phobia
If you eschew fat of any kind and live in the land of fat-free food, you're not getting the bargain you hoped for. In addition to making food taste wonderful, fat also helps us feel satisfied. Cut it out of your diet and you'll feel the need to stock up on fat-free, but calorie-full foods, like cookies and pretzels. You're better off keeping your fat intake to about 30% of your total calories and enjoying small portions of your favorite foods once in a while.

7. The Bar Scene
Alcohol, no matter what form it comes in beer, wine or spirits packs on the calories mercilessly. Not only does alcohol contribute seven calories per gram, it also has the effect of making you eat more during a meal. You don't need to be a teetotaler; just try to stick to one drink (for women) or two drinks (for men) per day. If you're at a bar or a party, space each drink you have with a glass of water and avoid super-sugary and calorie-packed tropical and frozen drinks. Also, don't head out for a night on the town without eating something first. Otherwise, you'll fill up on nutrient-free alcohol and really hate yourself in the morning.

08-14-2007, 11:19 AM
Suz.....okay, what is the challenge going to be? masters is in Business Administration with a specialization in accounting. Sounds exciting???
Did very good on my food yesterday....even I am impressed. I probably didn't eat enough though. I made the WW vegetable soup that my kids loved but I didn't get around to eating it yet. I had the Weight Control Oatmeal for breakfast. Tuna salad made with mustard and light mayo in a whole wheat tortilla wrap and a salad for lunch. Had chicken/ricotta cheese raviolis with heatlhy tomatoe sauce for dinner. Looking at this.....I needed more fruit and vegetables.....I will work on this today.

08-14-2007, 11:43 PM
Good Evening

did well all day until evening when I had pizza. (family night) Wasn't even that good of pizza and I ate it anyway. I'm so bad.

How is everyone else doing?

08-15-2007, 12:05 AM
I feel the pounds dropping off......

Can't eat Beef, :moo: Mad cow........ Can't eat chicken, :chicken: bird flu.... ..Can't eat eggs,:easter: Salmonella......... Can't eat pork, :ink: fears of trichinosis......Can't eat fish, heavy metals in the waters has poisoned their meat :barf:...........Can't eat fruits:cb: and veggies,:broc: insecticides and herbicides..........Hmmmmmmmmm?????????!!! :chin:

I believe that leaves Chocolate!!!!!!!! :m::chockiss::encore:

Remember - - -
spelled backwards! is
" DESSERTS " :cookie::woohoo::cookie:

08-15-2007, 01:22 PM
Yesterday was a very good food day for me. I had a soy protein cherry smoothie for breakfast. Orange for mid morning snack. Tuna wrap and salad for lunch. Vegetable soup for afternoon snack. Grilled fish, green beans and brown rice for dinner.

08-16-2007, 08:35 AM
So you want a challenge?

1 post weight on Monday morning Also take your measurements bust waist hips arms (bicep area) and thighs about mid way on thighs These numbers are for your eyes only because sometimes you may not lose weight but you may lose inches

2 keep a food journal of what you eat and how much

3 Try to exercise 3 times per week for 1 hour Try to do a variety of exercises and also try to do some weights You get an after effect from doing weights and exercise you continue to burn more after you are done

4 try to drink at least 64 ounces of water each day I read some where that you are suppose to drink 1 oouce of liquid (water fruit juice sport drinks etc ) for each pound you weigh In my case I weigh 160 so 160 oz per day If you drink coffee for each cup you drink add another 8 oz of water

since we are mid month we can do this until the end of Sept For numbers 1, 3 and 4 post your results here the food journal is so you can see what and much or little you are eating

since there just seems to be Kiwi Kim and myself posting we can start today and see how much we can lose in the next 6 weeks and 4 days For any of you other ladies you might be reading but not posting come join us We miss hearing from everyone

so lets get moving and losing Suz :carrot:

08-16-2007, 12:31 PM
Suz.....very good ideas for the challenge. I know I wasn't aware I wasn't eating enough until I wrote it down....I thought, oh my gosh...not enough vegetables. :)

08-18-2007, 07:05 AM
Glad that helps you Kim I was looking at my food intake I too need to eat more fruit The experts say you shoukd eat 5 to 10 servings of fruit and veggies thats the 2 combined I have tried and its not easy to do

Got to go and put last mights dinner in journal

Lets get moving and losing suz :carrot:

08-21-2007, 07:34 AM
Just a quick note I have been filling my food jourrnal I went to exercise classes yesterday I am not quite drinking enough water i have to work on that one and my DH and I went out for 2 meals on the weekend and when I weighed in Monday morning I was up 2 lbs those buffets are killers It just means I will have to work harder

suz :carrot:

08-21-2007, 11:42 AM
Suz.....I am with you on the water and I haven't been able to exercise because of the broken right foot. I fell last Friday and broke my right big toe and twisted my left ankle. AUGH!!!!!! I feel like all odds are against me but that just makes me more determined. I haven't got on the scales yet since I am not supposed to put weight on my right foot.....not sure if the reading will be accurate. Any idea? I have a yearly check up on Friday so I will know for sure by then ..... my doctor takes no excuses.

08-22-2007, 10:03 PM
Oh my gosh what are you doing to yourself When you are at the doctor you can ask him about what you can do until you are healed up i don't think you will be going dancing for a while Take care of yourself and when you get better then you can start working on the exercise

Suz :carrot:

08-24-2007, 10:11 PM
Never fear...Jen is here!

So, it's been a LONG time since I've been online. The end of last semester kicked my butt, and it all came together at the very end with my being kicked off the school newspaper (I was leaving anyway because the leadership/editorness was a joke and hypocrisy runs high in a religious school). Then I didn't have internet ALL summer! But, I'm back now and pretty much as bad as ever. However, I graduate college in about 9months, and I am determined to lose as much as I can. Over the summer, I joined a gym and even got into it before getting sick. Well, no more. I'm going back there, and I'm going to make it a point to work out everyday. I've been living in denial these past few months, and it has got to stop.

But anyway, how are y'all doing? :)

08-27-2007, 04:34 PM
Well Jen welcome back This thread has been very slow this summer Its like everyone left maybe after Labour day some will come I don't know if you got to read any past posts or not we have challenge on right now It runs until the end of Sept its pretty basic

1 Must exercise at least 3times per week
2 Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day
3 keep a private food journal to see if you are eating enough and the right stuff
4 go back to posting Monday weigh ins

I think that was everything I weighed myself this morning and I am at 158

Take care and maybe some of the others will return soon suz

08-27-2007, 11:54 PM
Suz.....I did everything but the exercise. I weighed on Friday at the doctor's office and I was 244. AUGH!!!!! I can bearly take the inactivity. Feet are feeling much better but I still have another 3.5 weeks to wear the walking boot on the right foot. Big toe is still hurting but there isn't anything they can do for a broken toe. LOL!!!! I am such a clutz.

08-28-2007, 02:53 PM
HI ladies
I have been terrible with writing here with everything going on there just dosen't seem the time but have stayed mostly true to myself.
I am starting Suz's challenge tommorow I know I won't get as much time as you dedicated ladies but that is all good. I am sitting at 239 my goal by the end of september is 230.
I have a new black lab cross puppy 11 weeks old last friday so our daily walks should help with the exercising. She keeps me running lots so will see.
Well summer is turning to fall quickly for us here in the north temp was 0 this morning.... time to pick the peas. Leaves are changing color that bad word sn.. could be anytime. Not that it will stay yet.
Last camping trip of the season coming up this long weekend, and bf's son is back from his mom's so things will start to settle down hopefully!!!
Take Care Ladies will try and get on here more often really do miss you all!! :(

I better go its going to be a busy day cut grass do up some more bread and butter pickles and pick more stuff from the garden

08-29-2007, 11:04 AM

I weighed this morning and I weighed 238.5......ya!!!!!!!!! Food has been great, water has been great but I am still limited on my exercise. I did go shopping with my daughter and she had me walking all over the place....I guess that counts. I finally told her to take me home because even though the walking boot isn't that still wore my butt out. LOL!!!!

08-31-2007, 08:31 PM
Hi ladies Just a quick note

Yes, I am on MySpace and I have Tammy and Kiwi as friends.....I thought maybe Kiwi had gotten a job....I just don't think she is on as much. Life has ups and downs and people handle them differently. I justed weighed inand I am still at 160 I am really looking forward to WW this Thursday I am hoping this is exactly what I need to get rid of these last 25 lbs I will let you all know how thursday goes

suz :carrot:

09-25-2007, 11:36 AM
Suz.....I may have to join WW too. My plan isn't working for me so I may have to get a new way to lose. :) Biggest Loser is on tonight!

09-25-2007, 04:49 PM
I am looking forward to going to WW it has been about 4 years since I was there and lost almost all the weight except 6 lbs and i got discouraged because i felt like the leader was not giving the support to the newer people like me but only to those she had in her group for a while This WW should be better I should know alot of the people since is right here in the small town I live near and the leader is a friend

I will let you know how the first weigh and class goes the other good thing is my hubby is going to do the WW with me but is not going to do the classes He is going to eat what I eat and maybe he will get rid of some of his extra weight he says his weight is OK but he is only 5' 6"" and about 185 he could use to lose about15 or 20 lbs

Take care suz:carrot:

09-25-2007, 05:49 PM
Hi ladies
Wow we had snow the other day it didn't stick but it was white fluffy stuff...
Hope everyone is doing well Weighed in yesterday at 238 groan I have been very good with eating and drinking lots of water but no luck with losing the weight. Need more exercise.
Good luck with WW Suz i hope it works out wonderfully for you!!
Take Care Ladies will check in again in the next day or so. BFN

09-27-2007, 11:45 PM did your first meeting go? Share some going to do the flex or core?

09-28-2007, 03:35 PM
Quick note hope you ladies have a great weekend! Am too busy at work today so won't have a chance to get back on here. Lots of yard work to do this weekend leaves are all falling off the trees.
Suz how did the first meeting go?
Kim how you doing without the boot on? One day at a time one little step at a time.
Take Care talk to you all monday

09-29-2007, 09:26 PM
The first meeting went well I weighed myself at home before the meeting and there scales are 4 lbs heavier than mine I was 164 at the meeting there was 23 people there When I was at the meeting I thought I would do the core plan but after finding out that certain things were not allowed and you could eat all you wanted I went with the flex plan the last time I was on WW I did the points (flex) and lost 23 lbs It has changed a bit before you had a range of points based on height and weight now it consists of height, gender, age,and activity level You also get a weekly allowance of 35 points which you can use or not use no banking of points this time so far it seems to be working but I have only been on it for 2 days I guess I will know how well I am doing when I get weighed again on thursday I will weigh in on Monday for here
Take care suz :carrot:

09-30-2007, 01:10 PM
Awesome Suz.....I am interested in how well you do. I leave for Las Vegas on Thursday morning so I thought I would wait until I came back to start weight watchers. I am thinking of core plan only because the flex plan gives me too much freedom....I can always change later when I feel I have more control over what I eat. I actually have been thinking about doing the program online since I will start a new job on Nov. 1st and it will entail traveling.

10-01-2007, 07:51 AM
Morning Ladies
Kim I weighed in this morning and I am down 2 lbs and thats only 3 days on WW but the WW weigh in is on Thursday night so we will see So far the flex is going good there is a good list of veggies that are 0 points I have decided to keep a journal of how I am doing and feeling while doing WW I am going to buy the booklet with the full list of foods as we are going away on Oct 6th for about 11 days and I know we will be eating out!!!!!! Hopefully I won't blow the whole "diet " while we are away Its going to be a nice break as we have been very busy since I retired we have only taken 2 days off to go fishing the rest of the time we have doing projects and gardening there is till so much more to do

I better go Have breakfast and do some work I have to leave in about 2 hrs for exercise class
suz :carrot:

10-08-2007, 01:04 PM
Where is everyone? I just got back from Vegas and I am ready to start losing some weight. Not sure how much I gained but it was so fun. Now it's time to get serious.

Sooo, after much complaint on my end, my husband has decided to take action for me. I gave him control of the grocery list this week, and he did pretty good. He lost 147lbs with nutrisystem/southbeach combined so I figure he knows a little bit about how to do it. He bought things that I havent eaten in *months* due to my constantly starting over Phase 1 of Southbeach. Today I ate a grapefruit, and man, was it delicious! Today is the first day of letting him lead the charge (he wants to lose another 75 or so), and so far so good, but he has tips that weren't acceptable for Southbeachers. Does anyone have any advice for following some else's lead when it kinds goes against what you've taught?

10-16-2007, 11:15 AM
Whew....that is a tough one. If it was me.....I would probably sneak but that is how I handle it. Maybe that is what I need.....someone to take control but I like to be in control and I have 104 pounds to lose. Obviously I don't do very well or I would have never gained this much weight. LOL!!!! Not sure what he is asking that goes against what you have been taught.

This week showed a 2 pound loss but yesterday when I snuck on the scales it was 4.....that is how much I fluctuate. Since Tuesday's are my official weigh in days.....guess I will take the 2 and move forward. :) Have a great day!

wifey bullseye
10-16-2007, 01:39 PM
Not bad things...but take for example fruits and grains...his diet requires so many servings a day; mine says that for the first phase fruits and grains are taboo. the problem is, i've been first phasing for so long (and cheating, thats why i'm still in first phase), that i'm not going anywhere. congrats on your 2 extra pounds!

10-16-2007, 02:36 PM
Now, if you were doing You On A Diet.....the fruits are very important to have and the grains need to be whole grains. Stay away from the High Fructose Corn Syrup that is in almost everything. Eat foods in their natural form or as close as possible. I think we all have our own individual body chemistry and what may have worked for your hubby, may not work for you. And also, what worked for him in the past may not work for him in the future. I did weight watchers when I was in high school but the new changes to the program do not work for me personally now. I think it is because there is too much flexible planning.

hey guys! :D

I started out in the original thread (I think it was in the introduction forum or something) anyway... I kinda fell off the bus. (Obviously) But I'm back at 3FC and I just came across this thread and it made me happy to see that some of the same people are still here and going strong! So yeah I'm back... I don't know if anyone will remember me or not but it doesn't really matter I guess.

Anyway I'll be posting tomorrow see yall later!

Morning to all I went to my WW meeting thursday night and was surprized by the fact i did not gain any weight but also did not lose ant either so I did OK for not tracking for 13 days Back to counting points
I am staring to feel better but still some what congested in my chest I did not go to exercise class on Wed or fri but will go back on Mon I will post weight on Monday Have a good weekend Ladies

suz :carrot:

10-20-2007, 06:34 PM
I am scared of a gain this week....I went out of control on Wednesday night and haven't been able to bring it all back in yet. I ordered the 'Bean' and I guess it may take almost 3 weeks to get it? You do exercises on it instead of the ball...more stable because you know how clutzy I am. Have a great weekend!!!!

wifey bullseye
10-20-2007, 06:42 PM
Haha, I have a ball that I paid big bucks for that is just collecting dust. The most use it's gotten in the past 6 months is when my husband had to entertain a 2-yr old we were babysitting. I was wondering about the bean, let me know how it goes for you...

10-22-2007, 06:37 AM
Morning Ladies

I think I finally got this WW stuff if it says 1 cup you measure 1 cup just because some fods are 0 points like a lot of veggies are within reason you can eat a lot of them!!

i weighed in this morning and am down 2 lbs I can do this I will get to my goal weight its just taking longer than I thought, but if you look at it how long did it take to put the weight on?

suz :carrot:

10-23-2007, 08:45 AM
Down 3 pounds this week!!!!! Yay.....I must be doing something right because I was sure I would show a gain this week!!!!! I even weighed several times to make sure I was seeing correctly!!!!! Rock on!!!!

10-24-2007, 08:56 AM
Congrats on the lose Kim, tomorrow is my WW weigh in I can do this in fact i am going to do this We all can do this and will I have found that I have to measure the food you can't just fiqure that it looks like a cup I have to measure so it is a cup

Keep up the good work everyone suz:carrot:

10-24-2007, 09:58 AM
Got an email this morning that my BEAN has shipped and should be here in 7 to 10 business days. I just hope I can figure out how to use it. :D:D

10-26-2007, 04:18 PM
Ok you got me what is a bean and what do you use it for?

suz :carrot:

10-26-2007, 06:16 PM
More stable than a stability ball. You work your core muscles.....crunches and such. It is shaped like a bean; hence the name 'BEAN'. Here is the web site

10-31-2007, 05:19 PM
I weighed in at 156 again I hope to be down a few more by next Monday How did everyone else do?

suz :carrot:

11-03-2007, 10:17 AM
Well, my BEAN was supposed to be delivered yesterday but still a no show. I guess I will go to the post office and see if it is there. I was up 4.5 pounds on Tuesday....not sure what is up with that. Could be all the celebration of my last day at the hospital. I started my new job on Thursday so my internet time has been limited to only when I am at home. More later...

11-05-2007, 04:16 PM
Well its Monday again and I weighed in at 156 again I am keeping within my points and exercising 3x per week and am still having a difficult time losing any weight This is week 7 on WW and I am starting to get discouraged Its a lot of money I invested in this and to only lose 4 lbs in 6 weeks

suz :carrot:

11-07-2007, 08:02 AM
No BEAN yet.......I have sent the company an email since I should have received it on Friday.

11-09-2007, 07:53 AM
Got your bean yet? I am still going to WW but I am wondering if her scales are accurate because I always weigh myself at home before the meeting and at the first weigh in there was a 4 lb difference and last night it was almost a 6 lb difference, so by my scale I have lost 6 lb total and by WW scales I have only lost 4 lbs I think I will be trusting my scales which I have checked with weights to see if they are correct and they are

Take care suz :carrot:

11-09-2007, 10:41 PM
No BEAN yet....they have to send me another one because I guess the first one got lost? I am not totally buying that one and after I got upset they apologised. Weight has'nt budge in two weeks. I still keep plugging on.

11-12-2007, 05:13 PM
Good Day
I weighed in this morning at 152 thats the losest I have weighed since the last time I was on WW about 4 years ago When I got weighed at the meeting on Thursday they said I did not lose for that week by there scales I have lost just over 4 lbs but on my scales as of last thursday I had lost 6 lbs and I checked my scales with weights and they are correct any way we will see what there scales say this week

Take care suz :carrot:

11-13-2007, 10:29 PM
I have a friend that just bought a new scales and when she took it out of the box it weighed her 10 pounds heavier than her old scales....she said she was going to take the new one back because it didn't say what she wanted it to say......LOL!!!!!! Why do we do this to ourselves? How are your clothes fitting you? Maybe you building muscle because muscle weighs more than fat. Hang in there can do this!

11-14-2007, 03:16 PM
I have not actually bought the new scales yet but want to take a look at it it is supposed to give your weight ,body fat percent, and bone denisty How it does this i do not know!!!!! I will take a look at it then decide if I want to spend the $30 on it I will let you know if I buy it and what I think

Some of my clothes are fitting better but still what to lose another 15 or 20 lbs

Take care :carrot:

11-19-2007, 03:45 PM
good day
well by my scales this morning I weighed in at 150 I finally got past the weight I was stuck on for so many and now seem to be losing about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs per week if I keep this up i should reach my goal weight by mid Jan 08 then its just a matter of maintaing that

take care suz :carrot:

11-19-2007, 09:10 PM
Suz.....did you get your scales? That is fantastic to finally break the plateau!!!!! Awesome!!!!! My weigh in this week has me down 8 pounds!!!! Finally and I am still waiting on my BEAN.

11-22-2007, 10:35 AM
Kim I have not gotten the scales yet but my husband went and looked at them I will probably go look next week and decide then if I want to buy them

We are getting our first snow storm it started last night as rain then ice pellets then this morning we got some freezing rain and now snow We could get up to 6 to 8 inches of snow i am glad I do not have to drive in this anymore

take care suz :carrot:

11-24-2007, 11:03 AM
Thanksgiving in the states is over!!!! Thank you Jesus! Had a few temptations that caused me to cave but I think I held my own and didn't gain....didn't loose either. Oh well, back on track today.

The BEAN finally arrived but I have been too busy to check it out....quess that is on the agenda today. Still snowing where your at Suz?

11-28-2007, 04:12 PM
Hi Kim
Have you had a chance to use the bean yet?
I weighed in Monday and was up a couple of lbs I have been doing some xmas baking and of course I have to sample everything I heard that the WW group may not continue if the leader does not get enough interest from everyone

Take care suz:carrot:

11-28-2007, 08:07 PM
Hey Suz,
Still too busy to give the BEAN a test drive. I started a new job the first of November and it has been non-stop! I am hoping things will slow down a little bit and the travel will quit long enough to establish a healthy habit. Too bad about the WW thing.....hopefully you can continue. If not....have you checked out the WW support here?

12-04-2007, 09:39 PM
I weighed in yesterday and was back to 152 I also talked to my WW leader and she has enough people for another 8 weeks I am hoping to be close to my goal weight by then I finally realized that I need to exercise every day I got a yoga tape that is a strenghening yoga tape It says you will get strong and flexible doing this It is 60 minutes long so I hope it works I also have 4 tae bo tapes and a step tape You would think I should be really fit and lean but its trying to find the time to do them

Take care suz :carrot:

12-11-2007, 07:15 AM
Hi Kim
well 2 weeks till xmas If I can maintain my weight till after then that will be ok I went to a health store the other day and went to get a cleanse I was going to get a colon cleanse but ended up with a full 7 body system cleanse it a 30 day cleanse I will start it after we get back from michigan It supposed to clean all the toxins out so you will have more energy and all your systems will function better I have done colon cleanses before but never a full cleanse so I will see how it goes

Take care suz :carrot:

12-12-2007, 08:43 AM
Oh, please let me know how that goes. I haven't done colon cleanse but I have done a liver cleanse. Something about getting the toxins out of your system has such a free feel to it. I just haven't had any 'me' time since the first of November. I have been working 12 to 14 hour days with this new job. I am really working for my money now.....believe you me. Have a good trip and don't forget me. :)

12-12-2007, 05:06 PM
Hi Kim
I will let you know how the cleanse goes I have done a colon cleanse before but never the full 7 system one we do not leave for michigan until the 19th or 20th all depends on the weather and we will be back on the 26th or 27th
The trip should be fun and will get to see my brother as well

Take care suz :carrot:

12-29-2007, 11:33 PM
above is the link to Kiwi's myspace. So good to hear about the grand baby!!!! Awesome news!!!! Still hanging in there and working hard to win the battle of the buldge.

12-30-2007, 11:47 PM
Hey everyone remember me? Kiwi? I figured I'd see what everyone was doing. Suz I sent you a private note explaining. Hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Hey its a new year coming up what's on the agenda to lose this weight!! I really want to get in a size 10 this year. Anyone interested in a challenge? Anyone got one! ha ha ha

12-31-2007, 10:40 PM
:grouphug: Welcome Back Ms. Kiwi!!!!! Suz and I have been fanning the :flame: and trying to burn calories!!!! I joined the YMCA about 2 weeks ago and I met with a 'Health Coach' on Saturday after I did my very first Water Aerobics class. I rode a bike for 30 mins and then did the natalaus machines for a full circuit. I made the committment to do the routine on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I am going to either use the treadmill or do water aerobics on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I will take Sunday off in honor of my FATHER; my day of rest.

01-01-2008, 11:37 AM
Oh my gosh!! :high:You are already pumped!! :carrot:
Well, lets make a game plan for the group and the new year. :grouphug:I Seriously, need to exercise. :exercise:Although I've lost some weight I'm gaining my appetite back so I really need to get focused.:mag:

You know the old saying....21 days makes a habit. Lets begin this year working toward making good habits for 2008. :cheer2:

Instead of us focusing on losing weight and starving ourselves lets focus on trying to create good habits and then the weight should come off. :D Not as quickly as we would all love but consistently:goodscale and then since its a habit the odds of gaining it back would be slim. :encore:

I think for the month of Jan we should focus on exercise. :woops::exercise::strong::swim:21 days in a row of exercise to be exact.:bike2:
If we skip a day we start over the 21 days. Make sense? :cp:Then we move to the next month with a new habit. We don't have to get rid of the old. ;)

Keep in mind as far as exercise I realize sometimes people say exercise is not good everyday but for the 21 days we should do it and then after that we can do it 3 days a week or whatever or continue to do a little something everyday. Sound good?:smug:

Okay everyone start tweaking and see what you can add to it .:chin:

Lets have a awesome year!!:D

01-01-2008, 01:36 PM
That sounds very doable! I am up for the challenge! I can do the 21 days straight of exercising!
Maybe the next challenge is no sugar or no diet soda..... just a thought.

01-01-2008, 02:21 PM
That sounds great! :DWe can form some major good habits for the new year!:carrot:

Why don't we start a new post since this one is pretty long and invite some new members to join us over here for the 21 day challenge. :high: We can officially start alittle later so we can make the group bigger and more fun for the challenge. :yay:What's a good day? :shrug:You pick.

If you like I can make a new post with the same name etc and then we can invite the newbies and see if they would like to play along.

01-02-2008, 08:09 AM
Let's let Suz decide. She has been posting at least once a week and yes, you can start the new thread......that will work great! We can let Wam Tam know too through MYSPACE.

01-02-2008, 09:30 AM
I've tried WamTam but she hasn't been on myspace either.:( Danni said she would join in.:D What ever day Suz decides is fine with me. :carrot:

Okay lets think about the rules of the challenge::chin:

1. Jan challenge is EXERCISE :exercise::strong::woops::swim::ebike::running:
Each person must exercise no less than 15 min. a day for 21 days in a row.

2. If the person misses a day they must start all over again. :o

3. The last day to complete the challenge for Jan will be Feb 8. This gives them time to also complete Feb challenge by the end of Feb.;)

4. All those who complete the Jan Challenge by Jan 31 have bragging rights!:p

5. All those who complete the Jan Challenge by Jan 31 will go to there favorite restaurant on the 1st Saturday in Feb and give a toast to the winners of the challenge.:hat: Bring your Digital cameras because we want to see a picture of the happy event!!! :celebrate:

Okay how does that sound? :judge: Any questions or adjustments? :chin:Go to tweeking!:write:

01-02-2008, 10:01 PM
Awesome!!!!! You are the number one party planner!!!!! What a wonderful idea!!!! And the reward will be awesome!!!!

01-03-2008, 01:09 AM
Where is Suz? :mag:Choose a day girl. Lets get this party started!:woohoo:

I start Chemo in the morning it will be my first treatment :dz: I am excited to have a challenge of exercising because they tell me I will get tired. :faint: Don't anyone allow me to use it as an excuse!! :kickbutt:I've always been sorry at exercising it won't have anything to do with Chemo!:joker:

As soon as Suz decides on a day I will make the new post.:smug:

Chat later

Danni Marie
01-03-2008, 08:15 AM
