Talking a story about a bridesmaides dress....

In January I had to try on my dress for my brothers wedding. I started losing weight in Oct. so I was already down some. When I ordered my dress (in Jan) I decided to order 2 sizes to small. The wedding isn't until Oct, so I knew I had time to lose 2 dress sizes. When the dresses came in March I tried it on and it fit, a little tight, but it fit. I tried it on a month ago and it was way to big!! I took it back yesterday to exchange it and I got a dress 2 sizes smaller!! It is a little snug in the hips for my taste, I don't like clothes to cling to me, but there is 3 months till the wedding. I started at a size 20, ordered a 16 and yesterday picked up a size 12!!! This dress has almost become a measuring stick for me! I may actually keep this one. Definately a NSV!! Thank you for letting me share. Jelly

I'm not sure I'm brave enough to buy a dress too small.

When I was in my sister's wedding I had lost a bunch of weight and had to get my dress brought in considerably.

For my brother's wedding last year I weighed considerably more, but bought a dress and still had it brought in a bit.

Now another wedding is on my horizon. My best friend has asked me to be the Maid of Honor in her wedding in Oct '08. So I have a year but she is already sending me dress ideas and stuff and thinking about having us order our dresses a while in advance. It freaks me out a bit because she is thin and the bridesmaids are very thin too. She is letting us pick our own dress so I should be able to find a style that looks better. However it is hard to pick at this point because really no dress looks good on me right now and I can't picture them looking good. How do I pick a dress now for a body I hope not to have next year? I can't even go off of the other girls for style because they have no curves and are stick skinny. Hmmm... guess I will just pick one. Then when I am considerably more in shape next year for the wedding I will get it tailored to a much smaller size.

Congratualations - that's a fabulous story. You should be so proud of yourself. I was just in my brothers wedding and sadly had to wear a dress that was much bigger than I wanted to. I did manage to lose a bit of weight to wear the dress was a little too big, but not in enough time to have it altered. However it is that wedding that got me motivated finally to lose this weight, I don't want to be like this anymore. Congrats on your story and you should post pictures of you in the dress. Such a great thing!

I think because I am not losing weight for the wedding, it did not make me nervous to order it smaller. I was in my other brothers wedding in Sept of 06 and that was the catylist that got me praying about how to lose weight. My dress was a size 24 in that wedding. When he got the pictures back I literly did not recognize myself. I had to look at the picture again to find myself. It was terrible. We were about to bring our 4th child home at that time and I knew I was never going to keep up if I didn't take this weight off. Thank goodness pictures are so much more honest than we are! Jelly

Congratulations. You know, bridesmaids dresses are notorious for running small so you might want to check out a regular dress and see what that is.

That store is going to be afraid to see you walk in the door.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this story.

Wow, how proud you must be! It takes real GUTS to do what you did. I have thought about ordering clothes in a size smaller but not clothes I HAVE to wear. I am in awe of you! I concur that I want pics of you in the size 24 Bridesmaid dress and in the new dress. I am super proud of you woman!
