Default Symlin?

Has anyone here gone on symlin or considered it? If you're not familiar with what that is, it's a synthetic version of a hormone called amylin, which diabetics apparently don't produce. I've heard that going on symlin makes you less hungry and gives you a better sense of natural portion control (which I quite badly need since I get hungry so frequently unless I eat copious amounts of calories).

If you have, share your experiences. I'm highly considering it... if it's not heinously expensive.

I've never hear of it. Is it for both Type I and II?

I'm not sure... I think it may be similar to byetta, though.

http://www.symlin.com/

Have you tried their website? It says its for both type 1 and type 2 patients right up front. I went a bit further into it (FDA, am bored ) and apparently its only prescribed to patients who's blood sugars are still too high after insulin injections around meals. *shrugs*

FDA

I dont think its recommended as an appetite suppressant. One of the possible side effects is a decreased appetite, but I really wouldnt want to have to take another shot with every meal! lol I'd rather go for the pill forms of appetite suppressants That may just be me though. Symlin only comes in an injectable form.
