Anyone losing a large amount of weight any way is at risk for extra skin, but the biggest contributors seem to be.
1. Losing it quickly - Slower weight loss seems to result in less loose skin (but doesn't eliminate the possibility) or so I've been told
2. Genetics - some people are lucky and have very elastic skin,
3. Age - the younger you are the more elastic your skin. After menopause, for women, skin loses much of it's elasticity (whether you are losing weight or not).
What is supposed to help is eating a balanced diet (not too restrictive of one food group), taking a multivitamin, staying well hydrated (the 8 - 10 glasses of water, usually recommended), using a body lotion (I've heard some people recommend the lotions used during pregnancy to prevent stretch marks, others say any lotion will do, and losing weight slowly.
I don't know if all (or any) of these truly help, but since they're not bad advice, or expensive to follow, they couldn't hurt.
