Good morning and here's some coffee! :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:
I survived the BBQ yesterday without any noticeable damage. :) There was every kind of carb imagineable but it was buffet style with a veggie tray so I managed. I didn't take my dogs as they had a big Bouvier who spent most of his time with his head on my lap!
And so it's Monday and we're off on another week's adventure. :carrot: What's happening around your beach towel? :cofdate: Come and chat.

Morning Ruth, thanks for starting us up...Congrats on eating well at the BBQ. The dog must have sensed you were a doggie girl. Have a good day. I am drinking a big cup of tea hoping it will jump start me, I am so tired, which I am sure had to do with the drinks that I had yesterday. I can't seem to clear the fog from my head. Not much going on around my towel today. Other than DD has her driving exam she is a nervous wreak. She could possibly be driving all by herself today. Well must dash and try to wake myself up, god I even had a shower and that didn't help. Be back later I am sure.

Ruth great going on the BBQ
little chick you seem awfully calm for someone who might have a teen driver today!

My new site is taking off well but is taking a lot of my time. weight was 230.6 so it looks like 230 is here to stay. oh and anyone have a good crockpot recipe for venison roast?

:coffee2: Good morning fellow Chickies!
I'm glad you had a nice time at the BBQ yesterday, Ruth, and managed to stay OP to boot! Cute about that bouvier, he must have sensed that you are a dog lover. :) BTW, I'm off all week, come on down and let's go to the beach!
L.C., that big cup of tea was for you, did it chase the groggies away? :D I hate that foggy feeling in the morning, it seems forever to clear out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your DD, that she passes her test. :crossed: It's scary, though, to know they are out there on those roads by themselves. Caitlyn will be taking driving lessons when school starts again in Sept., and I'm going to be a nervous wreck knowing she's out there with all those maniacs on the road. We have to let them grow up and leave the nest sometime, though, don't we?
I was up early, and started paying bills and balancing the checkbook. Not a great way to start the day, but I feel good knowing all that's out of the way, and just how much I can spend this week. ;) I have to run back to Home Depot to return a gallon of paint that we didn't need, and maybe go shopping. I Googled that coffee Toddy thing and decided I'd like one, so I'm going to comparison shop around, and while I'm at it I want to get a new Foreman grill, too. The teflon is starting to peel on my old one, plus I want to get the one that has the removeable grill plates to make it easier to clean. I'm in the shopping mood today, so it might be dangerous out there!

Hi all. Thank goodness it's about bedtime here because I have been a hormonal mess today. I almost cried in Korean class because I didn't understand what the teacher was explaining, the kids have been getting under my skin all day today, Tom came home early from saving the world so I didn't get in my full run (although I did get to run for a half hour), I have seen NO progress from keeping my calorie count at 1500 (even though I know since I just started my period I probably won't), and I'm as grumpy as a monkey with no one to throw poo at. I really need to lock myself in a dark room for the next couple days because no one deserves to deal with me. I'm a wreck!
Ruth, I'm super glad you had a nice time at your barbeque and that you stayed on plan. Veggie trays are my favorite barbeque treat because no one ever sneaks meat onto the veggie tray! You never can tell what's in a deviled egg or salad, but the veggie tray is always my friend! There was one at Tom's squadron's Fourth of July picnic and I kept getting "that's a healthy plate" comments!
LC, hope your daughter passes her driving exam! When I went to take mine, they wouldn't let me do the test in my parents' van because there was no emergency brake in the middle of the two front seats. We had to drive quickly to my grandfather's house and borrow his car, which I had never driven, let alone parallel parked, so I could take the test in that. Luckily, I passed. I think my sanity will go down the toilet when my kids start driving!
Nessa, I'm so excited about your weight staying at 230! Way to go!
Avery just woke up so I must go. Anyone have any good PMS remedies? I have been quite proud of myself for staying away from the goodies, although I did sprinkle a tablespoon of mini chocolate chips on my strawberries tonight. For 70 calories and 4 grams of fat, it was so worth it. Not an every day treat.
Off to soothe the babe.

i was thinking of the KC masterpiece low carb bbq sauce some onions carrots and cook it long and slow...
venison is so lean it needs to be very slowly cooked and with ground we mix it with hamburger....
this will be my first roast.

Tom made a venison roast in the crockpot last year after a friend went hunting and gave him some meat. He did it with the onions and carrots I do believe. He was not impressed with the cut of meat, but it cooked nicely in the crockpot.

Good morning ladies. It was a terrible weekend off plan. Afternoon tea was all bad carbs starting with mimosas. I did do better at dinner. I convinced my friend to do make your own salads and pizza (WW crust)and it was perfect. I made a few desserts I found ont he recipe boards that satisified everyone. I really don't feel too guilty for enoying a scone or 2.....
Yesterday we were back OP and ate all the meals and snacks we were supposed, though didn't drink as much water as I should. Even ran some laps in the pool also.
2 more days until vacation and I can't wait. I love New England in the summer time, especially the coastline.
I wish I had time to say a personal hello to everyone, but I am running late and must run. I hope everyone had a great day on the beach and I hope to check in later.

Kara- Heres a big hug for you. Everyone so many months I get the same way a huge emotional wreak. Take care hon.
My scales are not budging either and it is depressing me, I have been doing so good, I didn't even have any dessert or potatoe salad yesterday, just my steak and veggies. Not sure why my scales are stuck. GRR.

Good Morning chicks,
Well, my Monday morning telecon has just been cancelled and that is a good way to start the week! Unfortunately, I have to get in that damn car and drive to Quantico for a meeting later this morning. I have had to commute at least 60 miles each way 5 of the last 6 days and my back is not happy about it. That's why I became a telecommuter! I'm really looking forward to not having to go in the rest of the week. And my SIL and niece who get the angel prize this week volunteered to take my husband's niece to DC again one day this week to see the monuments, which we never got to this past weekend. So one day I won't have to drive, and won't have to worry about entertaining. So it should be a good week! Also, I bought some sf caramel syrup at the store yesterday, so I plan to try that ricotta dessert recipe - caramel and peanut butter, yum, and play around with iced coffees. I will be very energetic! Tonight we're invited to go visit my friend and her kids and hang out at her pool. A low key night will be nice. And she said something about margaritas. I think I'll make tacos for the kids and taco salad for me! Next week - vacation!
Good morning Ruth, and thanks for the coffee. Want a shot of my syrup?
Nessa, I know nothing about cooking venison, but I'll offer some advice anyway. My mom used to do venison steaks on occasion and she would soak them in milk. I'm not sure but I think it was supposed to get rid of the gamey taste. Maybe it would work for a roast... Good luck!
Kara, I'm sorry you're in a funk. It does sound hormonal, but therefore it will pass quickly. Just whine in our direction and spare the family.
Oh, cottage, I love when I'm in those shopping moods and have things I know I need and some money to spend. I haven't had fun like that in a while. Please report in on your toddy. I'm going to google it, I have never heard of them.
Littlechick, for me the driving thing was the most stressful thing about the teen years. I knew DD would not be a good driver, so I didn't let her get her license until 17 1/2. And I was correct because there were several fender benders after that. She is pretty good now though, thank goodness. I hated those nights when she first started driving and I was waiting for her to get home. So glad they have a curfew for new drivers here.

Sheila, your weekend sounds lovely! I hope your toe did well in the pool this week!
Thanks for the hug, LC!
Schmoodle, I hope your commute goes quickly. Driving was one of the few things I did not enjoy when we lived in the DC area. We found a lot of back ways to places, but there were still so many jams and back-ups. Have you tried putting a small pillow behind your lower back? That's what Tom does and it really helps him. Me, I'm too short, and it makes me stick my chest out (can't use the lumbar supports on the seats either - must have a short torso!).
I'm going to go page through my new book and see what's going on with Dirk Pitt. Last chapter I left off, an iceberg was about to fall on his dad! See, things could be worse. I'm whining about grumpies and he's trying to fight off international terrorists aboard a hijacked cruise ship with two heads of states. (Only his world is fictional!)

Did a lot of cooking yesterday since we went to the store. It was a nice day for it. Made soup, rolls, and a banana bread. Didn't get quite as many veggies as I should have though. That's alright. I'll make up for it today.

I have got to get to the store so a)I can make the oatmeal bars and b) I can get some friendly foods! Our fridge is pretty bare except stuff to make dinner tonight and Wednesday nights. But I have spent so much money at the vet the last few weeks we may have to live off what's in the pantry for awhile. Bring on the vegetarian meals, Kara!
I am kind of a trainwreck lately. The tumor on Chester's eye is cancerous. So he has ANOTHER surgery today, they are bringing the third eyelid back down and then giving him some kind of injection into the tumor. They aren't going to take it off, which I don't know about, but I am certainly not a vet. I just hope we will have a little more time with him. They say the medicine can control it, I am just worrying about it spreading, especially to his brain.
I will never forget the day I got my driver's license! My mom never would drive with me, even when I was learning, it was always my dad and he had that habit of trying to press the "brake" on the passenger side of the car!! Anyway, when I got my license I went and picked up my friend who lived about 2 miles away, and then we went to an ice cream place about 1/2 a mile from her house. I know my mom paced the house the whole time we were gone, she about had hysterics. But then she remembered I could drive my little sister around instead of her having to do it!!!
Guess I need to get some work done today. Have a nice, OP day everyone (and night, Kara).

Morning Ladies!
A new week becons! Time to hit the flooring running!!! yehaaaa....
(Can you tell I'm on my third cup of coffee+chickory?)
The weather is horrid here...stormed all day long yesterday and today looks about the same. My work schedule looks light today (keeping fingers crossed) My husband goes in to work from 3-midnight and oldest son is coming to visit/eat and pick up his stash of frozen food later on...so I need to hit the gym and grocery store. I save all leftovers for him with a seal-a-meal and freeze them so he doesn't starve to death (he's at LSU) It's a great way to make sure I see him too...I hold the food as ransom!
Oh, and Kara, I found a great way to get rid of PMS...it's called "Hysterectomy"...worked great for me after going through menopause TWICE!

Morning all!
Ruth, yeah on avoiding BBQ! I usually attract dogs too, but I think it's because they know they'll get a treat out of me because I'm a huge sucker.
LC, I was actually so nervous after I got my license, I didn't use it for weeks and weeks...Could you impose a "no driving after dark" rule for a while, just so you're certain she's comfortable with driving?
Cottage...ooohhh...a Foreman grill with removeable plates? Maybe I'll go shopping today too!
Nessa, too bad my stepmother isn't on this board. She makes venison at least once a week (I'm originally from the backwoods of Tennessee. Insert your own redneck joke here.)
Weezle, thanks for the nicotine patch advice. I'm getting my "gear" ready for Wednesday!
Shequila, enjoy your upcoming vacation!
Jesse, I'm so sorry about Chester. Keep us updated about his surgery today.
Femme, I don't know how long you've had your new pic up (I've been a little out of the loop this weekend), but it's gorgeous!
Me, so my move is done, but the sorting out has yet to begin! On Friday, my U-Haul broke down not once, but twice! My boyfriend Tom (yep Kara, I also think it's funny that "Tom" gets mentioned so much on this site) was driving, and the first time it broke down we were blocking a lane of a DUI checkpoint. SOO embarrassing...particularly when a local news crew came out and started filming everything. Apparently I was on TV later that night (in the background) standing in front of the U-Haul with my face in my hands. Two hours later, a mechanic came out, got it fixed, drove off. We got two blocks and it quit again. This time it took them three 1/2 hours to get a tow truck out. So yeah, I spent 5 1/2 hours in a broken U-Haul in the heat of July in not the safest neighborhood. At one point I ventured out and ordered a pizza (the only food around) to go and brought it back to the truck. Tom and I actually had a pretty good time having an impromptu picnic.

Cat, I love your picture in your avatar! You're beautiful! I laughed out loud (yes, I know there's an abbreviation for that but I tend to write things out, even the state names on addresses!) when I read your comment about a hysterectomy. At least I know there's relief somewhere in the future! Menopause twice, huh? That had to be fun!

Jessie, I did get your message and I thought I posted back...:( It isn't the first message of mine that's been "lost" on here.
I did live in the Fan, but I've moved over to Westover Hills (just across the Nickle Bridge). I'll miss not knowing when it's 2 am every night thanks to all the bars (I lived at the start of the Robinson street bar crawl).
What's so funny is that I was born and raised in Tennessee, an hour and a half east of Nashville on I-40 in a place called Crossville. So it's almost like we've done a switcheroo! Do you live near the Vandy campus?
JessieW

I definitely know where Crossville is. I thought it was funny when you posted today about being from TN! We live south of town between Antioch and Brentwood (where we can afford more than 300 square feet!).

That was dinner tonight. Was that bad? I could of done worse...Not going to do the "chips" again anytime soon...those were hard to stop eating. LC, I can't decide whether that's good or bad that your DD passed her driver's test. I don't envy you your nerves, I went through it twice with my kids. As far as driving at night, does she have her own car, or is it yours? If it's yours, I'd remind her of that, and that YOU get to make the rules. We always made our kids pay for their portion of car insurance, too, and that made them much more conscientious drivers. They realised just how expensive it was, and how much more it would cost if they had an accident or points against them.
I had a great shopping trip, and found a great sale on the Foreman grills at Kohl's. With a $10 rebate, it only cost $29! I got 2 tops, a new bra, and a nightgown, too. But I didn't find any black capris that I liked, so I'll keep looking. Now I'm going to change into my swimsuit, pour myself a big glass of iced tea, and lounge in my poolchair the rest of the day. You're all invited, too, but bring your own towels, the cabana boys only cater to me!
