Hello everyone! How are you all doing?
We are back from our trip to Ohio, and it was a blast!!! The kids enjoyed if and so did me and Tommy! We took so many pictures and if all goes well then we are going to go back down there this coming weekend as long as Tommy’s schedule allows us to. If he doesn’t have to work then who knows when we will go down there, probably Friday night again. If he does have to work then we are going to go down after he gets off of work.
I thought I would hop on the scale to see how things went this weekend, expecting to see a gain. And to my surprise there was another loss! This time it was a loss of about 9 pounds. I was shocked, but I had to do a triple take when I jumped on the scale!
Marissa still has her cold. Her cough has gotten worse instead of better, but once I give her a breathing treatment it cuts it down dramatically. So, I will be doing round the clock treatments on her for the next couple days. Right now, she is sleeping soundly, so I am hoping that this is getting better for her sake. Her cough is so rough that she keeps trying to get it all the way out and then ends up sounding like she is choking because she is trying to get it all out.
Cristina~ I have it written on the dry erase board on our fridge. So, whenever I happen to go into the fridge for whatever reason, it is right in my face!
Sue~ While we were in Ohio, we went to the next city over and they had a city wide garage sale. We picked up some really cute things and ended up having a lot of time doing it!
Pink Jane~ I see that you are 8 pounds away from your goal, so keep up the great work and you are motivating me to keep on the track I am on! I can’t wait to see pictures from your WDW trip!
Dee~ Good luck with your homework! Sounds like your home gym is coming together nicely!!

Good morning. It is beautiful here again today. I am just hoping we don't have to turn the A/C on. Love the windows open and the breeze. I think I am probably dreaming though as it is supposed to get HOT.
I rode 3 miles this a.m. and have only had coffee so far. I just don't like an early breakfast.
Ironing is my main goal for today. We brought all of our extra clothes from Vegas and I have to get those ironed up. Closets will be full for sure. I told Mom I won't get to buy any new things forever unless I lose lots of weight. (we kept shirts and blouses out there so we wouldn't have to pack much. Also kept p.j.s and undie stuff, so have lots now.) It's a good and BAD thing. LOL
I got lots done yesterday as far as decorating and hanging pictures. It is looking good. DH is building my arbor for the side of the house. Things are moving along.
Have a nice day everyone and I will do individuals tonight.
07-16-2007, 01:22 PM
MINDEE...glad you guys had a nice weekend in Ohio! And WTG on the 9 pounds! :woohoo: :bravo: Hope Marissa gets to feeling better soon, poor baby. I hate to see the little ones not feeling well.
SUE...a woman can never have too many clothes, lol. Glad you are getting things done and still biking!
Hi to everyone else
Hope everyone has a good day!
07-16-2007, 05:02 PM
hello ladies.....nothing new on this end. called the pediatrician's office and they are going to fit her in tonight as long as we can get there before 6pm. so, hopefully we can get her in there before the doctor leaves, but I have a feeling that they are going to wait to see her, at least I hope they are going to. If not, then I will have to call them and make an appointment for Wednesday night.
Cristina~ Thanks for the congrats on the weight loss. I am hoping to keep it up now that I am a hundred pounds away from my goal!

Good Afternoon Ladies:wave:
Just got off the treadmill, did 2 hours on it today and I'm hoping to do 2 hours everyday but I'll see how the old bod feels tomorrow LOL...beautiful day today 90 right now but I am inside freezing in the AC LOL...Hubby is in downtown Boston delivering then on to New Jersey tonite and then to Atlanta, he wasn't real happy about having to go through rush hour in Boston...well I need to get around the boy gets off at 6 and I have to pick him up...gonna have a turkey cutlet for dinner tonite then see what's on the tube...Have a Good Evening All.
Mindee - that 175 is really a mini goal at the time I picked that it would have put me under my Hubby's weight for the first time but the turkey has gone down too 172 LOL so needless to say I will be changing that goal once I hit 175.
Your next WDW vacation is 55 days away!
07-16-2007, 08:14 PM
Once again, a quick one from me. I am worn out! Too many things to do, and too little time to do them all. :dizzy: Please forgive me, and I'll try to be back to do indy's tomorrow.
07-16-2007, 10:51 PM
I rode 6 miles today and after eating pizza....(I know, bad) I ate salad and melon for dinner. I weighed in and was still at the dreaded 170. I can't seem to shake that number. Even though I lost the 11 pounds I had gained the last year I am STUCK back at 170. UGH!
Got the ironing done, boring I know!
Nothing on the agenda for tomorrow so I will just finish up the housework and then chill.
I must scoot on the individuals...sorry, but have to go to jcp site and shop...
07-16-2007, 11:48 PM
hello ladies! well, we managed to make it to the doctor's office in time, and they were running late! so I spent an hour in the doctor's office with Marissa while Tommy took the boys to the Chevy dealership to order the handle for the van and looked at some cars, then came back. She basically has her cold still, but now I have to give her a breathing treatment three times a day for ten days, then drop it down to two times a day. If she isn't better between ten and fifteen days, then i have to call him and let him know.
Pink Jane~ I would love to weigh less then Tommy, which I will when I make my goal!!! I am so excited to be doing this great, that I can't wait to jump on the scale next week!
07-17-2007, 01:18 AM
I'm getting ready to walk. A bit later than usual, but the same time as I used to walk. I had to go in early to work today due to a gal calling in. Got some OT. Can not wait until next month when it's my vacation time.
Mindee--Great job on the 9lbs lost!! Fantastic. Keep up the good work and before you know it, you'll be at goal! Hope little Marissa gets better soon.
Sue--I'm slowly getting myself to eat a bigger breakfast....I'm not much of a breakfast eater but I find that I do much better in the evening (over indulging) when I do eat breakfast. Now....if I can just get in a bike ride before work.................
Cristi--Didn't get permission first??? OMG!! That's just wrong. I can't believe some of the things that go on in this world. Really opens your eyes. I didn't even know you had to have permission for such things. What kind of job did she have???
PJ--You should feel so proud of yourself. Your journey to getting healthy......you're doing so great!! Just wanted to let you know that you're inspiring me to keep at it on the old treadmill!!
Dee--Well you know.....grandma and grandpa's place was always better than staying at home. :D So what kind of equipment are you getting/have for your gym?
Jane--Hope all the busy days you're having is filled w/lots of fun and no work. Does your town have the fair coming soon? Ours is next month. Looking forward to that. It happens to be during our vacation week too....didn't realize that when we asked for the time off.
Hello to everyone else out there.
Ok....I need to get on the treadmill before it's way too late.
Have a good night everyone.
07-17-2007, 01:50 AM
Marti~ Thanks for the nice words and encouragement! I had to do a double take when I saw the time of your post and that you were going walking....then I remembered that you are three or four hours behind me! LOL
07-17-2007, 02:59 PM
Happy rainy day everyone...We sure needed this rain and it is a slow gentle one. I managed to ride 3 miles between showers, just got a little damp. I hope it stops long enough for me to get 3 more tonight. I did get my vcr hooked up so I can do WATP in my bedroom...that will help if it keeps raining.
Mindee- Sorry to hear the baby is still feeling bad. I hope the breathing treatments help her a bunch. Great job on the loss by the way!
Marti- I think a bigger breakfast would help, but I hate to eat too early. Then what do you do when your DH goes out for doughnuts even before you wake up in the morning? He couldn't sleep so went and brought back goodies. *no will power*
Jane- You will have to pop in long enough to tell us what you are doing. Hope it is fun at least.
Dee- Hope you got your DD home and back in the family routine. I envy you the groups you belong to. I am on my own here for exercise. I guess I need to join the Y or Curves.
Cristina- Hope the sod arrived...or is it still too wet there? You guys will have the pergola done in no time. DH has my arbor almost finished today. Just need to call the power co. to make sure where the wires are so we can dig the postholes. I think we are going to do a pergola also. Yay!
Pink Jane- WOW 2 hours on the treadmill and I am complaining about my little bike rides. Geesh, lady you are amazing. No wonder you have been able to lose weight. I keep making excuses, but really I have NONE that are viable...just lazy and lack of willpower. (like that darn pastry this morning...I knew better)
Got the floors swept and dusting done. I hung another picture and got rid of another box. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Making a pork roast for dinner with cabbage. For lunch I had fresh fruit and melon. Now I am so drowsy...think I will actually take a nap. (I never can sleep during the day, so we will see!)
See you later.....hi to Tina, Tammy, Sassy, MaryKate, and all the rest of you gals....come on and say "hi."
07-17-2007, 03:44 PM
Sue~ Thanks for the nice words of encouragement! Marissa is feeling better today. She is sleeping right now, so when she gets up I am going to give her another breathing treatment.
how are the rest of the ladies doing on this fine, but rainy, Tuesday?
07-17-2007, 09:19 PM
Got in a 4 mile ride tonight for 7 miles today. I did good for dinner. Small piece of pork, cabbage and carrots. Melon for dessert. I didn't eat bread today and no potatoes for dinner...thanks to making up for the pastry. :)
Jane we got some good ole' Indiana muskmelon.
07-17-2007, 10:46 PM
Good Evening Ladies:wave:
Well the old bones complained abit but I got in another 2 hours on the treadmill today...also been doing Turbo Sculpt every morning and Hip Hop Abs in the afternoon...I noticed something unusual when I got out of the shower, I have collar bones LOL I forgot what they looked like...talked to Hubby alittle while ago and he is on his way from New Jersey to Atlanta has to deliver tomorrow at 7 pm...was another hot one here today hit 91 but the heat index was 98 and you sure could feel that humidity, but I'm not complaining LOL...I put a chicken breast with some Mrs Dash marinade in the oven and it's smelling really yummy...well Have a Good Evening All, me and my aching bones are gonna go finish making my dinner LOL.
Marti - Thank You and I honestly can't imagine being an inspiration for anyone, coming here and reading what everyone else does motivates me to keep moving, we really do end up helping each other along.
Sue - Glad you got some much needed rain, we had storms all around us last nite but nothing here, we could use some rain too, Glad you got your bike ride in too.
LOL I started this post 2 hours ago, had to go pick the boy up and now finally getting back here to finish this up.
Your next WDW vacation is 54 days away!
07-18-2007, 12:03 AM
Sue - I did some shopping with JCP myself, using my free shipping on some 340 thread count Egyptian sheets that was marked down 40% already, and on a 2nd order, used the 40% code on some sweaters and shoes for winter. I just love a bargain! Glad you're enjoying the melons. I've got them literally right out my back door.
Mindee - a big woohoo for you losing the 9 pounds. :cp: Keep up the good work. Hope Marissa is better by now.
Marti - the fair here starts next Monday, the 23rd. Gina entered Jackson in the baby contest so we'll for sure be going to that. My niece Dani has an exhibit in the 4-H building, in photography, so I want to be sure and check that out while I'm there. Hopefully I can stay away from the funnel cakes, lol.
PJ - have you ever used fat free or low fat Italian dressing to cook your chicken or turkey breast? It is sooooo good, and helps keep the meat moist, too. Just a thought.
Cristina - hope you're having a good week.
A big hello to anyone else reading this.
I've been busy the last few days. We're adding some shelving units to the craft room for the DGKs to keep their books, puzzles, and coloring supplies, etc. I've also been doing some crafts with 8 y/o Mackenzie Jo, especially bookmarks. She made identical ones for herself and her BFF, lol. Seems like I've had lots of company, which is always fun. I tell family and friends that if they want any tomatoes, corn, cabbage, green beans, peppers, etc, to just come on out, so that's why I'm getting more company, lol. Also, I've been working with blackberries, making juice for jelly. We have a bumper crop this year.
I've been OP, drinking my water, taking my vitamins, and using the elliptical. I'm not progressing as fast as I thought I would on the elliptical, but at least I'm still doing it. All of the fresh vegetables and fruits is making this easier. Summer parties, weddings, etc. are a challenge.
Well, ladies, I hope you're week is going well. Toodles for now.
07-18-2007, 12:35 AM
just a quick fly by post for me.
we were suppose to be going to my GMIL's birthday party on August 25th, but now we are not. They are still having the party, but we just aren't going. She doesn't want any of the great-grandchildren to come. So, Tommy said to his mom that if his kids aren't invited then he isn't going. It all started out as a surprise party for her, but then she got clued in on every thing, and now she doesn't want the great grandchildren to come. Tommy's mom and dad went to a meeting with her brother and sister about it, and all heck broke loose. Tommy's dad (mind you, he is not in the best of health....they think he has bladder cancer on top of having possible prostate cancer) got into it by telling them that if his grandkids are not invited then he might not show up as well. Which means that if we don't go, then he won't go.
Marissa is doing much better. I gave her a breathing treatment today and she has done great since then, so I haven't given her any more. But if she gets congested again, then she will be getting one.
Jane~ Thanks for the nice words of encouragement!
Sue~ great job on the riding!!
Pink Jane~ I can't wait to see pictures from your trip!
07-18-2007, 02:44 PM
SUE...WTG on the 7 miles! That is GREAT! WE got sod! YIPPEE! Our yard is done! Okay, the sod is, lol. WE have some trees to plant in the fall. Woohoo, a pergola! I love those things! You guys will too!
MINDEE...sorry about GMIL's party...I can kind of understand not having the kids there. Maybe she thought it would be too much for her to handle...I wouldn't hold it against her. Hope little Marissa gets to feeling better soon.
MARTI...yeah, that was crazy. But I know with our insurance if we have to see any type of specialist we have to get a referral first, or they can deny us. Seems like we pay out the arse for insurance and we have to get permission to get/have certain things done, doesn't seem right. The insurance companies have all kinds of ways to get around paying for things.
PINKJANE...wow, I am impressed! You are tiring me out just reading all you do and 2 hours on the treadmill, yikes! I think it would kill me, lol. You'll be at goal in no time at all though.
JANE...must have been shop at JCP day, lol. I bought some walking/exercise shorts for me and DD yesterday. It has been too hot for capri's or pants even at 7:30 in the morning.
HI to everyone else
It is hot here and I just spent almost 3 hours at the pool! Yikes! Hope I didn't burn...don't think I did. Me and daughter spend an hour floating on our stomach and then get out and lay an hour on our back to get an even tan, lol. We ended up staying an extra hour (don't usually stay more than 2 hours, one hour on each side) chatting with a neighbor. Her little girl was sooo very cute with her little floaties and lifesaver. Anywho...
I weighed Monday and decided then that I was going to weigh everyday to see how my weight flucuates, why? I don't know. So Tuesday I was down 1 pound from Monday. Today, I am down 2 pounds from yesterday. Curious to see what I am at tomorrow. Not really counting any of this until Monday...hopefully it sticks. Funny how much it flucuates though and not really sure why I am doing this as I am only doing it for the week, until WI on Monday.
Went for my walk again at the park. Went a little earlier this morning since I knew it was going to be hotter today. I love that park because I can get in a good walk with walking all the ins and outs and just going around the park once...it's 3 miles! Did that yesterday as well and 2 on Monday. Feeling really good too!
That's about all I have for now. Have a good day ladies!
07-18-2007, 03:32 PM
Hi ladies- It's so nice to hear everyone sounding so perky and happy. Must be the nice summer weather. :)
I got in a 4 mile ride this morning and I must admit I feel good after I ride. Well, it takes a few minutes for my legs to quit feeling like noodles, but then I feel good.
Mom and I went to Wally World for some peach tea and coffee. Did not stop and look at ANY clothes. Then we went to my BFF's house to see her lilies. Oh my goodness has she got a bunch and they are so pretty. I think she said she had 78 just around her deck. Now I have to get DH to till up a spot behind the house because she is giving me lots of ferns. I have decided that I want more daylilies too. Especially around one tree. DH has the arbor about ready to set but the guys who need to locate our utilities haven't come yet. I won't plant my clematis until Spring at the arbor.
Anyway, that's been my day...along with fighting an earache and sore throat. Ugh!
BBL to report my evening ride. Might get to individuals....
07-18-2007, 04:10 PM
hello ladies.....nothing new on this end....just relaxing some. Tommy got out of work early again today. So it is nice to have him home a couple hours earlier then usual. But, now it is rainy again, so looks like no walking for us!
Cristina~ Right now we are planning on not going. If we find out after the fact that the other great-grandkids were allowed to go, then we will be very mad. She has a tendancy to play favorites with them.
07-18-2007, 09:39 PM
Good Evening Ladies:wave:
Had a storm come up earlier and got a whole minute and a half of rain LOL, hopefully we'll get some overnight...Did another 2 hours on the treadmill today, at least my bones aren't aching today...Hubby called earlier he's in Atlanta, picks up his next load at 2:30 am and then on to Wash D.C. to deliver tomorrow at 6 pm, I told him there's no rest for the wicked LOL...the boy is off tomorrow and I have to take him down to Des Moines for an eye exam so that will probably put my schedule off again but nothing I can do about it...anyway I hope everyone has a Good Evening and I'll be back to check in tomorrow.
Jane - Yes I used to love to broil chicken legs in Fat Free Italian dressing, but I never think to buy it any more, I'll have to put it on my next grocery list.
Cristina - I'm jealous of you going to the pool, I hope you didn't get sunburnt.
Mindee - I take tons of pics LOL so I will have lots to share. You should see my living room it's total Disney.
Your next WDW vacation is 53 days away!
07-18-2007, 10:02 PM
Having a blast in Mrytle Beach. Perfect weather, no rain, today was a little too hot so we cut our beach day a little short. You should see my tan! We've been out till almost midnight every night so tonight stayed in the condo watching the ocean waves from the sliding glass door as people are setting off fireworks out over the ocean. Fireworks are legal in SC. Tomorrow the guys are playing golf and the gals are heading to Calabash, NC (only a 1/2 hr drive right over the NC/SC state line to go to meet the shrimp boats when they come in first thing in the morning and pick up about 5-6 lbs of shrimp to take home and steam. Calabash also has a huge gift shop to browse. Then we will go back to the condo, eat lunch and head to the beach for the rest of the day. Then on to the Sugar Shack at the House of Blues to listen to the live band and have a few drinks. Last night we went to Jimmy Buffets Margueritaville for dinner and they also had a live band there. Trying to eat sensibly but overdid it at a seafood buffet Monday night. Hopefully my long beach walks every day and night will make up for all I eat! Take care ladies, thinking of you as always!
07-18-2007, 10:44 PM
I rode another 3 miles tonight for a 7 mile total again today. Planning to try 8 miles by the first of next week and then 10 miles before the summer is over. *fingers crossed*
Did fair on eating today...back to no snacks after 8 unless it is a few walnuts. Also cut my bread intake..see if that helps. Lots of fresh fruit right now and I love that.
PJ- You are doing great and getting closer to WDW too.
Tammy- I envy you so much the beach walks. Have fun!!
Mindee- Nice to have the DH home a little extra I am sure. Hope you got your walk. We have storm warnings here, but so far nothing.
Cristina- Yay for the sod! Sounds like things are coming along nicely. Glad you are enjoying the pool. Is it a neighborhood pool? Are you in a gated community? Just wondered as they do usually have pools and other activity areas.
Jane- I didn't end up buying anything from jcp. Just browsed. I need to go to the store and look at the items for the house. Just can't be sure of the colors online or by catalog. Sounds like you are keeping busy.
07-18-2007, 11:18 PM
hello ladies.....we were not able to get any walking in tonight since it was raining on and off all night. plus, the kids were all asleep by 8:45pm! *knock on wood* they are all still asleep as well! the only one that will wake up again will be Marissa.
Sue~ Great job on your walking! I really miss my exercise bike that I had.....but now I have no idea where in the world I would put it! We have to figure out where we are going to put Marissa's crib in our room since she is getting too big for the bassinet.
Pink Jane~ I am a Pooh fan! I have a tattoo of Pooh Bear on my right leg.
Tammy~ It is great to hear from you! I hope you continue to have great weather while you are there!
07-19-2007, 09:26 AM
Good morning, ladies,
Mindee - I can't imagine that your kids (or any of the great-grandkids) wouldn't be invited to a family birthday party. I for sure wouldn't go if my kids were left out, and although I'm not one to hold a grudge, it would be hard for me to forget that. Come on down and visit me, instead. Your kids are welcome here.
Cristina - I weigh every day, just to see if I'm making any progress, but the flucuations can be discouraging. I only count the weight loss/gain on Saturdays. The older I get, the harder it is to lose! Wow, sounds like you had lots of fun at the pool. And a big yay for the sod! :cp: I know your home must be absolutely beautiful. Btw, I took a picture of the coneflowers that are by our shed, and will try to post the photo for you here.
Sue - if you do get daylillies, try to remember to divide them every 3 years. You wouldn't believe what a difference that makes! I've found JCP catalog colors to be very true to life. Before we moved into this house, I ordered lots and lots of new rugs, curtains, etc and was impressed by the accuracy.
PJ - I'm always looking for new ways to fix the old stand-bys. Neal is such a picky eater, though, that it makes it hard. He doesn't like green pepper or any types of squash, prefers no chucky tomatoes, doesn't like cooked brocolli or cauliflower, etc, and those are the basics of low-cal eating!
Tammy - girl, you're living the life of Riley! It all sounds wonderful, and I know you worked hard to enjoy such a nice vacation. Drink something with an umbrella in it for me, ok?
Jules - did you get a package from me? You should have gotten it by now....
Hello to Marti, Jodi, Vann, Mary Kate, Sassy and all the other JL's, and anyone else reading this.
Ah, peace and quiet today, lol. I had Caylin yesterday, and we went shopping - lots of fun with that. The a/c went out in my car, and I thought I would melt. Thankfully, Neal recharged it before I went to town last night for an initiation to the Eagles auxilary.
Today I've got to tacke Mt Washmore, and also organize the new shelves Neal put in the craft room. I'm going to put the DGK's puzzles, etc on most of them.
Hope you're having a good day!
07-19-2007, 11:56 AM
Good Morning Ladies--
Just a quick one this morning, I still need to hop in the shower and primp up for the day! :D
I got in my walk this morning. Yesterday I did an ab workout and a buns workout.......... feeling it today!!:dizzy:
I believe that when I moved (way back in April) I lost my desire of staying in control and getting healthy. Well I'm trying to get back that drive I had before the move. Get all amped up and excited to stay fit. Have to say it's pretty darn hard. But I'm trying.
I would like to see myself lose 5lbs by my vacation. (3rd week of August) Start small.....if I lose more --bonus, if I don't lose, then I need to work harder.
Ok...shower is definitely calling my name so I need to scoot. I will do indi's the next time around.
Have a fabulous day!
07-19-2007, 02:57 PM
PINKJANE...you made me think of this lady on My First House on HGTV. She was looking to buy her first home and decorate it with all her Disney/Mickey Mouse stuff. It showed her at the end and how she decorated it...OMG! That woman must have been collecting for years! She had every room except one decorated, from borders, to the shower curtain, clocks...it was amazing. But kind of like walking in a Mickey Mouse museum. WTG on your walking, geez, I still can't even imagine doing 2 hours on the treadmill...keep up the good work! :carrot:
SUE...it is a community, rather our little subdivisions pool but we don't live in a gated community. There's a little park as well next to it. It is actually a small pool, considering the number of houses here but at the same time big enough. Just saying that because the last subdivision had two pools and there was about as many houses. Bet the lilies are so pretty! I went and found a butterfly bush for the back yard Monday. Wanted something to hide this electrical box that we have the honor of having in our backyard, lol. It will be something nice to look at and smells nice too! And...WTG on your biking, awesome job! :carrot:
MARTI...I have faith you will make your goal. You've done so well in the past. So are you guys headed to San Fran for your vacation this year, or did you guys already go for your anniversary? Awww, can't remember.
JANE...I'll have to remember your tip about the lilies. I planted a border of them in the front and then some around the tree in the back and I didn't know they needed to be divided. Can't wait to see the coneflowers. I searched high & low and couldn't find any...but then it was kind of late for planting I guess. And same here...the older I get the harder it is to lose weight. Neal sounds like V and the kids with the eating...no one here likes the veggies I like, V likes some though.
MINDEE... How is Marissa doing today? Hope she is better.
TAMMY...I am so jealous! Sounds like you guys are having the best time...wishing I was there with you!
SASSY...hoping all is well with you, miss ya girly!
Howdy everyone else
Not sure if I mentioned or not but the soldier that was killed (went to the funeral), I had V ask his brother (V works with him) for his parents address so that I could have a gold star banner sent to their house. We have a blue star banner in the window and if something happens to the soldier it is a gold star...here is the link if you want to check it out and the story behind the blue and gold star banners http://www.nrotc.org/page2.htm
Well, the guy in charge thought it would be a good idea if it was presented to the family in person and thought they would appreciate it more. He asked me if I would like to do this, me and V. I said yes, I would be honored. I received the banner today and now am a little nervous about presenting it to them for some reason. I think because I know I will probably cry.
Nothing much going on with me today. Actually slept in this morning then went to Wally World. They have been rearranging the store for weeks now and I am lost, lol! It looks claener and bigger for some reason but I am lost...don't know where most things are. Now need to make the bed and get the laundry done. Did get in two miles as well so feeling good about that. Heading to Lowes, Home Depot or a nursery when V gets home to get a tree and finish off the front yard...couldn't do the one side until they did the grass. Anyway...
Have a GREAT day ladies!
07-19-2007, 03:26 PM
Happy day to you all. I am being a little lazy for now. I did a 3 mile ride this morning and it was soooo humid. I am already dreading the evening ride.
Made breakfast and cleaned that up then did some housework, one load of laundry and (still) re-arranging a few shelves in the pantry and closet. I know I am magically going to make everything fit one day. haha
My nephew came by for a short while with his little girl and his fiance's little girl. Mom had a bench to give him and we had a few other things he could use. Hate throwing things away if someone can make use of them. My niece came by earlier in the week for a comforter set I had from Vegas. So...slowly weeding out some things.
I have eaten really OP so far today. We are going out to dinner and I planned my meal OP too. Now, if I don't get greedy when I see the menu!!! I am having grilled chicken and green beans (ala Jane) with a side salad or soup..depends on the soup today. I keep telling myself I know I can do this, but there are days the willpower is just kapoot. I KNOW what I need to do and I am equipped with the hints and tips from all you wonderful ladies. NO excuse to do what I do. *end of mini rant at myself*
Tune in later to see if I managed to be good and if I rode another 4 miles for my 7 today.....
07-19-2007, 04:40 PM
Nothing new here today.....it is raining again, so no walking after dinner. But hey, I have been doing great in every other aspect. Now, I just have to find something on ONDemand to work out too. They have some upbeat workouts, so I figure if I check out the dancing ones, then it won't feel like exercise to me and I will enjoy doing it even more!
Jane~ Thanks for the hug and the invitation! The funny part about the whole thing was that it was suppose to be a surprise party for her, and somehow she got clued in on all the details. She didn't like any of the ideas that were tossed around before, so now they are back to square one and not having a place to have it at. They were going to have it at a park so that the kids would have something to do while the party was going on. Then they scratched that and wanted to do it at a restaurant, and now they are back to not having ideas again.
Marti~ Good luck with your mini-goal before your vacation!
Cristina~ Marissa is doing good today. I gave her a double treatment this morning because she was really gunky sounding. Now, she is laughing at Logan getting his diaper changed. That would be a great honor to present that flag to the family.
Sue~ Great job on your ride! good luck at dinner!

I finally decided to officially join y'all. I have been lurking and just playing the words games so far. Today is my 4th day and I have done really well, have not cheated once. I am nervous though cause historically the 3rd or 4th day has been the danger zone for me. I told my family to keep an eagle eye on me, to not leave me alone for a second for the next couple of days.
I have not started exercising yet. I decided to get my eating under control first and then work in the exercise after a few days. I am a bit obsessive/compulsive, okay, alot "ocd", and I will make myself crazy if I don't ease into this a little.

Quick hi to Ronda..welcome aboard.
I rode 3 miles tonight before pooping out in the humidity. Now that I am inside and showered it has cooled way down and humidity has dropped. Go figure!
Dinner was a challenge since we went somewhere else. I just had a small steak, baked potato (small amount of butter only) and salad with ff ranch. Ate 3/4 of the meal. No bread, which is what I am trying most to cut down on. I could have still had chicken, but had it the past 3 days...so didn't. And the soup was chili, which was not as good for me as the salad...so, that is what I chose. I didn't eat any "junk" today or between meals, which is a big deal for me. LOL
Still struggling with a sore throat and earache...comes and goes. So I am going to bed wayyyy early for me.
See you all tomorrow.
07-19-2007, 11:22 PM
Ronda~ Hello and welcome to the board!!! I hope to get to know you better in the coming days/weeks!
Sue~ I hope you start to feel better soon! Yay for staying on plan with your eating! Now, that I finally convinced myself to get back on the wagon, I have to fully get back on the wagon! Great job on the riding!
07-20-2007, 07:40 AM
Good morning, ladies,
Marti - yay for you, deciding to recommit. It's hard, I know.
Cristina - oh, what an honor to present the gold banner to the soldier's family. You are the perfect one to do this, and if you cry, it only makes you more human. I feel certain the family will be in tears as well. Please be sure and let us know when this is, and how it went, ok?
Sue - some days my willpower is kaput, too, Sue. And here I have so many incentives to lose, but something in my brain just balks after too many days of being OP, even when I allow treats in my calorie limit. I'm just trying to do well more days than not. Hope your sore throat and earache are gone today.
Mindee - yikes, the GMIL sounds extremely hard to please! It would serve her right if she ended up with no party at all. Glad to know Marissa is better.
Ronda - welcome to our little corner of the world. I think you'll like it here. You're a smart gal to know where your danger zones are, and to do something positive like you have, to avoid a setback.
Hello to anyone else reading this. :)
I messed up with food and water both yesterday, but have my plan in place for today.
I've been up since 4:15 this morning, and will regret that later. But I woke up to potty and just couldn't get back to sleep. It's a cool 62 degrees outside, which feels like winter, after the heat and humidity we've had. I get to have Jackson and Mackenzie today, and intend to get lots of smooches stored up from them, lol.
What's on your agenda for the day?
07-20-2007, 11:46 AM
Good Morning Ladies
A big hello and welcome to both Ronda & Sonie.
Let's see if I can quickly do indi's this morning.
PJ--Wow....do you really spend 2hrs on the treadmill?? I get in my 30 mins and call it good. Maybe I need to commit to a much longer time on the treadmill??? You're doing fabulous, keep up the great work!
Mindee--I can't even begin to imagine my grandma not wanting her grandkids or great-grandkids at any of her parties. That is just the saddest thing! She'll be sad later on when no one wants to come over for any event. I hope she changes her mind.
Jane--Our fair starts in August. In fact it is going on during our vacation week so that's something fun to look forward to. We've had some cooler temps here also. In fact we have rain. It's always bizarre to have 80* weather and it's raining. I suppose a positive way to look at it is that it's not unbearable heat and it's not freezing rain. Actually perfect for walking in! Give that baby a kiss for me today ok!!
Cristina--Since we bought the house this year we weren't able to travel. So we aren't going to San Fran this year. :( But we are going ahead w/our plans to explore Oregon! :D We're planning on a day trip every day to a different location. To do some hiking, biking, and just have fun. I'm looking forward to going to Southern Oregon and exploring the lava caves. We did that before and had so much fun. I won't want to go back to work...........I'll be too sore!
Sue--We have 3 Clematis in our yard and they're just gorgeous. I wanted to get more for around our Gazebo so I bought one in May. I didn't bury it deep enough, and knew it after a few days....but the darn thing bloomed anyway! I was shocked. I have never seen such TINY little flowers on a Clematis plant before! Very cute, but I don't think it'll last until next blooming season.
Tammy--Good to see you and hear that you're having the time of your life! I'm jealous!! You'll have to tell us more when you get back home. You need to enjoy your vacation and not worry about us silly girls. Have fun!
Ronda--You sound like you have a very positive way of looking at everything. That's a GREAT way to be. I'm looking forward to getting to know you more.
Hello to everyone else out there!! I hope I haven't missed anyone.
I didn't get my walk in this morning, but will tonight. I have some cleaning to do and some laundry...all before work. That in itself is a workout!
It's Friday ladies...end of the week. Hope we all have a great weekend full of adventures!
07-20-2007, 01:49 PM
Hello ladies….how are you all on this fine Friday?
Nothing new on this end. Tommy will be out of work in about an hour, and then it will be time to do laundry. We are not sure if we are going to go down to Ohio tonight or just wait until tomorrow. I know one thing is for sure……we have to run to Wal-Mart before we even go anywhere!
I talked to Tommy about his grandma’s party. Apparently, they still haven’t come up with a place to have it yet, but they are looking into restaurants on the west side of the state. Not only that…..whoever does go, will have to pay for their own food. So, if it wasn’t for the location, we wouldn’t be able to go anyways since Tommy’s hours at work got cut this week. And we don’t know if they are going to go back up or not.
Jane~ Yeah, it seems like it is hard to please her. So, I think we are just going to send her flowers and call it a day. I hear ya on the early morning. Brandon was up and ready for the day at 3am! It took me until Tommy left for work, which is about 5:15am, before I got him to sit and cuddle with me enough to get him to fall asleep. Right now, he is in the kitchen playing with the alphabet magnets on the fridge.
Marti~ That is exactly what we are saying! If she is being picky now, no one is going to come over for anything else! We are already talking about not even going over to Tommy’s uncle’s house on Christmas Eve. We usually end up going over there on Christmas Eve and then to his other Aunt’s house on Christmas Day. This year we are changing it since all this bull crap has gone on. I told Tommy that if they keep it up, I won’t have any problems with going up to my parent’s house for Christmas. Tommy then said “I don’t have any problems with it either. ****, I wouldn’t care if we go up there for every holiday as far as I am concerned!”
Sonie~ Hello and welcome to the board!!
07-20-2007, 03:08 PM
:welcome: again RHONDA! Glad to see you made it over to the chitchat thread. WTG on not cheating for 4 days! :carrot:
JANE...I will let you know. V works with the soldiers brother and is going to find out a good time to go over to his parents house and get directions. I'm a little nervous but feel honored to give this to them. Enjoy your time today with the gk's.
SUE...hope you are feeling better today.
MARTI...that is cool! What's funny to me is how many people will go other places to vacation and never really look in their own backyards. Sounds like you and James are going to have a wonderful time!
MINDEE...glad to hear Marissa is better.
Hello to all the MIA ladies, hoping all is well with you in your little corner of the world...miss ya!
Nothing much going on in my little corner of the world. Went for my 3 mile walk at the park this morning and almost died! The thing at the dentist office said it was only 77 degrees but with the humidity, ick! Very sweaty, sticky walk. I have been trying to get to the park between 7 and 8 before it gets too bad but this morning I overslept so I was dragging. Didn't think I was going to make it, lol. I did and while I thought I was dragging, I actually beat my time by 3 minutes, what?! LOL
Have a good day ladies!
07-20-2007, 04:31 PM
Cristina~ That is great that you got your walk in!
07-20-2007, 10:31 PM
Hello ladies. I was going to take a day off today....no exercise. I ended up digging and planting about 25 ferns. This evening it turned so cool that I couldn't resist riding the bike for 3 miles. So, feeling pretty good about my day off. :)
Have any of you used a mini stepper? Mom and I went rummaging this morning and I bought a Weider unit, very heavy duty and solid. I only used it for a few minutes earlier and MAN did it work my legs. I don't know how much time I can put in on it as it is really hard to step...but it adjusts, so maybe I can figure it out. (no manual, of course) Hey, for $5.00 I can give it a try. I talked about buying one last year, but didn't.
Still have an earache and the meds. don't seem to be helping. Just makes me tired. I will try to catch up with everyone tomorrow.
07-21-2007, 12:45 AM
Sue~ I hope you can get rid of your earache soon! That is great about the stepper. My sister used to have the one that came with the Buns of Steel, I think, movie a long time ago. I used to use it all the time. It was adjustable as well.
07-21-2007, 07:12 AM
Hi ladies.. just finished reading the new harry potter.. whoo good book, but long. Sorry I haven't been around lately, hope you guys are all having a great week, and now weekend. I hurt my foot, and that kind of knocked me for a loop, along with some car and money troubles, so this weekend I'm working on getting back on track. Luckily nothing is broken in the foot, just a bad sprain/strain, but I need to wear a brace if I'm going to be on it much, etc.
Did get the little girl back, and man, I forgot how much she yaps. But I'm glad she's home, and hope we can get out snorkeling soon. (we have water warnings right now, yuck).
Have a great weekend all!
07-21-2007, 11:03 AM
Hello ladies, and a good Saturday morning to all!
Another 3 mile walk in for me. Geez, this weather is horrible. Before I head out each morning I always watch the local weather. They said although it is only 73 the humidity is awful and very sticky out...boy, they weren't kidding! Next week since it is supposed to be hotter (upper 90's all week) I am going to try and get tot he park when it opens at 7 a.m. and see if it's any better. I like walking at the park because I can't just stop in the middle of a walk...I have to walk back to my car, lol. So, I get my 3 miles. If I have to walk at home on the treadmill it bores me. I either have to break up the walk into two 1 1/2 mile walks or three, 1 mile walks...it's just too easy to quit if I get hot. Working on that though because I know it is going to be just too hot to walk outdoors. Going to ride my bike later and do some weights..need to work that into my week.
HI MINDEE...thanks! These walks have been killing me the last two days...not actually the walk but the humidity...I am so sweaty and wet when it's over, ugh! I guess that's a good thing tough, lol. How's our little baby girl today? And the boys of course?
SUE...sorry your ear is still bothering you. I've not tried a mini-stepper, sorry. Geez, louise! 25 ferns! That is a a workout in itself. WTG on the bike riding too! I know what you mean about the humidity, it has been horrible here.
HIYA DEE...I can't believe the frenzy over Harry Potter. DS works at a store and OMG! He said it was crazy last night! Sorry to hear about your foot, hope it gets better soon so you can get back to your walking.
Hello to everyone else
Glad I got my walk in early and now can concentrate on cleaning the house and getting my laundry done. Also, going to try and find me a cute little summer dress online for the wedding in Sept. Other than that not a lot going on today.
Hoping all is well with you in your little corner of the world today. Have a GREAT weekend chickies!
07-21-2007, 02:04 PM
Good morning ladies
I just got done walking, got my 2 miles in. I was really not wanting to walk this morning but I told myself I would feel better about it once I was done and sure enough.....I do!! :D
Been eating much better. I have this format I use to print out a food journal.....I'm trying to tweak it a little so I can fit 2 pages on one sheet of paper....for some reason it's not working, but I'm planning on starting my food journal back up starting Monday. Getting back into the right frame of mind here. Why I let it get out of control who knows????
Cristina--Our weather has been wet and warm. 80* with rain. During the week I don't mind because I'm in a building most of the day working, but the weekend.....we wanted to go kayaking this weekend, think we'll have to wait for another time.
Dee--Ouch! Sorry to hear about your foot. I hope it heals quickly for you so you can enjoy the days out. Glad to hear that your DD made it home safe, I miss my DD's chatting. She use to be non-stop.....now it's a whole different story!
Sue--Bravo for getting in exercise on a exercise free day!! I have never used a mini stepper. I have never liked the stair stepper they have in the gyms....ALWAYS kicked my butt! You'll probably see great results in the back end in no time!! :)
Mindee--Your MIL will be lonely as time goes on due to her ways. Sad really. But you can't change people. My family seems divided. We have the half that can afford anything and like to talk about it constantly and then the other half who struggle from paycheck to paycheck. Makes for an uncomfortable atmosphere sometimes.
Jane--Did the DGK's wear you out!! Come back and tell us how the day went.
So is anyone watching BB8??? (BigBrother8) Come to find out that the gal Kail....used to work at the lab that I work in. She is a high school friend of one of my co-workers. What a small world it is isn't it??
Well as I was walking....I was surveying my side yard, if you want to call it that. It's just a strip of yard the size of a sidewalk. In between our house and the neighbors is an alley way. It's actually a flood drainage spot but people of course walk through it. Anyway....I spotted some dandelions growing...and they're ready to start flying in the wind!! I'm going to sneak over there and pull them. I don't want to be pulling weeds like crazy. The neighbors have a beautiful yard....they just seem to forget that part of it.
Anyway.... gotta scoot and tackle those weeds before the rain starts up again.
Have a great Saturday!!

Good Evening Ladies:wave:
Wanted to check in real quick, feeling kinda off since yesterday, got an earache and TOM is getting ready to hit...Hubby is in Washington Courthouse, Ohio waiting for his next load...the boy is going to a birthday party with friends tonite so no taxi service which works for me cause I really don't feel like having to go out again...well I hope everyone has a nice weekend I am gonna go lay down and see if this silly ear will stop hurting, Have a Good Evening All.
Welcome to Dee and Rhonda
Marti - Thanks and 2 hours just about kills me LOL
Sue - Hope your ear feels better soon, I know how you feel mine is killing me, I have a mini stepper, I really like it, I keep it in the living room and try to get 1000 steps on it a day.
Your next WDW vacation is 50 days away!
07-21-2007, 10:20 PM
Happy Sat. night....Wonderful weather here today. I rode 5 miles and did 10 minutes on the stepper. Boy, Marti is right, that thing kicks my butt. Might be the fact that I haven't been able to adjust it. I think it is stuck on "way too hard." :)
I helped DH with the arbor today and am happy to say it is standing, level and plumb. He dug the holes, I just helped after that difficult chore was done. It took quite a long time to get it set up. He still has to re-bury the cable we had to move and also the downspout drains. There is always more to a job than meets the eye.
Pink Jane- Wow, if you do the stepper and the treadmill you should get a medal. That stepper is really something! I have friends at Washington Court House...small world. haha Hope your earache is better...mine is a bit better.
Marti- I wanted to watch BB this year, but it started when we were in Vegas and I missed it. Seems like I never see much tv in the summer.
Cristina- Any luck finding a dress for the wedding? I just typed that and had to chuckle...when my DS was 5 we were going to a wedding, but after we were leaving on vacation. He was so antsy and during the wedding I gave him paper and pencil to draw. He passed me a note that said "I don't want to be at this weeding no more." I kept that note. LOL
Dee- Wow, sure hope your foot is feeling better and also hope that you get to go snorkeling soon.
Jane- Wasn't it a beautiful day here today...and yesterday wasn't shabby. I love summer when it isn't humid. My willpower was a little more under control today...still not where it should be though.
Mindee- Buns of Steel is right...you have to have legs of steel to use this stepper. You would think mine would be strong with all the biking, but this thing is rough. Hope the kids are allowing you to have a nice relaxing week-end. (can you tell it has been a long time since I had babies?)
No plans for tomorrow. What's going on at your house?
07-23-2007, 02:11 AM
hello ladies....just stopping by really quickly since it is late and I am tired! We ended up going to Ohio again for an overnight trip this time. It was a lot of fun! It was for a birthday party for some friends of Tommy's. Saturday night we had a BBQ, drank (not me) beer, had a fire and just relaxed. Sunday we went to the mall in Findlay, had another BBQ, they opened presents and then we came home.
Dee~ I hope your water warnings let up soon!
Cristina~ Marissa is doing great! She is starting to talk a lot more, and she was smiling constantly while we were in Ohio. I changed her butt before we left and she was sticking her tongue out at me while I was changing her diaper. The boys are doing great! They didn't take naps on Saturday so it was kind of easy getting Logan to sleep, but then he woke up so it took forever to get him to fall back asleep!
Marti~ You just described my hubby's family! Most of them can afford the "high life" as Tommy's dad calls it, and then the other half (like us, and his parents) who struggle week to week. Now that you mentioned the food journal, I think I am going to start that back up again! I used to do it as well, and then when I got pregnant with Logan I stopped. Now that we are officially done having kids, I think I am going to do it again!
Pink Jane~ How long has your hubby been a truck driver? The friends that we went to see in Ohio are either truck drivers now, and they were. It makes for some interesting conversations. In fact, Saturday night around the fire, the conversation led to bridges that they all had to drive on.
Sue~ I actually had a relaxing weekend. It will be more relaxing if it can be a weekend with just me and Tommy. But that will come in October! Tommy is standing up in a friend's wedding (actually they are the kids' godparents, well a set of them anyways) and they are not inviting kids, so we are going to get a sitter for the rehearsal and then for the wedding. The only thing that bites about it, is that it is the Thursday and Friday before Logan's birthday. Plus, our lease is also up at the end of the month of October. So, it will be an eventful time.
07-23-2007, 08:51 AM
Good morning, ladies!
Marti - our fair begins today, and Jackson is entered in the baby contest. I've planned a health dinner for before we go, so I'm not temped by fair food. Yay for you journaling again. It really helps so much. I write mine on lined school paper each evening while I'm watching tv, for the next day, and keep the pages in a 3-ring binder.
Mindee - glad you had fun in Ohio. One more thought about the GMIL - I'd skip the flowers and send her only a card, then spend the flower money at Chuck E Cheese with the kids. Jackson found his toes this weekend. It's hilarious to watch him try to get them, lol.
Cristina - have you got a date with the soldier's family yet? I admire you for walking in the humidity. It would kill me, lol. Who's getting married in Sept? If you have a Goody's where you live, they have the cutest summer dresses on clearance.
Sue - hahahaha, I laughed out loud when I read your "way too hard" comment. You crack my up! No, I've never used one, but the elliptical is just a bigger version of it, I'm thinking. Glad your earache is better. I watched a medical show last night about a gal who had a June bug in her ear canal. Yikes!
Dee - sorry about your foot, car, and money troubles, and hope things get better real soon. My Mary was (still is!) my talker. Now she has 3 little talkers of her own, lol.
PJ - time to change your ticker the the 40's! WOOHOO!! I'm excited for you! My vacay in Fla is 222 days away. :dizzy: How's your ear today?
Mary Kate, Jules, Sassy Tammy, Jodi, Vann, hope all is well for you. You're missed, and I hope you check in soon.
Wow, the weekend went by so fast! Mary and I went school clothes/supplies shopping Saturday. She got some good bargains. Then Neal and I had company Sat nite. Yesterday, I had my ex-inlaws over for dinner, we all had such a good time. Neal likes them as much as I do, since he has so much in common with my ex-fil. They and I always stayed friends after the divorce, because it's easier on kids that way, plus they are simply such good people.
Today I'm babysitting again, then tonight Neal and I are going to the fair. As I mentioned, Jackson is in the baby contest. Also, my great niece has a photography exhibit in the 4-H display and I want to see that.
Have a good one, and I'll see you later!
07-23-2007, 11:37 AM
Good Morning ladies--
This one is going to be a quicky for now......my arms are killing me.
We went kayaking and spent 4hrs or so paddling! Well....my hubby did most of the paddling since I kept getting us going in circles! but it's a major workout!
I have some photos I'll share later, maybe after work........
Ok...I need coffee and some breakfast.
I shall chat w/you all later tonight.
07-23-2007, 04:16 PM
Jane~ That sounds like an idea to me! I will mention it to Tommy...I am sure that he will like the idea too.
Marti~ that sounds like a great workout! Tommy has mentioned going kayaking before......I have never been but he has at least once.
07-23-2007, 09:46 PM
I finally made it home and ran all day yesterday and today. Just sat down to watch the CMA music festival, eating North Carolina watermelon trying to flush out the 3 lbs I gained last week. We had a great time, did alot of beach walking but I guess I ate more than I exercised. Going back to work tomorrow :( No time for individuals tonight but promise to catch up sometime this week.
Marti--I just caught you singing on the CMA music festival tonight,...err I mean Sara Evans. I swear girl you look just like her.
Hugs to everyone, I'm pooped and need to settle down and try to get relax before going to bed. See ya!!
07-23-2007, 09:49 PM
Quick one here too as I am worn out. I rode 8 miles today then grocery shopped. DH and I went shopping for flagstone to make a walk-way....well, we found big slabs of stone that we liked and bought 1500 pounds. Guess who helped him un-load and lay a part of it? Yeah...you got that right. We have to finish tomorrow.
I started journaling/counting calories. Feel the need to do something different. I rode 41 miles last week and when I got on my scales it was the same. What the heck does a body have to do to lose? I had 2 people ask me if I had lost weight last week and I KNOW my legs are getting more shapely. So, okay, this is the point where I usually throw in the towel. But...I am just going to re-vamp and try harder.
Hi to Mindee, Marti, Dee, Cristina, PJ and glad to see Jane and Tammy back. Now, where are the rest of the missing JL's??? Don't make me come get you!!
07-23-2007, 10:03 PM
Good Evening Ladies:wave:
Hope everyone had a good weekend...thought I was gonna die yesterday with that silly earache but about 9:30 last nite it just stopped, not sure why but I was sure glad LOL, needless to say yesterday was an off day exercise wise, but I got my 2 hours on the treadmill in today and earned a new blister LOL...had a heck of a storm roll through this morning, we needed it though so the rain was welcomed...had a chicken breast with some Mrs. Dash marinade for dinner tonite and just finished cutting up a watermelon so I'm gonna have some here in a few...well have a Good Evening All and I'll be back tomorrow.
Sue - Glad your ear is better, mine is still a little sore but 1000% better then yesterday
Mindee - He's been driving for 9 yrs
Jane - Woo Hoo I can't wait to go!!! I got our custom maps with all our favorites on them in the mail today so I have been dreaming all day LOL, I wish they hadn't put 2 parks on each map I want to get them matted and framed.
Your next WDW vacation is 48 days away!
07-24-2007, 12:51 AM
I'm going to start another thread....so come join me in chitchat #260!!!!
