Good morning and pass the coffee! Amazingly enough, I'm not stiff and sore from yesterday's workout with the new trainer - who is named Linda, by the way! I've never met a Linda I didn't like!
Another sun/rain/sun/rain day in store! We've had crazy weather like that all month. Some of the campers in the Park have given up and gone home.
I'm off to Ottawa shortly to meet some 3FC MODs for brunch. Hershey and Lucy are going to doggie daycare and will have fur-stylings while they are there. I'm so lucky to have 4PawsInn as the Girls seem to like it there. The owners truly love dogs and there are other dogs to bark with every time a car pulls in! They'll be very tired tonight! :smug:
Enjoy the weekend. Time is precious but don't bank it. USE it it!

:sunny::sunny::sunny: I'm sending you some sunshine, Ruth! We managed to dodge the rain last night, and it's a beautiful sunny morning! Have lots of fun today, and if my ears start ringing, I'll know you're talking about me, so behave! Hope the "girls" enjoy their day at the doggie spa, too. :)
We're going out to breakfast as soon as Jake's finished in the shower, then a stop at Home Depot for paint for the deck. I want to make a quick stop at Trader Joe's this morning, too. The rest of the day will be spent sanding and painting the deck. We may go to Cape May tomorrow, we'll have to see how Jake's back is doing. He's been having a lot of problems with it lately. If we don't go tomorrow, I'm going to go by myself later in the week.
What's everyone have planned for the weekend?

Good morning, Ruth and Cottage! (HA! I just typed "Cootage" and had to edit!)
Tom's mom is named Linda. She's very nice as well! We drove from New Jersey to Seattle, Washington when Tom and I were dating, just the two of us, so we're pretty close. Have a nice day with the moderators!!
I hope your day pans out so you can make it down to the Jersey shore, Cottage! You have some relaxing to do in my name!
We had a gorgeous day today! It was not as humid as it's been and the sun was out all day. BEAUTIFUL blue skies!!! Yoga was even better than usual - I did a bridge for the first time since gymnastics Nationals my senior year of college, almost ten years ago! I felt so stretchy and limber after class. Connor did SO well at his martial arts class today. The instructor had him do a test run for his next belt, and next Saturday he'll test for his green belt (about half way up the "belt chain" to black). He's excited, and I'm brimming with pride!
I've started counting calories to see if I can hedge my way out of this 128-125-128 cycle I've been stuck in. I realized I must have been eating well over 2000 calories a day, probably closer to 2500, which explains the gaining and small losing I've been doing since coming off Phase 1. I'm going to try to stick to around 1500 calories a day and see where that takes me. I'm not super attached to any particular number on the scale, but I'd really love to lose this jelly belly and it must be shrinking, but it's doing so in proportion to everything else so it just doesn't seem to be getting any smaller! I did notice today when I was running that my butt doesn't seem quite so jiggly and that was encouraging.
Off to read to the kids before they hit the sack. Tom is golfing with a friend in the morning and then we're having that friend over for dinner - grilled veggies for me and flank steak for the boys. Mmmmm!
Have a nice day!

Ruth- have a fab day, and I hope the furbabies do to.
Cottage- enjoy your day. RELAX you deserve it.
Kara- Congrats on the butt not jiggling.
Me- have no darn idea what I am going to do today. The sun is shinning but so far I have no plans.
Well Must dash and atleast get the housework done in case we decide to do something. I think I will get a hair color today and change my color as well.

Morning all!
Nothing much happening here. Looks like I don't have a lot of work this morning, so I am going to spend the bulk of the day deep cleaning this house.
I'm getting ready to go start a pot of black beans for this evening. My husband is working a very odd schedule for a couple of weeks where every day is a different time, so I am having to adjust my eating schedule a bit.
Kara, I know we have this discussion going on another thread, but I was really shocked when I installed fitday on my computer and started really tracking what I was eating (everything OP). When I started looking at the reports, I was shocked at how much fat (percentage wise) I had been eating...it was all olive oil and "trace" amounts in other foods, but it looked like almost 1/2 of my calories were coming from fat! So I have adjusted that by just replacing some of what I've been eating. For example, for a snack yesterday, I had some raw broccoli and cauliflower and a tablespoon of vegetable dip that is very low in fat. At the end of what I considered my "eating day", I had had only 971 calories and it was pretty evenly split between protein, carbs and fats. I thought that was way too low calorie wise, but I had eaten lots of food...so I ended up eating a couple of slices of turkey and a couple of SF popsicles which still kept me under 1280 calories.
I also went back to the "gym" yesterday and thought I had not been there long enough when I finished my "routine". Then I looked at the clock and realized I had been working out for an hour and 14 minutes which also shocked me. I usually hate exercising, unless it's doing yard work or home improvement kind of stuff. But with my little mp3 stuck in my ears, I didn't mind it at all. I'm going to try to walk further on the walking machine next time and raise the angle a little too. I think between fitday and working out, I am going to start sliding off that 2 week plateau soon. I'm waiting about a week or two before I weight though.

Cat, I know what you mean about the fat percentage. I'm still struggling trying to get my protein above my fat intake. It's all the "good fats" but still... At least we've figured out this plateauing bit. Congrats on the good gym workout! I would be lost without my iPod. Tom had gotten it for me for Christmas and though I hadn't really ever thought about wanting one, I LOVE it for running! In fact, I just uploaded a whole new set of songs this morning. It really helps me with my pace and with not being bored while I'm working out. Otherwise, I spend the whole time making lists and doing math in my head!
LC, I can't wait to see your pics! I bet you look stunning!

Good morning ladies. It's a lovely day again today in the DC area and I am about to grab a cup of coffee and head for the deck to start my day. I have busy day with afternoon tea today and dinner with friends tonight and in between picking up the house. Blanca is coming again to clean next Saturday. It seems like she was just here but actually it will be a month.
Absolutely nothing on the calendar for tomorrow. DH is playing golf at 7 so I will probably be at 6 with him. I may hit the pool too.
I tried the fitday and for one day, I was shocked by how much fat I had consumed. It frutstrating a bit because I can't always find the food I'v eaten. I will keep trying it and see how it goes.
Ruth, Cottage, LC, Kara and Femme-I wish you all a fabulous day.
Cheers!

Morning girlies. Yeeeeaaaawwwnnnn. Just gotta get through today so I can be off tomorrow.
My DH's mom's name is Linda, too. Weird.
So slightly embarrassing story because DH is a Dingus. I ordered a new swim suit from Victoria's Secret because they make their tops in bra sizes, not just letters like DD or XL. I have a problem with suit tops because the cups fit but it's far too big around so everything falls down anyway. The one I ordred was on clearance, but backordered, and I got the top in the mail yesterday. (The bottom was shipped yesterday so I should have a whole suit by next week!)
So I put the top on and it fits PERFECTLY. Even makes me look smaller, which is a huge plus, and it's kind of sporty instead of.... well.... slutty looking. So I took a pic from neck to belly button with my cell phone and sent it to DH who was at work because I was excited that it fit. I've been waiting for it forever.
Well, I guess he's used to getting inappropriate pics from his friend on his phone, and he didn't see who the text was from, so when the pic popped up, he went "Oooh!" One of the other guys was like "What's oooh?" and DH said "Look what my friend sent me!" and showed it to him. Then he scrolled down to see where I typed "My new suit top fits!" and was like "DOH. That's my wife."
A) How are you with someone for 5 years and not recognize them without seeing their face?
B) Why would you share boob pics with someone at work?
C) How do you not see YOUR couch and YOUR front door and YOUR Bears blanket in the background?
So yeah. Garrett at O'Charley's got a sneak peak of what I look like in a bikini top. Sigh. Davis.
LC, can't wait to see the new do!
Kara? No butt jiggle? I'm SO jealous. I am in a state of constant jiggle. Congrats though! I started using FitDay last night to see where I'm at because I strive for 1200-1700 Cal/Day and I'm right in there. I almost fainted when the pie chart showed that like 58% of my food intake was carbs, but then I realized that 2/3 of my carbs were vegetables and they count. Whew.
Oh crap, I want to reply to everyone but I have to hit the shower so I'm not late for work. Ugh. Hope everyone has a good day!

Morning Chicks,
Long stressful day yesterday. Busy weekend planned. My plan for all of August is to have a nervous breakdown and sit on the couch. The whole month. DD was flying out to Jamaica this morning. Because the Passport office is so behind on passports, they are allowing people to fly with evidence that they have applied for a passport, even if they haven't received it. Yesterday I checked the state dept website and called US Air to make sure we had the right docs. Then get a panicky call from her this morning that they need a particular page printed from the State Dept website. I'm screaming down the highway to Kinko's at 7:05 AM because my fax is broken. She has to receive the doc by 7:15 or they lock her out of the flight. I made it! Haven't heard from her and her phone is off, so I guess she's in the air now. Fun way to wake up on a Saturday!
Today we go to DC to do some of the Smithsonians, maybe the archives, tomorrow we'll go back and do monuments. We've got beautiful weather for it, should be fun!
The best news, I weighed in this morning and am down another 2 lbs. at least (14 lb total). I say at least because I've got a wierd analog scale that shows a reading when I first step on and then goes up a pound or so. I'm excited to be on target and next week I may enter a new decade!
Good morning Ruth, hope your doggies have fun at the spa!
Good morning Kara, femme, and Cottage!
Littlechick, I'm jealous of your makeover. Maybe I'll make that one of my rewards.
Shequila, I think Fitday is frustrating too. I'm on the lookout for something better. But it does the trick for now.
Weezle, your story made me giggle. guys are so dumb.
Have a wonderful day all, and stay on plan!

LC I can't wait to see you new hairdo! I am glad you treated yourself. :)
Weezle That story is hilarious and totally sounds like something my DH would do. Hope your day at work is a good one!
Cottage You are a "free" woman for a week. :carrot: I think Cape May by yourself sounds delightful. :)
Schmoodle Congrats on the weight loss- that is fantastico!
Femme You can head right on over to Dallas once you are done with your deep cleaning! My house needs it badly. I actually have a harder time keeping up with it in the summer when I am home b/c the girls are constantly messing it up!
Shequila Sounds like a fun day in store for you. Is it hard for you to stay OP when you eat out? I always seem to be more tempted.
Ruth That sounds so much like our weather around here. Hope you enjoy your day!
Me- Not much on the agenda for today. I am just exhausted and more than happy to chill at home. Dinner was fun last night, although we ate really late. I had several glasses of wine by the time we ate and was quite tipsy, so DH drove my car home and left his there. I am without transportation until he gets home, so maybe I will get motivated to clean the house since we can't go anywhere. My sister's new BF is a really neat guy- bloke, I should say, he is from England and has a gorgeous accent.
Have a great day chickies!

Good Saturday Morning, Chickies! DH is in the kitchen making breakfast, so I actually have some time to post today!
Ruth: Glad things went well with Linda. I start with my trainer on Monday and I hope she's as nice as yours is. I'm picturing the girls getting their puppy pampering done!
Cottage: Sounds like a good, productive start to your vacation. Hope Jake's back gets better overnight so ya'll can head to the Cape.
Kara: WTG on the bridge in yoga! And how wonderful for Connor (and the proud Mommy). Sounds like dinner will be a good one!
LC: Can't wait to see pics of the new do! What color are you going to change it to?
Femme:Great job at the gym! Isn't it amazing how great music can make you forget where you are all together?
Sheila: I wish we could trade days. Tea and dinner with friends sounds much better than my painting. Hope it's a great day for you!
Lisa:HOW EMBARASSING! I know you look better in a bathing suit that I do, but STILL! I would be giving DH the doofus talk when he got home if it were me!
Schmoodle: Great job on the "at least" 2 lb loss! Sounds like a fun day in DC! That's one trip I would like to eventually make!
Kiko: I know that feeling so well. What's life if we can't let loose every once in a while and make DH drive?
ME: DH and I went and got the paint for the living room last night. I'm going to start painting after breakfast. Other than that, all I've got to do is iron a few shirts for myself and DH this weekend. If the walls only need one coat, I'm going to paint the bedroom with the rest of the paint next weekend.
Well, sounds like breakfast is ready! Have a great day, everyone!

Morning everyone. Man am I currently miserable. :P I had a really bad allergy attack last week so I managed to get an appointment at an allergist for next Tuesday (and when I say I, I mean my mom. My best tries got me an appointment for just a consultation in August.. but my mom has the golden touch for getting what she wants when she wants it), but because they'll be doing allergy testing, I have to go off my zyrtec.
So, yesterday was my first day off it and by the end of work, I was COVERED in a bright red rash and had raised lines all over my skin. I don't even know what could have sparked it because I had pretty plain salads for breakfast and dinner and chickpeas for a snack. I was too scared to eat dinner! This morning I woke up to sniffles (the zyrtec also stopped seasonal allergies), my arms, legs, stomach, and bottom of my feet itching like crazy, and a stomach ache which I think might also be allergy related. Even my TONGUE feels prickly. Does anyone else have food allergies like this? All of my friends who are allergic think this is the strangest thing in the world. :P
I've only been up for 2 hours and already downed 2 litres of water trying to flush out whatever is causing this out of my system! And I'm really afraid of eating anything to make it worse! I think I'm going to have roasted chickpeas on field greens for breakfast, crab cakes for lunch, and maybe mushroom-spinach brown rice risotto for dinner. I don't think there's anything in any of those that I suspect as being an allergen... I hope. Send me non-itchy vibes!!!

I started Phase 1 yesterday. I'm trying to break a plateau this is the healthest way I know how. The scale is showing 188 but TOM is coming next week and I can def. feel it. My stomach is cramping already! I hope the 1lb gain is due to bloated-ness! I'm working to stay on plan and hope to lose some pounds on Phase 1.

Welcome, City Girl and JusJ!
I need to do a big house cleaning myself, Kiko. Brian needed to move the couch to look for a Lego this morning and when we saw all the dust bunnies we ended up moving everything in the living room to clean it. There is still dust on DH's stuff but there isn't much I can do about his stuff.
Brian wanted to go bike riding this morning so we went out for about an hour. Got home just before it started to rain. Then he wanted to try out some of the programs on the treadmill and he did 53 minutes before lunch. I just got an hour done myself this afternoon. His trigyceride level was high at his 10 year old checkup. His doctor said he didn't need to lose weight but he needed to stay where he was at while gaining height (he is only 5% on the height charts) so he has started being more careful on what he eats. It was mostly snacks that he was eating that weren't healthy. His doctor recommended 30 minutes of exercise a day and he is having fun with the bike and treadmill so I'm not going to argue. It motivates me to exercise more.
Monday is his actual 10 year old birthday. I told him he could have anything he wants to eat for dinner and dessert and he chose beef, veggie stir fry with SF jello. He really prefers that over cake. Cake has always been too sweet for him.
Time to head to the grocery store. I'm trying a few new meals this week. Mostly phase 1 but moving into phase 2 as well.

Yeah, I was slightly embarrassed. Fortunately, I didn't have any of the "bad" parts of me on there otherwise I'd be completely MORTIFIED. My stomach is flat until you hit the belly button and then there's the ol' beer gut roll thing that's very disproportionate to the rest of my stomach. Burn, fat, burn!
So yeah, I'll let DH know that the other girls thought he was a Dingus too. He's more embarrassed than I am, now, I think. It's pretty funny. :D

Hey chicks I am feeling fine, just soaked in the tub for 1 1/2 with a great seaweed bath bomb, and super conditioned my hair, and a clay mask, then I did a sea salt scrub, then showered it all off. Did my hair and make up got dressed, took some pics of myself and know I am sitting in front of the computer. DH is napping, life is not boring but content. Here are some pics of my new do. Not very good it is kinda hard to take self pics. I do have a tripod and a timer which helped a bit. :D

Kiko, I'm glad you liked your sister's boyfriend. All of my sisters have great husbands/fiances and it makes family gatherings so much better!
Kim, I'm jealous you had breakfast made for you! Hope the painting goes well!!!
Allie, my son had food allergies that caused eczema when he was younger. It was awful! Even one Cheerio, with the second to last ingredient being wheat would give him a reaction. It was no fun for him, and I feel so badly for you!!! Hope Tuesday comes fast for you and you get some relief! Would you be able to take any Benedryl for a temporary fix?

Wow, lots of folks in DC today! We went to Nt'l Art Gallery and Natural History Museum/Imax and did Washington Monument and White House from a distance. While we were there, youngest DD came down with the stomach virus DS had last week. I didn't realize at first, thought she was tired and cranky from a sleepover party last night. Now I feel bad for dragging her around all day. At least she didn't start spewing until we got home. Now I've got to find a sitter because I planned to take the niece back tomorrow - Air & Space, National Archives, Lincoln/Jefferson memorials.
Kara, I do remember putting on jeans and sandals as I ran out the door. I think I had pajama top on and definitely bedhead and no brushed teeth. The lady at Kinko's was very nice and helped because I was so panicked I couldn't dial the fax. Definitely one of those less joyful moments of motherhood. Oldest DD provides me with plenty of those!
Littlechick, the pix are great! Very glamorous, and your hair color is very pretty. Sounds like you had a wonderful "all about me" day.
Kiko, hope you enjoyed your down day. I'm sure your house looks better than mine right now, but there is no cleaning in my near future. I'm trying to figure out when and how to hit the grocery store.
Barb, your son sounds so sweet. I've got a 10 yr old boy. They are the best!

No time for personals to everybody, I just wanted to check in and say hello. I've just finished two incredibly brutal weeks at work and was too exhausted to do a lot of posting.

Hey all, just a quick pop-in...I just got my "interwebs" hooked back up again, but after another full day of packing/moving, I'm not going to be able to keep my head up too much longer.
Weezle...totally hilarious story! He missed all his possessions in the background because he was too busy looking at you! By the way, how's the no-smoking going? My quit date is Wednesday... I feel like I've done so many good things for my body in the past few months, that really it's time to take this final step.
LC...I LOVE the new 'do! Strawberry blond looks great on you, and really brings out your glow!
Kara and Femme, what kind of iPods do you run with? I've been strapping my big iPod to my arm when I get on the treadmill, and it's a total pain. I've been trying to decide if it might be worth investing in a smaller one.
Ok...sleepy time now. I hope everyone has a nice night.

Betty, it's been 2 weeks, 6 days, 3 hours, and 20 minutes since my last ciggie, not that anyone's counting. Actually, I'm fine. I did the patch for the first two weeks and then forgot to wear it last Sunday, so I thought I'd see if I could go without the patch, and I can. The first two weeks I definitely needed it because that was when I was kicking the actual habit part, but after two weeks, I don't think about smoking during the day much, and if I do, it's only once. It's become habit NOT to smoke.
So I definitely recommend using Step 1 of the patch for at least the first two weeks (I'm returning Step 2 to Walmart tomorrow to get my $25 back!) and buy stock in Stride gum. The flavor really does last like 2 hours and it keeps your mouth busy so not only are you not smoking, but you're not eating either, and it's sugar-free.
I'm on my Ph2/Weight Watchers combo, so I still drink occasionally, and I don't even really crave a smoke when drinking. If it's a strong martini or something and everyone else gets to smoke, then I might have a craving, but if no one else is getting up to go outside and smoke, I don't even think about it.
Good luck to you! If I can do it, anybody can, because I was one who was like "I can't have a smoke?" SOB, CHOKE, WHINE, BLUBBER. Very emotionally attached to my smokie treats. They were my security blanket. Not so much anymore. I find that I'm addicted to (of all things) vegetables now. Weird huh? You can totally do it!

Glad you got the pants on before you headed out, Schmoodle! I'm sure the folks at Kinkos are used to people showing up all crazed and in a panic!
I am eating soybeans. They are so good!
Liannie, hope this weekend is nice and relaxing for you and that your pace settles next week.
Betty, I have no clue what kind of iPod I have. I am not technologically savvy. It's about three inches by two inches maybe and perhaps the width of two credit cards? I know it can hold music and pictures. I love it! I've found it's most comfortable if I wear it with the arm band and the headphones cord inside my shirt so it's not bouncing all over the place and getting in my way.
Lisa, what's your new favorite veggie?

Hello all, sounds like you are having a wonderful and busy weekend. We got back from a lovely vacation going to see inlaws in Texas, it was a nice trip and even better the kids did not argue with each other at all this trip.
I am back at work this weekend, almost done with 2nd day of 12's only one more to go. I will go home and catch a couple hours of z's and then meet up with the family at church (not hard to do when you only live three houses down hehe).
Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday :)

33 posts! We sure are chatty chickies!
Ellis, Mauvais, Ilene and I had a great lunch/brunch yesterday in Ottawa's trendy Market area. We've decided we need to do this more often. We did a bit of shopping in Domus, an upscale kitchen shop and generally just had a fun time. I took in a quilt show when I was in the city and also worked in a visit to my dear Aunt Rose. I picked up the dogs from the groomer ($100) and was home by 6. I got kidnapped and dragged to the Long Horn where I had a veggie burger and no wine!
Today is Church, a visit to Harry and then a BBQ later for the music festival volunteers. One of these days I'll manage to finish my book!
Enjoy your Sunday and sleep well, Indigal and Kara!

Kitty, great job on the extra loss! You're really chipping away at your goal!
Pearl, glad your vacation was nice. I'm blessed with wonderful in-laws as well - known them over half of my life and they're just terrific, caring people that I'm lucky to call family. What is your secret for a non-arguing trip?! Actually, my kids travel very well, but I wish they would apply the same principles to their day-to-day interactions!
We had a really nice time with our friend who came for dinner. Tom grilled a flank steak with a Jack Daniels sauce, which I had none of obviously. I made some grilled veggies in the broiler since I don't care too much for the smokey taste of his smoker grill and also made a delicious fruit salad, if I do say so myself. I had "fake steak" as well, to squeeze some protein in there. I weighed myself this morning and had gained three pounds so I'm BACK to 128 AGAIN and I was very frustrated since I've been staying at 1500 calories since Friday and getting all my exercise in, but then this afternoon I got my period so I'm hoping that will explain away the three pound gain. I was also happy to find out I wasn't pregnant again - not that I thought I was, but this cycle was 65 days long, so it was kind of nagging me in the back of my head a little.
Anyway, I'm going to relax a bit before bed. I swam twenty laps at the pool today, pretty proud of that!
See you all in the morn!

Thank you for the sleep wishes, Ruth! If you don't mind, would you let Avery know that Mommy would like a full night's rest? That would be divine! Glad your meet-up went nicely!

WHERE THE HECK IS NESSA?! I need her to smack me because I want some ICE CREAM SO BADLY! Ahhhhhhhh! Ice cream, ice cream, ice cream.
It is TOO late to be eating ice cream. 8:53 pm. I would be up all night on a sugar rush.
I have worked TOO hard the past three days, staying at 1500 calories a day to ruin all of that good self-control with one pint of ice cream.
I have exercised TOO hard over the past month to ruin it all with one pint of ice cream. Is it worth running eight miles for? NO! Not if that running tomorrow will burn fat that I already have to lose, not new fat from eating ice cream tonight.
Oooh, I think my rational side may be returning. Hmmm. THANK GOODNESS FOR 3FC! Were it not for this board, I would have cracked into the sweet-treat-that-shall-not-be-named by now. In the spirit of Harry Potter, I will now refer to temptations in that way!
My beach towel is a magic carpet that will carry me above and away from nasty, unhealthy food. Think of Kitty's picture of the fat.
Thanks for allowing my little rant!

Morning gals...
Just a quick post as I need to get my sleepyheads out of bed and ready for church. We went to a friend's house to celebrate her birthday last night, and it was another late night. My poor girls are going to be exhausted today. I may need to force Abigail into a nap.
After church, not too much on the agenda for the day. I think I will try a new recipe for dinner, although I am not sure what.

Kara,
I don't know that I have a new "favorite" veggie.... I guess the edamame, but I don't know if it counts as a veggie. It LOOKS like a veggie, but I think it's a soy bean. Here's what I've been eating lately though:
carrots and cauliflower with dip
broccoli, carrot, cauliflower mix with garlic and butter spray
broccoli, carrot, red pepper, mushroom, corn mix with olive oil spray and garlic over whole wheat cous cous
plain broccoli or green beans with garlic and butter spray
spinach with garlic and bacon bits
Yes, I love garlic. Is that a veggie? :D

Hi chicks, not much to say, I just wanted to post because I just updated my ticker!
Just got back from grocery shopping. Off to DC soon for day 2. It will be much more hot and humid today, I fear.
Nessa, glad to see you back and way to go on the 2 lbs!
Have a lovely day everyone.

Good Morning All,
Cool Sunday here in corn country. Great to see you back Nessa. I sent you a message about DDR and sci-fi.
All you veggie lovers have me inspired! I've been pretty much rotating between cauliflower, broccoli, green beans and cabbage for the last week or so. I'm still afraid of corn and peas because they're so sweet but I do love them so! The carrot in the cole slaw mix hasn't derailed me yet, so maybe I will add a sprinkle of corn to something this week. I'm really treading carefully in Phase 2 since I went so off-track in the early days. I'm having Chinese food at a restaurant today for lunch so it shouldn't be hard to eat a bunch of veggies.
Have a great day all!

Kara and Femme, what kind of iPods do you run with?
I have a little sony walkman (http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11304583/Sony_Network_Walkman_Nw_e507_1gb_MP3_Player.jpg). I love it cause it is tiny..about the size of a cigarette lighter/thumb drive. It holds around 600 songs, so has tons of room to add stuff. It's also tiny enough that if I don't have a shirt on with a pocket, I can just shove it in my bra!

Good Morning!!!
I just had my big weigh in! I have been on south beach phase one for five full days and I was not expecting a huge loss because I have been eating healthy before this.
So, I jumped on the scale and i lost 4.3 pounds!
I'm really excited for this and it just reminds me how wonderful south beach really is. I ate a little too much dairy yesterday so I think I need to cut back on that. Other than that, I am doing pretty well :)
Also, I run with a Video iPod. Its not big and I don't really feel it. I have a ton of songs so its the only thing I can really use.
Oh yah, along with my scale victory i also had a NSV this morning! After my weigh in I walked downstairs to get some water and my father went 'Woooah you look so skinny!! Your face is like TIGHT!"
I laughed it off but it really made me feel great

I actually lost 4.5 pounds on phase 1! I only lost 4 pounds on it when I did it several years ago (but I was on a diuretic then and didn't have any water to lose). I'm moving into phase 2 a little faster than I recommend for a first timer because I know which foods work for me and which to limit or avoid.
BTW, corn is not allowed on South Beach. I just want you to know so you can make your own educated decision. I've been known to eat it once or twice a year but I don't like it unless it is on the cob and has Smart Balance and salt. It's easy for me to avoid.
We are back from church already. I feel yesterday's exercise in my gluts so I know it did some good. We're going this afternoon to see Harry Potter at the IMAX. I am so excited!

Quick post after Church which was followed by a steady stream of drop-ins! I've had Liz down to borrow my big coffee pot, Caron here to scrounge some lettuce, two new people from Church who came to admire the garden, Freida who wanted a copy of the Fair entry sheets, a teacher with some very late schoolwork..... all this in an hour and a half! I am considering becoming a hermit!
This afternoon I go to a BBQ which is a thankyou for volunteering at the music festival. I am debating taking the Doggage along as it's at a cottage with lots of kids who will enjoy the mutts. On the other hand, the Girls are really tired from yesterday's day at the spa and may prefer to just sleep! It also looks like rain and two wet dogs in a small cottage with tons of people may not be appreciated.
Decisions! Decisions!

Nessa, I think I'm allergic to garlic! Hold me! My mom mentioned it yesterday because I didn't eat anything I suspected I was allergic to- but I did have a lot of garlic and was covered from head to toe (literally! having the bottom of your feet itch is the worst!) with rashes and hives. I fit every symptom for a garlic allergy. I'm getting tested Tuesday and I think I will have a nervous breakdown if it's true! Garlic is like one of my food groups. :(
Today will probably be pretty laid back. Will be eating a bunch of leftovers and staying near my pump bottle of aloe. I really want to go out and take a walk but I don't know if I can get myself going when I'm so itchy. Tuesday can't come fast enough!

charolastra00 - I took a reaction one time and was covered from head to under my feet. I remember how bad that was and how itchy. You poor thing. I hope you can get some relief soon. I will keep my fingers crossed it is not garlic for you. Take care.

Nothing exciting going on here, just sitting watching the paint dry. Literally. Jake's been in a lousy mood and didn't want to go to Cape May today. He never seems to want to go anywhere anymore, just stay home all the time. I think I gave him a guilt trip though, because he said he's going to take off work Wed, Thurs, & Friday, and he'll take me to the shore then. He doesn't like the idea of me going by myself. I told him he'd better lose the attitude first though, because no way am I going to spend a day at my favorite place in the world with a sourpuss! I think it worked. ;)
Dustin, Andrea and Amber are coming over for dinner and swimming later. I have a London Broil marinating for the carnivores, with some shrimp for me. We're also having corn-on-the-cob, grilled zucchini, deviled eggs, and a lowfat, sugarfree berry cheesecake that I concocted.

We are so close to being done moving! We've been transporting everything in our car, making about three million trips (the new place is only four blocks away). This evening my brother (25 and a weightlifter) and little sister (she's 14, but taller and stronger than me!) will be here with my parent's truck! Woot! Bro and hubby will move the furniture tomorrow morning, while the kid and I will finish up the small stuff. I can't wait to be DONE!!! Then there will be much hanging out by the pool (our current apt complex has a lovely pool and deck--gotta use it while we still have access).

Weezle, here's what I did -
Put 1 1/2 cups Fiber One, 2 Tbsp. Splenda, and about 1/4 cup melted Smart Balance in food processor and process until it looks like finely crushed crumbs. Pat it gently into a 12 x 9 pan and refrigerate.
Beat 4 blocks of Nuefchatel cream cheese with about 1/2 cup of Splenda, stir in a bag of thawed and drained mixed berries, and gently fold in an 8 oz. tub of Cool Whip Lite. Spread over crumbs and refrigerate several hours.
It's a recipe from Kraft Foods, but I just substituted a few things to make it a Beachy recipe. Everybody liked it, but Jake and Dustin said it would be even better served frozen.
:welcome3: City Girl! Have fun getting all settled into your new place!

Good Day everybody! I have a busy day today, but a few minutes to post while my 1st cup of coffee brews. I had a few friends over for dinner and a movie. It was fun. I made meatloaf and green beans & salad w/ sf black cherry jello for dessert...Watched a movie called "Little Voice". It was a nice way to end my weekend. Now my week begins...
BTW, Cottage that recipe sounds divine! Too bad no berries here...or cool whip :(.

Nite nite chicks, back in the country from the big city and my dogs are barking. We did Air & Space museum today - fun, but lots of others there. We ended up exhausted at a chinese buffet at 8:00 for dinner. I did okay, but not totally on plan, mostly ate veggies, but probably too much fat, definitely too much salt, and ate a couple of teriyaki chicken sticks that probably had honey in them. Even so, I'm still way under for calories today, so I had a sf fudgesicle just now. I am so glad I'm not weighing in tomorrow, because after all the salt, I'm sure I'll have lots of water weight. Hopefully it'll all be flushed through by Sat. Sleep tight everyone. Good morning Indigal and Kara.
