Hi Everybody

Lily .....what, you didn't have enough to do, now jury duty too. Hope you don't have to go in.

I went to WW today, and didn't have to give them any of my Hawaii money. :) I lost 2.2# this week. I weighed 151.4. YIPPEE

Maria hi there. I haven't seen you here for a day or two. Is all going well with you and DH?

Good work, Slavika!!:D
Thanks for the welcome, Lily. It's good to read about how well you've done.
Yum Yum, I was reading some about where you live, and am not sure if I've ever been there. Indiana is a great place to live. ...... Lots to do, pleasant scenery and VERY nice people:).
Slavika, I read somewhere you gave a recipe for punch? What kind? I'd be interested to know what it is.
Right now...I am having trouble knowing who is who..so forgive me until I can get back into this some. I'm NOT avoiding others comments...just can't remember anymore..LOL
Everyone calls me pc...it's easier the type:)
Will check in again.

Slavika: WTG! Not losing any of that Hawaii money! You had a great loss! I had a good one this week to. I tried the Wendie plan cuz my leader has been talking about it and it seemed to work to get me under my personnel goal.

PC: Not to worry you will get the hang of every thing again. What have you been up to? Still working alot?

Have a great night all!

Way to to Slavika on not losing Hawaii money. Have you given you know who you know what yet? We are all enquiring minds and want to know what it is. Off to another day in the mailroom. Can't believe all the stuff going out this week. They have left their mailing till the last minute and can't believe that it might not make it for Christmas especially the lady who sending something to Australia. Have a good day,

Slavika - Pat yourself on the back. Losing weight during this season is such a great accomplishment! And being within sight of your goal has to be a great Christmas present!

Lily - can you refresh us on the Wendie's plan? I was going to do it once and then just didn't. But I think it might get some of us off center.

We have our office reception tomorrow. The food will be breakfast--my favorite meal. I have to make sure I don't taste even one thing or I am a goner.

More sunshine today! Hooray! We have been so wet here it isn't funny! So depressing to sit inside and wait for the rain to stop.

What is the Wendies plan? I just log all the food I eat and try to stay at 1200 calories or less. What do the rest of you do? I know some of you are on WW. Anyone else following a special plan?

Coming down to the wire with Christmas. I took the turkey out to defrost yesterday, and made low fat Oatmeal Raisen cookies.

Things I am grateful for today, top five:

1. Sunshine

2. Health

3. Friends

4. Warm snuggly house filled with love

5. My animals

Hi :o
I am back.....I have been having a problem getting on this site.....but thanks to Slavika and Trudy :) they figured it out.
I haven't even been able to read the posts so I am totally out to lunch.
My family is doing much better than the last time I posted.
I am also improving.
I am just so happy to be able to post here and chat with you girls.
Is everyone ready for the holidays?
The only thing I did this year is decorate and buy and make some gifts.
So I can say I am ready.
We won't be entertaining so there isn't that much to do.
Hope to catch up on some of the posts soon.

Hi ladies, sure have enjoyed reading all the posts and the poems. I have been quite busy and really so tired when the day was done I just didn't feel up to posting. The weather is a bit cooler and drier today, the sun is shining, and I do feel better. It has been so damp I really had problems with it. I got all my crafts done, presents are wrapped, baking finished, did some heavy duty cleaning and I guess I am ready for the holidays. I didn't bake as much or buy as much this year. We give presents to our DD and SIL all year round so I didn't drive myself nuts looking for more at Christmas, like I would usually do. We are just giving them a few things each. For the Granddog we bought a little bear that plays the Macarana when the tummy is pressed, and in her case when she chomps down on it. Have a back-up present too, a little white cat that meows when pressed. The back-up is just in case she destroys the bear before the day is done .
Peggy I guess you have been in suspense long enough. Our friend Slavika made me a beautiful wreath that is hanging on my front door. :) It is a grape vine with a Santa, wearing a long red coat that is trimmed in "fur", bird nests on poles, little birds, a Christmas tree, and stars, all carved out of wood and hand painted by the "Master Crafter". I think she might have cut down the tree, planed the wood and cut it out by hand as well  She did such a lovely job. She also made other wreaths, and hanging placques. I saw one yesterday that was a reindeer. She is so talented, don't you let her tell you any different.
Dee what a nice surprise to find you here today. We are all so happy you and your family are doing so well now. You all went through such a rough time.
I have to tell you gals that Dee is a wonderful crafter too. She decorated her home so beautifully. She has such wonderful ideas in that beautiful head. :) She gave me a little treasure that is unwrapped under my tree. Can't wait to open it.
Hi PC Nice that you have come back to us.
Lily You have to teach me how to post web addresses the way you do. I always have trouble with that. I think you told me how once before, but alas ... it is gone!
Maria Yum I like your grateful list. I keep a Simple Abundance Journal where I just like to put down positive things about my day. No matter what, something nice always happens and that is what we all should focus on.
Glenda with the determination you are showing, you probably handled the breakfast well. You have a lovely family :)
Ah, Slavika..So good to see you have a free-be yesterday. You have really been so dedicated. GOOD FOR YOU!

Talk to you all later...

Trudy the wreath sounds darling. I knew it would be something special. That is a lot of work to make something like that. Dee welcome back. I am happy that things are good for you now. It sounds like you are all ready for the holidays. We are possibly getting some snow Sunday eve or so the weatherman says. But what do they know. At least it is not rain. I have seen enough of that for a while. Had a woman come in the mailroom today and spend $63.00 to overnite some cookies to a television personality to use on his show Friday nite. I can't imagine doing that. She said she was his agent or something. I think she is nuts. I hope that they make it o.k. since I was the one to pack them. Have to run, have a nice night.

Peggy Thank-you for welcoming me back. It is nice to be here again.
Boy those were expensive cookies! But if you think how much I payed to ww my cookies were probably more expensive.lol:smug:

Hi Glenda ! It is great to here from you. You still remember me? Yes it sure has been some year. Actually in febuary it will be 2 years. But we are on the mend. Hopefully just a little while longer and we can put this all in the past.

Trudy thank-you for the hog wash on my talent. I really don't have talent it is just a very vivid imagination! We sure enjoyed the sun today didn't we?

Lily have you tried the Wendy plan? I think that it is a good idea to mix up your points a bit and eat at the low end and the high end sometimes.

Today I openned a gift from one of the tea time girls from Slavika's. My dog was sniffing it so I thought I better open it in case it was food and heaven forbid it spoil before christmas! Well it was a beautiful tin with a beaded christmas tree ornament and some short bread cookies. Ohh were they yummy~~I had three that I didn't count on having so I had to lighten up supper. Oh boy things I do to myself!

Well I hope that you all have a good night.

Dee: I did the Wendie paln last week and it seemed to work really well. I have always varied my points before but just from low to mid. This you use a different level of points each day. When I was losing it was getting hard to stick to 18 sometimes. So when I need to lose again I will try it this way again. Wasnt hard at all.

PC: I sent you a private message to where the recipes are. Its hard to resist the desserts. This time of year is always hard.

G'day all,

I have been very busy with having son and partner here, they left this morning for a cycling trip around Tasmania. I took them to the airport very early this morning.
Last night we had our family Christmas dinner, it was lovely having both children and partners in the same city. We had a beautiful dinner at a rather posh restaurant, it was really special.

DH had his plaster cast off today and now has some eleborate boot on which he has to wear for 6 weeks, the wedding is in 5 weeks so we are hoping that he may be able to walk our daughter down the aisle without this very attractive boot;) .

Lots of posts to read, all good to read.:)

Dee I think when I started posting here you only posted a few more times, nice to see you back.

Trudy your wreath sound lovely, all you ladies are very talented with all the crafts you do.

Maria Yum I do a combination of all sorts:D but basically stick to WW but also have an eye for the calories and I try not to go over 1400, the other thing I do is cut just about all fat out of my diet. I am so used to having toast/sandwiches without butter etc that it doesn't bother me one bit. When I fry again I try to use no fat or a little olive oil. I have had a look at Wendie's plan and I more or less do that especially at this time of the year.

Slavika Good for you with your weight loss, I am happy to report that whilst my scales are still broken, my clothes are looser so I must be doing OK.

PC Hello, nice to see you here!

Hi also to everyone else I haven't mentioned, hope you are all organised for Christmas and are looking forward to this time of the year.

As a family we decided on no gifts this year because we are spread all over the place. DH and I decided to sponsor a child and now sponsor a little boy in Vietnam, amazingly enough unbeknowns to any of us, son and partner have done the same and so has our daughter and partner!!!!! Our son has a little boy in Zambia and our daughter a little boy in Zaire. We just couldn't get over this amazing coincidence. We have all discussed before that for so little so much can be achieved but none of us has ever done anything about it until this Christmas!

It has been very warm here though a coolish Christmas is the forecast. I am not really that fussed but prefer it not to be really hot.

Cheers
Maria

PC MOM:dizzy: Boy are you right, Dinners out will kill you if you aren't careful! I have tried to be really careful about what I am eating, and so far, all I have been able to do is maintain my weight, no losses. But thats about over. Only one more dinner to go to.

Deelite Hi, I am Maria Yum, thats what everyone has ended up calling me, glad to meet you! I am a newbie! And I have a lot of weight to lose, so I need lots of support which these kind women are giving me:rolleyes:

MARIA, I eat very little fat too, or try. I have been following the TFactor diet(when I am good) and it is a low fat one. And I was journaling, which I think I better get back to. I will be glad when the junk food season here is over! I am doing ok, but could do better!:o

Good Morning Ladies
I hope that the sun is shining for you today.
It is bright and sunny out here.
A little on the cold side but I would rather have that then a grey sky.
This morning I have to go see the specialist.
He is leaving the country to practice in India or some place like that in January.:(
Tonight we our visiting friends that live on a huterite colony.
It is a very intresting place.
Like a glance at the past. No tv....no pc's....no radio except in their trucks....home cooking all the time....lots of kids.....animals...and machinery.
They are always intrested in city life and the news of the world. I really find them intresting and they find us intresting.

Maria
I remember you because you lead such an intresting life half way across the world from me. I am glad that I can keep in touch .Maria Yum

Guys, I just had to boast a little! I went through our office reception with little quiches, biscuits, wrapped smokies, and didn't eat any of it. I just concentrated on talking to the people.
Maria - congratulations for raising such nice children who came up with the idea of supporting a needy child. It is always fun to see our children do something totally unselfish and kind. Maybe your husband will be able to walk in regular shoes just for the wedding.

Slavika - okay. Remember the tree skirts? I never got mine and now I get to add the wreath. I haven't received mine yet, but I do understand the mail is a bit slow. I bet it is pretty. Trudy sure was delighted with it.

G'day all,

Another fairly warm day here.
This morning I decided to drive dh into work, leave the car there and then walk back to our apartment (about a 50 minute walk) and then this afternoon I either walk back again or catch a tram. Driving in a big city is such a nightmare:mad: that I thought this is good to do for more reasons than one:D
Walking back this morning through the parks there were marquees set up everywhere with office people having their christmas parties, they all looked like having a good time.

Dee I have never heard of 'a huterite colony', are they similar to the Amish Communities you have in America? It certainly does sound an interesting life they lead.

Glenda well done on concentrating on the talking rather than the eating;)
We are all hoping dh will at least be able to wear a suit. At the moment with this boot he wouldn't be able to get trousers on. We have to go to a very formal wedding here in Melbourne on January 5th, I am not sure what we are going to do. I really do not want to cut off one leg of a pair of good trousers. Seeing it is summer and likely to be warm, I might get a new pair of dressy sort of shorts that he could wear with a shirt and tie:o

Maria Yum I forgot to mention that but journaling is definetly the key. Every now and then I think I know it all and there is no need to journal and I won't journal for a few weeks. I start off ok but gradually more food creeps in the day than I need and so I go back to journaling again.

Have a great day all
Cheers

There was hoar frost in the air today, the trees are all frosted and it looks like little diamonds in the air, the glorious sun was out again today. I just  it when it is like this - no wind.
Maria you are so right about Journaling. I write in the journal every day, good and bad. This might be part of the reason that I have been at or under goal since March. I made up journals with the dates on them to take me through Jan 8 when we go back to the meetings. There is no excuse for me not to keep track and be accountable. Today I am at 29 points already, so I know that eating anything else is a :nono: Your DH is doing well since his surgery. My Hubby would have been happier not to drag that cast around as long as he did. Nice of you to drive him and the walking is good for you too.
Glenda Good for you... makes you feel in control knowing you avoided all temptations.
Lily Thanks for the info.. I printed it out and now have to find some address I want to share so I can try it out. :)
Dee We went to a Huterite Colony in Sask. years ago, and I was amazed at how simple their lives are. How did you get to be friends, Huterites don't usually socialize with out-siders. I think they are similar to the Amish.
Maria Yum what is the TFactor Diet? I don't think I know that one.
PC This time of year is so hard - so many dinners out and lots of rich desserts just waiting for us  I guess the best way is to pick and choose and learn to say no to some things.
Peggy at this time of the year I would rather have snow than rain too. The dampness makes me ache :(
I can't imagine spending that much money to send cookies, but I guess the recipient will be happy.
Hi Slavika.. What have you been up to today?

Did anyone make the recipe of CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIES from the WW web site? They were the ones that were from a Devil's Food Cake mix. I made them on Mon. for the WW party on Tue and had 2 tonight, they are still chewy in the center... very good. They were 2 points each for a very large cookie. I do love my chocolate.

Talk to you all later...

Hi everybody
I had a great day out with my friend yesterday for lunch/shopping. I got home around 3:00 and at 3:30 I picked up another friend and we went to a mutual friend's condo for an early "all girl's dinner". She lives in a lovely condo on the river and has such beautiful things. Lily you would just love some of the glass ware she has collected over the years. She is from Germany, and some of her pieces are from there, but she has also travelled quite a bit and brought back some lovely things from her journeys. She prepared a very simple but delicious meal. Home made turkey soup, with crusty rolls and tiny bagels, big chunks of different cheeses, and a huge salad with lots of feta cheese in it. For dessert, she served a herbal tea and a really nice poppy seed slice. We all had a great time. :)
Today, I made two "Shmoo Cakes" for Christmas Eve, and put them in the freezer. I also made up a double batch of bran muffins some for DH and some for my DIL, and a holiday mixture of popcorn/cereal/dates/raisins. My DIL dropped off my poor little grandson here this afternoon (she had lunch duty at the school) and he has "5th disease". My DIL had him at the doctor's yesterday, and she explained to me that there are now 9 different strains of Measles and my grandson has the "5th disease". I gave him a bath with "baking soda" to help with the itch. He thought it was funny, as I sprinkled him with it in the tub, but he felt better. I had a really busy day, and I'm tired. Glenda good for you for handling the office reception so well. You'll be happy when Christmas is over and done with and you haven't gained a whole bunch of weight. Well done! :)
I have to tell you gals, that even I was impressed with the wreath I gave Trudy after reading her discription of it. LOL :D You gals must remember she is a very dear friend, and friends do that.
Maria what a nice thing you and your family are doing for Christmas this year. You must be proud of your kids too. That's really nice. :) Dee it sure is nice seeing you on this board again. Our other tea time friend picked up her gift from you at my place today. She hurt her toe again. :(
Maria Yum I agree this is a difficult time to try and lose weight, but at least if we can maintain and not gain over the holidays that would be great.

I just finished making this "dish" Ukrainian people serve on Christmas Eve. It's called Kutia. Kutia is the ritual first dish of the twelve course Christmas Eve Supper. The wheat represents the staff of life. The honey represents the spirit of Christ. You cook wheat in water for about 4 or 5 hours. Then you add poppy seeds to it and sweeten it with honey. It is as a rule served cold. Some gals like to add raisins/walnuts to it too. I guess it sort of resembles a cooked breakfast cereal.
I enjoyed reading all the posts, you gals are all so busy. :)
Night.

G'day all,

Back again before I set out for my next walk. I have to say it is making a big difference to my weight loss endeavors.:)
My only problem is some horrendous blisters on my heels. I have been using the latest (at least it is to me;) ) blister block bandaids. They are like a second skin and they are quite good.

Trudy I loved the way you described your weather, it sounds just lovely. It just goes to show even though there are some years since your dh had the same injury, the healing time seems to be still the same, a very long time:mad:

Slavika I wasn't aware there were 9 different types of measles .
I am not surprised you say you are tired, you always seem to be on the go doing something.:dizzy:
You often talk of 'condos', what are they exactly.:?: I am assuming they are like an apartment in an apartment building but I guess if that is what they are why not call them 'apartments':D
I hope you can enlighten me :^:

I am off again on my walk!
Cheers

Maria my Hubby and I are thinking of purchasing a Condominium. They can be in a high rise building with underground heated parking, or adjoining bungalos with double attached garages and small lots. The thing is that you own them, as you do your own home. You pay taxes on them, and any repairs needed are up to you. The thing that gets my DH is the monthly Condo Fee... could be $150.00/per month. That is for keeping the building, or in the case of the bungalo, the streets and driveways clear of snow, and the grass cut and fertilized during the summer. The high rise has a common room that is used for anyone wanting to host a large party. The bungalo's have basements that can be finished. Both places will have balconys. My DH would like to do a bit of grass cutting and garden work on his own. He would even like to clear some snow, as long as it isn't after a blizzard. We just can decide whether to move into one or do some re-decorating here. Big decisions.

Maria I know exactly what you are saying. If I stop journaling, I lost control of the diet. I think it helps to keep you focused, for one thing, and then you are certainly aware of what is going into your mouth:s: Some people use on line journals, but I prefer a nice spiral notebook with a picture of me FAT on the front. :nono: That is true inspiration.

Trudy, the T-Factor diet is basically a low fat diet. Also known as One Meal at a Time. You really only count fat grams, not calories at all. And you keep them between 20 and 40 grams every day. You do lose. I have adapted it a little in that I eat less than 20 grams, more like 10 to 15, and I have also been counting calories and keeping them below 1200.

I don't think the diet plan matters much as long as you follow a sensible plan. I just know this works for me, and it is something I can live with. I can live low fat, and not think of myself as deprived.

Have a good day all!

Girls, today is the last day I will be at work until next year, actually January 2. So, I will be missing you. I just wanted to write a little something that has been on my mind for awhile. I want to thank you all so much for letting me into your lives this year. You all mean so much to me. I just posted to my ovarian cancer site that we cancer patients know how dear each moment is and so yearn for a cure for all cancer, which has become the plague of humanity, but I do believe that knowing you and reading about your lives, you all also know the value of the moment. This country has been through such an earth-shattering torment that it would be easy to have a melancholy Christmas this year, but I hope we all celebrate with great joy and thanksgiving, so that the evil ones do not win anything but our contempt and disgust. Sorry if this was a "downer", but I just wanted to tell you how much you mean to me. Stay safe and "sane." (well, as sane as you usually are anyway. I give a compliment and then take it away.)

Glenda: Good for you! You did great at your office party. You have a Merry Christmas! And a happy and safe New year. See you next year!

Trudy: Im like you I even Journal when Im bad. Its an eye opener sometimes. I didnt see that recipe. Will have to look for it.

Slavika: I want to go to your friends house. Sounds like she has some nice pieces. Sounds like you have been cooking up a storm! I start tomorrow.

Maria/Yum: I agree it doesnt matter what program you use to lose weight. Its what works for you. I never heard of the TFactor before either, but it sounds interesting and like a sensible one.

Well I had a easy Jury Duty, I had to go in yesterday and that was it! Im free! Use to be you sat down at the court house all week whether they needed you or not. Like this way much better!

Have a great day all!

My sister lives in one. Hers is like a town house. She has 3 levels. They have a clubhouse and a pool area. But she doesn't have a garage just a carport. I finished my mailroom job today. No more work till next December. Yea! Maria Yum I follow a diet on the internet and mix it with WW. It works for me. They have a great support groups. Well the dogs want out again. Lucky goes home Sunday. I just have time to get rid of him and clean before my company comes. Have a nice weekend and holiday in case I don't get back.

Hi everyone,

My name is Ash and I am new here. I see by your posts that you have someone here from Australia well, guess what, I am too. I am in the older age bracket.

You seem like a very fun loving bunch of people that support each other and I wondered if I may join your group.

Regards to all.

Ash.:) :) :) :)

I thought I would pop in and let you know how my visit went at the colony. My friend served fresh fruit tea which she made herself
from dried raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, apples, and rose hip. It was a very sweet flavor. Then she served us a spice cake which was topped with a coconut icing~~very moist. We talked about their traditions for christmas. Their children heard of santa but they do not participate in this custom. Their gifts are openned christmas eve after church. They have a big lunch on christmas which the main course is duck. They have a very simple christmas~~~~just a few gifts,no tree or decoratios. Family gathering is the focus of their holiday. We left with armfuls of goodies. They make these special pickles that we just love....garden pickles...mmm They have pickled red and green peppers with caulilour, onion and carrots. She also gave us a jar of sliced pickles for sandwiches or hamburgers. A jar of fruit tea and a spiced cake. We were 2 days to early to get a smoked turkey. They live off of the land and sew all of their cloths, make their own soap. They are not allowed to use birth control so there are many children per family. All money that they make goes to the colony to buy supplies for everyone. They are all equal. We became friends with them through my dh work. They do some sheet metal work for them.
Glenda thank you for your thoughts. We need to cherish each day with our loved ones.
Maria I like what your family is doing for christmas....that is a very special gift.
Lily I am sure you must be glad jury duty is over. It is such a busy time of year to have to do that.
Slavika I am so sorry to hear that you gs has the measles....poor thing I hope that he will be better for christmas. Your Shmoo cakes sound delicious....mmmm
Trudy You made your chocolate chunk cookies look so good. That is a really good recipe.
Have a good week-end everyone!

HI ASH So glad you found us here!:D These kind ladies have taken me in and treated me like one of their own!:smug:

They are full of support so I am sure they will make you welcome too. We can learn together since I am a newbie here too.

If you are like me you are hanging in through Christmas. Some of these ladies have even managed to lose weight through the holidays which demands great respect!

Glad you are here!
