Default Missing my Sunday Roast

When I first got to the UK, I wasnt dieting, and I relished every sunday with my BF's family. His mum makes the best sunday roasts in the world with Chicken, Turkey, or Pork, mashed potaoes, roast potatos, apple stuffing, a yorkshire pudding and vegetables.

I caught myself having a "Diet Roast Lunch" at work last week. I'd brought along some Chicken & Vegetable Cup a Soup, and two thawed yorkshire puddings for lunch. Now I'm hooked, and I'm sourcing out different ways to feed my Sunday Roast cravings!

Do any of you ever miss having the big roasts anymore? Do you have substitutes for some of the recipes used at a roast?

A roast dinner is probably really healthy if you take the lean meat and load up on veggies, have say one yorkshire pud, a couple of roast potatoes and spoon of mash. Don't see any harm in that at all. In fact my favourite healthy meal is a meat and 2 veg meal!

I enjoy my Sunday roast, not too many roast potatoes and loads of veg. The only thing I don't have now is stuffing.

Well I am vegetarian so ...I do miss roast potatoes and so look forward to Christmas witht he family when I do get them! I also love yorkshire puds/batter pudding! I used to do a version of toad in the hole for one - a Delia recipe where you put it in a fry pan and then grill it. Yum!

I don't really cook now much - apart from using a microwave that is but 2Frus is right to say lean meat - loadup on veg and a few roast tatties and a yorkie. Nothing wrong with that once a week. In fact you can make it your treat as long as you cut down on other treats. It is a perfectly good meal, so enjoy!
