Weight Watchers - On WW but borrowing from other diets?

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well. I'm back from a WW breakdown; a 5lb weight gain, but not all lost is back, so I'm back....with a vengence! We had a heat wave, I got sick, I'm stressed as **** looking for a new job, depression hit hard again....Yes all true and all effected my dedication to losing weight, but I won't be using these an excuses anymore!

ANYWAY....the reason for my post. I was curious if anyone has taken a few tips or guidelines from OTHER diets and implemented them into your WW plan?
For instance, I think a reason my weight-loss slowed for a bit is because although in the beginning I held back eating simple-grains (white breads, rice, pasta, croutons) I slipped back into the bread and cracker habit. I'm wondering this time around if I should just give it all up, to see what happens, sorta like taking a page from South Beach (but not as severe as Atkins). Also, since fresh is best and usually low in points, I was thinking of adding a little rawness into my life, well, a lot more rawness and trying to have a meal or two, several times a week, of nothing cooked. I figure these little changes can not only aid in my weight loss but help me get the right nutrition.

Has anyone done this? What was your experience? I wonder, if any fellow WW's severly limit or has given up any foods or drinks or ingridients?

Thanks for any input!

I too am on WW but I eat far less breads, cereals, etc. and far more protein than what I think is the norm. I find more lean protein keeps you satisfied longer and also helps if you are doing weight training.

I am not on WW but am doing South Beach with much success. Settie is right in the proteins do satisfy you longer. Not sure how familar you are with SB but you are correct in giving up the "bad carbs" your white breads, pastas, potatos, etc which tend to trigger your "cravings/hunger pangs". SB, as should any "diet" is a way of eating. I think a truly sucessful "diet" is a combination of things that work for YOU and that you are comfortable with for life.

Have I helped at all or made any sense? Should you have any questions regarding SB in general feel free to ask away, or drop on over the the beach form. Very rarely do we kick sand, and we always have extra towels, oh and the chicks are great and give great advice!

Amberoo - I did a South Beach-style WW and it worked pretty well. I didn"t keep it up for but the lasting results were no more carb cravings and the loss of my dill pickle chip fixation along with getting used to eating less carbs and eating better ones when I do eat them. :)

I did South Beach and Weight Watcher together about two years ago. I basically ate all the foods SB allowed while keeping under my WW points. I did lose weight doing it but now I just do WW since for me SB was too difficult for my lifestyle. It can work though, it's just a lot to keep track of :)

Now I do WW plus drink like 6 glasses of green tea a day so it's sort of combining again.

I am actually combining Core with some of the concepts from SBD. Core is very, very close to SBD.

The 2 tweaks I do are:

1) 2% cheese vs fat free cheese
2) low fat low sugar salad dressings vs fat free salad dressing
