Is there a difference? I am thinking about buying a steamer. I have one, but don't really like it, cuz its designed more for rice. Thanks! :)

Plus, IMHO, boiled veggies come out mushie. I think it's a bit harder to control how cooked they become when you boil them. elmuyloco5 07-11-2007, 08:09 PM X Pita09 07-11-2007, 08:40 PM I either steam or roast my veggies. Boiling makes things mushy and we hate that. I don't own a real steamer and just use a big pan with a little water in the bottom of it, put the veggies in a metal colander, pop a lid on it and steam away. CLCSC145 07-11-2007, 09:58 PM I nuke them. I put them in a bowl, put in a few tablespoons of water, cover with plastic wrap and microwave for a few minutes. They steam and it's quick and mess free! Plus it doesn't heat up the kitchen... NickiB68 07-11-2007, 10:40 PM I'm with CC....use my microwave. I am using more frozen than fresh veggies in the MW right now. I do have a steamer, but it seems to take longer. One good thing about the steamer, I love the way baby carrots taste when they are steamed! iminhere 07-12-2007, 03:10 AM I like mine roasted or stir fried...I DO nuke them sometimes.... the only thing I boil is beans, I think...I boil lime beans ....and I blanche things sometimes just to get them ready to stirfry... vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
