Smile Trying to conceive while on SB

Has anyone tried to conceive while on the SB diet? I have read many different opinions about dieting while trying to conceive. My DH and I have been trying since we miscarried in February. I have only been on the beach since Memorial Day and was hoping to lose some weight and be in a better place physically when we got pregnant. I was just curious if anyone else has done this and would love your thoughts.

Cheers!
Sheila

Sheila, I don't think South Beach is as much a diet as a lifestyle change. You should be eating this way for the rest of your life, so if you never think of conceiving while you're on this "diet" then you'll never conceive!

You will have the easiest and healthiest pregnancy if your body is taken care of, so it's up to you when you feel you're ready for that. If you blood sugar levels are under control, you'll be less at risk for gestational diabetes and if you blood pressure is under control, you'll be less at risk for pregnancy induced hypertension. I'm sure there are a host of other issues you could avoid by starting out with a healthy you.

And being in an eating-healthily mindset while you're pregnant is a great thing! It was always easiest for me to eat healthily while I was pregnant because I felt accountable to the babe growing inside! Have you started prenatals? Make sure your iron levels are up now.

Good luck! I'm truly sorry to hear about your miscarriage. That is devastating!
