Hello and good morning!

It was a good day in Korea! How is yours shaping up?

The kids and I had Korean class today. We learned how to strike a deal with storekeepers! Yea! That's a skill we'll be able to use in the next couple months for sure. Then we hit the library and came back home for lunch and a little bit of schoolwork before we had to head BACK to base for Connor's violin lesson. Tom met us there and "relieved" me so I could go to the gym. I ran five miles in a little less than 48 minutes, then walked for about seven minutes, and then did some ab exercises on the exercise ball before stretching. I came out of the gym to find it raining. Poo. Luckily, it didn't last for more than a couple minutes, AND it masked the fact that I had sweated through my shirt in spots. GROSS!!!

I stayed on plan all day today. One grain - Nessa's oatmeal bar for breakfast (with veggie sausage links). I had a cheese stick for morning snack and the apricot, goat (feta) cheese, and pistachio salad for lunch with some cherries. Afternoon snack was about a half cup of plain yogurt mixed with some fresh strawberries and a bit of banana and then we had the black beans and tomatoes with lime tofu for dinner. YUM!

The rain cooled it down enough that we could turn off the air conditioning. It's nice to have the windows open - hasn't happened in a couple weeks.

Gotta get the kids off to bed. Tom's bathing them now. I'll check in later, I'm sure!

:rain: :rain: :rain: Can you smell wet dog? This is getting pretty ridiculous. :(

I'm off to the gym and then will finish a poster for the Fair. Two male cousins are coming later this afternoon and will probably be here for dinner. Luckily I have a chicken dish in the freezer and frozen peaches to throw together a pie. Otherwise I'll hear, "Grandma and Aunt Lillian always had pie! You aren't following the tradition!" Never buy your grand parent's house.

Morning, everyone! Sorry about that short opening greeting, something weird is going on with my laptop, and I'm trying to figure it out. ???

It's going to be close to 100* here today,! A good day to find something to do indoors. The girls have gymnastics camp all this week from 1 - 4, so at least they'll be inside for that.

We had a pretty good weekend, but very hectic. Monica and Eric finally got here yesterday afternoon to pick up Carley. It was fun having her for the week, but very exhausting! She's a little girl who's constantly on the go, and kept her grandmom & grandpop very busy trying to keep up with her. :)

I'm going to run over to Curves for a good workout, since I wasn't able to get there at all last week. I'll try to check back in here later, but I'm not sure what my schedule is going to be today.

Let's try to get this week off to a great start!

Have a nice visit with the cousins, Ruth! I'm sure your pie will be just as good as Grandma's!!!

Good Morning all,
We seem to be settling in nicely with the niece here. I am going to shift my usual work hours to 6 am - 3 pm for the week, so I can do some things with her after work. Wait, doesn't that mean I should be working now??? I think I'll get us tickets to see Camelot at Wolftrap Wednesday, Harry Potter for sure on Thursday, maybe another hike and the pool the other days. My daughter and nieces here have volunteered to entertain her also when they aren't working, and I think she really likes being with the young folk (where's my cane?). Today, I think DD will take her out for lunch and a pedicure.

Today the horrible heat begins here. I am prepared to sweat.
DS had some wierd stomach virus over the weekend, feeling a little queasy myself and waiting to see if it hits anyone else. Hope my stomach is just the power of suggestion. It'll be hard to eat those veggies today, I want some ginger ale and saltines like my mom used to give me.
Kara, yesterday I had a salad for lunch with sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and bleu cheese and it was really good. I'm going to get some more dried fruit in and keep making those, it certainly helps the salad go down. Once a sugar addict, always a sugar addict I guess. I want to make your apricot salad recipe next.
Not much else going on here, waiting to hear from DH, hope he gets his butt home soon!

Good morning chicks, the sun is shinning here so no wet dog smell. Yippee, summer has not been the best so far, but today is looking pretty good might even be able to take the kids to the beach this afternoon. :carrot:.

Cottage- thanks for starting us up, have a good work out at Curves. 100 wow I don't think we have gotten over 85 yet this summer. I don't mind the heat. Have a great day.

Kara- You days always sound busy, but you mange to squeeze exercise time in. I really need to work on that. Have a good night sleep.

Ruth- Morning, hope you have a nice visit with your cousins, I have never had peach pie.

Me- I am doing well with my eating and my sticky is true again. I am feeling better than I have in awhile. Well gotta to dash my baby just arrived, I will pop back in later.

Hi cottage and Ruth, you showed up while I was posting! Have a great day relaxing, cottage. Ruth, I will take your advice! Littlechick, if you haven't ever had a peach pie, don't start now. They are too wonderful! Hope you all have a lovely and COOL day.

Ooooh, dried cranberries would be so yummy! I think I used apples and dried cranberries and walnuts once. In fact, I do believe that is what I will have for lunch tomorrow. Thanks, Schmoodle!

LC, I stay busy to keep myself out of trouble. My grandmother always says I don't let any grass grow under my feet!

Smoodle, Uh, oh! I hope you don't end up with that virus, too! Ginger ale and saltines is the same thing I always want when I'm under the weather, too. Mom always fed us that when we were kids, too. Your plans sound great, especially "Camelot" at Wolftrack! Have fun!

Kara, All that exercise you're getting in is putting me to shame! I have to get back on track this week, now that life is getting back to normal again! I'm making that goat cheese, pistachio salad today, can't wait!

Ruth, that's a shame it's raining again. My DD was in Delta last Thursday! I'll have to tell you all about it, but she and Eric ate at the "famous" Longhorn!

Ok, I really have to go if I'm going to make it to Curves!

Just a quick run-by fruiting!

Have to get in the shower and start the work week again! AAAGHHHH! WHYYYY????? Ok, enough drama.

So anyhoo, lost 2 lbs last week! :carrot: YAY! Ummm that's really all the news I have since last night. Slept fairly well. DH is off today. He sucks.

Well, I'd better get in the shower. Hope the rain stops everywhere else! No wet dogs! ;) Have a great day! May pop in later!

Yea, Lisa! Dancing carrot, indeed!

Enjoy the salad, Cottage! I had it for lunch today. Delish! Connor asked me why I put all "that stuff" on it (vinegar). You should have seen his face! He doesn't care for balsalmic vinegar - crazy boy! I laughed and told him *I* like it!

Morning, Kiko! Two days until you test!!! Had you forgotten? Sorry to bring it up, but I'm about as on pins and needles as you are! My two girls were not planned, so I completely understand what you're going through. I found out I was pregnant with Avery when Tom was away at a 6-week training school. When I told him, he said, "This one better come out looking like me or you've got some explaining to do!" which was funny, because Connor and Kadyn look *exactly* like him and Avery definitely resembles me. hehehe

I'm off to bed. Have a great day, all!

Just a run by, ladies, more later but SCHMOODLE do you live near Wolftrap? My best girlfriend lived just down the road from there for a summer and so we went there once and I looooove it. And then I had to stinking move to Tennessee. ;)

Hey, girls, I'm downloading pictures from my camera into my computer, and just can't resist sharing this shot of Carley with you all. She was "helping" me make chocolate covered strawberries yesterday, and had to sample the "fruits of her labor". :D

OMG..is she just adorable or what??? Want to kiss those choclatey cheeks!! (and not to just get the chocolate!)..she is just precious! Makes me miss my little girl!

Nothing happening here today...just busy working and have to go to the grocery store in a bit. My husband is working very strange hours for the next couple of weeks, so have to adjust our eating schedule to accomodate that..

Cottage - that picture is too cute! Look at those eyes!! We all need to smear chocolate around our faces more often - kids know how to really enjoy it! :D

Up early this morning to head to the physical therapist for my back. I've been doing stretches he gave me to do all weekend. Cross your fingers for me that his treatments will finally do the trick.

I have some yummy tabouleh, hummus and vegetables packed for lunch today. They're leftovers from dinner last night at pita jungle. There is nothing quite like homemade hummus - storebought is not even close. I can't wait for lunchtime.

Have a great day all!

Good Morning All!

The heat is on! Another hot & humid one today in Illinois. I'm working nights this week, DH is on days so the house is quiet. Just the crazy dog who can't decide if she wants to be in or out....or just make me get up and open the door every 5 minutes.

Lots to do before the long drive to work, so I'd better scoot. Have a great day everyone!

Okay, back with some time to post. :) I had to run a girlfriend's daughter to summer school in addition to feeding the crew. DH is home today, so it is wonderful to have an extra set of hands.

Cottage She is gorgeous!! I am so partial to those cute little girlies. :)

Weezle Yeah for you on the 2 lb loss. :) How was the BBQ last night?

Kara Have not forgotten at all. I actually took a test yesterday and it was negative. Now, keep in mind that I haven't even skipped my period yet, so I don't know if it would have turned up positive if I am. My first daughter was not planned and is the absolute greatest blessing that has ever been bestowed upon us, so I know that whatever happens, happens!!

LC Awesome to get yourself back on track so quickly. :) I am taking my measurements at my mom's today, so will be adding those to your sticky. I am actually a bit nervous.......

Ruth, Schmoodle, Jessie, and Sarynit Have a great day!!!

Me- DH is off, and I am babysitting the neighbor today. We are going to head out to go swimming here is a little while. I thought we would do that this morning. I am going to pack some sandwiches and stuff, so we will have a little picnic at the pool. Then home for Meg's nap- I have some computer work to do and DH wants to go fishing, so a quiet afternoon.

Groceries are slim pickings around here for dinner, so I will need to get creative. :chef:

Afternoon chicks, lunch is over, had a healthy yummy one, staying away from the bad carbs is going good, the older kids are watching a movie and the baby is sleeping. We will be heading to the beach once his nap is over. Just need to get the dishes done.

Cottage that wee one is beautiful, when I see cute little girls it makes me want another one, although that is not going to happen but one can always dream, I hope when my girls make me a grandma ( a long time from now mind you ) that they make me little girls.

Kiko- Do you want to have another? I am not sure which way to cross my fingers for you. And I am not sure if you have to miss your period before you would get a true reading. I do know that you can have a false negitive but not a false positive. Take care and have fun at the pool.

Well off to the dishes and change into my shorts and tank to head to the beach.

Cottage, what a gorgeous girly! I don't think I could ever say no to a sweet face like that!

Weezle, missed you on weekend chat yesterday with my packing...my doxie furbaby is named "Dash" and he's a red double-dapple with crazy blue eyes! I'd love to have a house full of dachshunds, just like that phone commerical ("stampede!").

By the way, I was eating at the local Irish pub (O'Toole's) yesterday and I thought of you having your potatoes! My boyfriend plays rugby for Richmond, and O'Toole's is a sponsor so we're in there quite a bit.

Back to work for me. :D

LC I honestly have very mixed emotions about it. Most of my reasons for not wanting another child are financial. I know that so many people say, "Well, you can never afford it." But we really can't. Also the fact that I work outside of the home makes it even harder. So, the rational side of me says no, but the mom in me would love another. Doesn't really answer your question, does it?? When I went to buy a test there were several that stated that it could detect pregnancy up to five days before your missed period. We will see, I will wait until the end of the week to take another if I don't start.

We will see.......

Something wierd is going on here, I've suddenly got a real bad attitude about all this. I'm under a lot of stress right now, working full time, single parenting, and entertaining house guest. It's hot, and I suddenly have no appetite. I'm forcing myself to eat and not getting enough calories. I realize today that I'm feeling really negative about the whole SBD thing. I was thinking maybe I should stay off the forum for a few days, since I'm so sour and didn't want to spread it around. Then I had a dangerous encounter with a doughnut this morning. Is it normal to hit this wall at six weeks in? I just feel like something might give any time now. I guess I realized fat girl is still inside here, biding her time, waiting for my guard to be down, like this morning with the doughnut. Sorry for the downer.

Cottage, she is a sweetie, and she really wants me to have some of that chocolate strawberry!
Jessie, I'm not super close but it's worth the drive. I'm 40 miles west of the DC beltway in MD. My parents used to love to pack a picnic and take us up there for concerts when I was a kid. I haven't been out there in a long time.

weezle
07-09-2007, 04:48 PM
Kiko, the BBQ went well! I had my fake burger on a whole wheat bun with onions and peppers on top, some veggies, a salad, some bruschetta with Triscuits, and a slice of my WW Key Lime Pie. All-in-all, a great evening (and tons of fiber, so sayeth my gut.) I will definitely continue to pray for you with your situation.

Betty, Oscar and Sophie are dappled.... sophie has more red with dark brown and black, with a little white chin and white spot on her chest, and Oscar is mostly dark brown/black with blonde. Dash is such a cute name! Oscar and Sophie had siblings with blue eyes but my parents couldn't turn those two down, and just couldn't afford 10 of them, although I think if they could afford it, they'd adopt every weenie from here to Germany. O'Toole's sounds like a nice place, like our D'Arcy's! They always laugh at me because I order a potato entree and then a side of mashed potatoes. Oh well, it's no secret that I'm Irish! :D

Getting ready for a conference call here today. Just thought I'd drop in and see how all are doing! Gotta run! Talk soon girlies.

Getting ready to play 3 game of volleyball. There are only 2 women playing so there will be no rotating out for me tonight. Hopefully I will burn some good calories off. Afterall, I did indulge this weekend with a few bites of peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough cheese cake and bourbon walnut pie (only a few bites). I definitely enjoyed a few glasses of wine that's for sure.

I wish I had time to say hi to everyone individually, but I must run. So hi to everyone. Hope to get more time tomorrow to post.

Cheers!

Cottage, she's precious!!!

Sary, you are so right. Homemade hummus is the best! Good luck with PT!

Schmoodle STAY ON THE FORUM! You probably didn't even notice, but I had a little backslide a couple days ago, started about a week and a half ago, and when I stayed away from you all it got worse because I started rationalizing things in my brain that shouldn't have been rationalized. I think I said something like it was as if I was on top of Mt. Everest without oxygen and was losing my mind. "Oh, one little indulgence won't hurt. If one wasn't bad, then two would be fine..." You get the picture. DON'T LEAVE! We need you and you need us! It's all about accountability, and if you can't muster it within yourself right now, then lean on us!!!

Barbara, hope your gym time went well.

I woke up this morning to a three pound WOOSH! That's a pleasant way to start the day, especially since I was feeling frustrated yesterday!

07-09-2007, 09:08 PM
Schmoodle don't be embarassed, we have all been there, I was posting here for weeks and not doing the program, but it did make me watch what I was putting in my mouth. Remember that this is not a diet but a Way of Life. And this road always has ups and downs and no one understands this better than our sister chicks. We are here for each other when we get whiny, show me a woman who doesn't. Take care

weezle
07-09-2007, 09:31 PM
Oh, I NEVER whine. :lol3:

Schmoodle, the girls on here are what keeps me on track. I find that when I fall off the wagon, I fall off the boards because I feel so guilty, but as soon as I pop back on here to see how everyone's doing, I get my butt back in gear. I know I couldn't do this without the support group that are the Chicks.

Just keep at it! I think all of us have a fat girl inside that gets to us. Mine is definitely self-sabotaging, and it has a hard time saying "no." It also looks at the ideal "woman" and bums me out because I'll never look like that. But I try to focus on being healthy and all the reasons I'm really here instead of listening to the fat girl inside.

Does that make sense?

Kiko
07-09-2007, 09:47 PM
Schmoodle I so agree with both LC and Weezle- we have all been posting here for years, and all have had our time to vent when needed. The chicks on this board know much more about me than some of my close friends. It is ALL GOOD!!!!!

Did Schatzers start her new job today??

Shmoodle, I'm so sorry that you're having a rough go of it right now and trying to do it all yourself, but please don't throw in the towel. You'll end up feeling even worse. It's normal to go through these periods of fustration, but hang in there. I've been at this same weight for a year now, and I could've been at my goal long ago, but I'm not perfect, I don't know who is. Life happens, it's how we handle it that's important. If we give up, all hope is lost. You have a lot of friends here, rooting for you, and we're here day and night for you, sweetie. Please don't ever feel embarrassed about expressing your feelings here. That's one reason we're here. Take care. :grouphug:

I went to San Fran this weekend and had lots of snacks so I didn't cheat. I had this "low carb" wrap at a sub shop but i don't think it was because my body did not like it.
