Good morning on 7/7/7. Lots of weddings happening today, I hear. I just may buy a lottery ticket today. :lucky:
It's sort of drizzly again today :rain: - great weather for mosquito breeding! I did a bit of gardening yesterday and they were just ravenous - I wish they sucked out fat, instead of blood.
Today will be an indoor day with lots of Fair stuff to do plus a late Bingo to work tonight. I won't be in bed until well after 1 so getting up for Church tomorrow morning will be challenging. I plan to try for a nap mid-afternoon.
Right now, I'm getting another coffee :coffee: and watch Live Earth for a bit.
What are your weekend plans? :cofdate:

Morning Ruth!
We have mosquito problems here, too. Poor Avery wakes up every morning with at least three welts on here somewhere. There's this infomercial on one of the Korean channels for a pop-up screen tent, and in one scene of the advertisement, the family has it set up in their living room. We always laughed about that because it seemed so ridiculous, but we seriously considered getting one for over Avery's crib!
I ran to yoga this morning and then did the elliptical for a little bit afterwards. I was planning on walking down to the gym since I ran twice this week but I didn't leave myself enough time to get ready and so I *had* to run, or I would've missed class. Our teacher just got back from Hawaii yesterday and was a bit jet lagged (I know, cry me a river!) so she ended class a little early, which is how I had time to hop on the elliptical before Tom and the kids showed up for martial arts class. We hit the commissary after class for some really nice looking fruits and veggies. I wanted portobellos, but there weren't any, so it was big zucchini for stuffed zucchini instead. We had taco bake for dinner tonight. YUM! I put this cilantro seasoning that I had found in the Mexican foods section in with the refried beans, and I sauteed some onions for them too. That, along with the cumin, chili powder, garlic, and onion powder, made them just delicious!
I'm doing well with my pledge to reduce my grains. I was planning on three yesterday, two today, and one tomorrow, but I only got in two yesterday. I had two today - half a whole wheat pita for lunch and one small whole wheat tortilla for dinner - and tomorrow's will also be another pita. I feel more in control and definitely less craving-y, so I'm going to try to be very conscious of my grain consumption from this point out.
Tomorrow I'm doing the Children's Church lesson, so it will be off to church early so I can get everything together for that. Then we're going to the pool, which means I have to make sure I'm up in time to make lunches before we go to church!
I met my exercise goal for the week! That made me happy! What made me even happier was my realization in the middle of the week that it's not a chore but a choice that I'm making to be healthier.
Tom's got "Mythbusters" on and it sounds funny so I'm going to go check that out. Happy weekending!

Oh, I think I figured out how to attach a picture. For those of you who couldn't see the one of Tom and me at the Korean train station, here it is:

Morning chicks. The weather here is beautiful. I have a line full of clothes already. Just sitting here in my jammies drinking tea and thinking about finishing my food list for the store.
Rtuh- You sound like you have a busy day. :D Hope you have fun and I think I will buy a lotto ticket as well as 7 is my lucky number. ;) Have a grea day.
Kara- You are always on the run as well. You have to be the most organized person I know. Hope you have a great one.
Me- other than food shopping not much poking in the garden and I am going to enjoy my last two days of vacation. DH has to drink some beer today so I can make him leave a little left for the slug problem I have in my garden. My peppers are starting and so are my tomatoes. We have had lettuce a few times. I also need to weed my herb garden and my flower ones. Well I must dash for now chat with ya all later.

Good morning!
Ruth I am watching CNN right now and they are doing a big story on all the weddings that are occuring today. Too bad you have to stay up so late with Bingo. We all know how fun that is for you. :)
Kara Like the picture- it actually looks really intimidating. How do you attach pictures? I have never figured it out... WTG on your exercise. I did really well for a week, and then haven's done too well since.
LC Sounds like a chore filled day for you. DH and I need to have a chore filled weekend. Just all kinds of things that need to get done around here.
Me- Had a great OP day yesterday. We went to a girlfriend's for play and dinner. I took along a salad while they munched on chips, drank wine, and ate pizza. I did slice up a cuke with some guacamole and ate my salad. None of the other. :) Although I have not done a perfect Phase 1, I have 4 more days and am going to go ahead and start Phase 2. I have been on and off this summer and don't want to "jack" up my system too much. Plus I should know if **baby three** is on the way by Wednesday, so it would be Phase 2 regardless. I really think I am just being paranoid, but there is nagging thing in my brain thinking I may be.
We are grilling burgers tonight, (lean and bunless of course!), 4 bean salad, and I am going to make deviled eggs again. The ones I made for the 4th were awesome, and I have been in the mood for them again.
For now, more coffee is in order :coffee:

Kara, I use some stuff called "mosquito barrier" mosquitobarrier.com and it is just great. Remember I live in S. Louisiana..mosquito haven...I live about 10 minutes from a swampy area and if it works here, it will work anywhere. It is pure garlic, so doesn't have any "people poison" in it. It smells horrible in the container, but you only put 6 tablespoons of it in a gallon of water and spray around the outside of the house every couple of weeks (unless there is really intense rain, then I spray about every week) and you really don't smell it after spraying.
Nothing much happening here today. Yesterday was a lot of fun. We went to New Orleans and went to the restaurant supply place and I found the pan I wanted and also a mandolin I've been wanting to slice veggies thin and a really cool ladle. There is a fantastic neighborhood restaurant close to there and my husband had the envy for a stuffed artichoke, so we went there and I had a spinich salad. Then we went to a mall looking for a game my husband wanted, Then to Whole Foods where I got a ton of veggies and fruit, then Target where I got some rectangle baskets to put my "beauty products" in. My daughter gave me boxes of Aveda stuff she had that she didn't want to pack up to bring to California with her and I needed something to keep them in. She worked for a distributor (she was also engaged to him, but that's another story)
DD called yesterday afternoon while I was in Target to tell me she made it to LA and they had begun moving their stuff in their apt. She said it is nice, but tiny...it's a loft and looks a lot smaller in person than on the internet! I wanted to say "Good..come home!" but I resisted.

Femme That sounds like a very fun day of bumming around with DH. My husband is not a big fan of shopping, so I don't know that he would have made it that long. I am so glad to hear that your DD made it okay. My 27 year old sister lives in LA.

Morning girlies! Happy 7/7/07! Supposed to be the luckiest day of the millenium! (If you believe in luck and such.) No Davis moments today, let's pray!
Going to run and go pick up the car from the shop, come home, change, and head to the pool! Going to be a lovely day, I hope. Then after the pool, coming home, showering, changing, and going to church and then to dinner with Mom and Dad. DH is SO excited. I told him not to go overboard at dinner, but we'll see what happens.
Want to welcome Laura who started posting yesterday! Pull up a towel! Get out the SPF 30! And if you have any questions, ask!
Kiko, Baby 3? I swear sometimes I'm just not paying attention! You have to let us know!!!! I'll say some prayers for you!
Well anyhoo, I'd better get ready to pick up the car, brush my teeth and such. Hope everyone has a lovely (and lucky, or blessed) day!

Good Mornin' all!
Thanks Weezel for your welcome - I was a bit lost this morning when I saw yesterday's thread was closed, but I think I get it now!
I spent yesterday going over the SBD book. A lot of the principles are similar to what I was doing before, so I'm hoping this will be an "easy" transition.
I DJ part-time, and yes, today is a day for weddings. I've got a reception to do tonight - it's actually for a girlfriend's foster daughter, so I'm also invited as a guest, not just hired help. We are going to have a blast! I'm starting the program today, so I hope the dinner is a buffet style where I can load up on veggies - I'm bringing snacks just in case!
I also have another major accomplishment to share - my DH is pulling on his swim trunks and joining me on the Beach! :woohoo: His biggest worry is the financial strain of eating healthy - I don't think he understands that by doing this we will save all the money he would normally spend eating out, and be able to put it toward the difference in our grocery bill.
So here goes. I hope everyone has an awesome OP day. I'll probably check back this afternoon - I need lots of accountability!

Hello Chickens,
We picked up the niece yesterday, and she is adjusting to us, I hope. As I expected, she has become attached to youngest DD. My youngest is not at all shy and has a talent for connecting with people and putting them at ease, so I'm glad she's around for Lolo, even though there is a language barrier there. Lolo is looking kind of overwhelmed and bewildered, she's been very quiet and hasn't eaten much so far. She stayed up long enough to have some dinner with us last night, then turned in around 8. Of course for her that was 2 am. My crazy mother in law called at 2:30 am to make sure all was well, and woke everyone up. Then DS had a stomach ache and kept me up the rest of the night, so I am pooped this morning. I made pancakes for the kids and cottage cheese pancake for me. I've got to get to the store and stock up on some french bread and cheese to be sure she doesn't starve!
Today is the first day in a long time that I don't have anything on my list that HAS TO GET DONE. It feels very luxurious! The kids are out jumping on the trampoline, and I'm surfing and goofing off. It's going to be hot, so I think we'll head for the pool after lunch, and then we'll grill and eat outside tonight. I wanted to take it easy the first weekend, so Lolo can adjust and get over jet lag. Tomorrow maybe we'll go for a hike and have a picnic lunch.
Schatzi, you always come across so energetic in your posts. Is it all that cawfee?
Lisa, maybe I'll see you at the pool.
femme, do you know of anything that works for gnats? The little annoying ones that form a cloud around your head and try and fly up your nose? They've been terrible here this year.
Kiko, we'll be waiting with bated breath to hear your news. I had a similar experience with oldest DD this week. She's 21, has a 2 yr. boyfriend and screwed up with the birth control recently. She was late and I was dying - that would've been such a mess. Fortunately things turned out allright. Of course your situation is very different, but I hope it works out the way you want. None of my 3 were planned, we were never any good at that, but most of the time, we're glad we've got them all.
Have a lovely day Ruth, littlechick and Kara (night)!
Oh, today was weigh-in. I skipped last week, so for two weeks, 3 lbs down. I was hoping for more, but I'll take it! At least I'm headed in the right direction. Haven't changed the ticker yet.

Ohhhhh I get it. Well, it sounds like a waste of perfectly good beer to me. No wonder LC uses her DH's backwash! I don't think we have a slug. We seem to do ok but it's a useful tip just in case!
Anyone have a remedy for bunnies in the garden? My mom cannot keep them away from her tomato plants and green beans. I end up giving my parents all my big tomatoes (we also have roma and cherry) because the bunnies eat the plants and then nothing grows, and then all their green beans have bunny tooth marks on them. No matter how many times Oscar and Sophie go tearing after the bunnies, they never catch them and they don't scare them enough to keep them away. Any suggestions?
Kiko

Weezle Maybe you need to take a few beers to the pool with you. You would only be drinking them for your garden. ;)
Schmoodle Hope that your niece is able to settle in quickly. I am sure it is overwhelming for her.
Schatzi I love my virtual family, just really hoping that I won't be adding to my family here. We will certainly adjust and love another baby as much as these two girlies, but I am too old for this! I am going to be 39 this September..... if we had gotten started on our family at an earlier age I would be thrilled for a third. Babies are an amazing blessing though....
Laura :welcome3: We are glad you are here! It will be such good support to have your husband following this way of eating as well. Have a great day! I do much better when I check in several times a day, so post away!
I am being a bit of a bum this morning... need to get myself moving.

Kiko, beer at the pool, you say? What a great idea! Wish.... I had thought.... of that.... before..... It's for the slugs, really.... Do slugs like frozen drinks too? Cosmo? Margarita? :D
And don't worry, whether you are or aren't, God will continue to bless you. 39 isn't too old. My mom has worked in labor and delivery for 32 years and women having babies keep getting older and older, and it's not as dangerous as it used to be. I remember when it was scary to have a baby at 35, and nowadays that's a normal time to start having a family. Keep us posted, and I'll continue to pray for you!

Happy 7/7/7 everyone,
:welcome: Laura, great to meet you :)
Well, I have been out of the picture for the last week. Last Saturday I was supposed to go dancing for my bday and with my luck I ended up stuck at home with cramps thanks to my TOM :( .
Then Sunday I noticed my ds started with a tick in his neck. He would just start jerking it to the side and he said it wasn't him doing it. Totally made me freak out. Took him to his pediatrician on Monday morning and she told me that he needs to see the neurologist (what!!!!).
All of Monday afternoon, Tuesday and Thursday I spent the day searching for a neurologist that will see a 10 yr old and quick. Finally found one about 15 minutes from me and he saw my son yesterday. He told me that his tick is do to Tourettes syndrome. He mentioned that he is at the age where he can show more noticeable signs of it. He asked me if my son clears his throat alot or does a sniffing sound and when I told him yes, he said that was part of the involuntary vocal part of tourettes. No medication is needed because it's being diagnosed as mild. He did order a Cat scan and EEG, because he thinks that my ds blank stares and dazes may be part of a seizure. We don't have those appointments until 8/15 and the results will be given to us until 8/24..... over a month away.
This has surely been a stressful horrible week. My problem (besides everything else) is that I eat when I am stressed. I am really trying not to eat the bad foods, but the past few days I have found myself doing it.
I knew I had to check back in here so that I can get the great support you chicks always give.
Well gotta go have my :coffee: now, I hope everyone has a Lucky 777 today.

gosh, Myra, I'm so sorry to hear about your news. It's 10 yr old Anthony, right? Remember I have one of those too?
You said no medications, is there any other treatment for it? I don't know much about tourettes but it must be a hard thing for a kid to deal with (and stressful for the parents). Is tourettes just the ticks or are there other things that go along with it? Are the seizures part of the tourettes or is that something else?
It's funny because my Anthony has always had some ticks and been wierd about things like cold, wind, etc. We call him our 10yr-old senior citizen. His ticks are mostly tactile things like tapping (you ever watch Monk?) and touching things. In school once the psychologist evaluated him for Asperger's syndrome and came up with a borderline score.
You hang in there - I'll be thinking about you and your Anthony. One thing I've learned about kids is that there's always something to be worried about!

I FINALLY have some time to do some personals! Yay!
Scmoodle - enjoy your day of nothing to do! Those are the best!
Myra - so sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis. How stressful for all. At least it is a mild case. Keep us posted.
Weezle - I am very jealous of all your tomatoes. They are my absolute favorite and home grown are the best - the ones bought from the store are never the same. Unfortunately, its very difficult to grow them. Enjoy your day!
Kiko - waiting to hear your news! The period of 'not knowing' is so stressful. The occasions when its happened to me just sets my mind going in a zillion different directions.
Laura - WELCOME!! Good job packing the snacks for tonight. That's the way to do it.
Schatzi - sounds like a busy day - enjoy it! I've adopted your 'furkids' term. My dh thought it was funny when I called them that.
Femme - your New Orleans trip sounds like it was fun! I want a mandolin too! I'm interested to hear what your dd thinks of life in LA. It is truly a world unto itself.
Kara - yay! I was stoked to see the pic! You look fantabulous and are an inspiration to me!
Little Chick - I am jealous of your garden also! Tomatoes, herbs and flowers - it sounds wonderful!
Ruth - Bingo's my favorite! We haven't gone to play in a long time. Need to get back to it. I do enjoy the Live Earth too.
Me - have a fairly busy weekend planned full of fun stuff. Vegging this morning then dh and I are going to see Transformers (I was a huge tomboy as a kid and Transformers was my favorite!) followed by the gym and visiting a friend's tonight for a 7/7/07 poker tournament. Tomorrow I'm back at the gym and then meeting up with my sister and a friend to see the Die Hard movie. Summer movies are here and the inner-geek in me is in full swing!
Enjoy your day all!

Hello again just sitting around doing nothing, the house is clean. One line of laundry done and on the line now. DD's are waiting for oldest dd's boyfriend to show up and drive them to friends houses. DH is having a drink but not beer. So the slugs will have another free night of snacking. GRRR.
Sarynit- my garden is just a wee little one, but it is growing and we are such proud parents. We are planning a bigger one for next year.
Kiko- I hope all works out the way you want it too. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Hugs to you. Take care hon.
Well I think that I may just go and have a nap, or maybe go out on the deck and read and enjoy the sunshine since the rest of the week is not looking to good. Well enjoy your day ladies.

Thanks all for your concerns
Schmoodle, I do remember you also have a 10yr old named Anthony. The Seizures are something else, the neurologist said it's not related to the Tourettes.
The ticks/twitches are part of Tourettes. There is also vocal outburst that come alone or along w/the ticks. The most common in mild symptoms is constant clearing of throat and sniffing. When my son made these two common noises I never thought it was associated with Tourettes.
There is no medication for mild cases and it may regress or progress, we can only wait and learn more about how to cope. I have found a local chapter through the National Tourettes Syndrome association. They will help us with a family support group, literature and advise us of conferences which will help my son know that he's not alone.
Once again thanks, for all your support. Anthony is doing really good. Now, I need to get myself back into gear so I can be a healthy mommy so I can be there for my son. Hey, I think I just got my motivation to get back on the Beach!!!!

Hey, everybody!
I'm late posting today, we were up and out early this morning, as it's Jake's birthday and he wanted to go to the Pa. Dutch Smorgasbord for his free birthday meal. :) We did a little grocery shopping while we were there, too, as they have a huge grocery & farm market there, as well. Back home again, I let Carley have a quick dip in the pool, fed her lunch, and now she's napping. So wouldn't you know it, I have a little time to myself, and here comes my daughter-in-law and Amber. They're in the pool right now, and as soon as Carley wakes up, we'll join them.
Monica called a little while ago to say they starting the drive back home, but since they won't be getting in until late tonight, they're going to come out tomorrow to get Carley. Oh, well.
BTW, the girls had a blast at Dutch Wonderland yesterday. Luckily, Cindy asked Nikki, a teen-ager who babysits for the girls occasionally on weekends, if she'd like to come along to help me, and she jumped at the opportunity. She was a big help, taking Audrey on some of the more wild rides that the smaller 2 girls couldn't get on. It was pretty exhausting, though, trying to keep track of all three girls in the crowded park. I had a migraine by the end of the day, and went to bed right after I put Carley down for the night. But the kids had fun, and I'm sure they'll have memories of this for a long time, and that's what matters most.
Too many posts to comment on each one, but I've read them all. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you, Kiko, but I'm not sure whether they're crossed for you are or you're not!
Have a great rest-of-the-day. Jake's positive something lucky is going to happen to him since his birthday is today! :dizzy:

I've had a rough day! Despite getting back on my P1 wagon with a buddy (who was always sceptical about the diet, but who having done it for a week is practically evangelical about it now!) I went out with friends last night, and had a fw things I shouldn;t have done. Not many, but basically it was a buffet type get together, and I brought a salad. However, absolutely NOTHING else on the table was SBD friendly, and so I had a couple of tiny savoury eggs, and a mini sausgae roll, plus a helping of lemon merangue pie. I should have been a bit stronger, but I felt so awful turning down the hostess' efforts, plus my friends clucking about 'ooh, you're pregnant now, you're eating for 2 you know...' So I caved in, but to vindicate myself I had a shedload of salad to fill up, and today despite doing a roast dinner for family did a load of roast veggies (my fav) and didn;t have a Yorkshire pudding.
Apart from that, life is busy with the closure of my shop, but the online side is going an absolute bomb!! So happy clapping all around. Apart from when people mention lemon pie....

Myra, I'll pray for your son. DH and I have a friend who has 4 children, all of which have Tourettes. They cough, clear their throats, sniff, etc. I thought the poor youngest girl had asthma or something the first time I met her, but it's just part of the whole deal, I guess. Hopefully the docs will figure something out!

The pool was nice, but draining. I love when it's HOT, and it was HOT. The water temp was 88 so it was like bath water. Had a few Slug Drinks :D and called it a day so we could come home and get ready for church.
Going to our favorite restaurant after church tonight, D'Arcy's. You've probably seen me refer to it as my potato and beer restaurant. Also, best horseshoes in Springfield. I'm going light tonight though, just having Irish Boxty (potato cakes with a little cheese sauce drizzled over them and jalapeno slices) and Irish Mashers (best mashed potatoes EVER.) And, of course, the oldest Irish beer, Smithwick's (pronounced "Schmitticks.") Hey, I'm Irish. I'm having potatoes and beer. Sorry girls. Let's call it my "planned indulgence." ;)
Glad you got to catch some rays too, Kiko. I freckled nicely. I'm looking forward to tomorrow because I made a Weight Watchers Key Lime Pie that I thought my parents would like. Can't wait to try it!
Better put my face on before church. Hope you have a great evening!

Schatzi - Vacation was fab, we did the race on Sunday, it was great, a little chilly but I nice, my guy did the best out all of our cars. Monday we did some outlet shopping, tuesday we went to the water park. Tue night we walked the board walk, played a few games and played on the beach for awhile. Water Country it was a blast. Wed we had a cook out and a great family day. The fireworks were cancled due to the Casino catching on fire, and then we headed home on thursday stopped at the big Bangor mall and did some more shopping. Stopped in Calais and did some grocery shopping then to the duty free for a couple of bottles. And we were home by 6:15 Canadian time. We were tired and happy to be home. Love going away but it is always nice to be back home.
Here is a pic of dh and I in front of a race car that was at the NH liquour store. So cool. The second is my car during a pit stop. The third is my dh and my two dd's play a game in a game place on the board walk. The fourth is a ride at Water Country. I didn't do this one but the rest of them did. the fifth is me and my youngest.

Kiko, deviled eggs sound soooo good! I was going to make portobello burgers for dinner tonight and that would be a perfect side dish! Eggs have even been on sale at the commissary. Now I just have to see if I can find some portobellos!!!
Cat, I'm glad you had a nice day out and I'm even gladderer that your daughter arrived safe in L.A.! I've been wanting a mandolin for some time, so you'll have to use yours an extra couple times for me, OK?
Thank you for the compliment, Schatzi! You're nice.
Welcome, Laura! Glad your husband decided to join you on the Beach! It's much more fun with two!!!
Schmoodle, three pounds is three pounds! Glad the niece is settling in. I'm sure she'll feel part of the family in no time.
Lisa, I'm sure everyone else answered this because I'm having to post by page, but aren't marigolds planted around the edge of a garden supposed to keep rabbits out?
More to come for page 2!

Myra, you and your family will be in our prayers! MAKE AN EATING PLAN and it will be easier to avoid the emotional eating. I know you have a lot going on, but take five minutes, plan out a week's meals and then stick to it. Don't leave it to chance, or what you'll find. You CAN stay on plan and you WILL feel better about yourself!!! We're here. Any time of day. Seriously!
Sary, you're MY inspiration! You've zoomed right on by me!!!
Schatzi, I feel the same way about slugs. Ich!!!
Welcome back from vacation, LC!
Happy birthday, Jake! Glad you made it through the park day without collapsing, Cottage!
Oberon, glad the online shop is going well!!! Hop back on your towel. Mine went vacant for a couple days last week, but luckily, everyone here doesn't slip at the same time!!!

I forgot to mention something else exciting! You might not think so, but I was happy...
At the gym, they have racks and racks of those big Swiss exercise balls. I always wanted to try them out but had no clue what to do with them. So Friday I asked the girl behind the desk what would be some good things to do with the balls and she looked up some exercises for me and printed them out (so nice!) and I tried some. They felt really good, and I loved having to balance myself *while* I was working other muscles! I did some more things yesterday, and it might be my imagination, but I feel more toned today. I'm going to try to keep it up.

Greetings everybody! Well today was Weigh Day...Down another 5 lbs!:broc:
I have one more day of phase 1. I'm a bit afraid to add back anything.:?:
Yesterday I had a 07-07-07 potluck dinner, It's been a tradition since 02-02-02. I couldn't eat a thing anybody brought, knowing today was WD I was not tempted to stray (even with the homemade ginger cream ice cream!).
I fixed a plate from my fridge of salad, chickpeas and chicken breast.
An hour before the party, My mom got word her mother died. (She had advanced alzheimers, yet lived at home with the aid of a dog who kept her on a routine... 3 weeks ago she had a seizure and fell breaking her hip. She was placed in a recovery home after hip surgery, and her health/mental state declined rapidly.) It was for the best, I'm happy she's not suffering.
Myra hugs, I know it must be hard, the waiting game to get the test results...hang in there!
Kiko I'll also be 39 in September! 3rd Sept. When is your B'day?:hat:
Everybody else I read all the post, just too many to reply to individually have a Beachy day! :grouphug:
It's windy and looks like it's going to bucket here! It' s mosquito season here as well, We've got Chikungunya to deal with here... A horrible virus spread by tiger mosquitos which cause all ones joints to swell and cause great pain! :( Google it to find out more... I hear it's dreadful. Several friends got it last season.
Well take care all, Will check in later.
Love that ticker moving on down!

Hi Everyone
I thought I would check in and see how everyone's Saturday turned out.
Kara, you're right. I need to take a few minutes to set up a plan. I did pretty good today, after I kicked myself and knew I had to get back on plan. Oh and by the way you look great in the pic......
Schatzi, I knew what you meant only after a few looks back at my post. It actually also made me laugh when I realized I had made a spelling mistake.
Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers.
Kiko, you have made me crave deviled eggs..... yummmmmmyyyy!
Schmoodle, I was babbling and totally forgot to congratulate you on the 3lbs. That's great!
LC - I am really glad to hear you had a great vacation. Great Pics..... and check you out girl.
Indigal, :cheer: WTG on the 5lbs. I am really sorry to hear about your grandmother, I am glad to hear you are taking it in a positive way.
Weezle - I am really glad to hear you had a good time swimming. Hope your evening turns out to be a great one.
Well there is sure a lot of posts today, so I will just send everyone a big  and hope everyone's Sunday turns out to be a good one.

Myra, I love your smiley getting on the scale! That is awesome!
Kiko, I keep forgetting to tell you, but my mom was 42 when my brother was born. She had a stellar pregnancy and birth with no complications, so it can be done. Here's hoping for the best, whatever the best is!!!

Morning, gals! I hate being up before 4AM. I'm waiting for the system administrator to finish with security patches on two servers. If he finishes fast enough, I might get to doze a bit before the next round of maintenance at 5AM. I prefer to work Friday night but the guy who did that window has missed more sleep than I have lately so it only made sense to let him have his choice.
I don't have time to respond to everyone. This has been a very active thread this weekend. I got a lot of stuff done on Saturday including mowing the yard and fixed a mussel meal that was really good.

good Morning to all the early bird chicks,
Indigal, way to go with the potluck, you are doing great. Condolences on your grandmother. It's amazing she was able to continue living alone with Alzheimer's.
It'll be hot and humid today, I'm assured by the weatherman. Right now it feels nice and I've got the house wide open, trying to absorb the cool. We stayed at the pool all afternoon yesterday. It was a perfect pool day. Poor niece fell asleep at the table. Still adjusting and not eating much. I'm going to the store soon and pick up lots of french bread. I think we'll try a short hike today to a spot near here that has an awesome mountain view.
Have a great day everyone!

Watching a Beach Boys Bio on tv having a cup of tea and getting myself talked into getting my stuff done, few dishes and I want to plan my meals out for the week and get my butt into the kitchen to prepare it. DH is working this morning, oldest dd is at a friends house then off to a driving lesson and youngest is still sleeping. I love quiet mornings.
Kitty- so sorry to about your grandmother. good for you taking your own food with you. And another five pounds. You rock.
Kara- I really need to get my butt moving on the exercise thing. You are doing great. Keep up the good work.

Kara,
I just got back from the store - niece and youngest DD were up early, so I took them along. I tried to get her to find some things, but she is very shy and quiet so it was more like me asking "do you like this? How about this?" Anyway, loaded up on french bread and got doughnuts for the kids and she seemed to like that! Ahh, doughnuts, the international language. Not the best breakfast, but she had a glass of milk with it, so I know she's not going to starve this morning! She's IMing with her friends right now, so that should make her happy and keep her busy for a while. She is really no trouble, it's more me worrying that she's unhappy or hungry and she won't say anything.
littlechick, I love those quiet mornings too. I try to get up early so I can ease into the day and enjoy that quiet before everyone else is up and moving.

That's just nuts. I don't see how you can function on that many calories.
I'm not happy with how I've been doing though. I haven't been eating off-plan, but since DH has been away, and I've been mostly just cooking for kids, I haven't been getting in my dairy or my veggie servings. It's much easier to grab fruit or cheese for a snack, and I've been eating mostly protein, cheese, fruit, nuts/peanut butter, and my 2grains/day. When it's hot, I don't want to cook, and I get tired of salads if I eat too many. I've been tracking my calories on fitday and I notice my calorie intake has dropped from 1300 average to about 1150 average. I just haven't been feeling too hungry. And if it's time to eat and I can't find anything quick and suitable, it just seems easier to skip it. So I'm having the opposite problem than I expected to have - not eating enough! I really need to focus on getting the veggies in this week. I keep saying that, but I think it'll always be a struggle for me. And I think that's my key to being successful longterm.

Have you tried different types of salads? I do a romaine with cherry tomatoes almost every night with my entree, and it can get a little boring. Tomorrow for lunch I'm having romaine with dried apricots, feta, and pistachios. Grab a South Beach cookbook at the library. The one I had borrowed had a whole section on salads. Or try doing some veggie with breakfast - omelet with salsa? Zucchini or asparagus-mushroom or spinach frittata?
I love that we have a healthy approach to eating!

500-700 calories a day???? Good Lord. Only time I end up at 700 is if I have refried bean soup that day, because I just can't physically eat anything else, I'm so full. But to do it on purpose is ridiculous!
So how is everyone this morning? I'm a little sleepy, even though I slept in. Going to be another gorgeous day at the pool! 96 and sunny today. Afterwards, we're going over to my brother and his wife's apartment to try to put together their grill, and then cook out.
Who else has big plans for today?

OH! I just made one with strawberries the other day. I believe it was baby spinach, strawberries, and walnuts with balsalmic vinegrette. I wasn't sure how the vinegar would be with the strawberries, but it was quite tasty! I do believe I substituted the walnuts for some other nut - maybe pine nuts? - that I didn't have on hand. There might have been feta on there, too. It was yummy with the strawberries, though!

Have you tried different types of salads?
I did one yesterday with grape tomotoes, cucumber sliced paper thin and vidalia onions chopped very fine...I marinated it all day long in a vingarette of olive oil, dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar and herbs de provence...tasty and cooling! Had more "juice" left over last night, so I dumped more tomoatos in it...
Kara, that would also work for adding your artichokes to!
BTW...looks like I've broken that plateau..laid off the grains for a couple of days (only allowed 1 per day) and I have been drinking a big pitcher of water for the last couple of days. I fill up the pitcher at night and put it in the fridge and have to drink it all during the day.
I had been at 158 for a while, then it zoomed up to 161 even though I hadn't cheated (well, except for that one oyster!)...I was scared to get on the scale this morning, but when I did, it was 157..whew!!

Hey all...taking a break from packing right now. I'm moving in with the boyfriend temporarily until I find a graphic design job (because who knows where I'll end up!) I really hate doing this because his dog is a holy terror. She's half coonhound/boxer and eats everything she can get her jowls on! She's a sweet dog, but just "too much" for the indoors, and my mini dachshund can't stand her. I guess it's better than having to break a lease...right? I'm storing all my nice furniture while I'm there, and I have a room all to myself that I can shut her out of if she gets to be too much. Hopefully I'll be out of there quick! I'm definitely what you call a "quirky alone." I'm much happier having my own space...
Kara, interesting about the Alli post. I'm still shocked that it's available without doctor supervision, and knowing there's someone out there only eating 700 calories :dizzy: on this pill is exactly the reason why I feel it should be regulated.
Ok, off my soapbox and onto packing boxes. I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing Sunday!

Hey Schatzi, and way to go femme!
I have more questions - always!!
I bought some turkey bacon last week - someone here suggested the Louis Rich and it was pretty good! But it's only me eating it and now it's been in the fridge for about 5 days. How long does it keep? Can I freeze it? Should I cook first and then freeze?
Also, has anyone ever tried a whole turkey breast in the crock pot?

Hello and good afternoon, chicklets! Just got home from the pool. Not ONE cloud in the sky today, no breeze, and 96 and humid. PERFECT! I reapplied my SPF 30 twice and I think I still may have gotten burnt. Was an enjoyable day though!
Little brother's wife decided she didn't want people over (like family is "people") when their apartment was a wreck from moving in all her stuff and all their wedding gifts. So, tonight we're going to Mom and Dad's and having burgers (fake burger for me,) fat-free hot dogs for DH and others, Mahi Mahi for DH, salads, and grilled veggies. Mmmmmmmm. Cookout. My Weight Watchers Key Lime Pie for dessert. Yummo! I'm quite excited!
DH is in the other room taking a nap, poor Boo Boo had too much sun. I'm going to jump through the shower and see if I can scrounge up any veggies or anything to take over for appetizers.
Hope you girlies had a great Sunday! I really don't want to go back to work tomorrow. Can't I just live on vacation forever and still have my bills paid? Have a fantastic evening girls. I'll check in tomorrow morning!

Betty, hope your move goes well. We stayed with my in-laws while we were in transit from California to Korea and they have a poodle. Nice dog. Really. But he would jump up on the table and steal the kids' food and get on the bed with his just-walked-outside-probably-in-poo paws and chew up the baby's toys... I added fruit first because I was really wanting some summer fruits. I'd say add in something that you feel would be an extra special treat, that you wished you could have had on Phase 1. I had read in the book how Beachers were scared to add things back in on Phase 2 and I thought it would never happen to me, but I felt the same way!!! There are a couple "Phase 2 Newbies" threads in the archives somewhere and we chatted about that quite a bit.
Good luck!

Happy weekend (bringing up the rear here.) to all of you...Tomorrow I'm going to go with Phase1..Last week I did my yoga twice, and walked 6days..Now,the hard part for me is to combine the diet, and the excercise tog. Not impossible for sure...but then the house ends up looking like a wreck...Oh Well, dirt can wait..lol. I rented two fab. movies this last wk. and I recommend them..One is call 'Maxed Out'..the other is called 'Breach',based on a true life story of the biggest breach in usa history..both excellent and I did learn alot..No sex/violence/foul language, but really isn't a kiddy movie. Tomorrow is yoga,...KARA, I didn't know you practiced. I had done it faithfully years (and years ) ago,but dropped it..sure wish I hadn't..staying limber, and flexible as a person ages is so important..so I'm working on getting some back..just to think I use to be able to do the shoulder stand...wouldn't go there now.
