 Just getting going on all the chores for the day, but had to stop in and say good morning to everyone! Hope everybody has a great Friday. We are going snorkeling after DH gets home from work in a couple of hours... (whether he likes it or not, because we've been telling the 5 year old all week we would go again soon). Have a great day!

Hi Everyone!! My last day of work for almost 2 weeks. I am off Monday and then fly to Colorado on Tuesday. I won't be back to work until Thursday the 18th. I can't wait -- my entire family needs this vacation. I hope everyone does well while I am gone -- I'd love to come back 5 pounds lighter, we'll see what happens.

Good morning everyone! TGIF! Even with a short week this week has dragged. I imagine it has something to do with the heat and the fact that I have so much to do to get ready for my sister's wedding on the 21st. It's hard to help with arrangements when you're in a different country!

I'm feeling pretty darn good...I'm down to 209 (was 209.5 at the beginning of the week) and so that's a grand total of 17 lbs in 6 weeks! I can't believe it. I'm so excited to get to 206 as that will be a full 20 lbs. Then it's on to ONEderland! Yeah! :carrot:

I can't wait to get down south and be able to swim in mom's pool every day. My sister is gonna drop her eliptical off at my mom's before I get there so I can use it...she can work out at her fire station and they bought a full home gym when they bought their house in March so the eliptical is sitting in storage and I may as well use it while I'm there.

Hope everyone has a terrific (FAST) Friday and a great weekend!

Cheers, Tamara

Good morning everyone!

OMGoodness, I'm so glad that it is Friday! We don't have any plans this weekend (except for swimming class) so I'm not sure what we will end up doing. We may go to PA to a resort where we have a timeshare. We get to use all of the facilities anytime whether it's our week or not. They have a lake (with free paddle boats/canoes, an awesome play area and picnic tables/BBQ's). There's also a pool and horseback riding. Oh, and a golf course with the first 9 holes designed by Arnold Palmer. We've only played it once and Mr. Palmer beat me soundly! LOL.

GG: Wow, the moving does sound like a workout! I hope things are going as well as they can be with your Grandpa.

Dee: Have fun snorkeling! DH tried to take Alex when we were in HI but it was a no go. Maybe after these swimming lessons he will be able to try again.

Angie: Have fun on vacation!

Tamara: Congrats on the loss! Sounds like you have a good workout planned while you are away.

OK, off to the grocery store!!

Sounds like everyone is having a full Friday...

Lauren, I snorkeled for the first time last week... It is awesome! I can't believe my 5 year old is braver than I am at it... he normally stays in the shallows and we take turns going deeper while one of us plays with the 3 year old (names are Connor(5) and Evan(3) btw... also have an 8 yo Brooke, who is off spending time with the grands). On sunday Connor followed me out to deeper water, he's such a brave lil guy... he wanted to catch a shark, lol.

Hope you guys all have a great day, I'm off to slather the sunscreen on everyone and find the suits.

Lauren, My mom is in Kansas City, MO and my sister is in Olathe, KS (that's where the wedding is). I'm not used to the kind of heat that is normal for this time of year down there, so I'm sure I'll make good use of the pool and be thanking god for the Air conditioning that is the norm down there.

I'm also excited about being able to stock up on the US version of SF products as the ones in Canada haven't quite caught up yet and they're still much higher in sugar. My sis was here week before last and brought me up a bunch of stuff, but I'm still going to stock up so mom doesnt' have to ship to me...LOL

Have a great day!

Dee, that's what I'm afraid my 4 y/o would say!! He's too adventurous! I'd be the one in the shallow waters petrified of jelly fish and crabs!

Have any of you had gel nail tips put on?? I'm getting my nails done tonight for an interview Monday afternoon, and I told the guy at the salon that I have horrible nails, I'm a biter and they peel and crack. He said they could do gels. Never heard of them before today. Any insight?

Gel nails? Hmm sounds interesting. My nails aren't bad, but I do bite when I tend to get angry or nervous or anyother emotion.

Well, I found out that the company I interviewed with has decided to go a different route. Manpower could be sending me on another interview early next week.

Not only am I depressed about the job, but I am in the middle of a visit. (aunt flo) So my week has not been good.

hey there....good thing about visiting the folks...internet usage. I'm well. Went for a long walk on the beach this am. My parents live about 10 min from destin fl...so its great to get home. I grew up playing in these beautiful waters...so i was up early and heading out to the beach for a nice long walk before all the tourist starting coming out. I also went swimming for a while....the water was perfect, clear and beatuiful. Then i came home and hit the hot tub. Nothing really exciting planned. Going to hang with GP after his appointment and then going out to dinner...and yes i plan to be bad..parents are taking me to Ruth Chris's steak house tonight...oh dear..so much for being good LOL

dee -snorkeling sounds great....i love snorkeling..use to do it all the time when i lived at home...use to find sand dollar and all sorts of cool shells that way. A neat trick is when you are snorkeling...dive down to the bottom, kick your fins and quickly turn around...it kicks up the sand and will reveal a lot of cool things. just don't do it around any coral areas....may kill the coral.
tleef congrats on the weight loss....good for you.
karen- that sounds like a fun place...and yes things are well here....gp is in good spirits...the man won't admit to being sick or in pain. he's a good man who takes things in stride.
ll- sorry about the job interview...i know it must be frustrating...hang in there girl.

Sorry to hear about the job Lisa, but at least they let you know quickly. Hope the agency comes up with something else ASAP. Have you gone to a few different agencies? I pestered...I mean sent my updated resume to...a couple different people yesterday. Told the current agency that if I only have 4 wks. left here, they need to be looking for something for me, because I cannot afford to be paycheckless! Imagine this, they set up an interview for a temp to perm position a block away from where I am now. Kick up some dirt girl! :D Interview is Monday at 3:30, and the girl said that the HR person at this company is a real stickler, hence the manicure tonight!

Tamara my DH family lives in Kansas city MO and St. Joesph MO. Have fun.

Lauren I have had Gel nails before and they didn't last very long at all for the price. I get mine done and they are acrylic or I will do the silk wrap. You might have better luck but my nails are terriable also. we pay 50.00 for a full set and 25 for a fill. I get mine cut sporty. What ever you do every place I have been to if you see that person wearing a mask chances are they are using a product taught in nail school that if you breathe in for one hour can make your lungs shut down. Commonly used in Walmarts. I love walmart. I am unsure of the name of it but the silk wraps and acrylic. Gel don't thin out as well. Look really fake but give it try........

Lisa sorry about the job you will find the right one and hopefully be happy. Funny how life works. thank you for your words of wisdom. I did go get some couseling. Obviously this isn't something that I have been groomed to deal with so any help is needed. My DH told me he doesn't want a divorce i flat asked him. He is just dealing with issues, I will live with it as long as I can don't think I am sounding rude but I need to feel a little bit of love and happiness before 2-5 years go by.

Dee snorkeling sounds like lots of fun! enjoy

Angie enjoy your vacation, I wouldn't worry too much abut loosing weight while on vacation thought!

Tamara congratulations both on your sister's wedding and on you loss of weight!

Karen have a great time! enjoy the beautiful weather!

Lauren I never had gels put on, I had acrylics in the past, I took them off every time I would get them, wouldn't last more than a few months on and I would go and put the on again, no more for me, and I hated having to go to the salon every other week, can't stand the smell. Good luck with the interview!

Lisa I send you a big huge hug, I wish I was closer I would come and fix you a delicious chicken soup (w/matzo balls) sorry about the job, something else will come along!

GG enjoy your family, sounds like you are going to have a great time, that is great that gp is in good spirits!

Sheila I love it you say just like it is! good for you, it sounds to me like DH needs an attitude adjustment, I hope he wakes up and smells the roses really soon. Hang in there!

I am not doing so hot today, lots of pain, I feel the insides moving and it is not a good feeling, it really hurts. It didn't help that my sicko mother has been causing a lot of problems in the family, my aunt that wanted to come and help got yelled at my mother and they got into a big fight just because eh has been talking to me, and my mother thinks that if I don't speak to her, then her sisters can't speak to me, yes they are my aunts, but in her eyes they are "her sisters" I am telling you my mother is just plain sicko and crazy. I know better, I shouldn't stress over her, but I do, I don't know how not to let it get to me. I don't need the stress right now!
I am going back to bed.
See you all tomorrow!
Have a great night!

Hello! ;)

I just thought I'd pop in and say hi to the few people that may remember me. It's been a long time. Things are going well here. I have discovered running and that has changed my life! I love it and am getting close to meeting my weight goals (which makes me incredibly happy). :carrot:

Dh is doing well and DS is now a lawyer in Chicago. :D

I remember hitting 40 and staying on this site. Are you guys still in your 30's??

Hope all is well with everyone! Take care.

Rabbit, Congrats for being close to your goal. I was just thinking about you the other day. I was in Chicago for a conference and there is no way that I would ever live there. It is way too expensive. Keep up the good work.

All, thanks for the kind words. I actually have some good news now. I start at another place on Monday. They didn't even want to interview me. They saw my resume and that was that. I will be working M - F (8 - 5). There might be some days that varry by an hour but all in all not bad. I will let you all know what happens Monday. Oh and I still have the part time retail job too.

Lauren, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers on Monday. Luckily this new place is Business Casual w/ jean days on Fridays.

Sheila, If you need to pm me that is fine. I understand completely what you are going through.

Hanna, sorry about the pain. (both physical and parental) It is hard to not listen to what parents might say, even though you know it's toxic. My suggestion would be to think about all the positive things that are going on in your life. The support groups that you have in place. Don't dwell on the bad.

GG, enjoy your time with your parents and GP. Because you are doing all that swimming and stuff, you are makeing up for it. Maybe just watch your portion control.

 to everyone else that I missed.

Hey Everyone :)

Lisa, I'm sorry to hear about the job. Keep your head up and I'm sure that you'll find something soon.

Lauren, I've had gel nails when I've bitten mine before and they HURT! The activator for the gel is worse than acrylic in my opinion. I'd go acrylic. The gel may be gentler on the natural nail but it hurts going on and I don't think it'll last as long.

I took the kids over the beach today to celebrate being off and able to! We came home with sand in every crevice, sunburned and happy. But now, I'm afraid that I may have gotten a touch of sun poisoning and btw, I had a HUGE oreo shake while I was there!! It was probably my whole day's calories, so now I'm beating myself over the head about it and wishing I hadn't done it!:o It'lll make the rest of the weekend even harder! oh well!

Dee, I hope snorkeling was great.

Angie - hope you are all set for vacation and have a great time

Everyone, I hope you all have a great weekend!:)

RABBIT!!! Girly, you think you can just pop in here and post a quickie?!   Missed you girl, think of you often! If you notice, I have not deleted your bio. :D Oh wait, actually I soft deleted it...it's still there, just no one can see it except mods. It's soo nice to hear from you! I'm hitting 39 in 11 days. RR & Karen a little ahead of me though.
Congrats on your accomplishments!! I've always wanted to be a runner...or at least a jogger. But I think my boobs would get in the way! :lol3: Soo nice to hear from you! Hey, go check out the Pics thread, stickied up top. There's some new pics of the kiddos, and we'd love to see your beautiful before/after pics!

OK guys, as for the nails...I went and the girl was sooo nice. Couldn't understand her real well, but she was real gentle with the file and only used the "drill" file thing after she had the tips on, and she was real gentle with that too. Because my nails are soo bad, she had to use powder gel on the base, then liquid gel on top, like a top coat or something. They look pretty much like acrylics to me. Nice and short, but still hard for me to type with, since I'm not used to them. ANd she convinced me to do my brows too! I'm never done them, and actually have been told they're nice, so I was almost insulted. But she just waxed them a little, to give shape...and it wasn't as bad as I imagined. I told her I don't normally subject myself to unecessary pain. :lol3:

Jenn, Hmm, the gel didn't hurt at all?? Maybe the liquid gel hurts more than the powder?

Lisa, Congrats! Is it perm, or temp to perm?

Hanna, I used to do the same thing, pull them off within a week or two. I never just went for fills, always needed at least a couple replaced.

Sheila, it was 68 total for the nails and brow wax. The nails were 60, I think, because normally the liquid gel is 45, but she told me 15 more, because they had to use the powder. I think fills are 20.

Goodnight all!

Just wanted to pop on and say good night. Lisa, congrats on the job... everyone else, I hope you all had a good day too. Soon I'll learn everyone, I hope. I ended up not snorkeling as the water at the beach was horrible. I can't wait til next weekend, we're going to try and go out on a boat for 1/2 a day... We ended up at the other little beach at low tide, and walked around checking out fishies and hermit crabs (the boys LOVE them, and there were so many out today). Unfortunately there were lots of little jellyfish type things, so we didn't get very far in the water. Still had a good time though. Have a great weekend, all!

Jenn the beach sounds a lot of fun! I miss going to see the ocean, I can't wait to be able to just drive by, as soon as I drive again that will be my first stop.

Dee it looks like you had a great day by the water too

Nothing much happening here, DS is already in bed and asleep, dh should be on his way home pretty soon.
Talk to you guys tomorrow, have a wonderful weekend.
