Happy Monday!!!

Amy- Thanks for asking about my POP goal for the day! I did make was tough but I did it. When I think about it, I am like how can I let food get all in my head like this and this weekend I just didn't have answer. That's just how it is sometimes.

Joni- Our CG bill usually looks like a ticket for 4 adults. So, come on, we probably wouldn't notice you while we chowed down. ;) CG is one of our favorite restaurants.

Sarah- Great on making goal!!! You got your two piece ready for this summer, yet?

Karen- 20 lbs!!!! That's awesome!!! We all knew you could do it! Those 5 lbs will probably be gone before you can snap your fingers. KUTGW!!!

Jillian- MMMMMM Sushi and Vodka and Champagne....well, well, sounds like you had some fun this weekend. LOL! You working out so often should help with those liquid fruits and starches. I'll be joining you in the workouts because I have got to be down 50 lbs by mid August to reach my Feb goal weight without stressing out so much. Have a POP Day!

Dan- You sound so excited about going to the museum to see Billy the Kid...:D It sounds like you had more fun at the social event with Liz's co-workers. And, glad to hear your back is doing better.

Lettie- Congrats on getting back on track...Day 4! That's great. I hope you don't have to move, but a lot of times, there are great things in store for you, that you could never dream/imagine about if you are positioned to take the chance to receive it. I firmly believe in that. I hope you have a great day.

KrispieD-:(I hope your DH finds the ring. It sounds extra special. You sound like you are taking it in stride. I guess I would be a little upset if my DH would lose his, because, for one, if I lost mine, he would hit the roof. So, it would only be right for me to be mad at him. :D But secondly, if my DH was as nice looking as yours, I would have to beat the other ladies off with a stick. :D Seriously though, I hope he finds it. Get some rest, Lady. I know how it is to run a Motel 6 inside your home. Have a great day!

Liza- Glad Mini Me is doing good for the most part. You sound like you really love your job. How many people can say that??? I'm a SAHM and I know some days I surely don't "feel the love".:p Anyhoo, I was in San Diego, late April and it just seems like something disastrous was always happening in the surrounding areas. You have to stay busy in your market. How do you get your sleep in?

Brit- GL at WI today. I will wish myself the same.:)

As far as me, those two lbs I gained from Friday are gone(sodium gets you everytime)...however, I still have an extra 1 1/2 lbs that needs to go away. When I get Subway the next time, I will eat my sandwich open face. I really think the 2 pieces of bread had something to do with my gain, as well as the small cheats on Sat. afternoon. My starches were light all week plus I did a TO, so maybe??? I don't know. Maybe, after I work out this morning and have a "release", I will see a change. Note to self: Work on scale addiction. I'm obsessed with my weight. :dizzy::dizzy::dizzy:
My eating plan for today: POP with the lightest starches and proteins possible, because Lord help me when I get to CG, tonight!!! The saga continues...HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYBODY!!!

07-02-2007, 08:17 AM
Morning Letisha.....and happy birthday to your DH!
A true miracle happened this past weekend...I actually lost some weight! Girls and can happen!!! Even on a weekend. I'm off to the gym...

Good morning, all! We had an AWESOME weekend! My best friend from high school came to visit with her family. I hadn't seen her in eight years, so it was a wonderful visit. They wanted to meet us for lunch and, knowing that we're dieting and doing well, she told us to choose a restaurant least likely to sabatoge our diet. We chose Chinese because the restaurant has a great Mongolian grill. This is the restaurant that we used to go to EVERY Sunday after church, but we haven't been in since starting LAWL. DH and I both did really well. I loaded up my bowl with cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, chicken, and shrimp and once it was cooked, I hit it with a little bit of soy sauce. It was really good - not the same as my beloved Tiny Spicy Chicken, but still good.

After lunch, we took them to see our new house and then we came back here to visit for several hours. It was just great. The kids got along great (their DD is 11, our DS is 6 and DD is 3) and had a ball playing in the backyard. I was relieved to see that I would make good choices even when tempted by food that I really love.

Here's a link to pictures of our new home:

Good morning. I have so much to catch up on and not nearly any time this morning. My boss is back in town and I am loaded with over 30 e-mails from him to sort through. But I will be back in a bit.

On the plus side, I did well maintaining throughout Saturday. Sunday was a different story. I don't know what the heck happened, but we went to the in-laws for FIL's b-day. They had crappy appetizers that I don't even like (chips w/dip, ritz crackers w/a cheese ball), but for some reason it's like I forgot about LAWL and just munched junk. ARGH!!!! At least I thought enough ahead of time to bring myself veggie burgers on a pita instead of the sausages they were grilling. But once I walked in there it was like I forgot I was trying to lose weight. WTF??? So I am up this morning. And drinking lots of water. And getting my act back together so that I can still have a good net loss this week.

I'll check back soon - maybe even w/some personals.

07-02-2007, 10:28 AM
Cassi I believe there was some government testing going on yesterday that resulted in unknown toxins being sprayed in the air that when absorbed by the skin immediately impacted the part of your brain that operates the LAWL, POP and good choices commmand centre resulting in a loss of intelligence indirectly leading to poor food choices, overindulgence and self sabotage.
That is the only reason I can explain why I had a sausage and a half on a bun and some brie yesterday..

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

07-02-2007, 10:31 AM
Kristen - As always, you make me feel better. You rock! Glad to have you back after the British Invasion.

07-02-2007, 11:21 AM
Wendy - I take Wellbutrin, too. I also started it taking it about 9 years ago to quit smoking. I went on Celexa after my DD was born. I tried to go off of them and do it on my own, but then decided to take the Wellbutrin again. You're right, the side effects are minimal. I get the same was a you...more moody and mean than depressed. My tolerence level was zero. But life is better now:)

Dan - You look amazing!

Felicia - I'm glad to see that your weightloss has picked up...keep it up, girlie!!!

Great loss, Cassie...that's awesome!!!

Welcome back, Pearl!!! I'm not sure if you remember me cuz I was here then gone for about 6 months...then came back in April. Great to see you!

Karen - Awesome job on the 20 pounds!! Woohoo!!!

Liza - your pedicure story made me cringe...ouch!

Kristen - I'm praying for your ring, too...let us know when (not if) you find it:)

Felicia - Your new home is gorgeous! I'll bet you are so excited to move in!

Okay...I think I'm pretty much caught up from Friday. If I missed anyone, I apologize...after about 8 pages, I had to start skimming through...chatty weekend, huh?

Good Morning All,

hope that my Canadian friends all survived the Canada Day holiday without to much over indulgence. We bbq burgers last night (the bun was my only cheat all day) so I stepped on the scale this morning praying that I had not put that damned pound back on ..... and woo hoo - I didn't. So my 20 lb loss is still good. I am so excited. This is motivating me to stick to it to lose this final 5. Actually to be honest I have never stuck to a plan for this long before. I used to lose a few pounds, and then fall back into my old habits and before I knew it, the 10 lbs lost found there way home again. So, I am pleased with myself that I am sticking this out.

Actually yesterday when we went to the beach, someone asked me how much weight I had lost. They thought I looked like I had lost more like 30 lbs and told me its time to stop.

Felicia - your house looks lovely. I love the front door. I am always falling in love with the big old wooden doors. We don't have a door like that. DH feels it would not last here in the prairies because its so dry. But I think a front door like that is just beautiful and so warm and welcoming. Congrats.

Kristen - are you feeling our good luck vibes with finding that ring? The power this group has is amazing. I am sure it will turn up. Just a few weeks ago this group was able to deteer a tornado away from I think it was Steph, with all our concern and positive thoughts.

Okay, gotta go and get some stuff done, maybe get a workout in. I'll be back later.

07-02-2007, 11:23 AM
Felicia - your new home is beautiful....even the paint colors on the walls are just my style....and the kitchen is so the backsplash tile! Are you the one that puts your pictures in Publisher and then does a jpeg file? How do you get such nice photo collages done like that. I need to take some classes or practice more with my pictures.

Cassi - for the Finish Challenge, I'll just use the number you gave me last Friday, okay?

Kristen - ring status?

Edited to say hi to Tina and Karen...we were all posting at the same time.

Gotta go..lots of work and stuff to do today.

07-02-2007, 11:35 AM
Tina - Thanks! I can't wait to move in!

Karen - thanks - I love the front door, too. I'm already picturing it with Christmas garland around it! I also love the two big posts outside. There's a matching one inside. All three came from an old sugar mill and were hand cut 150 years ago! The wood on the door frames in the living room came from the same place as did the wood planks over the outside windows. I just love things that have a story!

Joni - thanks! I love the colors, too. Yes, I do collages in Publisher, but the one with my house photos is just a webpage done in Front Page and temporarily added to my (shhhh!) class website.

07-02-2007, 11:45 AM
Mornin' ladies... Where the **** are the guys??!!

I decided to do a TO today and tomorrow, as I enter this final stretch toward goal... Since we don't have any major plans for the 4th, I don't think I'll be tempted too much on the holiday.. Besides, I'll be more into the fireworks aspect of the day...

I don't know.. Maybe I'll smoke that brisket in the freezer...

Joni, congrats on the loss.. Yes, it CAN happen...

Karen - Isn't that a cool feeling? My mom, the person who has always been down on me because of my weight, actually wondered if I shouldn't stop losing weight.

Felicia - Good job at the Chinese place.. Buffets are always tough, but there are ways to make it through, and places that grill the stuff for you are the best!

Cassi - We all have days like that! Go forth and munch no more!

Talk to y'all later!

On edit: OH! I forgot.. Rumor has it that LAWL is going to be starting up again in New Mexico.. I wonder if they will honor old client's contracts?? Probably not, but if they want some good word of mouth, they'll do it!! Stay tuned.. May have only been a rumor, but we'll see....

Morning all! Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. My grandpa's funeral was on Friday. It was nice, I guess. Very difficult, to tell the truth. My sisters and I sang a song called "I Believe". That turned out very nice. It was a relief to get the funeral and burial over with. I guess I still have some lingering sadness to cope with. After the funeral, we decided to go camping, so I spent the whole day Saturday cleaning, shopping, and packing. We are camped along the Teton River, about 10 minutes from my house. Since we are so close, DH and I are coming back into town to go to work today and tomorrow, then back out to the the river after we get off. The rest of my family is off work, so my kids are staying at camp with them while we work.

Pearl- Thrilled to see you back!

Felicia- Your new home is beautiful.

Joni- Way to lose over a weekend, you are amazing!

Cassie- No worries, you will get your groove back!

Wow, Dan, love the side by sides. You are a huge inspiration!

07-02-2007, 11:57 AM
Katie - I'm glad that you made it through the the healing process can begin.

Dan - Out of my own curiosity, I went to the laweightloss website and typed in a zip code from NM, and some centers came up! Maybe that's a good sign...I'm crossing my fingers for you and Liz.

Morning Gals & Guy :-)

Well my weight came off last week (that I gained over a weekend). It was all gone Saturday morn, then this morn. 2 was back. I'm not going to worry about that though.

Something new for me - I found out that my cousin is a dietitian - so I picked his brain and he's given me a meal plan & a little exercise plan. I'm going to give this a whirl for a few months - and see what happens. I hope I'm still welcome on the board though- ya'll are great motivation.

Dan - AMAZING PICS !!!! You must be very proud of yourself! Congrats on the loss so far and best of luck on the rest, I know you can do it !

Felicia - your house is amazing. Thanks for sharing!

Everyone else - not sure how ya'll remember who said & did what - I can normally remember 1 or two. But anyways - Here's to a good week !

07-02-2007, 12:15 PM
Hi everyone - I am officially gall bladder-less.

The surgery was OK, (I guess!) but the surgeon got called into emergency about 1 minute before I was supposed to go in, so I was put on hold for another 1.5 hours. I was literally the last person in the recovery room. Got out around 7PM. Friday night was painful, but each day has gotten better. I almost feel human today. Two of the four 'holes' in my abdomen have been cooperative, the other two not so much, but I think that they are giving up today and will now behave.

Anyway - I now have to go back and catch up on the goings-on for the past week!

Happy POP monday friends!

Karen - Isn't that a cool feeling? My mom, the person who has always been down on me because of my weight, actually wondered if I shouldn't stop losing weight.....

Dan .... your right it is an awesome feeling! I also love the feeling of pulling out cothes from last summer that I haven't worn yet, and they are way to big! That is also an awesome feeling. Guess I have to go shopping!

Felicia, I can see your door with the Christmas garland as well - beautiful. The paint colors are very similar to the colors in my house. I love the earth tones, and rusts. So warm and cozy feeling. Your home is gonna be gorgeous all decorated.

Karen- 20 lbs!!!! That's awesome!!! We all knew you could do it! Those 5 lbs will probably be gone before you can snap your fingers. KUTGW!!! Thanks for the cheer! At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I can't figure out what KUTGW stands for - sorry.:dizzy:

Oh yeah, and Hi Joni

Katie, glad the funeral is over and you are doing okay. Were all here for you if you need us.

Kim - glad to see you back, we have been concerned about you. Hope you are feeling better soon! I am sure you are anxious to get back on the golf course.

07-02-2007, 12:25 PM
Glad your surgery went well, Kim. Good to have you back...

07-02-2007, 12:27 PM
Kim-Glad you're doing ok with your recovery!

Kristen-Sorry to hear about the lost ring :-(. Hope you find it.

Pearl is back??? Woooo hooooo welcome back Pearl, you were missed!

I have NO idea what else went on over the weekend. I'll never get caught up! LOL To all who had losses congrats, to all who are struggling, hang in there, we can do this!

I went to the Dr. Friday for my 6 week check up, first time I had seen him since the surgery. He kept saying WOW, I'm amazed and I did the surgery! LOL Made me feel great! I cant believe its been 6 weeks already. I'm still doing weight loss instead of stabilization until I get the munchies back under control, ughhh!!

Hope everybody has a great week and survives the 4th. We have a huge family reunion at my uncles house at the lake. Supposed to be a whopping 94 Wednesday. Maybe I'll stay in the water and away from the table! LOL

07-02-2007, 12:34 PM
To our two Kims - 1. Glad the surgery went well and here's hoping for a speedy recovery!!! 2. You know it's a good sign when your own doctor is amazed at his work.. Or maybe it's not such a good sign for his other patients...

Karen - Yeah.. The shopping can be a good thing... And for me, a guy, to now enjoy shopping, it's a miracle.. I'm also now able to wear some shirts I haven't worn since college (sometimes you just can't let go of somethings) and that was 15+ years ago!

07-02-2007, 12:38 PM
Hi all!
Trying to catch up and hopefully keep up! Lots of new faces and that's always exciting!

Thanks for the warm welcome back! I told Cassi that true friends are the ones that let you come back home even after you move from the neighborhood! :grouphug:

I'll post a separate thread for the "followup" to TO. It seems to really work for dh and I. Although I'll admit, I did gain a little back but it was my own fault for bad choices.

Loved seeing so many of my old friends still here (Hmmmm, I guess I should have been sorry they were still here.... okay, now I'm an emotional mess! Am I supposed to be glad you're here or not?!?) :lol3:

Joni - My dear friend, glad you had a miraculous weekend! I think you deserved it just for all the pms you've sent me that I couldn't even read!

Katie - love the new avatar (at least new to me) Sorry to hear about your GF. Take time to mourn the loss and dwell on the wonderful memories of his life and how rich your life has been because of him. Soon those memories will bring comfort instead of pain!

Kristen - I know I'm coming in on the tail end of the ring loss thing, (and I absolutely understand the sentimental attachment!) but I'm getting this gutt feeling that perhaps along with your vow renewal which is a time of new beginnings, that a new ring might have some sort of purpose?!? Maybe an outer symbol of the past being the past and of a new, fresh, future full of hope and excitement. I don't know.... it just seems like as soon as I read your post and prayed about it for you, it got that.
Hope I didn't step out of bounds on that one... I know I've been gone for a while. So if I offended you, I repent. I'm still praying for you to find it, I promise!!! :)

Okay, I gotta go make dh an omelette and send him off to work.

Oh, Pearl, thank you. How great that your DH has done so well.

07-02-2007, 12:53 PM
OK - I am starting fresh with this week.

Felicia- love, love the new house. While I don't envy you having to pack up your life and move it, I know that you will make it a home in no time flat!!!

Letisha - Good for you getting rid of the friday hangers-on. Good luck with making some good choices tonight.

Kristen - I hope DH finds his ring. I love that you melted down sentimental things to make them. If he can't find it, maybe you can melt down yours and re-design two new ones. I know it won't be the same, but it could signify the next stage in your lives.

Joni - WTG on the weekend loss. See what a 6 mile walk will do?

Dan - thanks for the well- wishes. and the side-be side photo is amazing. A total makeover!

Katie - I totally missed the fact that your grandpa died. I hope that you and your sisters are able to cheer each other up.

Karen - congrats on hitting 20#! I am totally dying to play golf - I am hoping that I can by Saturday.

Pearl - sigh. what can I say. I have warm fuzzies.

My Mom and sis just called and they are coming over... so, gotta go! (and quickly pick up the house! LOL)

Morning everyone!!!!

Well the vacation did not do me in!!!! I went to WI this morning and was down 3.2 from my last loss at the center for a total of 6.2 loss since I started back 2 weeks ago. I will certainly take that :carrot:

I did not eat or drink anything before WI but had my breakfast and water in the car for the ride home lol. So far I am POP today. I did not really exercise last week other than some swimming but plan to get back to that today as well. So all in all I am very pleased and I wanted to be down 10 lbs but I knew that was kind of unrealistic but I was close! I would have settled for 5lbs lol. I am at work and my desk looks a mess a total mess. So as soon as I finish this I will be cleaning it off and then getting to some work before lunch.

Letisha: TY and I hope your WI goes well!!!

Joni: WTG on being down over the weekend.

Felicia: Sounds like you had a good weekend and great choices at the Chinese place. I LOVE your new house!!!! That front door is to die for!!! When do you get to move in?

Cassie: Good job on Saturday!! You will have that sunday gain off in no time!!

Kristen: HAHA!! I like your theory!!!

Karen: sounds like you had a good holiday! Congrats on keeping those 20lbs off!!!:carrot:

Dan: Good Luck on TO!!!!!!

Katie: Thoughts and prayers are with you. Enjoy your family time.

Snowdogs: love the attitude about the little gain it will be gone soon!

Kim(NY): glad everything went well!!!

Kim(TN): glad the checkup went well. GL at the lake!!!! Hey what part of TN are you in again? I think I have asked you this before lol but i forget :dizzy:

Ok I am off to work on this crazy desk of mine check in later......

One bad bit of news is that in the craziness of everyone here on Saturday last week for the after rewedding party and then them all back on Sunday.. somehow DH has lost his wedding ring.
Kristen DH did the same darn thing, but after our original ceremony. I was like 7 months pregnant with 4 yo DS, and he left me home in the hot hot hot weather and went tubing with his friends (whith my blessing), and lost his ring in the bottom of the lake. I was crazy with hormones, and when he told me, I burst out laughing. We bought a new one. Just a plain one :) His original had diamonds and all that

Pearl.....what can I say......this board is now complete. I posted to you on Joni's "Pearl's back," thread....but just wanted to say how happy I am that you are back :) Joni is the missing persons investigator.......and I am the missing persons worrier :)

Kim........glad your divorce went smooth :) I hope you are golfing by the end of the week :)

Hello to everyone else......I am trying to pack to leave for Wisconsin today. What a true test to my POPness. I was good all weekend, and probably would have seen a loss had I not eaten a pickle I am sure I will have a decent loss by friday and begin winning the challenge to the finish challenge. Look out.

My sis left yesteday to go back to Wisconsin with 4 of my kids, and hit a deer. Everyone is ok, but her car is messed up bad. I think we are going to rent a car for her, and we will all be leaving tonight. I was so sick to my stomach last night waiting for DH to get back with all of them, that I thought for sure I would have had a loss this NOT. The kids did really well, but 4 yo DS was terrified.........not because of the crash......but because he was sure that the animals in the forest would be mad at them for killing a deer, and come out of the woods and get them..........

anyway......i must go finish (or start) packing now.......but I will try to check back before we go.

Nicole- How scary! I am so glad that they are all okay. Thank goodness that the evil deer gods did not unleash their wrath upon your sis and kids!

Britt- Good losses, great job!

Kimphin- Thanks. My younger sister Kara's baby is due in 4 weeks, and she is just so ready she could pop. I think that bringing a new life into the family is just what we need right now. Have I mentioned that I get to be there when the baby is born? I am the official camera lady. How exciting is that?

07-02-2007, 03:24 PM
That is soooo cool, Katie. I've never seen a real life birth up close and personal.

Nicole - I'm glad that your sis and family are okay.

07-02-2007, 03:30 PM
Hello everyone! Sounds like you all are doing great!

I just got back from my morning W/I and am down another 3 pounds! I am so thrilled. I was hoping to be close to 20 by my bday on 7/7 so this just motivates me to keep going. I did pretty good this weekend...lots of lean protein and lots of water! We didn't eat out at all so that really helped.

Letisha- great job girl!! I'm gonna have to check out that fitTV

Felicia- LOVE the new house. The colors and details are what really make it so homey even with nothing in it! It will be such a great feeling to start fresh and get to decorate (my favorite!)

Britt- way to go with the loss! Sometimes even non POP but OP days still give you great results. That's awesome!

Kim- so glad everything went smoothly! Sounds like it was a long day...i hope you have a speedy recovery!

Pearl- I can tell already why you were missed---you give such inspirational words!

Katie- glad you made it through the funeral ok. only time can heal the wounds now.

Nicole- good luck in WI with your family!!

07-02-2007, 03:44 PM
Nicole: glad that everyone is ok and have fun on your trip!!!!

hey everyone. just checking in for the day. work was crazy. normally mondays are the slowest day of the week. but lately they have been nothing but insane.
so...i got on the scale this morning after my weekend of drinking..again..and i've actually managed to maintain! wow. i was shocked to say the least. so now that i've gotten that out of my system, my focus is back and hopefully i'll lose another 5lbs before my trip again to SD.

off to workout. gonna pop in a dvd this week, since i've been doing the elliptical over and over and over again for months. :)

07-02-2007, 04:10 PM
Well, I had a brain fart, I posted this earlier...on the wrong thread.

Good morning!

I've been lurking for a couple days, but I didn't take good notes, so I won't even try to do personals.

I guess I'm gonna do this one pound at a time, as I was down 1 lb again at this week's WI. It's something so I'm good, not happy...but good.

We are going camping with the family for five days on Wed. I'm going to try really hard to stay OP, and I'm definitely going to do some hiking and riding my bike. Maybe next Monday's WI will be better.

Have a great day everyone!

Letisha-good on you staying POP!

Joni – a loss on a weekend? It is a miracle:) You must be proud.

Felicia – good for you making good choices in the face of temptation. Congrats on the beautiful house!

Cassi – you will be pop and back where you should be. Tell yourself what you would tell us, do not beat yourself up.

Kristen – can you predict those toxins ahead of time or can we only find out after the fact? :)

Tina – “life is better now”, I’m glad for you.

Karen – Congrats on the compliment – how nice for you to hear.

Dan – your photos are amazing. Keep us posted on the LAWL in NM status.

Katie – glad you have the services behind you. Camping and working? Amazing!

Snowdogs – it always helps to have extra resources! Great news about your cousin.

Kim/Kimphin – god to have you back. Looking forward to hearing you’re feeling totally human. Good luck on the ring. It has to be somewhere.

Kim/momofthreeteens – Glad recovery is going so well. That is something to amaze your own surgeon.

Pearl – good to meet you. Today starts my second week. Sounds like I’ll learn a lot from you.

Britt – you lost on vacation? I am in awe.

Nicole – so glad everyone is ok. Isn’t it interesting what kids worry about?

Amy – 3 pounds? That is a giant loss (to me anyway). Good work!

Well, unofficially I am down 3.2 lbs since starting last Monday. I know it is not a huge first week loss, but I am happy with it. I go tomorrow to get my official weigh in. I’ll have to go after work as I have a waxing appointment during lunch tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone for the holiday week. I am hosting a cook out and birthday party for dh so I’ll do my best.

:wave:Hi All.....I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend.....

I had a relitively quiet weekend....didn't eat enough food this weekend so I was afraid that the scale wasn't going to be friendly to me this morning at WI....but to my surprise I was down 1.8 lbs. I seem to see a pattern here...down on Mondays and back where I started on Friday minus a couple of tenths. I'm really going to try hard so I can give everyone in the Finish Challenge a run for their money. :D

Joni - my scale was down this morning also...Don't you just love those Monday mornings when that happens!

Felicia - Love the new house - glad you had a good visit with your high school friend.

Karen - WHOOOO HOOOO 20 lbs!!!!!

Kristen - I hope DH finds his ring

Cassie - No'll be back on track today.........

Katie - enjoy your family and camping....

Snowdogs - good luck with the new plan ....if you have great success you may just have to do a little sharing with us;)

Kimphin - so glad your surgery went well and your on the road to recovery!

Britt - congrats on the 3.2 loss

Nicole - sorry to hear about the accident....been there, done that and it can be really scarey. Ya'll be careful on your trip and have fun.

Hi to all that I's to a POP week!

07-02-2007, 05:18 PM
Hi everyone!

Just one hour till WI! Looks like I'm only down 1 lb according to my scale since last week. I know I'm retaining water with this heat because my feet have been swollen all weekend (not just because of the rogue pedicure either) so we'll see what COD's scale says.

I laughed last night when my friend was talking about her 4th party that I am being roped into. She was started listing all of the things she's making and I was saying I won't be having that, or that, or that, or that. Her boyfriend laughed at me and said we can sit in the corner with the dogs. He's a recovering addict and alcoholic and it's hard for him to be around the heavy drinking but he manages. So no drinking for him, no bad eating for me. I imagine we'll be taking a lot of walks to resist temptation.

I'm still getting used to not having Mini-Me here. It's hard to sleep because I'm used to having that other person in the house. Even the pets are out of sorts and fidgeting all night. They're all getting shaved in between shifts today with the new clippers I bought. See I have an exciting job, but my life outside of that is pretty boring. I look forward to things like shaving animals.

Onto some of the personals

Katie - I'm glad you made it through the funeral so well. I was thinking about you. How exciting to be there for your sisters baby!

Carrie - you've been quiet lately! Good job on the loss!

In fact, good job to everyone on the losses and staying POP!

Nicole - good luck on your trip!

Kim - glad to hear your parting ceremony with the gallbladder went well and your recovery is good.

Kim II - Your surgeon is right, he did a beautiful job on your tummy. Has it changed how you wear clothes? I haven't worn anything tucked in, even when thin since 1988. I want a tuck so bad so I can tuck my clothes in!

Holly - Good job on the 3.2 loss! That is a great loss for a first week!

I wasn't POP on Saturday but was yesterday and am still on track today. I'll keep it up... I didn't feel that great when I went off plan on Saturday. Now it's time to get going and get ready for WI and more work. Gotta wash all of this dog and cat hair off of me....

07-02-2007, 05:23 PM
Holly yes I did lose over my vacation but I was really motivated before I left to stay OP because I had such a great week my first week back. I even tried to find a COD where I was on vacation but the closest one was like over an hour away. I made sure I had my water towards the end of the vacation I was not getting all my water in but was getting some. The bad thing is I leave sunday for Vegas and I am crossing my fingers for another really good week this week to keep me motivated for next week. I am not sure how well I will be able to control the food because I am staying with a friend and her family and well she asked me if I liked Thai food so i will get to try some new things I guess lol.

Ok I need to go cruise the recipes and find something for dinner ill be back!!!!

07-02-2007, 05:55 PM
Lizababe - what breed of dogs do you have again?
I'm a groomer (PT) and I always giggle when people say they have dog hair all over. :-) And then I cringe when people say they need to shave their dogs - people with Labs & Goldens often get the crazy idea of shaving their dogs and it actually doesn't reduce shedding.
I have 2 Alaskan Malamutes - I bathed them on Saturday - you should see the PILE of hair I brushed out of 1 of them LOL. I could have made a small dog with it.

Good luck at the Party, I know you can make smart decisions :-)

07-02-2007, 06:07 PM
Snowdogs - beautiful furbabies you have! My dog is an Australian Shepherd. Don't worry, he wasn't entirely shaved. I just did his bottom and underbelly where he gets poop stuck. I took him to a groomer last summer. He broke one girls nose and left a nice scar under the guys eye. This, after I warned them not to try to kiss him no matter how tempting. He doesn't like strangers in his face. He didn't bite, he headbutted them both. He won't do things like that to me so I decided to take care of it from myself from thereon. I take the undercoat rake to him about once a month and could open a shelter and create a new line of aussies from the piles of hair!

The one that DOES need to be shaved is the cat. He's a siamese/main coon mix and has very very thick and fine hair that mats up within minutes of being brushed when it's hot. He's been shaved every summer since he was 3 (he's 10 now) and just loves it. He purrs and rolls over at the correct times. The groomer actually just loves him. She's never had to put a restraint on him. usually we just do a cocker cut and he looks so cute. A couple of times he's gotten an over zealous groomer who gave him a lion cut. When he gets that one he just stares at me like "why?"

Ok really gotta get running. I'm late for WI/work

07-02-2007, 06:36 PM
LOL about the cat :-) Maine Coons are awesome looking cats.
We have the 2 Mals and 1 GSP and 3 DSH cats.

I like Aussies- you're right they look sweet & kissable :-) Heck, who does like strangers in their face :-)

Did you know you can save that hair and send it away to be spun into yarn & made into things like hats & scarfs etc? Cool huh ! I haven't done it yet but some of the Mal rescues do that for fundraisers.

Thanks for the nice comments about my kids!

Hi all

I went to WI on Saturday and was officially put on Maintenance!

The food diary is OPTIONAL on maitenance! Yay! I have written down what I ate for about the last 10 months. I'm ready for a break from it.

They want you to cut down to one LA light a day. Which surprised me after they had such a high pressured sales pitch to buy them for your whole year of maintenance. Of course, If you want you can stick with the portions in your original weight loss plan and keep your bar...

Also only once a week weigh in's... :carrot:

Felicia, Love the house. Love the tile in the kitchen and the light fixtures. My daughter's name is Elizabeth too. I called her Beth when she was really young, so of course as soon as she got to middle school she nixed that and wanted to be Lizzy, which with our last name of Bohringer, she ended up being called Lizzy Borden... and then I was Lizzy Borden's mom:dizzy:

Kristin, Hope the ring shows up. I prayed you'd find it too.

Karen, 20 Pounds!! Way to go. I also lost about same 15 pounds about 5 times before I came to LAWL... It wasn't that I couldn't lose weight, I just was having a hard time making any changes permanent.

Kim, Hope you are back to golfing and feeling great so soon.

Holly 3.2 pounds is great for a first week.

Lizababe, try to enjoy the break! Mothering is hard work! Plus you have a hectic schedule. You are blessed to want to spend time with your 16 year old.

07-02-2007, 09:44 PM
LOL I already have enough hair in my clothes... When I tried to make some cute scarves as gifts a few years ago I joked that the yarn was spun with cat hair. (It was, but not on purpose) S**tty Kitty's siamese background is flame point, but you can see the maine coon in his body structure and striped tail. I'll put a few pictures on here. One of the stupid haircut, one of him fluffy and then one to show how big he is (with stupid antlers, it's a wonder he hasn't run away)

07-02-2007, 09:47 PM
omg liza! i am so in love with you kitties! i love cats so much and we recently just got one (in april)..his name is scooter and he's a riot. i can't wait til he gets bigger and fatter! :) absolutely adorable! so puffy and lovey looking! awwwwww!!

07-02-2007, 09:48 PM
Barbara CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You made it!!! woo hoo!!!

I had WI today. Only down 1/2 lb since last Monday but I'm also holding water like a sponge. I did the lemon water, etc to get it all out but it's still there. They could see my hands and feet are swollen so they were pretty forgiving about that. I hope I'll wake up before Thursdays WI and just tinkle out 5 lbs. TMI I know...

07-02-2007, 10:02 PM
Hi everybody,

Long weekend is over up here but I am off tomorrow too so I don't go back to work till wed and then I am off next monday and tues before my training starts again. My birthday is next week too so I wanted to make sure I had that booked off as I usually do even though nothing is planned.

I have a drs appt tomorrow to get my regular shot and then its off to COD for the first time in a few weeks. I have been good the last few days and I plan to keep it up as best I can.

Joni - I made the homemade frosty paws and they were a hit. Chancey loved hers and I got 8 out of it for her. I did them in 1/2 cup servings as she is a big dog. I doubled the recipe too.

Had a bit of a bad day yesterday with the ex but hopefully that's it for awhile. He tries every once in awhile to get touchy about the dog and me seeing her but so far we work it through. It isn't him. I know it is the new live in girlfriend but he doesn't push it too far yet. I keep thinking I hopefully only have to do this for a few more months and then I don't have to go over there anymore. Here's to hoping.

Not much else new. I haven't done much over the weekend.

For all the Users out there enjoy your July 4!!

07-02-2007, 10:11 PM
Hi all!

I took a brief hiatus while I had to entertain out of town colleagues last week, and then spent a long weekend camping. I'm very very afraid to WI, and debating if I should try a POP week before I do. My rings are still nice and loose, but I've been tricked by them before, only to find out I'd gained. I'm still mulling this decision over...

I'm only going to catch up starting today...

I read that Pearl is back..welcome back Pearl!!

Felicia -- Good job at the restaurant. I have to be feeling pretty strong to do as well as you did. Great decisions. I just love your new home! The colours are right up my alley. When do you move in?

Cassi & Kristen -- Ahhh...the toxins must have been responsible for me eating 5-6 toasted marshmallows and a hot dog after preparing a LAWL friendly campfire dinner of chicken, cauliflower, broccoli & new potatoes. The toxin also made the healthy food taste bad, leaving me hungry enough to eat a mini thingy of Cheetos too.

Katie -- I'm so sorry to hear that your grandfather passed away. Camping is such a nice way to ground yourself and to really 'feel' what you are feeling. We got back to nature this weekend too.

Snowdogs -- My trick for personals is to right click on the reply button, and choose "open in a new window", then I can flip back and forth and type in comments as I read along. Good luck with your new plan. What types of things did your cousin recommend?

Kim -- Farewell to your gall bladder! When does golfing begin again?

TN Kim -- If I had your new tummy I'd laze around in my swimsuit all day long. If you're tempted to munch just grab a piece of celery and pretend you're a hollywood celebrity who couldn't possibly eat another stalk without hurling. Just tell yourself that the potato salad has probably gone bad in the sun. ;)

Dan -- I love your new side by sides too! I didn't even realize it was you (duh!) until someone else mentioned it.... for some reason I thought it was someone who inspires you. Instead it's you being inspiring! lol

Kristen -- I missed the story of the lost ring, but I wanted to mention that my DH's ex-wife always prays to St. Anthony when she loses things, and so does my step mother, and they both ALWAYS find them. My stepmom lost her diamond from her ring after her first husband passed away, and she was so upset. She prayed to St. Anthony, and she said it was as though he took her by the hand and led her to the spot on the carpet (in a 300 sq ft room) where it was laying. Just a thought for you. Good luck in finding it.

Nicole -- I'm so glad to hear everyone was okay after the accident with the deer. It's so cute that your 4 yo thought the animals would be angry.

CA Amy -- Congrats on losing 3lbs!

Paula -- 1lb is great, 4 sticks of butter as Debbie in TN always says.

Holly -- 3.2 lbs is a super start!

Carrie -- I have the same frustrating pattern. I'm going to really hit the plan hard for the rest of the summer.

07-02-2007, 10:12 PM

Try eating some asparagus the night before you weigh in, sometimes that works better than the lemon water for me if I'm retaining one of the great lakes. One counselor even recommended drinking the water the asparagus is boiled in, but that didnt' sound too appealing.

07-02-2007, 10:52 PM
well all was going well until tonight! my dfs came home from his extended visit and as normal he was a total terror....don't get me going on how they are ruining this child with all of this back and by the time my husband got home I was totally stressed. So at dinner...i gave in and ate two extra rolls. I've made them several times since starting again...and no problem but tonight i caved!

i am hoping not to see drastic problems on the scale tomorrow at WI and I keep praying that I don't give in and go back downstairs and eat for the wrong reasons. I know it's all emotional right now......

So tomorrow I start again....POP on Tuesday! later guys and dolls!

07-02-2007, 11:58 PM
Snowdogs (I'm sorry I don't have your first name) Buster does look very kissable. The first time someone leans in, he *does* give a kiss and it's so sweet. It's when they go in for a second that he headbutts. Probably because he's not allowed to lick my face so he thinks he's tricking them by doing it the first time. When they want more he thinks something's up! I just put a picture of all of us on my profile page from the day we got him from the Aussie Rescue.

Barbara - Thank you for the asparagus tip! I've never heard that one... I'll make sure to try it on wed night!

Princess Heather - I'm sorry for the complications with DFS. Back and forth is very hard on kids and even when going back and forth from two very good homes, they need a "de-bugging period" before they're back to normal. It used to happen with my daughter when she saw her Dad more regularly. I had to just let her do her thing for a couple of hours and then come to me when she wanted. The two extra rolls was a minor lapse in judgment but not a plan breaker. Stay strong tonight, nibble on some veggies if you need to eat and drink plenty of water. Tomorrow is another day for POP and every day for the rest of your life.

Jillian - You MUST post a picture of Scooter!!!! I've had these cats for 10 years. I can't imagine not having them with me!

Alannah - I'm sorry to hear about the stress with the ex and the new GF. Obviously, she's threatened or guilty or both by your presence. That is not your problem. Just keep telling yourself "This too shall pass" and look to the future when it won't be a hassle anymore. And you could always tell her the ex is her problem now. You just want the dog!

I'm wiped out. I just can't sleep without Mini Me here and neither can the animals. I just took some tylenol pm along with my night time supplements so I'm going to CRASH as soon as I have a little chicken and veggies to make sure I got everything in for the day. Night night everyone!

07-03-2007, 12:28 AM
Liza - hope you got a good nights sleep...Cute family photo with Buster and minime included, and I love the cat shots........

Alannah - glad Chancey enjoyed the Frosty Paws! Did you try them?..they really are tasty! Sounds like you are holding your ground (and visitation) with Chancey. Hopefully soon you'll be able to see him on your own turf and not have to ruffle any feathers back at 'his' place.

Hey gang..

Well, I finally got assigned to a fire that's actually a going concern.. I'm out the door early, heading up for the northwest part of the state, near the city of Farmington. We picked up a 200 acre fire this afternoon, burning on private and federal land. This land also happens to be home to a whole bunch of gas wells. None have burned, as luckily, it's the law to keep all vegetation away from them, but you never know..

But the State Forester wanted me to head up there to deal with the media types and chat with people about fire prevention, etc... Not sure if I'm staying in a motel or pitching a tent, but I figured I'd say ta ta for now, in case I'm going to have to camp out for the next several days..

I'm not too thrilled that I'm going to be missing a holiday off with the family, but duty calls...

I also decided not to both with a TO, as trying to deal with that and fire camp food would be just too difficult... Plus, since I was busy working tonight and Liz was working out, we ordered pizza.. And I have to say I over did it a bit.. opps...

Anyway.. Be one with your POP, and maybe I'll see you all soon, if I get a decent motel!

07-03-2007, 04:11 AM
Good evening (morning) all. Today (yesterday) was a good day for me. Several of my "regulars" commented on how much weight I had lost in the last couple of weeks and that always puts a little hitch in my gitty-up! :jig:

Snowdogs - I know I don't know you (yet), but I can tell you from experience, you're welcome here and you always will be! I'm proof of that! As for the pups and shedding, our German Shepherd is in what we call "molting" mode... OMG - it is sooooo bad! I'm glad my Yoshon doesn't shed because I couldn't take it! Your pups are beautiful! What great babies!!!

Kimphin - Sorry to hear you had surgery but so glad to hear it went well and you're on the road to recovery! Please remember - don't over do it. It really was major surgery, even if it doesn't seem like it! As for the warm fuzzies - back at ya! As soon as I saw your gorgeous face - I had 'em too! ;)

Kim - Thanks for the welcome. Your photo is awesome!

Britt - 6.2 in 2 is GREAT! What a come back! It's great to see you again!

Nicole - You're so sweet! I don't know about complete now that I'm back, but you know it'll be busier! (I DO know how to post!!!) I remember both times I got that call from dh about his accidents. The first time it was a huge buck that did $4000 damage to the truck but dh was fine (WHEW!) The second time, it was black ice and a tree and dh was NOT fine! Three years later and he still experiences some minor complications from it. I just SO thankful to have him with me! So, I know what you had to go through and it stays with you for a while!

Amy - Okay, so you're a sweety! I don't know about "inspirational", but I'm certainly known here for cutting to the chase and putting it out there!

Jillian - Sounds like the scale was good to you this A.M. :goodscale:
Personally, I'd rather "chew" my calories! :lol3:

Paula - My motto all along has been, "One day at a time, one meal at a time and sometimes, one mouthful at a time"! With all that fresh air and exercise, there's no telling what your WI will be! Just try and look out for yourself by taking along some POP foods just in case! :stir:

Holly - luv your name! So you're one of the babies in the group! Just a couple of weeks?!? 3.2 and going strong!!! :high: Sounds like you were really thinking ahead when you decided to host the cookout because you have control of what is served and of course - what you'll eat!!! So plan, plan, plan and have a great time! A cookout is absolutely do-able and you won't have to feel cheated or shorted in any way! Go for it - you can do it! :burger:

Carrie - do you keep a food journal? That might be a way to find out what you're doing on weekends that works and what you're doing throughout the week that isn't working as well. I know for dh and I, it's the opposite. We're always up on Monday because we have a meal out on Sundays with our boys after church (can you say "salt"?!?) :jeno:

Liza - It took me a few pages to figure out who/what Mini-Me was! (okay, so I'm dense!) Now I know from your photos that she is actually a gorgeous young lady just like her... Sister?!?... Mother?!? I'm not a cat person at all although I don't dislike them, I just had a bad experience with a couple I tried to save from a shelter... but yours are adorable! If they cuddle as much as they look cuddly, OMG!!! You and your friends boysfriend can hold one another accountable at the party! What a great thing!!! I love it when I'm around folks that know I'm a healthy eater - it makes staying on track easier for me! Hope that will work for you too sweety!

BarbaraB - Congrats on Maintenance! :dancer: You just joined in June?!? Wow - you've done great!

Alannah - HEY GIRLFRIEND!!! I've thought of you often over the past few months. So glad to see you!!! (love your avatar! You're adorable!)

Angie - Yep, I'm BBBAAAACCCCKKKKK! (that was my Arnold S. impression!)
I say, face the music and go on to WI!!! What the heck?!? Your COD has seen it all by now so why put it off?!? After all, you're paying THEM for THEIR services... go get some of your money's worth!!! :D

Heather - You know what's causing it - now find a way to channel your frustration/stress in a more productive way! If you need a way to "work it off", wash a couple of windows, re-arrange some furniture, go for a walk... if you need a way to escape it for a while, put on music or take a calming bath. Pull up a chair and read a book, color in a coloring book with dfs, or read a magazine. Call a friend, blow bubbles with dfs, build something out of blocks with dfs, plan a fun day with dfs,.. I know you can find something that will put you close to a POP goal! Come on girlfriend - YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Dan - You look amazing, congrats on your amazing success! As for the fire... I'll be praying for your safety and success and the safety of your associates as well! Thank you for what you are about to do!

Well, as you can see, it's been a long day. I closed tonight and of course, it was busy since it was "dollar bowling day". Dh will be home in another hour or so, so I think I'll try and stay up until he gets here.
I'll see ya'll tomorrow!

07-03-2007, 07:50 AM
Good Morning! Just wanted to check and let everyone know how inspiring this site is for me. Yesterday was my first POP day in weeks and I even walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes. :woops:

I keep reading everyone's posts so I can get to know the group. Hope that is okay and that you don't mind me jumping in sometimes.

Good luck to everyone today, hope you have a POP kinda day!:goodvibes

07-03-2007, 09:31 AM
Good morning group. Did I mention how happy I am to have Pearl back? Had a little insomnia last night and was awake from 2-4:30. Came here around 3:30, but I missed Pearl by just a bit.

Dan - Sorry you're away from the family for the holiday. Stay safe. And be one with your POP!

Gotta get some work done, but wanted to say hi to everyone.

07-03-2007, 09:56 AM
Morning everyone!!!

just a quick hello this morning as I am heading downstairs to make my breakfast and pack my lunch. I will be at the teacher center most of the day today working on things for my classroom!

I finally got my labor day ticker up and I decided to go big for this challenge and do 25lbs. I am happy to report that my scales says I am down another pound this am but I will wait till WI on Friday for an official change in status. I had really forgotten about them being closed Wednesday that is a normal WI day for me. So friday will be the big day. I hope to be down another 2lbs for the week and if I keep up the POP days maybe it will be more :).

Thanks for the congrats Pearl and it is so good to be back!!!!

OK if i dont go now I will be late check in later!!

07-03-2007, 10:04 AM
Heading for WI this morning and then I'm off to finish moving from my current classroom and into my new one. I need to get that out of the way since we'll be moving into our new house on August 1st!

07-03-2007, 10:05 AM
Katy - glad to have you and only by posting will we get to know you! Congrats on your POP week and workout!

Now y'all can see why we missed Pearl so much!

I know Dan's headed out, but here's to your safe return. Already looking for your return posts. If you had one of those iPhones, maybe you could keep in touch anywhere they send you?? Liz, if you are reading, hope you and the kids enjoy your holiday.

I finally got to sample the Almond Breeze milk yesterday at a running expo for the Peachtree Road Race. They had the vanilla, sweetened one and it was soooooooooo goooooooooooood! That is definitely on my next shopping list. The chocolate was good too, but has three times the calories as the vanilla flavor; and when I asked the guy about the unsweeted, he made an ugly face.

Cassi - regarding the above...PLEASE HELP. Any idea what the 'sweetened' counts as? I just read your post from the LA Chef... Vanilla Almond Breeze; You can have 8 ounces of the vanilla Almond Breeze unsweetened milk as 1/2 Dairy exchange.

07-03-2007, 10:22 AM
Joni - Unofficially, I've been counting it as 1/2D and a condiment. Told the COD and she was OK with it since it's 20 calories more than the unsweetened, and Publix can't get the unsweetened. I spoke w/the manager and the vendor. He showed me the order list and it's not there. There was something that said "Almond Breeze, Original DRK", but I don't know what that is. I may have them order it and see what comes in since they don't make a "dark almond breeze".

07-03-2007, 11:07 AM
Hi my little chickens. I think I am at the point where I can be back on plan. It is really amazing to see how the body heals itself. Each day I feel leaps and bounds better. It is going be beautiful here today (and then get crappy for the rest of the week) so I am going to venture outside and do a 'little' gardening.

Britt - great job on vacation. Hope you get your desk in order soon - I HATE that!!!!

Nicole - I am glad that no one was hurt!!! Your DS is too cute. I would feel the same way.

Amy - ooh - 3 lbs!!!! 20 will be a great b-day present

Holly - good luck at WI - don't worry about comparing your losses to others, take it from me!!! You will make yourself crazy. Enjoy every step you get toward goal.

Liza - sorry you and your furbabies are missing mini-me. If yours are anything like mine, most of the fidgeting is because one of them saw the clippers and told the others. I always laugh and tell people that I finally have a doll who's hair grows back after I cut it.

Angie - eh, go to WI, if it's bad, the pain is quick. On the flip side, if it's good, you can be happy all day!

Barbara - OK, I'm all for getting rid of excess water... but... YUk on the asparagus water. I draw the line there. Ew.

Dan - good luck and be careful.

Cassi - I'll be interested to see what Dark Almond Breeze turns out to be.... I'm a little scared. I do love the sweetened vanilla.

OK, I just called my DH to ask him to stop at the grocery store on the way home and in the middle of asking him... I realized that I CAN DRIVE!!! Woo hoo!!! It's day 5(or close enough). I'm not going far - just around the corner to the farm stand. How exciting!

Gotta go and re-acquaint myself with my Murano!

07-03-2007, 11:13 AM
Hi everyone!

I'll just be lurking DD is sick so I'm home with her. I probably won't get to be on the computer much today. If I don't get to post again, have a POP 4th of July!!!

07-03-2007, 11:31 AM
Hi Everybody......Well, overslept this morning and didn't get to get my workout in. On the positive side though, I did go to the gym yesterday morning and got my 60 min. of cardio in and 20 min. of weights and went on a 40 min. bike ride last night so maybe if I can get a bike ride in tonight I won't feel as though I'm cheating myself. Sometimes, I feel so exhausted, it's everything I can do just to get myself to work in the mornings. Enough of my complaining.....

Angie - It's always scary when you take a break, but you know as they say....just start from today and more forward - it will be fine and you'll be losing again before you know it...

Heather - so sorry to hear about DFS situation. That has to be confusing for him not to mention the stress it puts on the family - stay strong - you can do it.

Liza- love your cats!!!! and I'm not even a cat person, more of a dog person.

Dan - sounds like an adventurous job - be safe!

Pearl - I do keep a food journal, the only difference on the weekends is I don't follow plan because I'm running around so much. Councelor can't figure out if the gain is a delayed reaction from the weekend or the loss if from the poor eating on the weekends? Crazy...but we'll get it figured out.

Cassie, Katy, Joni, Barbara, Alannah, Nicole, Britt:wave:

Felicia - good luck at WI today, and happy moving.....sounds like your going to be doing a lot of it for the next couple of months

Sorry if I missed anyone.....have a great day!:)

Morning all--there are so many I want/need to respond too, and then again--there are so MANY!!! So I will send a blanket HELLO, CONGRATS, GOOD LUCK, SAFE TRAVELS, and GET BACK ON THE TRAIN--there--that should cover everyone. Back from the folks and DD#1 came back with me--wants to hang out with her friends. They are having MAJOR rains in Texas (parts) and the lake my folks live at is up like 20 feet or something crazy. There is normally about 50 yards of land between them and the water and now it's about 3 feet!!! My dad is fishing off his patio right now. Kinda scary but they are slightly above dam level so worst case they will lose their deck and yard before the water goes over the dam but thank God, their house is safe enough. We can hope and pray it doesn't come up anymore but it's not likely right now since they are expecting rain all week.

Okay--all for now--my house is a wreck--not sure anything was done while I was away--not that I expected it but now I have lots of laundry, unpacking, and just putting everything in it's place. My eating has been TERRIBLE--I don't know why I can't wrap my brain around this thing again. My sister that just joined has lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks--she looks terrific--especially since she only started at 145!! But I am envious only because I remember how "good" we were those first 4-5 months. We are almost tempted to rejoin at COD just to have to go back--obviously we can't do it on our own. We'll see how the next week or so goes.

07-03-2007, 11:45 AM
Oh, Lea Ann - I was wondering if the flooding was affecting you at all. I hope your parents don't get any damage.

07-03-2007, 11:51 AM
Lean Ann - You said something that hit me -
I don't know why I can't wrap my brain around this thing again. But I am envious only because I remember how "good" we were those first 4-5 months. We are almost tempted to rejoin at COD just to have to go back--obviously we can't do it on our own. We'll see how the next week or so goes.

I COMPLETELY understand what you are saying - I have all the "tools" to work this plan and like you - I just can't seem to "stick" with it -- I "give" myself permission to cheat - oh I can just "make it up tomorrow" and then one cheat turns into 2 and then into a day ---

I have started today off POP and my goal for the day is to stay POP ! I decided to stop stressing about the big picture and start dealing with one day/one hour at a time --

07-03-2007, 12:09 PM
back from WI and down another pound....and i'll take it. I said before when I was doing this...i'll count every ounce i lose as a victory! DFS is off at daycare and when we pulled into the parking lot he looked at the building and went "NO NO NO NO" and i smiled..looked at him and went "YES YES YES YES" and he started laughing. As soon as we got in the door he was running to get to his room to see his friends....he's something wonderful...that's for sure!

Pearl: it's so good to have you back!

To everyone have a great POP day and i'll talk with ya'll later!

07-03-2007, 12:32 PM
Kim--it's just crazy--we've seen that lake completely empty and now completely full! They are letting it out as fast as they can but then it affects the farmers downriver--so everyone is trying to make everyone happy and it just doesn't work that way. My sister lives an hour away and they closed their golfcourse because the river that runs through it has flooded the course--just too strange for those of us used to being parched all the time!

Norissa--so glad I am not alone--we can do this--we are smart gals and KNOW how to do this. I am good so far (well--I had an EAS for breakfast and probably count it all wrong, but I am counting it as a protein and starch because I just don't think it should can't as a dairy!) HMMMM....wonder why I am not doing this well! Then it's HLW to see if some of this gain is salt related. We'll hang in here together and take it hour by hour.

07-03-2007, 12:38 PM
Hello all, I don't have time for individual shout outs, but I hope everyone is doing great. I'll check in tonight or tomorrow and post to everyone. I am busy at work today!

For tomorrow's cookout, I'm feeding my family the usual hamburgers and hot dogs but I bought boca burgers for me. They are close to the same and I like them. I also have boneless skinless chicken breasts to grill. I have some naughty treats like chips, potato salad and baked beans, and some good treats like fresh fruits and veggies. I'll eat my lite bar when everyone else has cake. So far, I'm not feeling deprived by eating my healthy selections when everyone else eats their junk food!

My COD is having a deal where if I weigh today (tues) and thurs and don't gain more than 1/2 lb, I get a $10 store credit. I can do it!

Have a good 4th of July and I hope you have a good WI at the end of the week.

07-03-2007, 12:41 PM
Lean Ann - I will hang in there with you - We can DO THIS ! :high:

07-03-2007, 01:06 PM
Hang in there everyone - A little planning for tomorrow will go a long way. Figure out your biggest weakness and substitute. You will be surprised how good you feel if you take off the top half of the bun, or substitute a 4" ww pita. Substitute a veggie burger for the real thing. Bring a big salad with you if you are going to someone's house. Even if not many other people eat it, you can fill your plate and not feel deprived.

We're not doing anything special tomorrow, so we decided to make our own healthy BBQ. I'm marinating a london broil in a dry rub tonight and we are going to cook it over hickory chips tomorrow. I found a recipe for a yummy-looking red potato salad and cucumber salad so I will have that for dinner. I am foregoing the alcohol because we will drive to watch fireworks.

Saturday is DD's 15th birthday party. We rented a pavillion at the beach and are doing hamburgers and hot dogs and chips for all the kids. I am bringing my veggie burgers and a salad for me and DD and I decided to do fruit kebabs instead of a fruit platter. We're threading watermelon, canteloupe, pineapple, strawberries and apple slices onto skewers. I thought that would be something cool for the kids to grab and go since they'll be running around anyway. And if I munch on a few of them w/my veggie burgers, I think I can get 2 for 1 fruit.

Hey Everybody!!! No bad news to report good news, either. Just doing my thing today. Yesterday went well. My WI was up 1 lb just like I, I don't feel bad. Also, one of the counselors also reminded that for two weeks now I have consistently been working out 4-5 days a week, which could mean some muscles are vamping up. That's a good thing...I have been noticing changes in my clothes and my physical appearance, as a whole.
On another note, I finally received my new plan. There is NO way I will be able to eat all of my way. I tried yesterday while piggin' out at Capital Grille and still missed a starch and a fruit. Before I work out in the mornings(6AM or so), I try to eat like a 1/2 F or 1/2 P...after that, I am not hungry until about 10 or so...I have to eat my my heavy starches and proteins before 1 or 2 in the afternoon, if not, I stall...even worse, gain. With this new plan, the P servings are smaller but the other stuff is about the same or even larger...for example, D for the whole day could potentially be 24 ozs of yogurt(8ozs yougurt now = 1 D). Oh well, I could go on and on...but my COD says if I stick with the plan for at least a week, I should see a loss. We will see...remember my avg weight loss is 1.15 lb p/wk...
Here it is lunch time and I am not even hungry. Here is what I have left for the day as I have already FORCED(never thought I would say that) myself to eat to stay on plan...2 1/2P, 4V, 2F, 3S, 2 D, 2 Fats, 1 Lite. I know I shouldn't be complaining about having to eat, but this is a weight loss that's my whine for the day. Maybe, I'll go eat some cheese with it...hey that's another dairy I can use up. SMILE.
You guys have a great day! I am trying to decrease my time on line because when I post here, I post on other forums and neglect some of my housewife standing in front of washer almost 2 or 3 hours a day, sweeping, mopping, etc....OH JOY!!! Take care and have a POP day!!!

07-03-2007, 01:33 PM
Angie- My cousin recommended a few good things that I think transfer over to LAWL so I'll tell you that stuff.
**Eat breakfast within 1 hr of waking up (he provided some stats & reasoning on that)
**After you eat, don't eat again for at least 2 hrs
**Don't go longer than 5 hrs between meals/eating
**Wear a pedometer for 2 days to get an average days steps. Try to add another 1000 steps the remaining days of the week and keep it up. The next week add another 1000 - work yourself up to 10,000 per day.

He has me counting carb intake now - will add more when I get more comfortable - and some resistance training.
I can have 3 carb choices per meal, and 1 per snack. Each choice is 15g of carbs. (breads, grains, starchy vegs, fruits, milk & milk products, combination foods, sugars, chips, sweets, etc)

07-03-2007, 02:15 PM
Hi all,

You all got me thinking about planning what we have tomorrow. This whole just started on maintenance and it being a holiday where I usually cooked bad things, well that could be a bad combination if I don't plan.

Pearl, I joined 3FC in June, I started the diet waaaaay back in September, so it took me a good long while to lose the weight. I wish I had found you all sooner! It would have helped through the dark times of the plateaus. The last 10 pounds I had to practically chisel them one by one off my body, and originally they said I should get down to 148 by March 5, but I finally made it down to 160 in the middle of May, and declared victory. I had been down to 148 on Jenny craig about 15 years ago, but that was a crash diet, and I lost a lot of muscle mass doing that. I figured it out, and I have less fat on me now than I did at that time (I had my body fat measured by a personal trainer then and now have a scale that measures it). Which makes sense since I'm at least as small as I was then... as I saved the clothes... and then finally threw them out (OK most of them) when I saw a TLC channel ad where a guy asks this gal decked out in a power suit where the delorean was parked..... I could relate to that woman. I saved those clothes for 15 years to fit into them again, and part of me wanted to wear them... I'm sure it would amuse my 18 yo DD to no end.

Cassi, 15 was a good year. When can they get their learners permit in Florida? My daughter spent her 15th birthday pouting because she failed the test for her drivers permit (my daughter is the sort who has a hissy fit over a single B in high school). I took my daughter and a friend of hers all the way down to Palm Springs and let them drive that year (18 hours of driving each way) to visit my dad. That was the least relaxing vacation I ever took.

I like the fruit kabob idea and the veggie burgers... I did buy some corn on the cob, since on the maintenance plan it was one starch and I haven't had corn on the cob in at least 10 months. I like to grill them also...

Liza, I have a siamese cat that is such a character. How do your cats get along. My cat is pretty much the devoted slave of our dog, but the dog is just about on his last legs and I just don't know what Samurai will do when he is alone in the house all day. He is kind of inventive about getting into things already. He is a straw freak, and if you leave a soda with a straw in it out in the house, it is going down with the cat running like a banshee with it... We had the carpets cleaned (well with all the spilled soda it was needed) and there was about 15 straws under one of the sofas where he had saved his prizes. Anyway, I wonder about getting another kitty for him... Do your cats hang out together?

Kim, I never drank the asparagus water! They just told me that at the COD... Some of the advice I've gotten has been rather interesting! The closest I've come is to make homemade soup with lots of asparagus in it, which was pretty good (low sodium broth of course).

Norissa and LeeAnn and Heather Not only do I know you can do this, I see that you ARE doing it! Don't count your failures, count your successes. Every time you get back on track, it gets to be easier. In the long run your success hinges on learning how to get back on track after life throws something at you. So you are just learning how to manage this for the rest of your life! Since I made the commitment to myself not just for my weight loss weeks, but for the rest of my life.

Anyway, sorry for rambling...

I do think planning for a holiday makes all the difference... I planned thanksgiving and Christmas and did wonderfully, didn't plan Easter much, and had a diet meltdown... so planning is key, since if you have it set in your mind what you are going to have, you don't have to decide in front of the food.. since when I decide in front of the food, the food talks me into eating it. I suppose I'm the food whisperer, since I can hear it talking! Donuts tend to shout at me... LOL

Have POP day and a fun holiday...

07-03-2007, 02:28 PM
So what is everyone planning to have tomorrow? It might give me some menu ideas to stay on plan

07-03-2007, 02:30 PM
Barbara - If you like to grill corn, check out the fish recipe I posted. The corn relish is really good!

And in FL they can get their permit at 15. DD took the 4 hour drug and alcohol course first and is studying to take the permit test. Then they have to have their permit for one year before getting the license.

07-03-2007, 02:44 PM
We are going to friends (my skinniest one! ack!) but I am taking the angel food trifle of Katie's and another friend is taking veggies--I'm sure there will be fruit. I have full intentions of making it just fine--I was perfect for close to 6 months so I know I can get there again--just re-train the brain!!!!! I even got out the Power90 DVD--and did it!! Sometimes I just get it out--haha. All for now--I NEED a shower. really

07-03-2007, 03:04 PM
Hey everybody! Dh will be getting the smoker going early in the A.M. for chicken and pork loin. While he's doing it, we might throw on a turkey too. Then we'll put what we don't want to have now in the freezer. We even portion control it and vacuum pack it. Works great for throwing in our lunch coolers on really busy days.
Our garden in starting to come in and I cooked a huge pan of zuchinni this morning with lots of onions and lots of garlic! Neither of us liked zuchinni until I tried a recipe off the net that called for 4 cloves of garlic for 3 zuchinni... At first I thought it was crazy, but we tried it and loved it! Now I'm cooking zuchinni and yellow squash the same way.
BoosMom - Lea Ann, it's so great to "see" you! I asked Joni about you this morning!
Okay, gotta go get ready for work.
Happy Fourth everyone!

07-03-2007, 03:27 PM
Pearl--it's great to see you too! I am afraid there is more of me to see than when you last were around... All is well. I was not a zucchini fan (unless it's zucc bread!) until we started cooking it on the grill. Our current favorite meal is "chicken butt" with grilled zucchini, mushrooms, onions, and asparagus--yum..

07-03-2007, 03:32 PM

Hip Hooray! Went to WI and I've lost 3 pounds since Friday! That officially puts me at the 20-pound mark!! Woo Hoo!!!!

Went to the school and moved the rest of my stuff out of my old classroom and into my new one. All that's left is my bookshelf and two file cabinets and the custodian said he'd move those. He's such a sweetheart! All those mornings when I got to school and surprised him with breakfast from McDonald's have paid off! That's really not why I do it. I just love him to death and don't like the fact the so many people at school treat him as if he's their personal servant! DH and I will have to go one evening and take my t.v. out of the room and mount it in the new room.

As we were leaving school, DS said from the backseat, "Mama, we haven't been on a date all summer! Last summer, we went on lots of dates!" Any time he and I go to eat without DD or DH, he refers to it as "a date." So we went to Chili's. I had the Guiltless Grill Salmon and steamed veggies, so I did just fine and stayed POP!

Lots of rumbles heading this way! Big storm coming. I sure hope it passes in the next hour so DS won't miss his swimming lesson!

07-03-2007, 03:33 PM
Holy guacamole Tina...look at you go on that summer challenge. You are down 12 lbs in just a little over a month!
That's fantastic! Hope DD feels better soon.

Lea Ann - you mean your DD didn't come home just to be with you???? Here's to your staying strong. I've been tempted to go back to my COD, but they don't seem to be offering any great deals, so I'm just hanging around here. I think it helps me to run a challenge vs. just participating in it. I think playing the healthy lifestyle game is just easier for some folks than others. Don't be too hard on yourself. The important thing is to keep trying and not give up. :strong: Darn, I was about to email you to see if I could borrow that Power 90 DVD!!! Your ears must have been burning. I remember when I first came around here you were doing that faithfully...then you stopped because your WL was stalled....did you learn anything from this lesson???

Norissa - you too...stay strong...we can all do this!

Look out upstate New York.......Kim's behind the wheel!!

Pearl - sounds like you're going to have a smoking good time tomorrow! :smoking: enjoy. That zucchini with tons of garlic sounds yummy!

I'm going to eat pasta and ground turkey breast/tomatoe sauce for my early dinner tonight (healthy version of a pre-10K race pasta party). I've got to get up around 4:45 AM tomorrow to go do the big July 4th race. It's all fun.
Lots of work to do so I, too, am shutting this down for the day. Happy 4th to all and be good.

Quick edit...Felicia...congratulations....20 lbs is a lot!!! Love DS' comment and glad he got in his special date.

07-03-2007, 03:38 PM
Pearl - I love reading your posts. You just have a great and genuine personality from what I can see! Yes, Mini Me is my daughter. A few threads back I posted a picture of us with our heads leaning together and most people think I just spit her out. Whatever that means.... My fluffy white cat is cuddly. The other one on occasion will rub against me and let me scratch behind his ears as he purrs and drools but that's about it. No holding or even attempting to or he will resume plotting my death.

Katy - Welcome! We'll keep you POP!

Kim - It's good to hear you're recoupping so fast from your gallbladder surgery! I broke my leg a couple of years ago two days before the last time my daughter left to visit her father. It was so frustrating to not being able to do everything by myself and not have anyone to help out. As determined as I always am, I got through but with a lot of cursing. Grocery shopping with one crutch and a cart for balance is a challenge, but doable I discovered!

Tina - Sorry to hear about DD being sick. Hope she feels better soon!

Carrie - That cat is more like a dog so most dog people actually like him a lot. He was the family dog until the real one came around! Sorry to hear you overslept this morning. Can you workout tonight? I prefer to run and bike at night and let go of all of the stress of the day.

Barbara - The siamese blood really makes them quite the characters doesn't it? He's just a big nutty furball. No grace, always happy go lucky. The two cats are complete opposites. Sometimes they get along and will hang out together and sometimes they can't stand to even look at each other. I guess 10 years in the same space of each other will do that. He and the dog probably hang out more and stopped trying to figure out what the other is useful for. And the straws.. that's funny. S**tty Kitty loves the glass holiday ornaments. He can't resist taking one each year and hiding it behind the chair! He doesn't break them.. just takes it and hides it. He also likes the dogs toys. Anything the dog eats or plays with must be shared! Good luck being POP tomorrow! Plug your ears when the donuts are near.....

Lea Ann - I'm sorry to hear you're stuck in that bad weather. I hope your parents home makes it through ok! Hang in there with POP thoughts.... you can do it!

Heather - Too cute about DFS! Glad to hear the extra rolls didn't sabotage your WI! Good job!

I don't think I'll have trouble tomorrow staying POP. My whole neighborhood turns into one big bbq on the holidays. We're right on Mission Bay with the perfect view of all of the fireworks so we don't have to leave for anything. Everytime I step outside someone is inviting me in for beer and food. I think the beer will be the bigger temptation but knowing I have to be up at 4AM the next morning will probably keep me on track. I usually just go for a run or a bike ride when I don't want to hang out and drink with people but that will be tough tomorrow. It's bound to be very crowded outside.

I was looking at a friend's diet diary and she's on WW. Looking through it, I guess I'm just a bit surprised by the plan and what she eats. It doesn't look very nutritional to me (I'm a bit fanatic about nutrition) She drinks twice as much diet soda as water and the other food is low calorie, but empty in nutritional value. I am very happy with the LAWL plan and feel of all of them out there, this one is the most reasonable and smart. For those who get discouraged, just keep in mind that this is a very smart plan and will work when you get back on the wagon! Might not be as fast as we'd like, but it is healthy and will train us to eat properly for the rest of our lives.

Ok, time to snooze between shifts. I'm running out of time. Hope everyone is having as great of a day as possible!

07-03-2007, 03:40 PM
Hi everybody

Lea Ann & Norissa- I totally hear you about re-training your brain. I am having the same problem. I do really good for a few days, see a good loss and then decide I can slack off, and end up right back where I started.

Pearl- I welcomed you back in last weeks thread, but just wanted to say again how great it is to have you back around!!

Kim- Glad you are getting better from your gall bladder divorce!

Heather- WTG on the lb.!!

Kristen- I am also praying for you to find your ring. Along the note that Angie left, I have a friend that also lost her wedding ring that was her great grandmothers. She also prayed to St. Anthony and then the very next day, she found the ring.

Felicia- I love the house pics, it's gorgeous!!

I found out that my problem that I thought was evil PMS turned out to be crashing potassium levels and spastic colon (similar to IBS) attack. Gave me all the physical symtoms and aches of PMS. So, got the spastic colon under control and eating bananas and spinach along with my potassium pills and I think I am on the mend. Now if I can just remember when that dang TOM is supposed to show up!!!!

Tomorrow we have a BBQ and fireworks next door. I am bringing veggies and they always have yummy fruits out, I think I will be OK, I can always run home and grab something if it's all bad stuff. Then we are going out of town for Thursday and Friday. I am planning on being good, but my best intentions don't always work out like I want them too.

Carrie, Letisha, Tina, Cassi, Joni, Britt, Katy, Dan, Liza, Barb, Angie, Allanah, Jillian, snowdogs, Karen, Katie, kim2, nicole, Amy, Paula, Holly and everybody else  . Have a safe great 4th and a great weekend.

07-03-2007, 03:40 PM
Felicia--congrats!!! 20 pounds is awesome!! WTG on your date

Joni--I don't learn lessons--haven't you noticed that about me??? I am hoping that since I haven't been really eating well OR exercising that I can shock the old body into something new. Gotta say--I have to drag my a$$ to exercise but once I get started I really love the feeling--it's just those first 5-10 minutes!! Something has to give--eventually. And on the subject of DD--oh please--eyeroll--she is already at her friends house. She slept on the couch because she couldn't bear sleeping "so far away" from us and all alone in the other side of the house--then griped at how noisy we are in the morning--poor baby--didn't get to sleep til noon--wahhh...

07-03-2007, 03:44 PM
Deb--EXACTLY--I do great--lose 4-5 then think--wow--I've done so great I'll just have this little something and boom--it's back. I have no doubt my metabolism is wrecked from dieting for so so so many years but hopefully if I can get back into exercising that will help. I fondly remember times when I could eat what I wanted because of exercise and youth--what happened??

07-03-2007, 04:14 PM
Congrat Felicia! that is wonderful.

Liza - I agree completely about WW. You can use all your points on birthday cake and potato'll probably still lose weight but how healthy will you be. LAWL is much more balanced.

If I don't have a chance to post again today I hope everyone has a great 4th and good luck staying on plan:)!

07-03-2007, 05:25 PM
just wanted to pop in and say hi.

Mama Nicole
07-03-2007, 06:00 PM
Hi everyone :)
We made it safely to Wisconsin, and my parents got a new computer, so I just may be able to keep up a bit!!! That makes me happy. I stay OP so much better with you all helping :)

I took 4 yo DS to the ENT today, and I think we are going to have his tonsils and adenoids taken out, and tubes put in his ears while we are here. I dont want to do this, but it is best for him, I guess.........

I am going to Summerfest in Milwaukee today to see John Mayer. I am going to stay OP, and that's all there is to it :)

Have a happy 4th everyone......I will check in soon again.

Congrats to everyone on their great losses this week........and if you didn't have a loss.........hang in will work :)

07-03-2007, 07:48 PM
Nicole - glad you have access to the 'puter! yipee. Sorry DS has to go through all that, but doesn't just about every kid have those problems??
Oh, I used to love Summerfest....say hi to John for me and have fun. Be good or else!

Lea Ann - are you feeling the love yet from DD? I think I'll do an exercise challenge and make you co-captain...okay?

Liza - so true about WW. As I recall, I could have 10 beers for 20 pts. That works for me!! Seeing the fireworks from your own neighborhood sounds so cool. Enjoy the day.

Hey Jillian...........

07-03-2007, 07:59 PM
Nicole - Sorry about your DS. Joni's right, though...those procedures are becoming much more routine. A guy that I work with took his daughter to have tubes in her ears and she came through it just fine.

I'm glad you all are not too incredibly chatty today...I can actually kinda catch up. Ok, I'm just skimming:)

DD now has a 101 temp off and on along with her cough. She feels great after the tylenol and then slowly goes downhill from there...until the next dose. Unfortunately, with all of the coughing, she's not getting much sleep. All prayers are welcomed...

07-03-2007, 08:01 PM
Oh...and yes, Joni...I'm shocked at how well the 5 week thing is going. This is week 5 for me, but I may just extend it for a while...I'm liking the results...

slim n trim
07-03-2007, 08:03 PM
Hi ..... just popping in quick to say hello, and hope all you American's have a great 4th of July. Stay Safe.

Congrats to all the losers.

Sorry, no time for personals. Busy, busy...

but big hello's to everyone.

okay, I gotta go.

07-03-2007, 08:36 PM
My dumb computer is giving me fits!! it shuts down on me and turns into a blue screen that says "now dumping physical memory" WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?

any way, this morning I got on it and wrote I hope I can get through this before my computer crashes..........and then there it went! So Now I am am at the San Fransisco Bread Co. they have a computer to use.

So I tried to read through everything but couldn't retain it all sorry. but Hi to everyone.

as for me, Went to the COD this morning and I was down 2.2!! yay! also 6 days Drive thru free!!! yippie.!

Hubby had his first phone interview with the job.....and it went well, he is set for two more phone interviews with two more people and then they will want to sit down and start the negotiating. They asked him how fast he would want this to move and he told them we would like to be up there before the kids start school. but that is only about 6 1/2 weeks away so that seems unlikely. but stranger things have happened. ........Ok I am getting ahead of myself.... Lets get the job first!

Today was my DD 10th birthday, We went to pizza hut, I had a "CC" meal..... then we went to see Rataouille.... very cute. Cassi this one is for you!! then we went to Build a Bear Workshop and she made a bear, then we walked around the outdoor mall, and now we are here.

Tomorrow we will go to our city pool, there will be a festival and then the fire works. it will be a strange 4th. we usually have about 5 families over to our house, we have 12 acres and we have a nice valley that is very secluded. we usually have everyone over and have a big picnic, and then have our own fireworks. but this year, our one friends moved away, our other friends are on vacation in AZ, my son is away at camp working, my husband and daughter are still in CO. so it is just my and the three little kids. but we are going to make the best of it.

I don't know how often I will get on with a limping computer, so don't fret, I will still be drive-thru free, and aiming for POP. I have a new motivator. if we move to WI, I want to be as small as possible before I meet new people!!

Have a great 4th!

Liza - so true about WW. As I recall, I could have 10 beers for 20 pts. That works for me!! Seeing the fireworks from your own neighborhood sounds so cool. Enjoy the day.

LOL I remember my friends saying they "drank their dinner" after a night of clubbing. You might lose weight that way... and your liver! Woo hoo!

Tina - I'm so sorry your DD is so sick! Keep lots of pedialyt (sp?) handy.. those fevers really take it out of them!

Nicole - Glad you made it there safe and sound! Hope those procedures make things all better for your DS!

as for me, Went to the COD this morning and I was down 2.2!! yay! also 6 days Drive thru free!!! yippie.!

Good job!!!! I'm sure the drive thrus miss you.. but they will surivive somehow! (I know how tempting those buggars are too!) Sounds like you had a really fun day too! - aside from the computer issues.

Deb - Enjoy your friend's bbq tomorrow and the out of town trip!

Why didn't I put in a request for summer vacation? I'm so jealous.

Gotta get back to work.... I'll be on a lot tomorrow I'm sure as I try to avoid all of the bbqs around me.

Good evening,

Back to work tomorrow for me. I just got home from Chancey and as usual she was a sweetie - but then again I am a tad biased. She will kiss you and let you kiss and hug the stuffing out of her and she would just look at you when you are done as if to say "how come you stopped?". She has always been like that sinc we got her. She loves to cuddle and considering she is 80lbs you usually don't have a lot of choice in the matter.

Got the drs appt overwith and needle done and BP checked. BP was good the last 2 times I went in so that made me happy. At least something I am doing has a positive spin!!!

I spent a quiet day after that relaxing but I must say I am ready to get back to seeing more people. I did catch both oprah and Dr Phil today and both had to do with weight coincidentally. Interesting shows though.

Well gotta go check out a few more threads on here. I'll check in before sleepies.....

Hi guys, just popping in quick to say hello.

Have a great 4th everyone! Have fun, and be safe, please!

07-03-2007, 09:46 PM
Joni--co-captain?? Too funny--I am only 1 day in to this thing--but an OP day is an OP day--and when I exercise it's a great day.

Nicole--DD#2 had tubes put in and adenoids removed at age 6 (which is kinda late I guess) but she is doing GREAT--and has ever since the surgery 18 months ago--a Mother's worry never ends but when they can breathe and function it's all worth it.

Tina--hugs to Emmy! We are a Motrin family--if I'd known how fast it works on my girls we would have bought stock in it years ago.

Everyone--have a great night--and a SAFE 4th of July.

07-03-2007, 09:48 PM
THank you all for the pats on the back! I'll have another W/I on Thursday and am hoping to be down at least 1/2lb so I can win the $10 prize!

Tina- Hope DD feels better soon! :getwell:

Nicole- So glad you have a way to keep in touch while you are away! Have fun listening to John! Glad you committed to being OP!

Cassi and Lee Ann- I was just reading your posts about losing focus after a while…I am still in the “honeymoon”period where the weight is coming off pretty easily and it’s all great…BUT unlike any other weight loss plan I’ve tried the day by day seems to really matter. Try to “rekindle” the diet romance!! YOU CAN!

Liza-wow, hearing about MB makes me homesick for SD!!! I definitely drank my dinners a few nights down there…no wonder I gained all the weight I had lost right back! Have fun on the 4th!

Lettie- YAYAYAYAY on the loss! BOO to your comp. I hate when mine acts up. You are doing sooo great steering clear of the evil FF! Starting fresh in a new city is GREAT motivation to get down….if your wish does come true, think of all you could lose in 6 ½ weeks! Enjoy your 4th with the lil ones!

Holly- congrats on all of your progress. How have you been doing lately?

Britt- I’m so glad you are in the labor day challenge for 25…it’s gonna be easy!

Joni- good luck tomorrow!! I know you will be showing a great loss come July 5th!

Felicia- CONGRATS on hitting the 20lb mark! We started about a week apart…I can’t wait ot hit 20 soon, I hope! :dancer:

Jillian- how have you been doing? I’m 2 for 2 on the workouts this week….will be off for the 4th but am hoping to get there Thurs and Friday. How did the DVD workout go?

Pearl- yummy smoked pork, chicken and turkey!! I can smell it from here! :hun:

Dan- no internet at your accommodations near the fire? Hope all is well!

Paula, Karen, Letisha, Alannah, Norissa, Katy, Heather, Katie:wave:

Going to the school again tomorrow to work on my classroom. I'm sure there will be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth from DS. My t.v. is still in the old room for now, so there won't be much for him to do, bless his heart. I will also spend ALL of my mothers-day-out hours at school. I'm trying to get my classroom totally ready for the first day of school so that I can concentrate on packing up our house! We close on the 31st and will start moving in that same day! The house is only 2 miles from here, so we will probably make lots of small trips with most of our stuff and then just hire movers for the furniture. Please pray and/or keep your fingers crossed that we sell our current house really quickly. The prospect of paying two mortgages for an expended period of time scares the heck out of me!

07-03-2007, 10:03 PM
BTW, during this whole moving adventure, I'm making ballerina tutus - in my spare time!! I'm going to do a "Tutu Sweet" photo shoot in September and am inviting lots of mommies with little girls - mostly toddlers - to schedule sitting times and come and have sweet pictures made of their wee girls in tutus. I've already taken promotional shots of DD to use in the mail-out. They turned out SO cute! She, of course, being the drama queen that she is, giggled and twirled and had a ball!

07-03-2007, 10:04 PM
Lettie, In the land of the computer geeks, that is known as the blue screen of death, a definite sign that something is fried in the computer.

Liza, I know... Not only did I not ask for time off, I somehow agreed to be other people's "backups"... So I'm stuck, and with a lot of extra work besides.
Not that it keeps me from the 3FC web site apparently. LOL!

Well chickies have a good 4th.. I'm going to repaint some furniture that I bought for my daughter to take to college with her... I spent all last weekend sanding and priming so I'm excited to see how it turns out.

07-03-2007, 10:36 PM
Amy - We probably drank a few dinners together if you were doing that 5 years ago. I went through a phase.... Sorry to make you miss SD. I'll tip a beer your way as I sit under a palm tree tomorrow.

Barbara - You sound like me. I'm amazed I got all of tomorrow off. They always try to sneak me into the schedule on the holidays some how.

Hi Katie!

Tina - How is Emmy? Any better?

I'm sorry to all of my Canuck friends that I forgot to wish you a Happy Canada Day! I did sing the anthem though....

I'll wish all of my American friends Happy 4th tomorrow.

07-04-2007, 03:17 AM
Hey gang...

Hope yer all doing well.. Greetings from lovely Bloomfield, NM... I came off the fire at about 9 tonight and got myself a motel room so I could send out my news releases. The fire is going well.. I got down into the black today and got some cool photos.. The main bulk of the fire has stopped, as our crews got a lot of good work done today. I'll be busy tomorrow going around to homes near the fire zone, touching base with people and letting them know what's going on.. No homes are in danger at this point, but we want them to know we're thinking about them and wll be letting them know if they need to evacuate. I doubt that will happen, but yer better safe than sorry...

Here's a link to the story.. Click on the video box on the right side of the page and you'll get a soundbite from yours truely...

Stayed mostly POP today, but this evening I just had to have a snack and the only thing we had around were some chips.. I didn't overdo it, but felt bad none the less...

Anyway.. I hope you all have a great and safe holiday (for those of you celebrating - For our Canadians, have a great Wednesday!!)...

07-04-2007, 09:58 AM

Okay--my 4th of July is off to a bang--I ate great and exercised and had a 2 pound GAIN to reward me this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder it's so hard for me to do this. UGH. Enough whining. There are other factors but I hate always trying to rationalize every time. Okay--off to shower to get this day started--maybe I'll find a better mood in there.

Amy--thanks--I am working on it--one day at a time. You are doing great and for many the "honeymoon" never ends--it was my own fault though--I just got lazy.

Dan--too cool!!! And you look slim and trim on camera--even better when it's supposed to add pounds. DH used to do a lot of work in Bloomfield, Albuquerque, Gallup, etc. when we lived in Kingman--New Mexico was one of his areas (he works in natural gas)

Felicia--I am envious of you getting to "work in your room"--I am still trying to get on here after teaching in Arizona--I really miss it. The photo shoot sounds adorable--post photos!!

Barb--don't work too hard. Enjoy your painting--we love refinishing old furniture--it's like getting something new. We have some really neat pieces that were once grandparents so it's makes them special.

Liza--enjoy your day off.

Update on the folks--the lake is still rising--the level is at 1192 and the dam is 1200--(dad says the deck is probably at 1199!) I would love to get to SEE it rushing over the dam--amazing. My girls are desert rats and have never seen such a sight.

I got up early to workout then we have the parade and "Fair on the Square" (arts, crafts, fair food-yikes--I promise to just say no) then the BBQ and fireworks show tonight. I have already scheduled myself a little nap!

Have a great one--celebrate America!!

07-04-2007, 10:21 AM
Good Morning! Hope everyone is off to a good start this morning. We are planning a pretty laid back holiday. The DH is working this am on the rock wall we are building and the DH and I are being lazy:lol: This afternoon is a neighborhood cookout (Here in NC a BBQ means that is what you are eating, a cookout means burgers and hot dogs, etc):) Then driving over to the lake to watch the fireworks. It is tough when the holiday is mid week and you have to work the next is like to Mondays in one week, but I guess I should be glad there were two Friday's as well.

Congrats on all the good losses and for those who didn't lose or gained, you can do it! We all have our set backs.

Happy 4th and hope you all have a POP day, or at least an almost POP day!:)

Dan- That is awesome, thanks for sharing! Now you are a superstar. A skinny little superstar!

07-04-2007, 10:38 AM
Boo's Mom-- My mind is fuzzy this morning since I just woke up but your in Temple right? If your looking for teaching jobs they are always looking for teachers here in Killeen. Where is the lake that is about to flood?

Hi to everyone else. The kids and I are just hanging out today. I am so tired of the RAIN!!! My back yard looks like one big mud puddle. Hopefully it is somwhat sunny today and I can get the pool cleaned for the kids to swim.

07-04-2007, 10:47 AM
Lettie, In the land of the computer geeks, that is known as the blue screen of death, a definite sign that something is fried in the computer.

so how do I escape the blue screen of death????

07-04-2007, 10:49 AM
Happy 4th!! I am reading very fast and typing even faster to get this on before the screen of death returns,

Heres to the fireworks not being the only thing that POPs!!

07-04-2007, 11:03 AM
Lettie - start saving everything that is important on your computer if you haven't already.. you may not be able to save your computer.

Dan - Great photos & thanks for sharing your "sound bite" with us! You're such an inspiration!

I just have a minute today.. we're heading out to the beach and I'm happy to say that I won't be embarrassed to be seen in a swimsuit this time! I still have a long way to go, but I don't feel like a beached whale anymore. I've been so discouraged lately, and as a result I have a difficult time staying POP. So since today is Independence Day -- so it is for me as well. I'm recommitting to be "Independent" from the rest of this fat!!

Happy Birthday America! Have a wonderful holiday all!
Happy Wednesday to all our Canadian friends. :-)

07-04-2007, 11:13 AM
Tammie--I am actually up in the panhandle near Amarillo--we are too dry--but my folks live on Lake Proctor and they are drowning in rain--like you--I guess all of central Texas is getting hammered. My sister in San Saba (she goes to the COD in Killeen) is rained out and even my sister in east Dallas has tons of rain--not me--wahhh... Of course they are forecasting showers tonight--just in time for the big firework show--haha.

Okay--the shower washed away some grumpiness so I'll start this day over.

07-04-2007, 11:29 AM
Felicia--I am envious of you getting to "work in your room"--I am still trying to get on here after teaching in Arizona--I really miss it. The photo shoot sounds adorable--post photos!!

I know I'm really blessed to have a great job in a great school. I don't mean to grouse about having to move my classroom. It's just SUCH a chore! I've been at this school for 6 years - the last four in the same classroom. The good thing is that I'm throwing away so much accumulated junk! The bad part is that now I also have to go through all the junk that the previous teacher left in the new room. She told me she was leaving some stuff that I might be able to use. There are few things (art supplies, binders) that I can use. The rest, I'm just tossing! Man! We teachers are such packrats!!

07-04-2007, 12:03 PM
Morning everyone!!

Well so far my day is off to a good start. I slept in this AM and got up about 20 minutes ago woohoo!!! I also got on the scale and it says down another pound so I cant wait to see what the COD says on friday. I am supposed to go to a softball tournament today but I might skip it I have so much stuff to do before I leave sunday morning. I am getting ready to go exercise/shower/have breakfast.

Dan awesome sound bit and you look great!!!

Felicia I will not be able to start working on my classroom till either the last week of July or first week of August. I have kindergarten roundup on August 2 and I am thinking the rooms will not be ready! They are doing construction at the school and it is off limites until further notice. I have so much to do that I just dont know that there will be enough time to get it finished.

Everyone have an awesome 4th of july and try your best to be POP!!!!

07-04-2007, 12:30 PM
liza--here's a few pics of scooter! he's such a hilarious kitty! great entertainment!

amy---my workout dvd kicked my butt! it's the biggest loser workout dvd and it's rough. my legs and back are still sore! i bought a new tae bo dvd last night since i think i sold mine on a garage sale a few years ago. i'm excited, because anything that involves punching and kicking, i'm all about! :) i've gotten 2 of 3 workouts in so far..and i know i'm gonna pop that new dvd in tomorrow and have a blast. so there's my 3/week!

07-04-2007, 12:35 PM
oh and i posted a new avatar and put a bigger version in my profile. i think it's a pretty decent pic of me.

be back later today.

07-04-2007, 12:38 PM
I never realized how many teachers we have here...very cool:)

DD is doing better. The fever is gone. The cough is better...just flares up when she tries to play as I'm trying to keep her watching cartoons today to get her rest. We did sleep most of the night, so that was a blessing. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Love the new avatar, look fantastic!

I didn't watch the Dan clip yet...I'll do that now...

07-04-2007, 12:48 PM
Way cool, are a "superstah...".

My DD just crawled up next to me and saw my last post and said, "That's you, mommy" and then wanted to know the names of each one of you...too cute!

07-04-2007, 12:49 PM
Tina - glad DD is feeling better! It's just miserable when they don't feel well!

Jillian - great new pic!

Dan - too cool to see you "in person!" I'll bet you're a whole lot more confident doing that sort of thing now that you've lost so much weight and gained so much confidence!

DH is on the roof, cleaning it. I really need to get off my rear and work on the house. We close on the new one on the 31st and need to have this one ready to show ASAP!

07-04-2007, 12:56 PM
Jillian! You look GREAT! I'm going to have to try some DVDs soon before I get worn out on the gym. Awesome job! oh, and I love your kitty!

Tina- I'm glad Emmy is feeling a little bit better. p.s.-I LOVE her name!!! One of my favorites!

Dan- WOW! What a celeb. You look so so good. Good luck out there!

WendyII- I can't wait to feel comfortable in a bathing suit again. Good for you!

Liza-enjoy your day off in the sand! I guess I can't miss it too much since I was just there last month...but I do miss the everyday lifestyle. Enjoy!

Lettie- my dbf had the blue screen of death and managed to get it taken care of at a computer tech place for about $200- you probably have a virus.

Felicia- I know what you mean. My mom was a teacher....I used to love to go through her teaching papers/books to play school when I was little. There's just so much stuff!

Britt- have a great day! Vegas is going to be fun..but there's SO much good food there. I was there on the 2nd week of starting and it was difficult but I actually lost a pound there! You'll have a blast!

Have a great 4th everyone!

07-04-2007, 01:20 PM
Well, I woke up with a sinus infection this morning. I have felt it coming on for a few days but tried to fight it. I've been OP so far but don't feel much like eating. I did manage to avoid temptation last night at the church cookout. We just ate here at home and went for fellowship later!

Dan: lookin' good on cam there! It still amazes me the power FIRE hate to see the destruction but to me it is still amazing!

Britt & Boo's Mom: I'm a teacher wanna be! I think my job in the school is as close as I will get....but that's okay. I think my real passion and calling is foster care.

Well I'm sure I'll be lurking today....going to try and get some things done while DH is's time to sort all these kids clothes I've collected.....what a mess!

07-04-2007, 01:40 PM
Happy Independence Day everyone! Hopefully we'll all be independent of the bad habits that have held us for so long...

Boosmom - I'm feeling ya. My scale was up 2.5 from a week ago. Though on Monday they said I was down 1/2 pound. I had some very salty almonds last night so maybe some lemon water today will do the trick. I haven't been good with exercise and I know that's a big part of it.

Mizz T - GREAT JOB! On Monday at COD there was a woman in there who was at least 70 years old. As she was leaving she told us she's lost 15 inches! The gal that did my WI is also overweight and we were laughing saying "Well there goes that excuse of not being able to lose weight after 30!"

Dan - How exciting! Good job!

Katy - Enjoy your laid back day. That's what I'm going to try to do even though my neighbor/friend is bugging the **** out of me and counting on me to be the big entertainment at her party. I need to get some sort of exercise today despite the big crowd camped outside.

Tammie - I'm sorry to hear you're still stuck in rain. I'll send sunny wishes your way.

Lettie - Wendy is right, back up as much as you can. You need to reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows. It's a pain, but the Blue Screen Of Death will stop and it will run like new again.

Wendy - you've done a great job! Flaunt it a little on the beach today!

Jillian - Scooter is adorable! Lots of mischief in those eyes... and YOU are gorgeous!

Tina - I'm glad DD is doing better. She just needs lots of loves from her Mama now! Maybe you can enjoy the 4th after all!

Amy - Stay strong in Vegas! You can do it! I can see why you'd miss SD. I've lived here for 9 1/2 years and I still love every palm tree, every grain of sand and every sunny day. When I visit other areas, I just can't wait to be home again. Too bad our local government is so bad, it's going to take a while to get out of the "Enron By The Sea" scandals. I'm sure the cost of living in Sacramento is much more reasonable. It seems the harder I work and the more money I make, the more they take from me.

I just looked at my cell phone and remembered it rang at 6AM and it was from the chopper hangar. I turned it off when I saw that. LOL. There's no message so hopefully the place wasn't burning down. The other two chopper reporters were teasing me yesterday that I only work the weekends in that thing and they're in there everyday but I know more about what's going on with it than they do.

Ok, I'm going to start drinking some hot lemon water so I won't be all swollen the rest of the day and venture out to say hi to people. One of my neighbors fixed my yard up for me the other day so I owe him something nice. I was going to try to tackle it today and he beat me to it. Cleaned the patio, mowed the lawn, trimmed the hedges and pulled the weeds!

07-04-2007, 03:32 PM
Liza - hope the lemon water works! It usually does for me.

We are getting a serious downpour here right now. It started about 2 hours ago and is showing no signs of letting up. Good thing we didn't have major outdoor plans! I did inject a pork loin and had planned to grill it, but if the weather doesn't let up, we can always just bake it, so no biggie. Today is the kind of day that I used to gather the kids in the kitchen and we'd either bake cookies or bread. I'm really not ready for that temptation yet!

Happy 4th of July my American friends!'

It is smokin hot here today, and forecast that for the rest of the week. Today is supposed to get to 34 C and Friday is supposed to be 39C . I don't know what that is in Farenheit, but it is well over 100. Just got home from golfing - and wowie - glad we were done before noon!

Hope you will be golfing soon Kim!

Wendy - you look fantastic. Just get out that swimsuit and have a great time.

Jill - love the picture - you look fantastic to.

Tina - glad your baby is feeling better. You have done awesome with losses lately .... keep it up.

Dan - hope you guys can keep that fire under contol - nothing worse than fire. Good Luck - and by the way you look great.

Liza - hope your day is going okay.... I am sure you are missing minime - but, don't forget to have a life yourself. Enjoy that lemon water. I prefer my lemon with a salted ceaser, but I guess that kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it.

Lettie - I don't know alot about the techical end of things with the computer, but I think that your problem - not a good thing. I kind of think that your computer might be toast. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. (don't let it set you back - stay away from the drive thrus)

Okay - I knew I should have taken notes - but duh .... didn't. So, I will just shout out to you all to have a great day, and where ever you are, hope your having a fun time.

LOL well as it turns out I don't think I need that lemon water. My landlady called and said she is going to stay the night here so she can be a part of all of the parties. She retired to Mexico so she stays here when she's stateside. I got off the phone with her and started cleaning like a madwoman. It's so much easier when Mini Me is not here to clean. So I found a blessing in the kiddos absence! Anyway, I think I've sweat out all of the excess water. I'm in a much better mood now too. I used to be OCD about housecleaning and everything being immaculate. Over the past year, after moving into a MUCH smaller space I've slowly let things go and haven't been happy. Maybe now EVERYTHING in my life is getting back on track!

Good luck getting through the heat wave. It's muggy and 80 on the beach. I'm going to go shower up now and get ready for my company.

07-04-2007, 07:07 PM
I finally got DD to eat something...not much, but something. She seems to be feeling much better. We had a nice relaxing family day...didn't do much of anything but hang out.

I just found a really cool idea...I have been bombarded with crafts from my DD. Between her new preschool and kids church, my refrigerator is full of artwork and it's spreading through the house. So I was going to get a scrapbook or something cuz God forbid I actually throw away anything that she made.:) So I found this suggestion take pictures of the artwork, etc., and only keep the really special ones. Then I can use the pictures to make notecards, collages, placemats...or knowing me, they'll just live in my computer. But I'm really excited about this!

07-04-2007, 09:09 PM
Hey everyone!!! I thought I would check in. I have a pork loin in the rotisserie and all of the sides ready to go and we will be eating in about half hour. I have been POP today even at the softball game! So it has been a good day. However, I have not made any headway with packing and washing clothes and I leave sunday lol.

Ok I gotta run and check on dinner!!!

Have a great night!!!!

Happy 4th of July to all the US'ers out there.

Today was going pretty good and then I got a call from my ex telling me that my Chancey had been attacked by another dog tonight about 630p. He said the vet said she was ok. He literally had to boot the other dog off of her. She apparently had a puncture wound on her belly and is on antibiotics and painkillers for awhile. The Dr left the wound open to let it drain and we have to try over the next few days to not have a scab form. I tell ya this is the type of call I dread where I don't have her all the time. I will see her tomorrow after work. He is going to confront the owner of the other dog and report it to the mini-home park owner as well. I am taking my camera tomorrow night too to get some pictures of it. I tell ya I had a good cry. maybe oversentimental but I can't help it!!!

Otherwise today wasn't too bad. Warm here. Back to work and on the phone again until the weekend and then next week after my birthday break I am back in training for 3 weeks.

I'll check in later....

07-04-2007, 11:46 PM
Allannah i am glad she is going to be ok. Hopefully she will be back with you soon. Keep up the good work!!!

I probably wont be able to check in as much until I get back from Vegas. We had a very close friend of the family pass away yesterday she was like a second grandmother for me so I will be at the funeral home the next few days and I still have to pack and get ready for Vegas. So my time here might be limited but wanted to let yall know what was going on with me. I do go friday morning to WI and i will try to give you an update after that. So far so good this week so I am expecting a good result at WI.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!!!:wizard::flow1:

07-05-2007, 12:18 AM
Hey, what happened to Shannon? I haven't seen her post in ages. Rhonda is missing again too...and LIbby, and Sara, and UK Sarah...I could go on and on.

Pearl/Kim/Carrie -- Thank you for the words of encouragement. I did it, I weighed in. It was not great, up 4lbs due to all my eating out last week, but I'm back on track now. Okay, I ate 3 chips today...5 at the most, but really, otherwise, completely back on track.

Lea Ann -- That's pretty scary about your folks place and the flooding. I hope the water starts receding soon for them! I had found my happy-place for sticking to plan, before my restaurant spree last week, I just have to try it again. I think what I did before was be REALLY REALLY POP (no CCs, all fresh veggies, light proteins, etc) and then when I saw two good WI's in a row it kind of pumped me up. I need to get back to that too.

Heather -- Congrats on the pound lost!

Cassi -- The fruit kabobs sound totally yummy!

Snowdogs -- Thanks for the tips!

Barbara -- My cat is pretty much the devoted slave of our dog My cat and dog are pretty much cross-species lovers. They lick each other in the most unseemly places.

Pearl -- My mouth is watering, between the chicken in the smoker, and the fresh veggies from your garden -- yum!

Felicia -- WTG on your 3lb loss! You are doing so well. Good luck in selling your current home quickly. I'd love to see the tutu pics you mentioned, they sound so cute!

MT Deb -- Ouch, the spastic colon sounds painful to me. Glad to hear that you are on the mend though, and nothing drastic was needed to fix you up.

Jillian -- Hi! I love your new pic. You look great.

Nicole -- Hello in Wisconsin! I hope your DS surgery will go smoothly. Poor little guy.

Lettie -- Good to see you posting! Congrats on your 2.2lbs loss! Where is the job your DH has applied for? Sorry about the PC issues, I've heard of the blue screen of death too. I think at the very least you will have to reformat your hard drive. Save anything you can now to websites, or to disk, as it will be lost in the process.

Dan -- So cool to see you on that news piece! Wow, you're skinny! lol

Tina -- I saw an idea for keeping kids crafts...they just took an ordinary notebook and glued in the stuff. At least it keeps it all from flying around and getting ripped and stuff. I also have memory boxes for my DS, and I keep the cutest stuff and put it in there. Sometimes I amass a pile of stuff and then when it's a grandparent's birthday/mothers day/fathers day etc, I put some things in with the cards.

Alannah -- I am so sorry to hear that Chancy was attacked! How awful. Give her lots of extra hugs and treats to feel better.

Britt -- I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I hope you enjoy your time in Vegas.

Glad that your DD is feeling better !! I hate when my kids are sick

Well - I am sorta a teacher ;) I am a para professional - basically a fancy name for a teachers aide ;)

07-05-2007, 12:56 AM
Norissa - you ARE a teacher - just without the title. I had an aide in my class one year because I had several special needs students who only came to my class for a couple of hours each day. She came to give them extra assistance when needed, but she did SO much more than that! She was wonderful and helped ANY student who needed it when I couldn't get to him/her right away. It was great - like having another teacher with me. When I moved to another grade level, I missed her terribly!

07-05-2007, 01:15 AM
Thanks Felicia  I am still quite new at my job - I just started this past Oct, and just when I get used to things - school is out - lol When school starts back up I have a special needs kid (cute kid) starting kindergarten -- wheel chair bound - so my duty for the school year will be to be his aide - should be an interesting school year, I am looking forward to it - I think ! LOL

Good Morning! Sounds like everyone had a Happy 4th, even it it was a wet one:)

Liza - We did have a great day, even stayed home and watched the fireworks from the front porch....saw about 8 different "shows" that way and got to bed almost on time. I did find time to walk on the treadmill. Way to go on getting the house cleaned, it is easier without the kids around.

Tina - Glad your DD is feeling better and eating some. It is always a struggle when they don't feel well.

Britt - Vegas sounds wonderful, be strong but enjoy yourself. Sorry to hear about your friend's loss.

Hope everyone else has a great day! I'll check in later.

07-05-2007, 07:56 AM
Boy -- you guys were chatty even without me yesterday!
I have lots of work so this is my check in for today and I'm off for the day -

Felicia - the "tutu" photo shoot sounds adorable (post a picture of DD modeling if you get the chance) are one busy/creative gal.

Liza - I see you had a good day off and now a clean house to boot.

Dan - wow...thanks for checking in and letting us know you are doing okay. It was neat to be able to see your picture and hear the sound bite as well. We could put a face AND a voice behind Dan the man!

Jillian - love the Scooter pics..awwwwwwwww

Tina - glad folks are on the mend at your place.

Alannah - hugs for Chancey....glad your ex got her checked out at the vet. Let us know how she's doing.

Hi all (Lea Ann, Lettie, Tina, Tammie, AmyLou, Britty, Wendy, Heather, Katie, Karen, etc.

I like what Wendelina wrote:

So since today is Independence Day -- so it is for me as well. I'm recommitting to be "Independent" from the rest of this fat!!

As for me....was not POP yesterday, but I did do my 10K wog (walk/jog) plus about 4 extra miles of walking to park, get to the start of the race, back to the car, etc. I was exhausted. I didn't even bother stepping on the scale this morning..I just stepped back on the program. Lots of work to do today so I'm shutting down my home PC and honkering down to get some work done so I don't have to work all weekend!

07-05-2007, 09:27 AM
Joni - congrats on the run/walk! That's awesome! DH does triathlons and he said once, "Isn't it just so cool how Jeff and Lori (friends of ours) both do triathlons? It must be SO cool to do that together!" I told him it didn't matter if I weighed 120 pounds, I would never have any interest in putting myself through that! A run or walk would be nice one day, but I have no desire to do triathlons!

I stayed POP yesterday, but when I looked last night at the stuff I injected the pork loin with, I was horrified to see that it has 700mg. of sodium in each TABLESPOON!! I didn't use much, but MAN! I'm sure I'll go through this day all salted up!

07-05-2007, 10:08 AM
Norissa - do you have to have a degree to be a teacher's aide? I think that may be something I would like to do in my next career.:)

Felicia - I wish you lived closer to me...I love, love, love the tutu idea. I'd bring my DD to you all the time for pictures! I'll bet you get a lot of business.

Joni - Huge Congrats on the 10K and then some! I was actually thinking yesterday that it has been 5 years since I did my last 5K. It was on the 4th of July. I'd like to get to the point where I can do that again. It's a great moral boost when you cross that finish line!

Angie - I thought about the notebook thing...actually, I was picturing some sort of scrapbook to put the pictures in. But at the rate I'm going - at about 3 pictures per week - I'll have more scrapbooks than I'd know what to do with...but maybe I can do that for the really special ones. The problem is that they're all really special to me right now.:(

Big (((hugs))) to Britt and Alannah...

07-05-2007, 10:12 AM
Oh, and thanks again for all the well-wishes for DD.

I didn't get to tell you all that she kinda got beat up at preschool on Monday...can you imagine?! This month, they have some kids from a nearby school bussed in...the kids all have disabilities - both physicall and mentally challenged. Anyway, one of the boys apparantly took a liking to my DD and followed her around all morning. Everything was fine at first...but apparantly the boy doesn't understand good touching from bad touching (pinching, etc.) He grabbed my DD's face with both hands and scratched up her nose, cheeks and neck. My heart sunk when I picked her up. But the boy has now been separated from DD so it won't happen again.

07-05-2007, 10:23 AM
Norissa - do you have to have a degree to be a teacher's aide? I think that may be something I would like to do in my next career.:)

here in MO you need to have 60 college credit hours - I have 60 + in early childhood education (just never finished my degree, "life" took over ;) )

07-05-2007, 10:24 AM
Hi all! Have to catch up on this thread, but wanted to check in this morning.

Made a really yummy low fat potato salad and cucumber salad yesterday and cooked a london broil on the grill. Was POP until we went to the mall and hit the popcorn place. Could have been worse, but the scale is down a little still so that's a victory anyway. I'll try and post the potato salad in the next few days.

OK... gotta get some work done. Be back in a bit.

Britt- So sorry to hear about your friend.

Angie- No worries, that 4 lbs will fall off in no time!

Alannah- Wow, poor Chancey. I hope that ex DH does report that. He should make them pay his vet bills!

Joni- Great job on the "Wog"! You are my shero! Have a productive work day, working over the weekend sucks!

Katy- Way to get to bed on time. I am jealous. We did not get home until after 11:00, did not get to bed until after midnight, and I had to be to work at 5:00 this morning. I am sitting here at my desk with bloodshot eyes wondering what the heck I was thinking.

Felicia- I am with you. Way too much salt, way too much wine and Mojitos, my fingers and ankles are all swollen up. Definitely hot lemon water for me today!

As for me, we had a busy 4th, very nice day. We went to the parade in our town, then had lunch with my folks and my grandma. Then we went home, took a 2 hour nap in the A/C (it was 98 here yesterday), then drove to my sister's house 30 miles away for a barbeque. My DBIL had a whole driveway fireworks show planned, complete with music. It was so great. We played basketball, ran through the sprinkler, drank too much, and just relaxed. After it got dark, we all drove way up on the hills near their house to watch the fireworks show. Just an all around nice day.

I have 2 questions:

1- Do any of you get migraines? I have had 4 of them in the last 3 days. No idea why, they started on Sunday. Any thoughts, tips, or anything?

2- We are looking at one of those big blue swimming pools that you buy at Wal Mart. It is getting close to 100 degrees here everyday, and we are dying. Have any of you ever bought one, and what was your experience with them?

07-05-2007, 10:28 AM
Katie - I don't get migraines, but a friend of mine does. He recently started getting them more frequently, so in desperation he bought one of those magnetic necklaces. May be a coincidence, but that migraines have gone away.

Can't help you out with the pool, but there is a house down from mine that has had one in their yard for two summers they must hold up fairly well.

07-05-2007, 10:29 AM
Tina- Oh, that is terrible about your DD getting hurt. It happens, though. We have some kids here who are just prone to hurting others. I hope that experience doen't make her afraid to go to school.

Cassie- How did you do your cucumber salad?

07-05-2007, 10:43 AM
Tina - I love taking pictures of kids! DH and I have had an event photography business (races, ballgames, Mardi Gras balls, etc.) for about a year. In April, I took some photos of DD and some of DS in May. Some of them are in my profile. Since then, I've been getting requests from friends (who've seen the pics) to set up photo sessions for their kids. This has led to DH and I starting a new division of our photography company. The tutu session will be my first major undertaking - with more than one subject.

I eventually want to do portrait parties where a hostess invites friends to come have portraits made. They only pay a $15 sitting fee, all the photos are posted online and they buy what they want online. They can even send the URL and password to relatives and friends who can then decide to buy as well. The hostess gets free photos determined by the sales from her party. The hostess will also choose the theme - Mommy and Me, Daddy and Me, Tea Party/Dress Up, Princesses, Snips and Snails (little boys), etc. All the hostess has to provide is light refreshments and a quiet corner or backyard for the photos. Sort of like a Tupperware party, but with a camera!

Felicia, what a fantastic idea. I can only imagine how much business you would get.

07-05-2007, 10:49 AM
morning everyone. i had the day off yesterday and i today, so i'm going to clean the house up a bit and try out my new tae bo dvd. :)
for some odd reason the scale is up 2lbs. no clue. tom isn't that close and i've been POP, getting my water no clue. anyways. i was going to go to COD today, but i don't feel like seeing a gain on their scale. especially when it's for nothing! so i'm going to go on saturday.

katie--about the blue pools from walmart, my former DH just bought one from target and he said the kids love it and it's one of the best things he's bought. he bought the one with the frame which is a bit more, but said it was worth it. hope that helps. sorry about the migraines.

07-05-2007, 10:50 AM
Joni -- WTG on your wogging! I need to start doing that again. I used to walk religiously on my lunch, and my legs looked so great. I miss my sexy legs! CAn you remind me what kind of work you do? I'm so curious about anyone who works from home. I'd love to do that.

Felicia -- REmember hot lemon water is your friend after pork loins like that. :D

Tina -- Eek, I get so upset when DS gets hurt by another kid at daycare. It hasn't happened often, but it really shakes me up each time. With him it's always been bites from his friends though.

**Warning, Shameless Mommy Brag Follows**
Cameron just moved from his toddler class to his preschool class this week. This morning they gave me his final report for toddlers, and he's highly developed at about 75% of the skills listed, and developed at the other 25%. Yay, it's like mostly A's with a few B's I know it's only about playing nicely and putting on his own shoes for now, but still, I'm so proud of him. :o

Katie -- You're right, I went to WI again this morning and I've lost 2.4 of the 4 lbs I I hope the other two will be gone by Saturday when I WI again. Your day yesterday sounds so perfect, nap, fireworks, BBQ, drinks and sprinklers, I love it! My DH gets migraines, but we can't figure out a pattern to avoid at all. When he does get them the best over the counter meds seems to be Advil Migraine for him. About the pool, I don't know about kind, but I can ask my DH if he knows much about them. In the summers that's what he does, he installs above ground pools, but I think they are mostly the aluminum/plastic kind.

07-05-2007, 11:03 AM
Morning ladies..

I'm back at the office and dealing with wrapping up the fire from the PR standpoint.. It was a good trip.. Wish it had been more eventful from the fire/media standpoint, but if it ain't gonna burn, it ain't gonna burn...

Feeling the effects of being mostly off plan for the past couple of days.. Was up 6 lbs on the scale this morning, but I figure that can't be right.. Probably a result of salty foods and such.. Didn't stick to plan last night for 4th of July festivities either, but it's too soon for that to show up as real weight.. We'll see what happens over the next couple of days.. We're off to Roswell on Saturday for a belated 4th celebration with the in-laws, but we usually do pretty well when we visit down there..

Lots to catch up on, so I'll talk to y'all later!

07-05-2007, 11:13 AM
Lettie -- Good to see you posting! Congrats on your 2.2lbs loss! Where is the job your DH has applied for? Sorry about the PC issues, I've heard of the blue screen of death too. I think at the very least you will have to reformat your hard drive. Save anything you can now to websites, or to disk, as it will be lost in the process.

Thanks! I am about to go in right now. I think I am down a half a pound over the 4th. DHs job would be in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. which is right outside of Eau Claire and about 1 1/2 hours east of Minneapolis, MN. it is also about 4 hours north of my parents. right now we live about 12 hours south of them.

yesterday was an emotional roller coaster. I was all set to spend the 4th without our closests friends and with my husband and two oldest kids out of town. My three younger kids and I went to the city pool to spend the day and then stay until the fireworks at night. as we parked and were getting our stuff out of the back of the car I could see a big pick up out of the corner of my eye, parking too close to my truck and I thought. "that jerk is not going to fit in there!" and then I turned my head and looked and it was MY HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER!!! they had driven 26 hours to get home to us! I wasn't expecting them home for another 4 or 5 days! it was great. so we all went to the pool together and once we were all burned good we decided we would rather go home and spend time together instead of wait for fireworks. but when we got home. My husband and my three younger kids went to the goat pen to feed the goat, but when they got there they found that my 10 year old and my 11 year old had left his collar on him when they put him away, he had jumped off his perch and caught it on something, and hung himself. and all the kids were right here finding it like that. they were screaming..... it was awful. he was such a nice goat. he was more like a pet dog. he followed my DH around when he worked in the yard, he played with the kids, and even let my son ride him, we will miss him so much.

on a happier note. I am now at one week drive thru free and feel pretty much cured. I have lost about 4 pounds this week of no drive thru. My DH just dangled a big carrot. He said when I hit 140 I get my tummy tuck AND a Mini Cooper with an iPhone!!! if that doesn't motivate me I don't know what will! (now how we could afford all that is another matter! but we can cross that bridge when we get to it)

ok, off to the COD.....!

(I am using my DHs laptop now that he is home. it is so nice to be able to get through what I need to with out seeing that dreaded blue screen!!)

07-05-2007, 11:26 AM
Lettie--how exciting that your family surprised you!!! (so sorry about the goat--that sucks)

Sounds like everyone enjoyed their 4th--even if we were a little on the POOP side. I did all my daily *itching on the exercise thread so I won't do it again. Geez. I should've gone ahead and had the margarita!

More later--laundry calls

07-05-2007, 11:26 AM
Katie - The cucumber salad was just cucumber sliced thin w/rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, scallions and chopped peanuts. I think I will make it without the sesame oil and peanuts next time, though, because I don't need it, but wanted to make the recipe I saw the way it was printed the first time. I think there was some kosher salt too, and maybe sugar? I'll bring the recipe w/me tomorrow and post it. But the peanuts (1 1/2T for the whole 4 servings, and 1 tsp for 4 servings, was really nothing, but added some good flavor.

As for the pool, we bought a blue pool last year. But we got the bigger one with the poles instead of the inflatable. It was $500 at Target. It's 18ft around and 4ft deep. We like it. And it's lasted all through the year. You just have to make sure that the area you put the pool in is level. I remember last summer Sherry (dolphin) bought a pool and kept having to go back to the store to buy sand to level it out.

Basically you take the diameter of the pool and add 6"-12" around it. Put a pole in what will be your center and tie a string to that is the same length as what will be the outside border. To the other end of the string tie a can of marking paint. Have one person hold the pole and the other sprays the area of the pool with the marking paint. Then you can dig out that area to make it level. Sounds like a lot of work, but it's not terribly bad and then you know the pool will last for a few years.

Also I was told that when you start filling it to add chlorine at the beginning. That way your levels should be good once the pool is filled and you won't have as much adjusting to do.

07-05-2007, 11:28 AM
Hi all....sounds like everyone had a good 4th of July.....It has been raining here for DAYS so we couldn't do our cookout party as we usually do. We did have a small break in the rain so DH and I found a golf course in another town that wasn't flooded, we made it to the 14th hole before the rain started again. We fininished the last 4 holes but we where soaked and the only people left on the course...ha...ha. Then we went back home and went to oldest DD's house for a while, cooked, ate and painted some things for the new baby's room. We got back home and I worked on DSIL's (dear son-in-law) uniforms. He's a fire fighter and needed his EMT patches replaced on a couple of his shirts. The rest of the kids went to their friends houses for fireworks after oldest DD's house so DH and I had a nice and quiet house for a couple of hours.

Nicole- sorry about DS....glad you all made the trip safely.

Tina- glad DD is better - sorry about her experience....

Lettie-stupid computers....ugh....

Felicia- its an exciting time for you-dont' fret too much about selling the other house, I'm sure it will sell quickly - love the TUTU idea

Dan-glad you made it back safe and sound...great clip

Jillian-great new avatar

Heather-sorry your feeling poorly-I hate sinus infections!

Lea Ann- How are your parents?--it's been reaining here for Days....I hope they are still dry.

Joni-sounds like a good day even if your weren't POP. Lots of exercising probably made up for it!

:wave:Britt, Amy, Angie, Norissa, Karen, Liza, Allannah, Katie, BoosMom, Barbara, Katy, and Leticia

07-05-2007, 11:44 AM
Oh my goodness, did have an emotional rollercoaster kinda day. I was pretty excited when you said you had a goat because DH and I have been considering getting one for my DD...but how sad.

As far as the big prizes at you said "If that doesn't motivate you, nothing will" it can be a challenge for everyone here to keep you POP!!!

07-05-2007, 11:48 AM
Katie - DD wasn't afraid to go to school today at all. She knows that the little boy won't be allowed to play with her anymore. We did teach her something that maybe we shouldn't have (it may backfire on us one day). DH and I said that if someone at school tries to hurt her, she should push him away and yell "MOLLY..." (that's her teacher), and run away. She has a tendency to not want to stick up for herself because she knows that it's bad to hurt someone else. I don't want her to just stand there and take it, either. Just as long as she understands that it's not normally okay to push, we'll be fine.

07-05-2007, 11:50 AM
Morning Everyone
I haven't been posting this week as I've been looking for the ring!!! It is nowhere to be found so today I'm going to clean the house (translated tear apart absolutely everything in my path). Thanks for the good vibes and I've even sent a few special requests to St. Anthony thanks to Angie and some others.
Glad you all had a good 1st and 4th of July. I am going hardcore on my plan this week to get back to my regular meal planning, cooking etc after the British Invasion and the tendency to start enjoying my cocktails, nibbles etc a bit too often on weekends and after the kids go to bed. So have been doing a bit of a 5 day cleanse, taking my vitamins, drinking my water and getting myself back on track.. these dang holidays take a toll on the waistline.
There were pages and pages of posts but Katie go for the pool, Cassi I hope back is okay, Angie be proud mommy, Lettie happy about reunion and sad about goat, jillian still think of you with every sip of java and you are looking great, Dan.. awestruck to see you live you superstar you!, Joni you must be the only person I know that did a 5k while the rest of us were indulging, Nicole hope DS is okay, Tina sorry DD got sick and bullied and Alannah sorry about Chancey, Leticia hope all is good with you!

To the rest of you I hope you are all going well. It's great to see some of you back and checking in. Fireworks are over and it's time for us all to get back on plan!!

07-05-2007, 11:59 AM
I almost forgot...Lettie - brag away, I would!!!

07-05-2007, 12:02 PM
Hi Kristen... Sorry you're still having to turn the place upside down, hunting for your ring... Liz went through something similar recently with an earring I gave her last year..

She wore them on her trip to California. On their way home, she had taken them off and thought she had put them in a suitcase.. When they got home, she couldn't find one of them.. She tore the place apart trying to find it, but to no avail... Eventually, she gave it up as lost (which didn't make me happy, as they were pretty expensive, but I digress)...

Long story longer, I found the earring on Monday night.. Right where she thought she had lost it in the first place - her suitcase..

So the moral of the story is to take a step back for a while and don't obsess about finding it. Then, in a week or so, take a look around, especially in the area where you think you lost it... Often times, the best hiding place is right there under your nose...

I know that sounds pretty lame, but you never know.. It might work...

07-05-2007, 12:19 PM
Dan.. you rock!

Good Morning,

hope you all survived the 4th of July parties. Its another smokin hot day here today, but it is welcomed because we have had so much cool weather and rain all thru June.

Congrats Joni on you wogging success ..... you said you were shutting your computer down to stay away - don't stay away to long - we will miss you!

Angie - be a proud mamma!

Lettie - how exciting for you about dh and dd - so sorry about the goat.

Katie - I don't experience migraines, but my sister in law has them really bad. Steer away from coffee, chocolate - anything with caffeinne. Stay in a dark place - the light can trigger them. The bracelet idea helps a bit. I wear a magnetic bracelet for my arm. My sil gets them so bad, she often has to go to emergency for a shot. Hope yours don't get that bad!

Tina, glad to hear your dd is feeling better, she sounds like a very well mannered little girl. When my ds was little he wouldn't stick up for himself either - his older brother would pick on him and fight over toys etc. Finally the little one had enough - he was actually as big as older brother who was 3 years older - and he pushed him back and that was the end of the problem.

Felicia - your photo parties sound just to cute - I so wished you lived around here. I would definetly hire you to get some pictures of my gran babies.

Kristen - still sending you good vibes to find that ring. It will probably turn up somewhere you least expect it, when you aren't even looking for it. Glad to see you are doing okay - look forward to you joining the group on regular basis again.

Hello's to Carrie, Katie, Lee Ann, Sarah, Jill, Pearl, Liza, Dan and Liz, Kim and Kim, and everyone else.

As for me today, I have a dentist appt this aft - nasty filling breaking out - I hate that ..... dentists are my biggest fear ! Other than that I need to go bra shopping ..... mine are all getting to big if you can imagine. The girlfriends want to fall out while swinging a golf club.... can't have that. After that, I plan to relax in my back yard with a good book that I just started. I just found these books by Jodi Picoult - anyone ever read her books? I am on the third one in a month, and I just can't put them down.

Will check in later .....

07-05-2007, 12:38 PM
I have a quick question -- I am out of bars today, and not able to run right now, what should I add to my food today ? I am on the Gold Plan -- I am actually going back and forth about trying an all food plan anyway -- but I think I would miss my "sweets" for the day :dizzy: ugh - I am just so indecisive :p

07-05-2007, 12:51 PM
Norissa - If you didn't do bars they would move you to purple, which is an extra veggie and 2oz more protein for each serving. Not much more...

07-05-2007, 12:58 PM
Thanks Cassi !!!

07-05-2007, 01:27 PM
Not sure if this is an options, but at my COD, they once told me that if I find myself out of bars, to either eat additional green veggies (cut up a cucumber for a snack) or eat an orange when I'd normally eat a bar.. Low in calories, and satisfies the "sweet" urge at snack time.

Those options don't fill the protein void left when you don't have bars to eat, but they're better than a trip to the vending machine!

07-05-2007, 03:40 PM
Lettie, I can't imagine the horror for your babies! That is the pits! Of course you had me on an emotional rollercoaster with your post about parking and the big truck and the "that jerk is not going to fit in there"... I was expecting the see the word "crash", side swiped, or something... so when I saw the outcome, I literally did an audible "WHEW!" :lol3:

Katie - I say get the pool. My best friend (that just moved far away) bought one for her girls and it lasted two seasons and they packed it and took it with them to the new place. Like Cassi said, make sure you do it level!

Tina - you reminded me of my first grade "bully" - a boy that liked to pull my hair and run up behind me on the playground and grab me around the neck. My older brother told me to let him grab my neck, grab hold of his arm, bend over really quickly, and see what happens. Well, I did it and that little boy went FLYING over my head onto his back! OMG! I was sure the teacher was gonna get me because he was crying like I had really hurt him. She walked over and told him to get up and get over it because your reap what you sew and he deserved what he got after picking on me for so long. I've never had to deal with a bully since, but I'll never forget that!

KrispieD - I agree with Dan, sometimes you just have to take a step back. I hope you find it soon!

Karen - best wished at the Dentist! I had terrible experiences as a child and now suffer from terrible fears of the dentist! :yikes:

Well, I've got veggies and protein portioned out for the week and protein in the freezer for next week. My cole slaw was good but the cabbage was bitter, nothing you can do about that! We decided at the last moment to do a batch of spicy turkey burgers on the grill with the chicken we had smoked. Turned out okay, but dh is afraid to use the spices like I do, so they were really bland... gotta luv him for trying!
Gotta go get ready for work. I'll check in later tonight.

Happy Thursday aka Monday number 2!

Hope everyone in the US had a great holiday. I went over on my starches and fats a lil but still showed a 1lb loss today, enough to win the $10 credit! So that made me happy.
I'm sorry I'm in a bit of a rush today and haven't been able to fully read everyone's posts...
but Lettie- I'm so sorry that what should have been such a joyous day turned into tragedy. I know your family wanted to be home for you, but it seems like something more was pulling them home. Finding that sight by yourself probably would have been worse. I'm glad your dh was home. I'm so sorry for your loss I can't imagine.

I've gotta run now but hope everyone is feeling great and living POP!

Whew! 3 1/2 hours in my classroom and I'm about 2/3 of the way finished! I was all alone at school, so there were no distractions! I had to giggle to myself about the fact that this year, I'll be the kind of teacher I usually think dark thoughts about! Every other year, when I finally DRAG myself to school to work on my classroom before school starts, there are always 3 or 4 teachers who have already done EVERYTHING. Their rooms are perfect and they even have everything run off already! I always congratulate them sweetly and then think mean things about them when I turn to trudge back to my classroom!! This year, the other teacher will think mean things about me!!

Off to DS's swim lesson! It's his first time for private lessons. I hope all goes well since he has his heart set on trying out for the city swim team!

07-05-2007, 05:05 PM
Felicia - What grade do you teach? DH is teaching 5th grade this year for the first time. He's been in third every other year (I think 12 total) except for his third year when he taught 2nd. BTW... haven't really had time to comment, but your future house is absolutely gorgeous! Home prices are so ridiculous here that there is no way we could get anything close to that on a teacher's salary. I hope your closing and move go very smoothly. As a real estate paralegal, I know that it's always a stressful thing. Just remember that if there are any problems that arise with the closing, they will get worked out.

07-05-2007, 05:19 PM
Cassi - I teach 2nd - this will be my 5th year at this grade level. Prior to this, I've taught every grade from 1st-11th. This is, by far, my favorite grade. Thanks for the comments about the house. Our housing market is pretty crazy right now, too, and since Louisiana is at the very bottom of the teacher salary scale, there's no way we could afford this house on a teacher's salary either. DH's job pays better and our photography business is starting to help out, too. We've also been applying Dave Ramsey's financial concepts for a year or two, so we're debt-free except for our current mortgage. Otherwise, we'd be stuck in this house for SEVERAL more years! LOL

Took DS to his swim lesson and his swim teacher is GORGEOUS! She just graduated from high school and she's really sweet. Like most kids, DS usually responds well to sweet, pretty teachers, so I think he'll do great!

Hi all,

My plan to treat the 4th of July like a normal day, was not exactly enough of a plan for me to stay POP. Oh well, I wasn't horrible, just ate too many starches and maybe too much fat. On the positive side, I tried the Key Lime pie recipe from the dessert thread and it is really good.

The furniture I am refinishing is all turning out pretty good. I painted it a cream color and it looks so fresh and clean now. I got physically exhausted by it all, and just didn't have the energy to go and work out after that. I figure hours and hours of sanding and painting has to count for something execise wise, since I didn't make it Sunday either for the same reason. I''ve got to get back on track tonight though. I think I will go and buy that biggest loser DVD. That sounded like a challenge.

NSV, yesterday my DH said I looked leaner than I did when I started the stabilization program.. measured and my waist is an inch smaller, even if the scale hasn't really moved. Since I had hoped to drop just a couple of pounds during stabilization so the goal weight would be the top of my weight range, and I didn't, that made me feel better about it. I don't know.. maybe it is just the skin sucking back in? I swear it is doing that a bit.

Allanah, I'm so sorry to hear that Chancey was attacked like that. It has to be much worse to hear about it and not be able to check him out yourself to see that he is OK!

Lettie, my husband has been obsessed with getting a goat lately (not that we have any place to put it and he is the one who has declared NO MORE DOGS to me regularly). So sad that your kids had to see that! I hope they are not too traumatized.

Katie, my dh gets migraines, and they do seem to come in bunches. Stress can make them worse, but it is not predictable.

Karen, I have a big dentist fear myself. I hope it is all painfree for you.

to all you other chicks and roosters. Hope you are having a POP day! I'm right back to being OP after yesterday's holiday lapse.

07-05-2007, 05:38 PM
Barbara - You definitely weren't alone in the "lapse" yesterday! I swear wouldn't it be so cool if we could all just pair up for holidays? Holiday buddies would probably make this much easier.

07-05-2007, 05:53 PM
Karen - I have a terrible fear of Dentists also, stemming back to childhood like Pearl said....what did those terrible dentists do to us when we were children, it was always like going to a torture chair:fr:...thank goodness things have come a long way since then. I now have a terrific Dentist and I rarely feel a thing even though I have terrible anxiety. I hope your visit goes well.

Pearl- good for you - (bully story) thank God for big brothers, they come in handy sometimes....Tinawhen my son was young, about first grade, he was picked on by some third graders every day during recess and in the after school pick up line. I was so tempted to go to the school and talk to the teachers but was afraid that would just make it worse. It got so bad that my daughters who were in the third and fifth grade at the time would witness these bully episodes toward my son and wanted to beat the boys up themselves but I told them that their brother would have to learn to take up for himself. Well, after a couple of months, he had enough and fought back. Of course, I received a call from the principal and to my surprise he said he knew the situation and was glad my son had finally had taken up for himself. Well, at least he never was picked on again. Sometimes you just have to show them your not going to take it anymore.

07-05-2007, 05:58 PM

I knew it was a dangerous combination... first week of maintenance and a holiday... like a flashing neon sign that said eat now!

07-05-2007, 06:03 PM
Barbara - The good news is now that you've made it to maintenance, all you really have to do is eat OP for a few days and you should be OK!

07-05-2007, 06:25 PM
Happy Thursday aka Monday number 2!

Hope everyone in the US had a great holiday. I went over on my starches and fats a lil but still showed a 1lb loss today, enough to win the $10 credit! So that made me happy.
I'm sorry I'm in a bit of a rush today and haven't been able to fully read everyone's posts...

I've gotta run now but hope everyone is feeling great and living POP!

you are so right, I hadn't even considered what I would have done if he had not been home. I felt really bad. It was really my DH's goat. and he loved him so. and after not seeing him for two weeks having to see him like that..... I am so ready for some good news. In the 6 years we have lived here we have lost 4 jobs, 6 cats, 2 dogs, 30+ chickens, 4 ducks, 5 goats, 1 bunny, two hampsters, 4 guinea pigs, and 2 fish and the only one that was of old age was the two fish! ....I think. and they were all tragic and some very strange, one dog ate an old dead mouse and got botulism one dog got heat stroke and died a week later of heart faliure, but before he died (he was a lab) in his two years of life he managed to play hard with and kill half the chickens, two of the goats and the bunny, the cats were all run over one by my DH in our own drive way. and the rest of the chickens and ducks were eaten by either Hawks or raccoons or little fox or something. it is all very exhausting.

07-05-2007, 06:28 PM
Nicole!!!!! come out and play! .......missing you!

07-05-2007, 06:57 PM
Katie – I get migraines frequently. The best relief for me is caffeine. I’ve also heard people say, as strange as it may sound, that Benadryl works great because it has something to do with it being an antihistamine but I’ve never tried it, so I don’t know. When I was pregnant with DS I had a migraine for 6 months straight, I even went to a neurologist for help and because I was pregnant all he could prescribe was vicodin. I almost flipped! I said to him I can have a narcotic like vicodin, but I can’t take an Excedrin migraine or a simple little Advil. Needless to say, I didn’t take then, I just suffered!

07-05-2007, 07:01 PM
just checking in again...i ended up doing 2 workouts today. the taebo dvd and then 20mins on my elliptical. i'm not too sure i like the taebo dvd i got because the main thing they use is those resistance bands..that go around your feet and i don't have any. but it was a good workout anyways.
but i bought myself an mp3 player earlier this week (for all the traveling i do and for a reward for myself!) and i wanted to try it out while working out on the elliptical. it was great. i also did some ab and arm workouts too.
guess i went exercise crazy today because i'm mad that the scale is up. boo.

i guess there are a few reasons as to why, but not being POP isn't one of them.

anyways, i'm off to make dinner. hope everyone has a great night. i might be back later!

btw--debbie?? where are you girl? i want to do a short challenge with you so i can stay on track while i'm on vacay again...and i want to lose another 5lbs before i go..where are you????

07-05-2007, 07:25 PM
hi.... just checking in.
Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes at the dentist. It was actually quite pain free! A little sliver of tooth had broke off, and he was able to patch it up without even having to have the nasty freezing. I was in and out in half an hour.

Whew .... I feel so much better now that its over.

I will check in again later,

07-05-2007, 08:17 PM
:dizzy:I’ve got to check in more often people! 10 pages is too much to have to catch up on, makes my head hurt! LOL

Britt, I’m in East TN, Maryville, about 20 miles south of Knoxville. I have family in Clarksville! Way to go on losing on vacation! That’s awesome!

Liza-I am having a blast being able to tuck things in. I bought my first pair of low ok, lower rise jeans and tucked my shirt on and even wore a belt! :::gasp::: I also don’t look for shirts anymore that are long enough to hide my gut, cause I don’t have one! Wooo hooo! LOL

Barbara-Way to go on Maintenance. I’ll be on stabilization if I ever get the munchies back under control! LOL

Angie-Thanks for the mental picture, made me laugh! I brought a veggie tray to the cookout, had lots of celery! LOL

Dan-My daughter has a best friend in Farmington. She went there for a visit last Christmas and had a blast. Be safe out there! WOW our own celeb. Just watched the news clip!

Way to go Felicia on your 20 pound mark! You rock girlie!

Lettie-Way to go on your loss! You’re back on track. Good luck with the job hunt. I know its frustrating.

Everybody else have a great evening and I promise not to be MIA for more than a day at a time, you people are too chatty to keep up! LOL

07-05-2007, 10:56 PM
I know what you mean Kim! So much to catch up on while only being gone a few days! AND.. Pearls back! :carrot:

I think I'd better do some in depth reading instead of skimming so I know what's going on in everyone's world.. more later.

07-05-2007, 11:28 PM
Hi Everyone!

I'm soooo sleepy I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I read through all of the pages but am too tired to do my comments now.

I was VERY good at the barbecue yesterday. It helped that none of it looked good to me. Potato salad in the sun... yucky. I actually didn't get all of my food in for the day which is bad, but better than over eating and choosing bad things. I had a liquid starch that kicked my bum and I felt it this morning. I'm not a vodka drinker... I wrapped my get together up very late for me, 12:30AM! Unfortunately, the neighbors kept going for two more hours and I had to be to work at 4:30AM. Again, I'm wiped out.

I was down another 1/2 lb at WI today. That adds up to 1 lb this week. Not great, but at least it's a loss. Every time I have gone to WI there has been a loss so I'm happy about that. Baby steps right? TOM finally showed up so I'm sure there will be a better reflected loss on Monday's WI.

Sorry to those stuck in the crummy weather. I won't tell you what it was like here yesterday.

*yawn* as soon as the pets food is cooked I'm off to bed. Night night all.

07-06-2007, 12:03 AM
Lettie- I have been meaning to jump on all day and tell you I am so sorry to hear about your family's goat. What a terrible experience.

07-06-2007, 12:08 AM
greetings all! I wasn't planning a trip to WI today because we were headed out of town and I felt like I hadn't lost anything over the holiday anyway so I figured I wasn't getting the $10 credit...sooo on our way out of town DH said..."well we are going right by there so we'll just stop". So we stopped. I was down 2 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *let's pause for a moment of happy dance*

Now we went to an old fashioned amusement park today and had a blast...i took my food for lunch and took water to drink. We didn't eat in the park but on the way home we did stop for dinner and I gave in to fried chicken and regular soda. I'm back OP tomorrow and don't WI again until Monday so hopefully I will be okay. But I will tell body was NOT happy that I ate fried's almost like it doesn't like that stuff anymore.....hmmmmmmm what a concept! Well I'm off for now...but will check in tomorrow!

07-06-2007, 01:38 AM
Fantastic stuff Heather!! Way to go on the WI... You can be forgiven the diviation on the fried chicken, especially since your body rejected it as it did... I think most of us have had the same experience... Over the years, our systems got used to the crap we fed it and now that we're not doing that, and actually consuming healthy stuff, our bodies are saying NOOOOOOO!!!

Have a good night all!

07-06-2007, 02:05 AM
BarbaraB - My hubby too has mentioned many times about wanting a goat. The only thing that has hindered us is the beagle outside in the 1/2 acre pen because she has a feeder and from what we understand, the goat would eat until it got sick if the food was available. Hmmmm, I've had moments like too!

Carrie - I'll tell you what mine did "way back then", he filled all my teeth (literally) even though they didn't have cavities "to prevent tooth aches later". My parents fell for it and it was all done without anything to make it easier. Just sitting and listening to that drill for days... okay, that's my story. No wonder the thought of a dentist's drill gives me the creeps!

Jillian - I'm worn out just THINKING about all you did! Does that count for a work out for me too?!?

Karen - glad all went well. Incidently, everytime I look at your avatar, I picture you holding a bouquet at a wedding... I know it's a camera.... but still, why is that?!? You lovely dahhhling!

Wendy II - Hey girlfriend! You are looking awesome! Way to go on the 30 pounds! :woo:

Princess Heather - the amusement park sounds like so much fun! We purchased a "Virginia" pass at Busch Gardens for the second year and it is so much fun just to go and walk around! (We don't ride the rides anymore because of dh's head injury in a car accident 3 years ago)

Nicole - I agree... show yourself girlfriend!

Lea Ann - How are your parents? Is the water going down yet?

Debster - I saw all the MANY recipes you've posted in my absense and I just wanted to say thanks! I'm enjoying going through them and I'm getting some great meal ideas.

As for me, I had another customer come over and ask me how much weight I have lost since coming to work there. She said she really notices the difference. I got my drivers license out and showed her the photo which actually I was thinner in that when I started LAWL. She was truly amazed! And yes, it made my day!!!

Lastly, Found out my soon to be 14 yr old ds and my hubby won 2 place in the city wide Annual Youth/Adult Bowling tournament. I'm so proud of them! This was their first time bowling together in a tournament!

Okay, enough of that!

:chin: Thought for the new day (since I'm out here at 1am)

When it comes to LAWL, are you your worst enemy :frypan:
or greatest ally? :cheer:
 Just a thought...

Oh, not a good start. I just got to work, at 6:10 AM. I am supposed to be here at 5:00 AM. My alarm did not ring. I had 2 voicemails from my daycare mom, wondering where I was. She has to be to work at 6:00 in another town. I called her back on my way to work, but got her voicemail. I am guessing that she took the kids over to my assistant manager's house, since they are neighbors. Oh, how embarrassing!

Pearl- How cool about the compliments. That makes it all worth it to me!

07-06-2007, 09:42 AM
Lettie - Wow! So sorry for you loss the other day. But when you posted the update... wow. Maybe the move will be good for you. (Are you sure you're not living on an Indian burial ground??? LOL)

Jillian - WTG on the workouts. C'mon - you CAN get 5lbs off before vacation!!! I'm watching you and waiting for your updates.

Heather - The park sounds like a lot of fun. Very brave with 2 babies! And WTG on the 2lbs! Just learn your lesson from the chicken and move one.

Pearl - Cool compliment, and way cool on the DH and DS tournament. I'm so glad to have you back here.

Katie - Hope your day starts to turn around. At least it's Friday!

07-06-2007, 09:54 AM
Angie - I am a proposal coordinator for a healthcare software company that is based in Raleigh, NC. I basically answer a lot of questions about the functional, technical and future development of our company's healthcare IT products. I must admit I fell into this job as I really was not very qualified when I started, but I've learned quite a bit these past 5 years and like any jobs, this has its ups and downs, but overall I give it a 7 on a scale of 1-10!
Joni -- WTG on your wogging! I need to start doing that again. I used to walk religiously on my lunch, and my legs looked so great. I miss my sexy legs! CAn you remind me what kind of work you do? I'm so curious about anyone who works from home. I'd love to do that.

Lettie - I, too, held my breath as I read your post, and send my deepest sympathy to all of you. How sad for all of you. On a happier note, I love all the incentives your DH has laid out for you to get to goal, and I think he is a sweetie for driving all the way back to spend time with the family.

07-06-2007, 10:13 AM
Eeek! WI today and I KNOW I'm going to be up from that salty pork loin on the 4th! Good thing it was so delicious! I've never been up, so I'm bracing myself for "the look" from the counselor. Poot!!

07-06-2007, 10:13 AM
Lettie.. gotta love a man that promises a tummy tuck.. if I keep on track can he do the same for me???
I'd settle instead for a big old reunion somewhere that I could meet all the fabulous gals on this site.. and Dan would be the reporter for the story of course!

07-06-2007, 10:16 AM
Oh, I think we may have found a new home for our Weimaraner! A friend of DH's is interested. He's a young guy and he runs 6-10 miles every day. Roux would LOVE to be his running buddy! I hope things work out because we know that Lawson would be a great owner and would take good care of our baby! Keep your fingers crossed!!!

07-06-2007, 10:44 AM
Good Morning!!!! TGIF!!!!!

Pearl - WTG to your DH and DS on the bowling tournament....

Lettie - I'm so sorry to hear about yours and your family's loss. How traumatic!! Sounds like you've had a run of bad luck as far as your animals go. I'm sending you wishes for things to turn around for you.

Felicia - I hope things work out for a new owner for Lawson. He sounds like a great dog/friend/companion.

Well, I have WI today. We'll see if I completed sabotaged (sp) myself on the 4th. :(

07-06-2007, 11:02 AM
Morning all--just checked the lake levels and it didn't come up any in the night--that's good--it's a little less than 8 feet from the dam--wow. It's over the patio under the deck so the folks haven't had any damage except my dad will lose his gorgeous yard. We joke it's because he loves yardwork and was getting bored with perfection. Thanks to you all for the kind thoughts. Funny thing happened a couple nights ago--my dad and BIL were fishing on the deck and there was a ruckus underneath them--next thing they know my BIL has an ARMADILLO caught in his fishing line!! I would not have believed them if they hadn't sent photos--too funny.

I am so glad to hear everyone is doing so well--not to be debbie downer but I am still up--no idea why--have been good, drinking extra water, and exercising. Maybe it's just not my week--certainly not giving up but it's sure hard to stay committed when the scale goes the wrong way. I refuse to change my ticker--and yes, it needs to be changed in the wrong direction but I won't until next week. Okay--I've gone from *itching to crying this week--I'm done.

Katie--I had to laugh about the alarm clock--guess it happens to everyone but it still just screws up the day--it's FRIDAY!!!!!

DH has his bi-annual pilot's review tomorrow--send up a little prayer--I am such a worrier and him being in the air makes me crazy, but he loves it so much I stay quiet.

07-06-2007, 11:13 AM
Good morning all!

Lettie sorry to hear about your loss. How traumatic for your family!

Felicia and Carrie - good luck with WIs. I've got mine today also. I'm hoping to hear about the new plans everyone keeps talking about.

Katie - great way to start the day huh? Hope the remainder goes much more smoothly:)

Pearl - congrats on the compliments from your customers. It is always nice when others notice....makes you want to keep going!

Gotta run now and get back to work! Have a great Friday:flow1: I'll check back in after WI with the good (or bad) news.

07-06-2007, 11:17 AM
Lea Ann -- :hug::hug::hug:

07-06-2007, 11:22 AM
Cassi....we also took my best friend's seven year old daughter with us. She likes telling everyone she was our first "foster child". It's really just been in the last few months that she has started understanding that being a foster child is not a good thing....her reasoning was this "well being with you and Joe Joe is always a good thing for me I just thought foster care meant these kids needed more good things." well.....I guess you can't aruge with that logic! At one point last year she even told her 1st grade teacher we were her foster parents.......we've always been a second set of parents to her....and she just added the foster part! She's downstairs now "babysitting" so I could come get dressed and check in. She did remind me that babysitters get paid....wonder how much this is going to cost me!

This sinus thing is making me a bit crazy. I've taken all the meds I can take to break up the congestion and yet it's still there. I'm going to try some hot tea and see if that helps. I'll check back later when DH gets home from work, if I don't go now I may go broke paying the sitter! LOL
bye for now!

07-06-2007, 11:28 AM
OH PRINCESS HEATHER !!!!! I almost forgot ---

My happy dance with you !!! Congrats !!!

07-06-2007, 11:31 AM
So glad you're back Pearl.. thank you for the "thought for the day".. although you made me cry. I am being my own worst enemy, I'm feeling horrible that I can't move the scale anymore, and I'm completely depressed about it all. I just can't seem to keep it all together anymore.

07-06-2007, 11:46 AM
Wendy II and
Lea Ann
And all those struggling right now:

A special note: Even though you feel like
This too shall pass!!!!
And Wendy II, I'm sorry I made you cry! :sorry: I really was hoping to stir some thoughts (not tears!)
So, to all that are struggling, I offer you this!'t quit! Keep fighting! You ARE healthier! You ARE doing it! You will SUCCEED!!!!

Felicia - I saw this and thought of you! I know what peace of mind you will have to get your 4-paw baby a good home!

07-06-2007, 11:53 AM
Ha, Karen...I had to go back and look at your avatar when pearl said that she sees you holding a bouquet of flowers, but it's a camera...I thought it was flowers, too...oops!

07-06-2007, 12:00 PM
Okay, back from WI. I didn't lose, but I didn't gain either. I stayed exactly where I was. I can live with that! Lemon water again today should get rid of the rest of this sodium-induced water retention! I got the snotty counselor, so I was prepared for some comment. I just told her about the pork loin. She just smiled (I've never seen her smile before!) and said, "Oh, well, that will be gone before you know it!!"

Our COD doesn't know a thing about plans changing and hasn't heard anything about it. I hope we stay the way we are!

07-06-2007, 12:11 PM

Morning gang..

Happy Friday!! Down 4 lbs. on the scale since yesterday, so I figure the 6 lb. gain was mostly water and, um, "retention" issues of another kind...

I was really hungry this morning so I helped myself to a meatless breakfast burrito... Kills my starch intake for the day, but I have to admit it tasted really good.. It's now sitting like a brick at the bottom of my stomach, but it was worth it.. sorta...

Kind of a down day today, work load wise, which is a good thing... Let's just hope we don't get any fires pop up to ruin my weekend.. We're headed to Roswell to see the in-laws and deal with the extra traffic they have around town, as the city celebrates the 60th anniversary of the "Roswell UFO Incident".. Thousands of people from all over the world have converged on Roswell.. It's a actually quite a big deal, and a good economic boost for the city...

I think we'll avoid all the alien nonsense and go to the lake...

Anyway... Have a POP day all!!

Thanks everyone, It is amazing how good all these cyber hugs can make you feel. none of us have ever met in person and yet I feel like you all are some of my closest friends.

we went to the drive in last night and watched ratatouee and Pirates of the Caribean 3, fell off the wagon, had chips and pop to stay awake.

so back at it today. I have to go weigh in today. our COD is doing one of those summer promotions where if you go in 3 times a week every week for the summer and get your card signed then you earn 4 free weeks and 25% off any product. I am determined to get those free weeks this year! even if it means I have to go two days in a row. so weigh in will be up from yesterday because of slip ups last night. but I am only looking at yesterdays weigh in to compare with what will be mondays............OK RAMBLING.....
better get to work here. need to clean the house and deliver flowers. I gave them 4 weeks notice to hire a new delivery person. I am going on faith that we are getting that Wisconsin job. and even if we don't quitting in 4 weeks will give me 2 weeks after that with the kids before they go back to school and we need to sell our house either way. if we move to WI we will need to sell quick and even if we don't we can't afford this place anymore and will need it to sell quick so I need to focus on that. I was a real weight off the shoulders tellng them and I am counting the days til I get my schedual back in my hands!

Luv ya all! thanks for the hugs....

Lettie.. gotta love a man that promises a tummy tuck.. if I keep on track can he do the same for me???
I'd settle instead for a big old reunion somewhere that I could meet all the fabulous gals on this site.. and Dan would be the reporter for the story of course!

Me too! I was thinking the other day it would be nice to have some gatherings. just set a time and place and say if you live close to this ..... coffee shop, park whatever...... meet there and see how many of us could get together! we are so spread out. I don't think that many of us ever could.. Nicole might be the closest to me but she is still,,,,, what was it nicole? Nicole...... NICOLE.....NICOLE!!!!! alright....... where is nicole........... anyway. I think we are about 6 hours apart.

07-06-2007, 01:26 PM
That would be totally kewl a 3FC LAWL Meet...ALTHOUGH it wld be a long haul from the Maritimes in Canada, eh (that was for you dan)lol

07-06-2007, 01:40 PM
Okay, I have a housecleaning question and I'm going to trust you all not to be too judgemental! We have a stainless steel cooktop and it has a lot of cooked-on gunk around the burners. (I've already readily admitted more than more once that I am the WORST housekeeper on the planet!) What's the best way to clean off this stuff? It's really cooked on there pretty good. I was hoping that I could just take the whole thing off, take it outside, and pressure-wash it, but taking it off is a more major undertaking than I'm prepared for. Can any of you clean-house goddesses give me some advice?

07-06-2007, 01:41 PM
Morning gang!

Lettie- I think putting your notice in is just thinking positive about DH landing that job! Definitely sending you positive thoughts!

Kristen-I want to be on that diet! It's no longer red, blue, gold--I'm on Chocolate Brown! haha

Felicia-yay for no gains!! I felt like I didn't too that great on the 4th, I ended up being down a pound but still felt bad about the 5 doritos and 1/4 brownie...BUT like my favorite counselor told me, just think of how much you would have eaten LAST 4th of July---I know it would have been at least double. Just being aware has changed everything for me!
Oh and way to be the teacher everyone hates! Doesn't it feel good to be organized?
Princess Heather-hope your sitter hasn't busted the bank! How cute.
Dan- glad to see you are down!!!

Wouldn't it be fun to all go on a LAWL 3fc cruise?? I would love to meet you all! You are so inspirational. Maybe it's not the best idea since I know how well cruises work on our waistlines!

07-06-2007, 01:45 PM
Felicia-I use SOS pads and soft scrub for that kind of thing. I don't have stainless steel but it seems to work on anything!

Someone on here (Lettie?) recommended Fly've been keeping up with it this summer and love it! I feel so organized. Not sure if you all have heard of it, but it's kinda fun!

07-06-2007, 01:53 PM
Felicia - for stainless steel to get the cooked on gunk off you're going to need some old fashioned elbow grease! Let some window cleaner soak on it to soften it up then gently scrub back and forth with a scotchbrite sponge (the rough side) to work it off of there. When it's all cleaned, polish it with a small amount of olive oil to keep anything from sticking to it again.

No judging here.. Just went through a massive cleanup of my own burners!

07-06-2007, 01:56 PM
Just got back from WI and I was down 2.6 - YEAH! :woohoo:

Don't get my new plan until next week though. According to the center's manager they are rolling it out by districts. Her district mngr was there today. She said they had seen it and really like it.

:?:Hey, those of you that go to centers, do you have to make an appt? When I first started they sold the fact that you could come by anytime and now they are requiring appts. I see why they would but with my work schedule it is just sometimes hard to know what I'll be doing this time next week:)

Hope everyone else is having a great day too. We are swamped at work so I gotta run but will try to check posts later.

07-06-2007, 02:21 PM
Thanks, Liza and Amy! I'll have to make a grocery store run in a bit!

07-06-2007, 02:30 PM
My fiance and I got up suuuuper early this morning to go for breakfast before WI (we usually go to WI before I eat, but unfortunately, he had a bus to catch after breakfast, so I had to go in to the COD well-fed :p ). I was up more than 3 lbs from last week, and the counselor was shocked, trying to ask me what I was going to do differently to get the weight off. I tried to convince her that it was the weight of a giant whole wheat strawberry crepe and 3 big glasses of water, but she wouldn't listen to me. Crazy woman.

Also, I've been a little... backed up... lately. I kindly omitted that, however. Sure enough, a short time after I got home and went to the bathroom, I weighed myself and was down almost the full 3 lbs. In fact, if I were to go for WI now, 6 hours later, I would weigh LESS than I did last week. Slightly frustrating, but I imagine it will make me look quite impressive at my pre-breakfast WI next Friday!

It probably didn't help my case that I told her flat-out that I haven't been following the plan at all. I've basically been eating whatever the heck I want (in moderation, of course!), but keeping my portions small and substituting for healthier options whenever I can. And, ignoring today's freak WI, it's been working splendidly for me. The fact is, with a 60 hour work week and 15 hours of exercise, I need more food. And I made that very clear to her.

She told me that she definitely agreed that, even had I been moved up to red, I probably wouldn't have been getting enough food in maintenance for my stupid schedule, and that after we see where I am next week (in other words, once I prove to her that this week's "gain" wasn't really a gain!), then she'll call the dietician and see what they have to say. She's certain they'll up my plan to something crazy, and that way I'll know exactly what exchanges I should be getting. I don't know if I'll follow it, because I'm pretty sure the "Sarah plan" is working out just fine, but I'll have to wait and see I guess :p

Oh, and I can't help but have a little brag moment... this morning, Dave and I did our weekly breakfast at Cora's, our FAVOURITE breakfast restaurant. I've been wanting to get pancakes there for weeks, but I keep putting it off. I was determined to get them today, but after evaluating my plans for the weekend (going for pizza and pasta tomorrow night, and a BBQ Monday night), I figured it would be best to stick to my usual, healthy strawberry crepe with no custard or whipped cream or anything fun like that. I also passed on the sucre a la creme they have near the cash register (French-Canadian candy made with maple syrup. Also known as "sugar fudge" or "cream fudge," VERY high in sugar and fat, but delicious!). So I'm pretty darn proud of myself :D

07-06-2007, 02:31 PM
Hey everybody. I haven't read the latest posts since I last visited so I will catch up on personals later this evening. Have a POP day. (I am having POP week and read what happened below...) BOO HOO X 10!!!I am pasting what I put over in the "Feel Full" thread...

"This was the plan I mentioned in the friends thread...this plan not only has me full, but I have gained 5 FREAKIN POUNDS since last Friday. I don't know if it's the plan its self or the plan + me exercising an hour a day/6 days a week. I couldn't fit all the foods in the 1st day nor the 2nd, and started stuffing my face the 3rd and so on. I am up 5 lbs!!!! I am devistated. They put a call in to the dietician on yesterday while I was there and was told to eat on plan for two weeks total and keep exercising. I am at a loss for words. I'm on Plan 4, which replaced the regular Red Plan. I had 10 more pound to go until Purple/ #3 and now...I really just want to cry."

07-06-2007, 03:24 PM
Mizzt - where are you in the maritimes? I am in NB and Danette (who is MIA right now) is in NS.

I saw Chancey last night and she is doing ok. She has two significant wounds on her. They are both about 1/3" long but don't appear to have gone below the subcutaneous layer. The other dog got her on the left hind leg and the left side of her belly. She is sore but ok I guess. We have to keep her on the meds for a week and she has to take it easy and watch them to make sure they keep draining clear. I'll see her again on sunday.

I am just on my break at work and just wanted to do a quick touch in. I'll be back later!

07-06-2007, 03:24 PM
Hi all, sorry I haven’t been keeping up on this thread.
Lettie, I’m sorry to hear about your goat. My mil used to have a pet goat named Rueben. Lol! Rueben liked to head butt doors on cars. He was not allowed to run loose. We raise sheep but generally they are not as much like pets as the goat was, other than the bottle lamb.

Everyone, I hope you successfully navigated the holiday. I had 5 chips and they were SO salty! Oh, but I lost 3 lbs so I get my $10 credit:) Thanks for giving me the tips to get through the holiday.

Enjoy your weekend.

07-06-2007, 03:43 PM
yep that was me flylady...... oh yea!

just back from COD and I was up exactly 2 pounds from yesterday morning..... well go figure it has only been 24 hours did they expect a loss. plus between the chips I ate last night at the drive in, getting only 4 1/2 hours of sleep and then wearing jeans to the weigh in..... 'cause..... I just didn't care. 2 pounds seemed about right.

no time to be on here. but had to stop and say hey...... oh and I asked about the new plan at our COD, we get it on Aug. 1!!

have a great weekend if I don't see ya before!

07-06-2007, 04:15 PM
Well, back from WI and not good news....I was up .8 .....I'm starting to wonder if this is going to work for me.... or if I'm on the right plan. I keep bouncing around...up 1.8, down .8, up 2 down 1 etc.....It's so FRUSTRATING! COD said they are kicking off the new program Monday and everything is going to be 25% off. I think I will invest in some supplements. Does anyone here use the supplements? If so, do you see a difference if you don't use them?

Kristen - I want to sign up for the Chocolate Brown plan too, as long as I can do it and lose weight....ha ... ha

Felicia - congrats on not gaining

Dan - congrats n the scale being down 4lbs.....enjoy your visit to Roswell.

Katy66- Congrats on the loss...WTG

Sarah- WTG on passing up the pancakes and fudge - great will Power!!!!

Letisha - I'm sorry about the gain - hopefully its just an adjustment thing and the COD will get it figured out and get you back on track.

Alannah - I'm glad Chancey is getting better.

Holly- WTG on the 3Lb loss and $10 credit.

I bought a scale on my way back from WI so I can try to keep track at home. It measures weight and Hydration....I'm not sure about the hydration part, I'll have to read up on it.

If I dont' get back ....everyone have a great weekend.

07-06-2007, 04:25 PM
Thanks, Liza and Amy! I'll have to make a grocery store run in a bit!

If it's not too late for your store run, I would recommend Pledge "multi surface".. You use it just like Liza said, but the stuff is made to use on stainless steel and does a really nice job in shining it up!!

07-06-2007, 04:39 PM
Okay I'm off for some exercising but had to share the link below with you. I've never been a big meat eater and for those finding it hard to get in all your dairy, fruits or proteins in a day, I make a smoothie for breakfast almost every day. Below is a link to a great site that you can use for some ideas. Some will show them made with ice cream :o but you can substitute that with soy, skim or yogurt. If you need to use up protein you can count your soy milk as a vegetarian protein or use it for a dairy along with yogurt. It's a good way to get your fruits in one serving or to use most of them up if you find it hard to munch all day. When I had some stall moments they suggested getting my fruits and starches all done by lunch.
Hope this gives some of you some new flavors.. on holidays of course you could spike these and have a liquid fruit or starch.. right Cassi??

07-06-2007, 04:47 PM
Mmmmmm.... liquid starches.....

07-06-2007, 04:47 PM
Carrie - hang in there. Sometimes our bodies play mean games on us. If you're exercising more than you used to, it could be that you are building new muscle. Maybe next time take measurements along with the WI and see if there is a difference. I take the supplements and I do like them. In addition to the daily vitamins we need like fish oil for the heart, calcium and others, the day time supplements give me a very needed energy and seem to help with water retention. The night time ones have St. John's Wort that helps to relax but doesn't make you sleepy and also I seem to get rid of more water when I get up. All in all since I started the plan and the supplements I actually do have more energy, even through days when I'm exhausted because of my schedule. On regular days, I don't want to just collapse in front of the couch at the end of the day and stare until bedtime which is how it had gotten to be in the last year. I got a scale with the same stuff two weeks ago. I still haven't figured out anything but the weight but at least that seems pretty on target with the scale at COD.

Lettie - I am so so so sorry for what happened to your goat. I hope your kiddos and DH are recovering OK from what they saw.

Alannah - I'm sorry to hear about Chancey but glad she made it through and is recovering. Buster got my friend in the face the other night when she stuck it into the car where he was sitting and caught him by surprise. He knew RIGHT AWAY he'd done something wrong and jumped into the front seat onto my lap. I had to pry him off enough to drive home. It wasn't a bite, but his bottom tooth snagged her cheek when he head butted her. Her little dachsunds have drawn blood on me several times. We're even now.

Dan have fun at Roswell! You have to do at least a little of the tourist thing while you're there! I'll keep my fingers crossed for no horrible fires while you're there!

The TV station just asked if they could schedule me to fly and report for the evening newscasts this weekend on both days rather than the "on call" situation. I'm so happy because I get to fly! For the past two months every time I got to the chopper there was some mechanical or weather problem that had us grounded. Keep your fingers crossed that we finally get up this weekend!

07-06-2007, 05:36 PM
Karen - glad all went well. Incidently, everytime I look at your avatar, I picture you holding a bouquet at a wedding... I know it's a camera.... but still, why is that?!? You lovely dahhhling!QUOTEThanks for the compliment Pearl .... actually I am holding flowers as well as the camera..... so you and Tina were right. I was holding one of the bridesmaids bouquets, but had to hold it upside down because I was trying to take photos as well. There is a larger version of the photo on my profile page.

Okay, I have to go and finish reading all the posts and see what everyone is upto today.

07-06-2007, 06:06 PM
Felicia, I found that the dawn power desolver or maybe the oxy power desolver... can make the scrubbing less. You just spray it on and wait about 5 minutes and it really makes it less work. You still have to scrub, but it loosens it up. then the multisurface stuff when you get the crust off to make it shiney and nice.

Letisha, When I start exercising, I tend to gain a few pounds (which seems just WRONG, but it happens). I read somewhere that it is not muscle, just a temporary water gain. I think my muscles just kind of get traumatized and swell up temporarily. 5 pounds of fat would be 17,500 calories. You didn't eat that much extra! So don't get discouraged! Maybe allow yourself a "recovery day" with the workouts. Still do it, only go easy. I read somewhere that you make the most progress with your workouts if you have maybe 1 or 2 high intensity workouts a week and one or two low intensity and the balance medium. So don't be pushing yourself hard every time. So if you do it 5 times a week, one high, one low and 3 medium intensity.

Carrie, I used the supplements during weight loss. I'm off them now, well except I still take the calcium and EFA, well some days. Actually they have different supplements now than when I first started, but I did find them helpful. I bought some on e-bay for way less money than they charge at the center.

Jillian, I did in fact go and buy the biggest loser DVD last night and also a stability ball. I think my tush is tighter already. That woman is brutal in what I think was the woman's aerobics section. I felt the burn. I met my DH at lunch to go to the gym and do a spinning class, and oh my, I'd never been to the one at noon and that guy is intense. I may need a soak in the hot tub tonight.

Hope you are all having a great Friday! and that we all have a very POP weekend.

07-06-2007, 06:35 PM
Pearl – don’t you love unsolicited compliments? Congrats! You deserve it. Also congrats to your ds and dh.

Katie – hope your day is looking up!

Felicia – I think over one month with no gain is awesome. Congrats on holding steady through the holiday.

Carrie– how was WI?

Boo’s mom - good luck with the rising water. I’m sending positive thoughts your way.

Heather – hope you’re feeling better.

Wendy II – You’re going to be fine. Hang in there. Pearl will help you through this. I will try, but she will do you some good!

Dan, Amy, Katy, – Congrats on the loss and have fun this weekend!

Katy – I do not have to have an appt at the cod.

Lettie – good for you staying with your wi at cod. Get those weeks.

Sarah – I’m sure your loss will show at cod next week. The counselors do not know everything! I show I am down 3.2 lbs since Tuesday afternoon at the cod, but really I weighed late in the day Tuesday and early in the day today.

Letisha – I am so sorry. I hope they are able to help you out with your plan. That just stinks.

Lettie, Carrie – sorry about the gain. I hope it is down next time.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend. This will be a real test for me. We’re going out to dinner/go carts/play on the strip tonight and then out on the boat all day tomorrow. I plan to buy Bacardi Island Breeze with diet sprite or diet coke for my 2 drinks tomorrow and count as starches. Probably have my old standby out to eat dinner of lettuce salad with grilled chicken and lite or ff dressing on the side and diet coke to drink. I am growing accustomed to salad, but I do not look forward to it yet. Maybe we can get into Outback. At least it is in my book.

07-06-2007, 06:59 PM
Hey all,

Sorry I haven't been around, but you know how it goes. I haven't lost anymore weight. I flutuate between 170 and 173. I have no one else to blame but me. I haven't been a good girl. I have been having at least one snack everyday. I need to get back on track. I guess because it hasn't seemed to really hurt me, I have just kept doing it. Anyway, I do need to get back on track.

Time to go home, talk at you all later.

Holly- LOL about Reuben head butting cars, that is too funny. I used to do advocate work for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Once I was at a client's home taking her statement when she suddenly shouted "Pop Tart!" I was totally confused, then I heard some little feet clicking across the floor, and this tiny little black potbellied pig came racing across the room and sailed into her lap. Her name happened to be Pop Tart. She was so cute, much smaller than any ones I have ever seen. She must have been a tea cup pig, lol.

Felicia- Hmmm, actually, I thought I held the title as world's worst housekeeper. Maybe we can share?

07-06-2007, 07:40 PM
Katie - we can share the title! But I'm going to reform when we move into the new house. For one thing, we're getting rid of SO much stuff before the move! We just have TOO much junk!

We're going to have a HUGE garage sale and everything that doesn't sell is headed straight the Goodwill! There's a teacher's aide at school who told me when I ran into her that she wants all the clothes I shrink out of, so she's getting a lot of winter clothes that I expect to be too small for when the cold weather comes!

07-06-2007, 08:24 PM
hey everyone. so remember that i said that i was up 2lbs yesterday? well, yesterday i was at 217 and today i'm at 213! yay!!! :) i totally blew them away at the COD. way excited about that!

ok, enough gloating, i've got to catch up on todays posts. be back later!

07-06-2007, 09:09 PM
Jillian--never enough gloating--you deserve to!! Congrats!

07-06-2007, 10:05 PM
Woo Hoo, Jillian! That's awesome!!

07-06-2007, 10:23 PM
Evening all!

Just got home from the gym and about to put some Chicken on the BBQ. I found some Mrs. Dash salt free marinade so I hope it's good!

Jillian- your two-a-day workouts have really paid off! you are SO close to goal! GLOAT away, that's what we're here for.

Sarah, Lettie-the gain is just a mirage...

Sarah-your breakfast place sounds wonderful!

Letisha- BOO! I am so scared they are going to switch us at our COD. I haven't asked but I would be devastated too to gain that much. I wonder what has prompted the changes?? Seems like the old one works. Kinda weird. I hope it evens out for you!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! My dbf is taking me on a surprise bday trip so I wont be around!! Have a good one!

07-06-2007, 10:37 PM
Hey everyone....I just got back from a family is DS 19th the tradition is that whom ever has a birthday gets to choose where to eat. DS chose Texas Roadhouse....and I thought I was being good and ordered the grilled salmon, salad with vinagrette and green beans. Well, the salad was good but the salmon was really salty. I can just feel myself swelling as I type. I should of just stayed with the salad and grilled chicken. Then after dinner, DS's girlfriend (he has had the same girlfriend since the 5th grade) says her mother has a surprise for DS at her house. We all go to DS's girlfriends house where DS's girlfriend's mother has made a huge banana pudding for him (his favorite). Strange thing was I really didn't want any but I was afraid of hurting feelings if I didn't have at least a little, So I had about a Tablespoon of pudding and then put it aside. Then to make things worse, she sent the rest home with us because she didn't want it in the house. I know she is doing this for my DS, but it is killing me. I have called my sister (she lives next door) and told her and her DH to come eat this pudding so I can get it out of my house because tomorrow I might be weak and eat it. It is really good and too tempting to keep around. Tomorrow is another day....and I will stay POP tomorrow!!! I also will be drinking lemon water!

07-06-2007, 11:19 PM
YummO! I just found my new favorite evening treat! I just made a Faux Bananas Foster and it was SOOOO good!

I sprayed ICBINB into a skillet and sprinkled in about 1/4 cup of Splenda and about a teaspoon of cinnamon (I never measure spices when I'm cooking, but I'm pretty good at eyeballing it). I stirred it over medium heat and sprayed the mixture with a little bit of Pam when it got sticky. I added a 1/2 cup milk and a splash of rum extract and stirred it in and let it bubble and get thick. Then I sliced a banana into it and stirred the whole thing until the bananas were heated through. I poured it all over FFSF vanilla yogurt. OMGoodness! It was unbelievable!! (1 1/2D, 2Fr) I know there's some condiment counts in there, too.

07-06-2007, 11:29 PM

Feel free to send me the rest of the banana pudding!!
Always happy to help!

07-07-2007, 12:30 AM
Good evening all!
Had a good day, well until tonight...

Was hugging my ODS goodbye for the week because he is house sitting for some of our friends from church and taking care of pets for 4 familys while all are away on vacation. Went in for the hug, he moved his foot with his $120 tennis shoe on it and literally tore off 1/2 of my big toe nail!!! Now, first of all - I've been trying desperately to keep a pedicure going with painted nails for over a month... they actually looked great... a dark Candy Apple Red...
Second, he's laughing his head off at the way it happened, and I'm in pain and bleeding all over the place!
So much for the pedicure!
I'm gonna miss ODS, but did he have to leave such a profound remembrance for the week?!? :lol3:
Lastly, now I've got to figure out how to wear shoes to stand in for 7 hours tomorrow... supposedly our dress code says no sandles but I can tell you, this little piggy will be "outed" tomorrow!
Oh well, let me limp off to bed - I have to get up earlier than usual tomorrow...

Repo girl
07-07-2007, 12:49 AM
OMG Pearl, that must have really hurt! Hope you can find something to work in that is not painful!

07-07-2007, 09:08 AM
Good Morning!

Pearl - that sounds painfully and just like a DS to laugh:)

Way to go Jillian on your loss, that is awesome.

Felicia - get rid of those big clothes so you don't have anything to "grow" back into. My friend here that is doing LAWL with me is keeping hers just in case. My theory is that if you don't have those bigger pants you'll be more motivated to stay in the smaller ones....maybe a bad theory but it is nice to buy new stuff.

07-07-2007, 09:37 AM
Katy - I totally agree!

Pearl - OMGoodness! That just makes me cringe! Zouch!

Amy - have a great bday weekend away!

Carrie - banana pudding is one of my favorites. I would have a really hard time having that in my house!!

07-07-2007, 09:57 AM
Good morning all!

I went to WI this morning and I was down .8 since Thursday, so now I'm back to my weight at the end of the week before last, finally!

DH is working today, so DS and I are going to go have a picnic at a local lake and do some swimming and castle building, and all of that. I'll pack a LAWL friendly lunch for us so that we won't be tempted by the little snack bar they have there.

Pearl -- Ouch! Sorry about your toe.

Lettie -- I'm so sorry about your goat.

Morning all - I'm sort of struggling being POP the last few days. I'm better than most weekends, but struggling. Had to come check out the site to keep me on track. Reading posts here always helps me get through tough days.

I passed on going to the gym today and spent three hours doing some outside digging, planting and gardening work. I was covered in Georgia red clay, dirt, and sweat and, of course, one of my neighbors decides this is a nice time for him to come and say hi....he's lived there almost two years and has never stopped to chat....why did he pick today??... is he just attracted to sweaty, dirty women? lol.....when I'm gardening, though, I'm in my own little world so I really didn't think about it until later on. Guess I'm no threat to his dear wife!

Good job Jillian on the weight loss and all that exercise..

Angie - WTG on your weigh in this morning. Geez, I wish someone would build me a can be a small castle!

Pearl - why did you have to make your painful toe post so darn funny and cute with all those smileys...I was laughing too and I know it really has to hurt. Sorry.

Happy Birthday AmyLou!

Carrie - mmmmmmm...homemade banana pudding....hope it found a new home!

Felicia - recipes sound yummy.....I need to experiment a bit more. Happy packing and declutterizing!

Kristen - I see you've added an exercise ticker...I'm going to do that again too...exercise is key!! So, did you ever look under the bed box spring for DH's ring....I really would like you to find it. I keep thinking about it. But maybe Pearl has a point to....

Alannah - thanks for the Chancey update. Sounds like you're all keeping a good eye on her. She'll be fine, I'm sure. What did the other dog's owner say or do?

Dan - okay, now I'm jealous of actually have household cleaning hints to share!! Please come to Georgia and train my DH!! I swear, I'll pay you.

Hey Lizzy and anyone else struggling or in limbo or whatever...- you need to go read Pearl's post in another thread...oh, what the it is:

Pearl's words of wisdom: LAWL is a lifestyle. It teaches us how to make good choices, how much to eat, and if you stick with it, it will change your life. I personally believe everyone marches to the beat of a different drummer, so if you haven't met goal, so what?!? This will only work if YOU WORK IT!!!
It's Independence Day here in the states girlfriend!!! A great day to decide you're going to be independent of those bad choices and learn to eat healthy. Go back to what made you choose LAWL in the first place... was it the way you looked? Was it the way you felt? Was it high blood pressure? Was it shortness of breath walking across the street? Was it an upcoming event you wanted to look your best for? Was it the fact that what you were putting in your mouth could literally be shortening your life? Did you want to do it for your significant other, a son or a daughter, or did you want to do it for YOU!?!?
Go take a long look in the mirror and figure out what you see? Do you see a person that is as healthy as possible or do you see a person that is leaning to temptations that are not healthy? Do you see a person IN CONTROL or do you see a person that is being controlled by cravings, emotions, and circumstances?
Now take a look deep into those eyes and see what is REALLY there! A person that wants to change. A person that deserves to change because you deserve to be the healthiest you can be. You deserve to lose the weight that you want to lose and begin doing some new things you've always wanted to do. Your loved ones deserve every single day you can give them and that means healthy choices and a major lifestyle change.
Now set a goal this very moment. What are you going to do today to get you one step closer?!? I say today you make the decision to change!!! Today you decide you DO deserve to live a healthy life. You DO deserve to make healthy choices and when you make those other choices - you're doing what your body does NOT deserve!!!
Tomorrow? You take the next step. Get rid of the "stuff" you KNOW you do not need in the house. You know - that special thing you reach for when you're upset, or tired, or bored, or feeling a little too lazy to fix something healthy. Next, you plan your menus according the the plan you're on, you start preparing the foods you deserve and you will feel the difference immediately!!!!! Yes, I said immediately! Because you will feel the power you have OVER those things you got rid of! You'll feel empowered every time you reach for the RIGHT thing! You'll know YOU are in control because your meals are planned! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
You need stories?!? Take a look here at Debster, Dan, Cassi, check out the archives on Julie Marie and Evette..

morning everyone ... just a quick check in here. I am playing in a golf tournament this afternoon, and still have some things to do beforehand.

Pearl ..... ouch ... hope you feel better soon! :(

Jillian, way to go on the loss! ;)

Carrie .... I'll take some pudding as well. Sounds yummy.:)

Hope everyone has a great day!

I have a busy day ahead of me. Between the golf tournament this afternoon, and this weekend is what they call street wheelers - all the people with there restored old cars and stuff go out cruising all weekend - dh is a real car buff, and is in process of fixing up an old Chevelle - anyway, we go out and watch and cruise around ourselves in the convertible camaro that we have. (not good for the hair) but anyway ... its fun.

Gotta go..... might check in later if I have a chance.

Hi All,

Staying POP may be a bit of a challenge today. I started off at KPBS with my cottage cheese, yogurt, apple and lite to get me from 6AM to 1PM. I'm trying to fix a quick and OP lunch before I head out to cover the fires. I can't eat in the chopper and may be up there until 7PM. TOM is being a real jerk too. Wish me luck...

Pearl.. owie ow ow ow!

HELP!! Having problems again with 'puter... I can connect ONLY if I have a telephone off the hook and listen to the "blhhhhhhhhh" the whole time. As soon as I turn off the telephone, I lose my connect on the modem... Any gurus out there that can explain? And hopefully I'll be able to come back out later today and get the answer?!?

As for the toe story - why not make it funny... it only hurts when I DON'T laugh! ;)

Joni - you gotta stop all that "quoting" stuff... Good Lord I "talk" a lot!
Okay - making this one short to make up for the book Joni quoted!

Morning all. Today is my first day on the new plan. I have been so naughty all week long. Today is a new day, right? RIGHT! Oh, I bought a swimming pool. Dh is not as thrilled as I wanted, but he will warm up to the idea, right? It is 40 feet long, but 12 feet wide, 4 feet deep. A lap pool! I bought it on Ebay, now we are trying to decide where to put it. DH pointed out that it will kill a lot of grass, and take a really long time to fill. Like days. Hmmm, I did not think of this stuff when I was buying this monster. I was thinking how much fun my kids will have in this thing, and that the party will officially be at my house from now on!
