yeah but don't broil set the oven to about 425...

put them in a pan (rinse them from the can) with

a bit of EVOO
spices (i like garlic, onion, salt pepper and paprika)
cook about 30 minutes
stir them
return to oven about 10 minutes
check them I shake the pan if they rattle they are done
if not put them back in the oven and check every 5-10 minutes till they rattle in the pan
then turn off the oven, put them back in and let them sit till cool.

Well, hmm, they are a vegetable high in protein...unlike other plant food/ vegetables that are carbohydrate based. If you look at the us gov. food pyramid, you'll see beans and meat together -rather than beans as part of the veggie group. This is because meats and beans represent the richest sources of Protein.
Personally, I consider Beans as separate from Vegetables. .

hope this helps

I tried these today...I am still not sure if I like them!

I did it at 425 for 40 minutes, stiring every 10 minutes...they came out really crunchy, almost like a peanut. Maybe they will grow on me!

I think I'd like them if I could get them crunchy. Maybe I'll try it tonight, I know I have a can of them at home.

i consider beans a limited veggie... OR a protein depending on what i'm doing with them,.

that being said roasted chickpeas saved me many many days in phase 1 and early phase 2.

I consider them a protein. Beans make up a good portion of my protein since I don't eat meat.

I also count them as a protein. I love these things!

My Mom makes a version with sugarfree maple syrup and cayenne pepper for seasoning--so good.

Thanks for the idea. I just made these using olive oil, cayenne pepper, lemon pepper with garlic and onion and sea salt. The good news...delish. The bad news....I ate the whole can. I did them in the toaster oven since it is too hot to fire up the big one. Worked out well.

I've only made them once, but they were YUMMY! I minced some garlic, onions, and chives for a sort of marinade and roasted them with it on. That made them almost greasy though.. and I hate sticky fingers! I think I'm making more tomorrow.

I definitely prefer roasting them from a can to dry beans. I used half and half, and even though I soaked the beans overnight and then some, they were still a bit too crispy for my liking. I prefer them a bit soft.
