I'm not a WLS patient, but I was just told by my mother that a family friend had lapband surgery today. The friend is doing well. She lives here in town; my mom now lives about 1500 miles away. I would like to go by and take our friend a care package of sorts. Can anyone suggest things to take to her? Sugarfree jello? Um...I don't know...broth? Help me out, please!

How nice of you Sidhe,

Let me see...... maybe a crossword puzzle book, SF ice pops w/no fruit pieces in it, broth, apple juice, cranberry juice (she can dilute it herself), maybe something personal like nail polish, she can sit and do her nails...do you know if she has any hobbies? Its hard to say what she'll need because each doctor is different with what you can eat after surgery, some are clear liquids for 2 weeks and some you can eat mushy food after 3 days.

Flowers are always nice ;)

Your a good person

I would at least take her a couple of cans of beef and chicken broth. If she doesn't need it, she can cook with it. The popsicles (SF) are wonderful, flowers are nice, but sometimes just your visit means the most. Oh, Hunts has a SF jello that is really delicious (snack pack).
