Default The 1966 American Homemakers Diet...

I was reading through my favorite cookbook the other night (I'm weird, I actually like just reading cookbooks ) and came across a little tidbit on weightloss. As you can see, the book is pretty old and it gave me a good chuckle seeing how long we've known the truth it espouses but we continue to search for a miracle pill. Here's a few tidbits.

...Doctors and nutritionists are agreed that one should not try to lose more than two pounds a week, ...Any diet that promises to take off weight more quickly than this is to be regarded with suspicion.

...For many people, light between-meal snacks make the diet much easier to take.

...There is no magic formula for losing weight quickly, nor any reducing diet that will work with equal success for everyone. Primarily the important thing is to eat less thatn you have been eating.

Then it goes on to list recommended foods like lean proteins, veggies, fruits and caution foods like fats, sweets and alcohol.

Can't remember the author, but brings to mind the book Everything I need To Know, I Learned in Kindergarten!!! Sometimes you've really got to wonder just how useful all these "new discoveries" and "high-tech" solutions really are, hmmm?

The author is Robert Fulghum...one of my favorites. Such simple wisdom comes from that man.
