Hope everyone is feeling great this morning (especially Andrew) I got up later than usual this morning, not feeling 100%, but thought I'd better log on and get things moving. I've not been around much this week and I have not posted the reason why. Basically I have just started a training course and I have booked up about 4 weeks worth of study. So after spending every day concentrating at the PC screen you can understand I may not be that eager to start all over again when I get home. So I am still around for the next 3 weeks or so, but may not be as active. Wish me luck as I have my first exam tomorrow and I need to recap my learning today.
Have a great week all! :D
A friend told me about a "click" for charity site and not sure if it will work for you guys, but hope you don't mind me posting it anyway http://www.givewater.org/

Finally, I had a good night's sleep!! No waking up every couple hours in coughing fits!! :)
This is my plan...I had kind of put WW aside, and decided to concentrate on exercise for awhile. Well, I haven't exercised in just about 2 wks. because of being sick, and I haven't been following WW either. It's time to get back on track. I've decided I need to be more attentive to what I'm eating though, not just the number of points, but what I'm spending them on. I saw a show on Food TV about smoothies not that long ago, and I think I'm gonna check out their website and see if I can get some recipes. They used silken tofu in them, so they had protein and were a complete meal. I also need to watch my cholesterol carefully. I have not gotten the results of my bloodwork from last week back, but 2 yrs. ago, it was 318!! That was not a fasting total, it was on a full stomach, not planned, but I think it'll probably still be up there. I had not realized this before, but even though those Lean Cuisine's are low in points, they have a lot of Sodium and Carbs in them. I will still eat them, but I'm gonna try and make some meals too. Somewhere I think I read that you're supposed to limit carbs to 30 gms. a day? I could be off.
Anyway, it's gonna take a little time to get this plan rolling, but I'll try making little changes at first, til I get it all figured out.
Have a great day all!

We're just returned from Mass. It was a rather unsatisfying experience (at least as much related to my attitude as the service, I expect) which leads us to try another Catholic church in our area. We've lived here almost two years and still haven't found the right church home for us. I love the Brothers who oversee services at the small church we attend now -- but I really hate the music. Music is such an integral part of Mass that I find it distracting and often leave feeling less than peaceful. So next week we'll be attending a different, larger church in a neighboring town.
I'm off now to exercise with my teen. My younger daughter is staying home to play violent video games on the computer with my husband. Sigh. ;)
12-02-2001, 06:36 PM
SB- I can relate to how you feel on the church subject. DH, who is Catholic, found a church less than a mile and a half from our apartment right away, and he likes it there. I am Christian (protestant) and have not found a church that I am happy at yet. The church I grew up going to is about 40 miles away now, and I just can't make that trip every week. I'm hoping that when we move, it's somewhere a little closer to there, so that we'll be able to go to that church again. Even if we could get 10-15 miles closer, I'd be happy.
RR- Glad #2 had a good experience w/Santa! :D How is #1 doing these days? Has she warmed up to the baby yet?
BFB- Hope the class goes good...what will you be studying?
Gotta run, my acorn squash is done!

Hi everyone! A few days and I can really get behind! How is everyone? I haven't read yet but plan to do that as I type.
I've just been busy the last few days. Had 2 baby showers, got Christmas decorations out of storage and am working on that, Santa train ride today, and just running around doing little things. My weight is not good. I lost .6 pounds this week but had gained 3 pounds last week so I am still over. Dh lost 5 this week! Too bad we weren't the same this week! (last week we both gained 3)
BFB, good luck with your exam! Sounds like a lot of studying. We'll see you when we see you and we understand your eyes might be tired of the computer screen.
RR, we saw Santa on Friday. I was unprepared for it and so I tried to neaten up ds as much as I could. He had seen Santa on a train ride a couple of weeks ago and said to the mall santa, "don't you remember me from the train?" It was so cute! I hope the a.m. sickness is gone!!
LBH, good luck on the new eating plan. You sound ready and motivated! :)
SB, good luck finding a good church. That is great that you and your teen are exercising together. :) HOw old is your younger "violent video playing" daughter? :)
I am not sure I can look at the previous thread without losing this post so I'm going to check that out. and I might post again. :)

SB, a cardio kick class is cardio kickboxing. It's at my son's karate school but the gyms around here offer it too. It's aerobi with a karate/kickboxing style.. we do 1/2 hour of aerobic/cardio work adn then about 1/2 hour on the bags.. I have gloves (like Rocky! :)) and wrist wraps and we punch and kick the bag and keep with the music. I never did taebo but I think it is a similar kind of thing (except for the bag work). Then there are lovely abdominal exercises at the end... yay.
BFB, got my enell. I like it.. I tried it for the first time yesterday at the above mentioned cardio kick class and it worked well, stayed in place and was comfortable. I think under my arms on the side I need a little more coverage though. I will see how it goes. They charged me 58 dollars for shipping and I nearly flipped. The bra wasn't even that much. But I called and they were SO nice and worked it out. It was a mistake in entering the information on the invoice. :)
Jul, welcome back! It is good to see you! I could not live in your electric yard... I am so afraid of lightening!
Legal, welcome back also! Nice to see you again!
RR, congrats on the dr. appt. The heartbeat will be so exciting!
LBH, I got a new phone. I was so excited. I've had my old cordless for about 10 years and the answering machine for at least that long.. they have both lived good lives. I had a caller id box... so now I have a phone with the answering machine, caller id built into the phone. Instead of 3 things on the small counter, I have one thing on the wall. I feel free! This has little to do with your answering machine-grandparent story but it reminded me and I am just so darn happy about the new phone. :)
Ok, all, I am going again. Have a great night!

Well I made it back from my weekend in New York and I didn't do too badly but I still think I may have gained a pound. I'll find out tomorrow when I do my official weekly weigh-in at home. We didn't really eat that much but it wasn't great food -one meal at McDonald's where I tried not to be too bad and a hamburger but no fries at another meal. I tried to make good choices while still enjoying my weekend away. My weight has sort of been stuck for the last week or so and I'll see what happens soon or I'll have to make some changes. I know the next few weeks will be hard with all the chocolate floating around. And I LOVE CHOCOLATE.
I haven't had time to read everyone's posts but I hope you're all doing well, enjoying the holiday season!
12-03-2001, 06:08 PM
HI ALL! I have been so busy the past few days & haven't had a chance to check in. And the one time I did have a chance to check in, the site wouldn't come up.
so, anyway, I shopped Thursday & Friday - got a lot done. Woo Hoo! Got some great presents for ds - a sandwich maker - he said he is always burning his grilled cheese sandwiches. I don't know if the gas is too hot on his burner or if he has lousy pans, but he ought to like this. And a great book on getting into a good law school - his next plan. One of these days (soon) I will be done!:) :)
I had a slight gain (.6 lb I think) at ww on Thursday for my after Thanksgiving (remember the fudge problem) weigh in so I was okay with that. It could have been much worse.
Saturday I made fudge for dh to take to work (and handled it okay!) and fudge in cookie cutters for little gifts for my sisters & mom; a giant cookie for my niece's birthday party & decorated it, pasta salad for the party; and Christmas soaps for my sisters & mom. And decorated a little tree to take to my Grandma (I get her one every year - she loves it). The party was Sunday - I didn't do very good - ate too much. Glad it was only one day - these holidays are tough tough tough for me.:(
Jul - I am impressed with your home schooling! It would take such discipline I think.:) I could never start at 2 or 3 - I am definitely a morning person.
SB - yeah for you on the homeschooling also. Great that you all are doing that since you want to. Yeah for discovering new muscles!! Nice that you exercise with your teen.
RR - glad all went well with the dr! Hope you enjoyed your shopping and got it finished!
BFB - good luck on your training course.
Lauren - good luck on working out a new plan! I read everyone's inspiring thoughts & I think maybe I'm a wimp for just wanting to hang on through these holidays!!
happy - wow for dh losing 5! Hooray for losing .6! (They say it is easier for men.) Glad you got that $$58 shipping charge worked out!
Elisa - sounds like you did pretty good. I'm impressed (as usual!). Last night when I wanted to get into the fudge I was sending with dh, I actually stopped & thought about it. A victory.
12-03-2001, 06:56 PM
Hi! I'm getting ready to run up to my parents for a couple of days. Need to take the boys to pick out our tree. My parents have a tree farm.
We are still trying to get out more orders - its really been a busy fall for us! We've only got one more show a small home show the weekend of 15. It will be nice to get into winter routine and back into church- haven't been since June because we've been gone most every weekend for shows. The few weekends we have been home, we've had to work in the studio (bad of us I know). But like SB its hard to find the right church...we've been here 13 years and are on our 5th church....thinking about a 6th. I grew up Southern Baptist so I have lots of "Baptist Guilt" over all this church-hopping.
SB: too funny that we both love vintage hats. I had a huge collection when I was in college and sold it all!!! Just started collecting again last year - I lean towards black, but did get a beautiful red with lots of beadwork a couple weeks ago.
What homeschool material do you use?? Since we're doing kindergarten I've pretty much made up my own...the goal this year is too learn letters and numbers well enough to have him reading a little. I've got to decide what I want to use for 1st grade.
RR: Wow!! Paying to walk on snow, thats great!! You know they have a hotel somewhere that is totally made of ice...even the beds, chairs, etc... Not something I'd want to pay to experience.
Good news!! I lost that 1.5 lbs that I gained last week. I'm back to 174!! Anyone have any exercise tapes they don't use??
12-03-2001, 07:50 PM
Sounds like everyone is really busy, it is so nice to see soo many posts :). I tried to stop in on Friday but the server was down and then got busy and didn't make it back.
We've got most of our christmas decorations up, and I've started shopping, I just can't seem to get in the mood yet though. I think it's because it's so warm yet. They said Nov was the 4th warmest in recorded history here, and I'm not sure I liked it.
I'm so excited we ordered a sideboard for our dining room and the sales lady said it would take 6-8 weeks to come it, and last week (2 weeks after purchace) they called to say it was in. They're delivering it Wed. I was just hoping it'd be here before Christmas.
On the weight front I've been doing better, I'm working on more water and less wine right now, I need to start writing it down, I actually think I'm not eating enough.
RR - Glad the dr's apt went well. Land's End is giving away a 'white christmas' this year. You're entered if you buy something. I thought that was funny, but the town selling walks in the snow pretty funny too.
Jul - Too bad about the trees, and finding a church. Glad you're busy with business though.
SB - To funny about the sore muscles which that was my problem .
LBH - Glad your feeling better. Good luck on the new plan, I've gotta get one of those going myself. Married life is just great :D .
Rabbit - You are just the crafty diva aren't you? I'm trying to get my sewing room set up so that I can get some stuff done before Christmas. But I'm not making any promises.
Happy - Isn't it kind of anoying when you eat the same as the guy and he looses lots more. Oh well it'll all work out in the long run.
Well, sounds like dinners done. Gotta go.
- Tech :spin:
12-03-2001, 07:57 PM
Having a rough evening...just checking in!!!!Off to bed to sleep through the nausea!!!
12-03-2001, 09:39 PM
RoadRunner -- I hope you're feeling better when you're next online to read. :( I've no tolerance for nausea myself -- it makes me too miserable to bear! :(
Tech Alum -- A new sideboard -- how exciting! We just got new dishes -- and that excited the heck out of me. :) I can't imagine having somewhere new to put 'em!! Wow!!
Jul -- some of my favourite pictures of my teen were taken when she was a toddler and spent hours every day exploring my hat collection. LOL! My favourite right now is this mauve mushroom shaped velvet hat that I finally found a suit to match. We homeschool using my own curriculum. Some of the tools we use include A History of US by Joy Hakim, the wonderful social studies magazines Calliope, Faces, and Cobblestones, and the math books by Saxon. While we are Christian we aren't really Christian homeschoolers -- which makes us stick our in our area where most who homeschool are. I keep my kids involved through our local rec center and church activities. :) Its a challenge, eh?
Rabbit -- I think that shopping is the absolute best part of the holidays -- and trying to resist the cookies, fudge, cakes, pies, dips, chips and more is the worst. :) Bravo for you handling it okay this weekend!!
Sudden kitchen crisis -- gotta go!
12-03-2001, 10:12 PM
SB: Thanks for the tips on those Social Study Magazines. I haven't heard of any of them. I did order a science magazine but can't even remember the name of it....haven't rec'd the first issue yet. I keep looking at Calvert, its not christian based at all. And several other christian families use it that I know of. Infact, I think its used in alot of public schools. Some of the christian based ones get on my nerves a bit by using scriputre (out of context) for teaching everything. I'd rather teach facts...and add my own beliefs to it.
Tech Alum: I'm envious!!! I'd love a sideboard....but need to build the new dining room/kitchen addition first. I do have a beautiful antique buffet but I keep it in the living room.
12-03-2001, 10:26 PM
Has anyone heard from Nancy lately? I have noticed she is not here since I have returned. I wonder how she is doing.
RR, I hope you feel better tomorrow! :( Thought that was over!
Tech, it's warm here in the east too. Hard to get thinking about Christmas though I have some decorations up and about 1/2 the shopping done. What is a sideboard? Oh, and just so you know, I didn't eat the same as the Mr. He has his own plan and I have mine (sort of). He just stuck to his and I didn't. But it is true that it seems he can lose more faster.
Jul, cool that your parents have a tree farm. I read about that ice hotel in the 3rd grade reading book last year and also in the Time for Kids mag. It was cool! (so to speak) :) I think they have to rebuild it each year.
Elisa, welcome back. It sounds like you really did try while you were away. Good luck at weigh in!
Have a great night all! I just came back from my cardio kick class and so I feel I did my part for today.. (especially because I didn't really feel like going).
12-04-2001, 05:08 AM
Hi all. Sorry for the long absence. I do not want to offend anyone or make anyone sad, but I feel I need to explain my absence if I am going to be able to move forward. This site has been so helpful to me, I hope that sharing the events of the past month will help me to come back. You (especially RR) may want to stop reading this post now. If so, I will post again soon! Everyone sounds like they are doing well. That is always so great to hear.
**Edited in the spirit of holiday cheer**
Sorry to go on so. That is what I have been up to during my absence. I am hanging in there and am trying to focus on creating a life in which this decision would never have needed to be made. Part of that is getting myself (both body and behavior) to a place where I feel more comfortable and secure. I hope that this site will continue to help me in working toward that goal. I will post soon. Keep up the good work all.
12-04-2001, 08:19 AM
Hey girl hang in there. If you need to talk email me. I have a child who has ADD and I have personally been through the depression.
Email me: Brewcitygirl@webtv.net
12-04-2001, 09:58 AM
I had to check something for dh this morning on the computer so I thought I'd go ahead & check in here. Lots of posts!:)
Jul - have fun at the tree farm. ~ Hooray for your loss!! ~ I didn't know there was "Baptist guilt" ! I have "Catholic Guilt" about everything!
Tech - nice for you that you got your new sideboard so quickly!:) ~ What kind of stuff do you sew? I had fun making those things this weekend, and just have to fit in the time to do more.
RR - sorry you don't feel well.
SB - I don't want to rush Christmas, but I sure don't want all this food stuff all the time!
Happy - no, we haven't heard from Nancy in a long time.:( ~ Hooray for going to that cardio kick class when you didn't want to! A victory.
Bailey - Glad to have you back. I'm so sorry for your troubles and your pain. That seems like an inadequate thing to say, but know that you are in my thoughts.
better run -
12-04-2001, 10:39 AM
I don't know if it's AF, or what, but I can't seem to stay focused. I am determined, and I have the motivation, but I can't seem to really focus and do what's right. Everyday I bring my LC with me, but end up bring it back home to the freezer, and buying something in the cafe. I do plan to go back to the gym tomorrow after work.
Bailey- It's good to see you back! I was wondering where you were off to. I think we all try to keep an open mind here, and not judge each other for our decisions. We may not always agree with each other's choices, but I think we all support each other, regardless. I'm sure this was a tough decision for you and your SO, that you thought carefully about. I hope that everything works out for you, and that you are feeling better about yourself soon. In the meantime, please stick around for our support!
Dani- It's funny you mention Nanci, I was thinking about her, and the others that have not been around in a long time. I hope if they lurk occasionally, they are all doing well and maybe even pop in and say HI! :)
Jul- Congrats on the loss. :D I'm sure you're insanely busy this time of year!
Tech- Congrats on the new sideboard...I can't wait to have a house and get nice furniture like that.
RR- Hope you're feeling better this AM! :dizzy:
Have a great day all!
12-04-2001, 12:29 PM
Okay if you've been here in the past 5 minutes you would have realized that I tried to type a reply and ended up typing a new thread?! The new icons have clearly confused me and then I couldn't figure out why I couldn't see the other replys and thought it was this new system. Dumb dumb dumb.
Anyhow I figured it out now and deleted the new thread so let's see if I can get back what I typed before....
Ooh, it worked.....so here we go again...
Well I weighed myself today and I must have done better than I thought while away because I managed to be down a pound!! I was thrilled to see that since the scale has seemed a bit stuck the past week, I hope I can hang on to it - I'll post my stats on the XMAS goal thread! The true test will be when I start my baking which I think will be this weekend.
Bailey - glad to see you're back and I'm sorry for what you must have had to go through. I completely understand how hard it can be to come here and "chit chat" when there's stuff going on in your personal life. But you know you can come here and do more than just "chit chat" - you can share your problems and get some support - so I hope you stick around.
RR - hope you're feeling okay today - pop in and let us know how you're doing.
Rabbit - you managed to stay strong with the fudge and I'm really impressed as I said I plan to do some baking and I know it's going to be really tough to stay in control. I can only hope that I can pack things up or freeze them before I get into them. Except sometimes even the freezer's not enough to stop me!!
Lauren - stay strong, if you lose focus at this time of year, bad things can happen!
12-04-2001, 12:33 PM
Bailey, welcome back. We are here for support. I would be quite surprised if someone was offended by your email. You have obviously been (and are going) through a very difficult time. You have to do what is best for you and it sounds like there were some potential risks. In any case we are here to support you.
Lauren, what's AF? In any case, good luck getting on track again. I am eating smart ones at lunch again. But that doesn't help prevent nightime overeating. :(
Well Nancy and Sonya, if you ARE peeking in from time to time... remember I (and others) am thinking about you.
Hi Elisa, I just posted this and then saw your post. I did not see the new thread though. :) Congratulations, you are doing well!
I am still houseless and from time to time this bothers me. I have been rather comfortable in the townhouse but I miss my furniture and I miss SPACE (cabinets, closets, basement... etc). We went from a 3br, 2 bath, full basement, pantry, etc.. into a 2br townhouse with no basement, little cabinet space, and fewer closets. We left most of our belongings in storage expecting to be in temporary housing through the summer. I am trying to be positive and patient. I know the right house will come by and that the next 2 months may be slow. I know I have a simpler life with less to clean, almost no yard maintainance, and lower utility bills. I have met nice people and have discovered that I really do want to live in the town we are in... I have plenty to be thankful for and appreciate. But from time to time I think I am going to burst with anticipation of finding a house. It's been 6 months in the townhouse (and counting). :)
sorry... didn't intend on writing so much about that.
Have a great day all! I am going to go drink some water now.
12-05-2001, 10:54 AM
Bailey-I will keep U in my prayers...Never think anyone would be judgemental..U R one of us and we all go through things together..Stay strong !!!!Keep posting cuz we are here to help..
I am on the way to the MD cuz I have been running 102 fever with a major sore throat since yesterday...I think it is possibly strep throat since SD#2 has it and is at the MD with dad right now..Poor man, he woke me up with a tylenol every 4 hrs and a cool bath cuz fevers are dangerous for the fetus if they stay around...I think I have what Lauren had...achey legs and general yucky feeling.....I will be back to post later on!
12-05-2001, 11:06 AM
RR- Sorry to hear you're sick...hope it's not strep! :( Glad DH is being soo sweet though. :) Maybe they'll give you some slow-working Erythromycin too!
Dani- AF = Aunt Flo! The only problem I've found with eating LC's or Smart One's is that I'm hungry a couple hours later. I am still trying to figure out my new plan. Maybe I can find some time this weekend to write it all down! Hope you find a house soon! Have you looked on Realtor.com? They list all the houses on the MLS, some have Virtual Tours...they're pretty cool!
Elisa- I did not see the new thread...you're safe! Congrats on the loss!!
I'm going to the gym tonight. It'll be good to get back there. I'm really determined. DH said that 2002 will be the year I get my little black dress...I'm glad he's got the determination to help me. :D
Have a great day all!!
12-05-2001, 01:01 PM
sorry this is just a quick stop by - getting PC fatigue with this course, but just wanted to say to all and to
BaileySG lots and lots and lots of
OK - gonna go, back to study - sorry for being more absent than present guys, but I know you understand and that I am already forgiven :s:
Nice to see lots of posts!
Might have a search around for my baby photo to post, guess that was the last time I was happy about my weight
12-05-2001, 07:09 PM
Lauren--Well, it was strep...I cried when he told me but he assured me it won't hurt the little one..He gave me even slower working amoxil..THat is all the ob would ok..I have to go back in 10 days and get another culture....I have to stay home another day from work until I have been on the antibiotics 24hrs...Tell DH to start saving his money for that little black dress!!!!!:smug:
WEll, back to bed. Got up to get tylenol~~~~
12-05-2001, 08:18 PM
Went shopping today & now I am practically done. Have a few gift certificates to get, a few things to pick up at Walmart, but I think that is all! WooHoo! On to the rest of the Christmas fun . . .
Lauren - good luck finding your focus. It can be so hard, I know. I think your idea about writing it down is a good one.:)
Elisa - congrats on your loss! You are :smoking: ! Baking is tough. This weekend I plan to make gingerbread men for dh to take to the office on Monday again. I thought I 'd try to make something every week. I just don't want to put myself in too much danger!
Happy - I like your icon! I almost picked that one. good luck on your house hunt. It is good that you are thinking of all the positives about where you are now.:)
RR - sorry about the strep! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Better run. Presents to wrap!
12-05-2001, 11:20 PM
Hi everyone, :)
Lauren... dUH!! I can't believe I didn't get that one (AF) ...now I still need to knwo what a sideboard is! :) Yes, I LIVE On realtor. The thing is... my realtor can get things a tad bit faster and when the market was running wild, things would be gone in a day and realtor was not that fast... but I do look on it many times a day. In fact today I saw somethign and then just at that moment got it from my realtor too from her MLS system. It is a potential. We have asked to go look. I'll let you all know. :)
Bailey... deletion unnecessary!
Rabbit, I like the icon too... it is my first one. :) I also picked the pinkish motife for my display. :) This is fun!
RR, I am so sorry to hear that it is strep throat... :( Your doc will take good care of you!)
Goodnight all! :)
12-06-2001, 09:53 AM
RR: Take care of your self. I get strep almost every year, just hate it!
Dani: Good luck on the house hunting. I was hoping we would move this next year but we just ordered another annealing oven and another glass furnace....makes us a little more committed to staying put...so looking into a kitchen/dining addition instead and we'll probably need to add onto the studio. I would love to move the packing room to the studio, currently its taking up an entire bedroom!!
Rabbit: good job on having your christmas shopping done!! I think I'm done except picking up a few gift certificates from Big Cedar Lodge for our partner and our welder. Now I just have to pack and ship everything.
Sideboard:A piece of dining room furniture with drawers for linens and tableware. A long narrow piece with a flat top suitable for serving a 'buffet' style dinner. A Buffet usually has a mirror and shelf and curled woodwork up the sides. Drawers and doors, and more like dresser size. My moms Sideboard is 11 feet long, my Buffet is only 4 ft long.
Bailey: I'm sorry you've had to go thru such a rough time and what a difficult decision to make. Please feel free to talk about whatever you need to. Take care and find comfort and peace.
My meeting was cancelled so I did not go to Columbia or my parents. This means I didn't get my tree from the farm and doesn't look like I'll be able to. I guess I'm actually going to have to buy a tree. I'm going to check around and see if there are any tree farms in the area (w/in 1 hr drive). I'd much rather have a fresh tree than one thats been cut since early november.
12-06-2001, 10:13 AM
Well, AF is wrecking havoc on me...had to stay home this AM to wash sheets!! Another reason to have laundry in my house/apt/whatever...so I don't have to be restricted to laundry hours (9-9).
My doctor called and left me a message yesterday AM...I'm not pregnant!! Gee, really?! She also said my cholesterol and everything else looks great...it dropped from 312 in February 2000 to 201 now! She'd still like to see it at 180 or lower, but she's happy. The 312 was not a fasting number so in reality it may not have been that high anyway.
Dani- Good luck with the continued search! I'm always on there looking...dreaming!! We're gonna apply for an FHA this weekend and see what we can do.
Rabbit- I've got at least another week before I start shopping!! I'm horrible!!
RR- Ooh...sorry to hear it's strep. :( I'm allergic to penicillin, that's why I got erythro... Hope it goes away quicker than my sinus infection did. Remember to gargle...constantly...that's what helped me!
BFB- Hang in there chickie!!
Have a great day all...time to throw the wash in dryer!

Thanks to everyone for the words of support. It has been very comforting. I am starting to feel better physically. Now just feeling like LBH does. Man are cramps a bummer. Not really feeling better yet, but I wouldn't expect to. Hopefully, that will come with time.
Still tending to eat "comfort foods". Must stop. Up 4 lbs from my low today. Need to get back on the wagon!
Rabbit & Juldiet: DONE with christmas shopping? I haven't even made my list LOL. You two are truly inspiring.
LBH: Wow! How did your dr. figure that one out (LOL). That's great about the cholesterol! Sorry to hear about AF.
Juldiet: Good luck with the tree. I agree - fresh cut is the way to go. Haven't had a chance to cut my own down in years.
Dani: Good luck with the house hunting. What a lot of work it is.
RR: Sorry to hear about the strep! Get plenty of rest and fluids and listen to your Dr.!
BFB: How long is the course? Do well, but make sure you make some time for yourself. (Although I don't expect you to spend your little free time here, know that we miss you!)

Trying to stay in touch here...but work's been very busy this week...they may even wrap up session today! *crossing fingers*
Got our tree yesterday...it's 11 feet tall!....DH is already b*tching that we WON'T be getting a tree that big next year! *L* We don't have it in the house yet, we'll tackle that job tonight or tomorrow night...I've got to buy a stand for it, neither of the 2 we have are big enough! I got a good deal on it, one of my coworkers has a tree farm & it's one he had cut for a special order & then didn't need, so I didn't pay full price for it. Getting the lights on it should be interesting.
Vicki - hope you're feeling better soon
Bailey - hang in there...you had to make a tough decision, but I'm sure you did what was right for you & that's what's important.
To everyone else, sorry I don't have time to address all the posts directly. Hope you are all having a happy holiday season so far!

3 pages of posts again - my are we the posters!! I FINALLY got my Christmas china out yesterday & am using it. Usually I like to have it out on the 1st, but I guess the 5th is not bad. It makes me smile to see it & use it.:D
Happy - what is IALAC that is says below your name?
Jul - I've been to Big Cedar Lodge! Nice place. ~ I have a couple blockbuster certificates to get. Found out today they don't sell them online. Bummer. ~ I have packing & shipping to do too. Probably should do that early next week - don't want anything to be late!
Lauren - glad that your cholesterol has dropped! That's always good. ~ Next week! I'd be nuts! (OK, so I'm already nuts!).
Bailey - no list yet?? Oh my! You best get going girl!
Legal - I have a very tall tree too! They are so fun!
have a great day all!

Bailey-I am with U on the CHristmas gifts!!!My intentions were good...made lists..started shopping and then stopped...I did do toysrus.com with free shipping and racked up on the kids gifts!!Even bought birthday things since there was no tax or shipping charges!!!Lot cheaper than the store!!!
Well, off to bed!!!I could get use to this life!!!!NOT!!!!

LE: I'm envious of your 11 ft tree. I love tall trees...wish I had taller cealings. There is still a little sap mark on the ceiling from last years tree.
Rabbit: Thats wonderful that you enjoy using your christmas china so much. I would ask for some for christmas but my DH would remind me that I don't use the good china that often as it is.
Bailey: it usually doesn't take me long to christmas shop. We make glass so we give glass. I also keep a stash of things that I've traded for with other artist thru out the year, so when I get ready to wrap I just open up the dormer storage box and pick and choose who gets what, and then I go out to the studio and pick some glass off the shelves. I really only have to buy for my two boys and my 5 nieces. The nieces are easy everyone gets a book (Amazon.com) and an ornament. By the time those girls are out on their own they will already have enough blown ornaments for their first tree. The one year I did not give glass and spent tons of time shopping...everyone got mad that they didn't get glass. Oh well....
I really should do a little house cleaning. I'm just having such a hard time moving today. Been feeling like I'm getting the flu so just spending alot of time on the couch.

nice to see 3 pages, you have been really busy this week. Still skimming posts, so I know that most of you guys are okay, but RR is a bit under the weather, hope you feel better soon. LBH - hope you are better too.
I have gone back to study to improve myself and for a change of career. Not sure how it is over there for you guys, but the market here has been horrendous. I used to work in personnel, but the market is as dead as a doormouse. The only thing that seems to be thriving is the legal secretary market. So I have gone back to get an official "Word" qualification and also to an introduction to legal and two legal modules. The course is actually more time consuming than I thought, I had allocated 4 weeks of study, but it looks like I will be continuing in the New Year for a few weeks. So I will be around, floating in the background.
Anyway gotta go, if I don't post again - have a great weekend everyone. :D

HELP!! I am completely out of control!! The Ferrero Rocher chocolates have been calling me...and I've been answering every time!! I stopped at the A&P on my way home last night to pick up some things to eat for the next week, and there they were, all different little...and big...containers of them. Looking soo pretty in their display!! I bought a cute little plastic container of 16 I think. It's about 12-15 minutes from the store to home, depending on the lights, and I ate almost all of them!! I was like a mad woman, I could not get enough of that luscious chocolate hazelnut crunch!! They had Godiva icecream, the small cartons, on sale buy 1 get one free...they had choc. hazelnut truffle flavor...I had to try it. Right inside the entrance, where the carts are, they had Yodels and Funny Bones 2/$4...I caved and got one of each. I got home, completely disgusted with myself, and through it all in the freezer...hopefully I'll forgot about it. UGH!! DH saw the icecream and said to me, aww, is it that bad? Not like I'm PMSing...freaking AF is here!! What is the matter with me? Am I just getting my kicks in before the new year?! I haven't even thought about resolutions yet...except that I want my nails back in January. Lean Cusine's were on sale buy1/get 1 free, I stocked up...but did not bring one today. Now I have about 10-12 LC's in my freezer. I feel really pathetic, because even with all this mess, I've still be researching how much cholesterol, and other things you're supposed to have per day!! I really need to get myself together and DO what I've been researching!! I have not stepped on the scale, and I'm afraid to!!
I'm just sick of myself right now!!
12-07-2001, 12:50 PM
Just checking in. Starting a new week today - whew! I always like to start fresh.:)
RR - atleast it sounds like you are done with the kids shopping!
Jul - Yes, I love my Christmas china. I have the Spode tree pattern. I've been collecting it for awhile now.:D I don't have regular china. We decided not to get any since we probably wouldn't use it much. ~ Cool that everyone gets glass ornaments! They are so beautiful, I'm sure. I see some in catalogs & they are so nice.
BFB - studying to be a legal secretary sounds great. Should be interesting work.
Lauren - oh no!:o You have to just say no & walk away from the sweets! (so much easier said than done). Try not to go to the store hungry - if you don't bring it home, you can't eat it. Be strong!
12-07-2001, 10:11 PM
Feeling much better...Did go back to work but took it easy!!!!
Lauren--I would never even drive close with my buggy to those little round demons in the store!!!That is pure temptations!!!I am with Rabbit~bloat on water before shopping!!!!Of course, now with the chocolate giving me the yacks..it would be a great time to buy!!!!!!Good Luck getting it back on track!!!!!
Have a great one!!!BFB-Good luck with the studies!!!!

OK, I'm sick of myself and I refuse to let it go any further!! I am going to get myself back on track!! I need to take control of my life in all aspects. I guess I am feeling the end of the year, and almost a whole year of marriage. I can't believe it's been almost 9 months already!! I am feeling the pressure because I only have 3 weeks to find a place to live...that's gonna go really fast! I have to let the mgmt. company know by Jan. 1st officially that we're leaving. I am having problems getting my dear loving DH to get motivated though. I am really in take charge mode, and he's not. I want to start getting things done, in all aspects...the tree decorated, the Christmas cards written and sent out, the wedding pic to the newspapers, pics made for everyone for presents, find a place to live, get DH's debt under control, etc...I'm sure you can all relate in some sense! In fact, I'm gonna go take the comic books away from his grip and talk to him now!
Have a great day all!

I can't believe I didn't post all week :(. Haven't been doing well on the weight loss thing, although I haven't been near a scale in a month I can tell. I'm with LBH I NEED to get back on track, I just can't seem to get motivated.
Met my folks to go mall walking and Christmas shopping this morning. I'm done except for one gift. In K's family we draw names and this year they decided to drop the limit to $20, I know I have expensive tastes, but what do you buy for under $20???? :?:. I'm going to have to get creative and I hate that.
LBH - I always seem to eat more the week of, and it's that I'm hungry it's not just cravings. Definately never shop hungry it's a diet killer. Good luck getting back on track, and on the FHA, I bought my first house that way since my credit stunk, but I had payed off my debt.
Rabbit - You obviously love Christmas, it is so heartening to see (or hear).
Happy - what Jul said about the sideboard, although to expand, I thought I wanted a buffet, but when I went shopping the stores around here called a buffet the piece under a hutch which I just thought was part of the hutch :?:, the piece we got is 6 ft long and has 3 drawers across the top with three doors underneath. It looks absolutely georgous in the dinning room.
RR - Hope your feeling better. And I say since your sick let DH do the shopping, I decided that was the good part of having a husband :D.
Baily - Welcome back!! Sorry you had to go thru something like that and glad you're hanging on.
LE - 11 ft . We only have 8 ft ceilings and I'm allergic to real trees so the 7.5 ft plastic will have to suffice.
BFB - Hang in there and good luck.
Jul - Homemade gifts are always the best. I have a couple handblown ornaments from Greenfield Village glass shop and I love how they sparkle on the tree.
I don't remember who asked, but I sew mainly quilts. I'm also planning to make the window treatments for the house, the people who lived here before obviously didn't believe in them, it kind of reminds me of that blinds comercial..
Well now that I've written a novel, I better go find lunch (need to go grocery shopping).
Have a great weekend all!!
- Tech :spin:

I'm back again!
Did not get very far with DH, he thinks he's getting sick, because he's tired and achey. He doesn't have a fever though, so I gave him more OJ and a couple Advil. :)
I got online and checked the paper for today's rentals. Found a couple that sound good. Unfortunately they are through Home Hunters Brokers. Are they nationwide? I remember years ago calling them about a place and they said well that one's not available, but we have this...and it would be ridiculously expensive. Maybe they've changed, but I won't believe it til I see it! There was a 2BR cottage in Mendham, a hoity toity town (Whitney Houston lives there!) LR, DR, Kit, W/D hook ups, cat ok for 1150./mo. plus all utilities. That's an incredible price for around there, that's why I'm sceptical, but I called and asked for details and they guy said their fee is $175, good for 4 months to find us something. The only other thing we pay is the regular security (1 1/2 months rent) to the landlord. So DH says OK call back. So we're gonna go meet this guy and sign up, then see the house, he said we could see it today. If he said we couldn't see it today, or it was gone, I would've said screw it to them. Hopefully this is on the level. And if something doesn't work out with him, we've lost $175, but I guess it could be worse.
Still feeling motivated... :D Have a great afternoon all!!

So I guess I'm talking to myself today!!
We went to the Home Hunter's office and registered with them. The way they work it is, they are just a liason between the home owner and the renters. He printed out a sheet of listing in the areas we wanted, then he called the guy who owns the house in Mendham. The guy wanted to ask us some questions, so I spoke on the phone with him. What it is, is like an old summer camp like complex. It's 5 houses on the property, little cottages. There's one in front and 4 behind it. The one in front is a family w/three kids. The one that we are looking at is a couple that just had a baby a few months ago and are moving to AZ. The other three are single men, one's been there 10 yrs., one 5 yrs., one 1 1/2 yrs. He tried to call the tenants but they weren't home. He said he would've met us over there to show the place, but they have a dog and he has not met the dog, so he didn't want to go into a house where there's a dog he hasn't met. I agreed that wasn't a good idea. He's going to get in touch and tell them that we want to see it tomorrow between 10-2, whatever's best for them. We have the address though, so we drove by it. It's gonna be really small, and I don't know that we're gonna be happy in that set up...parking stinks, and it's really rustic! If it was the front house, it would be ok, it's a little bigger and set away from the others. he had another listing in Morris Plains, which is the town I really want to live in, but the location is on the main drag and it may be a PIA. I may call there tomorrow though, to see about it.
I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about my day... Just waiting for some good TV to come on!! (Like that'll happen on a Saturday night!) In other news, it's been wet-snowing here since around 2 this afternoon!! There was some sticking to the grass, but I think it's changed to pretty much rain now. They originally were calling for snow tomorrow, not today!
I'm also here because I'm trying to stay out of the freezer! I had a little of that icecream I bought, but didn't go overboard. Think I'll go surf around a little! Hope everyone's having a great night...or at least more exciting than mine!!
12-08-2001, 11:44 PM
Wow Lauren, I didn't realize just how hard it is to find a place to live till this week. I know of 2 families that have had their houses pulled out from under them (renting month to month, no contracts, only 30 day notices needed) and they are having hard times finding any place to move to. Good luck I'll be thinking 'happy hunting thoughts' for you.
We're actually going to get to go to church in the morning! First time in ages since we've traveled for shows so much. Everyone will probably greet us like first time visitors and no one will remember us!! :)
